Saturday Before Good Friday: Ten Days That Changed the World
Yesterday, we began a day-by-day look at the Passion Week, so our “week” is actually ten days, starting BEFORE Palm Sunday… Here are some observations about the Saturday before Good Friday, which would have been eight days before Easter. It is a quiet Saturday, a sabbath, so there is no mention of any activity until we read John’s account of Supper at Bethany.

The Westminster Confession of Faith 23.3 (Part One)
III. Civil magistrates may not assume to themselves the administration of the Word and sacraments; or the power of the keys of the kingdom of heaven; or, in the least, interfere in matters of faith. Yet, as nursing fathers, it is the duty of civil magistrates to protect the church of our common Lord,…
Jesus: The Light of the World
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12
In this verse Jesus declares himself to be “the light of the world.” This is the second of Jesus’ seven “I am” statements1. While the expression appears simple and straightforward on the outside, the…

Symbology
For prophets, visions tend to be highly symbolic, with imagery that arouses heightened passions as well as points to an absolute reality. In a sense, visions are both a veil, and a veil being removed.
A veil, because what is seen only represents, or indicates, the true reality.
But also a removal of the veil, for once the symbology has been deciphered, what is revealed displays a…
The IZ comics have 15 extremely cool artists and here's a slight guide on how to identify them :3
Aaron Alexovich
- typically more dynamic and what i would describe as a “scratchy” artstyle
Issues: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 16, "Gir's Big Day", "Holiday Special", "The Dookie Loop Horror"
KC Green
- very silly and colorful style, creator of the “this is fine” comic/meme
Issues: 6, "Bitters and the Witch", 31
Dave Crosland
- more detailed style, similar to Alexovich but a bit cleaner
Issues: 7, 8, 9, 10, 21, "Invasion!"
Sarah Andersen
- another very silly style, though simpler than KC’s, creator of the “Sarah Scribbles” webcomics
Issue: 11
Warren Wucinich
- main artist and letter-er, typically stays fairly true to the original style though is a bit more round and curvier
Issues: 12, 13, 14, "Tales of Bitter", "The Evil Ms.Bitters", "Sweetheart Bitters", 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, "Tales of Stuff What Did Not Happen", 42, 43, 44, 45, 50, "Dib's Dilemma"

Issue: "Ms.Bitters' Bugs"
Sarah Graley
- ANOTHER silly style :3, this time more chibi than the others with flat colors
Issue: 26
Maddie C.
- i don’t know how to explain it but squishy, similar to the original style but instead of being mostly flat/sharp lines it’s more curvy (dib being the best example)
Issues: 27, 29, 30, 38, 46, 47, 48
Mady G
- sil,,,,ly, everything just flows together really nicely, very stretchy and expressive

1 I waited, waited for יהוה; And He inclined to me, and heard my cry.
2 And He drew me Out of the pit of destruction, Out of the muddy clay, And He set my feet upon a rock, He is establishing my steps.
3 Then He put a new song in my mouth; Praise to our Elohim; Many do see it and fear, And trust in יהוה.
4 Blessed is that man who has made יהוה his trust, And has not turned to the proud, And those turning aside to falsehood.
5 O יהוה my Elohim, many are the wonders Which You have done, and Your purposes toward us; There is no one to compare with You; I declare and speak: They are too many to be numbered.
6 Slaughtering and meal offering You did not desire; You have opened my ears; Burnt offering and sin offering You did not ask for.
7 Then I said, “See, I have come; In the scroll of the Book it is prescribed for me.
8 I have delighted to do Your pleasure, O my Elohim, And Your Torah is within my hearta.”
9 I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness, In the great assembly; See, I do not restrain my lips, O יהוה, You know.
10 I did not conceal Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your trustworthiness and Your deliverance; I did not hide Your kindness and Your truth From the great assembly.
11 Do not withhold Your compassion from me, O יהוה; Let Your kindness and Your truth always watch over me.
12 For evils without number have surrounded me; My crookednesses have overtaken me, And I have been unable to see; They became more than the hairs of my head; And my heart has failed me.
13 Be pleased, O יהוה, to deliver me; O יהוה, hasten to help me!
14 Let those who seek to destroy my life Be ashamed and abashed altogether; Let those who are desiring my evil Be driven back and put to shame.
15 Let those who say to me, “Aha, aha!” Be appalled at their own shame.
16 Let all those who seek You Rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your deliverance always say, “יהוה be exalted!”

when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
And he received honor and glory from God the Father when God’s glorious, majestic voice called down from heaven, “This is my beloved Son; I am fully pleased with him.”
Hebrews 2:9
What we do see is Jesus, who for a little while was given a position “a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now “crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone. What we do see is Jesus, who “for a little while was made lower than the angels” and now is “crowned with glory and honor” because he suffered death for us.
John 8:49-50
“No,” Jesus said, “I have no demon in me. For I honor my Father—and you dishonor me. And though I have no wish to glorify myself, God wants to glorify me. Let him be the judge.”
God and Jesus set the example of the importance of giving and receiving honor. They declare it good and important.
1 Corinthians 6:20
for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
Romans 13:7
Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and import duties, and give respect and honor to all to whom it is due.
1 Peter 2:17
Show respect for everyone. Love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God. Show respect for the king.
Giving honor is acknowledging how we value and respect others.
Philippians 2:3
Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself.
Luke 14:11
For the proud will be humbled, but the humble will be honored.
Proverbs 18:12
Haughtiness goes before destruction; humility precedes honor.
Matthew 23:11-12
The greatest among you must be a servant. But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
Giving and receiving honor is a part of Christian humility, because it seeks to lift someone else up, sometimes at our own expense.
Psalm 34:3
Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.
Psalm 107:32
Let them exalt him publicly before the congregation and before the leaders of the nation.
Romans 12:10
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
1 Corinthians 8:1
Now let’s talk about food that has been sacrificed to idols. You think that everyone should agree with your perfect knowledge. While knowledge may make us feel important, it is love that really builds up the church.
Honoring God and one another unifies us. It transforms selfishness into selflessness.
Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Interesting facts about salt (Sodium Chloride) aside from the well known
fact that It flavors food and is used as a binder and stabilizer , and a food preservative , bacteria can't thrive in the presence of a high amount of salt (because of the process of osmosis ). Salt also has healing properties.
Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Proverbs 10:21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
Job 6:6 Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
Mark 9:49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.9:50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
2 Kings 2:19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.2:20 And he said, Bring me a ("new" cruse), and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
Cruse is a cup or a flask a new vessel if you will.
1 Samuel 26:11 The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.
2 Timothy 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
2 Kings 2:21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.2:22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
It is God's presence that preserves us and keeps us from corruption! It was salt that this city needed just like It is salt (God's life) that we require.
Psalm 121:7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
