Star Wars Time Travel AU - Flavor: Anakin and Obi-Wan, from ROTJ to TPM
I asked, you guys answered. Here it is: Obi-Wan and Anakin get sent back to TPM after ROTJ, and proceed to confuse everyone. In everyone’s defense, Anakin and Obi-Wan have a lot of confusing trauma.
The thing about being dead is that it’s not quite as restful as everyone made it out to be.
Oh, Obi-Wan is sure that if he’d done the irresponsible thing and ignored Qui-Gon and passed properly into the netherworlds of the Force instead of following his bloody Path of the Whills, he would be perfectly happy floating along as part of the larger universe. And alright, he doesn’t regret doing it because Luke desperately needed the help, what with Yoda’s isolation having made him only more reticent, but it’s still annoying. Because even though he watched Anakin toss Sidious down a reactor shaft and die peacefully in his sons arms before moving on, the next phase of existence looks a whole lot like the Healer’s Ward at the Jedi temple forty years ago, and he’s being stared at by one very alive-looking Mace Windu.
“Hello there,” Obi-Wan says, because being dead is no excuse for being impolite. “Whose idea was it to decorate like this? I find it rather gauche.”
One also very alive looking Vokara Che sends him a warning look. “Large windows and pale colors are beneficial to the health of patients.”
“Oh, I think we’re rather past the need for worrying about our health,” Obi-Wan jokes.
Vokara just gives him a confused and suspicious look. “Are you alright, Obi-Wan?”
Obi-Wan feels hysterical laughter bubble up inside him. He’s dead. He watched the Jedi fall, felt their deaths like they were his own and heard the Force crying out at the pain and wrongness of it all; he disfigured— attempted to kill— one of the few people he had ever loved, fully and unconditionally, and felt the attempt rend him further apart in the process, and then he watched as that person twisted themself into a horrible facsimile of what they once were; he hid for twenty years on a desert planet while slowly detaching himself from his physical body so he could train and advise a child on whom he pinned nearly all his hopes; he was killed by Vader, and then watched Luke save him— save the man Obi-Wan couldn’t— and saw Vader kill Sidious, and then die. And now— now— he has finally passed on, expecting rest and peace, only to wake up in the healer’s ward of a temple that was destroyed.
Obi-Wan laughs, sharp and harsh and slightly deranged. “No,” he says, “I am not.”
“Yeah,” says a voice from next to him, “I get that.”
Obi-Wan turns to see Anakin— wait, no. Obi-Wan turns to see an unharmed Anakin— well, not quite. Obi-Wan turns to see Anakin, alive, unharmed, whole... and all of nine years old.
“Anakin?” Obi-Wan asks, surprised. He’d assumed that this odd make-believe healer’s ward was a result of the Path of the Whills— a journey that Anakin had decidedly not undertaken.
“Yep,” Anakin says crossing his arms. “So, this is what being dead is like? I’d assumed it would be less, uh,” he searches for the word, “medical.”
“It could be a construct,” Obi-Wan suggests, “while our consciousnesses slowly dissipate— a waystation of sorts. Of course,” he frowns, “that doesn’t explain why you’re here.”
“Excuse me,” Mace Windu says, very on-edge, “but what exactly are you two talking about?”
“Ugh,” Anakin complains, lying back, “why is he here?”
“Yes,” Obi-Wan says, acerbic, “I wonder why he could be here, what with that fall you gave him.”
Anakin flushes, embarrassed. “Fair point.”
“So,” Obi-Wan turns to Mace Windu, “where are we exactly?”
Windu raises an extremely suspect eyebrow. “You’re in the Healer’s Ward at the Jedi temple on Coruscant.”
“Well, yes,” Obi-Wan says, a touch exasperated, “but where are we?”
Windu frowns at him.
“Obi-Wan,” Anakin says, “I don’t think he knows what you mean.”
Windu casts an evaluating glance at Anakin. “No, I don’t.”
Obi-Wan gives him a curious look before turning back to Anakin. “Perhaps he’s part of the construct.” He pauses. “Speaking of, why have you chosen to look like that?”
“Like what?” Anakin blinks confused.
“Like—” Obi-Wan huffs. “Does anyone have a mirror?”
“There’s one in the fresher,” Vokara Che says.
Anakin hops out of bed, and after a moment, Obi-Wan follows him to the fresher.
“Oh sweet stars and suns,” Anakin breathes, looking at his ten year old face. “I really used to look like this?”
Obi-Wan looks in the mirror as well, shocked to find that he looks as he did when he was twenty, padawan braid and all. “You know, I’m actually very glad that I’m never going to have to try to unpack the psychological implications of this,” he remarks.
Anakin snorts. “Yeah, why’d you choose to look like that?”
“I... didn’t,” Obi-Wan realizes. Before, he’d been able to change his appearance to living beings. He hadn’t for Luke, partially because Luke probably wouldn’t have taken very well to a thirty year old Obi-Wan, and partially because there wasn’t a point, given that Force ghosts didn’t get creaky knees.
“Weird,” Anakin says.
They head out of the fresher to see that Vokara Che and Mace Windu are looking at them as if they’ve grown second heads.
“So let me unpack this,” Windu says, “you both think you’re dead.”
Anakin and Obi-Wan look at each other.
“We have reason to believe so, yes,” Obi-Wan replies, amused. “Are you going to try to convince us that we’re not?”
Windu raises one very unimpressed eyebrow. “I would think that even a padawan would be able to look into the Force to see that they’re not dead.”
Obi-Wan looks at Anakin, who shrugs. It seems that neither of them have allowed themselves to be very connected to the Force. It must be a force of habit— Obi-Wan had been careful on Tatooine to never let too much of the outside filter in, for fear of Vader finding him, and for fear that the dark currents in the Force would sweep him away. Perhaps Vader had done a similar thing.
“Shall we?” Obi-Wan suggests to Anakin. At this point, it’s likely that this is the construct telling them both that they need to connect to the Force to finally relinquish their consciousnesses.
Anakin shrugs. “Can’t make things worse, right?”
Obi-Wan snorts. “On three?”
Anakin nods.
“One, two, three.”
Obi-Wan drops his outer shielding, letting the Force filter through.
What he feels isn’t the ethereal, ineffable currents of the Force, calling him to drift among them as they had during his time as a Force ghost. What he feels is thousands of bright lights, sparks where there should be void, and a darkness that has surrounded everything but not yet consumed it.
“Oh,” Obi-Wan breathes. “Anakin, I’m not sure we’re dead.”
Anakin doesn’t say anything back, and Obi-Wan turns to see him crying.
“They’re alive,” Anakin whispers, tears rolling down his cheeks, face frozen in wonder and horror and guilt. “They’re all alive.”
Obi-Wan can feel them— every single one— and a lump rises in his throat. “It’s—” he starts, but he can’t finish the sentence. “We—”
Anakin nods, face still frozen. “How?”
“I—” Obi-Wan shakes his head, “I don’t know.”
“We were— you were—”
“I know.”
“And now they’re—” Anakin takes a deep breath, small body shuddering, and Obi-Wan instinctively gathers him up in his arms, holding him close.
“It’s impossible,” Obi-Wan says. “You were dead. I was dead. I felt it.”
“Luke,” Anakin chokes, “We—”
“We’re alive,” Obi-Wan says hoarsely. “The Jedi are alive— none of it has to happen.”
“Mustafar,” Anakin adds, hoarse. “Padmé.”
“The Death Star. Alderaan.” Obi-Wan says in a dark undertone. Then, louder, “I will be very cross if I get chopped in half again.”
Anakin frowns at him, momentarily distracted. “The blow didn’t hit. I should know. You have nothing to complain about.”
“I have nothing to complain about?” Obi-Wan replies, indignant. “I was on Tatooine for twenty years!”
“You cut off my arms and legs!” Anakin shouts.
Obi-Wan huffs. “Only three!”
“I was stuck in a stupid life-support suit for twenty! Fucking! Years!” Anakin retorts. “Do you know how much that sucked? I couldn’t eat real food! I fucking suffocated just because I took off my helmet to see my son in my last breaths!”
“You killed me!” Obi-Wan shouts indignantly.
There’s a cough from beside him, and a silence as Vokara Che, Mace Windu, and several very nosy padawans stare at him.
Obi-Wan looks at them, slightly embarrassed by his outburst. “I got better.”
Anakin looks at Obi-Wan, the rage in his eyes not Vader’s, but Anakin’s, and then slowly, slowly, it dissipates.
Anakin snorts. “Fuck, we made a mess of things.”
A small, sad, smile creeps on to Obi-Wan's face. “We really did.” He sighs. “I suppose we’ll have to fix everything.”
Anakin shrugs. “Well, Sith Lords are our specialty.” He sighs. “And then I’m retiring on Naboo and learning to fish.”

Vader Tries to Help
People encouraged me to share the dead dove concept! Yay! It’s a horrible concept with an undertone of comedic absurdity in the sense that you keep waiting to see what awful, incredibly stupid thing Vader is going to do next. Like it’s horrifying but it’s also very dumb.
By moving forward into the fic, you acknowledge that this is intended to be dark and liable to be upsetting, and that you are taking responsibility for your own engagement with the material.
This AU was helped along on discord by several parties but tbh I’m not sure how many of them actually want to be named.
Warnings: Mutual Extremely Dubious Consent (forced by a third party), drugging, irrational behavior (Vader), nonconsensual body modification, forced pregnancy, imprisonment, threatened torture of a child (not followed through on)
----------
Vader captures Obi-Wan a few years into the Empire. Because Vader is Anakin, but even worse on the emotional bullshit, he decides that he needs to keep Obi-Wan safe but harmless. Vader also got Luke in the whole 'capturing Kenobi' situation, so part of what Vader's thinking about all this is that Obi-Wan tried to protect The Baby and so Vader kind of owes him, obviously.
Palpatine lets him keep Obi-Wan "safe," because threatening Obi-Wan is a convenient way to make Vader shut up and do what he's told. Palpatine can kind of tell that threatening the toddler would make Vader lose his shit and attempt to kill good ol' Palps, so threatening the middle-aged depressed alcoholic being kept in Vader's guest room with Force-nullifying cuffs is pretty good. It's an additional layer of emotional torture on top of the electrocution of Vader himself!
Vader has Obi-Wan taking care of Luke, mostly, because Vader has Obligations and A Job, and Obi-Wan wouldn't hurt Luke, duh. He might try to escape with the kid, but he won't be successful, and Obi-Wan will definitely put Luke's safety first, so that probably won't happen.
This is all fairly normal for a variety of AUs, granted, and not very dark.
But see, Obi-Wan behaves. He's aware of how tenuous the situation is for him and his charge, so he plays nice. And Vader decides to reward that.
By giving him Cody.
There's an implied thought process there that Obi-Wan was fond of Cody, and Cody was fond back, and now that the Jedi aren't around, they can follow through instead of worrying about some silly Code. Vader's nullified the orders to kill all the Jedi, of course, possibly dosed their food with an aphrodisiac so they don't try to talk themselves out of What They Obviously Want.
Now, we’re going to make it a little darker, because why not make things worse by having Vader try to make things better?
Vader somehow twisted himself around to encouraging them to have a baby. This is accomplished through a combination of Sith Magic and nonconsensual surgery, and lots of questionable drugs.
Obi-Wan just wakes up in a hospital bed with a womb one morning, and is informed of the surgery then and there, after it’s already happened. The droid telling him about it is just like "in the Lord Vader's infinite kindness--" and Obi-Wan just.
Anakin.
What the fuck.
What in the actual fuck made you think this was a good idea.
(The Sith Chemicals, probably.)
I feel like Palpatine would maybe even order the pregnancy induction just to torture them by proxy because that's like eight levels of Fuck No and he barely has to do anything except tell Vader that he'd like to see what kind of children a Jedi Master like Obi-Wan has.
Luke needs friends, doesn't he?
Obi-Wan is having some very complicated emotions about all of this because Vader is, in his own absolutely insane way, trying to help.
Anakin wanted babies and Padme wanted babies so clearly, if Obi-Wan and Cody are in love, then they also want babies!
Cody and Obi-Wan very well might not be in love. Anakin definitely could have misinterpreted. It’s probably more angsty if they're just friends who ended up in this bullshit together.
(He's taking baby fever to new and somewhat horrifying heights, because... he would adore Obi's kids.)
(His family button is suprisingly large for a mass murderer.)
Vader Kindly Informs Bail That Obi-Wan Is Alive And Unharmed. Bail was a friend of Obi-Wan's, telling him this is only helpful and will keep Alderaan from getting more rebellious out of personal insult. Obviously.
Vader is almost offended when Bail implies he might hurt Obi-Wan. He kept his son safe, he owes him. Speaking of, don’t you have a child? How old is she, again? It would be Good for her to make friends, wouldn’t it? :)
Palpatine is just like... sitting back and eating evil popcorn as Vader runs around, ruining people's lives by trying to be less of The Worst than before.
Palps barely has to do anything, Anakin's fucking it up on his own!
Could have been just a sly "Kenobi is so attached to young Luke, but now that you've been reunited with your son, perhaps he'd be happier with a child of his own?" Come at it from both "make Obi-Wan happy" and "protect your relationship with Luke" angles.
Vader: I can't have babies anymore due to what you did to me on Mustafar. Obi-Wan: So you're punishing me by forcing me to have them instead? Vader: No! Children are a gift that you have been cruelly denied by the Order that held us in its chains! Obi-Wan: ...oh, right, you're insane. Forgot about that. Somehow.
Big dramatic speech about how the Jedi Order spent so long making them take lives, he’s giving Obi-Wan a chance to create it! To put something good and bright into the world!
Poor Cody is like. "General, I am very fond of you but I'm having a million panic attacks at the same time because of the mind control, and also Vader is under the impression that we're in love and I need to be your stud? I wasn't aware you could have children--" "I can't. Or at least, I couldn't, but Anakin is... creative." "...what."
I don't want to actually objectify Cody in the narrative past the point that Obi-Wan himself is, because nnnnngh racism and clone stuff, so I'm going to say Cody was in love with Obi-Wan, and would have been okay with at least discussing the whole baby schtick if not for the absolutely horrible circumstances.
Like if the war had ended normally, and Obi-Wan had expressed a desire to retire, unlikely as that was, then Cody may have suggested a dinner, and they could have gotten married and then eventually adoption...
(Cody had a lot of fantasies he didn’t let himself think about too hard.)
But no. It's this... weird Vader-inspired bullshit.
I'm just so invested in Vader trying to help but making things legitimately a million times worse.
He wants to help :) Oh god, he wants to help.
Why aren't people more appreciative of how hard I'm helping them? - the Anakin Skywalker story
With less time to stew and also getting handed what he wants, Vader could absolutely flip on a dime the second he saw Luke being protected, and go from “I hate you” to remembering that Obi-Wan said he loved him, and now he must keep Obi-Wan safe out of debt and he just... he’s playing house.
Vader throws Obi-Wan a baby shower after the pregnancy is confirmed. Bail is invited, because Obi-Wan doesn't have a lot of friends still alive. Vader decides Bail is top of the Obi-Wan’s Friends List.
This is the first time they've seen each other in two years. Obi-Wan is heavily pregnant despite Bail knowing full well he didn't have the plumbing for that before the Empire rose. Cody is there and emotionally exhausted but more lucid than most troopers. Luke is running up to Leia because New Friend!!!
....there may be MORE of the 212th and 501st at the baby shower, with “kill all Jedi” orders revoked, of course. But it will keep the children safe!! And Cody and Obi-Wan can see their surviving friends!!
Cody: I'd be much happier to see my surviving troopers if they didn't all still have chips in their heads. Obi-Wan: I feel much the same. Vader: [404 error]
Bail and his family might be there at blaster point, but aren't you happy to see them, Obi-Wan??
Obi-Wan's endless trauma is honestly somewhat curtailed by the incessant need to facepalm at Vader’s bullshit
Obi-Wan and Cody both outwardly have a very "there are much worse people I could be stuck with in this situation but obviously I wish I'd had a choice, no hard feelings" attitude at each other.
Internally, Cody is suffering because this is NOT how he wanted his crush to be realized, and Obi-Wan is just suffering, period.
Cody: How did he even choose which of us ends up pregnant? Obi-Wan: He thinks I need to be protected, and that he needs to keep me safe. Cody: ...he does realize that you're better at-- Obi-Wan: Cody, he's completely lost it. No! He doesn't realize!
I feel like over the course of the year or two this plot unravels towards Palpatine getting murder-deposed and Anakin getting locked down, part of the driving force to Vader not being Vader anymore is that Luke actually really loves Uncle Obi and always starts fussing and going "Ben's sad" whenever Vader dismisses what Obi-Wan wants in favor of what Vader thinks Obi-Wan wants, and Vader can't deny his child anything.
Luke cries because Palpatine Feels Wrong like, once or twice, and Anakin goes “oh, okay, assassination time.”

You land your freighter just outside of Nevarro city nearly bursting with excitement knowing that you’re about to see Cara again. You haven’t seen her since she had just started hiding out on Sorgan. You grab your tan knapsack and jump off of the front ramp right before it touches the ground. You aren’t expecting anyone to be waiting for you at the entrance so you just head straight into the city. You spot Cara talking to a man after walking for a bit and taking in your surroundings.
“Cara!” You run at her with a giant smile on your face. Her head turns to you and her eyes widen while a smile graces her face as she sees you. She’s quick to catch you as you throw your arms around her waist.
“Y/n!?” You both part but she keeps her hands on your shoulders. “You’re here early.”
“I couldn’t wait another day to leave.” You bounce on your feet from all the excitement. “I’ve been so excited to see you again.” Cara chuckles at just the sheer amount of energy you’re emitting as she picks you up in a bear hug.
“Who’s this?” The man that Cara had been talking to asks as the two of you part.
“Hi! I’m Y/n!” You hold your hand out to him as you look up at his face. He glances towards Cara partially for an explanation.
“My cousin.”
“Ah, Cara had mentioned a cousin coming to visit. I’m Greef Karga.” He takes your hand and you shake it enthusiastically.
“It’s great to meet you.” Before Greef could say anything else you let go of his hand and spin around taking in everything again. “This place is so much nicer than the last time I was here. You’ve done an amazing job, Care!” You beam at Cara with your eyes closed. Now where am I staying exactly?”
“Follow me.” Cara motions with her hand the direction and you walk forward while Greef looks at Cara with a playful gleam in his eye.
Care?”
“Drop it.” Cara nudges his shoulder with a small smile as she catches up with you.
***
Din looks at Grogu playing with the only piece of the Razor Crest that was left over, his beloved ball.
“Grogu.” the child coos and turns his attention towards the Mandalorian who smiles under his helmet at the kid. “That asteroid field back there did some damage to the ship, how about we stop by Nevarro to visit our friends and get some repairs?” Din really just wants to get a whole new ship, one that isn’t already a hunk of junk when he finds it. The child just coos again before turning his attention back to the ball.
Din got stuck with an x wing that’s missing one of it’s set of wings past the thrusters. He’s just been praying that he doesn’t come across anymore republic pilots before he can get a new ship. The last thing he needs is them questing him. He misses having a hull and an area to sleep. Instead he’s been stuck sleeping in the pilots seat, that is when he does sleep. He’s awake most of the time making sure Grogu doesn’t press anything.
All in all Din just can’t wait to get to Nevarro to get some rest and hopefully a new ship.
***
Greef and Cara are talking about a friend of theirs when you join them in the cantina the next morning.
“When’s he showing up?”
“Some time today I think. He seemed exhausted over the holo.”
“Who did?” They both jump at your voice not hearing you approach the table.
“A friend of ours is coming back to visit.” Greef smiles at you as he speaks. You’ve made quite the impression of yourself to him and even though he hasn’t known you long he would die for you. It might have something to do with the contrast of your bubbly personality and how serious Cara and Mando always are.
“Oh that’s nice. So I get to meet him?” You look at Cara with hope in your eyes.
“Only if you don’t get too excited and do that thing you do that makes you overbearing.”
“I don’t do a thing like that.” Cara just looks at you with a straight face. “Oh come on Care, I didn’t do it with Greef!”
“That’s true.” Greef points at you and looks at Cara.
“Mando is different though Y/n, he’s got this kid with him-”
“Oh! I love kids!” You freeze as you clap your hands in excitement at the look she’s giving you. “Sorry.”
“He’s real protective of it. You can’t get all excited and run towards it, okay?”
“Okay, fine I won’t do the thing. Even though I’m not sure what you’re talking about.”
“Then you can meet him. Now, where do you want to start today?”
“Idk I figured we could just like catch up and then maybe you could show me the school.” You look up at her with pleading, hopeful eyes.
“That sounds great.”
Greef gets your attention after that, telling you about how they fixed the place up. You don’t see it but Cara gives you a sad smile as she speaks. She knows how much you love kids, how much you’ve always loved kids. She remembers how when the two of you were younger you would carry around stuffed toys and care for them as if they were children. How the two of you used to lay in the grass looking up at the stars and talk about anything and everything, oftentimes it led to you talking about how you can’t wait to have kids and shower them with all the love in the galaxy. She also remembers the broken expression on your face when you were told that you couldn’t have children of your own.
“Cara?” You wave your hand in front of her face to get her attention. “Are you ready to go?”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
***
Cara makes her way with you through the paths of the city knowing that you’re definitely gonna overreact at seeing the kid. You’re walking close to her and going on about how you’re so glad that she has friends now because for as long as you can remember she would tell you that she doesn’t need friends, she only needs you. Well that’s until you break off mid thought because you see him.
“A baby!” You speed up to pick up the little green bundle and Cara just misses your arm to stop you.
“Y/n stop.” You don’t pay any attention though and next thing you know there’s a blaster in your face and a mandalorian is holding the kid in his arm.
“Um, hi?” You give him a small wave and move your head to get a better look at the kid rather than the gun. Meanwhile the kid coos lightly and reaches an arm out to you, your mouth opens a bit at how cute he is. As you move to reach out to him the mandalorian grabs your wrist with the hand that was just holding the blaster.
“Who are you?” As a small ‘ow’ comes out of your mouth the kid coos as if he was upset with it. This causes the mandalorians' grip to loosen enough for you to take yours from it.
“I’m Y/n!” You smile up at the helmeted man and hold your hand out for him to shake. This confuses Din because he had just had a gun to your head and a harsh grip on your wrist, and yet you’re beaming up at him.
“Mando, hi, this is my cousin.” Cara stops next to you. “Y/n, this is Mando.” You bring your hand back to your side realizing he wasn’t gonna take it and turn to look at Cara.
