Recently watched Superman: The Movie (1978) for the first time in well over a decade and it really is a great movie so I got some thoughts that I want to put somewhere before I forget.
The cold open of theater curtains showing a mockup of an old Superman serial featuring Action Comics is a great nod to the character's past. Then the title flying out of the old theater screen is a fantastic visual as well as a good transition to kickstart the credits sequence accompanied by the iconic music
The set design of Krypton is phenomenal; the glowing clothes, the crystalline look, and the streamlined technology feel alien and futuristic in a unique way, although it is a little odd that everything is so white except for Kal-El's baby blanket.
The trial of Zod, Ursa, and Non has the striking combination of visuals that are the trio being held in a spotlight by spinning rings and the stern Kryptonian judges' faces being projected onto the otherwise dark dome surrounding them
Marlon Brando keeps pronouncing it "Kryptin" for some reason. Like when I'm joking about watching "The Batmins"
Genuinely very sad goodbye scene from Kal's parents
Pretty much every wide shot in Kansas is super beautiful
As is the custom, Ma and Pa Kent bring Clark up right. I appreciate the moment where Clark tells Pa about how he gets so mad at bullies that he wants to tear them apart because first off, you can tell from how he says it that he knows it'd be wrong to do that. And second, Pa doesn't yell at him for having those feelings, he tries to help him deal with them.
Clark doesn't just bail on Martha to go find himself, and he makes sure she'll have help on the farm while he's gone
The sequence of the Fortress forming itself has amazing practical effects and editing
Maybe it was because I was watching the Blu Ray version with extra scenes but the abstract montage of crystal Jor-El teaching Clark about the universe and his abilities and giving life lessons ran a little long but it was cool
Clark is very much playing up his meek, clumsy identity but him being Reporter Clark Kent as a person is not totally an act. He makes sure half his paycheck goes to Ma back home because he wants to make sure she's taken care of and he tries to be polite and helpful around the office, which tracks with who he is at his core
I think Lex being a business tycoon/scientist is pretty integral to the character but I don't mind this version's "Napoleon of crime" shtick. I like that Gene Hackman's hair being a wig in-story is hinted at when Otis is poking around the spa and he finds a spare hairpiece
I know everyone knows this already but Christopher Reeves is a perfect casting choice and he does an amazing job at making Clark and Superman superficially different but obviously the same person at heart. Even when he says something a little corny as either one, there's so much sincerity to it
Clark feeling a little guilty about enjoying being a hero is on-brand. I like that Jor-El reflects Johnathan Kent by encouraging him but also giving guidance so he doesn't lose who he is.
The moment of Jor-El saying "I've sent them you. My only son." is veering very close to the common Superman-as-a-Jesus-allegory mistake but it's the only time in the entire movie I remember it doing that, so I can't harp on it too much
Lois is just a force of nature and the only reason Clark can keep up with her as Superman is because she's starstruck
This version of Superman and Lois are down just HORRENDOUS for each other
The flying date scene is great and I think the poorly-aged flying effect is countered by the nighttime background and the chemistry between the characters. That being said, the "can you read my mind" poem is just. What. Why is this
The scene of Lex, Ms. Teschmacher, and Otis attempting to tamper with the nukes and then having to do it again because Otis screwed up is so goofy I forgot they were villains
Great moment when Superman shows he can be intimidating by just staring down Otis.
I like that Superman is saved by Ms Teschmacher because she believes in him which is a surprise to Lex because he only believes in himself
Really great effects in the scenes of the destruction from the San Andreas fault
This shot is underrated
Tumblr media
The moments of Superman realizing Lois is dead have so much weight to them and are amazingly shot
I kind of wish they explored the consequences of him "interfering in history" because otherwise it is sort of just a convenient deus ex machina
Everything ends tied up very nicely (except the Zod squad but after two hours, nobody's thinking about that) and sometimes that's all a movie needs
It's astonishing really how much they manage to fit in this movie considering they give a lot of scenes more time than you'd expect
Overall, movie good.

About the Films:
Superman: The Movie
Academy Award winners Marlon Brando and Gene Hackman head an all-star cast in the fantastic, action-packed film that made Christopher Reeve an international star playing the greatest superhero of all time.  From the doomed planet of Krypton, two parents launch a spaceship carrying their infant son to earth.  Here he grows up to become Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for the Metropolis Daily Planet.  But with powers and abilities far beyond those of ordinary men, he battles for truth and justice as Superman.
An Alexander Salkind presentation and directed by Richard Donner (The Goonies, Lethal Weapon, The Lost Boys), the film stars Academy Award winner Marlon Brando (On the Waterfront, The Godfather) as Jor-El, Academy Award winner Gene Hackman (The French Connection, Unforgiven) as Lex Luthor, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, and Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman.
Based on the DC character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman was produced by Pierre Spengler from a story by Mario Puzo and a screenplay by Puzo, David Newman, Leslie Newman, and Robert Benton.  Ilya Salkind served as executive producer.  The film also features Ned Beatty as Otis, Jackie Cooper as Perry White, Glen Ford as Jonathan Kent, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Valerie Perrine as Eve Teschmacher, and Terrance Stamp as General Zod.
Superman was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Film Editing, Best Music (Original Score) and Best Sound.  The film also received a Special Achievement Academy Award for Visual Effects.  In 2017, Superman was inducted into the Library of Congress National Film Registry.
SYNOPSIS
Superman II (Theatrical Version)
Unwittingly released from Phantom Zone imprisonment, three superpowered Planet Krypton criminals Terence Stamp, Sarah Douglas and Jack O'Halloran) plan to enslave Earth – just when Superman (Christopher Reeve) decides to show a more romantic side to Lois Lane (Margot Kidder). Gene Hackman also returns as Lex Luthor in this sequel that features a top supporting cast, witty Richard Lester direction, and visuals that astound and delight.
Directed by Richard Lester (A Hard Day’s Night, The Three Musketeers), the film stars Academy Award winner Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, and Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman.
Based on the DC character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the film was produced by Pierre Spengler from a story by Mario Puzo and a screenplay by Puzo, David Newman, and Leslie Newman.  Alexander Salkind and Ilya Salkind served as executive producer.  The film also features Ned Beatty as Otis, Jackie Cooper as Perry White, Sarah Douglas as Ursa, Jack O’Halloran as Non, Valerie Perrine as Eve Teschmacher, Susannah York as Lara, and Terrence Stamp as General Zod.

Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut
Director Richard Donner began shooting Superman II while concurrently filming Superman: The Movie, though the theatrical version of the film was ultimately directed by Richard Lester. In 2006, Donner’s original unique vision was released for the first time. Jor-El (Marlon Brando in footage cut from the theatrical version) appears in key scenes that amplify Superman lore and deepen the relationship between father and son. Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) plots more schemes to unmask Clark Kent as Superman (Christopher Reeve). With so many changes, large and small, including a different beginning and resolution, this version is an eye-opening alternate experience.
Directed by Richard Donner, the film stars Academy Award winner Marlon Brando as Jor-El, Academy Award winner Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, and Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman.
Based on the DC character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the film was produced by Pierre Spengler and Michael Tau from a story by Mario Puzo and a screenplay by Puzo, David Newman, and Leslie Newman.  Ilya Salkind served as executive producer.
Superman III
Meet Gus Gorman (Richard Pryor), a naive computer-programming natural. For him, a keyboard is a weapon – and, as a result, Superman faces the microelectronic menace of his life. Christopher Reeve reprises his signature role, deepening his character’s human side as Clark Kent sees Lana Lang (Annette O’Toole) at a Smallville High class reunion. And when the Man of Steel becomes his own worst enemy after exposure to Kryptonite, Reeve pulls off both roles with dazzling skill. Relive Superman III with all its heart, heroism and high-flying humor.
Directed by Richard Lester, the film stars Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman and Margot Kidder as Lois Lane.
Based on the DC character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the film was produced by Pierre Spengler from a screenplay by David Newman and Leslie Newman.  Alexander Salkind and Ilya Salkind served as executive producer.  The film also features Richard Pryor as Gus Gorman, Jackie White as Perry White, Marc McClure as Jimmy Olsen, Annette O’Toole as Lana Lang, and Robert Vaughn as Ross Webster.
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
Christopher Reeve not only dons the title hero’s cape for the fourth time but also helped develop the movie’s provocative theme: nuclear disarmament. To make the world safe for nuclear arms merchants, Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) creates a new being to challenge the Man of Steel: the radiation-charged Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow). The two foes clash in an explosive extravaganza that sees Superman save the Statue of Liberty, plug the volcanic eruption of Mount Etna and rebuild the demolished Great Wall of China.
Directed by Sydney J. Furie (The Ipcress File, Iron Eagle), the film stars Academy Award winner Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, and Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman.
Based on the DC character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the film was produced by Yoram Globus and Menahem Golan from a story by Christopher Reeve & Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal and a screenplay by Konner & Rosenthal.  The film also features Jackie Cooper as Perry White, Marc McClure as Jimmy Olsen, Jon Cryer as Lenny, Sam Wanamaker as David Warfield, Mark Pillow as Nuclear Man, and Mariel Hemingway as Lacy Warfield.

Difference of Taste
Scene: From the tv show Wednesday
Characters: Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, and Teschmacher from Supergirl
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 750
A/N: This is for the Rewrite Challenge hosted by @choicesprompts This is a rewrite of a scene in the Wednesday tv series using Supergirl characters.
Summary: Lena and Kara have a difference of opinion of their room and what it means to be roommates.
Lena stared at the multicolored window in the room that she shared with Kara. She winced at the display. It looked like candy exploded everywhere. She sighed and took out a black tap and divided the room in half even the window. On her side, she started peeling the multicolored plastic off of the window. By the time she was almost finished, Kara had arrived back to the room.
“Hey, what are you doing to my room?” asked Kara looking miffed.
“I thought this was our room. Your side of the room looks like it is covered in unicorn vomit.”
“You can’t just make changes to the room without saying….”
“Shush. I need silence.” said Lena walking to her desk with the typewriter.
“Silence for what?”
“I take an hour out of my day to write my novel. If you put in half as much time on your blog, it could be at least half coherent. I read mental patients journals more coherent than your work.”
“At least I am doing something that I love in my own voice” said Kara pouting.
“You say that like it gives you any prestige” mused Lena.
“I have tons of followers that love my content and eagerly await for me to produced more.”
“Yes, you have moronic readers that are only able to understand the small icons you post.”
“You mean emoji’s? People use them to express their feelings.” said Kara baffled.
“And?”
Kara chuckled, “I forgot having feelings is a foreign concept to you”
“The following emojis come to mind when I think of you: bottle, barf face, skull and crossbones.”
Kara looked shocked as Lena headed back to her desk.
“By the way, if you are going to continue to gossip about me on your blog, you should know that Luthor is spelled with or instead of er. It would give your writing more integrity if you got the subjects name spelled right.”
As Lena started to type, she heard the beginning of Respect by Aretha Franklin playing in the background. Lena turned around and saw Kara dancing like a moron to the song.
Lena got out of her chair and slowly started walking to Kara and said, “Turn that off.”
“I can’t hear you” smirked Kara while continuing to dance.
Lena narrowed her eyes and raised her hands. Around her hands started forming a magical orb.
“If you don’t turn that off…”
Kara turned to stare directly at her, but now her eyes were glowing red.
“I would be careful of what you say next. I don’t want to accidentally cause you to pop, now do we” said Kara smiling wickedly.
The two girls glared at each other before they heard a knock at the door. They quickly stopped their powers and turned off the music just as an older woman entered the room.
The woman stood in front of the door and said, “I am so sorry for introducing myself to you so late this evening. The plants were being in particularly finicky about their food source today. Did I interrupt anything?”
Both girls shook their heads.
“Ah perfect!”
The older woman walked to Lena and said, “It is a pleasure to meet you Lena. My name is Eve Teschmacher. I am the room mom for this dorm. I always present the new girls with a flower that I think that best represent their personality.”
Ms. Teschmacher produce a black flower from behind her back.
“A black dahlia” mused Lena.
“Ah, you have heard of it.”
“Of course. It reminds me of my favorite unsolved mystery. I love it!”
“Perfect! I see that you have already met Kara. I hope she has been showing you the ropes.”
“Kara has been very hospitable during my time here. I hope to return the favor by making her my favorite sleeping potion. Hopefully, it can give her a long, long, night sleep.”
Kara looked at Lena warily.
“Ok…. Well, there is a couple of rules that I want to go over before I take my leave. Lights out at 10pm, no boys under any circumstances in the dorms, and keep your magic and laser beams to yourselves.”
Both girls stared at her startled.
Ms. Teschmacher chuckled and said, “Don’t think i didn’t see how you two were behaving before I got here. I expect both of you to at least respect one another during your time here.”
Ms. Teschmacher then smile and left while Kara and Lena stared at each other baffled.

