character bingo lets doooo shinjiro and fuuka. curious
Tumblr media
I love shinjiro so much and honestly I have only grown to love him more and more... His whole character in Persona 3 is amazing and I really adore his and Castor's designs (and how castor's mythology ties into him). He's always been in my top 5 persona 3 characters but he's kinda close to taking spot number 3...
Tumblr media
Fuuka is another character who I've really grown to love, she really is the glue of the team and despite all the bullshit in p3 she is so KIND hell look at how she and natsuki turned out after everything the latter did to her... Fuuka girl you are everything

Round 2

Propaganda Under Cut
Allura
Lots of people (myself included tbh) ship klance (Keith and Lance). In s8 the creators made Allura/Lance canon (but then they killed her off and left the ending ambiguous it was weird). Anyway the fandom treats her like she's the most terrible bitchy woman ever but all she wants to do is end the war and avenge her destroyed home planet. Yeah she wasn't always the nicest or always the best, but you could argue some other characters in the show aren't either and they aren't treated near as bad as allura. people really just hate her bc Lance liked her. I don't think allura/lance are good together, but I still liked her as a character and thought she was interesting and had a lot of growth during the show. she DEF is not evil like some people portray her as in fic or talk about her in captions on posts. I've seen people say that they HATE her and that she's the worst and I'm like ??? let her live (well sort of ig she is dead now). lots of fic writers use her as the villain which is so interesting to me bc the show literally has villains like use them. anyway allura so perfectly fits the bracket description she deserves better.
I hate to acknowledge my time in this fandom but I hate the way the fandom treated her more. Allura was treated like shit no matter what side of the Great Ship War you were on because she was always a threat to the biggest ships (klance and sheith). At best she got put into Background Lesbian or Consolation Prize Shallura (Space Mom-zoned) (She was not a motherly figure btw. She was just Black). At worst she was violently demonized for being ~racist~ (kinda not cool with the alien race that blew up her planet for a few episodes), complete with misogynistic language hurled at her (she got called a bitch sooo much). Allura was a good and cool character and the show did her dirty but the fandom was somehow worse.
i apologise for speaking the dark magicks, but amidst the voltron fandoms many, many transgressions, there were a particular subset of people who just hated this girl. the infamous klance wars of the 2010s kept this perfectly fine childrens cartoon character in the sights of shippers everywhere, and she (and her voice actress im sure) were subjected to years of petty squabble blown up to global perportions. ive seen hate, ive seen rants, ive seen fanfics that made her homophobic. girls been through the ringer, and even though voltron was never the show its fandom wanted it to be, i believe allura deserved better
Mary Morstan
a controversial one i know, but it’s tumblr. how could i not? anyway shoutout to the writers for CANONICALLY killing her off for the non-canon ship. she was so cool honestly poor girl
Oh god where do I start? Constantly being turned abusive? Killed off (in canon!)? Constantly being removed from fic? I cannot stand the way she's treated, but it's 100% impossible to find Johnlock fic without the "umsympathetic Mary Morstan" angle. It's infuriating!
The fandom insulted Mary at every conceivable turn, refused to acknowledge her narrative importance or impact on the other characters, called for her death repeatedly, and even SENT DEATH THREATS TO HER ACTRESS because she had the AUDACITY to be a morally gray female character who was married to John (they did not care about the moral grayness of the male characters, but she was irredeemable, apparently-presumably because she was a "threat" to the main fandom ship). And though she was definitely sacrificed on a SPECIFIC mlm ship altar, she was still tangentially victimized by OTHER mlm ships too! For example, this fandom was willing to make up a character WHO LITERALLY DID NOT ACTUALLY EXIST to ship with different male character (who was morally...way worse than she ever was), as well as create swathes of content about two men who had maybe one canon interaction in the whole show, before even thinking about the possibility of making content for this character or even just talking about her in a way that wasn't overtly misogynistic and degrading. When Mary died in-story (in what, in my opinion, was an unnecessary, bullshit way), her death was, to this fanbase, not actually about her and was just seen as "proof" that the two male leads would now get together (they didn't). And this STILL continues to this day. People reduce her to "selfish bitch," completely ignoring any of her complexity by claiming that she's incapable of caring about anyone (despite helping to save lives on more than one occasion, as well as dying in an act of sacrifice) and insisting that any of her positive qualities MUST be completely fabricated. I've seen a lot of female characters get mistreated by fandom for a mlm ship's sake, but I don't think I've EVER encountered an example as bad as this one.

