- yutamaki: they mean so much to me. i love them both platonically and romantically! their moments in jjk0 are super sweet and i love that they’re always supporting each other 🥹

- satosugu: this is a ship i’ll put in a blender. i don’t usually think of them but when i do i want to throw up blood. they’re the cause of all my problems. i love them. they are so my tears ricochet core

- tachigin: do u ever think about how they’re both liars. how they both have a hidden identity. how they both found family within the mafia not as the person they really are, but as the person they pretended to be. how the betrayal felt like when tachihara dropped his mask. OUGH

Yesterday I watched some totally random horror movie called "Under The Bed", that my prime told me I'd probably like. Fair enough, it's horror, and there's brothers in it - That tracks.

But then it started. And it's just... Okay, so there's cool-guy big brother Neal, with his tousled blonde hair and his half-denim, half-leather jacket who got send away to avoid prison, ‘cause he set their house on fire, right? So he's coming back from his "exile", running right into a welcome-back party that his dad (who he has a strained relationship with...) and his new step-mom throw for him. Because, you know. Their actual mom died in the before mentioned house fire. Uh-Huh.

He then ditches the party (and the girl he "came back to" apparently) to run around the house, frantically searching for his brown-haired baby-brother Paul (which he alone calls Paulie. Unless he’s angry at him, then it becomes a very stern “Paul!”. Because of course.) screaming his name like a maniac for... Reasons? How would I know? Neal just needs to find him asap??

And when he does, they hug it out for a minute or two. Very important stuff? I get it, you're close. Thanks for taking like... Ten minutes of screen time to establish that. It’s only the first. Of many, many, many hugs to come.

They then BOTH ditch the party to hang around in a diner. And we have wonderful dialog like: "I really missed this." - "What did you miss more, the diner or me?" Yes. Normal brother things - Like come on LOOK AT THEM y'all are doing this to me on purpose at this point?

But then. THEN. Neal just whips out a fucking leather-bound diary with monster-scribbles in it and at this point I'm fucking certain that I'm just tripping on my pneumonia meds.

But IT JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE?!? Sammy Paulie has weird premonition-like nightmares that come with an extra cool hell-filter

While Dean Neal is just out there being very normal, scribbling pictures of the two of them in his diary while his baby-brother is at school without him

Thorough the movie both of them just keep constantly reminding us about the fact that they're brothers (by saying it like, 20 times as if we could've missed it) and would never hurt each other and do everything for each other. They share beds and we get the actual Baby-camera-pan I’m just- while their dad is just out there like????? Y'all are weirdos maybe stop sleeping together (because this movie is actually about a monster under their bed and not them being weirdos lmao)...

...until Paulie gets hurt by the monster and John Dad forcefully separates them because he assumes it’s Neal’s fault. Obviously they can’t have that and sneak out and break locks to hug it out. I mean, they’ve been separated by a door for like, maybe half an hour in realtime. Can’t have that.

Dad is really not amused to find them like this. Again.

AND THEN THEY GEAR UP TO HUNT THE MONSTER UNDER THEIR BED (where Neal shows little Paulie how to properly hold a gun a screwdriver just because... hands??) 'cause what if they end up getting permanently separated because of it?! THE HORROR.

In the end Neal is absolutely ready to sacrifice himself to get his brother back from the nightmare-realm where they do some reunion-forehead-touching, Dad dies on his first hunt in the final confrontation and they beat the monster by throwing their mothers ashes at it (which was totally Paulies idea because you know - He‘s the smart one)...

TLDR this is not just a random Horror Movie, it's a canon divergent Winchester/Teenchesters Fanfic unfurling right in front of my salad and I AM OBSESSED and I need someone to watch this movie to confirm that I am, in fact, not losing my entire mind.

How did you become a fan of the Inuyasha fandom?

When I was about 8 years old, my older cousin and I were just starting to get into anime. She became obsessed with Inuyasha and since we spent a lot of time together I eventually became obsessed too. I remember recording the episodes on VHS tapes and watching them over and over again. I knew all the songs and today they are still on my spotify playlist.

What are your favourite fanfic tropes as a writer?

Romance, drama, angst, redemption, crack, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, hurt/comfort, fluff, smut, virginity, drunk people, consent.

And as a reader?