Character Name: Kal El Alias: Clark Kent // Superman Age: 41 Face Claim: Brandon Routh Species: Alien - Kryptonian Home Earth: Earth-49
History:
Kal doesn't remember much from his time before the Kents found him. His journey to Earth was a blur of nothingness, interspersed with vague memories of the lessons his father recorded in the ship's memory. As far as he's concerned, his history began when he crash landed outside Smallville, Kansas. Being brought up by the Kents was one of the best things that happened to him, on the farm he learned the value of hard work, the strength of family and stong sense of right and wrong. Of course it wasn’t always easy for them, especially when he first began to develop his powers. Learning to tone down his speed and strength when at school -especially whilst playing sports- was one of the hardest things for young Clark. Knowing he was so much more robust than everyone around him weighed heavily on his mind and the fact that despite all his powers he hadn’t been able to save his father, Jonathan, was what sparked him to become Superman.
Kal spent a decade building the Fortress of Solitude and studying there to become the hero he was destined to be. Learning about his home world and the abilities he had been given thanks to his alien metabolism interacting with Earth’s yellow sun. When he was ready to return to civilisation, Kal headed to Metropolis, back in his Clark Kent persona and found employment as a reporter for the Daily Planet. There he meets and befriends Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane. He falls for Lois almost immediately, but unfortunately as Clark, he doesn’t gain her attention in that way at all. Superman, however, has much better luck, and Lois is smitten by him after he rescues her from a falling helicopter. Kal allows her to interview him in his hero guise and even takes her out for a romantic flight. Lois is the first to call him Superman, and the name sticks.
Kal didn’t only meet friends in Metropolis, Lex Luthor also crossed his path there. The “criminal mastermind” saw Superman as a threat to his masterplan (hijacking two missiles and blowing the San Andreas fault to destroy the west coast) and as such lured him into a trap. After obsessive research, he located a meteor from Kal’s home planet and mined the Kryptonite ore contained within it. Luring Superman to his lair with a phony threat to gas the population of Metropolis, he traps Kal with the kryptonite and throws him into his pool to drown. Eve Teschmacher, Luthor’s assistant, helps Kal escape asking him to stop the decoy missile first to save her mother, who happens to live in Hackensack. Once free Superman diverts the decoy as promised then flies into the earth to fix the break in the fault that the second missile made. Though this stops the major disaster of the west coast sliding into the sea, there are still terrible aftershocks. One causes a breach in the Hoover Dam, and while Kal is busy with this Lois is caught up in another quake, trapped in her car she is pulled into a crevasse and crushed. Overwhelmed by grief and anger, Kal travels back in time by flying faster than the speed of light, reversing it to prevent the dam breach and fixes the fault line to stop the crevasse from reaching Lois’ car. He stops the reversal at the point the earthquake began and flies back to find Lois, who is alive and well. Once certain she is okay, he disappears to capture Luthor and his henchman Otis, delivering them to prison.
A few months pass and Kal settles into his roles as both Superman and mild mannered reporter, Clark Kent. Saving those in need and getting on with every day life in Metropolis. Until he finds out that Lois is on assignment in Paris, where terrorists have taken control of the Eiffel Tower and have threatened to level the city with a hydrogen bomb. Superman flies in to save the day, launching the bomb into space where it detonates. Unfortunately the shockwaves release Zod, Ursa and Non from the Phantom Zone and the three Kryptonian criminals head for the closest planet; Earth. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor escapes prison with the help of Ms Teschmacher and using his alpha wave tracking device, they go north to find Superman’s base. When they arrive Luthor activates the Fortress’ control panel and learns about the three Kryptonian villains who have escaped. He decides to collaborate with them to defeat Superman and take over the world. Clark and Lois are sent to Niagara Falls for a story and while there Lois suspects that he might be Superman. She jumps into the Niagara river, to prove her theory, but Kal remains in his Clark guise (even though he uses his heat vision to cut off a tree branch so Lois can hold onto it). This convinces Lois that he isn’t Superman, but just hours later his secret is revealed when he retrieves his glasses from an open fire barehanded without being burned. after some hesitation, he finally tells the truth and takes Lois to the Fortress. He decides to give up being Superman so he can live a normal life with Lois, despite his Father’s disapproval. A chamber containing the power of the Kryptonian red sun removes his powers, destroying the control panel in the process. He and Lois then sleep together.
Zod, Ursa and Non attack a NASA-Soviet moon mission and head down to Earth where they cause the destruction of East Houston. When the military become involved, they quickly overpower them and demand their surrender. The General refuses, saying his commander is the President, Zod then decides to make the President kneel before him and heads to Washington. Clark and Lois see Zod’s demand on tv on their way back from the Fortress, and the President’s call to Superman for help. Kal realizes that life with Lois can never be, and decides to erase Lois’s memories of all events surrounding Zod’s arrival, including her knowledge that Clark Kent is Superman.
When Astronomers claim to have found evidence of Krypton, Kal builds a new ship and embarks on a quest to find his home world. Once he arrives, all he finds is a desolate, partially destroyed planet, which begins to make him sick. Distraught by what he has seen and felt, he returns to Earth, crash landing back at the Kent farm -his true home. Five years had passed on his adopted planet during his voyage, his mother had almost given up hope of seeing him again, but assured him that though he was the last of his kind. He would never be alone. Deciding to reconnect with his life on Earth, Kal travels back to Metropolis and his old life as Clark Kent, Reporter at the Daily Planet. Life had moved on without him, Lois had a son and had won her Pulitzer, for her article “Why the World doesn’t need Superman”. He attempts to change her mind by granting her an exclusive interview and allowing her insight into what it is to be Superman - hearing the Earth crying out for a savior hour after hour.
Lex Luthor is also free from jail, having been released early, Superman was called as a witness for the release trial, but of course had not been able to attend, so Luthor walked free. The criminal was still obsessed with Superman, and conned a rich woman out of her fortune by marrying her, using the money to fund his second expedition to the Arctic, and the Fortress. Learning all he can about the crystals used to build the Fortress, he steals them from the console and schemes to create an island off the coast of America - once again meaning to use land as a commodity to hold the world to ransom. Lois investigates the power outage caused by Lex’s first experiment, which leads her to Lex’s yacht. She is trapped aboard with Jason (her son) , but manages to fax a sos to the Planet.
Kal (as Superman) flies out to the coordinates she gave, meaning to rescue her, but the aftershocks from the Island’s creation cause havoc in Metropolis and he has to deal with the disasters there before he can get to her. He saves Lois, Richard (Perry’s nephew) and Jason from Lex’s sinking yacht and sends them off in the seaplane Richard used to fly out there. Heading to the island, he walks right into Luthor’s trap, realising too late that the island contains pieces of Kryptonite. Luthor gloats over him in his weakened state, kicking Superman to the floor and allowing his gang to almost beat him to death. While he was trying to pick himself up off the ground, Luthor delivers the final blow, and stabs him in the back with a shard of Kryptonite. Kal defiantly manages to stand, despite the incredible pain, but falls off the island’s edge and into the ocean.
Lois saves his life by pulling him from the ocean and removing the shard of Kryptonite from his back. Though she asks him to fly back to the city with Jason, Richard and herself, Kal knows he has to deal with Lex and his Kryptonite island. He manages to fly the island into space and pushes it out of Earth’s orbit before succumbing to the effects of Kryptonite and his wounds. Falling to Earth, he is unresponsive and the world waits outside the hospital for any sign that Superman is alive. While he is unconscious, Lois visits and explains that Jason is his son. The next evening, Kal wakes and visits Jason and Lois, letting them know he will always be there for them.
A few years later Clark and Lois are married, Kal sharing his secret with her again. Together they bring up Jason who shows more and more superpowers as he grows, just as Kal had.

