#non-SAM ace
Text
i get that many aroaces experience their aromanticism and asexuality as connected in some way, but it's still important to acknowledge that "aroace" and "aro/ace" are not umbrella terms for the entire aspec community. as somebody whose aromanticism and allosexuality are inextricably intertwined and can't be fully separated from one another, you don't see me using "aroallo" for all aspecs - that clearly wouldn't be an accurate reflection of the whole community! "aspec" is a good term that includes all of us - please consider using it when referring to the general community.

idk if you already did this but Non-SAM Asexual??
Great request :]
This is another addition to these
Tumblr media
Non-SAM ace, similarly to Non-SAM aro, does not use the Split Attraction Model. They are simply and only Asexual. They are also amazing and wonderful.
I originally made these for valentines day. is it too late to say happy valentines day for these now? Nah. Happy valentines day :]

Allosexuality and asexuality do not form a binary. In fact both form spectra of their own that mix and a person's relationship to them can be quite complicated. Moreover, it is possible to completely be neither and I'm tired of people making people choose.
I am non-sam aro, I am just aro, and my sexual attraction is so heavily influenced by my aroness that it doesn't make sense to me to label it separately. From what I have read of other non-sam aros' experiences, this isn't even uncommon.
All of this also applies to alloromanticism and aromanticism too.
Destroy the idea that there is an allo/a binary.

Happy Pride to all non-SAM aros and non-SAM aces!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ID: Left: the non-SAM aro pride flag. Five stripes, from top to bottom: dark blue, light blue, white, light green, and dark green. Right: the non-SAM ace flag. Five stripes, top to bottom: dark purple, light purple, white, light teal, and dark teal.)
Non-SAM aro - An aromantic person who does not use the split attraction model. They are only aro and do not identify with an allosexual or asexual identity. This may be because they cannot differentiate between types of attraction, feel as though their aromantic identity is most important, or because they do not find sexuality labels useful or relevant.
Non-SAM ace - An asexual person who does not use the split attraction model. They are only ace and do not identify with an alloromantic or aromantic identity. This may be because they cannot differentiate between types of attraction, feel as though their asexual identity is most important, or because they do not find romantic labels useful or relevant.

When and why did people start using aroace when they actually mean aspec? Why take a perfectly inclusive term and make it less inclusive? And then force all non-aro aces and non-ace aros into the label of aroace and just fucking ignore them? Not to mention all other aspecs that aren't romantic or sexual. Because so many people seem to forget that exists. And not all of those are aro and/or ace.

aromanticism deserves to be celebrated outside of the context of asexuality.
aromanticism deserves to be accepted and discussed without even mentioning asexuality.
aromantic allosexuality deserves to be celebrated.
aromanticism, on its own, with nothing else added, is fucking awesome.

hi not so friendly reminder that this blog is inclusive of aros and aces. yes, even cishet aros and aces. I really hate how I have to make a post like this. cishet aros and aces are still queer *because* being aro or ace (or aroace) is queer. queer is not the same thing as "not cishet". and if you think otherwise get off my blog and never come back until you've unlearned your aphobia.
thanks. (OP is a minor. Don't be weird)

People who only center asexual aromanticism but claim to be talking about aromanticism as a whole NEED to do better. Include other aro identities like allosexual aro, non sam aro, neutrosexual (neu) aro, aromid, unit aro etc. Aromanticism does not begin and end with aroaces.
Non-ace aros do exist and it's not representative of aromanticism if you only focus on aros who are also ace. If your resource or article etc. focuses solely on aroaces, please call it an aroace or aromantic asexual article/resource/etc. instead of pretending it can represent aromanticism entirely.

A reminder that 1) asexuality and aromanticism are spectra, there isn't an allo/a binary, and 2) the repulsed/favourible spectrum isn't reserved for the use of aspec people. It is possible to be allosexual and be sex averse or alloromantic and romance repulsed. "Attraction doesn't necessarily mean action" also applies to allos and I wish that was more widely accepted because it would save a lot of allos a lot of hassle. I just didn't expect to have to point either of these put to the aspec community

obviously you should respect the original tags on any post you reblog, like if you reblog an aroallo's post don't tag it as asexual because that's rude and erasing OPs identity (unless they say it's okay of course), but if someone makes their own post and tags it as aromantic but it's talking about sex instead of romance, that's not mistagging, and you should believe them when they say that their relationship with sex is a part of their romantic orientation, because it probably is.
not all aspecs use the SAM nor are they required to pretend to do so for your comfort. believe aspecs when they say their experiences are tied to their identity, even if it isn't the same identity you would use, I'm begging you.

for me, being non-sam aro isn't like. not being able to see the difference, or even not thinking the difference matters. for me it's like my romantic orientation is aro and my sexual orientation is... also aro. like i arguably do experience sexual attraction (which is why i sometimes call myself alloaro as well) but the way i experience it is so unconventional and so so influenced by my aromanticism that it doesn't really make sense to call myself ace or allo. which is why i'm just aro