DRAMA! SMUT! ROMANCE! ANGST! CRACK! I like almost everything, except fics that have controversial topics, illegal or immoral things.

Which work of yours is your personal favourite? The one you are most proud of?

Kagome's Will. It is my first story, and I have invested a lot of time and effort in it. Also with this story I was nominated in the feudal connection awards which made me very happy.

Which SessKag fanfiction of another author is your go-to choice for a great read?

I'm in love with Raindrops by YoukaiYume.

What do you think makes a good story?

Good pace. Good representation of the characters. Details that transport you to specific places. That you are able to feel what the characters feel.

Is there anything you need while writing? Snacks? Music? A comfy blanket?

Music related to the feelings I'm trying to represent. In the afternoon tea, in the morning coffee. Ambient lights. Good humour. If I was able to control the weather, I would put rain on demand too. Incense.

How do you get your ideas? In your dreams? Under the shower?

Things that happened to me or people I know. Songs (Music serves me a lot as inspiration). Things of daily life. Sometimes movies or k-dramas.

If you could meet an Inuyasha character - what would you tell them?

I would like to meet Kagome and tell her some things:  Please stop wearing only that damn uniform (there aren't seasons in feudal era? You don't feel cold? You don't have calluses on your feet with those shoes?). Abandon the feudal era and bring Sesshomaru with you ASAP. 

As a writer, what would your spirit animal be?

A fox. Because they adapt to change, and have a great fur.

What is your kryptonite as a writer?

Realizing that the plot of my story makes no sense or is losing its meaning.

What advice would you give someone who wants to start writing?

Don't hesitate, just do it!! Because if you don't, all those amazing stories won't see the light of day, and you won't find a story that fulfills everything you want to portray, so it's up to you to do it. While you write you will learn and improve as you go along.

hi! its my nerdy ass again!

ive been obsessing about your baby ducks au and seeing it everywhere. im rewatching my neighbor totoro right now and i can totally see house raising the kids on ghibli movies! hed have that box with all the movies in dvd.

thirteens favourite would be princess mononoke,for obvious reasons,two adass girlies,but i like to think chase would lie and say his is spirited away because it has a monster and a cool dragon when his favourite is actually howls moving castle cause my boy chase is a hopeless romantic lol

Eeeeeeee I love this SO much!!! I seriously can't put into words how huge this is making me smile. Of course Chase's favorite is actually Howl's Moving Castle, and House and Wilson and Thirteen totally all know it, but they let him pretend it's Spirited Away so he doesn't feel made fun of (plus Spirited Away rocks, it's always a great one to watch on a movie night). (Something something once they're teenagers, they finally tease Chase a bit with it, and it's about being as nit picky with his hair as Howl is😂)

And Thirteen's fave being Princess Mononoke, omg YES!!!! I need to put that one on sometime soon, Ghibli movies are really nice to have in the background because the art and the music is always so beautiful! (I'm sure after I watch it, I will have a lot more to say in particular about bby Thirteen loving it! I've never actually seen the whole thing from start to finish- I wasn't raised on Ghibli movies, so I only first heard of them when I was in high school. lots of them I've only seen parts when they're on while hanging out, or the handful that my gf and I have watched together the whole way through. But now I have good reason to watch it ASAP :D)

House totally has the box set with all the DVDs, and around the time Chase (age five) first gets placed with them, Thirteen's (age three) favorite toy is a Totoro plushie basically as big as her. She likes to make him outfits for whatever they're playing, and she loops Chase in on "stealing" clothes from the clean laundry for them pretty quickly. Then after he's dressed Thirteen pulls Chase into imaginary play with her and Totoro. Sibling bonding :) (Of course the outfits never match but look charming nonetheless. I'm imagining one of Wilson's button down work shirts buttoned crookedly, a tie tied completely wrong, and one of House's baseball caps)

Tell me friend, what was your favorite part of the new little mermaid movie? (Was it when she found a way to tell him her name because that was my favorite part) 👀

sadly, I didn't see it yet, tecnically. Bc of my job I don't have time to go out atm, so I had to pirate it, but it was clearly incomplete, missing a lot of parts and in terrible quality, so I can't really say what's my favorite part yet, until I watch it for real next week.