“Did I do the thing?”
“Kinda.”
“Sorry.” You step back as you turn your attention back to Mando. Behind his helmet Din scrunches up his eyebrows in confusion. What do you have to be sorry for other than just trying to see the kid.
“Is there lodging?” Din focuses on Cara instead of saying anything to you. She just nods at him and motions for him to follow her. You walk with Cara purposely making sure to stay close to her so you don’t end up being overbearing to her friend.
Once in the room Din will be staying in he gently places Grogu on the bed before turning to rest his pistol on the table next to the bed.
“So what brings you to town this time?” Cara leans against the doorway and you stay out in the hall.
“I need a ship or at the very least repairs.”
“The repairs can happen, I’m not sure about the new ship though.”
“Who’s the freighter I landed next to belong to? I haven’t seen that around before.”
“Oh, that’s mine!” You enter the room with your hand raised a bit. Mando doesn’t even need to say anything or react for you to just know what he’s about to ask. “And she’s not for sale.” Din watches as you cross your arms and squint your eyes at him. He just puts his hands up in a mock surrender and sits on the bed.
“C’mon let’s give Mando some privacy.”
“Oh, I can give you and Greef a tour of my ship now!” Din watches as you bounce on your feet with each step you take out of the room. He finds himself noticing that after you leave, the room grows the smallest bit darker. He brushes the observation off as his eyes playing tricks on him and lays down on the bed ready for a good rest. He’s asleep when Grogu slips out of the room.
***
“This is quite the freighter you have.” Greef says from the passenger seat behind you.
“Isn’t Comet great!” You rub the dashboard with love as you speak. “She’s the only family I have left other than Cara, so I make sure she stays in tip top shape.” A small sad smile makes its way onto your lips as it always does nowadays when you think about Alderaan.
The door to the cockpit opens drawing all of your attention to it. Grogu coos as he looks around until his eyes land on you. He makes his way over to you and as he reaches your feet you bring him into your arms. Cara and Greef share a look with each other from the minute they see him.
“You are just the cutest little thing!” As you bring him up to be face to face with you Cara stands up to see if Mando is with him.
“Hey kid, where’s Mando?” Greef only gets a head tilt in response.
Meanwhile Din wakes up asking if Grogu wanted to go get some food just to be met with silence. He shoots up and looks around the room for some sign, any sign, of the kid. All he finds is the cracked open door and that’s enough to make him jump to action, quickly grabbing his blaster and speeding out of the inn. His first thought is to just find the kid but as he’s rushing through the city his next thought is that he should find Cara and Greef to help him.
“He’s gotta be worried sick, you can’t just wander away little one.” Grogus’ blabbering pulls Dins attention to the conversation. “Let’s get you back to your papa cutie.” Din rounds a corner and there’s the short girl from before smiling down at Grogu in her arms. He swears that when you look up and smile at him the world brightens like before in his room. “Look there he is.”
“Give him to me.” He speaks once you’re stopped in front of him and you nod as you hold Grogu out to him. As Mando brings him into his chest he coos and reaches out to you.
“Oh little one, it’s okay I’m still right here.” You step towards the child and let him grab onto your finger. Din can feel the heat coming from you through his clothes, penetrating his skin. He can’t help but to think about how much you look like a mother as he tilts his head down to watch you kiss Grogus head.
***
A few days pass and you spent as much time with Cara as you could, however the kid has barely allowed you out of his sight before he’s running away from the mandalorian to find you. You’ve wanted kids for so long that you don’t even question it, you just embrace him with open arms. Din however, Din can’t figure out why Grogu is so attached to you or why his own world is so much brighter when you’re around. He asked Cara about it once not outright but it was hinted at. All she had to say about it was that you’ve been like that your whole life, that your bubbly personality helped to spread joy to whoever was around you. But Din doesn’t think she understood what he meant though, he never mentioned the way his heart would swell while seeing you with Grogu.
The day comes when Din needs to get going, the two of them still can’t stay in one place for too long, and he’s nervous on how to tell the kid. Luckily for him he has Cara and Greef on his side. They helped plan to have everyone at the ships at the same time.
“Wow, this really is a piece of shit ship.” You walk around the broken x wing with the child safely in your arms.
“Why I was looking for a new one.” You shrug off how grumpy he sounds and walk back towards him. You know what’s about to come, you’re not dumb (as much as you seem like it sometimes), so you place the kid down on the ground and fix the straps of your knapsack and think to yourself.
Din picks up the kid while he has the chance and turns to say his goodbyes to Cara and Greef. He then stands in front of you not sure how to say bye or even if he’s ready to. And that’s fine because you’re too lost in your head that you don’t notice him stopped in front of you. When you look back up at him he just nods at you and turns to walk away. The child reaches out to you from over Mandos shoulder and his big sad eyes decide it for you.
“You could take my ship!” You watch closely as Mando stops and turns around, tilting his head as he looks at you. “I mean obviously I would be going with you, you can’t just have Comet. But this way you get to be in a nicer, bigger ship and the kid stays happy. I mean I also wouldn’t mind helping to take care of him and I’m sure you wouldn’t mind some help.” Mando just nods and motions with his head to your ship. You beam at him and turn to Cara to pull her into a big hug. “I’ll come visit again sometime soon, alright?”
“Yeah. Take care of yourself Y/n/n.”
“I will!” Greef is next for a hug, which he gladly returns. “It was great to meet you Greef!”
“Same kid. Don’t let Mando dull your light, he can be a bit of a grump.”
“It’ll be fine, I don’t let anyone dull my light.” With that you walk to your ship and open the ramp, waving back at them as you get inside.
Greef and Cara stop Mando before he follows after you.
“You better take good care of her.” He nods at Greef before turning his head to Cara.
“If anything happens to her Mando I swear, I’ll have your head.”
“She’ll be fine, I took care of the kid. I'm sure she’ll be less of a problem.” And with that he finally makes his way into the ship.

Chapter V
masterlist
synopsis: Paz Vizsla finds himself stuck on Dantooine with a broken ship and no credits. Luckily, he finds you, a mechanic that will fix his ship for passage to Hosnian Prime. Over the course of your time together, a courtship blooms.
warnings: none? i think?
word count: 2.5k
Han Solo could be punctual when he really wanted to. He really didn’t care to be, though. Leia had told him they had guests, and she’d like him back on Hosnian Prime in time for brunch. Han Solo didn’t care to have brunch with what he’d assumed were diplomats or royals. And diplomats and royals didn’t really care to dine with Han Solo.
“I’m sorry Han is so late,” Leia said, sitting next to you on the couch as you wrapped a braid around the crown of her head. “I should’ve known, I guess.”
You laughed a little. “I counted on him being late. I don’t know Han like you do, but I know him well enough.”
Leia smiled. Of course you knew Han well enough to count on him being late. Leia blames her forgetfulness about you on pregnancy, but she knows it was the time apart. She’s more than excited to bridge those gaps.
“I don’t want Mando to feel disrespected,” she said. “I know he’s important to you.”
You smiled at the mention of Paz. “He won’t feel disrespected, Leia, I promise. He knows who Han Solo is, you know. He’s a bit of a hero to those who do, uhm, illegal things.”
“Mando does illegal things?”
You shrugged. “He has.” Paz had smuggled things when the Tribe was really struggling and bounties were low, he had told you as your conversations got deeper.
“Well, I guess we have, too, technically,” Leia says. “And Alderaanian girls like bad boys. That’s what my mother used to say.”
You laughed and shook your head. “Let’s go ahead and eat. I don’t think Han would be mad if we started without him.”
“Alright, I’ll go tell Threepio we’re ready,” she said, standing up and smoothing her grey dress. “You go get your Mando, if he’d like to join.”
“I’m sure he will,” you say, standing up as well. Earlier that morning Leia had brought some comfortable lounging clothes to you, and you’d chosen loose grey pants and a matching crop top. You’d slipped on some house shoes to go with them. You and Leia had been braiding each other's hair while waiting for Han, something sisters on Alderaan held sacred and learned to do for all hair types and lengths. The braids both of you wore in your hair carried a deeper meaning today.
You caught a glance of yourself in the hallway mirror as you went to get Paz. You looked like a woman from Alderaan again. It was bittersweet, reminding you of years past. But it was also comforting, being wrapped in Alderaan again was daunting when you first arrived, but maybe it wasn’t so bad.
You knocked on the door of the aptly named Blue Room. “Paz? Can I come in?”
“One second,” he calls, voice unmodulated. You could hear him walking across the room to put on his helmet. A moment later, his voice rings through the vocoder telling you it’s safe.
You open the door as he’s strapping on his thigh plates, cuirass and pauldrons already in place. “I don’t think all that’s necessary,” you say. “Leia says it’s very secure here.”
“Maybe it’s not,” he says, fiddling with the clasp. “But this is the Way, kebiin’ika.” You nodded. You still didn’t know much about this Way, and you doubt you’ll ever fully understand it.
His visor is trained on you, he’s looking you up and down. Paz’s face grew warm as he admired your clothes, new and soft and classic Alderaan white. And your hair, kriff, it’s beautiful and intricate. You look very different to how you looked on Dantooine when he first met you, but just as beautiful. And even more relaxed. “You look very nice,” he said, silently cursing himself for saying something awkward.
Your face grew hot now. “Thank you, Paz,” you smile up at him. “That’s very sweet.”
“Just telling the truth, mesh’la,” he says.
“We’re going to eat breakfast, if you want to join,” you say, changing the subject away from yourself. “Han isn’t here yet, though.”
“Yeah, yeah I’ll join you,” he says, motioning you to go out the door first. Paz was relaxed today, and you wish his clothing could reflect it. He deserved to wear soft flowy fabrics so he could feel the breeze of Hosnian Prime and feel the soft fabric of Leia’s many couches and chairs. But maybe that wasn’t what he wanted, what he wanted was to wear his armor.
Leia was sitting in the sunroom at the back of the house, plates of small sandwiches and eggs cooked all types of ways and plenty of other foods lay out on the table before her. She stood up when the two of you entered the room, royal protocol continuing to persevere after all these years. “Good morning, Mando,” she says.
“Goodmorning, your highness,” Paz says with a bow of his head.
“Good!” C-3PO says as he brings in a kettle of tea. “You’re catching on, Master Mandalorian.”
Leia shakes her head with a laugh. “Don’t worry about the protocol, Mando. I don’t want to be too proper in my own home.”
Paz just nods, moving to sit in the chair next to yours. He’s eyeing the sandwiches, wishing he could have one, but in his four decades he’s gotten used to the temptation of food and to the long days without food.
You pick up a sandwich, some fruit, and some eggs to start with. Leia is working on doing the same when the sound of a ship gets deafening above the house. “Han!” Leia exclaimed, setting her plate down.
She went to the door of the sunroom that led into the back yard, watching as Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon settled down in the yard. As the ship hits the ground, Leia throws open the door and runs outside.
Han emerges from the hull, and you’re shocked to not see Chewbacca with him. Han and Leia hug and kiss, and Leia starts explaining something. You know Leia’s tells, the woman explains with her hands. You assume she’s explaining your and Paz’s presence, probably giving him a heads up that Paz is a Mandalorian, like Boba Fett.
Paz watches you watch your friends. A smile grows across your face as you watch Han’s hand splay across Leia’s pregnant belly, telling the baby something. His mind drifts as you start to eat, he imagines the two of you on Yavin with little Vizsla foundling running around as his hand splays across your belly, telling your baby something.
“Why if it isn’t my favorite mechanic!” Han says as he walks in.
He pulls you into a hug as you say, “You only flatter me when the Falcon needs fixing.”
“She’s good for now,” Han says, letting you go. “But if she ever isn’t, I know who to call.”
“Where’s Chewie?” You ask. Paz doesn’t know who Chewie is, but if he had to guess, it was the Wookie that always appeared with Han in holos.
Han took a bite before answering, but Leia was tired of scolding him for talking with his mouth full. “Back on Kashyyyk, helping them rebuild.”
“Good, that’s good,” you smile softly at the fond memories of the Wookie. “And congratulations, Han. On the baby.”
He smiles and his eyes flit to Leia’s stomach. “Thank you, it’s hard work for me, this baby.”
Leia slaps Han’s shoulder with one hand while the other caresses her stomach. “Oh, hush,” she says. “Hard work,” she mocks with a roll of her eyes.
“So, Mando,” Han says, turning to face Paz. “You’re with our prized mechanic, or so Leia tells me.”
Paz turns to Han. “I am.”
“Man of few words, this one,” he says, pointing his thumb over to Paz. “You know if you hurt her in any way, you’ll have pissed off almost all of the New Republic, right?”
Paz nodded. “I don’t plan to hurt her, Han Solo. I plan to keep doing the opposite.”
“Good, good,” Han says. “She’s like our sister, that one.”
“You know I’m right here, right?”
Han scoffs. “I haven’t lost that many brain cells.”
You laugh, taking a drink of some water. “Can never be too sure with you.”
The brunch went well, Han’s banter was a welcome change to conversation. Han even got Paz to talk more, engaging in conversations about racing and smuggling stories. It was nice to hear Paz converse, not as natural as he was when he was alone with you, but he seemed to be enjoying himself.
Now you and Leia sat on the couches in the study again, and Paz was out with Han, being shown the Millennium Falcon. You knew Paz probably didn’t care as much as he let on, but Han was always excited to show off his ship.
“They seem to be getting along,” Leia says.
You nod. “I’m surprised. I didn’t think Han would like him.”
“Han can get along with anyone, if he wants to,” Leia says. “He’s really excited about the baby, you know.”
You nod. “I can tell,” you say. “Though I figured he’d want to name the baby Falcon or something.”
Leia lets out a belly laugh, throwing her head back. “You know,” she says between laughs. “He did consider the names Millie and Falcon.”
“Maker, of course he did,” you laugh with her.
Once the laughter dies down, Leia speaks. “I’m not wanting you to leave,” she starts. “Just wondering how long you’ll be here. The senate session starts again in a week, and I’m going to be gone a lot.”
You shrugged. “I didn’t really have a plan. I’m sure he’ll be wanting to get back to Yavin IV soon, though. His tribe will need him. Maybe we’ll leave tomorrow.”
“I don’t want you to leave so soon, you could stay here, if you wanted.”
You shook your head. “I don’t know…I want to be with my Mando. He told me last night he planned to marry me.”
“You know I love you, right? I care about you?” You nod. “Ok, good. Because you barely know this man, and you’re going to marry him?”
You felt yourself getting defensive. “I’ve known him for a week, I know that it seems insane, but I am getting to know him. He’s very sweet, Leia. And it’s not like we’re getting married now.”
“I know, I just worry,” she sighs.
“I know, and I’m glad,” you say. “We spent three days alone in hyperspace, he’s an open book if he wants to be.”
-
The rest of the day was relaxed, but you could tell Paz was exhausted from Han’s talking when the two of you finally retired for the evening. Paz was stripping his armor off and stretching when you came out of the fresher in a nightgown Leia gave you. It was white, somewhat sheer if the light hit you right. And it took Paz’s breath away. He still had his thigh plates on when he approached you, hands falling to your waist as he looked down at you. His gloves were off, and you saw the small scars that covered his deep brown hands as they rested on your hips. “This is really pretty,” he says.
You giggle. “You like sheer things. Noted.”
He chuckles a little, too. “You’re just really beautiful is all. Especially in that,” he’s looking you up and down again, the helmet moving dramatically as he takes you in. “I really wish I could kiss you, you know.”
Your hands find his forearms, rubbing circles with your thumbs. “I wish you could, too.” The two of you are standing so close. Sure, you’d cuddled, you’d reclined between his legs, but this feels so much closer.
Paz must’ve been thinking the same thing, and it must’ve scared him, because he took a few steps back. “Sorry,” he apologized quietly.
You tilted your head, brow arching. “Why are you sorry?”
“I don’t know,” he replies, even quieter. He turns around and goes back to the chair where he had stacked his armor, moving to unclasp the thigh plates and add them to the pile.
“You don’t have to be sorry about wanting to kiss me,” you tell him, walking over to the bed and starting to pull the duvet back. “Or telling me you want to kiss me. It’s not strange, it’s hot.”
He laughs a little at that. “It’s not weird?”
You’re shocked at this forty year old man asking you a question like a teenager. “No, Paz, it’s not weird. It’s good, giving people a heads up.”
He’s nodding, obviously not completely convinced. “Told the droid I needed our clothes washed,” he says. “Don’t have my sleep pants. Is it ok if I wear shorts?”
You’re a little confused, but you try not to show it. “Yeah, love, that’s fine. I don’t care.”
He enters the ‘fresher, shorts and sweatshirt in hand. When he returned, it was your turn to ogle. His thighs, kriff, his thighs. Paz was a big man, obviously his thighs would be big, too. But seeing them without the armor or the sweats was something else.
“You look nice.”
He laughed. “Haven’t had my legs out in a long time.”
You smile. “I like it. It’s hot.” He makes his way to the bed, sitting next to you. You look at his legs, and they’re littered with a few deep scars, blaster wounds, and a few smaller scars.
“I’ll tell you about them someday,” he says when he realizes that you’re staring. “Not tonight though.”
You nod. “You know what you should do tonight?” He hums. “You should kiss me.”
“Kebiin’ika,” he says. “You sure?”
“Paz Vizsla, you told me last night that you planned to marry me. I’m sure,” you say.
“Close your eyes,” he says, and you obey. You hear the lights click off and the helmet land with a clunk on the nightstand. You feel his hand on your cheek, large and warm and comforting. “You’re so pretty, mesh’la,” he whispers.
You smile. “Just kiss me, Vizsla.”
He’s the one who obeys this time, closing the gap between the two of you. His lips are large and soft and warm, and they fit so well between your own.
Your hand wanders to his cheek, feeling his stubble under your palm as your lips find a rhythm with his.
He breaks the kiss first, resting his forehead against yours. “We call this a keldabe kiss in Mando’a,” he says, a little breathless. “Because Mandos can’t kiss with their helmets on.”
You smile, your hand still on his cheek, thumb slowing caressing him. “I wish I could see your face.” Your thumb stops, you freeze, scared that you’d offended him.
“You will, mesh’la, you will,” he whispers. “Someday.”

The ball room has never been so colorful like before, and you were certain you had never felt so many eyes laid on you like shadows in the dark. Like they were waiting for one single wrong move from you, a false step, so to say.
Your feet almost slid across the floor as you searched for your grandfather Palpatine in the crowd, he was nowhere to be seen. So many unfamiliar faces and no one to recognize, but again, you had no friends.
"Hello."
You turned around and met the brown eyes of your sister, Rey, who was staring at you with a relaxed smile.
"Oh, hello me?" You stupidly looked around in a brisk, "Uh, hi. You look beautiful! Is that mother's dress?"
An astonishing scarlet dress with a V neckline, you wouldn't say it was adequate for the coronation, but she looked amazing in it. Rey's new crown fit her head perfectly, you swore it was your father's crown but the newly red crystal on it made you doubt a little. What kind of crystal was that, anyway?
"I can say the same about you." Rey sweetly smiled and looked to the huge crowd dancing around the large gala room. She never looked at you for too long, you guessed it was merely because...well, you actually had no idea.
"Your Majesty, the duke of Alzakan."
"Alsakan! Duke of Alsakan! Ahem," You stared at Rey, and given to you two being sisters, you could sense how tense she'd gotten when a taller man approached her and overly exaggerated bowed down. You don't remember hearing about this duke's arrival, even if he made it seem like he was the brightest star of the room.
The queen gave him a polite nod.
"Your Majesty, as your most profitable trading partner, it is an honor to finally meet the true queen of Naboo." The man gently kissed Rey's hand, but even if it was just a respectful greeting, you didn't blame her for being tense. This duke had the energy of a child that ate too much sugar.
Behind Rey, you coughed by accident and it caught their attention as you saw both heads turn to you with brows furrowed. You got your perfect princess posture back and offered them a apologetic smile and a wave.
Rey put herself in front of you as a way of ending this embarassing moment and distract the duke as she offered her hand for a shake.
"I must say the same about you, Duke Pryde. My grandfather spoke very highly of you." This surely boosted Pryde's ego as he smug smirked to his guards behind him, "I hope our trade routes will remain as sucessful as they were with my parents."
"Well, I, uh." Their conversation faded to background noise as you tried to distance yourself from the spotlight and pretend this never happened, maybe if you slowly backed off nobody would notice the younger princess slinding off somewhere.
You felt too many eyes on you, even if your eyes were certain nobody was watching you. You did not plan on disappointing anyone, at least, not at your sister's coronation party. Full of grace, you looked to the crowd and surroundings, and your eyes paused on a strange symbol on the far away wall just to your right. It was a sixteen-rayed symbol inscribed within a hexagon, denoting an explosive force pushing against attempts to contain it.
You were quite sure you'd seen this symbol before, somewhere. Your eyes only focused on the sigil as you tried your hardest to search your memories for it. But, the closer you got to it, an invisible force pushed it further from your grasp. Just like sand slips through your fingers when you attempt to hold it.
In fact, you do not remember your childhood, nor your early teenage years. Not a single thing. You just remember the feelings after something traumatic had happened; the loneliness, the pain, the anger and more loneliness. Sometimes, as of right now, your mind didn't feel like your own, nor did your memories. They felt like they belonged to someone else. Someone who was not you.
Tu'iea eyes deceive tu, isar nenx jostas savimi
The whispers in the walls. There they were again. They always came from the walls, but you only say that because you hate to admit that they sound right next to you.
"(Y/N)?"
You loudly gasped as you turned around in a fright, your eyes met Rey's once more. She was frowning, and with a slight worried look painted on her eyes. Oh, you hoped nobody heard it.
"Is everything alright?"
You quickly washed off your scared face and laughed to ease the situation you were currently stuck in, hoping she wouldn't do any questions about it. Or mention it by any case.
"Dear stars, yes, I'm quite alright, thank you. It was probably just some bug."
She nodded, and only when she moved away from you that you realized Rey was holding your hand in a way of calling for your attention. Before moving to her side, you glanced an eye to the wall where the symbol was, but it wasn't there.
"This party looks so alive." Rey commented besides you, her eyes were as bright as stars in the sky as she watched the people dance like there was no worries in the whole galaxy.
"Maybe we could keep the gates open." You suggested, your heart full of hope. "Your queen now, Palpatine can't control us anymore. We can bring life back into the palace!"
"We can't just change things without thinking, (Y/N)."
"But why not? It can be like before. I don't understand." You softly grabbed her hands and stared into her eyes, "This party doesn't have to be the only one. We can have plenty of more!"
