It’s hard for me to say something or anything at all. I don’t know… I’m in pain right now. The darkest feelings from memories that I’ve always wanted to escape from are catching up to me. I can’t take this excruciating pain and agony anymore. People are cruel. Sometimes I ask myself if love really is out there, if it’s kind enough to wait for me to give me its sincere and beautiful magic like how they called it at all or if there’s nothing like that because if there is, would it betray me like this? What does it all mean? Is everything just love? What is love? Is it just a journey one must go to find themself again? It’s hard, it’s painful. I feel like losing myself. Why does one have to go through pain?

I can’t get these bitter feelings off of me. My world is falling apart with nothing to hold on to. You’re the one i want to avoid the most but at the end of the day I somehow always find myself holding on to you again. You’re the only one I can remember, the only one I can hold onto even if I don’t want it. The only thing I can do is to deny it so I won’t believe it but I know that’s not the truth. You’re keeping me from collapsing completely. I know it’s selfish if I say I want you to ease my pain, to take my pain away but right now you’re the only safe haven I have.

I want to be a sweet and friendly person for you but there’s all this anxiety. The horror and the fear from the past are holding me back. I’m scared. I’m scared to scare you. I’m triggered when I see your face. You need to stay out of my way. I don’t want to hurt you. I fear to make this mistake again. To trust and then being let down again. Loving you feel like a dream but I’m too unstable. What if I can’t ever get out of that dream although it’d be a beautiful thought but I’m scared to mess up. I used to have everything but you and now I have nothing but you to hold onto. Isn’t that sad or just a cliché? I do want to give you a love so pure and I want love you unconditionally but maybe love is not in it for me, maybe i just need to focus on myself. NSR Halloween DLC ideas, just in time for Spooky Night!

The soundtrack for the Halloween DLC would feature instruments associated with the holiday being incorporated into the songs, such as pipe organ and theremin.

The Bosses

DJ Subatomic Supernova

DJSS is a scarecrow, wearing a straw hat, flannel shirt, and denim overalls (cut-off, of course!).

For the battlefield, the background of the Planetarium is a deep orange. The planets he uses to attack are replaced with pumpkins, and the asteroids are replaced by a swarm of crows.

Sayu

Sayu is a cute ghost girl. (I felt it would be fitting since she’s a floaty character.) She's slightly translucent and sports a ghostly wisp-like tail rather than her regular mermaid tail. Her colour palette features off-whites and faded pastels, making her look more etherial.

Sayu wears a tattered white Victorian/Lolita-style dress, lacy cuffs around her wrists and a little bow on her head.

For Phase 2, her dress becomes poofier and more elaborate as small ribbons resembling tentacles appear around her waist. Her trident is completely white.

Phase 3 has her go full-on ghost bride. Her dress has a huge multi-tiered skirt, her hair is adorned with a long veil, and her tentacle ribbons have grown to full length. Her deep-sea mode has her face turn glowing green with solid black eyes, making her resemble a spookfish, while her “tentacles” feature flickering lights similar to a bioluminescent jellyfish.

Her final form is basically your stereotypical bedsheet ghost shape with her legs sticking out the bottom.

Sayu’s team are dressed in dark wizard-like robes, and each of them are wearing masks like the ones worn by Lock, Shock, and Barrel from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

For the battlefield, the “landscape” is dotted with jack-o-lanterns, tombstones, and dead trees. The background is changed to a seafoam green color, with wispy little ghosts flying about.

Yinu and Mother

Yinu is dressed as a cute little witch. Her hair is in pigtails similar to her Christmas skin, and her witch hat is adorned with fall leaves and little jack-o-lanterns.

Mother, meanwhile, is a spooky Halloween tree with spiders. Her dress is a dark wood colour with translucent, ragged-edged sleeves, and she wears a thorny hairband and spiderweb earrings.

The ends of her “hair” have been dyed the same colour as her dress, and she wears both black lipstick and black nail polish.

When she grows bigger, her branches begin to sprout large thorns, which end up making her cage form look more like a spiderweb. (There are even little fake spiders sitting on top of it!)