Do you think the Sinclair backstory is fake or not? (I know this is a big topic in the HoW fandom atm)
*cracks my knuckles* Oh boy anon you don’t know what you’ve just unleashed! I’m putting this under a read more. Disclaimer before I write anything, I think both theories are valid! There's a lot of culminated evidence that suggests both theories (Brain’s interview, the original script proving it all to be fake etc etc.) So believing that the backstory is fake or isn’t is not inherently wrong!
Ok with all of that out of the way here’s what I think about the Sinclair backstory
Personally I think it’s half-true and half-false. I feel some of the stuff to be true (Trudy illness + dying, the abuse and the boys being put into foster care) but I also think given Bo’s character that he twisted some things. With Bo it’s hard to take what he says at face value since when we learn all of this he’s talking to Carly and Wade in his good guy persona. However there is one thing we know of that is 100% true. We know that Bo and most likely Vincent as well as Lester were abused. There’s physical proof so there’s no denying that plus I don’t think abuse is one of those things Bo would lie about, he just doesn’t strike me as that kind of character. Now into the things that are debatable but I still believe are true.
The main thing that I’ve seen that causes people to dismiss the backstory is Trudy specifically when we see her in the coffin. Now we see Trudy alive in two instances. First, is the beginning of the film now we really don’t see her here, we have some voice clips, close up of her hands (very important) and small fragments of the lower half of her face (easy to miss but still there) I at first thought it was two different actress but I after rewatching that’s just simply not true. Now the next time we see Trudy clearly (we get blurry photos in the movie on newspapers but they’re really hard to see), alive is much later in the film where Carly’s in the house. We see a bunch of photographs of Trudy smoking and with the two boys. Now this lays the ground base for a couple of things. First off as i mentioned earlier we see a close up of Trudy’s hands which are wrinkly this obviously suggests that she’s somewhat old. In my personal belief i think she’s around her 50s in the beginning (I have a young mum who’s around 40 her hands are nowhere near as wrinkly) however because Trudy does smoke she could actually be younger and the damage smoking does to her (as well as working with the wax — she works around fumes a lot) just may have aged her skin.
Now onto the point I'm trying to make. I don’t think Trudy is in the coffin. I think it’s another old woman, keep in mind this old woman and the Trudy we are shown look very different so I'm crossing out that the woman in the coffin is actually Trudy, but I believe the old woman is supposed to mimic Trudy. We learn from Bo that Trudy had an illness that left her bedridden which wasn’t able to be cured causing Dr.Sinclair to take his own life, I think this is true but I think she gained this illness much later in life then early on like Bo implies (plus with Lester in the picture it makes sense that she’s fairly old). I think she died from the illness but it horribly ravaged her with all the fumes she works around this destroys her body which in turn led to her appearance changing dramatically. Since she died in such a state I don’t think Bo would want to actually use her body like that, he would think it’d be disrespectful to Trudy. I think Bo’s actually doing all of this as some way to get Trudy’s attention if you think about it all of his motivations lead back to Trudy I think he blames himself for how she dies (catholic guilt and whatnot) I believe Bo is much more emotionally connected to his mother then Vincent ever was, but that’s a whole meta for another day. There’s also a bunch of symbolism that we see Bo with and only with Bo (the two knives in the coffin, the christian ring we never see Vincent with any of this ). So I see this as Bo’s elaborate plan to try and apologise to his family, and I think Vincent only goes along with it because he has no one else and also because he’s very attached to what he does now.
Now whether or not Trudy actually started this whole humans under the wax thing is very debatable to me (just like the backstory haha). On one hand you have Dr.Sinclair who makes for a prefect contender for murdering people however at the same time Ambrose wasn’t an unknown town like it is in the movie it’s actually somewhat well known (well known enough to get newspapers — though it could be local but i don’t know enough about that i’m british). However would a whole town be ok with letting murders go on? Potentially yes and potentially no, it really does depend on the person however i am sceptical and believe with the latter unfortunately.