"That's right," She replied, and your smile stretched further, "You don't understand. You never will. Things will never be like before."
And just like that, you felt your heart shatter into millions of pieces, like somebody just pulled your heart out of your chest and stabbed it right in front of you. Even if you and Rey weren't close, she had never spoken to you that way. No, something changed about her.
Upon realizing her mistake, Rey let go of your hands and smiled, but a strange one. A forced smile.
"Forgive me, I...Excuse me."
Not even giving you the chance to apologize, you watched Rey disappear behind some group of horned beings, which you didn't even try to remember what they were before you heard another voice behind you.
"Princess (Y/N), we meet again." Kylo Ren, that voice was impossible to forget. "I was just about to meet the queen, did something happen?"
"Oh, no, she had to...to talk to some duke of Alzakan." You looked back at with, forcing the same smile Rey had just pulled ten seconds ago.
"You look upset." His coal eyes were analyzing you once more, as if he was trying to read your inner thoughts. His eyes were like black holes, you quote internally, so easy to get lost in. They held so many emotions within. Your mother used to tell you that your eyes are mirrors to your soul, and you believe it, most of the time. You wonder what kind of soul Kylo Ren had.
"I'm sorry, do you want to get some air?"
The king silently nodded and gave you the front lead to the palace private gardens, your most favorite place to wander around and be in contact with nature, since you weren't allowed to leave the palace's grounds.
The echoes of the enchanting gala sounds began to fade in the background at each step you took farther from it. The shiny walls were replaced by glass ones, the only barrier between you and the actual garden. It was ethereal at moonlight, a complete breathtaking view. If you were to choose a place to spend all of eternity, this garden would be the chosen one.
Saturn Gardens.
The name you remember choosing for them when you were a child. Which doesn't make a lot of sense since it's only one garden, but hey, who cares right? Saturn was a funny name, you had a slight feeling it belonged to a name of something you were deeply fond of, but you couldn't quite grasp what it was. Nonetheless, you were thankful you choose a good name for them.
Yvir always told you how heavenly you looked at moonlight, and you're sure of it. This place is almost magical, so peaceful and silent even when there's a party happening just on the end of the hallway. You remember falling asleep here a few times, either it was reading or painting. You were quite a multi-talent person thanks to growing up bored and isolated on a huge palace, so you've gained a few skills here and there. This place was your big centre of inspiration.
You felt free here, from all responsabilities and troubles of life.
You discreetly glanced a curious eye to Kylo, who was walking besides you and attentively exploring the garden with his eyes only. In your mind, you wondered if he had a safe place too. A place where he felt free of everything, where he could relax without troubles, or where he felt inspired. Maybe everyone has something like that, you're not sure.
"Truth be told, I have no idea why my grandfather ordered the gates to be closed, or why most staff was fired." You sighed while your fingers gently passed through some book pages laying there on the pale blue glass table. Kylo looked over to you with an intrigued gaze. "Or why my sister shut me out. It was always me and myself."
So distracted by your thoughts, you barely noticed Kylo taking your hand from the book and hold it. His hands felt warm, surprisingly, as you had imagined that they were cold as ice. In difference to yours, his hands were also far larger. It caused a small smile across your lips.
"I spent most of my childhood lonely too." He admitted, his eyes never leaving your hands. "My parents were either ignoring me or too busy to hear me."
You remember the stories about them, but you didn't want to cross the line and ask him. This conversation you and the king of Alderaan were currently having was something that already cross rule number three; never mention his parents. So this caught you off guard.
Probably noticing your tense posture, Kylo's eyes shifted to yours; they held such a curious yet comforting gaze, as if this was his attempt to say "it's okay" without actually saying those two words. The moon behind him made him seem like an angel.
"I know how you feel." He assured you calmly. You were so lost in his eyes, so lost in the way they stared at you. "You can talk to me."
If you could preserve this moment, you would. You'd keep it close to your heart and protect it from all darkness in the galaxy. The mighty and mysterious Kylo Ren, former prince and now king of Alderaan, just opened his heart to you and pronounced those five words that you had never been told before.
You hoped this wasn't a dream. It'd break your soul if it was.
"Do you dance?" Upon your sudden question, Kylo raised an eyebrow. You got up from your seat and twirled around, loving the way your dress moved. "Will you dance with me?"
Even if his lips didn't move, his eyes expressed all the emotions you needed. They were like a calm ocean, or the rising sun in a early morning.
"My lady," He politely offered you his hand, once more. "It would be my pleasure."
You smiled, the most genuine smile you'd had in a long time. Your heart was filled with joy and excitement, hopefully it wouldn't jump out of your chest by the way it was beating so fast. Faster than the way you rushed to the coronation. You never felt like this for someone, no, and definitely not for him.
His moves were calculated, but so tender-hearted and light. He twirled you around again and kept you close to his chest, one hand on your waist and another one guiding your other hand. At this point, you weren't even worried about making the wrong turn or stepping your foot on his. No, no, it was like your body was no longer your own, but knew perfectly which steps to take and you were glad for that.
In your mind, you imagined dancing like this with Kylo in the middle of a royal ballroom, but it was only you two. With or without music, it didn't matter, you and Kylo were too busy staring at each other's eyes to notice any background sound.
You had no idea how long you two had been dancing, but it ended so quickly.
"May I ask you something?" He asked in a strange, low voice.
"Of course, anything." You stepped a bit away from him once the dance came to an end.
Kylo traced lines alongside your hand, back and forth, and another hand came to meet your cheek as he slowly caressed it.
"Will you marry me?"
Oh dear stars.
Everything stopped around you, at least that's what you felt. You didn't even know what to say or do. Maybe, just maybe, the universe was finally showing you your destiny. That you were worthy of something just like Rey is.
The king of Alderaan had just asked you to marry him, and there was only one answer available to your heart.
You laughed and smile, nodding in happiness, "Yes!"
The ballroom was still full, everybody seemed to be having a great time just like you. Palpatine was nowhere to be seen, but Rey was seen talking to Duke Pryde and some others you assumed were also trading partners. Poor thing, a part of you felt guilty she had to spend her party talking to them. She didn't look happy. But maybe the news you're about to give her will make it up. That's what you hoped for.
Moving through the crowd as you held Kylo's hand had already got you lots of side-eyes and surprised gasps and whispers. This will entertain them for a very long time, and you didn't even try to hide your smile. Why would you? You're the most happy person in this room right now, and you were not going to hide your emotions again.
"Rey! I mean, your Majesty, may I speak to you, please?"
She nodded, excusing herself from the boring companies, and followed you to a more empty space of the room.
"I, I mean, we'd like to ask for your blessing on," You and Kylo looked at each other for a brief moment, "on our marriage!"
Rey almost chocked on her drink and quickly put it down on a table.
"Ma,Marriage?" You nodded. "I'm sorry, I'm quite confused here."
"Well, I know it's a bit of a sudden, and we haven't planned the ceremony, but it could happen here! Just like mother and father's wedding." You chuckled innocently at the thought of it.
"If Your Majesty doesn't mind it, of course." At this comment, that you didn't spare a thought, Rey furrowed her brows at Kylo in a angry stance and dismissed him completely.
"We could invite everyone in the kingdom! We could get so many songs to play and the decoration, oh I'll need to talk with Yvir." You put your hands on your hips, going through a mental list of preparatives for the wedding. You couldn't wait to tell Yvir.
"(Y/N)-"
"Oh stars, I hope you don't mind if Kylo stays here until the wedding! I'll need a few days to plan everything-"
"Absolutely not! (Y/N)!"
You stopped, her loud voice kicking all thoughts you previously had. Kylo, next to you, stared at her with indifference, like this somehow didn't even surprise him.
Rey inhaled calmly, "With all due respect, your Majesty, but my sister can't marry a man she just met."
"What? You can't decide that for me, Rey. I'm an adult, just like you." You crossed your arms, eyebrows furrowed just like hers. Your sister's expression turned to a more uncomfortable one, and you had no idea why this was making her be like that.
"(Y/N), you're too young to know about love."
"And I suppose you know instead? All you ever did was shut everyone out. You shut me out."
All the eyes in the room were now on you three, this time not even a single whisper was heard. Even more silent than the gardens. Rey shifted uncomfortably on her feet, moving her fingers repeatedly, a panicked gaze on her eyes.
"(Y/N)-"
"Just why, why do you do this? Why did you shut me out? What are you so afraid of?" Unlikely and unexpected, you screamed at her, only to regret it the moment that sentence left your mouth. But it was too late.
"That's enough, (Y/N)!"
A rash strong blow sent Kylo flying across the room. Hadn't it been for Kylo placing himself as a shield in front of you, you knew that was intended for you.
"That's the force." Somebody said.
"She's a Jedi!"

Vencuyanir - Prologue
vencuyanir [ven-COO-yah-neer]: sustain, keep alive, preserve
Summary: About to be taken away from Arvala-7, Elana only has two objectives: keeping Bean alive and getting away from the Mandalorian
Words: 2.8k
Notes: This is the first longer series I have attempted in years, and I am so excited for this! Also the entire story is the most self indulgent enemies-to-lovers slow-burn I’ve ever planned and written so hopefully you’ll like it as well! Elana is an OC with Chinese features (+ my personal face claim), but I won’t be physically describing her a lot, so hopefully you could still see this as kinda “reader”
Warnings: canon-typical violence (death, gun violence), (implied) past child abuse, hostages/(implied) slavery

"Bean?" Elana called out, looking for the little child. He was currently hidden from her, in some place she could not find. Yet.
The hide-and-seek session she had initiated to stave off the boredom had turned into a nightmare. Elana had no idea where Bean would be, and she did not wanted to go and ask the Niktos outside. They were already barely tolerating her.
After Alderaan was destroyed a few years back she had drifted around the galaxy, and by chance, was approached by a friendly looking woman who told her that there was a well-paying, low maintenance job on a Outer Rim planet called Arvala-7 waiting for her. She took it without hesitation, and not a thought was spared about how such an opportunity was too good to be true.
Well, it definitely was not well-paying.
She barely got any of the money she was promised, which was why she was stuck on Arvala-7, guarded by Niktos that fended off the bounty hunters that appeared every few days.
The reason for her job? A baby. Elana was hired to take care of a small baby, which was not what she had pictured, at all.
But after taking just one look at the small green child with the huge dark eyes and even larger ears, she fell in love. It could be a maternal instinct, or maybe it was her own soft heart that made her fiercely protective of him. There was an instant connection the moment she entered the room he was in, the baby reaching out towards her as soon as he set his eyes on her, babbling incessantly. For lack of better words, there was a bond of sorts between them. Elana could feel, even pinpoint sometimes what the little bean was sensing, and knew that he was the same with her.
A soft coo finally alerted Elana to Bean's position, him giving himself away since he grew bored. She hurried to him, and scooped him up, heart beating fast in her chest.
"There you are, honey," she sighed in relief, tracing his large petal ears with a gentle finger. He cooed at her and patted at her face with his three fingers, claws not yet sharp enough to break skin. He grabbed at the end of her braid and put it in his mouth. Elana carefully took it out again, and quickly snatched a wooden toy he could gnaw on. The child wrapped his claws around it quietly, and started nibbling, big trusting eyes blinking up at her.
Elana tried not to think about it too much because it broke her heart, but all the signs were there. Bean was too quiet. He did not make many noises. And if he did, only when it was absolutely necessary.
He did not ask for food or water. He ate quickly and left no crumbs anywhere. He did not flinch when a blaster shot rang through the air, but did when someone moved too fast near him. She really wished that her suspicions were wrong, but Bean exhibited behaviour that was proof of him being mistreated before she had come along.
Bean cooed softly, nuzzling her arms, and smiled at her. The sight was adorable.
"Let's get you something to eat, all right?" Elana said, bouncing him on her hip, and set off towards the kitchen.
The Niktos have provided them with food and shelter, as well as weapons for defense, like blasters and some knives. Elana did not really know how to use them, beyond how to pull a trigger and stab someone with the pointy end. And that was it. It was not as if any of the Niktos bothered to teach her. She knew maybe a quarter of them by name, the rest by sight, but it was purely a business-like relationship.
Without Bean, she would have been utterly alone on Arvala-7. To be fair, she would not even be there if it was not for Bean, but she would not have it any other way. The little area they were given to live in consisted of a small kitchen, a bath, and a bedroom where the pram for Bean was located. It was not much, but enough.
Enough to survive.
She had no reason to complain, Elana often reasoned with herself, she had a roof over her head, cooling systems for the scorching days and heaters for the cold nights. She was given enough food and clothes to sustain herself and the little one she cared for. Even if Elana had no idea why she was actually there. She knew not the names of those who hired her, she did not know the reason why so many people sought to take Bean, why they were not even close to stopping after months of a constant stream of bounty hunters, all trying their luck.
Shaking those thoughts away, she returned to her original task of going to the kitchen.
The ration packets were stored in a drawer, and she noticed with a frown that the amount was steadily dwindling. It would still be enough for over a week, but it was definitely something that the Niktos should know about. They would get some more on their next supply run off the planet. Grabbing a small packet of rehydratable meat, and adding some water to a small pot, Elana prepared a simple meal for Bean. Then she heated water in another pot and made herself a cup of tea.
Bean sat upright in his stool, and watched her with curious, intelligent eyes. He babbled excitedly when she finished stirring, ears wiggling, making Elana smile.
The little child ate slowly as she fed him, blinking up at her and cooing. She cooed right back, and he smiled brightly, little teeth catching the light.
"You like the food? The consistency is nice, huh?"
He babbled, feet kicking slightly.
Suddenly, there was a shot outside. Elana whipped her head around, promptly positioning herself in front of Bean. More shots followed. Bounty hunters again.
She knew the drill already, so she quickly scooped Bean up and placed him in his pram. The baby was silent, staring up at her with big eyes, and a feeling of fear creeped along their bond. That was when she knew that something was wrong, that something was different from the other times. The shooting was still continuing, going on for longer than usual. There were too many shots for it to be only one bounty hunter, there had to be more than before, a small army?
A Nikto, who she recognized as Heku, ran inside the small quarters, two blasters in his hand.
"You stay here," he told her with his accented Basic, a frown on his face. "These are different hunters."
Elana nodded, eyes wide, and went to the pram, not closing it yet, before nudging it towards the wall, so it would be out of the way.
Heku looked over his shoulder before putting a blaster in her hand. "Doesn't look good," he said, "shoot them if they get in."
With those words, he ran outside again, leaving Elana reeling. If they get in? That had never happened before, not even close. Normally, all two dozen of the Niktos were enough to dispatch any bounty hunters.
The front door, made of sturdy durasteel closed with a screech while the sound of blaster fire rang through the air, the shots now muffled through it. Elana fumbled with the weapon in her hand, heart beating a staccato, shoulders squared.
It was becoming louder outside; they seemed to have set up some kind of blaster gun that was shooting in the direction of the housing camp.
Clenching her jaw tightly, she clutched the blaster in her shaking hands. They were right outside. Elana could hear the blaster shots, the screams of the Niktos who were defending Bean and her, the sounds of a brutal fight going on just a few meters away from them. The pram was right behind her, and Bean was silent, watching with wide eyes.
"It's all right, Bean", Elana heard herself say, doing her best not to panic. "I'll protect you."
Her heart was thumping hard in her chest and she feared that she would become dizzy. The nauseating feeling of helplessness creeped up Elana's throat and she honestly did not know what to do.
Fight them? Laughable. Elana was barely able to shoot straight. Negotiate with them? Probably not even that. Most of the time the hunters were gunned down quickly, and it would have been the only thing worth mentioning on that particular day. But this? They were mowing down the Niktos like it was nothing, and the chance of the Niktos getting them was dwindling with every shot.
Bean and her had to stay together no matter what. Hopefully, they were bounty hunters who would take them alive and she could go with Bean as his caretaker. As long as the both of them were together, they stood a chance.
It was going to be fine. It would be fine.
"No matter what, I'll stay with you," she told Bean, looking at him with desperation. Pulling the tiny child near her, Elana kissed his forehead, eyes scrunched together, trying to keep the tears from escaping.
Bean did not make a sound, but she swore he could understand what was happening.
The shots stopped.
She closed the pram, hands shaking.
One Nikto ran in, blaster in hand. He nodded at her before positioning himself behind one of the pillars. Elana held her breath, heart in her chest. They shot at the door. They actually used blaster bolts to get through the door. When it collapsed inwards, she was surprised that there were only two bounty hunters. An IG-unit bounty droid and- was that a Mandalorian?
Elana froze. Oh no.
If it was a Mandalorian, then her chances of getting out alive were very small indeed.
The Nikto tried to shoot at him but with lightning fast speed and uncanny precision the Mandalorian made short work of him with a single shot.
"Anyone else?" came the wry rhetorical question, crackled through a modulator.
She pulled the trigger.
It actually hit him, glanced off his pauldron with a ping. Elana had no time to celebrate her little victory however, as blaster bolts suddenly rained down on her, and she lunged behind the pillar, seeking shelter, shoulders hunched up. The dust and smoke made it hard to see, but she could make out a blaster bolt was uncomfortably near Bean's pram, and panic welled up in her. "Cease fire! I surrender!" she shouted, squeezing her eyes shut and pressing herself into the pillar some more.
"Cease fire, please!"
They stopped shooting.
Elana closed her eyes, fighting off her tears. This is it. "Don't shoot, I'm coming with you," she said as soon as she swallowed the lump in her throat, "I'm the one you're looking for." Stepping out from behind her pillar, palms raised in surrender, heart beating fast, she blinked up at the two bounty hunters, subtly shielding Bean's pram in the process.
The Mandalorian's tracking fob was pointed at her, through her. Maybe, hopefully she could play it as if she was the bounty. Maybe they could leave Bean in peace. There must have been someone who had survived, right? They could take care of Bean. She would gladly suffer for more than a hundred lifetimes if it meant that Bean would be safe.
Breathing hard, trembling like a leaf, she tried to suppress her tears, scared to death. "Please, don't kill me, I'll go with you," she got out, voice shaky. Please let them think that I am the bounty.
The droid's head whirled around to Elana and she could not help her flinch. The Mandalorian stood rigidly, his helmet tilted down at her menacingly. He stepped closer, the fob trained on her, beeping rapidly.
"Identify yourself. You are not the bounty," the droid commanded.
She gulped, feeling ice cold. "Elana Lissiri," she choked out, throat not properly working. So there went the chance of properly protecting Bean.
"Step aside," the Mandalorian told her, voice low and raspy. She shook her head, vision blurring, trying to stay in the way of them, but the Mandalorian grabbed her wrist efficiently, and turned her around, twisting her arm against her back. Elana grimaced in pain, and struggled against him briefly.
"Step aside or I'll make you," he threatened, and she felt a blaster poking between her shoulder blades.
For a split second, Elana thought about doing something reckless like stomping on his feet or freeing herself somehow, but then let herself go limp. She would not do Bean any favors if she got herself shot, and he was too strong to overpower anyways. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, internally begging for forgiveness.
The tracking fob in the Mandalorian's hand was loud in her ears, every beep made dread curl in her belly and her chest seize up. He shoved her aside roughly when it was clear that she had been shielding the pram. The IG-unit behind him raised its blasters and stalked towards Bean's hiding place. The Mandalorian cuffed her against a pipe sticking out of the wall, securing one wrist so she would not escape.
"Don't hurt him, please, Maker, please don't," Elana begged, sinking to her knees. Trying her best to shield how terrified she was from their bond, she sent out as much warmth as she could to the little child. Both bounty hunters moved closer to Bean, the Mandalorian pressing the button in the centre of the pram.
It opened with a hiss, and she could see how Bean sat up, ears raised and head tilted in interest.
"He is just a baby," Elana whispered, willing the tears to stay at bay, "Just a baby, please don't kill him." Elana couldn't tear her eyes away from the tiny green child, certain that that was it. They would kill them both. She took in the soft petal ears, the big dark eyes, the tiny, adorable button nose for what was probably the last time, and tried not to cry. She loved the little one. She loved him so much.
"Wait. They said fifty years old", she barely registered the Mandalorian speaking, his voice rough like gravel.
"Species age differently", the IG-unit replied. "Perhaps it could live many centuries."
"Please." Breath ragged, she looked up at the bounty hunters. "Please, I'll do anything, but don't kill him."
Bean leaned forward, big eyes curious, pushing down his blanket to get a better view of the newcomers. A questioning feeling ran along their bond. Elana's heart nearly broke in two.
"Sadly, we'll never know." The IG unit raised its blaster, and she tried to get in front of the pram without success, straining against the cuff. The Mandalorian stopped the droid before the blaster was fired, though. It was a cruel, cruel thing, giving her a moment of hope that the child would survive. Breath ragged, she tried to stop the panicked noises rising in her throat.
"No. We'll bring it in alive."
"The commission was quite specific," the IG-unit said, "The asset was to be terminated."
Elana closed her eyes, shaking like a leaf now. Not Bean, she thought, despair rolling off her in waves, please, not my Bean. She tried to get to the pram again, rattling at the cuff with all her strength, not caring when it hurt and cut into her skin.
A shot rang out.
She gave a full body flinch, hunching into herself. But the bond was not broken. Nor did she feel any pain or fear.
The bond was not broken.
They didn't kill Bean.
Elana looked up, eyes wide, head full of questions.
The IG-unit fell to the ground with a thud. Smoke rose from the central processing unit. She stared at it before shifting her gaze to the other bounty hunter.
The Mandalorian seemed to be transfixed by Bean. He reached out a finger hesitantly, and after a second, Bean reached back, letting out a delighted coo.
Elana blinked in confusion. Bean likes him? Something about their interaction struck her deeply, and the bond between Bean and her suddenly swelled, as if something clicked into place.
The Mandalorian's helmet then snapped around to her, and she flinched again. "Are you its caretaker?" he asked gruffly. Elana barely managed to nod, scared out of her wits.
He was quiet for a long time, his presence alone enough to make her hold her breath. Then he walked over, and took off her cuff more gently than she would have expected from a bounty hunter.
She looked up at him, shaking in fear, the visor glaring down menacingly. A low command came from him, causing shivers to run down her back.
"Pack your things."

In Trouble | Plo Koon x reader smut
This is my first time writing smut so I hope it turned out ok. @hxldmxdxwn and her thirsty Plo Koon anons inspired me, love them all! If this doesn't suit you, don't read. I'll make more in the future. 😉 Feedback is always appreciated. I hope everyone likes it!
