Fuck it, I'm throwing my opinion in the ring. I genuinely think bkdks are jumping the gun on the new op. The openings of MHA rarely if ever show key points from the arc, especially moments that will appear very late in said arc (ex. op 10 showed Hawks and Twice multiple times but hardly anything related to Dabi's reveal and nothing for KB:R).

So the fact that we're only seeing a representation of one of the three key moments of Deku holding one of his classmate's hands is not a sign that the entire arc will be rewritten to focus on Uraraka.

In general, I do think a lot of manga fans over-exaggerate how much bones adds or removes in the anime. Do you understand how much fucking work it would be to snub Bakugo and Iida's scenes and paste Uraraka on top? When they can just follow the source material?? And no one dare mention MVA. The end result of that arc wasn't great (mostly from a technical standpoint) but (temporarily) removing a mostly disconnected chapter is really the worst they've done when it comes to bastardizing the source material. What some people are proposing is a ludicrous upscale in bullshit.

In short:

Bakudekus, you will get your apology scene, so calm the fuck down.

Iida fans, you will get your moment. The op was not foreshadowing cutting out your boy.

Izuochas, you shut the hell up too. You're using everyone's panic (unjustified as it is) as an excuse to start more shit unprompted. No one is mad about izuocha being a thing, the argument is almost entirely about changing the story we love and taking autonomy away from Uraraka as a character.

It's really not a hard prediction to make that the anime will have at least bare bones accuracy to the source material and if you tell me that you really have lost that much faith in bones, despite them never going that far with MHA before, I genuinely don't believe you.

Everyone shut up and keep drawing people in Mirko's costume. Thank you.

I really really love MHA op 11... I'd love to talk about my favourite parts

From just the opening scene, the way the MHA logo is displayed all warped and glitchy to the shot of izuku on top of the destroyed city. This visual is simply beautiful but in a really sad way. Also the shot of izuku and deku is so bittersweet. Izuku looks soulless almost fed up with all the crap that's been going on. And deku looks determined but he also looks scary.

Then the shot of all the heroes looking at the destroyed city and not knowing what to do. Izuku already made up his mind and wanted to help the city on his own bcs that's what he thinks he has to do. But these heroes don't know what to do, they know just as much at izuku the damage to the city and it hurts them too but they have no idea what to do and they're feeling powerless. Even bakugou is sad and stumped.

This scene oddly reminds me of a scene from assassination classroom op 4. It's an anime which is very close to my heart so this connection that I feel made me like this op even more.

This shot of them holding hands is so cute . Ochako bringing out izuku from deku is beautiful and can't wait to see what exactly this is hinting at!!! and I love that ochako is getting more attention this season I hope she gets a lot more character development!

I really really love this scene with lady nagant. I've read so much about her from manga readers and I'm very excited to see her character and what she's about. By the time of posting this I figured that she's the assassin so it makes sense of her shattering the shot of izuku so the transition was also brilliant!!

This is probably my favourite scene of the whole op. The way izuku is drawn when the deku mask rips is so so innocent. His eyes finally have life. And the way tenko is stumbling and falling down when he's finally released from shigaraki. the parallels they built up of izuku and tenko finally meet in this scene. Because in this scene we can see that ultimately both izuku and tenko are children, they're just children who are forced to fight this war started by the adults. They are forced to end this war by fate itself. and I think the way they drew and animated this scene was truly beautiful.

Finally, this is my second favourite scene both of these visuals are so powerful this is the moment when our class 1a became full fledged heroes. These are the new generation of heroes. That is the reason we don't see any of the older heroes here. Their time is up. But something I find really

Sorrowful is that they're young. They're not supposed to take on the mantle of heroes yet. But the adults have failed and they have no choice but stand up. I feel both of these visuals are so important and I definitely want them on a poster!!