The Host - A Lena/Hope-Eve fic
How does Hope adjust to a human body? And how much of Eve is still in there with her?
Part 1 of ?
“Ms. Luthor?”
Lena started, her heart-rate spiking at the sudden sound in the otherwise quiet laboratory. The slide she had been positioning under the microscope went awry and would have fallen to the floor if not for quick reflexes that made for a very lucky save. She let out a hard sigh and turned around, trying to keep her patience. “Hope, we talked about this. You can’t just sneak up on me like that.”
Hope, wearing the face of Eve Teschmacher, looked apologetic as she stood with her hands clasped together. It had only been a couple of days since the transfer and Lena still wasn’t used to seeing her AI in the body of someone who had been a partner, a friend, and then who had held a gun to her head as she stood by her brother’s side. She’d told herself repeatedly that Eve was the only person she could have chosen to be Hope’s host - she could never subject an innocent person to this kind of hostile takeover, and yet despite all of this rationalization, there was a little part of her that felt gnawing guilt over what she’d taken from Eve despite her betrayal. She desperately hoped the sentiment would subside as time went on.
Hope took a small step backwards, sensing Lena’s mounting frustration. “Apologies, Ms. Luthor. I didn’t mean to frighten you. I only wanted to tell you…” Hope grimaced, looking apologetic as she searched for words. “Well, the host seems to be... deteriorating somewhat.”
Lena’s eyes flew open in a panic. “What?” She grabbed Hope/Eve’s arm and checked her pulse, scanning for any visible signs that Eve’s body was failing. She would have to run tests, blood work, maybe even an MRI. There were a million things that could be wrong, and god how could she have thought this was a good idea...
“Oh dear, maybe that was poor wording,” Hope said as Lena continued to poke and prod her. “I only meant that the host appears to be in need of sustenance - it has been over 72 hours since its last nutritional intake.”
Lena stopped and slowly met her gaze, raising one eyebrow. “Are you telling me you,” She corrected herself, “Eve, hasn’t eaten since I brought her here?”
Hope nodded, a loud groan from her stomach seconding the notion.
Lena dropped Hope’s arm and sighed again, rubbing her temple with one forefinger. She should have foreseen this, should have remembered that Hope was inhabiting an organic body now and would need to be treated as such in order to survive. “Ok, ok, let me just… I’ll go get something. And I’ll make sure to keep the lab stocked from now on.” Lena shed her lab coat and tossed it onto a nearby chair. “Just… keep working until I get back.”
“Yes, Ms. Luthor, of course.” Hope smiled and returned to her station. Lena noticed a slight wobble as she walked - dehydration, most likely, and felt a tiny wave of empathy for her. She would have to try to be more patient - Hope was the only one she could trust now, even if she was wearing the face of a traitor.
Lena returned twenty minutes later, laden with sandwiches from the deli around the corner, and Hope’s eyes widened at the sight. She walked briskly towards the food, licking her lips unconsciously, and Lena couldn’t help the tiny smirk that tugged at the corner of her mouth. She set the bag down on an empty table and started pulling halved sandwiches out, placing them in front of Hope. Hope immediately grabbed one and took a huge first bite as soon as she had shed it of it’s protective paper covering. She relished in it for a brief moment... and then her mouth fell open, half-chewed food spilling out onto the bare table in front of her. Her expression was that of pure disgust.
Lena gaped at her. “What’s wrong?”
Hope looked confused, as if she were trying to solve a difficult equation. She tilted her head and looked at the sandwich in her hand, studying it. “I… I don’t think the host likes tuna.”
Lena dropped her head, feeling more and more exasperated by the second. She might as well be caring for a five year old. She pushed a different sandwich towards her, trying to restrain herself. “Here, this one is turkey. I think it’s fairly safe to say that you’ll like turkey. Now,” She walked around Hope and picked up her discarded lab coat again. “Eat what you want, drink at least sixteen ounces of water, and then come back to work.”
“Yes, Ms. Luthor.” Hope replied softly. “I’m sorry. I am not… used to requiring things in order to function. I will do my best to monitor the host’s primary needs and tend to them accordingly.”
Lena felt that nagging sense of guilt again, eating away at her from the inside out. She lowered her voice to a quiet murmur. “It’s alright, Hope. Just… just finish your sandwich.” She went back to the microscope and tried to focus, but she kept one eye trained on Hope - for no other reason than to calm her own lingering paranoia.