Warnings: NSFW, vibrator teasing, spanking, thigh riding, whatever you call foreplay in public
You sighed nervously as you looked in the mirror. Needless to say, you weren't too sure about the dress you bought. It was a gorgeous candy apple red with off the shoulder straps and the bust was intricately embroidered with a sweetheart cut. The midsection was corset style until it flared out into a satin skirt that came down to the bottom of your thighs. It was a tad short for your taste. You took a step back and looked at the entire ensemble together. You looked great with subtle makeup, your hair done up beautifully, and matching shoes. You took a deep breath and held it for a few seconds before exhaling shakily.
"I can sense your anxiety."
You jumped and turned around to see Jedi Master Plo Koon standing by the door. You looked at him for a few seconds and then looked back at the mirror, fidgeting with the straps. You watched in the mirror as Plo walked up behind you. He gently placed his large hands on your arms.
"You look stunning, my dear." He adored.
"Thank you, Plo. I'm just nervous," you admitted, "This is an important dinner."
"Anything I can do to relieve your stresses?" He offered, his thumbs rubbing up and down your arms.
You turned to face him, putting your hands on his shoulders. "Just be there for me, like you always are."
"I'll be right across from you. You have no need to worry." He placed one hand on your cheek, his tough leathery skin a welcome contrast to your soft smooth skin.
"Thank you, darling."
You rested your forehead against Plo's and touched your nose against his mask. This was as close as you two got to kissing, you both thought it was more intimate. Two beings sharing thoughts and emotions. You were not force sensitive, but through your force bond with Plo Koon you were able to pick up little ripples in the force.
As your minds embraced one another, he was able to share his calm and collected aura with you, easing your nerves. You felt the tension in your muscles fade away and confidence take its place. You and Plo separated and you shared a smile with him, though you were only able to feel his through the bond.
"We should be going," you said.
"Yes, but first, I have a gift for you." Plo reached into the pocket of his robes and brought out a small box.
You looked at him curiously as he placed the box in your hand. "Thank you, Plo."
"I am not so sure you'll be as thankful once you see what it is, little one," he stated.
Your hand froze on the cover of the box and you turned your eyes up to look at Plo through your eyelashes. "Why, what is it?"
"You will see."
Now more curious than ever, you lifted the cover of the box and took out the item inside. It was a small rubber object shaped like a stretched diamond and slightly curved. You turned it over in your hands and looked at Plo.
"What is it?"
Plo reached in his pocket again and brought out a flat teardrop shaped item, only a little bit bigger than the one in your hand. He pressed a raised divot on the object and the one in your hand began to vibrate. You jumped a little bit before putting two and two together.
"A vibrator?" You questioned with a smirk. "It's a nice gift, babe."
"I was hoping you would wear it tonight."
You thought the look of shock would be permanently stuck on your face with how stunned you were. "Y-you want me to wear it? Tonight?"
"Yes," Plo confirmed, his voice calm and steady. "There will be a lot of people there," you said. You looked down to hide the blush staining your cheeks.
Plo placed a finger on your chin and tilted your head back up to him. "Don't pretend the idea doesn't excite you," he chided.
That was a negative of the force bonding, you could never hide anything from him. You looked away again, trying to hide the smile that was creeping onto your lips.
"Will you wear it?" He asked.
Damn his smooth melodic voice, you couldn't say no to him. Plus, you did like the idea.
You looked up at him and Plo could see the mischievous glint in your (e/c) eyes.
"Yes, I will gladly wear it," you accepted.
"Good. I was hoping you would," he said as he took the vibrator from your hand. "Allow me to put it in place for you."
Plo got on his knees and you placed the box on the vanity behind you. You spread your legs a couple steps and pulled the skirt part of your dress up and out of the way. Plo stuck the remote into his belt and then slowly slid your panties down to your thighs.
"Spread your lips for me," Plo requested. You gathered the skirt in one hand and used the other to part your folds, giving Plo a view he never ceased to enjoy.
"You are very wet already, my dear. All from just the prospect of it," Plo said lovingly.
He maneuvered the vibrator into its place, it was wide enough to cover your clit and long enough that it reached back to hover over your entrance. Plo held it in place and you let your folds close around it.
"How does it feel?" He asked.
"Thrilling," you answered.
Plo pulled your panties back around your hips and you let your skirt drop, smoothing it lightly.
"I will see you at the dinner," Plo said before he turned and left.
~~~~
You entered the dining room and took in the many faces that had chosen to look your way. You knew what seat was yours and walked to stand behind it like everyone else. You took note of Plo and where he was standing across the room from you. Master Windu was standing not far to Plo's right while Master Shaak Ti was on the opposite side of the room from Windu. Master Skywalker was opposite Plo, standing behind you. The Chancellor entered the room with Mas Amedda by his side. The Chancellor thanked everyone for attending before introducing everyone. Most of the senators were people you didn't know but there were a few familiar names. You knew Senator Taa from Ryloth and Senator Chuchi from Pantora and you were very familiar with Senator Amidala from Naboo. The Chancellor then introduced you, the Representative of Alderaan.
You were Bail Organa's niece and his representative. Which is how you knew Senator Amidala so well. Currently, Bail was dealing with personal issues at home and asked you to attend in his place.
Everyone took their seats and the Chancellor began talking. The dinner was to discuss how the war was affecting each planet and if there was anything the Senate could do to help. The actual dinner part of the event was to take place after the politics. Though you personally would have liked it the other way around. Sometimes politics left you with a bad taste in your mouth. The Chancellor had requested a few Jedi attend the discussion as well. He wanted their perspective from being on the front lines.
You felt the slight pressure from the vibrator in your sitting position. You glanced over at Plo to see him paying attention to every word. You looked him up and down, hunger spreading through your body. Plo knew you were looking at him and he discreetly pulled the remote from his belt and played with it in his hand. He was teasing you, letting you know he had control over your pleasure.
This will be fun, don't you think, little one. Plo said, the words entering your mind through your force bond with the Kel Dor.
I hope so. You responded.
You drew your attention back to the Chancellor and his speaking, focusing intently. You were shocked out of your focusing when the vibrations started, slow but still effective at sending heat to your core. You shifted in your seat, desperately wanting to grind your hips into the seat of the chair. Plo amped up the vibrations a few notches, taking note of your squirming out of the corner of his eye. You tried to keep a straight face, tried to keep the moans and whimpers from slipping out. You were doing good so far. Plo decided to be bad and cranked the vibrations all the way up. You jumped in your seat and let out a yelp, quickly covering your mouth.
"Representative (l/n), are you alright?" The Chancellor asked.
Oh how you didn't want to speak right now. "Y-y-yes, Chancellor, my apologies. I poked myself on something sharp," you said shakily.
Palpatine continued speaking and the attention was diverted away from you. You were so close, your fingers grasping the arms of the chair so hard your knuckles turned white. You ground your hips into the chair. The friction was delicious and the bolts of pleasure went through your body like lightning. You were so close to the edge, the knot tightening in your lower belly. You closed your eyes and then nothing, the vibrations stopped completely.
You almost slammed your first on the table, instead choosing to dig your nails into your leg. You looked up at Plo and could feel him smirking. You quickly got your breathing back down to normal and regained focus as the senators started speaking about the war.
That was mean. You whined.
I know. But do not worry, you'll get your reward soon enough.
You were listening to the Senator of Malastare when you felt the vibrator going again. It was low, but now you expected Plo to surprise you and you planned on keeping a straight face. You took a sip of wine and, as you put the glass down, you felt the vibrations increase quite a bit. You knew it wasn't the highest setting but the sudden change in pace still got a reaction out of you. You sucked in a breath and held it as the toy rumbled your heat into action again. You composed yourself and slowly released the air you held in, folding your hands over your lap. You looked up at Plo again and sent him a challenging smirk.
I'm getting better at this, you better up your game Master Jedi.
The vibrator increased in speed again and you flinched, once again holding onto the arms of the chair.
Don't push me, young one. I'm just getting started.
His words sent a shiver down your spine and you could feel your arousal dripping onto your thighs. Plo cut the vibrations and waited for the right time.
Seven more Senators spoke and then everyone was looking at you. You cleared your throat and began speaking, some of your words being information Bail had given you, the rest being your own personal experience. You were a couple minutes into speaking, when the vibrator roared to life at the highest setting. You jolted forward in your seat and let out a moan. Your breathing was labored and the pleasure coursing through your body was intense. Your face was probably bright red.
"Are you alright, (Y/n)?" Padme asked as she laid a hand on your arm.
"I-I don't know, I think so," you moaned again, distorting it to make it sound like you were in pain. "It-it must be the wine, doesn't agree with my stomach."
You clutched your stomach and faked the pain as much as you could, still groaning softly and breathing hard. You were getting dangerously close to cumming in front of a dozen Senators and the Chancellor. You started to panic, you were loud when you came and there would be no way you could disguise it as pain. You bit your lip, hard. Seconds away from being pushed over the edge, the feeling stopped. You exhaled and tried to catch your breath. Your clit was left throbbing and your entire womanhood was aching. You quickly composed yourself.
Poor thing, you must be so desperate right now.  Plo teased. You tried to ignore him.
"I think I'm alright, it's passed now. I should continue." You looked up to see everyone staring at you with either: confusion, annoyance, or concern in their eyes.
"Are you sure you'll be alright?" Padme asked.
"Yes, I'll be fine," you confirmed.
Plo let you finish speaking without interruption and you were also able to listen to Padme talk about war times on Naboo.
You glared at Plo and he made eye contact with you. You were just plain angry now, he made you act out in front of your superiors and friends. Granted no one but he and you knew, it still frustrated you.
What's wrong, little one?
I think you kriffing know. You responded.
Now now, dearest. You know better than to use words like that. He scolded, his tone almost mocking.
You scoffed. I believe I have free reign over my speech, thank you.
Behave, Plo said sternly, or I'll make you. I already plan on punishing you, don't make it worse.
You sighed and wiggled in your seat, trying to get comfortable.
With only a couple more Senators left to speak and no interruption from Plo Koon since you spoke, you were thinking you might be in the clear.
Until, of course, the toy began to vibrate again. You couldn't stop the frustrated sigh that escaped, though you covered it up with a small cough. Now your lover was going slow and taking his time to build up your release, going a setting higher every minute. Your core was starting to tingle and heat up as you got aroused for the fourth time in the past two hours. You sat frustrated and turned on, trying to pay attention. You suddenly had an idea, quickly shoving it to the back of your mind so Plo couldn't sense it.
You causally picked up the meat knife from your place setting on the table. You toyed with it for a moment, still paying attention to the Senators. You looked at your reflection on the surface of the metal, checking your makeup for a few seconds. You held the sharp knife between your fingers and absentmindedly played with it. You didn't forget about the amazing sensation between your legs and relished in the mild vibrations while they lasted. Plo once again decided to heat things up and spiked your vibrator up all the way. You jumped and moved your hands too fast, the knife you were holding slicing into one of your fingers. You were able to gasp in pain as the knife clattered to the floor and attention was once again diverted to you.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I went to put my hand on the table and it slipped and the knife fell," you rambled. You held your injured finger with your other hand, biting your lip through the pain.
"Oh my goodness," Padme said, shocked. "Anakin, can you get something for her hand, please."
"No that won't be necessary, I can get it myself," you said, getting up from your chair. "I'm sorry to interrupt again, please continue without me."
You hurried out of the room and down the hall to the refresher. You sucked on your finger to stop the bleeding, moaning half way through as the vibrator was still on high. But your plan worked, you had an excuse to leave and be gone for a decent bit. You put one hand between your legs and ground into it, desperately chasing the release you had been denied so many times. You were almost there when the toy stopped.
"No!" You cried in frustration. You slammed your fist into the wall and growled. That was it, you'd had enough of this vibrator teasing. You reached your good hand into your panties and pulled the toy out, angrily throwing it into the waste bin next to you.
You allowed yourself to come down from the orgasm you nearly had, your breathing finally returning to normal. With your senses coming back you felt something, someone. You heard a sigh and looked towards the door.
Oh no.
Plo was standing in front of the door and had been there for Maker knows how long. He had most definitely seen you throw the toy away in anger.
"You are in real trouble now, my dear."
"Plo please, I can-"
"Not another word, bend over the sink," he ordered.
You wanted so desperately to defy him, to say no, but you also wanted that orgasm so bad that you were willing to submit to him again. You bent over and crossed your arms to lay them on the cool surface of the sink. The short skirt of your dress riding up and giving Plo a good look at your soaked panties. You heard him walk up behind you and saw him in the mirror above the sink.
He put one hand on the back of your thigh and slid it up and over the curve of your ass, pushing the skirt up around your waist. His hand left your skin and then nothing. You rested your head on your arms, not expecting anything. Until Plo's hand connected with your ass in a stinging smack. You lurched forward a little and gripped onto the edge of the sink. His hand came down again in the same spot, sending pulses of pleasure and pain through your body.
"Did you cut your hand just to get out of the situation?" Plo questioned.
"Yes," you answered meekly.
Plo spanked you again, this time on the other cheek. You moaned and grit your teeth. The continued spanking going straight to your core.
"You disposed of my gift because you were angry," Plo observed, spanking your other cheek again. You moaned louder this time and your breathing was speeding up.
"It is not right to get angry, is it?" Plo cupped your pussy and you squeaked. "No," you whimpered, grinding down against his hand. He promptly removed it and yanked your panties down to your knees. You gasped as your wetness was exposed to the cool air.
"Plo, please," you begged, "C-can I.."
"Can you what? Do you want to cum?" He pressed.
You nodded quickly. You glanced up in the mirror to see him take a step back and cross his arms. You felt a pressure on your clit, like someone was touching you. You moaned out at the realization. Plo was using the Force, you always came hard when he did this. The phantom fingers circled and played with your clit while it felt like other fingers were pushing inside you. You were trying to hold back your moans, there were bound to be people in the hallway that might hear. The feeling of the fingers pumping in and out of your pussy erased all possibilities of you staying quiet. You let out loud moans and whines.
"Plo, s-ahhh someone might hear," you said.
"At least it will be a better excuse than yours at the dinner table," he responded. "You are lucky that we have a matter to return to. I'll let you cum, but you'll be punished when we get back home."
The fingers sped up their ministrations and you could feel the knot in your abdomen tightening. "Plo, I'm gonna cum!" You moaned out.
He came up behind you and pulled you to stand, pulling your back into his chest. At the same time he stuck his leg between yours and moved his long robes away. You ground down against his thigh, the friction adding to everything making it impossible to hold on much longer. Plo placed one hand on your neck and the other on your lower belly.
"Cum for me, my darling," he urged.
That was all it took. The knot in your stomach snapped and your orgasm washed over you hard. Plo moved the hand on your neck to cover your mouth. Your body shook and you grabbed onto Plo's arm as your juices spilled onto his trousers. You screamed into his hand and he held you as your body slumped against him. He moved his hand and let you breathe as you came down from the bliss. Plo held you close until you got enough strength to stand on your own.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
You nodded, "Yes, thank you."
He gathered some tissue and wet it slightly before kneeling in front of you and gently cleaning you up. He then pulled your panties back up and smoothed your skirt for you. He also let his robes fall back into place, covering the mark you made on his pants.
"Let me see your hand," he said, holding out his own. You placed your cut hand in his. "I got this for you," he said as he pulled out a small bandage, gently and professionally wrapping up your finger. "Thank you," you said with a smile.
"Take some more time to situate yourself, I'll go tell everyone you are alright and will be rejoining them soon."
You stood on your toes to kiss Plo's forehead. "Thank you, I'll be out there shortly."
"Take your time, I love you," Plo bid.
"I love you too."
We Have A Jedi [5] | Peter Parker x M!Stark Reader
Fandom: Marvel and Star wars
Pairing: Tony Stark x Son!Reader, Peter Parker x M!Stark Reader
Summary: Janai takes (M/N) to finally meet someone. However they are interrupted by a troublesome invasion.
A/N: The Avengers FINALLY arrive! I loved writing this one a lot.
Read from the beginning
Tumblr media
(M/N) watched out the cockpit window as the ship travelled through hyperspace. He was lost in thought, it had been months since his visions started and they’ve repeated countless times. When he spoke to master yoda about it, he was told to be wary of what they meant. Well that was a big help, not. He understood Yoda was wise and he respected the grandmaster tremendously, however he wished he could get a straightforward answer sometimes. He was brought out of his thoughts by his mother’s voice. “We’re here.” The stretched view of space became compact as the ship exited hyperspace. A green planet in front of them. “What planet is this? You never told me where we were going.” He could sense Janai’s tension. “That’s because this is a secret trip. You mustn't tell anyone we came here. This is Terra.” He looked back at the green and blue planet, it reminded him of Alderaan. Hopefully the people weren’t stuck up like the nobles there. “I’ve never been to Terra before.” She didn’t say anything to (M/N) as she brought the ship closer to the planet.
As the ship broke the atmosphere (M/N) saw a large city. It reminded him of Coronet on Corellia. However he noticed there were no ships entering or leaving, where’s the spaceport? Janai continued to pilot the ship into the nearby forest. Setting down the ship she activated the cloaking device so no one would stumble upon it by accident. “Here put these on.” She handed (M/N) some new clothes, they were still armor but more casual for a city setting. Janai got up and went to put on her own disguise. (M/N) opened the door of the ship and walked down the ramp. He had a strange feeling in his gut, it was like the planet was calling out to him. “Everything alright?” He turned and watched Janai walk down the ramp.
“I feel...strange. This whole planet seems familiar to me.” He turned back to the forest and looked past the trees to the city beyond. “It should, You were born here.” (M/N) felt his breath hitch. Born here? “What?” Janai paused. She let out a sigh before looking at him. “I’ve brought you here to finally meet your father. That’s why no one can know.” (M/N) turned back to the city, was his father here?
“You’re father is a man named Anthony Stark. He’s the head of a major company or at least he was the last time I was here. I’ll tell you more about him on our way. Follow Padawan.” she walked past him towards the city. Maybe this would have been the time. It was difficult for him to speak at first. “I...I know how I said I wasn’t ready to try being a family when we first started being together. And the truth is I’m still not sure if I’m completely ready, but...maybe we can try it?” He could see how she smiled a little at that. “Come on, we have a long day.”
They continued through the forest,heading towards the city. Doing so she started telling him about his father. “Your father and I met a long time ago, I was on a mission from the council to go into deep cover here on the planet to see if the empire was planning anything. My investigation turned up negative on the empire, But I found your father.” She had a large, bright smile that (M/N) rarely saw anymore. When she was truly happy.  “We were practically opposites in every way shape and form. We never got married or had a strong relationship-relationship, but we did have a strong connection. We loved each other. You know what the jedi think of attachment, I was very much still in that thinking. Then came you, and our lives changed forever. I decided to stay here, I informed the council that I had a strong connection with the force and felt that something was calling me here and they allowed me to stay. Life was going to be different, Until you started using the force. I knew that by keeping you here, someone else would come along and find you. Perhaps the sith would have, I couldn’t allow that.” She paused in her steps, turned and looked at him. “My first goal was and always will be to protect you and keep you safe. We may both be jedi, but you are my son.”
(M/N) wasn’t sure how to take that. As a jedi he should have told her to put duty before him. But as her son, he was glad that she cared for him so much. “So how did he take it?” She hesitated then sighed. “I...I never told your father. I just told him that I was taking you away and that it was to protect you and him. We haven’t seen each other since.” He only nodded. He wasn’t exactly sure what to say to that. They continued on their way in silence. (M/N) was trying to process everything she told him, while it looked like she was just facing the ghosts of the past.
They eventually made it to the city. It was large and crowded, it felt almost like being back on coruscant but on a much smaller scale. Looking around he only saw humans. “Why are there only humans? I would have thought to have seen a couple of other species.” Janai smirked at him. “Terra or Earth as they call it, is what the republic calls an underdeveloped world. The technology of the planet has not reached extensive space flight or high technology. On this planet you will only see humans and not a single decent comlink.” (M/N) had heard of worlds like this before, but no one was really allowed to go to them. “So where are we headed?” She pointed towards a large tower. “See that tower? The one that says Stark. That’s where we’ll find your father.” Then her face dropped. “At least I think so.” (M/N) turned to look at her. “Well I suppose we better pick up the pa-”
Before he had a chance to keep talking a bright blue beam erupts from the top of the tower and into the sky. The beam opened a hole in the sky and several small ships started to fly out of it.
He returned to look at his mom who looked worried. “Master?” Janai’s face of worry was quickly replaced with her commanding face.. “Chitauri. Everyone get inside! Hurry!” People start panicking as the Chitauri start to fire on the city. Civilians rushing in and out of buildings. (M/N) ignited his lightsaber and started deflecting blaster bolts back onto the enemy. “(M/N) we need to head to the tower! That’s where the beam began!” He nodded. “Understood!”
The two started making their way through the burning streets. Fighting chitauri where they could and protecting civilians when needed. (M/N) wasn’t exactly sure how they were going to stop this without an army. He heard stories where Jedi have been able to stop entire fights with the force, he hoped that’s true.
(M/N) found himself running towards a group of people fighting chitauri. A man with a bow, a woman with two blasters, and a man in one bright red,white and blue suit and it looked like he was throwing a shield? Honestly not the strangest thing he’s seen on a battlefield. Rushing towards them, he jumped on top of a destroyed vehicle and jumped down on top of a chitauri about to strike the man in blue. The man turned and looked at (M/N) with a raised eyebrow. “You’re welcome. Eyes up we have more incoming!”
“Who are you?” The man yelled.
“Names later!”
Using the force, (M/N) grabbed one of the floating platforms the chitauri were riding and pushed it into another. Janai soon caught up, the two now fighting alongside the other three people. Blaster fire rang out all around them, the screams of civilians all around. (M/N) been on many battlefields, but never saw anything like this. These people didn’t have the same technology to put up a good defense, this was just a massacre. The portal roared once again causing everyone to look up.
“Oh no.”
“Leviathans.”
The fighting seemed to drag on forever. They kept defending the spot as long as they could. Janai and (M/N) needed to get to the tower but they couldn’t reach it yet. Eventually the fighting died down a little and the sound of a motor reached his ear. Turning he saw a man arrive on a bike. Suddenly a leviathan bursted through buildings chasing what looked to be a droid. “Doctor Banner this might be a good time to get angry.” The man in blue said to the new arrival, replied back.  “That’s my secret captain...I’m always angry.” (M/N) could practically feel the anger coming from the man, it was strong with him. Suddenly the man’s skin started to turn green as his body grew. It was like he was a whole new being. The flying person flew close enough for the leviathan to hit the ground and start making its way towards us.“It’s still coming in fast, (M/N) help me slow it down!” He and Janai pushed both their hands out, using the force to slow the beast down. “It’s still coming in hot!” The now hulking man roared before running a head a bit then slammed his fist into the leviathan, stopping it. “Incredible.”