That's really all I have to say, I am an anime watcher only but I really love this op and just wanted to share what I specifically loved about this because I've seen a lot of hate to MHA and it really makes me sad and all that horikoshi-san is going through I hope the fandom can show the show just a little bit more love, so I'm doing my part by spreading just a little bit positivity about the show. Pika Rambles about the new OP because why not

If there’s anything I’ve learned from season 6 of MHA, it’s that whatever Twitter’s reaction is to something, I’m likely to have the opposite reaction.

I’m not often one to go into my opinions on things in MHA I feel are “good” or “bad.” Sometimes it happens, but just generally I’ve been trained to read and analyze a lot of things without respect to whether or not I like them or agree with their philosophies. I’m usually trying to understand a story more than anything.

But OPs are a different matter.

I have a weird thing for OPs. I’ve watched many over the years, and in some cases even decided whether or not I would watch an anime based on its OPs. (I’ve also...made a lot of AMVs.) OPs are supplementary material that are opportunities for animators to showcase their creativity and their understanding of the story’s themes. For that reason, I’ll happily ramble about my love for MHA OPs 1-4 and 7 anytime (god, especially 7; I’ll never get over the candy apple sakuga).

This time, OP 11, the ramble isn’t a good one. “What? Really? But everyone agrees it’s the shiniest one yet! Is it just that weird Ochako shit they threw in there?” No, stock anon. It’s so much more than that.

I have opinions.

If you like OP 11...you may not want to read my thoughts under the cut.

I’m just gonna complain in list form from here have fun.

1. First, all the good: I like the song. I realize not everyone’s gonna like the song, but I happen to like it. I also like some of the OP, particularly the first bits of it before the title card drops. I think it’s a good use of some of the cover/non-story artwork Horikoshi drew during this arc. Except already saying that, I can’t help but notice a huge missed opportunity. This cover art would’ve made for an EXCELLENT theme in the OP:

It would’ve made up for the egregious lack of All Might too.

2. That title card is awful. Come on. They used to do fun things with the design or colors or something. This is just...weird effects that maybe will cause someone a seizure. It’s certainly not pleasing to the eye.

3. I don’t have a problem with the split screen bit. It’s not great, but it’s not terrible. Except the animation they give Ochako was basically already used in OP 8 so I don’t know what that’s all about.

4. All the Lady Nagant art is super lame sorry why do they repeat the same angle and pose twice? They could have used other camera angles at least, or even do something more with her younger self and angst? This is about as one-note as her actual role in the story (okay maybe it fits then).

5. I don’t need to complain about the weird ship bait that is the Ochako scene in the way everyone else already has done for me. I have a pressing urge to bring up though that Bones once again shows their lack of creativity here, and it feels like they have a vendetta against Ochako too. Where is her action shot? Her sakuga? There are plenty of moments from this arc that could’ve made a much nicer action shot here. Her smile is so weird because this whole arc she’s getting serious for Izuku’s sake and frowns at him a lot and stands up to him essentially. This feels like heroine-ization and it’s awful. Ochako does much more impactful and moving shit this arc than whatever the hell this is.

6. How dare you cheapen the hand-holding symbol of this series do you even know what the fuck is happening in this manga??? [clings to Iida’s leg]

7. The sakuga of Izuku swinging around is okay, probably the best part of the OP--except then we run into the Lady Nagant issue again

8. What the fuck is the weird white corpse from AoT doing here? What? What is that? Hello?

9. It needs to be said: the sakuga of Iida et. al. looks like absolute ass. I’m sick of fandom just salivating for nothing but sakuga while having absolutely no standards. “Action lines? Cool angles? Speedy animation? Yay it’s perfect!” No, seriously, if everyone’s gonna be so critical of the story and animation and pacing all the time, where’s your criticism of the actual sakuga? This shot looks awful and no one is talking about it. Not only do all the characters involved move awkwardly, you can’t even tell who they are. I wish we could have seen better highlights of the characters themselves, their faces even, including Shigaraki’s. YEAH THAT’S RIGHT. THEY’RE FIGHTING SHIGARAKI IN THAT SHOT. DID YOU EVEN NOTICE? YOU PROBABLY THOUGHT IT WAS IZUKU, RIGHT? SEE HOW DUMB THIS IS? IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR THAT TO BE SHIGARAKI EITHER, BUT IT IS. GO PAUSE A FRAME AND CHECK IT OUT. The special effects of their super attacks at the end also look like ass. This was the worst sakuga we’ve seen since the third movie and I am not impressed and I’m mad other people are.