Titan 3

Previously on Titan
Like thieves in the night, they snuck back to their place with no fanfare at all, no one waiting to welcome them, no food in the fridge, and no warning to a living soul in the immediate vicinity. Instead, under the cover of darkness and a private plane, with two or three decent-sized bags and the rest to follow, the pair left the relative safety of their water tower and made their way back to where it all ended again.
There was something innate about being in the penthouse. It felt like they’d never left, and yet it didn’t feel as if it were in the same lifetime. The entire city has this eerie sameness, but like looking at it through glasses, so that the blur of memories were now brought into focus and the little bit of unsureness about certain shapes were brought into a sharp focus.
The place remained empty, not for sale, but not in use. Lena chalked it up to always knowing they’d have to come back. She wasn’t sure why or how or when, but she knew that there was no real way they could stay away forever. And so she couldn’t exactly sell it, though she feigned interest in it a few times, always meaning to take up a realtor, but forgetting to do it the moment after she mentioned it.
So bags dropped on the floor of an empty living room around midnight. Albert was released from his carrier and he sniffed the floor and was left just as confused as when they arrived in Midvale the night before. Those were his smells beneath it all; those were his windows that held his views of an entire glittering world.
On a spare mattress in one of the guest rooms that remained, not needed in the move, they slept after not saying too much. There wasn’t much left to say, they realized. And while Kara slept, arm thrown protectively around Lena’s waist, Lena remained awake and confused by the home beneath the foreign.
For most of the night, she played with Kara’s fingers before the first tp of dawn made itself known. She kissed Kara’s cheek and pushed herself out of bed, falling immediately back into a similar routine, one that she thought she’d lost long ago, and yet her body took it up with no real prompting. It was part of her.
The house was empty and the city had this familiar tint to it, but what remained unchanged was the LCorp building. It was the same amount of steps from the front door to the elevator, but each one felt heavier than normal, like she was trudging through quick sand. It was the same ding when the doors closed. It was the same button, and it was the same blank feeling that came as the elevator hurled itself toward the top of the building.
It wasn’t really her office anymore. The one at the very top of the building was repurposed for the person who actually ran it for her. It was a much better use of space than an empty shrine waiting for her to come back. But it was all eery and familiar, and she hated each part of it, and she hated that she was back. Most importantly, she hated that she felt like a different person, and now she felt the past creeping into her bones.
“Ms. Luthor. Hello. Hi. Good morning,” the secretary greeted her after a few moments of moving around the halls unbothered.
Lena smiled to herself as she looked at her watch and realized how quickly word travelled. Somehow between her arrival and entrance to the elevator, a series of texts and emails and phone calls were made and received, leading to everyone’s day becoming absolutely anxiety-riddled.
“Could you let Ms. Arias know that I’d like to chat with her whenever she gets in,” Lena smiled. “No rush. I’ll just set up in a conference room.”
“Can I get you anything? I can have coffee brought--”
“I think I still know where everything is,” she shook her head. “Whenever Jess gets in, you can tell her where I am, and please tell Sam not to rush in to see me.”
“I will.”
“Thank you.”
She took a deep breath and looked around the reception area of her former floor, and Lena wasn’t sure why she oddly felt a small, small pang of longing, but she sure as hell did. The receptionist watched her anxiously, eager to send along all of their interaction.
“Should we have been expecting you, Ms. Luthor? I don't remember it being on the books.”
“No, this was a surprise.”
“Oh.”
“A good surprise, I think,” she promised. “Just thought it was time to check in.”
“I’ll let everyone know.”
“Thank you.”
Lena let herself move toward the elevator, adjusting her bag on her shoulder. It was still much too early, but she knew that Kara would be waking soon and to an empty bed. She decided to think about that instead of her family name and the idea of coming back.
For better or worse, she was home.
Before she opened her eyes, Kara knew she was almost alone in bed. Gone was the weight that took up the left side, gone was the warm body that melded into her side before dawn. Instead, an annoyed cat chirped and adjusted as Kara rolled over. Instead, all that remained was just her, with half the covers kicked off, and a gnawing kind of worry at how familiar it all felt, and how their reprieve felt like nothing more than a dream.
From her back, Kara looked at the ceiling in the guest room from the mattress she’d never slept on before, and she sighed before twisting around her finger with her thumb.
“What am I supposed to do today?”
Unemployed and back where she died, Kara had no answer. She’d concerned herself so much with making sure that Lena was okay and functioning and not regressing, that Kara hadn't really thought what would come next for her, further solidifying her idea that Lena Luthor was, in fact, a full time job in and of herself.
For much of their time abroad, Kara occupied herself with freelance work, and she was sure she could do that again. But something about being back, about falling into this etching of an old life, left her slightly disrupted and unsure. The last time she’d been in National City, she died. She once wore a cape and saved the world, and now she was no one. And that was okay, when they left and went to a new city. She could start over. And now she was back, and she was a ghost.
Mulling it over, Kara tossed herself out of bed and rummaged toward the kitchen in search of something to eat. When she didn’t find anything, she tossed on clothes and decided that she had a fancy thick matte black credit card and an empty house. She could eat and she could furnish their home again before Lena decided on more minimalism and another uncomfortable couch that got accidentally, but very purposefully broken after just a few weeks.
Hip deep in a suitcase, Kara lurched upward with two different shoes as her front door was tossed open.
“I have to hear from Sam that you’re back in town?” Alex yelled, her voice more stern than ever before.
“Hey,” Kara smiled sheepishly. “I was just about to see if you wanted to go get breakfast. I’m starving.”
“What the hell, Kara!”
Hands on hips, the alien very much wanted to tell her sister that she looked like Eliza, but that didn’t seem like a good way to start what seemed like a fight. Kara missed her sister so terribly, that event his face was welcomed. She’d accept her faux anger because they were in the same place.
“I was going to call today, obviously,” she shrugged. “We just got in kind of late, and it’s been a whirlwind--”
“Yeah, no shit.”
“Lena had to make sure Lex didn’t get any control of the company, and make sure he doesn’t do anything. She couldn’t-- I told her we didn’t have to, that we could leave it.”
“Not really her style, is it?”
“I don’t think she’s ever left anything alone since I’ve met her,” Kara agreed with a somewhat tired grin. “Talk about moral compass. She puts Supergirl to shame.”
“Is she coming back, too?”
For a moment, Kara paused and furrowed her brow. It was a question she knew the answer to, but one that she was afraid to utter aloud. So she looked at her sister and watched her features soften slightly so that she looked even more like their mother in a distinctly Danver’s way.
“The world doesn’t need Supergirl when they have Lena Luthor,” Kara decided.
“You could still work at the DEO you know. With me.”
“I’m retired.”
“I give you two weeks.”
Smug now, Alex finally gave in and hugged her sister tightly, earning a squeeze just south of comfortable. But she didn’t mind and she didn’t say anything. Things were weird and the world was changing, and yet, this felt like a moment of normal they both needed.
“So…” Kara whispered, still hugging her sister. “Breakfast?”
“Can we add presentations to the middle of next week? I want current projects, timetables, and future goals from departments and subsidiaries over the next month. Start local, and then spread. I might want to visit different facilities.”
“We haven’t done proposals in five years,” Sam furrowed and looked at the woman sitting catty-corner to her at the large boardroom table.
“We’re a little overdue then, aren’t we?” Lena smiled.
Taken slightly aback, Sam swallowed and tried to hide her thoughts while jotting something in the notepad in front of her. Between them in their corner, a good third of the table filled itself with open files and stacks of papers. Lena pushed the glasses from her face to atop her head and leaned back slightly in her chair, swiveling toward the side.
“I want to see where we’re at. I won’t let any part of this company be used for any nefarious plots. If that means more observing, then it does. I trust you, but I can’t muster enough trust for anyone else.”
“I get it, it’s just…” Sam sighed. “You’ve been gone, a long time. You told me you were taking a step back. A few dozen steps back, you told me.”
“And you are doing a spectacular job. I don’t want to take over again.”
“But you can’t help yourself.”
“You sound like my --”
“Ms. Luthor?” the phone buzzed from the secretary. “You have a visitor at reception, should I have them sent in?”
“Yes, Ms. Teschmacher. Thank you.”
The two powerful women stared at each other for a moment. It was Lena who toyed with her pen first, moving it between her fingers.
“I don’t want to disrupt what you’re doing,” Lena promised after a brief pause. “Think of me as an auditor.”
“I woke up this morning, and suddenly you’re back. It’s hard to adjust.”
“I know,” she nodded. “But things came up, and I won’t hide from my brother. And I won’t let him come close to what I’ve built.”
“Nothing is going to happen. He can’t want to try to get involved. He’s a felon.”
“You can’t put anything past him.”
“You don’t think you’re being a little overkill?”
“Maybe,” Lena shrugged. “But I can promise you that I won’t be caught any steps behind. The Luthors are chess players. Six moves ahead at all times. If anything, I’m behind.”
“Are you staying?”
Sam watched Lena as her eyes moved to the door where Kara sheepishly entered, knocking softly and sneaking in carefully, still used to being the plus one of a CEO. She watched as eyes lit up and Lena seemed to relax for a moment, distracted entirely by another human in the room.
“For now,” Lena nodded, not looking away. “We weren’t expecting you, darling.”
“I was in the neighborhood. Wanted to see how the first day back was going,” Kara hugged Sam, holding it and accepting the squeeze. “She’s not being too much of a pain, is she?”
“Just the usual amount,” Sam promised with a grin.
As easy as that, it wasn’t a business meeting any longer, and everyone in the room was grateful for it. Sam gripped the back of the chair as she watched Lena kiss Kara quickly and they had a conversation with eyes alone.
“I was hoping I could interest you in lunch,” Kara offered. “Unless you two have plans already. I already got an earful from Alex, so we went to breakfast. Do you want to yell at us, too?”
“I already yelled at her earlier,” Sam promised. “You two are exhausting, I hope you know.”
“We’re well aware,” Lena smirked. “Join us for lunch?”
“I should check in with my team and see how the day is going since I didn’t expect to be in a five hour meeting all morning.”
“They can wait another hour.”
“Ruby has a soccer game tonight that I have to make, or I would,” Sam nodded as she picked up her portfolio.
Lena gave Kara a look and earned on in return before clearing her throat.
“There’s something I want to talk about with you. That we,” she corrected. “We’d like to talk to you about something.”
It was less sure, and made Same slow her movements until she looked back at her friends. And though she’d been slightly disoriented and overwhelmed with having work-Lena back, there was this relief she felt to have her friend back as well.
“I really have to finish up. Is it something bad, or can it wait?”
“It can wait,” Lena promised quickly. Kara nudged her slightly and earned a furrow and look. “It’ll keep. I don’t want you to miss the game. Let me know if there’s anything I can get done for you.”
“You should come to the game,” Sam offered. “Ruby would love to see her favorite aunts.”
“We’ll be there,” Kara promised. “We’ll bring you back lunch.”
“I guess it will be nice having you back after all,” she teased.
“You’re sure I can steal her?” the former hero checked again, polite as ever.
“Please steal her.”
“Very funny,” Lena rolled her eyes and nudged the tall, sturdy girl beside her. “I am starving though.”
“Good.”
Lena linked her arm with Kara’s and walked around the table as Sam surveyed the remnants of the table and their files. The hours flew by, and it felt as if she was deeper under a pile of work than before she started, and just as unsure how to get out.
“You can leave them. I’ll work out of here today,” Lena interrupted, pausing at the door. “I’ll have Ms. Teschmacher find me an office somewhere.”
“You don’t want yours?”
“I don’t have one here,” she reassured her. “And I’m not about to take the CEO’s.”
Sam smiled slightly and shook her head.
“Have a good lunch.”
The penthouse was slightly more lived in than when she left in the morning, but Lena expected that with the update she’d been given at lunch. Of course, she hadn’t expected as much to be done, or for her to like it.
Understated and still not much more than minimalist, the living room had a couch and a television and empty bookshelves. A rug remained rolled up in a corner while groceries covered the kitchen counter, waiting to be put away in a rightful spot.
The cat didn’t even move from his new perch on the back of the couch when Lena kicked off her heels and tossed her bag on the still-wrapped chair blocking a closet door. All was quiet, and she realized Kara hadn’t made it back from friendly drinks with her old co-workers. Fresh from the soccer game and her favorite soccer player who squealed with excitement and ran off the pitch as the game started to give her a hug, Lena welcomed the time to steal away to the shower and hog its hot water and luxury for herself.
She needed to wash away the feeling of falling back into her old skin, and so she scrubbed until she forgot to think about LCorp for a few minutes. She scrubbed and soaked until she felt like she’d made the right decision.
In reality, she stood there, under the water, for a lot longer than anyone should have.
But by the time Kara made it home, Lena was cleaner than clean, and lounging on the new couch with an old book.
“Do you like what I’ve done with the place?” Kara asked with a grin.
“It’s squatter-chic, and I approve,” Lena returned, turning the page in her book.
“The rest comes on Thursday. You’re going to be impressed, I think.”
“I already am. This couch is fantastic.”
“I told you I could do it better than you,” she taunted before leaning down and kissing Lena’s forehead.
Kara stooped down and rested her chin on the edge of the couch and her cheek against Lena’s slightly wet hair, hugging her head and letting out a sigh.
“Did you tell them?” Lena asked as she flipped another page.
“No,” Kara sighed, exasperated and disappointed.
“Kara,” she complained. “What happened?”
“We just got to chatting, and I got nervous, and I didn’t know how to tell them.”
“Shame on you.”
Lena folded a page and closed her book before shifting to meet Kara’s eyes. She earned a face hiding in the pillow as best it could and smiled slightly to herself.
“Did you tell Sam?” Kara finally encountered.
“It didn’t feel like the right time,” she shrank.
“Ha! I knew you couldn’t do it either.”
“You didn’t tell Alex! You started it!”
“How do I tell my sister I got married without her knowing because no one was invited? Clark is going to lose his mind!”
“Don't forget Eliza.”
“Oh Rao, and her too!”
“They’re all going to kill us.”
Defeated again, Kara leaned more over her wife, flopping like dead weight under the realization that she was incapable of telling the people closest to her the happiest news of her life.
“Maybe we should have waited,” Kara mumbled. “Just gotten engaged and put on the big wedding for everyone.”
“We didn’t want that. Or at least you agreed that you didn’t,” Lena reminded her, finally reaching up to hold onto the forearm across her chest.
“Not for us, for them. We just signed some papers and I feel like we missed something.”
“You didn’t have to marry me.”
The voice was small. Too small.
“Not that. I like that part,” Kara chided her. “I’ve wanted to marry you since I was sixteen. I just mean, telling everyone should be easier. We’re thinking about it too hard.”
“Just tell them I made you.”
“You did make me.”
“Exactly.”
Kara came up for air and smiled before kissing her wife’s cheek again and hugging he a little tighter from the awkward angle of the couch. It didn’t matter. Lena needed it, and Kara was more than willing to agree. She would have married Lena years ago, but she knew it had to be on her schedule, or on her timeline.
It didn’t surprise her that Lena wanted to get married before coming back. It probably should have, but somehow Lena just made perfect sense. Of course she was afraid of losing everything. Naturally, she was thoughtful about what she wanted for their future. The dotted line was always there for Lena’s thoughts, it was just sometimes hard to follow and find if you didn’t speak the language.
“Have you decided to change the name to DCorp yet?” Kara teased. “Or Danvers Co?”
“Shut up,” Lena groaned and chuckled.
“DLCorp? You could always go back for the hyphen if you’d like.”
“Ugh. Never.”
“Then the sign out front is a lie, Mrs. Danvers.”
“That sign is never changing, ever again,” Lena vowed.
“Fine. But I’m just saying, that might be the easiest way to tell everyone.”
“Shut up.”