The flying man landed down on the ground.  “Alright good work team-” He stopped his talk when he spoted Janai. She looked at him like she was trying to figure out who he was. Was that him? Suddenly the sound of Chitauri roaring pulled them all back into the moment. They were surrounded. Looking up, more chitauri reinforcements arrived...and more leviathans.
“Call it cap.” (M/N) looked at the man, only just realizing his color palette. Gold and red, just like his vision. “Alright, listen up. Until we can close that portal up there, we're gonna use containment. Barton, I want you on that roof, eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash.” Suddenly everyone was in action, the captain tried to give them orders. “You two stay here and help defend this position.” Janai wasn’t having it. “We can help you a lot more if we can get to that portal and close it!” Seeing this won’t go anywhere (M/N) thought back to his training. “Master! I remember from my training at the temple archives. The Chitauri all live off of their mother ship, if we can take it down we can stop all of this!” This seemed to get the captains attention. “How can we do that?” Janai and (M/N) smiled at each other before looking at the captain. “With our ship. (M/N) I’ll get the ship and take out the mothership. You get to that tower and get to the beam, make sure it stays open long enough for me to get back then close it. Understand.” He nodded. “Yes master.” Janai started her way back to the ship. “May the force be with you (M/N) Stark!” He noticed that the captain had looked at him in a strange way, he didn’t question it. He had to get to that tower, his mother was counting on him.
The way to the tower was littered with enemy’s and rubble. It wasn’t anything new to (M/N) but it felt strange with the knowledge he didn’t have the backup of the republic with him. He really did feel like he was alone on an alien world fighting for his life. Maybe it should feel wrong that he had become used to the sound of explosions and blaster fire, but after being on the frontline for so long it just felt normal to him. Just because it felt normal didn’t mean he liked it, he hated seeing the bodies of the fallen on the streets, the innocents caught in the crossfire. This wasn’t even part of the war, there was no imperial threat here. This was what life in the galaxy had been reduced to, endless war.
When he arrived at the tower, he looked up the tall structure. The beam was practically at the very top. He could take the lift’s up but it would take too much time, time the people of the city and his master didn’t have. He heard the sound of familiar engines get closer, he watched as the ship he and Janai arrived in flew up and towards the portal. He had to get to the beam fast. He noticed a group of Chitauri on their flying platforms getting closer, seeing his opportunity he used the force to run up the side of the building and launched himself onto one of the ships. He quickly knocked off the Chitauri and fired on the other two destroying them, before flying to the top of the tower.
As he reached the top of the tower, he jumped off the platform and landed on the deck of the building. He saw the portal and was ready to go for it, however he was stopped by a voice. “I can’t let you do that.” (M/N) turned and saw a man dressed in green and had a staff that glowed blue. This planet just keeps getting stranger. “And why shouldn’t I? He once again ignited his lightsaber and moved into a defensive stance. “A Jedi? I thought the republic didn’t deal with this world?”  So this guy knew about the jedi and republic, maybe there was more to it. “The jedi don’t limit themselves to the republic. We help those in need in the galaxy.” The man only smirked. “Even those in the Empire? I don’t think that’s true.”  “So are you part of the Empire?” He laughed at that. “No, at least not YOUR Empire. That’s why I’m doing this.” He swiped his arms around signaling the destruction. “Out of the destruction I shall build my empire and the people of this world will bow to me.” (M/N) changed his stance to an offensive one. “I won’t let that happen.” Before the man could retort (M/N) launched himself at the man, his blade hitting the man’s staff. The two began to duel each other, the city still under attack around them. (M/N) wasn’t about to let this planet fall to a madman like him. He used the force to push the man back, causing the man to fall into a pillar, knocking him out. “Wow...for someone building an empire you really suck at fighting.” He turned back to the beacon, he needed to be ready to turn that off. Suddenly, he felt the cold again. “Well...if it isn’t my apprentice.”
The Chiss Sith stood beside the man (M/N) had knocked out. “I didn’t expect to see you here. I guess destiny wants us together.” (M/N) wasn’t about to let this man get the upper hand. He rushed the sith aiming to end it quickly. “Oh this again.” The sith lifted his hands and shot out lightning. (M/N) wasn’t quick enough to block and was shocked by the impact of the lightning. “You’re weak. I can sense your anger, it’s stronger than before. You need discipline, training. Join me and all of this.” He nodded to the city. “Can be yours.” (M/N) wasn’t paying attention as Janai’s voice cut through his comlink. “(M/N) I almost have the mothership down, get ready to close the portal once I get back.” He couldn’t fail her, not now. He quickly pulled the other man’s staff to him, the sith jumping out of the way. “I will never join you. I’m a jedi, like my mother before me.” The sith scowled. “So be it.” The sith launched at him and (M/N) was quick to block the attack. The staff in his hand felt weird. It was much like a lightsaber, yet it felt...even more powerful. “I’ll be taking that staff from you.” (M/N) pushed back on the saber. “Not on my watch.” He kicked his opponent back and swung the staff cutting the sith’s arm. The man let out a cry of pain before once again slamming his saber on the staff again. Eventually the sith got the upperhand and knocked the staff out of (M/N)’s hands. “Die!” As the red blades came towards him, he lifted his hands together and called on the force. The saber reached his hands, yet no impact came. He was blocking the lightsaber with his hands. He focused moved one of his hands and called his lightsaber back to him. Once his blade returned he slashed at the sith, who jumped back. “Enough.” The chiss pulled his arms back before pushing them out, sending (M/N) over the side of the building.
He felt the air rushing past him and he fell. The top of the tower getting farther and farther from reach. He failed. The city was still on fire around him, his mother was counting on him and he failed. No. Not yet. He reached out for his saber which was just out of reach pulling it to him. He’d find a way back up, he needed to. It was like the force knew, suddenly he felt arms around him as he was being pushed back up. He looked to see he was being flown back up by the man in the red and gold suit from earlier. “Hang on kid I got you.” Just like how he felt connected to the planet, he also felt the connection with this man. He couldn’t think of that right now, he needed to get back. “I need to get back up there. Can you help me out?” The man looked at him. “You honestly shouldn’t be anywhere near here kid. I should take you somewhere safe.” (M/N) glared at him. “I’ve been on the frontline of countless battles, safety isn’t a concern of mine. GET ME UP THERE!” He couldn’t see the man’s expression in the suit but he felt the concern and conflict in him. “Fine.”
The sith walked over to the staff. He looked at the stone that sat within it. “Finally.” As he reached for it, he was interrupted as (M/N) reappeared with an unknown man. Not wanting to waste time, (M/N) pushed off the man, igniting his saber and attacked the sith. The two once again engaged in battle. This time the man in the suit also helped (M/N) fight the sith. Realizing he was outnumbered he decided to cut his losses. Using the force the chiss grabbed the man in the suit, throwing him at (M/N) knocking the two down. He quickly grabbed the stone from the staff. “Well this has been fun, but I must be off.” He started to walk towards the beacon. (M/N) barely had enough strength to stand. He felt a rush through the force, he watched as the Chitauri around the city all began to shut down, she had done it. “(M/N)! I’m almost through!” He watched as the ship once again passed through the portal. The sith stopped in his tracks taking in the scene, now was his chance. With the force (M/N) pulled the stone out of the sith’s hands. “I told you. NOT.ON.MY.WATCH!” The sith smirked. “The anger glows in you. Not to worry I don’t need that yet. I have this.” He grabbed the cube that was in the beacon. “You’ll be my apprentice eventually.” Suddenly the cube glowed and the sith and the cube disappeared. The portal above the city disappeared without its source. The battle was over. However he couldn’t get the sith out of his head, the battle was over yet the sith escaped with the cube. What was it anyways?
“That could have gone a lot better.” He turned to look at the man in the suit. He was still on the ground but was trying to get up. (M/N) moved over to the man. “Here let me help. Thanks for getting me back up here.” He got the man into a sitting position, while he kneeled down. The man’s mask slid open revealing his face. “No problem kid, you did a good job there. Guess you’re a fighter huh?” He smirked at the man. “Yeah, have been for the last two years.” The man looked at him with a smirk. “What's your name kid?” (M/N) realized he hadn’t gotten a chance to introduce himself to anyone. “Oh sorry. (M/N). (M/N) Stark.” He lifted his hand out for the man to shake. The man looked at him with a shocked face. It also seemed like he had tears in his eyes. “(M/N)? Huh look at you. You’re so big.” (M/N) looked at the man in confusion. “Excuse me?” The man laughed and shook his head. “My name is Tony. Tony Stark, I’m your dad.”
Chapter Twenty-One
Pairing: Din Djarin x OFC (Aili Verdella) Warnings: cursing, talk of torture, blood, injury Word Count: 4.3k Also on AO3
Masterlist//Main Masterlist
Summary: They're stuck in a cantina, Kuiil isn't answering the comlink,  they don't know if Little Green is even safe and there's a Moff with a whole squadron of Troopers with their blasters pointing at them. How the hell are they going to make it out of this one?
Note: Sorry for posting so late, I lost two hours of working on this running around trying to get a Covid test (which I’m hoping I’m just over-reacting about my allergies)
Tumblr media
“Is there another way out?” Cara asked after finally getting tired of the standoff that they were stuck in. After the man had finished speaking he proceeded to just stand there. Waiting. Presumably for whichever troopers he had sent after the kid to get back either empty handed or with his prize.
Aili was stupidly holding onto a small amount of hope that Kuiil had dropped his comlink and was waiting on the Crest. She knew he wasn't though. But keeping that small bit of hope was the only thing stopping her from taking the risk of outright attacking the Imps holding them hostage. That and their lack of decent weapons. She could only do so much against an entire squadron of Storm Troopers and a team of Death Troopers under the command of a Moff.
“No, that’s it,” Karga said, pointing out the open window with his blaster.
Aili paused for half a second, tilting her head to the side and wondering how she could be so stupid to forget, before she tapped on Mando’s chest piece to get his attention. When he glanced down at her she pointed to the ground with her blaster. She hoped he got her meaning because it was technically his secret to tell if Karga didn’t already know about it.
His helmet cocked to the side before he looked over at where Karga was. “What about the sewers?”
“Sewers?” Karga questioned, wondering why Mando would want to know about the sewers of all things at the moment.
“The Mandalorians have a Covert down in the sewers. If we can get down there, they can help us escape,” Mando explained as quickly as he could. He couldn’t believe he hadn’t thought of it before now and he wasn’t going to dwell on the fact that it had taken Aili to remind him.
“Not only that but if we can get down there that means access to a ship if we can’t get to the Crest by foot,” Aili added. She was weighing all of their options now. If they got down to the Covert, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to leave any of the girls behind this time. Not with a Moff breathing down their necks.
In fact she knew that if they went down there, everyone would have to leave or fight. No matter what there would be losses, she just hoped it would be more troopers than Mandalorians. If anyone hated the Empire more than she did, it was Mandalorians.
From across the way, Cara nodded her head in agreement, “I like that plan, sewers and another ship are good.”
“Checking for access points,” Mando said, bringing up his arm to set his t-visor to scan the building they were stuck in. Logically there had to be an access point somewhere in a cantina but even Aili knew that Nevarro was weird. She had long since given up on trying to understand how anything was set up in town.
“What the hell are they even waiting for?” Cara questioned, checking back out the window once more to see if anyone had so much as moved a foot out of place. Not that she wanted them to attack now that they had an almost way out but she was surprised that they hadn’t taken them out yet.
Aili leaned around Mando, keeping out of his line of sight (not that it was hard to do since she was so much shorter than him) and watched as several troopers came back carrying parts of a weapon. “Oh fuck me,” she said, louder than she meant to as she turned back around.
“I’ll second that because they’re setting up an E-Web,” Cara said, letting the back of her head lightly hit the wall she was hiding behind. They were really screwed now if Mando couldn’t find a way into the sewers.
“It’s over,” Karga said bluntly.
Mando ignored them all as best as he could, still scanning the room for a way out. He barely stopped himself from releasing an audible sigh of relief when he finally found one. “I found a vent.”
“Let’s get the hell out of here,” Cara said, relief in her voice for the first time but it was still clouded by tension.
“I don’t want to be here when they get that thing put together,” Aili added.
Mando and Cara were quick to run to the back of the room, tossing aside the chairs that were covering the vent. Aili kept looking back at them before checking the progress on the E-Web set up. They were quickly running out of time. What storm troopers lacked in aiming, they apparently made up for in setting up guns.
“Not to rush you two but…” Aili trailed off,
“It’s assembled! How long is that going to take you?” Karga finished what Aili was saying.
“Blow it,” Cara said, stepping back to give Mando room.
“I’m out of charges,” Mando replied, wincing from behind his helmet knowing that wasn’t the answer anyone was going to want to hear. Least of all...
Aili spun around to glare at the back of Mando’s helmet. “What do you mean you’re out of charges?” She couldn’t believe he would even be stupid enough to walk into an obvious trap without every weapon he always had on him. She knew she didn’t bring much either but she wasn’t the one who was usually a walking armory.
Cara picked up the blaster rifle she had taken from the weapons locker, “Move out of the way!”
That was the only warning she gave Mando before she started shooting at the vent in an attempt to get it open. Aili winced at the sound knowing that they’d be able to hear it from outside.
“Your astute panic suggests that you understand your situation. I would prefer to avoid any further violence and encourage a moment of consideration,” the Moff spoke again as soon as Cara stopped shooting. Her attempt to kick the vent in was unsuccessful as it didn’t even move an inch.
“Members of my escort have completed assembly of an E-Web heavy repeating blaster. If you are unfamiliar with this weapon,” He paused for half a second before continuing, his tone somehow more smug than it already was. “I am sure that Republican Shock Trooper Carasynthia Dune of Alderaan will advise you that she has witnessed many of her ranks vaporized mid-descent facing the predecessor of this particular model.”
Cara turned at the sound of her full name, eyes narrowed as she wondered how this man that she had never met before knew exactly who she was.
“Maybe Aili Verdella, formerly AL-1284, Dragon Leader of the Krayt Dragon Program recalls using weapons of this sort on multiple planets against innumerable Rebels and Rebel sympathizers. The New Republic would be very interested in knowing your current location but I think you know where you really belong.”
“That’s not gonna happen any time soon.” AIli muttered to herself and although she would deny it if anyone asked, her heart was beating a little faster. From anger or fright, she wasn’t sure at the moment. She had expected Imps but she hadn’t expected a Moff. This was more than any of them had bargained for.
But now she was even more determined to keep Little Green out of the Empire's grasp. Nothing a Moff could want with him could be good and she'd rather die than let them have another child. He could bring up as much of her past as he wanted but if he thought that was going to shake her, he was sorely mistaken. He was just making her more pissed off.
“Or perhaps the decommissioned Mandalorian hunter, Din Djarin, has heard the songs of the Siege of Mandalore, when gunships fitted with similar ordnance laid waste to fields of Mandalorian recruits in The Night of a Thousand Tears.”
Mando had turned to stare out the window when he heard his name, a name that no one should know, spoken for the first time since he had taken the Creed. He was beginning to understand who they were up against and it was worse than he thought. He avoided looking towards where Aili was, unsure what he would see on her face. He missed the way the hard look in her eyes softened for a moment before she turned back around to glare out the window.
“I advise disgraced Magistrate Greef Karga to search the wisdom of his years and urge you to lay down your arms and come outside. The structure you are trapped in will be razed in short order and your storied lives will come to an unceremonious end.”
“Does this guy actually hear himself speak?” Aili questioned, not expecting an answer from anyone. She figured that if she was still a little taken aback by this man knowing her old designation in the Program, Mando and Cara were probably a little more than shaken up. Mando more than Cara. She was angry on his behalf, because now everyone knew his name and he hadn’t even freely given it.
“What do you propose?” Karga shouted out.
“Reasonable negotiation.”
Even the way he said that almost made a chill run down Aili’s spine. She didn’t want to find out how negotiations would go with the Moff. If only because she already knew the answer and she didn’t like it.
“What assurance do you offer?” Karga tried again to get a decent answer.
“If you’re asking if you can trust me, you cannot. Just as you betrayed our business arrangement, I would gladly break any promise and watch you die at my hand.” The Moff said and finally for the first time, they could hear the sadistic nature in his voice. The one that every high-ranking officer in the Empire had.
“The assurance I give is this: I will act in my own self-interest which at this time involves your cooperation and benefit. I will give you until nightfall and then I will have the E-Web cannon open fire.” And then he turned around and walked away with the Death Troopers following behind him. The rest of the Storm Troopers stayed exactly where they were, including the ones waiting to man the E-Web.
“I say we hear him out,” Karga said as he turned to look at Mando and Cara who were still standing in by the vent.
“Are you crazy or just stupid?” Aili asked before she could stop herself. She had heard a lot of stupid things from people recently but this one was the dumbest. Negotiating with a Moff? That would never go their way even if he made it seem like it would.
“The minute we open that door, we’re dead,” Cara added knowing that negotiations weren’t even really an option. She moved from where she was standing, keeping her head low just in case any of the troopers outside decided to be dumb and shoot at them.
“We’re dead if we don’t. At least out there we’ve got a shot,” Karga tried to argue, not knowing that everyone else had already made up their minds.
“That’s easy for you to say. I’m a Rebel Shock Trooper, they’ll upload me to a mind flayer,’ Cara argued, kneeling down beside one of the dead troopers and stripping him of his weapons before moving on to the next one. It wasn’t much but it was more than they had come in with.
“Those aren’t real, just wartime propaganda,” Karga dismissed her worry easily. He had heard all of the propaganda during the war, none had any actual proof behind them.
“No, those are very real,” Aili stated as she skirted around the wall to join the rest of them. Not that being further back would do much to protect her if and when they started to operate the E-Web. Nothing would help once that happened.
“That’s not helping,” Cara stated, giving Aili a heated look.
“Sorry, I didn’t realize that I needed to comfort anyone right now,” Aili snapped. “But none of you betrayed the Empire and stole so-called property from them. Sure, Mando broke an agreement with this guy, but I took out a whole base and ran off millions of credits worth of assets.
“I already know how these negotiations will go, he’s going to want the kid and me if only so they can fully punish me and then after they break me, they’ll have me kill for them again.”
She couldn’t go back there again. They’d make sure that she couldn’t get away this time, give her a shock collar and then probably set an interrogation droid on her. Not even to get information, just to torture her until she broke and then they would really get down to business.
And if the interrogation droid didn’t work, they’d just keep trying every method in the book until they got what they wanted. Their Dragon Leader back and answering only to them. They’d make her hunt down anyone they wanted, probably make her bring back all the girls she helped escape first. That way they’d have a whole team to work with again.
“That’s not going to happen,” Mando said shortly, his jaw clenched behind his helmet. He wouldn’t let negotiations end that way, not if he could help it.
“Well then unless we can come up with some brilliant escape plan,” Aili said, throwing her arms out to the side. She didn’t see one and she didn’t like that. Didn’t like that she could only see one outcome unless they could get into the sewers without drawing attention. And before nightfall which wouldn’t take very much longer to come.
“I’m shooting my way out of here,” Cara stated as if it would be as easy as that.
“That'll go over well. This isn’t like Sorgan or even like the war,” Aili tried to reason with Cara. She understood the need to get out of there as quickly as possible, but shooting their way out didn’t seem possible at the moment. All of the thoughts running through her head weren’t helping her come up with a plan though.
“What about you, Mando?” Karga turned to look at the only person who hadn’t said much about their predicament.
“I know who he is.”
Aili let out a scoff, louder than she intentioned. “Yeah, a Moff, I think we should all know that much just from uniform alone.”
“It’s Moff Gideon.” Mando stated without any lead in.
That caught Aili’s attention as she looked at Mando with confusion. Sure, she had known it was a Moff they were facing but she hadn’t known his name. Every “division” of the Empire had been kept away from each other, that way if one was taken down there were several more to fall back on and keep the Empire going.
“No, Moff Gideon was executed for war crimes.” It was Cara’s turn to look at Mando like he had lost his mind. She didn’t know much but she knew Moff Gideon’s fate after the war had ended. Every Rebel did.
“It’s him. He knew my name,” Mando said, knowing that wouldn’t make it any clearer for anybody. Except maybe Aili who knew that he was a foundling just like the four foundlings she sponsored.
“So? What does that prove?” Karga questioned.
“I haven’t heard that name spoken since I was a child.”
“On Mandalore?”
“I was not born on Mandalore,” Mando replied, shaking his helmet barely enough for anyone to notice.
“But you’re a Mandalorian,” Karga said, confusion on his face and in his voice.
“Mandalorians aren’t all from Mandalore. It’s not a race,” Aili stated, thinking of the four girls that she had brought to the Armorer and of the little Mando had revealed back on Sorgan when Omera had asked about the helmet.
“It’s a Creed.” Mando said, thinking back to the day he had lost everything but gained everything at the same time. It wasn’t a day he particularly liked to think about. “I was a foundling. They raised me in the Fighting Corps. I was treated as one of their own and when I came of age, I was sworn to the Creed.
“The only record of my family name was in the registers of Mandalore. Moff Gideon was an ISB officer during the Purge. That’s how I know it’s him.”
“That’s how he knows who we all are,” Cara added.
“He says he needs us which means L...the Child got away safely. I was worried when Kuiil didn’t respond but if they’d captured the kid, we’d already be dead.” Even though his words said he had hope that Kuiil had made it to the Crest, Aili could hear the way his voice sounded almost...empty. Like he didn’t actually believe the words coming out of his own mouth.
“Not necessarily,” Aili said slowly. “I know how the Empire works, remember? As much as I don’t want to even say it, he could be waiting until he has the kid physically in his hands. And once he does, he’ll kill us.”
“Once again, not helping. Hail them again,” Cara said as she walked past Aili and Mando to take over the spot where they had previously been taking cover.
Mando raised the comlink, hoping that he was right and Aili was wrong for once. “Come in Kuiil. Kuiil? Nothing.”
“They might have jammed the link,” Cara said, desperate for something to go their way.
Aili was about to say something when the comlink suddenly beeped and they could all hear Little Green cooing over it. But it also didn’t sound like he was on the Crest, the sound of a speeder bike beneath the coos.
“Kuiil has been terminated,” IG-11 said from over the comlink and Aili looked up at Mando. She actually didn’t know what to think at the moment. But she knew Mando wouldn’t like that answer.