But I can tell you what I loved from what I saw:

Halle was PERRRFECT for Ariel, as far as I can tell, I don't think watching the whole movie will change my opinion on that, she captured her amazingly, her innocence, curiosity, bravery, determination, everything. And I believe I like this Ariel more too, since she seems to have more motivation besides love to want to stay above (not saying OG Ariel didn't have other motivations, I mean that it's clearer here), I can't understand people that say other characters stole the spot, when she owned the whole movie, (I really doubt I 'll change my mind about this when I watch it ful with the missing parts)

ERIC!! Omg if I was in love with his animated version, I am OBSESSED with this Eric. Like with Ariel, they made a better job at expanding the character and giving him depth. But like, way more noticeable than with Ariel, since OG Eric wasn't really explored besides being a good person and a perfect prince (again, I still love the OG, but this version is superior, I normally let nostalgia get in the way of a fair judgement, but I can't deny it this time, the live action won)

their relationship and love story was so sweet and soft, more that the OG, and it honestly surprised me. OG Eriel were so cute and amazing together, and I always loved them and always will, but Live Action Eriel made me feel these two were truly soulmates. After Kiss the Girl, I was so fucking obsessed and couldn't wait for them to be together, they made a great show in showing they fell in love for real, honest true love.

I believe anyone that says the girl who played Vanessa should have been Ariel undermine the work she put into that character, she was the perfect Vanessa, I couldn't imagine her in any other role in the movie, fr, wasn't expecting much of her since I didn't know her and never particularly cared about her character, since it was a facade of Ursula.

I NEED A SEQUEL ASAP, I NEED TO SEE BABY MELODY PLEASE

I hadn't have time to open wattpad or AO3 in so long, but when I do I know I will consume any and all 2023 Eriel fic available.

Zawe Ashton On Playing a Regency Bridget Jones in ‘Mr. Malcolm’s List’

Five years ago, Zawe Ashton was considering leaving acting. Then she landed the female lead in “Velvet Buzzsaw.” Her Broadway debut in “Betrayal” followed, as did a part on “The Handmaid’s Tale” and a top-secret role in the “Captain Marvel” sequel “The Marvels.” She can next be seen in Regency-era rom-com “Mr. Malcolm’s List,” based on the novel by Suzanne Allain and directed by Emma Holly Jones. Ashton plays Julia Thistlewaite, who is rejected by Sopé Dìrísù’s eligible bachelor Jeremy Malcolm for not meeting the requirements on his list for an ideal bride. Julia calls upon her old school friend Selina Dalton (Frieda Pinto) to deliver justice in the July 1 Bleecker Street release.

How did “Mr. Malcolm’s List” find its way to you?

I was just quietly going about my business at the beginning of last year and my friend texted me going, “Please watch this new show, ‘Bridgerton.’” I was like, “Well if I’m going to be binging anything, I want to do some cinephile digging. I want to be that person who watches the Bergman or the Cassavetes or the Agnes Varda box set!” But she begged me to watch it, and I’m so glad I did. Like everyone else, I fell head over heels in love with it and was so refreshed by the approach of it and the Shondaland of it all. I sent my agent and my manager an email saying, “Get me in a corset, ASAP.” And my manager wrote back and said, “That’s so weird because there’s actually something kind of cooking at the moment; look out for your inbox.” And lo and behold, someone pulled out of this movie. Which is usually the way I get a gig. I have absolutely no ego about this.

What were your immediate impressions of the script?

It was undeniable. And there was this era I’ve always wanted to be a part of and never understood why I couldn’t. There was also a first-time female director, which is something I’ve been committing myself to these past few years in actively trying to help amplify those voices and the films that are meaningful to me. And I loved my character, Julia. She’s like a Regency Bridget Jones when we meet her – not quite sure if the pressure is going to let off in terms of finding that match. There was something so contemporary and relatable about her as a woman.

Well, according to Mr. Malcolm, she does flutter her eyelashes too much. But other than that, she’s pretty cool.

That was actually a really hard scene to do, because we wanted to be really naturalistic with makeup all the way through and false eyelashes didn’t exist then. So if you want some eyelash acting from me, you’re going to get it.

You probably picked up a lot of new skills.