That’s all I can think of now at the moment (this turned more into a Bo analysis then anything else…..) I got interrupted half way through this so any gems of thoughts I have probably got stolen away by time unfortunately, to be honest i don’t think i would have added much more the main debate for whether their backstory is fake at all seems to be linked to Trudy and I can’t blame them Bo’s main allure is his charm and amazing lying skills so anything he says cannot be taken as gospel.
I did warn you that this would be long anon….

Supernatural s3
It’s so unfair that the season that has Ruby AND Bela is so short :(((. I was done with it waaaay too quickly, and now I’m speed running through s4 xD (which, like the first time around, is Strong Mixed Feelings territory).
-My girl Ruby!!!! I was so happy to have her back, I kept grinning like a loon every time she was on screen. It’s quite interesting watching the 1.0 and 2.0 versions so close to each other, instead of as they air. I have... Thoughts, on whether Ruby as a double agent was something planned or that they decided as they went, but that’s for the s4 post. s3!Ruby really doesn’t come across as one (“I don’t believe in the devil” oh I wish sometimes xD, I love my nonbelievers), imo, but the beauty of such a device is that you can rationalize anything she does as devious if you want to xD
And it goes without saying that I love her interactions with Sam. THIS SHIP ISTG. I love how immediately ~attuned to her he is lol, his present and instinctive concern for her even if he tries to mask his interest as “practical”. And all the repeated times Sam’s conflicted between her and Dean -like when he deviates Dean shot (wasting one of the Colt’s bullets lmfao) or during the argument about the virgin sacrifice xD. And the “that’s my boy”/ “little fallen angel on your shoulder” quotes!!! Ruby 1.0 deserved to be railed by Sam too, smh.
My favourite episode of hers is “Jus in Bello” (which would be my fave of the season just by virtue of having both Bela and Ruby in the same episode lol. Not interacting, of course, the world as we know it wouldn’t have survived). I just love that she gets that final moment of I TOLD YOU SO to the brothers xD. I really like how she expands on the demonic lore of the show- I love, LOVE the detail about how all demons used to be humans, how they’re souls corrupted in hell. And that in her past life she was a witch (there was this really good fic in Spanish fandom about it... I need to hunt it down).
BTW, though I think her interactions with Dean in that episode are interesting, it really hammers home how much I hate him sometimes xD. Can you stop saying misogynistic slurs for TWO GODDAMN MINUTES, DEAN (and as we know from as early as this season, only HE can have demon/monster friends!! What a fucking hypocrite xD). I freaking love the moment in the finale when she viciously yells him about how she wishes she could see him in hell lmao (and how it foreshadows that when she shows sympathy later, it’s actually Lilith in disguise lmfao). I hate Dean gets the last word in their dynamic, tbqh. Until the s15 cameo, at least xDD
One thing that’s been bothering me xD: the French fries. Demons are vulnerable to salt, like other spirits, right? (and hey, look what a nice piece of foreshadowing that was). How does that translate to food lol. Because Ruby adores French fries, and they obviously contain salt. It’s like spicy food for humans? Or like pineapple? Inquiring minds etc. xD
-I still cannot believe Bela Talbot was only on the show for six episodes lmao. Her presence still lingers in the watchers’ heads so much?? Which is understandable because she’s Lead Girl Material if there was ever any lol. The care with which they styled her even?? You don’t do that for just any character lmao (I mean, just look at most of SPN’s female characters for comparison xD).
Her ship with Dean could’ve really been something, too -even if I hate Dean in it, I can’t deny it packs a punch, narrative-wise. I mean, the Batcat undertones alone!! The fake married undercover shenanigans!! And I think it’s really interesting that she’s such a blind spot for him; Dean’s unusually intuitive about people, but with Bela he takes everything at face value and she can fool him like no other (while, OTOH, is Sam who questions her facade and wants to see more). If he hadn’t been such an idiot (and such an asshole) he could’ve had a really powerful ship. Sucks to be him lol.