“What did you do?” Mando ground out, fist tight around the comlink. He knew that he should’ve fought Kuiil harder against bringing the droid.
“I am fulfilling my base function,” IG-11 replied in short manner.
“Which is?” Mando questioned, voice still as tense as his shoulders were now.
“To nurse and protect.”
“What the kriff is that thing talking about?” Aili asked, looking straight into Mando’s t-visor when he finally looked at her. He shook his helmet at the same time as shrugging his shoulders. He had no idea what exactly Kuiil had done when reprogramming the droid.
Then the sound of blasters going off sounded, including the sound of ones attached to speeder bikes. Everyone looked around at each other in confusion before Cara peeked around the corner of the wall to see all of the troopers outside turn to face where the attack was coming from. There were several explosions further away from them but no one could tell where they were coming from.
“Look!” Cara’s exclamation brought everyone’s attention to the window again. Mando and Aili quickly joined Cara while Karga took another shot of alcohol before joining them. Every trooper had now turned to face the incoming threat.
“Is that…” Aili didn’t even get to finish her question when IG-11 jumped off the speeder bike, letting it crash into several troopers before it crashed and caused an explosion. Cara ducked down while Mando took cover behind the wall again, reaching out to pull Aili behind cover as well when she didn’t move.
“Cover me.” Mando looked down at Aili before he made a move towards the door. Aili didn’t let him get very far, her grip on his arm tight.
Aili looked up at Mando with a hard stare. “I’m going with you.”
“Aili, for once can you listen to me?” They didn’t have time to argue about this and yet here they were.
“We agreed nothing would change,” Aili glared up at Mando. She knew that if she hadn’t let things change between them, he wouldn’t be second guessing her joining him out in the fight. He hadn’t cared when they were on Sorgan, or Tatooine, or even the prison job. But now suddenly she was delegated to cover fire for him?
“Aili, please.” Mando said shortly, ignoring the looks they were getting from Cara and Karga.
Aili stared up at Mando with anger in her eyes and a growing feeling of wanting to smack him upside the head. But they didn’t really have the time to argue. “Fine,” she ground out, teeth clenched. “But we’re gonna have words when this is over.”
Cara hopped on top of the bar and started up her repeating blaster, taking out a good amount of troopers nearby. Mando made his way out the door, taking out the troopers stationed right outside easily while Aili and Karga gave him cover fire from that end. Aili didn’t mean to flinch when one of the Death Troopers shot at Mando but the blast reflected off his beskar easily even from up close.
He shot one before another grabbed him and threw him to the ground but before the trooper could shoot him, he kicked up and Aili shot him down in the time it took Mando to get back up. From there it was easier, taking out Storm Troopers until they all saw IG-11 get shot in the legs and hit the ground, protecting the Child with its body.
“Mando!” Aili shouted over the sound of blasters going off everywhere including her own. He turned to look at her. “The E-Web!”
He was right by it and all the troopers were too far away to get to it before him. He wasted no time in picking up the canon and taking out the troopers around them. That gave IG-11 the chance to stand back up and move towards the open cantina door where Karga and Aili were. Everything was going too smoothly and that was when there was a blast from the entrance of the cantina where Cara was.
“Fuck,” Aili hissed out, unable to hear the sound of Cara’s rifle anymore. She was about to yell for Karga to head back inside when she heard it start up again, taking out any troopers that had made it in. By the time she looked back over towards Mando, she saw Moff Gideon raise a blaster up and without thinking she shot out at him. She hit him on the shoulder so his own shot didn’t meet its target.
Mando still let out a surprised shout at the blaster shot hitting him from behind, bending over a little and losing his grip on the E-Web for a moment. He shook it off, picking up the canon and turning to face Moff Gideon. Before either he or Aili could even attempt to take a shot at him, he shot the box of ammunition causing an explosion bigger than the one from the speeder bike. Karga turned away from it, hitting the cantina wall while Aili took cover back inside the cantina.
When the fire died down, she felt her heart stop for a moment when she saw Mando laying on the ground. He wasn’t even attempting to get back up. Karga started giving cover fire again for IG-11 who kept moving towards the cantina as best as it could. A quick glance into the cantina and Aili could see Cara moving towards the back.
“Cara!” Aili shouted out for the other woman to move as fast as she could. With a quick glance towards Karga who gave her a nod, she ran out and met Cara beside Mando. Aili nodded for Cara to pick up Mando while she gave her close cover fire as they walked as fast as they could back to the cantina. IG-11 and Karga picked up the slack when Aili stopped to help Cara drag Mando into the cantina.
As soon as Karga and IG-11 were inside the door shut behind them, cutting off Moff Gideon and his troopers. Aili and Cara laid Mando against one of the chairs that they had upturned earlier. Aili turned to Cara, “I got this, go keep watch.”
“Are you sure?”
“Not really but I can handle it.”
“This is our only path out,” Karga said to IG-11. “Can you clear it?”
The droid walked over to the vent and placed the Child down before looking down at Karga. “If you go near this child, I will have no choice but to kill you.”
“I understand, can you do anything to move the grate,” Karga replied, still keeping a lookout for any troopers. Cara joined him although she kept looking over to where Mando and Aili were every couple of seconds.
“Yes, of course,” IG-11 said in reply to Karga’s rushed question. He sounded annoyingly calm in the way only a droid could be in this situation. He started cutting through the vent easily.
Aili looked over Mando for any obvious wounds but didn’t see any which meant he was either bruised to hell and back beneath the armor or the beskar was hiding all of it. She looked down at him as calmly as she could, “I’m just going to check the back of your head, no removing the helmet, promise.”
She didn’t wait for his response before she did as she said, her eyes going wide the second she felt exactly what she didn’t want to feel. “Oh shit,” Aili muttered, pulling her hand away from the back of Mando’s helmet. It was covered in blood, more than it should be which meant a severe head wound. This was obviously worse than a simple concussion. Much worse.
“It’s fine.” Mando said, looking up at Aili from behind his helmet. He was impressed by the way she was almost calmly going through the med bag she had brought.
“No it’s not,” she said, her eyes wide as all of her senses went into overdrive. She tried to take a breath, tried to recall all of her field medical training. Head wounds had levels though and after a certain point they had been taught to cut their losses, mercy kill if necessary. But that wasn't going to happen here. Wasn’t even an option.
She just had to figure out a way to help him.
I found your absolutely delightful little fic about Jango fighting Obi-Wan in the rain and finding him absolutely adorable. Jango was not prepared and I'm now happily picturing another encounter between them. I've got it stuck in my head that Jango keeps running into him in the rain and being reminded of the first time.
[1] [2]
Oh you little devil you, making me think about Jango/Kenobi again after all this time. Oh dear. I just can’t seem to help myself…
.
Jango could have written it off as a stroke of bad luck—definitelybad, he insisted, bad bad, not good at all—when he cameacross the Jedi again on Alderaan during a thunderstorm. A littlereminder of their first meeting on Kamino; the universe giving itsversion of a nod to the event. Nothing else.
Except the Jedi stilllooked fucking adorable with sopping wet robes, even with that damnedlightsabre he’d been using to expertly block every blast from thelittle band of smugglers the Jedi had stumbled across. The samelittle band of smugglers, Jango had been trying to do business with.
Just his damned luck.
Still, it was somethingelse, to see Kenobi fighting and not being his target.Jango couldappreciate the skill and experience Kenobi obviously had;the Jedi hadn’t used his lightsabre initially so Jango got towitness some pretty quick hand-to-hand moves by the Jedi.
Some of them had almostbeen Mandalorian.
Maybe that was why Jangohadn’t left when he had the chance.
Seeing someone performMandalorian combat moves… it was a reminder to him of his heritage.Even if it was a Jedi using them to fight off a pretty heftily-builtsmuggler with spice-addled bloodlust augmenting their alreadysignificant strength.
The problem with hangingaround to watch someone fight was that they eventually noticed you;Jango hadn’t really wanted to not be noticed in the end, though.That was why he ended up facing Kenobi, in the rain, and throwing acasual comment about the Jedi’s hand-to-hand skills.
“I had some time topractice Mandalorian combat,” Kenobi said and Jango had no idea howor when the Jedi would have had the cha- wait no, the Duchessof course.
“Whenhiding in ditches,” Jango mocked the Jedi who did the mostirritating thing the bastard could have done. He shrugged.
“Isuppose I could have complained about the weather.” The Jedi lookedat the sky for a brief moment—long enough, actually, that Jango hadthe opportunity to fire his blaster at him—before he looked back atJango. “Though, this is rather enjoyable if I’m honest.”
Jangosnorted. “Looking like a drowned kitten?” He tilted his head. “Iexpected Jedi to be more refined.”
“Oh,I’m plenty refined, thank you very much,” Kenobi said, smirking.Damn but that smirk caught Jango’s attention far too easily. “ButI’ve come to appreciate being an absolute mess.”
Jangoblinked. That sounded…
Oneof the smugglers, Kenobi had knocked out, chose that moment tothankfully interupt,giving Jango the chance to escape both the Jedi and the conversation.
Conversationis beskar; Kenobi was fucking flirting.
“Are you happy now, Dameron?!” You shouted, looking at the flaming rubble of the ship.
“How is this my fault?” He threw his hands in the air.
“You HAD to try your fancy flying tricks.”
“We had FOUR TIEs on our tail, what would you like me to do?!”
“You’re insufferable!”
“You’re ungrateful, we’d be dead right now if it wasn’t for me.”
“OH PLEASE.” You rolled your eyes. Poe grunted, looking around for things to fix the ship, while you tried to hotwire the comm units to send out a beacon. Night came fast, and luckily for you, there was an abandoned farmhouse nearby. It looked as if it’s owners had deserted once the First Order set up a base on the moons orbiting this unfortunate planet.
“This will have to do.” Poe only nodded in agreement, and set down the bags of supplies from the ships. You cleared the house, and eventually settled in what looks like a sitting room. You sat on opposite ends of a couch that seemed untouched by the rest of the dust that settled on the house. You two ate MRE’s in silence. But in true Poe fashion, he broke the silence first.“Who do you think lived here?” He asked, looking around. You were a spy, a damn good one at that, and you had gotten used to using people’s things as clues into their lives.
  “Well by the amount of land out back, probably a farmer, no idea what.” You shrugged. “It was a male farmer though, presumably human by the size and shape of those gloves.” You gestured to the gloves on the small end table, Poe handed them to you, and you examined the left one. “He was married, there’s wear marks for a ring.” You got up and wandered around the room, all personal things like pictures and keepsakes were gone, but there was enough to piece together a life. “They had a young baby.” You picked up small socks, and a bottle that were left on a shelf. Poe watched in awe as you pieced together a life from the smallest of details.
“You’re pretty good at this.” He smiled.
“I have to be, bad storytellers in this profession get killed.” You shrugged.
“So what’s your story, actually?” He put his feet up on a small footrest and leaned back. You could only laugh. Only Poe could be stuck on a deserted planet with no reinforcements and make himself comfortable.
“My parents were some dignitaries from Alderaan, they were off world when it exploded.” You had always wondered about how different your life would be if the Empire haven’t blown your homeworld into ash and stardust. “They were childhood friends of the General. They did their best to protect me, but eventually, at 16, we were separated. From then on I had to lie, scam, and cheat my way to survive. Alderaan’s survivors wanted to form a New Alderaan on some planet, they wanted my parents to lead them, but they couldn’t find any trace of them. I think the First Order took them out, I’ll never know.” You shrugged.
“Commander of the Resistance’s covert forces…” Poe snickered. “And Princess of Alderaan.” He laughed, and you threw the farmers glove at him.
“Oh can it!” You laughed
“Whatever you say, Princess.” You wanted to correct the incorrectness of the nickname, but it sounded so sweet from his lips, your stomach did flips just thinking about it. Before you could even retort, there was a knock at the door. You both froze.
Glancing out the window, you saw it was First Order patrols. “So much for a scrambled beacon.” You mumbled, you grabbed Poe’s hand, and dragged him to the door. “Act like you love me. And follow my lead.” Poe furrowed his brows and before he could think about it, you swung open the door to meet the visors of stormtroopers.
“Hello!” You greeted cheerfully. “Is there anything I can do for you, Gentlemen?” You had taken on a different pattern of speech, and Poe wrapped his arm around your waist and pressed a kiss to your cheek. “Oh please, honey, we have guests. Sorry, my husband can get a little handsy. We were just in the middle of a very heated..”
“No need for details ma’am.” The trooper held up a gloved hand. “We were wondering if you knew anything about the ship crashed about a mile from here.”
“Oh no, I did hear a very large crash though, I hope whoever was flying it is alright.” You smiled, and interlaced your hand in Poe’s free hand, clutching it, as if you were sick with worry.
“Would you mind if we searched your home?” Your stomach dropped.
“No matter at all.” You gestured them inside, and as soon as they passed, you pressed a very deep kiss to Poe’s lips. The lead trooper turned around to look at you two for guidance. He cleared his throat and waited for you to separate. “So sorry, like I said, very handsy.”
  “There’s a closed door at the end of the hall, we can’t get it open and need your help.” He said grimly, all your supplies were in there, it would blow your cover in a heartbeat.
“Oh, I suppose.” You said, and began to walk down the hall. “You will be quiet though, and leave the light off will you?” The trooper tilted his head. “We welcomed a baby boy last month and I just got him to sleep.” They stood, staring at you, you had your hands folded, to hide the fact they were shaking.
“That’s alright ma’am.” He went to turn around. “I’ll escort my squad out.”
“Oh thank you all.” You smiled genuinely. “Have a safe evening gentlemen.” You latched the door behind them, and let out a huge sigh of relief. Poe was leaned up against a wall.
“That was a risk.” He said, he almost looked like he was frowning.
“Yes it was, but it paid off.” You giggled. “Husband.” You imitate your voice from before. Poe only half laughed, and you couldn’t understand why, until he walked over to you and shoved you against the latched door, and pressed his lips against yours. You kissed him back eagerly. You always had a thing for him, but you were committed to the resistance, you weren’t there to have a boyfriend. He tugged at your blouse and you let him pull it over your head. You two didn’t speak in words all night.
-
The next morning, you were half expecting things to go back to normal. You woke up, head buried in his chest, legs tangled in each others embrace. He was sleeping soundly, and you just laid there, watching the sun peak through the blinders.
Eventually, you had to figure out a way of getting a hold of the general. You untangled yourself slowly, and grabbed your bag, making for the kitchen. You started to pull anything with wires apart to rig your comm unit to encrypt for real this time. You were so engrossed in your project that you didn’t even hear Poe come in. He came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist and pressed a kiss to your cheek.
“Mornin’ Princess.” He mumbled.
“Morning Poe.” You smiled, and turned around to face him. He had put his trousers on but not his shirt, and you knew that wasn’t an accident.
“What are you working on?” He asked.
“Comm unit.” You shrugged. “Gotta get a message for someone to come get us.” You picked it up. “I’ve almost got it.” Poe took it from your hands.
“How about we send the message later?” He smirked. “I kinda liked last night.”
“As much as I would love to stay and have crazy amounts of sex all day, we have jobs Poe.” You shake your head and reached for the comm, and he held it out of your reach.
  “Who said anything about sex?” He stared you down. “I meant I liked us, just being together, pretending we had a life outside of this war.” You blinked. “Okay and yes the sex was great too but outside of that.” You laughed.
“Fine. But we send that message tonight.” You rolled your eyes and he came in closer, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
“Thank you, wife.” He winked and you rolled your eyes again.
“Anytime, husband.” You laughed, and so did he.
-
  Back on base, you got back to training a group of rookies who had chosen Covert Ops as their specialty. You were currently in the middle of sparring with a tall, fairly muscular man. You lesson for today was about overpowering your odds. You moved through your opponent, and he handed on his flat back on the ground, knocking the wind out of him.
You look up to see Poe, head to toe in orange, he had mentioned earlier that he had a training flight. You offered your trainee your hand, and helped him up. “Everyone go get something to eat, and rest, we’ll meet back here in an hour.” You weren’t even looking at your class, you were lost in a pair of brown eyes. “You’re dismissed.” You walked over to Poe.
“It was pretty impressive to watch ya know. I could’ve waited.” He was smirking. You wanted to punch him and make out with him all at once.
“What do you want, Dameron?” You tried to maintain your professionalism, you were aware that your students were still listening.
“General needs us in Command.” He smiled, and handed you a holopad.
“Another one?” You grumbled. “Where to this time?”
  “Canto Bight, we need to pose as some rich couple to extract some information from some people at the casino.” He winked. “We leave tomorrow morning, wife.” And with that, you turned around to walk to command for the official briefing. You watched as your training classes jaws hit the ground.
“Poe Dameron you did not!” You laughed and ran after him, only half mad.
Rumors floated around on base that you two were secretly married on that planet. They were ridiculous, and you told people that you didn’t pay them any mind because you knew the truth, but if you were honest, you just liked the warm feeling you got in your gut when people referred to Poe as yours.
Even if you got an occasional pointed glance from a new recruit or two.
“I’m the best damn pilot in the galaxy” “I think you missed putting the word ‘second’ in there somewhere”
-----
Poe Dameron drove your mother absolutely nuts. And she put up with your father for a good portion of her life and dealt with you and Ben nearly killing each other as kids, so if Poe was driving her more nuts than all of that, he was either really talented in a way or just really stupid. You still lived with your mother on base (What can you say? You two were nearly attached at the hip now) and often she would come in after you, cursing him out as she walked through the door. You didn’t have as many interactions with Poe as she did, but from what she said you were thankful sometimes. He was a completely different person with you, still pushy and determined to do the right thing but less… annoying. You couldn’t understand it, but you just assumed it was because he probably was more comfortable with Leia.
You weren’t always with the Resistance. After your brother went off to the Jedi temple to train with your Uncle Luke formally, you went off with your father and Uncle Chewie for a very long time while your mother got things started with the New Republic and also the Resistance, since the First Order was now rising.
“Believe it or not, you’re probably better off with your father and Chewbacca right now. We can holo every night if you want to, sweetheart.” she told you as you clung to her before boarding the Millennium Falcon with your father. You were a teenager at the time, maybe about 16 or 17. You stayed with him until you were 23, a few years after the destruction of Uncle Luke’s Jedi Temple and your brothers turn to the Dark Side. You could have gone back to your mother at any time you wanted, but you enjoyed being around your dad and Chewbacca, and it actually helped you learn a great deal about the galaxy and surviving. It also made you a pretty decent pilot.
Once you were back with your mother, you began to climb the ranks. You wanted to do it properly - not just get to the top because you are the daughter of General Organa. When you got back to the Resistance, Poe Dameron was already a Commander with his own squadron of pilots and you were just a measly Lieutenant who stuck to the General’s side like glue, earning her place among the ranks.
Now, 5 or so years later, you were General Solo of the Resistance alongside your mother. You were respected almost as much as she was, having learned everything from her. At first, you sensed Poe was maybe a bit jealous that he wasn’t picked. He did work equally hard after all and was around longer. He avoided your gaze for a long time after that, but when he caught you quietly sobbing in the corner of the quiet Command Center after the death of Han, he came to comfort you in an instant. After that he was nicer to you. It was that moment where you started to develop some feelings for the man, despite him being how he was. Something changed for you that day, and you weren’t sure what, but you didn’t dislike it.
As much as you just thought he was being nice to you, your mother Leia saw right through him. He had been giving you heart eyes since he first laid eyes on you when you were 23, tangled hair, scruffy smuggler-looking clothes with Wookie hair attached and all. His eyes followed you when you walked into a room and everywhere else you went within it. Poe Dameron was absolutely smitten with you, but he didn’t have enough balls to tell you.
Either that, or he was scared of Leia. She assumed it was a bit of both.
Leia was determined one way or another to get Poe to admit his feelings, or have you both just fall for each other naturally. She knew that Poe would be good for you, because although stupid he was good at heart (and she knew you’d be able to put up with stupid, having Ben as an older brother and Han as your father). Leia also knew that you would be good for him, giving him something to come back to and something to live for. She just needed to figure out how.
“Mom? You okay?” you asked her upon seeing her dozing off, mind elsewhere. You saw her snap back to reality, smiling up at you.
“I’m fine, thank you honey. Just thinking.” she said to you, standing up slowly and looking around the make-shift Command Center that’s been made on the jungle planet of Ajan Kloss. “Have you seen Commander Dameron?”
“Not recently. Last I saw he was working on his X-Wing with the rest of the Black Squadron. I was just about to go help Uncle Chewie with some repairs on the Falcon, I can go find him for you first though if you want.” you replied to her, as she was walking out of the room and into the jungle.
“I swear, he needs to get his head out of his cockpit. He’s always working on that damn X-Wing.” she mumbled as she made way to the X-Wings. You laughed at her as you walked. “You can go help Chewie on the Falcon, I’ll go find Dameron. I have to speak with him on something.” she said to you, leaving you behind as she walked off. Narrowing your eyes at your mother walking away, you backed up and made way to the Falcon.
Meanwhile, Poe Dameron was elbows-deep in some wiring on his X-Wing, BB-8 on the ground trying to assist him. He felt as though his beloved fighter wasn’t flying as quick as it was supposed to be, and went on in to investigate. He was just about to finish some wiring when BB-8 beeped from below him, signaling the arrival of the General. He turned, seeing Leia giving a smile to the little BB unit and then looking back up at Poe.
“What can I do for you, General?” he asked, hopping down from the top of the X-Wing and landing in front of her.
“I swear, you love this thing more than you love yourself.” she said to him.
“Well, I’ve put a lot of work into it. Where’s General Solo?” he asked her. Leia smiled at him when he asked about her daughter. Oh, he had it bad.
“Helping Chewbacca with repairs on the Falcon. You know that was her home for a while, right? She loves that ship. Flies it nearly as good as her father, if not better, actually. Walks away with a whole lot less damage with her than it did with Han.” Leia said to him. His ears perked up. You flew? He didn’t know that about you - he had never seen you outside of the Command Center for the most part. He’d love to see you fly one day, especially the Falcon. Poe didn’t doubt that you were a great pilot, you were great at almost anything to him. “Oh you have it bad…” Leia chuckled. BB-8 chirped beside her as Poe’s face turned red.
“Ex-excuse me, General?” he stammered, at a loss for words.
“Tell me, how long have you liked my daughter?” Leia asked, a little more forcefully. If he wasn’t going to see where this was going, she would have to be forward.
“I have no—”
“Dameron, cut the shit. I can tell just by the way you light up when she’s around or when she’s brought up.” Leia cut him off, tired of beating around the bush. He liked her and she knew it. Poe sighed, accepting defeat and finally meeting her gaze honestly.