I feel like I could offer my services now, to any drama school students perhaps who need a few pointers in Regency acting. There will be things you didn’t expect to come up that will come up: eyelash acting, boob acting, acting with horses. Thankfully, there really were some fantastic learning curves. And I feel so lucky to have just done a project where I’ve learned a completely new skill set.

I’ve heard everything you’ve said but my mind is still stuck on one thing, which is that you need to go on “Bridgerton.” Can I start a hashtag?

Let’s start the campaign now, shall we? Let’s get the domain JenelleSaysZaweForBridgerton registered. I would love to, not only because I’m absolutely obsessed but obviously there’s a huge conversation we’re having about the way we are refreshing this genre for the screen. It feels so funny that friends of mine, contemporaries, have suffered from what they call “bonnet fatigue” because they’ve been in so many period dramas. But I’m the opposite. I would love to do just period dramas or comedies and get to that fatigue place, because I just love it.

I think the hashtag is #MoreBonnetsForZawe.

I mean, the experience of putting one on for the first time was so emotional, if you can believe that. Because again, one doesn’t realize that they haven’t been doing something until they do it. I remember the first time I went for a fitting and they put a bonnet on me and I was like, “Wow, this is cool. I’m now in the films that I’ve watched for all of these years.”

This entire cast is so phenomenal and you all work so well together.

I did a series with Freida Pinto called “Guerilla” and she remembered me and sort of suggested me. I’m so glad we got to do this because to have two women of color at the center and be able to work on that gorgeous friendship was so satisfying. Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù is one of the most electric screen presences that I’ve experienced for a very, very long time. Oliver Jackson-Cohen, who plays my cousin, was such a delight. A friend texted me and said, “You two will literally become best friends by the end of the movie” and we literally got on like family as soon as we met. Theo James and I have been in a similar orbit for years and working with him was such a joy. He’s such a funny man and that really helped having that laughter offstage as well because I’m doing the romantic scenes which were really hard for me.

Really?

I mean, they say the things that you struggle with in life, are the things that you struggle with as an actor. And I’ve never been a very successfully flirty person ever. I’m that girl who either you’re thinking, “She doesn’t like me.” Or you’re thinking, “Oh, what a sweet, awkward human being. At some point was she batting her eyelashes at me?” And so to step into a romantic space, and sort of have that storyline was, was quite challenging, and I loved doing it. But it was, again, a new skill that I had to hone.

You have done a lot of serious dramas lately; what was it like to lighten up?

So amazing. I showed my dad a clip from some of the film and he said, “You’re doing a film where you’re smiling!”

You shot this before joining the MCU with the “Captain Marvel” sequel “The Marvels.” I’m guessing you can’t say anything about that film right now?

I can’t, I just can’t say even one thing. Other than I had the best time. And Nia DeCosta is one of the guiding lights of directors that we have. She is so precious and special and the doors that she’s going to open – that she already has – are extremely, extremely exciting.

You actually dressed as Captain Marvel for Halloween back in 2019 – did Nia happen to see that?

(Laughs) If she did, she didn’t say anything. You know, I had met her about a very low budget period piece right when the pandemic had hit and we just got on like a house of fire. “Candyman” hadn’t come out yet but we were familiar enough with each other – I’d seen her brilliant debut feature “Little Woods” and had been really impressed and thought, “I’d like to work with that woman one day.” So it was just a meeting of the minds, the seeing of souls and she decided to take me on one of the biggest journeys that she could possibly be undertaking.

Do you ever think about how five years ago you thought you were leaving the business?

Very much so. And I still keep trying to do it, which is silly. It’s like one of those hysterical tantrums you throw as a child: “I’m leaving!” And everyone’s like, “Oh.” But every time I did try to quit I’ve been brought back closer to my real purpose that I felt I was slightly lacking. I was pulled towards Dan Gilroy with “Velvet Buzzsaw” and I was pulled towards doing “Betrayal,” which is a play that has transformed my life, and I was pulled towards doing “The Handmaid’s Tale,” a show that I have hoped would exist since I was 18.

Anyway just wanted to gush with you about Monkey Man and just life things! (Spoilers for Monkey Man below @ everyone who wants to watch it!)