Anyway. Man, I love her. So much. I love how Gordon’s threats to kill her don’t work on her, and I love that the show basically said “Bela killing her abusive parents is good, actually” (I’m so tired of forgiveness narratives, you guys. This entire show is founded on revenge, so let me get my revenge fantasies in peace!!) xDD. And I love, LOVE that she withheld that truth from Dean, that she decided he wasn’t worth it. OTOH, you know, fuck the fans that got her written out, definitely; but on the other, I do love how her story ended (and that it was a clear "fuck you" to shitty fans). Doesn’t stop me for wanting to read and re-read (and maybe write!) even more “Bela escapes hell” fix-its, but still.
Also, very important question: what happened to her cat?? It’s the cat alright?? I’m going to headcanon that she left them with that cougar friend of hers lol.
-So. THE DEAL. Okay. Oof. I love this storyline, a lot. A loooot. I love the conflict it creates between the brothers (as long as there’s still conflict and Sam hasn’t yet started taking everything lying down I can enjoy that part of their narrative lol). I love Dean’s initial forced giddiness about “making the most out of his last year” and I love the moment Dean decides he does want to try to live because it makes the last few episodes all the most desperate and cruel (and hey, I’ve heard he only went to hell because the season was cut short due to a writers’ strike... if that’s true that’s so funny lmao).
My absolutely favourite part however? That you can FEEL Dean’s unvoiced resentment towards Sam. For Dean having to die for him, even if Sam never asked him to. He lashes out to Sam repeatedly through the season, but it really came to ahead in the dreamspace episode, where Dean confronts another version of himself that talks about how Sam was “dotted on” (the revisionism asldfkaf). This show is absolutely ruthless when it comes to showing you its characters’ ugly, unfair reactions to things and it’s my favourite thing evah.
Speaking of the dreamspace episode, OMFG. I loved both brothers there. Dean’s hallucination, seeing himself as a demon? And how he let out his anger about John?? Beautiful, truly (regarding John, I also loved their different reactions when it looked like his spirit had contacted them: Dean jumping on it and Sam detached skepticism). But my favourite part has to be when Sam uses the villain’s abusive father against him. Like. Damn. That was cold-blooded o.0
The second-to-last episode, when Sam tracked down that Frankenstein doctor to try and make Dean immortal was ABSOLUTELY HORRIFYING OMG. I loved that. I love that Sam wanted to use it for both them. It was some scary shit. I also love the scene where the crossroads demon questions whether Sam really wants to break the deal, I’m gathering it’s going to be nice foreshadowing later on in the show lol.
Anyway. I also found Dean’s death scene more impactful than Sam’s. Partially because of the horror of it, but mostly because I think at this type of scenes, Padalecki is better. Sam’s grief felt more real, Dean’s got me out of the scene (it’s the voice, I think. Sometimes Ackles’ voice takes me out of scenes, it sounds... forced).
I also really enjoyed how the time loop episode wrapped around this subplot. It managed to be both heartbreaking and mind-numbly hilarious lmfao. Like?? All the deaths?? Were so pathetic?? I tip my hat to Ackles because I don’t think most actors could carry plots like this half as well lmfao.
Sidenote, it’s always a trip to see The Trickster God knowing that fucker is Gabriel. Archangel “hey Mary do you accept God knocking you up” Gabriel. Which I guess isn’t exactly a thing in this show?? Since according to the wikia SPN Jesus was “just a man” (and let me tell you, I’m tickled pink by the fact that out of ALL mythological figures, specifically all CHRISTIAN mythological figures, the show decided to go “nah” on Jesus Christ. I mean, I guess he’d take away from Dean’s, Sam’s and Castiel’s resurrection narratives, but still. It’s so funny!!).
-Gordon Walker remains a superbly acted and fascinating character with extra racist nonsense alsdkfjasdf. But I can’t deny I loved seeing him as a vampire. He was terrifying. And I’m definitely shipping him with Kubrick, ouch xD
-The Ghostfacers episode is... something. As in, incredibly exploitative and homophobic and with an egregious case of BYG (and the first where I’d say it’s incontestable to claim the trope was used. s1 and s2 are muddy territory given the circumstances, IMO, but this one is 300% BYG), but so successfully manipulative my heart hurt for Corbett and Corbett x Ed still. Fuck them for that ngl. I do still enjoy how anti-Winchesters they all are though xD
-3x01 introduces the one nice marriage of hunters so far, between a black couple. The man dies in a gross, horrifying way within the episode ofc (because he was Mean to the the brothers duh). She makes it out alive, and since she doesn’t reappear in the show she gets to live. So for now black women have a sliiiiiightly better track record in SPN than track guys there: they get to appear in a few more episodes and be more fleshed out (Victor, Gordon), but as long as they’re only in one episode they get to live!! (Cassie, Tamara).