“The moment I saw her for the first time. I almost pushed it all away, but when I found her on the floor after Han died… it all came back. I can’t get her out of my mind.” Poe said to her. Leia smiled, taking his hand in hers.
“Oh, I knew it.” she said with a laugh.
“Of course you did.” Poe mumbled. Leia gave his hand a squeeze before letting go.
“Go after her. She’s good for you, and you’re good for her. You need something else in this war besides your X-Wing, Dameron. But if you ever hurt her, I’ll demote you without second thought.” Leia said to him, beginning to walk away.
“Y-y-yes General.” he stammered, watching her walk away from the area. Poe sighed, kneeling on the ground next to his droid. “Well, what the hell do I do now, buddy?” he asked his droid. All he got was a few beeps in response that strung together to be ‘Ask her out, idiot’. Poe scoffed as he climbed back up on his X-Wing, continuing his work. From on top of his ship though, he could see you all the way across the base working on the Falcon with Chewie.
“Try that one, Uncle Chewie!” you said to him, throwing up a wire to the Wookie on top of the ship. He growled back in response, getting to work on fixing the hyperdrive. The inside workings were all fine and dandy, but somehow the outside workings were all screwed up. “Who in the world was the one flying this to get this damaged anyway?” you asked him. Chewbacca looked up, seeing Leia in the distance throw a wink at him, signaling it was ‘go time’ for her little plan. The Wookie growled back a name to you, which was honest, at least, but also divisive to Leia’s plan.
“Poe?! You let him fly this?! I thought we agreed either you, me, or Rey only!” you shouted back to him. Chewbacca growled a rushed few sentences back to you. “No, I do like Poe! I like him a lot, he’s a great pilot it’s just - the Falcon means a lot to me and I only want people Dad trusted flying it.” Once more, you were met with some more growls. “You’re just as bad as mom, you! Don’t read more into that!” you said, face red. Chewbacca laughed as he hopped down from the top of the Falcon, taking you in for a hug. He looked over your shoulder, or actually he just looked up technically, and saw Poe and BB-8 coming over towards you. The Wookie bid her a quick farewell and went off to join Leia. "You two are up to something and I am going to figure out what it - oh.... hello, Poe." you said, threatening the Wookie but cutting yourself off when Poe appeared behind you.
"Is everything alright, General?" he asked you. You quickly glanced over at your mother and Chewbacca in the Command Center staring at the two of you and immediately had a feeling as to what they were up to.
Oh, those sneaky little nerfherders.
You were no kind-of-Jedi-whatever-he-was like your brother, or even just a half-way-there Jedi like your mother, and definitely not a full fledged Jedi like your Uncle Luke (you weren't actually Force sensitive at all, you were fully your father's daughter), but you knew exactly what your mother was up to. She was doing the same thing to you and Poe that she did to Kaydel Ko Connix and Jessika a year and a half ago.
She was setting you up.
Realizing that you hadn't answered him yet, you turned your attention back to the pilot.
"Oh, yeah... everything's good. How's your X-Wing?" you asked him, cleaning off your greasy hands with a towel before throwing it back on the ground.
"Gonna need to take it out later and make sure it doesn't blow up on me. How's the Falcon?" he asked you back, leaning against the leg of the ship. Maker, he was good looking.
"I need to get a droid in to run some diagnostics and we'll see. I heard that you were to blame for the malfunctioning hyperdrive." you said back to him pointedly. BB-8 chirped with laughter next to his master as he sped away, avoiding the confrontation.
"I - yeah... I have no excuse for this. I can help you with the repairs, if you want?" he said to you sweetly, clearly sorry for this. Poe was cursing himself out in his head, clearly trying not to blow any chances he had with you but feeling like he was. You sighed softly and shook your head.
"No, it's fine. I pretty much got her all fixed, anyway. I'm a little particular with who gets to fly her, you know? I'd prefer if it was just Chewie and I, and maybe Rey. But things happen." you said sadly across from him. Poe knew that list was short for "only people who my father actually trusted to fly her could touch" - and Han certainly didn't trust Poe, even though he hardly knew him.
"Hey, I get it. Won't touch her again without your permission. But I will have you know, I am the best damn pilot in the galaxy." He said, trying to lighten the mood. You gave a laugh at him.
"You forgot to put the word 'second' in there, Commander." you said shyly, walking up closer to him.
"Are you calling yourself the best pilot? I'll have to witness it myself, General." he said, his confidence boosting as he took one step closer to you. Your heart started beating faster in your chest as he was now nearly chest-to-chest with you. Poe wrapped an arm around your back and brought his lips to yours quickly, catching you off guard. You kissed him back, sinking into his embrace as your lips moved with each other. Sparks flew and you heard a muffled Wookie cry in the background, parting your lips from each other as you let out a giggle.
"That woman is unbearable, sometimes." you said to him, knowing that he would immediately know who you were talking about. Poe let out a laugh too, keeping you in his embrace to brush your hair out of your face gently.
"That she is, but we wouldn't survive without her." Poe commented. You smirked as he turned you two to face your smiling mother and an accomplished Wookie, along with an overly happy droid at her feet. "Still gonna need to see you fly though. Just to make sure you really are the best." he said. You laughed as you looked up to him, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
"Consider it a date, hotshot."
I'm two days late, but I added chapter 52 to Return of the Survivors today. Below is a small selection. Please click the links to read more.
Chapter 52 - Welcome to the Infantry
“Welcome to the White Forty-Seventh Infantry uh Private Skywalker.” Donael, her commander greeted her.
Leia tried to retain composure, but was finding it difficult as she boarded the CR90 Corvette she’d been stationed on. ‘Luke would love this!’ she couldn’t help but think. Of course she missed her brother. But now was not the time to get emotional. She gulped as her captain continued.
“It’s been a while since we’ve had an officer assigned here straight out of Basic Training. Most of your fellow officers have served one or two terms already,” Donael went on, “But I don’t doubt you’ll fit in. We’re an agreeable bunch.” The Captain was an older Duros who’d, she had no doubt, seen many battles in his time. His blue-green skin was wrinkled and he bore a prominent scar on his bald head. “Your quarters are down this way. You’ll be bunking with Aretti. I’ll leave you to get settled in. We have a diplomatic mission in forty eight hours. I trust you’ll be ready.”
“Sir, Yes sir!” Leia enthusiastically replied.
***
Leia rushed into her bunk to unpack her belongings. She didn’t have much, just the usual stuff given out to recruits and what she’d brought from home. She hesitated for a second thinking about her lightsaber. Lennis, her drill sergeant, had said that it would be up to her next commanding officer if she was allowed to use it.
‘ I’ll have to ask the captain,’ Leia thought as she slid it back into her bag. Then she tucked the bag so it was hidden under her bed.
“Oh, hello.” Leia looked up at the new voice to see a Caamasi woman standing in the doorway. Her skin was covered in a greyish fur with brown and black markings on her cheeks and arms. Her ears stuck out to the sides of her head and she had a long snout that was more elegant than rough. Her eyes were a warm deep yellow-brown. And most surprising, she wore a Rebellion Uniform, with one patch on her sleeve.
“Hi, I’m Leia. You are?”
“Corporal Aretti. You’re my new bunkmate.” She declared.
“Yeah, um…” Leia drawled.
“You’re wondering what I’m doing here?” Aretti supplied.
“Uh…” Leia didn’t know how to answer.
“You wouldn’t be the first. I’m a Caamasi soldier, almost like saying I’m a Jedi Pacifist, but here I am.” Aretti held her arms up and spun around.
“Well…” At this point Leia really was tongue tied. Caamasi were known to be pacifist by nature and friends to all. And what she said about Jedi was very outdated. ‘ Maybe in the clone wars, but now. Most Jedi won’t join the Rebellion unless the Emperor comes knocking at their door himself. It’s why I left them after all.’
Aretti continued, “Mine is a very long story. I joined to defend my people. Then after we lost my old Remnant, well, this unit seemed to work out for me. What’s your story? I heard you transferred here right out of basic training.”
“Yeah, I did. I kinda joined up without clearing it with my parents first, and my aunt was really mad at first. But then I impressed my Drill Sergeant and my aunt knows the General, so. That’s how I got here,” Leia summarized as best she could.
“Oh, I see. Say, who was your Drill Sergeant?” Aretti asked.
“Sergeant Vill Lennis,” Leia answered.
“Oh, I know him. He wasn’t mine, but my bunkmate during the sieges trained under him. Said he was a stickler.”
Leia rolled her eyes, “A loud mouth and a stickler, but he wins you over in time. Say, I was wondering, what kind of action do you typically see here. They said we were escorts to some important people, but they weren’t very specific after that. I figured it probably varies from assignment to assignment, but I wanted to be prepared.”
Aretti looked surprised to hear the question. “Oh, you don’t have to worry. It’s an easy post. Our next mission is escorting the Alderaanian Princess. She’s going to be of age in a couple years and her father likely wants her to have some experience seeing the wider galaxy before she takes on her next role. The Princess stands to inherit a seat in the senate. That’s how Alderaan works. A bit old fashioned with the inherited posts, but it’s a great place to live, if you have to settle anywhere.”
Aretti just stopped talking and stared off into space.
Leia meanwhile started to contemplate what she meant by Easy Post. “So mostly protective detail and guard duties,” she guessed. “How often does someone try to harm the mark?… Aretti?” Her companion was silent for several seconds.
“Oh,” Aretti shook her head. “Pardon there, I had a Memnii. I had just arrived on Alderaan. I was feeling grief, from leaving my home, and afraid of all the new things around me. But then one of the Rebels bought us a pastry at a little shop at the docks. Yumm It was so good. I like having that one.”
‘ Memnii, Oh. Memory,’ Leia thought. “That sounds like a good memory.”
“It is. I have to go. I promised Rob I’d help him with his stretches. Rob is in our unit too. Was injured a couple months ago out on the front, and he transferred here until he completes his recovery. Get this, he actually wants to go back to the active unit!” Aretti shrugged. “So I help him, that way he can recover faster. Say, why don’t you come too. That way I can introduce you and give you the tour. The training room is on the other side of the ship, so we’ll be passing most of everything on our way.”
“Alright,” Leia agreed. She gave her guide a smile before stepping forward to follow her out the door.
Campaign transcript: Ep018, Lyn and Zara
I’m relistening to the Mandalore arc!
The conversations with the Kaiburr Crystals are really intriguing, so I’ve transcribed a couple. Here’s the call Lyn makes to Zara Zoicite in episode 18, setting up the boys’ meeting with the Kaiburr Crystals. Most of it is under a cut for length. Enjoy!
---
L: Hello, Princess.
Z: Professor! Long time no see. You're looking well.
L: As are you. How is the crew?
Z: Worse for your absence. But good. Actually, really good. We played Glee Anselm last week. They had us in these ducky bubble suits and we were all six(?).
L: Your highness always did want to play underwater.
Z: Right, well. Where have you been?
L: Ugh. Stuck on Myrkr for far too long.
Z: Ew! Why?
L: Car'das wised up and started hiding out there. It looks like he and Blue are talking again, by the way. There were Imp scientists all over the place.
Z: Doing what?
L: I would want to know. I spent most of the time avoiding J's dogs.
Z: Hmm. Well, you got the files at least, so that's good.
L: I... did. Yes.
Z: So. What's the Professor doing on Mandalore, and why is she calling me?
L: I'm running with some new babes. They're sweet, but reckless and in way over their heads. They need some things and honestly, I think you could all benefit from knowing each other. There's a -
Z: Oh Lyn! Are they the Aurek {something?} lambs coming out of Alderaan?
L: What? Yes, how did you -
Z: I was hoping someone would bring them around! Lyn, you're the best! Who are they? What did they do?
L: Ask them yourself.
Z: Boo! Boo.
L: From what I gather, something to Palpatine directly.
Z: Professor, I can clearly see you know more than that. Tell me.
L: No, it is not my business.
Z: That seems rather needlessly respectful.
L: We are not friends anymore, Princess. Stop.
Z: We're friends, Lyn. I wouldn't have picked up the ph-
L: And I can't smell you through the screen either, so give it up. Just stop.
Z: Ouch. Are you sleeping with any of them?
L: I do not see how that is any of your business.
Z: The Valentine boy, maybe? He has that hair you like so much.
L: Why would you think that I would tell you?
Z: Oh, you're not, then.
L: Frang, Princess! I -
Z: Well, you're all mad and not embarrassed, so no. Which is almost a shame. It would have been really funny.
L: What?
Z: Oh, you'll see. Or will you? How many grifters should I tell Thump to look for?
L: Three. I am not coming.
Z: Oh that's a shame. I'd really like to see you again.
L: Frink off. When should they come around?
Z: Hmm. Honestly? After the show tomorrow is probably best. I'm meeting with locals all tonight, and security's getting tight anyway. Tell them that. Imp {something?} concerts harder. For some reason, they seem to think musicians are rousing the youth against them. They should be careful getting in.
L: Great. Are we done here?
Z: We are if that's what you want.
L: Tell Angel and Windy I say hi.
someday. | paz vizsla x fem!reader
Chapter III
masterlist
synopsis: Paz Vizsla finds himself stuck on Dantooine with a broken ship and no credits. Luckily, he finds you, a mechanic that will fix his ship for passage to Hosnian Prime. Over the course of your time together, a courtship blossoms.
warnings/things to note: swearing; reader has hints of PTSD that will be expanded on in further chapters (and those will be tagged with stronger warnings); no use of ‘Y/N’; my fc for Paz is Winston Duke, I don’t describe Paz too much at the moment, but just know that’s who I picture!
word count: 6.4k
karyai - main living room of the covert - a big chamber for talking, resting, and even the last secure stronghold when under attack.
ba’vodu - uncle/aunt
-
The birds of Yavin IV’s song was calming as you came into full consciousness. The sleep from the night before was much needed, and very refreshing. You opened your eyes and looked to where Paz had been before you’d fallen asleep. He wasn’t there. Neither was your sleep mask. “Kriff!” You flung your body onto your right side, looking away from Paz’s side of the bed.
Shit. Shit. Shit. You’d told him you wouldn't look. Hell, you told him it was impossible for you to look. And here you are, no mask over your eyes. What if he’d been there? After all the time you’d spent convincing him to share the bed with you, that it’d be safe. Sure, you hadn’t actually seen him, but the possibility frightened you. You couldn’t violate him like that, even if it was an accident. You couldn’t live with yourself.
A few minutes of deep breathing later, you got out of bed, and headed into the ‘fresher. You wanted so badly to take another shower, to relax under the water, but you knew it was important to save water, not sure if the covert had water to spare for your journey. You’d have to be content with washing your face and pretending.
You stared in the mirror, into your own eyes. You replayed the night before: the vibroblade that now sat with your stuff, the idea of Paz taking you to his home and meeting his family, learning his traditions. The pure bliss you were in as you fell asleep, and then the violent jerk of the morning’s close call. Your eyes were no longer as tired as they had been when you’d looked at yourself last night.
You threw on jeans and a shirt, and finally left the safety of the ‘fresher. Would Paz be mad about the mask coming off? He was so hesitant as it was, you were terrified that this would push him away, make him realize that there’s too much risk in a relationship with a non-Mando.
“Kebiin’ika?” Paz called as he heard the door to the bedroom open.
“Yeah?”
He stood up and met you halfway between the room and the common area. “How’d you sleep?” He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you into a half hug before leading you to the table you’d sat at the night before.
“Pretty good,” you said, taking a seat. “Paz?” He hummed and sat down a bowl of some type of porridge in front of you. “Are you mad at me?”
The helmet snapped up to look at you. “Why would I be mad? If you think you broke the towel rack in the ‘fresher, you haven’t. It’s always been like that.”
“No, Paz,” you said. “About the sleep mask. It came off last night. I’m so sorry, I thought it would stay on. I’m not really a wild sleeper so I don’t know how it happened, but I understand if you’re mad at me-”
“Kebiin’ika,” he says, cutting you off. You suck in a big breath, not realizing how long you’d been rambling. “It’s not that big of a deal to me, it was an accident. You didn’t see my face, right?”
You nodded. “Right.”
“See? No creeds broken,” he says. He can tell you’re still a little shaken up, and moves to lay his large, gloved hand over your small one. “If I didn’t trust you, mesh’la, I would’ve slept on the cot. I knew the mask came off when I woke up this morning, but I trust you enough that I know you wouldn’t use the opportunity of me being asleep to look, even on accident.”
You couldn’t see his face, but you swear you could hear a smile on his face. “Are you sure? I know I didn’t see anything this time, but I would understand if you want me to take the cot from now on.” He ushered you closer to him, his arm around you. It was a bit awkward with all his armor and clothes, but the heart was there. “Kebiin’ika,” he said. “I’m comfortable with sleeping the way we did last night as long as you are. I’m not worried.”
You sighed, leaning into him. The beskar was cold and you just wanted to feel him, his warm skin. “Ok,” you say. “If you’re comfortable, I’m comfortable.”
“Good,” he replies. “Now, why don’t you finish eating while I call the covert. Tell them that I’ll be there shortly to pick up some of our supplies, ok?”
You nodded, and he let you out of his embrace. While spooning the food into your mouth, you watched him at the hull, punching some numbers into his gauntlet and then speaking in what you assumed was Mando’a. It was such a beautiful language, especially coming from Paz’s mouth. And he spoke it with a pride in his voice that he didn’t have when speaking Basic.
“Alright, mesh’la,” he said as you got to the bottom of the bowl. “I’ll be back soon, no more than two hours.”
“Two hours?”
“Yes, two hours,” he laughed. “It may be sooner, but you never know. Mandalorians take a long time to say goodbye.”
You smiled at him. “Alright, have fun,” you say.
“Oh, I will,” he replies. You watched as the mountain of blue beskar exited the ship and mounted the speeder the two of you rode the day before. A lot has changed since then, you thought. Before you knew it, Paz Vizsla was gone and a dirt cloud took his place.
-
Paz’s ride back to his home didn’t take too long at all. And when he arrived, he spotted Din and Grogu on some rocks outside the entrance.
“C’mon, Grogu,” Din is saying. “You can do it.” Grogu sat on a rock opposite Din, with his eyes closed. In Din’s hand was Grogu’s beskar ball. Grogu and his ball were inseparable.
As Paz dismounted and began walking towards the hangar, Grogu’s eyes shot open and he let out an excited shriek. Paz didn’t speak fifty-year-old-toddler, but he figured it was something along the lines of “ba’vodu!”.
Din turned around, too, and stood. He picked up his little foundling and greeted Paz half way. “How was your evening?”
“Nice,” Paz says. “Yours?”
Din nods. “Mine was ok, but I don’t have a pretty mechanic in my room like you do.”
Paz rolled his eyes. “Din, it’s not like that.”
Grogu made a sound of protest. “Hm,” Din said. “My Jedi son seems to think differently. He’s never wrong about these things…” Din teases.
Paz stops just as they’re about to open the blast doors. “Din, Grogu,” Paz says. “Just between us?”
“Just between us,” Din says, and Grogu babbles.
Paz sighed, was he really doing this? He was. “We’re courting.”
“I knew it!” Din exclaims, and Grogu laughs. “I knew it, Paz. So what’d you give her?”
Paz patted the empty sheath. “Vibroblade.”
“Classic,” Din says. “What will you propose marriage with? Something of her homeworld’s tradition? Or wait and exchange blades that Armorer makes?”
Paz shakes his head, and he’s smiling beneath his bucket. “Maker, Din, I haven’t thought that far ahead.” Though he figured it’d be blades. You didn’t seem too fond of being reminded of Alderaan. “But I’ll put your name in if we need a wedding planner.”
“You better,” Din replies. “Armorer will want to know, too.”
Paz nodded. “I know. I’m not sure I’ll tell her this time. I don’t want word getting out.”
“She won’t tell anyone, you know that.”
“I know, but still,” Paz said, finally punching in the code and opening the doors. “But we’ve got a covert of eavesdroppers.”
There was a child tending to one of his chores just inside, and as soon as he spotted Paz, he practically lunged at him. “Paz!”
“Hey, ad’ika,” Paz says, taking the young kid up onto one of his arms. “I didn’t get to see you yesterday!”
“I know,” he said. “My buir had me at home practicing math. Math! Can you believe it?”
Paz laughed. “Knowing your buir? Yes, yes I can.”
The group walked further inside the winding the halls of the covert, adding new people to their crew as they saw them. Eventually they reached the karyai, and everyone got comfortable on the many cushions, chairs, and sofas littered about the room.
Paz stayed standing. “Sorry, everyone,” he said when he noticed their disappointment that he wasn’t going to be there long. “But I’ve got my end of a deal to hold up, and I don’t want to keep her waiting.” Paz noticed that at the mention of a her, helmets turned to the side, looking at each other, silently gossiping.
“Then come in here, Paz,” Armorer says, at the doorway to her forge. “And we’ll discuss what you need.”
Paz obeyed, making his way through all the Mandalorians relaxing in the karyai. He closed the door behind him, and sat at Armorer’s table. “We’ve compiled some things for your journey,” she says. “It’s not much, but it’s what we have. It’s in the hangar, I’m sure Clan Djarin would be happy to assist you in taking it back to your ship.”
“I’m sure it’s more than enough,” Paz replies. “Thank you, Armorer.”
She nodded. “Now, how happy was your mechanic at being left on the ship for so long yesterday?”
Paz could hear her smirk. “She got bored. Wasn’t there when I got back,” he said. “I almost lost my mind, but she was just in the little town, shopping.”
Armorer let out a soft chuckle. “And you’re trying to tell everyone you aren’t smitten? Maker, Vizsla, I’d think you’d be better with convincing by now.”
Paz sighed. “You’d think.”
Armorer’s stare bore into him. For Mandalorians, it usually wasn’t intimidating when another looked at you through their visor. It was normal. But Armorer’s presence was different, she was intimidating. “Where is your vibroblade?”
Kriff. “It’s right here,” he said, patting the sheath on his left side, where his second vibroblade sat.
“No, not that one,” she said. “The one I forged for you when you donned your helmet. I swear you had it yesterday.”
Well, he might as well tell her at this point. She wouldn’t believe that he’d lost it, this blade had Mandalorian and Vizsla carvings in it, he rarely used it in combat. “Don’t tell anyone this,” Paz said. “I want it to be a secret for now, ok?”
She nodded.
“I gave it to her. The mechanic.”