Stalled Out.
After five straight episodes of spicy action paired with some really satisfying emotional beats ... tonight’s episode landed with a thud for me.
For Kara and Lena specifically, it felt like revisiting well trodden ground yet again: the same almost-misses and ‘funny’ miscues we’ve seen many times before, and silly Lena getting all protective and emotional over someone who’s practically invincible.
The only incremental forward movement was Kara finally getting over the hump and concluding that she has to tell Lena about being Supergirl, no matter how betrayed Lena might feel - it’s the right thing to do, and whatever reasons she had at the beginning don’t outweigh the need to tell Lena the truth. But in the end, STILL no cigar ... and to me, both dissatisfying and frustrating after the real progress we saw between Lena and both Kara’s personas the last few weeks.
(All to be undone because of course, now that Kara is convinced she has to do it - someone else will do it for her.)
Other notes:
The sum total of Eve’s plan seemed to be having copies of herself to divide and distract Kara and Lena. Disappointing on the ‘diabolical master plan’ front, and I expected more from Ms. Teschmacher.
Lex has a steady supply of coerced test subjects in the form of alien prisoners from the DEO itself? That is fucking horrifying, and again begs the question of how this can happen right under Col. Haley and Director Danvers’ noses. As if I needed another reason to think the DEO needs to be rebooted entirely.
I like Kelly as a character and want to root for her and Alex. Her story about her fiancee, on its own, was moving. But this is the episode where the anvil just got way too heavy, and within such a poorly conceived ‘hey remember the Alex-kid thing we haven’t mentioned in months? surprise!’ disaster ... was this really the best vehicle for that?
The AL bits actually held together better than they usually do. I also loved Brainy trying to reason with Lockwood. (Was it me or did they leave Lena’s name out of it on purpose, for a good reason?)

Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3
Winn stuttered, “Is everything alright? I knew I should have come with you…”
Jess screamed, “Winn, not now. We don’t have time for this. I need you to hack into the Starlight Hotel kill the security cameras and internet and disable the cellular data in the hotel as well.”
Winn stuttered, “You know there is a lot of red tape just doing that…”
Jess rolled her eyes and yelled, “I understand what I am asking, but if this is of extreme importance, I will explain later.”
Winn went silent for a couple of seconds before he responded and said, “Done.”
Jess held a bated breath until she noticed a lot of patrons looking at their cell phones in confusion.
Mission success.
She felt a tap on her shoulder that startled her. She looked up and saw Dr. Farrell and his assistants staring at her intently. She had honestly forgotten about them during this crisis.
She held a hand over the speaker on her phone and whispered, “What?”
Dr. Farrell said softly, “I just wanted to tell you that hotel staff are getting the wrangler for the zebra to try to get him to calm down. Unfortunately, my assistants and I won’t be able to stay. It seems that Ms. Garfield burned her hand with the blow torch and it needs to be treated right away.”
Jess nodded and said, “Thanks. I understand.”
Dr. Farrell nodded and walked away followed by his assistants.
Jess looked back at the phone, rubbed her head, and said softly, “I am sorry for yelling earlier. It was just a high-stress situation that I needed to get handled.”
Winn chuckled nervously and said, “Considering I put my neck on the line, would kindly let me know why you had me do this.”
Jess chuckled nervously and said, “I will. But can you do one more tiny itty bitty thing for me? Can you delete any videos that have been uploaded from this location?”
Winn scoffed and said, “Already done. What do you take me for? A newbie?”
Jess smirked and said, “I knew I made the right decision in marrying you years ago.”
Winn chuckled and said, “Good to know it was for my tech skills.”
Jess smirked and said, “And your skills in the bedroom.”
“As much as you flatter me, you are changing the subject. I broke ten different rules for you. Why?”
Jess sighed. She didn’t want to tell Winn about his friend, but he did risk a lot for all this. She shook her head and said, “It wasn’t for me. It was for Kara and Ms. Luthor.”
“What! What happened? Is Kara okay?” asked Winn panicky.
Jess winced at hearing his spiral. Kara and Winn have been close ever since they were placed in the same foster home. Kara helped break them out when she realized Winn was being abused there and have been the closet of friends ever since. Outside of Jess, Kara was the only other person that he would risk anything for and Kara was the same way back.
Jess started pacing because she knew that it was going to distress him more. However, she took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself down. After a moment, she said, “Before I tell you what happened, I need you to promise to let me finish from beginning to end and not to panic.”
“You can’t be serious?”
Jess said more sternly and said, “I love you, but I can’t handle your meltdown and the chaos that is happening before me.”
Jess looked over to the hotel water fountain and saw that a larger crowd had formed, but Kara and Lillian didn’t seem to have a care in the world as they kept riding the zebra in circles around the fountain. Jess shook her head.
This is some fucked up mess.
Winn sighed and said, “Fine. I promise.”
Jess took a deep breath to calm herself and said, “Short version is that Kara and Ms. Luthor accidentally drank the banned version of the Brother’s Johnson whiskey and have been acting erratically ever since. At the moment, they are riding a zebra around the water fountain.”
“What?” Winn shrieked.

It is also absolutely hilarious to read about poor putupon Ms. Teschmacher dealing with the children after Knowing The Truth. Because now I'm feeling considerably less sorry for her than I did on prior reads of that fic!

Supergirl's Katie McGrath Reacts to Eve's Betrayal, Explains Why the Latest Alex/Kara Twist Is 'Gratifying' for Lena
If you thought Lena Luthor had trust issues before, just wait until you see how she recovers — or doesn’t — from the shock of learning that her loyal assistant has been anything but. Sunday’s episode of Supergirl, appropriately titled “All About Eve,” finds Lena teaming up with Alex and the Girl of Steel to investigate Ms. Teschmacher’s insidious connection to Lex.
“I missed working with Melissa [Benoist] and Chyler [Leigh],” Katie McGrath tells TVLine. “I missed the power you feel from having these very strong — yet slightly opposing — women coming together, putting everything aside to solve the problem at hand. They’ve all got very different strengths and skills, and it’s been a while since you’ve seen them all working together.”
Of course, the complicated (and ever-changing) relationships between the three characters made their scenes together “a bit confusing,” McGrath admits. “It’s like, ‘I know Kara is Supergirl, but Lena doesn’t know that. And now poor Chyler, on top of everything, has to add in, ‘Oh, I’ve lost my memory, so I also don’t know she is.’ All three of us just stood around trying to figure everything out.”
But McGrath isn’t complaining. In fact, she finds it “gratifying” that Alex has temporarily had her memory swiped. “I always get asked, ‘Lena’s so smart. How does she not know Kara is Supergirl?’ So now I get to say, ‘Look, if her sister can’t tell the difference, I think you should let up on poor Lena.'”
Below, McGrath discusses the many twists her character’s journey has taken as of late, including what the future may hold for Lena and James…
TVLINE | Let’s start with Eve. What was your reaction when you learned about her betrayal?
I was so unbelievably excited, because I love Andrea [Brooks]. She’s a spark of joy in my life and on set, and I was so completely gratified to see that they were taking her character and making it something integral. She’s such a huge part of the comics. You don’t really think about Lex without thinking about Teschmacher. She’s such an icon, and she so perfectly fit into the Supergirl story of strong, intelligent women. … If you think about it, they’ve been playing the long con for two years. I was like, “Man, you’ve really been setting this up for a while.” And Andrea plays it so wonderfully, so wide-eyed and innocent. When she turns, it’s heartbreaking, but so compelling.
TVLINE | It’s like Eve and Andrea have been playing the long con.
[Laughs] I swear to you, it’s making me question my friendship to her.
TVLINE | I imagine this will be a huge blow to Lena’s sense of security.
Oh, it’s massive. Lena has very deep-seated insecurities, which have to do with her trust issues. It takes her a long time to let her guard down and to let someone in, so to find out that someone she trusted so completely — in a way she’s never trusted anyone — is not only untrustworthy, but has been working with the one person who destroyed Lena in the past … I don’t think you’ve really seen the effects of what this has done to Lena as a human.
TVLINE | Is it bad that I’m excited to watch her fall apart?
You know, she’s always so composed and capable. Sometimes we forget that she’s one of the few human characters on the show. She doesn’t have special powers. She and Alex are the everywoman. Lena’s usually so smart and on top of things, you almost see her as a super, but to see her so frail will be very interesting. It’s going to be very dramatic to watch.
TVLINE | I’m also excited for the big Luthor family reunion we’ve been promised.
I haven’t had a scene with everyone together yet, but I will say that there is never a moment where I see Brenda’s name on a call sheet and don’t squeal with joy. She is the most elegant, most wonderful woman with the naughtiest sense of humor. She’s delicious and mischievous, and she brings such a gravitas to Lilian. For the past few episodes, I’ve just had scenes with her in prison scrubs, and she’s still the most beautiful, chilling, wonderful woman. I’m like, “How do you do this? We’re sitting at a table, and you’ve created a character that jumps off the screen.” Between that and Jon Cryer coming in, I feel like the Luthor family is absolutely spoiled with talent.
TVLINE | Speaking of Lex, we were all very curious to see what Cryer would bring to the role. As his scene partner, was there anything you found surprising about his take on the character?
We had quite a few scenes when we first started, but they were all of him with cancer. I was still really interested in what he was doing, but when we filmed the opening scene … he completely blew me away. I’d only seen one side of him when we were filming all the cancer stuff, so when I saw him playing the mad megalomaniac, I was like, “Oh, we are in for a treat.” He’s taken the idea of Lex from the comic book and really brought it to life. We are so lucky. Robert [Rovner] and Jessica [Queller] got it so right in casting him.
TVLINE | Switching gears, what can we expect coming up from Kara and Lena?
Lena’s going to have a difficult time coming to terms with the fact that she lied and betrayed her friendship with Kara to help Lex. It’s weighs on her very heavily, but it’s addressed coming up, so I don’t want to say too much.
TVLINE | How about Lena and James? Will she regret giving him the haranel?
For sure. She gave it to him not thinking it was going to give him powers. The man she loves, but ultimately realized she couldn’t be with, was dying. She didn’t fully understand what she was doing, but it was a Hail Mary. As the season goes on, you start to see the ramifications of that decision. I think she feels guilty that she made that choice for him, yet he’s the one who has to deal with it. She’s a strange Luthor, because she has such a huge moral compass. Any decision like this will weigh on her and affect her. The more you see Lex and Lilian, you see that the morality is uniquely Lena.