-Rufus and Bobby are exes, right? Right?? Probably still married in some state? You know that post about how when gay marriage was legalized across the USA there were a lot of issues because some couples had split and never bothered to divorce, since it was only legal in one place? That post was made for them. Pity Rufus is a black man, and as such has a limited number of allowed appearances before he’s killed off ¬¬
-I would’ve enjoyed Dean’s moments with Lisa and Ben more (it’s just so RIGHT that in this moment he’d want Ben to be his) if my knowledge of future spoilers didn’t perpetually have me in a state of “pls keep this guy away from kids” lol.
-They had Harmony’s actress (BTVS) and they made her a vampire!! The show’s hard on for the Buffyverse is a bit of a hit and miss but I can’t say I don’t relate xDD.
-I know Jensen Ackles can sing (in fact thanks to youtube I know a few of the actors can... is there a musical episode. Does this show have its own OMWF. I need to know). So why. WHY. Does he sound like that during “Dead or Alive”??? I actually like the scene but he sounds so off-key lmao.
-BTW, I found out that apparently Katie Cassidy and Lauren Cohan originally auditioned for each other’s roles añslkdfjasf. I can’t picture it. Ruby 1.0 is Ruby 1.0 and Bela is Bela xD. Although I’ve seen each playing roles that could meld with the other, just. Nope. Good choice on the casting there lol.

Going in blind: Watching season 1 for the first time. Random thoughts.
Tumblr media
This show is kind of nice because I have no memories of the original She-Ra show, or even any of He-Man, honestly. I'm not sure if I ever watched the original, so I have no frame of reference for how the series is "supposed" to be. I can just take it and judge it as is.
Of the bat, all I know is that supposedly She-Ra and Catra get together as a romantic couple later, but I'm also a huge My Hero Academia fan and the fandom around me ships every character with every other character, so for all I know that might just be shipper wishful thinking I've been seeing and hearing. Given fandoms for Gravity Falls, Thor, and Supernatural ship even siblings together, I've learned not to trust anything except for what I see in the series for myself.
By the way, this isn't a review, just random thoughts and comments I'm having as I'm going through season 1 for the first time.
Episodes 1 and 2: Right off, I really like Catra's "No duh" response to Adora about the truth of the horde. She knows they've been lying to them and have been doing terrible things, she just doesn't care. If she and Adora play their cards right they could end up being the ones in charge and then they'd have all that power. Not necessarily to make things better but enough to where they could do whatever and live however they want. That's a good build for an antagonist. Not ignorant to the fact what they're doing is wrong, just simply so selfish that they don't care.
Episode 3: It really feels like there was no good reason why Glimmer didn't just outright introduce Adora to her mother and every reason she should have known it was a bad idea to try and hide her for a surprise. Being a former horde soldier she'd probably get treated with hostility if Glimmer brought her to the front gate but you'd almost guarantee Adora would get arrested or outright killed if she got caught while no one else knew she was there.
On the other side, we have Hordak being pretty intelligent in promoting Catra. He probably knows Shadow Weaver already doesn't like him, so it's not like he's losing anything making her upset with him, and it's clear she favors Adora way more than Catra, so that little bit of advancement towards Catra probably goes a long way in earning her loyalty to him and a person on the inside with Shadow Weaver.
Also, I'm not the only one who saw Madam Razz and immediately thought Adora had found her Yoda, right?
Episode 4: I don't know how it was in the original She-Ra and He-Man series but I kind of like She-Ra being this title from legend. Adora is not the first She-Ra, given what Razz was talking about with a Mara, so instead of being something new, impressing everyone with abilities they've never seen before, and creating the legend, Adora is placed in a position WAY over her head where she's having to live up to what came before her.