Armorer sucked in a breath so sharp that her vocoder picked it up. “As a courtship proposal?” Paz nodded. “I wish you both many blessings, many warriors,” she said. Paz didn’t know if you wanted warriors, but Armorer’s blessings were traditional, and carried a lot of weight.
“Thank you, Armorer,” he replies. “I will pass along the message.”
“If you two are courting, then why didn’t you bring her here? Are you still going on your journey?”
Paz nodded. “She has unfinished business in the Hosnian system,” he didn’t tell her what business. It wasn’t his place, and Armorer understood. “We’ll be back, though I’m not sure when.”
“Long hyperspace travel will be good for your relationship.” Armorer entered counselor mode. “Building trust and love.”
Paz always felt a bit awkward when she became a psychologist. So he just nodded. “Anyways, you said the supplies were in the hangar?”
She nodded. “Take care of her, Paz,” she said. They both stood. “This is the Way.”
“This is the Way,” Paz repeated.
Paz exited the Armorer’s workshop. Back in the karyai, some people had gone back to their rooms or to tend to their duties, but many still sat around. “Din?” Paz said to his friend.
“Yeah?”
“You don’t happen to know where Bezza is, do you?”
Din nodded. “Last I saw she was in one of the sparring rooms.” Paz thanked him and headed off down one of the long corridors towards the training rooms.
All the sparring room doors were open except one. Paz opened it gently, and looked inside. Bezza wielded the beskar staff Din had brought back with him. She was sparring with a reprogrammed droid, the only one in the covert. Paz watched with pride as she jabbed at the droid, careful not to hurt it too much. There were still children that would need to learn from sparring with the machine.
As she landed a final blow, the droid declared her the winner, and she backed off. Paz clapped from his place at the door. “That was very impressive,” he said. “You’ve gotten used to the armor quite well.”
“Paz!” She dropped the staff and walked towards her friend. “No one told me you were here.”
“That’s probably best,” Paz said. “I need to tell you something, and I need you to not repeat it, ok?”
Bezza nodded. “Ok. But if you tried to bring a Loth-cat in again, I’m not making any promises.”
Paz laughed. “It’s not a Loth-cat. It’s about my girl.”
“Your girl?”
Paz nodded. “We’re courting.”
Bezza threw her arms around her ba’vodu. “Paz that’s wonderful!” Their beskar sang as he patted Bezza on the back. When she finally let go she said, “Are you guys staying here? When do you think you’ll marry? I know Mandalorian courtships tend to not last long, but she’s not a Mandalorian so-”
Paz cut off her rambling by saying, “I don’t know. Like I told Din, I haven’t thought that far ahead yet.”
Bezza laughed. “Of course you haven’t. How many people have you told, Paz? You know if you tell the wrong person, your courtship will be the topic at many dinner tables tonight.”
“I know,” Paz replied. “Only you, Din, and Armorer know.”
“Ok,” she said. “So I take it you’re not going to stay here?”
Paz shook his head. “We’re off to Hosnian Prime as soon as I get back with the supplies.” Somehow, Paz could sense Bezza’s disappointment. He wanted so badly to be there for her, help her through her losses, but he’d made a promise to you. A Mandalorian’s honor was their everything. “I’m not sure how long we’ll be there, but we’ll be coming back here. Maybe even to stay.”
“What’s even on Hosnian Prime?”
Paz sighed. He wanted to tell her, to give her a detailed reason so maybe she felt better. But, again, it wasn’t his place. “She has some business to take care of, Bez.”
She nodded, somewhat satisfied. “Can I walk with you to the hangar?” Paz nodded and they left the sparring room. All the way there, Bezza asked questions in typical teenage fashion. What’s her name? What’s she like? What color is her hair? And Paz answered them all. He figured you wouldn’t mind, and they weren’t too personal. All her questions reminded Paz of just how young she was. Other Mandalorians would understand not to ask those questions, just as Bezza would, in time.
In the hangar were Din and Grogu and that kriffing ball. Din had already loaded the speeder bikes with the fuel and food, and was now just killing time with his son. “Din!” Paz called. “I’m just about ready.”
Paz turned to Bezza. “When I get back we’ll start a plan for your training. There’s still a lot to get used to in the armor, especially with the jetpack.”
“Ok,” she said. “Hurry back, alright? And be safe!” Paz and Bezza exchanged a few more goodbyes, and he promised to pass on her hello to you.
Finally, Paz and Din had mounted the speeder bikes. Grogu sat in a carrier on Din’s chest, obviously excited to feel the wind whip around his long ears. The men had unspokenly made it a race, revving their engines and attempting to pass each other without knocking their cargo loose.
-
You sat outside the ship, taking in the fresh air as the Mandalorians arrived in a cloud of dust, Mando’a, and a baby’s shriek. A baby? You thought.
You got on your feet and approached the speeders. To your surprise, the Mandalorian in unpainted beskar greeted you by name. Quite a lot kinder than the stare he’d met you with when you’d first arrived. “Hello,” you said. “It’s nice to meet you.” Then your eyes finally dropped from the helmet to the carrier on his chest. “Who’s this?”
“My son,” the Mando said. “His name is Grogu.”
You smiled at the baby. “Hello, Grogu,” you said, and introduced yourself to him. Grogu’s tiny little arms reached out for you, and with Mando's permission, you picked him up. “You’re a tiny little thing, aren’t you, Grogu?” He babbled excitedly.
The two of you stood back as Din and Paz began loading the supplies onto the ship. “Your dad is very strong, Grogu,” you tell him as Din lifts a large crate off the bike and into the cargo hold. “Are you going to be strong like him?” Grogu gives you a strong response. This kid has to be a handful, you thought. Grogu stayed gripped onto you, his three little fingers wrapped around your one, gurgling and babbling like he made all the sense in the world. You, of course, humored him, and had a deep conversation about the inflation of credits as the shift from Imperial credits to New Republic credits took place.
Eventually, the men were done, the ship was loaded and refueled. “Alright, Grogu,” you say. “I think your dad will be wanting you back.” You placed a kiss to the top of his odd green head, and attempted to hand him over to the Mando. Grogu had other ideas. His fingers stayed gripped on the back of your t-shirt.
“Grogu,” Din said. “We have to go. Come on.”
You laughed at the little baby, amazed at how he’d become so attached to you in such little time. “Go on, hon,” you coax. “Your uncle and I will be back soon, I promise.” His big, dark eyes looked up at you, and then he allowed you to pass his little body to his father, who fastened him into the carrier.
“Safe travels, you two,” Mando said, and attached the bike Paz rode to his own, and him and Grogu were off.
Finally, you were able to give Paz a hug. “Ready, kebiin’ika?” he asked.
“Yeah. Let me call Leia before we go,” you say. “I forgot to this morning.”
“Ok, I’ll be waiting in the cockpit whenever you’re ready.” He turned around and disappeared onto the ship.
You held the holoprojector in front of you, anxious. Surely Leia would want to see you, right? After all your time together…
You sat the projector on a rock and sat down in front of it. You punched in the numbers Leia had sent you a while ago, and waited. Finally, a young girl answered. “May I ask who is calling?” You told her your name. “And who are you calling for?”
“Leia,” you said, and then cringed. “Uh, her royal highness.” You’d never really grasped the royal protocol.
The girl looked closely. “Is the princess expecting you?”
“Uh, not really,” you said. “But we fought in the Rebellion together. She gave me this number, told me to call if I needed her.”
The girl nodded, and walked out of frame. Hopefully, she’d return with Leia. She did return, but no princess in sight. “Her royal highness will meet with you shortly.” And then she was gone again.
You sat looking around at the trees, taking in your last minutes on a planet for some time. And even when you got to Hosnian Prime, it would be way different. Hosnian Prime was busy, unlike Dantooine and Yavin IV.
“Finally!” said a voice. Leia’s. She stood in holo form on the rock, an elegant white dress covered her form and her hair was in two braids down her shoulders. “I’ve been wondering when I’d hear from you.”
“Leia!” you exclaimed. “I’ve wanted to call, but you know how I felt when the war was won…I wasn’t sure you’d want to hear from me.”
She frowned. “Oh, stop that,” she said. “I’ll always want to hear from you. I’m sorry it took me so long to get on the line, Korrie is quite protective of me.”
“I understand,” you smiled. “You are a very important person, your royal highness.”
Leia laughed. “Now, what did I tell you back on Alderaan about formal titles?”
“Yeah, yeah, you’re a normal person when you’re with me,” you said, rolling your eyes. “I take it you’re a bit exhausted with decorum at the moment?”
She nodded. “And it doesn’t help that Threepio is the decorum police, either.” The two of you shared a laugh at the droid’s expense. You didn’t know how Leia could stand C-3PO all the time. “Enough with my complaining, are you ok? Is there something you need?”
“Well, I was calling to see if you’d receive me on Hosnian?” you asked. “I want to catch up with you, maybe even a few friends from the old days?”
Leia smiled. “Of course I’ll receive you! When are you leaving? And where from?”
“Yavin IV,” you say. “And hopefully as soon as I hang up with you, if that’s ok?”
She nodded. “That’d be great. I’ll have Korrie send you the coordinates. I can’t wait to see you!” Leia had a way of making anyone feel comfortable, and you couldn’t wait to be in her full presence again. You exchanged goodbyes, and Leia disappeared from the rock.
Back on the ship, you grabbed a fruit bar from the kitchen and sat in the cockpit. “How was your princess?” Paz asked as he copied the coordinates from your holopad.
“Good,” you replied. “I had no reason to be anxious, really.”
Paz put a gloved hand over yours on the armrest. “I’m glad it’s working out, mesh’la.”
“What’s that word mean? You’ve been calling me that all day.”
His thumb rubbed circles on the back of your hand. “It means ‘beautiful’,” he says.
“Mesh’la,” you repeat. “It’s a beautiful word, no wonder it means beautiful.” Paz chuckled a little at your awe.
His hand left yours and landed on the controls. “Ready to head out?” You nodded, mouth too full to properly respond, and the take off sequence was activated. The ship rose out of the clearing, and you watched as Yavin IV grew smaller beneath you. You saw a building off in the distance, it looked half underground, with a large hangar at the front.
“Is that your home?” you ask, pointing out at the structure.
Paz nodded. “Indeed it is,” he says.
“That was part of the Rebel base once,” you say, remembering your time here. “I didn’t spend too much time on that part, though. There was a main hangar a little farther down, but after the war Leia had a lot of it removed, so the wildlife could return to normal,” you say. “Guess not all of it was taken.”
The ship finally reached the atmosphere and Paz guided the ship through it with grace. The jump to hyperspace was made, and the ship was on autopilot for the next three days.
Paz turned to you in his chair. “We live in a rebel base now?”
“Indeed you do,” you say. “I think a lot of that building was quarters for officers and stuff. I’ll bet Leia can tell you when we arrive.”
“You want me to come with you to meet her?”
You looked at him, a little confused. “Of course I do,” you tell him. “I don’t know how long I’ll be there and I’m sure that a princess has room to spare. Besides, it’ll do you some good to sleep on a proper bed for a few nights.”
“Are you sure, kebiin’ika? Mandalorians aren’t greeted too kindly.”
“Maybe not in the Outer Rim,” you say. “But that far into the Core? And a guest of Princess Leia’s? I’m sure it'll be ok.”
He nodded. “Ok, then. I’ll come with you.” You smiled at him, wishing so badly to smile at his face and not his helmet. You took his hand in yours, stood up, and led him to the little common area. There was a small sofa pushed against one of the walls, and you motioned for him to sit.
“I’ll be right back,” you say, and retreat back to the cockpit. When you return, Paz is sat on the sofa, still as can be. It was still a little creepy, how he could just sit there. You held up your holopad. “First thing to know about dating me is I need designated snuggle and holodrama time.”
He laughed. “Is this a common thing or just a kebiin’ika thing?”
You sat down next to him, a little confused that he was wondering if cuddling and watching holos was common. “Am I your first girlfriend, Paz?”
“If I say yes will you think I’m weird?”
“No, I won’t think you’re weird.”
“Then yes,” he said. You looked at him, feeling a wave of sadness. Had this man been cuddled ever? Hugged? Loved? You cared for him so much already, and you wanted him to feel those things.
“Well, I’m not sure if it’s a me thing, but it’s an important thing,” you laugh, setting the holopad up to project against the blank wall of the ship. A show about a Jedi and a Twi’lek healer’s unrequited love played on the wall, a slight silver hue brought by the metal of the ship. You moved to cuddle against him, but the armor was stubborn.
“Could you, like, take some of this off?” You say, gesturing at the metal.
He feigned surprise. “You haven’t even taken me out, mesh’la, and you expect me to strip?”
You rolled your eyes. “Just lose some of it so I can cuddle you.” He obeyed, the cuirass and pauldrons going first, and then the gauntlets and gloves. He was left in his fly suit, made of a coarse weave fabric. It wasn’t the most comfortable, but it would do. You moved his arm around you as you settled into his chest. You could tell he wasn’t too sure what to do. “You’re warm,” you sigh.
“Sorry, mesh’la,” he says.
“Why are you sorry? It’s nice. Hyperspace gets cold,” you tell him. He was a little tense at first, he wasn’t used to this, he really hadn’t been properly cuddled since before he lost his buire so long ago.
Paz looked down at you, your head resting against him as you took in the predictable plot of the show. You were relaxed, almost like earlier that morning when he’d woken up. The mask had been gone, and your eyes had gently fluttered in your sleep. Paz felt a tightness in his chest, a feeling he’d been having a lot since you’ve been around. It’s gotten more and more intense, especially as you curled yourself into him. Your touch was burning into his skin in an amazing way, and he knew he’d be able to feel it long after you’d get up. He repeated your it’s nice in his head. No one had ever told him that touching him was nice. In fact, most people hated the touch of a Mandalorian. If they even lived to hate it.
As the drama went to an ad for some kind of Bantha milk, Paz felt you move to look up at him. “Paz?”
“Hmm?”
“I know you can’t tell me what your Mando friend looks like under his helmet,” you say. “But can you tell me how he fits his ears in the helmet?”
Paz laughed. “What?”
“Well, if his ears are anything like his son’s, I’d imagine it’s hard.”
He threw his head back in a bellow of laughter. “Mesh’la, my friend and his son aren’t the same species. Grogu is a foundling.”
“A foundling?”
He finally recovered from his laughter, and his breath steadied. “Yeah, Mandalorians take in children who’ve lost their parents. My friend was a foundling once, and his son is a foundling.”
“Oh,” you said. “Well that explains the ears, I guess. You weren’t a foundling were you?” You remembered him saying something about Vizslas being important on Mandalore.
He shakes his head. “No,” he says. “The Vizsla line goes as far back into Mandalorian history as I can trace. But most importantly, Tarre Vizsla, who was a Jedi, created the Darksaber. Whoever wields the dark saber is the Mand’alor, our ruler.”
“Who is the Mand’alor now?” you ask.
He shakes his head. “There isn’t one. Mandalore isn’t the same as it was, it hasn’t been in a very long time. Before I was born, even.”
“Well, you’re a Vizsla aren’t you? Shouldn’t you wield it?”
He laughs a little. “That’s not exactly how it works, mesh’la. Well, it worked like that for a while, but now you must win the saber in combat. Except no one knows where the saber is.” His voice had gotten sad, and he was running his right hand over his left while they sat on your back, some kind of self-soothing. “Besides,” he says, “There’s a lot of Vizslas out there I’m sure, and I don’t want to be a king. That is not the path that I follow.”
“I understand. It all becomes...a bit much,” you agree. Leia had offered you multiple positions on multiple committees in the new Senate, all dealing with labor laws and droids with a bunch of political nonsense you didn’t care to wade through. Not to mention having to represent the voice of mechanics all over the galaxy. No. Too much stress.
“Kebiin’ika,” Paz says. “As much as I like this old, lumpy sofa, don’t you think we’d be more comfy laying in bed?”
“I’m starting to think you’re a mind reader, Vizsla,” you say. The two of you awkwardly untangle in a mess of limbs and beskar clangs as you accidentally collide with his cuirass that lay on the floor. “Sorry,” you say, moving his armor up onto the sofa and off of the floor.
“Don’t be,” he reassured. “Beskar is practically invincible.”
The two of you made it into the bedroom, you set your holopad up properly to project onto the blank white wall ahead of the bed, there for this reason exactly. The show was brighter now, and clearer. It was technically late afternoon by Yavin IV time, but in hyperspace it was hard to tell. Paz got rid of the armor on his lower body, the codpiece, thighs and knees, and shins. He also kicked off his boots.
He looked so beautifully mundane. Doing something that he’d done a million times at this point, probably, and he was an expert. Could do with his eyes closed. And you loved it, you wondered if his brow furrowed under the helmet when he had to prod a clasp a little harder, or if he let out a soft huff when a piece was finally removed.
He climbed onto the bed and motioned for you to sit between his legs. Kriff, his legs were big.
You settled between his legs, back against his chest. His hands sat awkwardly on his thighs. “You know you can touch me, right?” you say, moving his hands to lay around your middle.
“I have to remind myself, mesh’la,” he says. “You’re not a quick fuck. You’re someone I want to be slow with, I’m just not sure how to go about it.” You were a bit surprised at how blunt he was, but honestly? You appreciated it. He wouldn’t be playing games with you.
You squeezed his hand. “We will go however slow as you want, alright? And don’t be afraid of me, ok? You can ask me anything.”
“I know, cyare, and I’m grateful for that,” he says softly. He wanted to kiss the top of your head so bad. He’d seen it in holos before, but never really understood the appeal until now.
At some point, you’d fallen asleep in the Mandalorian’s arms. It wasn’t until an hour later that he woke you up. “Kebiin’ika?” He’s whispering as much as the vocoder will let him. His voice is deep in your ear, and briefly becomes a part of your dream until you finally wake up.
“How long was I out?” You ask, sitting up and stretching your arms out in front of you.
He stood up, stretching his arms, too. “About an hour, I think. I dozed a bit, too.”
“I’m hungry,” you complain. He agrees, and you’re off to the kitchen. You start making sandwiches with a few of the vegetables you knew he’d bought back on Dantooine. You smiled at them, filled with a bit of nostalgia. That greenhouse of Aliria’s was always a peaceful place.
Paz is doing the same, though he’s making two sandwiches. You presume it’s because he’s such a large man, and such a strong man too. When you had relaxed into his chest, he was comfortable, a layer of fat that told you he took care of himself, and underneath you knew were strong, hardened muscles.
“Paz?”
“Hmm?”
“Do you want to sit with our backs to each other?” you ask. “So we can eat together instead of in shifts?” He nods, finishing up his sandwiches. You grab your plates and make your way to the sofa. He moves his armor back onto the floor a bit clumsily, and has to remind you that beskar is strong. He’s facing to the right, you to the left, backs together.
“You can lean back on me, cyare,” he says, and you smile at the switch of the nickname. It was kind of nice, not knowing which endearment would envelop you when he opened his mouth. You hear a click and hiss, sounds you’d heard the night before, and then the clunk of his helmet on the ship’s floor.
“I forgot to tell you earlier,” he says between bites. “Armorer and Bezza said to tell you hello.”
You remembered who Armorer was, but your brow furrowed, trying to recall where you’d heard the second name. “Bezza is the girl who you bought the journal for, yeah?”
“Yes, ma’am,” he says. “I hope you don’t mind my telling her about us. I’m the closest thing she has to family at the moment.”
You smile. “Of course it’s alright, Paz,” you say. “I’d love to meet her. She sounds very sweet.”
Paz felt a wave of joy rush over him. Bezza was very special to him, even more so now. And now you were special to him, too, and he wanted nothing more than for you two to get along. “If I would’ve known I would’ve brought her with me to the ship instead of my friend,” he said. He had to catch himself before saying Din’s name, knowing that Din was very particular about his name. Bezza, on the other hand, was a more modern Mando. “Maybe once I teach you to use that vibroblade, I can teach you how to wield a staff. Then you two could spar.”
“I don’t know, Paz,” you say. “I’m sure you’re a fantastic teacher, but I don’t see myself holding my own against a Mandalorian in combat.”
He laughed a little. “I’ll train you the Mandalorian way. One day, mesh’la, you will hold your own.”
A silence followed, you could hear the crunch of the chips he’d put in his sandwich as he bit.
“Is Bezza your foundling now?”
Paz swallowed his bite. “Maybe if she was younger I’d take her in, but she’s practically an adult. I wouldn’t want to insult her by insinuating she still needs caring for.”
“Everyone needs caring for,” you say, leaning your head back against him. “I’m twenty-six and I need caring for, emotionally anyways. I’m not sure how old you are, but I’m sure you do, too.”
He wasn’t at all shocked that you were twenty-six. He was, however, shocked that his age didn’t ever come up. “I’m forty-three,” he said, hoping that wouldn’t scare you. It didn’t seem to, so he continued. “And I guess you’re right, but still, I can care for her without taking her in.”
“I guess,” you said, and decided to let the topic of Bezza rest for a bit. “Do you think you’ll ever take in a foundling?”
“Yes,” he said. “I’d like to father some kids as well, but also take in foundlings. Not only is it important to the Tribe, but I love kids. That’s why I’m their teacher whenever I’m not out hunting.”
“That’s sweet, Paz,” you tell him. “I’d like a kid, too, I think. Though, it scares me. Making a person inside my body for almost a year.”
“Mandalorians say to train your sons to be strong but your daughters to be stronger,” he says. “I’m sure you can see why. Having children is important, it’s even in the Mandalorian wedding vows: ‘we will raise warriors’.”
You smile up at the ceiling, picturing you and Paz having a wedding. Some weird mix of Mandalorian and Alderaanian culture, exchanging Mandalorian vows. Maybe it was a bit early to be thinking about this, but you didn’t care.
-
You watched as Paz cleaned the plates from lunch. He volunteered to take your plate, and now he stood at the sink, scrubbing away the residue of the condiments and components of your lunches. Again, he looked so beautifully mundane, gloves gone, revealing his dark skin to you. Through the bubbles of soap you saw small pink scars littering the top of his hands. He scrubbed away with the brush, working diligently. Again you wondered what kind of face he makes when he concentrates. Does he stick his tongue out a little? Bite on the inside of his lip?
You thought back to the wedding you’d put together in your mind. You thought about how after those vows were exchanged you’d get to see the face he makes not only when he concentrates, but when he’s happy or frustrated, too.
He was such a mystery, but also easy to read. It confused you in the best way possible, and all you wanted was to read chapter after chapter of Paz Vizsla until you got to the part where you’d get to see his face, kiss his face, talk to his eyes rather than a visor. Someday, you told yourself. Someday.
