Macbeth (with the prophecy in effect)?
I was all set to say the prophecy won't protect him, because even if no man of woman born can harm Macbeth, Dracula is not a man but a Thing in semblance of a man, and moreover there's the Girlies
But then I looked it up
What the second apparition actually tells Macbeth is:
Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn
The power of man, for none of woman born
 Shall harm Macbeth.
Crucially, the word is "none." Not "no man." It's possible that "none" scopes under "man" but it by no means has to.
Now at this point we could start splitting hairs and speculating about Dracula's heritage and the circumstances of his mortal birth... but that's not the point. The prophecy doesn't say can, Macbeth hasn't got any special immunity (although he thinks he does), the prophecy says shall.
The prophecy was only ever about Macduff. Macduff is the person who kills Macbeth, therefore no one else kills Macbeth. QED.
I am therefore forced to conclude that Macbeth does not die in Castle Dracula because Macbeth dies from Macduff cutting off his head and he can't do both.
Or can he???
If Macbeth visits Castle Dracula and, while there, becomes a vampire, Macduff can still kill him for realsies later on by cutting off his head (once Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane). In fact, if Macbeth is a vampire, cutting off his head is the only way to kill him.
But the apparition does say that none of woman born shall harm Macbeth. Does not becoming a vampire constitute a harm? I guess it depends on who you ask.
My thinking is that Macbeth is already consorting with witches and demons and the forces of darkness (and, weirdly, actually getting them to listen to him) - what's one more? I propose that Macbeth goes to Castle Dracula for the express purpose of becoming a vampire, Scholomancy style. He wants the immortality as a way to explain why he doesn't (be)get kings, and Dracula can give it to him.
What is in this for Dracula? Well Macbeth is long enough ago that (if they are contemporary at all) Dracula is just starting out in his undead ways. And Macbeth outranks him - Dracula is voivode but Macbeth is a king. Forging an unholy alliance with a foreign sovereign might be something a Fresh Out Of Evil Grad School Dracula might see as a real opportunity
Does any of this count as surviving Castle Dracula? ...eh?? But I'm here for it.

...curious, technically Literally Any Woman could qualify, considering that they are not a Man of Woman Born. Are you counting that?
No! The quote says "None of Woman Born shall Harm Macbeth"
Also, the idea of *any woman* killing Macbeth is just. Not interesting? Like on the male side we have Lightning McQueen, Gandalf, Doofenshmirtz, Castiel, Sun Wukong, Frankenstein's Creature. And then on the Ladies side we would have.... Literally anyone? Jane from the grocery store? No! Where is the spice!? Where is the glamor!?!? We need Smurfette! Annabeth! Thumbelina! Alecto! Tinkerbell! Eve!
This is a competition for loopholes! Exceptions! Not anyone who isn't a man. That's lame!

500 Follower Celebration! Part 2!
The prophecy bestowed upon Macbeth, delivered by apparitions three summoned by triplicate witches under the service of Hecate, triumvirate goddess of witchcraft, lists the following clauses:
Macbeth should beware the thane of Fife
Macbeth is unable to be harmed by any man of woman-born
Macbeth shall not be vanquished until Great Birnam wood comes against high Dunsinane hill.

tumblr blog cantheykillmacbeth is unfortunately wrong on many counts because the witches' original prophecy is:
Be bloody, bold, and resolute; laugh to scorn  The power of man, for none of woman born  Shall harm Macbeth.
the words often taken as the prophecy are from macbeth's own mouth, a misremembering of the witches' words:
The spirits that know  All mortal consequences have pronounced me thus:  'Fear not, Macbeth; no man that's born of woman  Shall e'er have power upon thee.'
note the crucial difference between none (i.e. anyone born of a woman) and no man (i.e. any man born of a woman). the witches' prophecy does not have a gender clause. the witches' words are always intentionally vague, but it certainly appears that no woman could kill macbeth any more than a man

"Be bloody, bold, and resolute; laugh to scorn/ The power of man, for none of woman born/ Shall harm Macbeth"
"Despair thy charm, And let the angel whom thou still hast served Tell thee, Macduff was from his mother's womb Untimely ripped"
...
OOPSIE!!!!
The witches thought that a c-section counted as not being of woman born, but when Macduff tried to kill Macbeth, it didn’t work! Silly them! Now with the prophecy in full swing and Hecate riding their asses, they better find someone who can actually defeat Macbeth, and quick!
1,000 years later, Macbeth is still king and has now taken over the entire world!
In this universe where all fictional characters are real, the witches must assemble a team of characters marked by Hecate from “birth” with a special MacBrand denoting that they are capable of ending Macbeth’s reign of terror!
CURRENT CAST:
Doofenshmirtz
Orion Fowl (but not Artemis)
Shadow the Hedgehog
Woody from Toy Story
Lighting McQueen
Pinocchio
Gingerbread man
"This fucking guy" (cookie from chip ahoy commercial)
Tinkerbell
Annabeth Chase
Dean Winchester (s4 and on)
The Creature (Frankenstein)
Winnie the Pooh
Criteria for additions:
Human or of human intelligence
Not Traditionally Born (Naturally born OR c-section) FROM A WOMAN (of their species). If you find us a biological child of a trans man, that's fair game!
Not totally OP (this sadly disqualifies Athena, Dionysus, The Powerpuff Girls, the Monkey King, and Jesus (second coming). They may still appear in the story in some capacity though)
Resurrected characters must be in a new body (Danny Fenton is still in his original body, so he wouldn't work, but Dean Winchester's body post season 4 was reconstructed by Cas, so he does)
No Robots*
Clones cannot be mass produced (for storytelling reasons- Boba Fett would totally work but the Clone Army would not)
Funny
Can you think of Any More Characters using the updated criteria?