10. Epilepsy colors Izuku is also terrible sakuga he’s so off-model it hurts I can’t stand watching this bit.

11. The Izuku+Tenko sequence is nice and a good show of creativity, and yet Izuku also looks off-model and I can’t stand how this is NOT the right season for this imagery. So that makes this a spoiler, basically? It doesn’t belong here. I like the subtle hint at the OFA star with the sun glare behind Izuku’s offered hand, but still this feels like they have no idea what this arc is about.

12. Exhibit #999999 that it feels like the animators have no idea what’s up with this arc: the ending image of Izuku doing the All Might fist in the air pose. Like, maybe it works if you read it as “he’s able to represent All Might because everyone else is there with him,” but it just doesn’t...feel right. It’s not earned based on the rest of the OP. Why couldn’t we just have them all be around the All Might statue? I don’t know what are you all even thinking when you draw this shit

the flowers have water (AO3): MHA, Nana died, and was reincarnated as Inko Midoriya. An exploration of the character of Inko pre- and during canon.

Noisy As The Dead (AO3) (could also be found under the tag “there are many cons to being a one for all user au”): MHA, somewhat of a joint AU with Panda, in that we both ran with the same idea. Following a near death experience, Izuku can sees ghosts. He just wished they would be more mature than this.

Just Remembered. (AO3): MHA, roleswap AU between Rody Soul and Izuku Midoriya. Izuku is part of Humarise, Rody is a hero in training.

WIP WIP:

Garp Time Travel: OP, in a distant post-canon Garp travel back in time. This time, he decides to stay for his grandsons.

Roger Retirement Era: OP, instead of dying, Gol D. Roger decides to retire on Dawn Island to raise his son. Enter Garp, who just got given the care of his grandson.

Yeet to the future: OP, the Straw Hats were a famous up and coming pirate crew who suddenly disappeared one day. 30 years later, they make a come back at Marineford.

Baby Strawhats Time Travel: OP, the straw hats are sent back in time to their child bodies. Shenanigans ensue.

Before the coffee gets cold - The Headmaster: BSD, Atsushi has one last chat with the Headmaster of the orphanage after he died.

Dad For All AU: MHA, Izuku accidentally travels back in time, proceeds to adopts literally everyone.

1.  "Weeee Are Fuxkin Super Hero!!" 

This is a remix song of Weeee Are Fuxkin Super Star!! It's a song that expresses the seriousness of professional heroes.

2.  「Revengers」

It will be a power-up version of "Revenge".  It's a popular song in the floating scene! From revenge to counterattack!

3.  「We'll be everyone's heroes」

 It's an arrangement song of "I will be your hero" . The scale of the 6th season is getting bigger, so the title is bigger than the original song.

4.  「All for my sake」

Arrangement of "Symbol of Fear".  Ver with Shigaraki’s motif on the muzzle, I imagined an ominous image rather than a wild one, a solidness that is similar to AllForOne.

5.  「Dabi Dance」  A song that represents everything from his upbringing, After all, the motif of those two people is also scattered in various places. "Never use heat" and  "The Power of Endeavor"

6.  「You Say Run」-  It goes without saying that this is the main theme! I often listen to it when I work out!

7.  "My Hero Academia" is an emo song that expresses the strength of the team. It's often used in Yuei's everyone's scene!

8.  「爆殺王!! 」 (Bakugou’s theme) Please be killed by the sound, that's all.

9.  「三位一体 」(Trinity)  A song that can be used in the best scene. The combined power of the two will increase, but The three of us go higher, that kind of song. I made it so that it can be folded.

10.  「ワン・フォー・オールVSオール・フォー・ワン 」(OFAvsAFO)  In order to color that fierce battle, we have included the solidity of Shikomado Sukoi (?) class, All Might's motif is a victory blow.