For the battlefield, the stage is decorated to evoke a bountiful harvest, with pumpkins, hay bales, bundles of wheat, stalks of corn, apple trees, cornucopias, and garlands of leaves.

Both the gate and the giant piano hammers are adorned with thorny branches and autumn leaves.

1010

1010 are pirate ghosts. (As a fun gag, Blue could wear two eyepatches instead of his sunglasses!)

Meanwhile, Neon J is their ghostly captain, complete with a captain’s hat, a sword at his belt, a fake parrot on his shoulder, and – once again – a fake beard attached to his screen head.

For the battlefield, the flying limousine is decked out to look like a pirate ship, with a mast, a crow’s nest, and a tattered sail.

(I felt 1010 as pirates would be fitting since they're a navy-themed boyband and Neon J was a captain in the navy.)

Eve

Eve is dressed as Medusa.

Her dark green dress has a scaly pattern, and she accessories with a lot of gold, including spiralling gold sandals and a golden diadem crown.

Her hair has been dyed, shaped, and styled to look like several little writhing serpents.

Her backpiece is composed of even more snakes in gold and teal which wrap around her upper torso and spread out behind her like a peacock’s tail.

Eve’s pupils even become snake-like starting at Phase 2!

For the battlefield, Eve’s gallery has been transformed into an Ancient Greek temple, but with a postmodern/vapourwave twist. Stylized Greco-Roman columns with snakes wrapped around them line the walls, and an ancient looking gold chandelier hangs from the ceiling. The left side would be eggplant purple while the right side would be cerulean blue.

If the player gets hit by the eye lasers from Eve’s giant statue, they’ll actually turn to stone and be frozen in place for a short time.

For Phase 2, on Mayday’s side, the snakes wrapped around the columns have grown larger and are now looming over Mayday, their faces twisted into angry snarls (representing Eve’s derisiveness and hostility towards May).

Meanwhile, Zuke’s side features floating fragments of ruined columns (representing how lost and incomplete Eve felt after Zuke left her).

Phase 3 is where it really starts to get trippy. Both rooms feature ruined columns and floating shards, along with giant brightly colored snakes slithering all over the background.

The shards in Zuke’s side reflect images of faces screaming in anguish, while the shards on Mayday’s side have limbs protruding from them- one shard has three legs protruding from them in reference to a trinacia. (Look up what a trinacia is to understand the reference!)

Tatiana

Tatiana is a vampire.

She wears black and red robes with bat wing-edged sleeves and a wide collar. Her earrings are coffin shaped, and she has small, pointed fangs that can be seen when she opens her mouth.

At the beginning of her battle, she starts throwing flaming bats.

For the battlefield, Tatiana's office/battle arena is made to feel like a vampire’s castle tower.

The whole room is lit with a deep red glow, and the tall windows that feature the NSR murals are topped with pointed arches, giving them a Gothic look.

You can even see some glass bottles filled with (ahem) red liquid on Tatiana’s desk.

Meanwhile, the Goolings' stage outside is decorated with jack-o-lanterns and hanging skeletons.

DK West

DK West is dressed as Frankenstein FrankenWest!

His look consists of neck bolts, stitch markings, and a dark ragged recolour of his original outfit.

His bull shadow puppet has matching neck bolts, which even emit shadowy electricity when it appears during the battle.

Bunk Bed Junction

Mayday

Mayday is dressed as an imp, wearing a bright red dress with black sleeves and waistcoat, black wings, red horns, and a red tail.

Her guitar is deep purple and splattered with glowing orange paint. It emits a wolf howl when she powers it up for the Showstopper.

Zuke

Zuke is a werewolf. Ragged clothes with fake fur poking out, extra fur attached to his forearms (don’t ask how got it on there), pointed ears, a bushy tail, pointed fangs, his nose has been painted. Pretty simple.

His drumsticks are splattered with glowing green paint and tipped with tiny light-up pumpkins.

The Other NPCs

Ellie has little bat wings attached to her back and wears a springy bat antenna headband.