Episode 5: Calling it now, as long as her personality is genuine I think Scorpia is going to be one of my favorite characters in this show. She's...endearing, I think is the best word. She's like a mix of Kronk and a nicer Shego.
For a little bit I thought Mermista was voiced by the same actress who played Poison Ivy in the Harley Quinn animated series. She's not but they do have the same kind of Daria-ish inflections, thus by confusion. Given the prom episode, Sea Hawk feels kind of like her Kite Man.
Episode 6: Okay, now it's between Scorpia and Entrapta who are likely to be my favorites by the end of this. She's fun and quirky.
Episode 7: Quite the lore drop. Shadow Weaver was once a Mystacor sorceress known as Light Spinner. I like to imagine we'll get more on that later. Her haunting Adora reminded me of the Teen Titans' episode where Robin was similarly haunted by Slade. This didn't go as far as that but that's probably for the best, since TT had two and a half seasons to build that dynamic up with Robin and Slade while we're only now halfway through the first season.
Episode 8: Well dang. Again, I don't know for sure if Adora and Catra do end up together but boy do I buy why they're shipped together after that dance. Also, good on Bow for standing up for himself. It's clear that he'll always be Glimmer's friend and this won't change that but that doesn't mean he has to just accommodate her. I understand where her issues stem from but I am still glad he gave her a reality check. It helps him feel a little more like his own character.
Also, another nice little bit of lore and worldbuilding. Scorpia's a princess, the horde landed where her people lived, and they seemed to join them willingly.
Episode 9: Surprisingly don't have a lot to say about this other than I don't buy for a second that Entrapta is dead (EDIT: She's not). This was mostly action.
Episode 10: Not going to lie, this one kind of annoyed me a little, at least the first half. The conversation between Glimmer and her mother saved it a bit. It was a bit of a trifecta. You have the alliance breaking apart, saying that the loss of Entrapta only happened because they were all together...even though Entrapta only "died" because of her own machine obsession that caused her to deliberately walk back into the purging chamber. You have Entrapta who might be turning to the horde's side because she feels abandoned by the other princesses...even though they thought she was dead, and again it was her fault they got separated. And you have Glimmer refusing to tell her mother that Shadow Weaver's dark magic has caused her powers to go on the fritz and is causing her great pain. It just feels like none of this would be an issue if most of these people would stop being self-absorbed for three seconds and talk like any normal person would. It feels very CW drama, like something I'd see in a bad season of Arrow or The Flash. The only person whose issues I buy is Adora, who is basically a soldier who was never properly raised to deal with emotion or loss and is already struggling with the burden of being She-Ra, the legendary savior. I get why she's beating down on herself for not being able to do more even if nothing that happened was her fault.
Episode 11: JEEEEEEEEEZZZZ, that was such a good episode! Focused entirely on Adora and Catra and their past together. Like, just showing someone this episode alone could probably get them to want to watch the series. That was everything you needed to know about their dynamic and history together.
Also, that moment when Catra and her past self are looking at each other, while obviously Catra takes the opposite lesson, it reminded me of this fanart I'd once seen of Jason Todd, the Red Hood, looking at his past self as Robin. The past says to the future "You ruined everything". Catra could be happy but, ironically for someone who hates Shadow Weaver, she's probably going to be a lot like her, sacrificing everything for power and ambition.
Given the way she looked, I'm guessing Shadow Weaver is either addicted to the power of the Black Garnet or she suffered some kind of past injury and its power is the only thing keeping her going. Or both.
Episode 12: I'll be honest, Swiftwind being able to talk kind of gobsmacked and I needed a moment to recover. What a great voice they chose for that character.
So She-Ra is kind of like the legendary heroes from Rising of the Shield Hero, coming from a long line of people chosen to wield the sword. I tend to dislike chosen one types of stories because I think prophecy takes a lot of weight out of the character's actions, so this and Avatar are more what I like. The MC is special but not the only one who's ever been special and they can still easily fail. Their destiny was only to be able to use the weapon, not that they would succeed in any specific purpose.