11.  「勝己と出久 」(Katsuki and Izuku)  It's good that it's not "Deku and Kacchan". . . Each battle that believed in yourself, it is a song for proof, the motifs of the two are scattered in a nice way!

12.  「Hero too  」 A rare and bright popular song for MHA. The reason why the interlude in the middle is long for Pops is that it creates time to remember her past. Ayapeta's lyrics and Chrissy's singing voice are always the best!

13.  「俺が君のヒーローになる」(I will be your hero)  "We'll be everyone's heroes" made in the 6th Season. It is based on this song, originally made for Mirio saving Eri.

14.  「それいけさらに向こうへ] (Go Plus Ultra) -  Arranged song, this one was made with more of a serious battle feel than serious.

15.  Classmate read Rival   A song that always colors the last of the movie version. Here is the slapstick battle. Write "Rivals" and read as "Classmates" 

16. Symbol of Fear   I wanted to make a creepy, cool song, and it turned out like this, I like the screams and heartbeats.

17. Paranormal Liberation Front  From  "Runaway malice" When it ran out of control and was left alone, it transformed into such a song. The wickedness is left, but it is finished solidly.

18.  「Opening 」  OP song of the third movie. A song with the image of a dashing hero appearing, Actually, there was also a serious version of this song, but this one with a sense of excitement was the perfect match!

Shoto right now is going“My midoriya senses are tingling, I bet that fucker is getting himself killed by a villain right now, and he didn’t even invited me!””- Izuku didn’t even have his phone on him for Shoto to track this time, he just followed the Tingling in the back of his skull to where the most danger was. 4) “THERE’S MY BOY, RIGHT ON TIME BEFORE AIZAWA GOT CASTED FOR A NICHOLAS CAGE MOVIE

Shoto may have arrived just in time to stop Aizawa’s Face/Off moment, but even that couldn’t fully thwart Tomura’s success. Our odds have not improved, even with Izuku using Black Whip as an impromptu shock absorber to try and blunt the blowback of 100% smash attacks on him, that doesn’t mean much when he can fully heal from those same blows – and they weren’t enough to actually stop him before even!

5) “THERE WE GO MIDORIYA, GIVE HIM ONE OF THE GOOD ‘OL RELIABLE”- We’re gonna need a bigger gun in the armoury than that to take on Tomura now…

I suppose this is during the whole shebang that was happening a few chapters ago. Don’t worry, the kids are gonna take him down. Hopefully.”- ….Cough. The ship has sailed, the payload launched, the tsunami inbound, Pandora's Box unleashed. Only All Might or All For One at their prime could likely severely impact a serious Machia. Horikoshi didn’t show us the ‘fight’ because it was an utter foregone conclusion. 12)“Yeah uraraka, but a lot of them are already at the site confronting him. They just need to hold him back until the poison takes effect.”- ….Nope. They tried, they failed, and now, there’s no heroes in the cities who can be on site to save these people. There’s gonna be a lot of death occurring, and nobody can protect anybody from it.

(MHA ch 267) 13) “Now for the truly concerning elephant in the room. Gigantomachia is gonna fuck things up for everyone, won`t he?”- Yes indeed. Despite everything they’ve put into preparation, Machia’s sheer might and single-mindedness, alongside the fact that the only person with the potential to maybe one day stop him – Izuku – is at the other end of his goal, means there’s really nothing that can be done to avert his rampage. The only thing the heroes can do is try and save what lives they can from the devastation, because stopping Machia is like standing in front of a moving train and just as messy. (MHA ch 267) 14) “Uhhhhh… I don`t like where this is going… They wouldn`t remind us that he`s here and can rampage at any moment if he wasn`t, you know, about to get started.