And last but not least,

Kliff . . . is just wearing a pair of Groucho Marx glasses. Yup. That's it.

he's not too bad, but he is a little picky about what he will and will not drink

low key judges people for their choice of beers

side eyes people who order basically liquid candy as a drink (for a cocktail at least, he will rot his teeth on mountain dew don't get it twisted)

he mostly does pints but his fav mixed drink is a moscow mule

or a spiked energy beverage

speaking of drinks he always has a crazy amount of them

g-fuel, red bull, monster-- every energy drink type thing you've seen he's probably got

I joke about his teeth rotting but in all honesty he takes good care of them

that's the one gamer stereotype he does not fall in town

he's low key germophobic so his apartment and battle station are SPOTLESS

he defo has those touchland hand sanitizers cause he's a boujee bitch

speaking of boujee he's actually p well off

started trading stocks young and did crypto till it tanked

he doesn't like to talk about his crypto days (he was a hard crypto bro at it's peak)

usually his drunk rambles are about crypto

his parents are decently well off too but he doesn't talk to them much

they don't have a bad relationship but it's definitely one of those 'you see the family only around the holidays' kind of deals

he has a lot of internet buds but I think deep down he's bad at making real connections and actually gets pretty lonely

likes watching animal videos, WOULD NOT get a pet

rarely has people over to his place, took him a while to fully mentally accept having you over

he was determined to get over it though cause he really wanted you around

would never shower with someone cause that just feels unsanitary-- the shower is for CLEANING

Probably not a surprise to anyone but he got bullied a lot in high school

Has been writing poetry since he was 10 and has notebooks full of poems and short stories from over his life

really wants to write some kind of vampire mystery series centered around a brooding poet vampire but also he's bad at writing mysteries

I've sad this before but he's in a book club with Nimh and Cashew

he keeps trying to get them to read romantic novels

Cashew was game until he realized Poe meant like Lord Byron romantic

Mary Shelley Romantic

thinks Mary Shelley losing her virginity on her mother's grave is the coolest thing ever and is high key jealous

Mary Shelley is honestly his hero

secretly got addicted to soap operas

he wants to stop so bad but he can't

he doesn't have a pet but if he did he'd be that dude you can totally tell has a pet cause he's always covered in fur

not that Poe would even care

Poe actually never much cared for birds and is still salty about becoming a magpie

Boa snake.

You can't argue with me.

Albino type, with red eyes.

Everybody is afraid of him and his pet.

There are gossip's that say his snake eats his enemies or dead bodies.

This boy is really long. Longer than his dad.

Prosciutto

Ferrets.

All kinds and colors.

You're his s/o with a ferret. You better be.

Has to hide his pets from Risotto's snake.

He is such a fabulous fella, and so are his pets.

Best coats. He takes them to pet shows and wins lots of prices.

Pesci

Fish. All kinds of fish.

Half of his living room is just tanks.

His dream pet is a shark. Like really, he has a shark plushie.

He would also have a bunny. It's just there.

Melone

Parrots, because the're inteligent.

Teaches his pets to say "fuck" or Newton's Physic Law.

Has seeds in every place possible. You have to vacuum often.

Also the type to try to befriend pigeons or seaguls.

He didn't have a great time. Ended up with shit on his arm.

Reptiles and snakes.

All kinds.

When he died his pets started to roam his apartment freely.

His neighbours were terrified.

Hamsters. His whole room is dedicated to them.

He gave his hamster a heart attack because he farted near his cage.

Bearded dragon owner.

Con il rilascio di “Seven" (feat. Latto), quest'estate, Jung Kook ha dato il via alle promozioni del suo album di debutto solista, GOLDEN, in quello che potremmo descrivere come il suo arco (creativo) d'oro. Col senno di poi, appare chiaro che “Seven” era già un indizio delle idee e valori che stanno dietro la creazione di GOLDEN. La versione esplicita non fa solo uso di un linguaggio forte, ma vede anche riferimenti sessuali legati all'amore che può nascere tra due persone. Nel contesto pop, è ormai storia vecchia, ma per qualche motivo il K-pop sembra aver sempre evitato questo territorio, finché questa canzone non è esplosa nella scena musicale coreana. Ed il fatto che Jung Kook sia sempre stato – e forse dovremmo dire, sempre sarà – il più giovane del gruppo non è l'unico motivo per cui questa traccia è giunta così inaspettata. Molti media coreani sembrano far finta che il verso “I’ll be f**king you right” non esista. E il fatto che la canzone sia completamente in inglese probabilmente aiuta. È lo stesso Jung Kook ad aver affrontato questo enorme tabù con un semplice, “Quanti anni ho?”

