Posting podfic episodes was something I got into in the peak of the pandemic. I wasn't sure if anyone would listen, I wasn't even sure if anyone would let me record their work. I was out here preparing audition tracks to send to the authors I love to convince them I could do my favourite stories justice.

Then I started posting, and people started listening, and I found myself getting excited about creating stuff in a way I hadn't been since choir became a high risk activity. I can't express how important this was for me in those years, and how much everyone who I interacted with means to me still. Every author who said yes, every listener who left a kudos or comment, every person who asked me if I would ever put the background music on Spotify (sorry btw), I'm so glad I've gotten to share space with you on this silly little website.

It's been almost two years since I updated a fic at this point, and yet Spotify wrapped is telling me my listeners are up 14% this year? It is so cool to create something, step back, and watch it continue its little journey through the web without any help from you.

ALSO the number of countries people listened from this year? I can't believe there's someone in Norway and Singapore listening to me read them stuff.

And to the 27 people for whom I'm their TOP PODCAST? Wow, just thank you. That is so amazing and cool and surreal

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

It's honestly crazy that discussion around testosterone HRT skews so much towards the beginning stages of it (to the point that you have dozens of guys thinking their transition is "failed" if they don't pass by like a year in lol) and what the initial changes of the first couple of months to years look like, like the classic laundry list of those early basic changes like bottom growth, voice drop, etc, when IMO literally none of that compares remotely to the depth and intensity of the long term total masculinization you start to experience like 3-5+ years in.

#also has made it increasingly difficult to relate to those early into their transition honestly #like not in a bitter way it’s just like hard to express how diff the experience is #of being like a year on T vs 5 😭#ETA I muted this post ages ago now but fwiw seeing transphobes pop up in the notes on occasion just to say cruel reactionary shit #you are clowns I cannot imagine seeing a post that is ONLY about discussing with folks about the reality of a medication #and choosing to make that your moment to get a schoolyard bully jab in about how you find it gross or something.#you are less well adjusted than must children. may the universe be kinder to you than you are to others.