And dang, Catra's turn against Shadow Weaver happened faster than I thought it would but I'm not complaining. That great "This is what you've really been preparing me for" speech and Hordak, again, being an intelligent villain. "Oh, this experiment could net me a MASSIVE gain and all it could potentially cost me is this rock I already gave away to someone who lately hasn't been producing any results and has been consistently disobeying me. Yeah, I'm going to let this play out."
Episode 13: That was kind of a brutal fight between Adora and Catra. Not the worst I've ever seen even in other shows for this age range (Samurai Jack, for example) but those punches are connecting and those claws are leaving marks.
Also, maybe I'm just misunderstanding the exact situation but shouldn't the good guys' side be called the Resistance instead of the Rebellion? Being a rebellion would imply they are rebelling against an established power or rule over them, but the actual conflict we are shown is the established power and rule that is the kingdoms of Eternia resisting an outside force that wishes to establish a new order over them.
Season 1 verdict: I'm into it. I'm definitely more invested in the villains' side of things but that's not a fault of the series, that stuff is just way more geared towards me than the current princess stuff. I actively am at attention whenever the horde main characters are on screen. For the good guys it's mostly Adora and the She-Ra stuff I'm invested it. That isn't to say I have any real dislikes for that side. Bow especially I'm liking much more than I thought I might. He has kind of this gravitational pull around him. You will be his friend regardless of how much you might want to resist. He's definitely the rock for everyone else to hold onto.
Minor side note, kind of like Korra in Legend of Korra, I love how even when her powers aren't active Adora is shown to still be pretty strong physically with how easily she was lifting people up at the prom.
And I was right, Scorpia is my favorite side character.
On to season 2!

Looks like Hbomberguy's hours long crap is up(publicly).
“Made a legendary animator, his most trusted colleage (shows Shane) and two-”
People he outright went to and he acknowledged were better writers, thanks for admitting that HBomberguy and not be an insulting jackass right?
“RWBY’s failures matter because it could have been something-”
So could Twilight- That means nothing at this point other than ‘I made a bunch of headcanons and the show dared to not follow them.’
‘It’s easy to see why this show has such a devote fanbase because it frequently threatens to become good-”
So did Fairy tail (except for real) and that died out. Also you are really chipping away at my goodwill
‘People say what it promised!”
Tumblr media
You mean this?
‘Weaken REAL criticism by being given too much attention-”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hypocritical much douchebag?
“*insert a bunch of sarcastic bullshit mocking critics of RWBY*”
*rolls eyes* You say as you mimick them down to using the DEAD.
‘It’s separated into two eras with issues that don’t necessarily overlap-”
Bull. Fucking. Shit. Most of RWBY’s problems now ORIGINATED in the early Volumes.
“If you’re a fan of the show you’re probably gonna dread what I’m about to say and if you’re a fan of the second half then you’ll probably agree with what I’m about to say-”
Considering you’re stupid sarcasm is just a less smug version of what I do, pretty clear ‘agreement’ and ‘actual good point’ are very different here.
“If you love RWBY and are still gonna watch, thank you and I love you for joining me on this journey.”
Less a journey and more a Seven Page Muda but sure.
“My goal isn’t to make people think less of the show-”
Which is why you openly insult it in the beginning.
“-but to think more about it.”
So far you’ve shown about as much understanding of the show as FloofArtist, complete with hypocrisy. And considering what I’ve heard about your video, you’re not getting better.
“I hope to give credit where credit is due-/It’s said failure is the best teacher-”
Which is why you openly insult people.
“’Rooster Teeth is starting game development!’ *insert insulting Steam Statistics*’
Fucking wonderful. Like you haven’t already tested my patience.
“*gushes about the Red Trailer after about eight minutes of recaping*”
Cool, eight minutes wasted on knowledge that EVERY RWBY fan knows. Literally every RWBY fan knows the origins of RT and Monty and the bitch basic knowledge of how they came together. You seem to have targeted this to RWBY fans and yet to blab about shit that you get after looking at the fandom for 2 seconds.
To say nothing of how you prove something was wrong with the Red Trailer. Namely, you never mention a plot, a personal conflict, a display of character or anything other than ‘cool music!’ and ‘animation!’ despite the show being pretty plot dependent.