Now I`m scared for those kids upstairs.”- It’s not just them in the firing line, but all those people in-between the villa and the hospital who are endangered by Machia. You don’t fight an act of god, you pray it doesn’t hurt you as it passes by. (MHA ch 276) 15) “oh a small battle map, I see…. Now tell me, which direction is Gigantomachia coming from? Something tells me it`s exactly the direction the evacuation is going, right?”-Them…and all the other cities that weren’t evacuated too. (MHA ch 288) 16)“Yeah see, even Midnight told you that

this is now an emergency operation, if Machia gets there, everything everywhere is boned forever, and since your trees apparently can’t stop him, it rests on Midnight’s shoulders to save the day.”- There’s also the logistical issue that there are other cities between the lodge and Jaku…and Machia isn’t the kind of guy who’ll take a detour to go around stuff when he can go through it. (MHA ch 279)

I am going to lore dump my mha Oc, please tell me if he is cringe or not, or too op

Sooo basically, Icarus (for the time being now that is his name) is like, a bird cat hybrid thingy. And he draws heat from the area around, with a max temp high enough to melt steel (2500-2800°F or 1371-1540°C), but if he does it too quickly he has a risk of heat stroke, or if he cools down too quickly he can like, hypothermia y'know so long cool down Also, he can like, make it go back out in a sense? Like, start a fire and control it in a way? (Also, he is next generation) But anyways. Icarus placed like, 3rd in the UA sports festival, without a quirk. and the whole reason he did this is because his class (which is like only 11 tight knit child hood friends) had a quirkless friend who wanted to be a hero but chose/was forced not to become one because they where quirkless. So it was more spite to prove a point.

He'd most likely function well w/ Deku because of the quirk stats (in my mind) so that's currently who he's working with (since this is the future, I am ignoring lore lmao). Because, one he's probably going to be a fall behind for like, Bakugo or Endeavor who's quirk works bad in cold temps, Todoroki because well, Icarus can't quirk well in cold temps, or Kirishima bc he's a fan boy. The reason I jump to these heroes is like, he was 3rd in the sports festival and probably (being anxious) over analyzed all of the situations and ect.

My rant about volume 34 (and Star and Stripe)

OK BUCKLE UP because I’m annoyed. I usually try to find SOMETHING positive to say, but no. Volume 34 has got me so pissed it’s not even funny at this point.

If you like Star and Stripe and love this new volume, more power to you. I'm glad Horikoshi released something you enjoyed. This is just my opinion, and you are in no way required to agree. I just needed to get this off my chest.

Tangent incoming:

When the Star fight happened in the manga, the most I could compliment it was that the fight was cool to look at. But Star as a character DEEPLY bothered me for the following reasons:

She was introduced with basically no set up (because a single silhouette isn’t enough this late in the game. At this point, we should know every character unless they are a random background dude)

She existed as a plot device to solve a problem that could have been solved a million different ways (if you want to nerf Shigaraki, just say that being woken up early caused him to lose some quirks! Also, if you need an excuse for why pros around the world aren’t helping, JUST MAKE SOMETHING UP)

She did not exist outside of her purpose as a plot device (Re-Destro was also a very obvious plot device to give Shigaraki power, but at least he existed beyond that. He had his own thing going on and tied into larger story aspects, like his ties to Destro)

Her whole arc felt like grinding the story to a halt only to give us information that doesn’t matter now (at least with Nagant, the more we learned about her past the more we implicitly learned about the HPSC, Hawks, and hero society as a whole. Star’s backstory only told us about her and now it doesn’t matter)

The whole arc also felt pointless because we KNEW she (a random side character) wouldn't be the one to kill Shigaraki (the main villain). It's one thing to have these build-up fights throughout the series (Deku vs. Overhaul, Shigaraki vs. Re-Destro) even if we know the main characters are safe, but Star's fight came so close to the end that we shouldn't have had any new characters introduced at that point, AND it felt like a waste of time to pretend there was even a chance she would win

The only positive thing I will say about her fight (besides the fact that it looked cool) is that, for the situation Hori put himself in, he wrote the best way to get out of it. Having her die with her quirk would have felt even more pointless, and having Shigaraki get her quirk would have felt too contrived and made him way too op, so yeah. For where he put the story, Horikoshi found a clever way out of it. (But, like I said before, he could have nerfed Shigaraki in a variety of other ways).