“Sono contento si percepisca un senso di maturità”, ha detto Jung Kook nella sua recente intervista con GQ. “Ma non è stata una cosa intenzionale. Più un risultato naturale, direi.” E questo significa sostanzialmente che non si è mai preoccupato intenzionalmente di scrivere altri brani espliciti o scervellato più di tanto riguardo le tematiche da trattare. Le tracce di GOLDEN seguono il percorso emotivo coinvolto in una relazione sentimentale: le prime scintille d'amore in “Closer to You” (feat. Major Lazer) e “Yes or No”, la sicurezza sconfinata di “3D” (feat. Jack Harlow) e “Standing Next to You”, la disperazione più nera in “Hate You” ed il dolore derivato dalla rottura in “Too Sad to Dance” e “Shot Glass of Tears”.

Jung Kook non ha scritto né prodotto alcuna canzone in quest'album, optando piuttosto per rivolgersi ad autori e produttori fidati. Mentre il primo è un caso piuttosto raro, se guardiamo quali sono i trend del momento nell'ambito della produzione musicale in studio, quest'ultimo – il rivolgersi ad autori e produttori esterni – è la norma.

“Standing Next to You” è una traccia eccezionale prodotta da Andrew Watt - autore anche di “Seven” - e Cirkut. Shawn Mendes è tra i co-autori di “Hate You”. Ed Sheeran ha partecipato alla stesura di “Yes or No”, per cui ha suonato anche alcune parti alla chitarra. Jung Kook trae ispirazione dai suoi gusti musicali per selezionare delle belle tracce e poter successivamente dare prova delle sue incredibili abilità canore su questi brani pop. Ma mentre la traccia UK garage“Seven” e “3D”, che è in stile anni 2000, ci hanno mostrato cos'è la musica rètro per questi artisti più giovani, “Standing Next to You” oltrepassa sfrecciando Usher, fino ad arrivare - ben più indietro - a Michael Jackson, prendendo in prestito il suo sound funk/disco. L'album non si limita a giocare sulla linea pop, ma si rifà anche alla musica dance. “Closer to You”, prodotta in collaborazione con Major Lazer, presenta elementi di reggaeton, e “Please Don’t Change” featuring DJ Snake, è una sorta di ode a come il DJ ha saputo portare persino Justin Bieber alla ribalta.

Un album spesso è accompagnato da diverse aspettative: ambizione artistica, composizione organica, auto-rappresentazione. Tuttavia, un album è, innanzi tutto, un portfolio dei lavori dell'artista in relazione ad un dato momento e luogo. Il valore di un album si basa sull'impatto e le impressioni che sa lasciarsi dietro. Nel caso di GOLDEN, abbiamo la rinascita a vera e propria pop star di un membro di una boy band di impareggiabile successo. Dato che la storia tende a ripetersi, possiamo dire di aver già assistito a molti casi in cui il membro più giovane di un gruppo ottiene un enorme successo anche come solista. Robbie Williams, Justin Timberlake e Harry Styles sono tutti esempi di questo fenomeno, dopotutto. E forse non è una casualità. Forse dipende proprio dal fatto che coloro che iniziano la propria carriera musicale nell'adolescenza, hanno il privilegio di lavorare in un gruppo fin dalla più tenera età e diventare star del pop di grandissimo impatto e popolarità, anche grazie alle tante risorse messe a loro disposizione da quest'opportunità.

Però nessuno si sarebbe aspettato di vedere questa 'teoria del più giovane' trasposta anche nel K-pop. Probabilmente è anche merito del successo globale dei BTS se Jung Kook ha potuto collaborare con menti creative internazionali di altissima levatura, cantare esclusivamente in inglese di fronte al mondo intero e, infine, diventare una pop star in grado di dare il meglio di sé in generi musicali di suo gradimento, senza il rischio di incorrere in blocchi creativi.