'Supergirl's' Andrea Brooks believes Eve Teschmacher could find redemption
Miss Teschmacher! The words echoed by Cat Grant and Lex Luthor (arguably with more power from the former) have given way to Supergirl's most devious character, who fooled them all for years: Ms. Eve Teschmacher.

Different worlds(AoS/Supergirl) ch. 2 PT. 2
PT. 1
Two weeks later, Daisy is settled in and became hacking partners with Winn, close friends with Alex, Vasquez--that reminded her fairly of piper-- Kara, and Maggie, and already had a close father-daughter relationship with J’onn. She kept her work life and social life to a minimum. The agent stayed at the DEO, with an alien named Mon-El and during her first week, taught him a lesson on not to mess with her. Even with him having powers similar to Kara, Daisy beat him easily. That’s when Kara finally admitted to herself that she had a crush on Daisy. On the beginning of her third week, Daisy was getting interviewed for a job.
Kara had helped her get a job as the new I.T. person at Catco Worldwide media. She would have been interviewed by the infamous and terrifying Cat Grant, but Daisy was being interviewed by new boss-- bosses actually-- Lena Luthor and James Olson. Daisy wasn’t scared, kinda nervous because she wants to make a new life. Something that she hasn’t really done. SHIELD had always been working in the shadows. Then HYDRA ruined that by making themselves known, and everyone was considered a fugitive.
Ridding of the thought, Daisy stood in the elevator calmly waiting for her destination to arrive. ‘Why is this taking so long?’ As if on cue, the doors opened and she quickly removed any emotion from her face, like she was taught. Kara was talking to Lena and James, not noticing that Daisy was nearing the office.
“Kara,” Lena interrupted smiling the reporter’s rambling, “your friend is here.” the reporter quickly stopped talking and turned around, smiling widely, her nose crinkling in the most adorable way. Daisy’s gaze softened slightly and the Luthor heiress noticed and smirked. Lena didn’t say anything and turned her gaze to her best friend.
“Kara, can you get me and James our usual from Noonan’s? Ms.Teschmacher is doing an errand for me.” She said sweetly, glancing at James as he shrugged, knowing what she was doing.
“Um, alright. I’ll see you later, Daisy.” The blonde waved and went towards the elevator before it closed completely. Daisy sighed softly and sat in the guest chair, as James sat in the chair opposite of her and Lena stood behind James, crossing her arms.
“So you're the new recruit at the DEO. Kara’s talked a lot about you, Ms. Johnson.” Lena smirked as she stared intensely at Daisy. But Daisy didn’t back down, she stared back with the same intensity, her face showing little to no emotion at all. James was impressed. The few people he knew that could do that were Lena-- in her moments-- Alex, Maggie, and J’onn.
“J’onn told me you're from another earth. Do you know Barry?” James asked, staring at Daisy with curiosity. The woman rolled her eyes and leaned back, tearing her eyes from the fierce stare. ‘Who is this Barry guy?’
“I’m from a different earth. So no, I don’t know whoever this Barry is.” she said, staring at both bosses calmly. James and Lena shared a look and James shrugged. The Luthor heiress smirks and steps forward.
“Ms. Johnson, if you would please follow me. Kara is usually right about people, let’s see if she is correct once more.” The Luthor said, not waiting for Daisy to follow. James watched as both women walked away. Even with the training he’s had at the DEO, James couldn’t hear Daisy’s footsteps. He was getting good at noticing footsteps and the only difficult one was Alex. ‘Just how much training has Daisy had?’

“Thank you for your time, Ms. Johnson. You will hear from Ms. Teschmacher, James, or myself within a few days to let you know if you got the Job.” Lena said calmly, Daisy walking besides her as she looked for any and all exits.
“I look forward to hearing from you, Ms. Luthor.” Daisy winked at Lena and entered the the elevator. Once the doors closed, Lena smiled and entered the office, where James went over papers.
“How’d it go?” James asked without looking up. The Luthor heiress sat down in the chair Daisy was in and thought for a minute before she smiled.
“I can see why Kara likes her so much in such a short time. She doesn’t seem like one to hurt any of us. And the fact that Alex herself already has grown to like her, it means something. This is her results from what you wanted to know. Now the decision to give her the job is now up to you.” She said, taking out the results of what Daisy had to do. “I’m going to check on Sam. Later, Olson.” the Luthor turned and walked out, waving behind her.
James chuckled and looked over the results. ‘These are better than when Winn did this for me. Looks like we have another hacktivist in our hands.’

Daisy gracefully moved around Alex as the superior agent gave a right uppercut to her face. The agents sparred everyday and it felt refreshing. For Daisy, it had been a long time since she had sparred with a superior. Alex was a good agent, but Daisy figured she had only been an agent for a couple years.
Alex on the other hand was happy. She only ever had J’onn to spar with, and seeing another person-- even if she was part alien at least-- was refreshing enough. How Daisy was an alien was a mystery to everyone but J’onn, and it intrigued the older Danvers to find out what she was. The only thing that bothered Alex, was the fact that she could sense something going on between her and little alien sister.
As they continued sparring, Daisy noticed a flash of blonde, blue and red in her peripheral vision. She quickly avoided a cross jab to the face and turned to Kara, who had silently entered the room. Daisy stood, her back to Alex, as she stared at the shy and quiet Kara Danvers, giving the older Danvers an advantage. Or so she thought.
Alex ran forward and was about to low sweep at Daisy’s feet, but Daisy--without turning around-- flipped over Alex and grabbed her arm, twisting it and buckling her legs, causing the superior agent to fall and be pinned to the floor. Alex was growling and trying to get Daisy off of her, but the ‘rookie’ didn’t budge. “God dammit, Daisy. How did you know how to do that?”
“I did have a teacher before. She would’ve taught you a thing or two.” The young agent smirked and got off of Alex. She winked at Kara as she passed her and went over to where her water bottle was. The younger Danvers blushed beet red as she tried to forget the graceful move as she walked over to her sister and helped her up. The older Danvers looked at Kara before looking at Daisy’s retreating figure.
“I’m going to take a nap. Farewell, Danvers sisters.” She waved behind her lazily, not looking at them. Alex had a look in her eyes as she stared at her younger sister, as Kara stared at Daisy’s disappearing figure, a faint blush on her cheeks. The younger Danvers knew her sister was staring at her, so she just walked over to the bench and took her cape off and tied her blonde hair in a high ponytail.
“Are we sparring or not, Alex?” Kara asked, completely avoiding her sister’s gaze as she walked to the center of the room. She heard Alex snicker a laugh as she typed a few things on the screen. The room began to glow a light green color and Kara felt her powers decrease and Alex waited until she adjusted to the lack of power. She hated it, but knew at some point her powers would fail her and she would have to rely on her own skills.
“Let’s see what you’ve got supergirl.”