Ok onto my issues with the volume

I 100% understand why she is on the cover this volume, but I don’t understand why she’s the ONLY person on the cover. Like yes, as a major player in this arc she should definitely feature, but make it a sort of “good vs evil” thing. Put AFO or Shigaraki on there. I saw someone say it should have mirrored Nagant’s cover which YES! Star and Nagant were already parallels, give them similar covers!

Instead, Star gets a solo cover. You want to know the other characters who have received solo covers? Shoto (5), Bakugo (7), All Might (11), Deku (15), Mirio (17), Shigaraki (25), and Dabi (30). All very important, and all justified (I mean, I think volume 15's cover sucks, but that's just me. Deku's the main character though, so his presence is justified). You know who hasn't received a solo cover yet? ANY OF THE GIRLS. That's right: Star and Stripe, the character who died 6 chapters after her introduction, is the first female character to get a solo cover

But no, Star didn't only get the cover, she also got the spine. I can hear you asking "why does that matter?" and I'll tell you!

In the early days of MHA volumes, the spines tried to feature as many 1A kids as possible. Usually they tried to put kids on volumes where they did something (like Aoyama being on volume 10 because he saved Tokoyami), but sometimes that didn't work (like most of the Overhaul volumes having students who weren't even present). Still, when they could, they tried to put people on volumes where they were important. The only non-1A characters they put on spines prior to running out were All Might, Aizawa, and Mirio.

After they ran out of 1A kids, they began putting villains, Pro Heroes, and Nejire (so, like Mirio, they're putting other UA students). Everyone they chose was also a main character or, at least, a major enough character that we know them (Nezu, Mt. Lady, Nejire).

Here's the main thing though: they never put a character on the spine twice. Look at something like volume 27; Twice and Hawks are both equally important, but Twice was on the spine in volume 24, so the obvious choice was to go for Hawks. You can also look at something like volume 30. The obvious choice would have been Dabi, but Horikoshi went with Nejire because he is likely saving Dabi for a future volume.

So now let's look at Star and Stripe. She's definitely featured prominently in volume 34 and she hasn't been on a spine before, but she's not a main character. The worst part? She never will be because she'd dead. She can't gain more importance after the fact because she's gone! She has contributed everything she could to the story.

I actually excused this choice when I first saw it because I assumed the volume would end of 337 (the "you can still be a hero" panel) and I reasoned that "yeah, there was no one else that could have been on the spine. Shigaraki and Aoyama already featured, AFO is probably being saved for later, I get why they did this."

But now we know the volume ends at 339 and you know who features PROMINENTLY in 339 (and at the end of 338)? HATSUME. We've known her from the beginning and she's had plenty of plot relevant moments, so she would have been a great character to have on the spine.

Now, you could argue that Hatsume will be on a future volume spine since she is helping during the final fight, and you'd be right, but there are so many characters who have yet to be featured on spines that you could always have found a replacement for Hatsume if she had been used here. You could also just pull what volume 31 did and put a random character on the spine despite them not being in the volume.

Less important, but it also annoys me that the volume is called "America" (the English version will likely be named "United States of America"). I personally think "parting gift" would have been an amazing volume title since it's a little more "in touch" with the spirit of the volume, but whatever. Nothing we can do at this point. I just felt like "America", when combined with the cover and spine, was just icing on the cake.

It's just so weird that this much attention is being given to Star because she's not a main character and never will be. We may be told the aftereffects she had on Shigaraki, but Star herself won't do anything else.

Star's whole arc felt like something from a different series, and now her volume feels like that too. Like she's a side-story that takes place separate from the main events of MHA. Points for consistency, I guess.

Update: The back cover is Aoyama. I get why, he's IMPORTANT. This is very much his volume too, and I actually wrote about why this picture has a secret meaning but like... Congrats to Shigaraki and AFO for not being represented ONCE in this entire volume. It's honestly impressive at this point. I hope they're on the inner jacket, but at this point my hopes are so low I wouldn't be surprised if it were Hagakure