Interpellato a riguardo, Jung Kook ha così definito il successo: “Non credo il successo debba essere qualcosa che siano altri a determinare. Semplicemente, quando si è soddisfattə di sé, felici, quando si affrontano difficoltà, ci si arrabbia – credo il “successo” sia sempre intrinsecamente legato a tutti quei momenti”. GOLDEN non è solo una storia di successo, dunque, ma anche uno sguardo sulla soddisfazione, la felicità, le difficoltà e la frustrazione che l'hanno accompagnato, nonché quelle a venire. E visto il costante ripetersi della storia, è una scommessa difficile a perdersi.

Boos & Brews Night (Wildlife Safari)

Saturday night Terry and I ventured to the annual Boos and Brews night at Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon. It turned out to be a pricey evening, but we did have fun as we always do when together. The Wildlife Safari staff typically decorate with lights around the village, and put up the appropriate decorations around the viewing pens of those animals inside the village and not on the drive thru. They had created a nice ambiance for the Halloween holiday arriving soon.

As you walk in, there are smaller creatures in a pen set off in the back portion of the village. The animals in this area are especially for children to see, pet, and enjoy. The enclosure next to the petting zoo houses owls, snakes, tamarins, and different species of birds. Tonight everything along the path was lit in an array of rainbow colors, each covering the trunk of a tree or framing a skeleton in a tree or sitting on a bench.

I petted a small donkey, a miniature horse and a goat or two, then we moved on toward the middle section to capture pictures of Halloween decor. Cobwebs, witches hats, candles, and black cats were hung from trees and pressed into the dark recesses of a tree trunk. The lights added an ambiance of the upcoming holiday.

The dance floor under the dome on the opposite of the village was filled with lights, loud music, and people who appear to be having the most fun. As we walked closer, I could tell why they looked happier. There were four tables with different types of beer and wine for sale. A large dance floor was at the ready. Terry and I perused the beer tables. He chose his favorite and asked for one.

We headed out in search of other events happening around the park. Turning on my flashlight app on my phone was a must! The path was dark which added to the eerie feeling. Off in the distance, you could hear the roars and growls of the lions in their fenced area. The sound of the snarling and roaring of the amazingly large kitties made your skin crawl. It was quite frightening to hear them so close, yet you knew they were behind fences. Or at least you hoped.

Terry and I ventured off to the cougar enclosure, where we saw a group of folks watching something inside the pen. One of the employees had a large flashlight and was shining it into the setting. The beautiful cat came into view. It was tough snapping the right shot of the cougar, since it was so dark in this corner of the park, even with the light provided by the staff. Terry and I were making attempts at getting a good shot, but to no avail. Finally Terry yelled, "Walk toward the light," which threw me into a fit of laughter.

Now kitties do what they want to do. This pertains to the larger cat family as well. Staff members said the cougar's name was Rogue. He got the name because of the area in which he was found. Roaming around the Rogue River area, he was brought to the safari to be cared for and protected. Rogue was throwing something up in the air, tossing it, turning it over and over in the grass, then placing it in his paws, rolling on his back and kicking it as he brought his hind feet up to meet his front paws. The staff member moved the flashlight over a bit and it dawned on me the "thing" he was throwing around was a rabbit.

We watched the cat play around with his rabbit for a while, making feeble attempts to snag that one picture or video that would allow us to place it on the blog. Terry finally achieved as good of a video as we could get, using what little light was available and his Samsung Galaxy 22 camera.

All in all, I would say the trip to the Wildlife Safari Boos and Brews went pretty well. The music was great. The DJ was playing popular sounds such as, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," and "Uptown Funk," and we can't forget the classic, "Thriller". The group of folks there at the time were smaller in number to keep it simple, fun, and less crowded. All in all, visitors were being quite friendly and pleasant to each other. Another good adventure, great memory, and my favorite way to spend time, another great time was had with Terry as company.