Monkey Man was everything Tamil movies are afraid to do. (I'm talking abt Tamil movies specially cos I'm Tamil and only watch those and Bollywood/Hindi films). The backstory packed a punch but the fridging of his mom was a bit disappointing to me cos IT'S SUCH a typical Tamil movie trope and one I hate. But I guess it wasn't his wife so kinda a step up 🤷🏽

Other than that I am OBSESSED with the last fight scene esp with a particular group of people and their costuming iykyk!

As a former film major, I LOVED that this movie had opened up a lane for the Indian community in Hollywood and hopefully one day I'll get to write a romcom for Dev Patel and Simone Ashley - that's the dream tbh!

yes! i loved that final fight sequence so much, it was so powerful and such a beautiful underdog finally getting to fight back moment ugh it was amazing. i had no idea that the mom going through all that was so common so that’s interesting, and yes i need them in a rom com asap. and he deserves to be in a light movie after all of that work he put into this one with breaking so many bones lol, let that man chill

nwh gave me So Many Ideas

mcu peter has no friends or family. he's all alone. as much as i want them to fix this (ASAP, one spider boy can only take so much) imagine the POSSIBILITIES

they could introduce harry osborn like they have in the past spiderman franchises. i never talk about it but harry osborn was such a great addition to peter parker's character. the hot, brooding, sarcastic best friend who masks his intelligence, and has major daddy issues. i know ned is sort of the harry replacement in the mcu but i'm greedy so why can't we have both. i imagine they'd meet through either college courses or an internship and become quick friends. peter is in desperate need of a new support system and it could come in the form of a character that is already familiar to previous spiderman fans.

(i know that it's so unlikely that this would happen after green goblin was already introduced in the mcu as a multiversal villain but if every multiverse has a peter, every multiverse has a harry... right? it would be interesting to watch peter struggle to trust harry because his father in an alternate universe was responsible for may's death—and i stand by that whether harry ends up as a villain or an ally)

on the topic of past spiderman movies, it would also be an incredible addition to bring in some gwen stacy action too. obviously not romantically, i love petermj too much for that, but she could join a bonus friend group made up of her, harry, and peter to make up for the one he lost by the spell. also she would balance out harry's bad attitude. i imagine their dynamic would be that of james franco harry osborn, emma stone gwen stacy, and tom holland peter parker. like that would just be so *chefs kiss*

also, one of my favorite possibilities, is that they could bring back HARLEY KEENER. (oh boy am i passionate about this one) the mcu is so incredible and they hardly ever do things without a reason and they brought ty simpkins back for tony's funeral. they brought him back once, WHY NOT BRING HIM BACK AGAIN? imagine him and harley meet (or possibly room together) at a community college in new york and become instant friends. peter is so grateful because he's finally able to find someone that he can be himself with, after losing everyone else he loved and trusted. and little does he know, it's tony's other genius kid

ALSO ALSO ALSO i am in love with the idea of young avengers, correct? there will be a LOng ass post about that to come but in an ideal world, peter and kate bishop would both be part of it. imagine before all of that happens, kate and peter meet somehow (a chance encounter in a coffee shop, a shared college class, running into each other when a villain attacks new york, kate seeking peter out for a new ally—quite literally endless possibilities) and become friends. i can just picture the quips and insults they would send back and forth. just imagine peter being like that one scene in civil war where he won't shut up while fighting sam and bucky, and then kate being like that scene in hawkeye where clint is completely deaf and she keeps trying to talk to him. their combined dumbass energy is incredible and i need it to happen.

oh yes, absolutely. it's ridiculous, the second I get home, whatever clothes I've been wearing up to this point with no problem whatsoever suddenly become unbearable and I can't think about anything else until I change into my home clothes. same goes for jewelry items that I don't wear 24/7 - I need to get them off me asap. idk, it's definitely psychological. it's like I can't access my at home mode until I've changed into something comfy. (I don't even have to be in my house for that, the same goes for when I stay over at a friend's).