Important question that I think you alone may answer:
Can little boys, of woman born, slay Macky B?
I know that the prophecy says "no man," but does it stop at gender, or go on to age? Let's say a group of boys, all born of women - aged 13, 7, and 4, respectively - all take a stab at their own individual Macbeths. Can they win?
well the snare in the trick is that it's not actually no man of woman born! oh, certainly macbeth thinks it is--
Tumblr media
[image description: the following lines from Macbeth (character):
Bring me no more reports. Let them fly all. Till Birnam Wood remove to Dunsinane I cannot taint with fear. What’s the boy Malcolm? Was he not born of woman? The spirits that know All mortal consequences have pronounced me thus: “Fear not, Macbeth. No man that’s born of woman Shall e’er have power upon thee.” Then fly, false thanes, And mingle with the English epicures.
"no man that's born of woman" is underlined in red. end description]
but that's not what the witches actually say!
Tumblr media
[image description: the following lines from Macbeth (play):
SECOND APPARITION  Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn The power of man, for none of woman born Shall harm Macbeth.
/end description.]
the exclusion of non-men is much less a prophecy problem and much more a macbeth's-terrible-terrible-toxic-masculinity problem. so unless those little boys are C-section-born... but let's not be pessimistic! i'm sure if he really set his mind to it, a properly-motivated suitably-war-crazy little boy could--
Tumblr media
[image description: the following lines from Macbeth (play):
YOUNG SIWARD  Thou liest, abhorrèd tyrant. With my sword I’ll prove the lie thou speak’st. They fight, and young Siward is slain. MACBETH Thou wast born of woman.
/end description.]

Re-reading Macbeth like—
What if I’m not a man, what if I’m a monster? What if I’m not a man, what if you’re a man? What if I’m not a man, what if I’m a girl? What if I’m king? What if you’re king? What if we’re witches? What if I’m the Serpent of Eden? What if I’m the heel crushing her skull? There’s only room for one man and the one is you, you, you. You should have raised a baby girl, I should have been a better son. Laugh to scorn. The power of man. For none of woman born. Shall harm Macbeth. Macbeth shall harm Macbeth.

okay i'm curious because i have an opinion on this but i feel like it's controversial. do you read this line:
Tumblr media
as "laugh to scorn the power of man (gender), for none (no man) of woman born shall harm macbeth" OR "laugh to scorn the power of man (humanity), for none (no person) of woman born shall harm macbeth"

You have an "ask me about my headcanons" and a Sherlock Holmes related url, so here I am. Give me the headcanons, please.
OH BOY OH BOY
Tumblr media
TO BEGIN WITH
SHERLOCK HOLMES:
He's autistic he's autistic he's so autistic. Every Sherlock ever is autistic I don't give a shit. ACD Sherlock BBC Sherlock RDJ Sherlock Elementary Sherlock Basil of Baker Street Sherlock Gnomes. Him and Enola Holmes are ADHD/ autism solidarity.
He's asexual and demiromantic. He doesn't lean towards a specific gender he just becomes attached to whoever is understanding enough to let him Stim (he stims by humming and hopping up and down. Sometimes he claps his hands in a repetitive, drumlike rhythm. His special interest is beating pedophiles with a cane). He's also dyslexic. Whenever he gets in the mood to crossdress in public Watson goes out with him and pretends they're a married couple so they don't get harassed, because Watson is an Allistic Ally. SO IS IRENE FOR THAT MATTER.
SHAKESPEARE:
Romeo and Juliet are t4t. Obviously the story can be played however yall want but I love this interpretation personally
Hamlet is asexual biromantic and has OCD and possibly autism (headcanon pending)
Beatrice and Benedick are both same-sex leaning bisexuals
Banquo trans man real. "No man of woman born shall harm Macbeth" hm? A c-section baby kills Macbeth while Fleance, child of a trans man, steals Macbeths crown from under him. TWICE fucked over by a man "not of woman born".
STAR WARS:
Anakin is transmasc and intersex. His conception through the midichlorians was achieved without XY intervention, which would cause him to be born with some kind of internal or external irregularity. I also really like to think of him as transmasc because I love the thought of his mother affirming him and the Jedi helping him transition 💙. Anakin also has Borderline Personality Disorder (all force-sensitives are neurodivergent)
Ahsoka is a bigender sapphic (she is both nonbinary and female). She's also auDHD
Obi-Wan is bisexual and dyslexic, he also has OCD
Maul is biromantic asexual. Seduction does NOT work on this man. If you send him nudes he'll break into your house and murder you. He's also autistic.
This is just a few, cause idk all of your interests or if you even know what I'm talking about. My other interests are Trollhunters, Disney, Dreamworks shows, Gothic literature, Frankenstein, musical theatre, the Phantom of the Opera, dumb stuff like that lol.
BEFORE YOU GO HAVE SOME ETYMOLOGY BECAUSE IM OBSESSED
The name "Holmes" is an English surname meaning "island" ohohoho symbolism.
Hamlet comes from the Old Norse Amleth meaning "fool", translated through the Irish Amlaidhe, which means "Wild/ furious/ raging".
Macbeth comes from a real life Scottish king Macbeth, whose name is from Scottish Gaelic "bheatha" Meaning "a religious man".
Anakin is both a Native American warriors name and similar to Ananke, Greek Goddess of necessity, unavoidable fate, and slavery.
Ahsoka is named for Ashoka the Great, Emperor of the Mauryan Dynasty of India.
Obi can mean "soul" in Swahili, and Wan is Old English for "pale with grief". Ken means "sword" in Japanese