Old Gregg is a character from The Mighty Boosh, the show which I was obsessed with for years back in school. I had a close friend who was equally obsessed, and we would quote the show at each other at random times confusing the hell out of everyone else (it was not widely known in my country). "I'm Old Gregg" is one of the more memorable lines in the whole show I would say, so it was fun to say out of the blue. I think it's worth mentioning that I don't identify with the character in any way and my choice of username has nothing to do with Gregg being trans (or whatever the hell). I think it's just about a fun and easy time in my life, about obsession with fandom, and about the fact that I'm permanent in my affections and interests - once I love something, it stays with me for good in some shape or form.

this one's a bit harder to answer. the question makes you immediately think in the direction of media that made you way too emotional and as such would be hard to stomach again. The Green Mile (the film) is one of the better-known examples, or for me personally, I wouldn't re-watch Soldier's Girl with Lee Pace (about a trans woman, based on a true story, good one but it will wreck you). I'm sure I could name lots more but the thing is, I don't love them, I just think they're good. the real answer is, I'm unlikely to re-read any books unless I have to, and I will never re-watch most films unless they are my favourite or comfort films. that's simply because I believe that for every piece of media there is a perfect time/age/mood, and the older I get, the harder it is for me to catch these perfectly fitting moods, whereas there is still an abundance of stuff out there that I haven't seen or read. tl;dr: life's too short and nowadays I prefer to see/read new things instead of revisiting already familiar ones.

Currently watching: Crash Landing On You! I stopped watching because I sensed a love triangle and I am nothing but stubborn about avoiding them. But that dramatic scene everybody’s seen now tempted me back I need to feel those feelings xD and I admit it’s not what I thought. I’m on episode 8 and feeling very much all the emotions! I just finished It’s A Sin too (look at me go! Let me brag because I’m terrible at watching shows lmao) and it was soooo good. Actually one of my favourite things I’ve ever watched. It’s the first time I’ve ever finished something in one day so if it’s up anybody’s alley and they’ve been putting it off like me change that asap! :D

Currently reading: Asking For A Friend by Andi Osho! It’s nothing revolutionary but I’m enjoying it well enough. Still in a massive reading slump though ;-;

Current obsession: I got back into Animal Crossing again! I really carve out the time to just spend running around my island paying off my debts and chatting to Portia (who is the best <3)

4 fucking AM

It's 4 fucking AM. I was ready to go to bed, sleep, 3 hours ago. But my daughter came home anxious b/c she had a panic attack in front of her gf, who calmed her but thought she didn't or something, and there was a lack of communication, so my daughter is overthinking everything. We did get an email written for school; I found out my VA benefits letter was available, but, contrary to what I saw on the website previously, the dependent does have to and can apply for the benefits after all, so that was a month wasted. Eventually she was finally ready to go to her own room...where I stood next to her bed waiting for 45 minutes for her to settle down. She didn't have her charger, so she couldn't turn on her ipad to have her show running. Oh, it's 3:30? I was waiting till 4. Well I need 8 hours of sleep. IF I'm up till 4 then I'm sleeping past noon, and I don't want to do that. Well, now it's past 4 and my melatonin has worn off, and I'm waking up.

I'm really sorry you have massive anxiety. I really am. And I know it's worse for you than for me. But being tired makes me anxious, too, and cranky, and I have homework due tomorrow, and it's Father's Day, so I have to extra spend time with Dad, and make him a cake, and be there for the other kid, and not get so terribly off my sleep schedule b/c I do have to go back to work on Tuesday, and pay bills, and figure out how to pay the bills, and and and my to-do list is like 2 dozen things long. and I want to cry, and I'm my own kind of hormonal, and my brain isn't working ... too much cerebral stuff, not enough physical stuff, but I get so involved with the cerebral stuff that I procrastinate exercise till it's too late, and I want to go see movies in the theater, but I only have my allowance, which I've been spending on lunch b/c fucking motorcycle stuff (more specifically an obsessive impulsive dh who has to buy all the things ASAP). And I can't find the bill/statement that came the other day for the bike. And my elbows hurt, so when I wake up in the morning, having planned to ride my bicycle, I don't want to anymore, but I do.

And everybody waits for me to be available to do things with them, but I will always find ways to fill my time. If a thing isn't scheduled, it won't happen. And maybe I can finally go to sleep, and sleep for only 6 hours? At least I finally watched that next episode of Doctor Who. I need to turn off reddit notifications and uninstall FB. Instagram takes more than enough time; I should unfollow Jamie Lee Curtis - she just posts so much, like 10 times a day, it's half my feed. OK, before I get actually hungry again. ZZZZzzzzzzz