Macbeth Murder Match!
Laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth.
Welcome to the Macbeth Murder Poll!
For those unversed, in the play Macbeth, Macbeth is given a prophecy by three witches: No one born of a woman can harm him.
In the play (spoilers!) this is resolved by MacDuff, who was born via c-section. However that's boring, so lets do something more fun!
Submit your blorbos who you think could kill Macbeth!
Submissions will be open for quite a while as i am currently also running @white-boy-bracket and need to wait for that to conclude to get to bracket building! I'm opening it now though so we can get lots of contestants!
Questions welcome!
Inspired by: @system-bracket @ocd-character-polls @butler-bracket @beautiful-boy-bracket @artificialkids-2k23-official @aroaceswagtournament @the-nobody-tournament @worlds-worst-dad-competition and more!
RULES FOR SUBMISSION:
Characters do not need to be physically strong enough to kill Macbeth, this is about technicality!
Characters in header are not guaranteed entrants- if you like them, submit them!
NO:
C-Section babies! That counts as 'being born'!
Babies born naturally *from a woman*
Mass Produced Clones
I'd say no real people but honestly if you can find me a real person who was not born, good on you.
Any animal! Animals need to fit another criteria! "Woman" here means any woman identifying member of ANY species!
YES:
Artificially Created (carved, cloned, assembled, baked)
"Born" in an unusual way (sprung fully formed from head, mother disintegrated without baby)
Loophole caused by throwaway line ("Neither of my parents showed up for my birth")
Mpreg
Characters resurrected into a body that meets the above criteria
Other fun technicalities i haven't thought of!
Orion Fowl clause: (below)
Body is of woman born, but the rules of the universe the character is in appear to treat an entity as separate enough to be affected differently from host by magic.
Tumblr media
In the above scene, Artemis (with magical DID) has been enthralled by a rune, and is completely controlled. However, when an electric shock causes Orion (an alter) to front, he is not possessed despite the rune branded into the body's skin. For this reason, Orion counts as separate enough from Artemis to count as "not of woman born", and thusly qualifies to kill Macbeth. Additionally as I am using Orion's name to explain this concept, he is the only guaranteed entrant.

(Re-)Reading Shakespeare 1/38: The Two Noble Kinsmen
"Of all the flowers methinks a rose is best."
My first reading of this play and I was absolutely blown away by how gay this is. I mean we have actual confirmation of Emilia being lesbian?!? Hippolyta says that Emilia can never love a man like she loved her dead friend Flavina, what could of course refer to a friendship kind of love, but we know from the prophecy in Macbeth ("none of woman born shall harm Macbeth") how literal wording must be taken in Shakespeare sometimes. Then we have Pirithous thirsting on the soldier's bodies in very much detail and constantly being put in the same shoes as Hippolyta and Emilia instead of the other male characters. And then the whole plot as such is a delayment of heterosexuality, as it begins with the wedding of Hippolyta and Theseus which is interrupted by the battle against Thebes. There also is the jailer's daughter suggesting to her wooer to go to the end of the world to marry (meaning it's not gonna happen) and Theseus proposing to Palamon and Emilia to postpone their wedding for some time to properly mourn Arcite first. Plus, because Mars fulfilled Arcite's wish to win the battle and Venus fulfilled Palamon's wish to win Emilia, there is high potential that Diana holds her promise to Emilia that she has to marry neither one of them. This means that there is no heteropatriarchal reconciliation in the form of marriage at the end of this play, what leaves the queer potential unerased and I am just here for plays like this.