*Gushes about the White Trailer*
Yet another bitch basic gushing with nothing of substance to it. For a guy who says he wants people to think critically about RWBY, you sure don’t do that for what is considered the basis of the show. It’s just talking about shit you like instead of anything worthwhile.
*Yet more gushing with the Black Trailer.*
... You know, I watch these kinds of videos searching for some kind of intellectual stimulation. Something to make me think and engage with. Right now, I get more stimulation and engagement from RWBY itself than a supposedly critical video that doesn’t even have to bother with anything original.
“The show already has generic monsters who just want to destroy humanity and yet you have written your characters to act exactly the same-”
And within your own bitching, you discovered the counter. The Grimm have nothing really to explore about them outside giving them variations and powers whereas the human characters can have these things called ‘motives’ and ‘reasons’. Not to mention even you would say people act like that in real life *cough* anyone NOT of your political alignment *cough*.
“And the audience is left with one lingering though...he can make that jump.”
youtube
How does it feel that Family Guy did a better version of your joke?
“She’s written like two adult men who have never written anything professional before except Red Vs. Blue wrote a Teenage girl-”
.... Monty wrote her based off her voice actress.  You’ve also made me regret ever using this same insult against Miles and Kerry so congrats on that.
*Even more gushing...*
You know, I am legitimately considering rewatching the Persona episode of Game Theory because at least MatPat’s faffing about is short and he has more content in his first eighteen minutes than this.
“More people have gone back to watch the trailers than watch actual episodes of the show!”
The trailers are the first thing people would watch to know about the series- no shit they’d be higher in view count.
“It’s so hard to not be onboard with the trailers!”
It’s actually very easy, especially in their release.
Why? Simple, a lot of the depth in the trailers only exists with context from the show itself. The White Trailer is cool and all but it’s symbolism and deeper meaning comes from Weiss’ backstory and the truth depth of Blake leaving Adam and what it causes is found in the show, the two best trailers while Red is just mindless fun that you can get better from other places and Yellow is just kind of neat.
How the fuck am I the more critical of the two of us so far?
“Then the show actually came out and it was terrible-”
Piece of advice, don’t follow this up with a super janky, uncanny valley 3D animation that makes Volume 1 look appealing.
“RWBY isn’t just a bad show, it’s a bad show that could have been something-”
*cracks neck*
The idea that RWBY or any show ‘had potential’ is most often used when a person once had a fondness for the property in question but has long since lost the goodwill to see it in a positive light, trying to make up for the cognitive dissonance of the conflict between liking what it once was and disliking what it is now. The issue here is that these so called ‘issues’ are born of the original creator who either founded the show or helped found it which means that it was pretty much DESTINED to be this way as the creator’s specific interpretation of their own work is what resonated with you in the first place and was likely built up to in the subtle inner workings of the show, thus making the big changes you want so badly would cause a ripple effect that would have affected your past impression of the show because everything in a show is connected. And in all likelyhood, your impression would have soured no matter what.
Tl;Dr- ‘It had potential!’ is self defeating and stupid.
‘The creators are receptive to criticism!...well, they try to be.-”
Oh boy I can’t wait for Mr. ‘kill half of all babies’ to try and speak about THIS topic.
“You don’t engage with any of the good faith criticism and just reward shitty people with attention. And I hope to show them that as a lifelong fan of RT and Monty Oum, that I’m saying this thinking RWBY could have been good...and still could be.”
Says the man who when referencing Miles for the first time, actively SEPERATED him from being a ‘treasured college’ of his friend and insulted him with Yang even though the fault lied with MONTY.
All while referencing a tweet where he chews someone out for saying EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE SAYING ( ‘God this is why i hate this fandom. You miss the point. If I critise the show I'm a hater because you worship it. I'M OFFERING CRITISM U IDIOT SO THE SHOW SEES ITS FAULTS AND FIXES THEM. HOW THE FUCK CAN U KEEP MOVING FORWARD IF YOU DON'T IDENTIFY YOUR OWN FAULTS AND LEARN’). Yeah great job there jackass- How exactly are you any different from this fucker?
So that’s my thoughts on the first twenty or so minutes. Can already tell it’s gonna be shit.

Illuminated (One Shot pt.1)
{Part 2}
Fandom: MCU
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Female OC
Chapter Summary: **One-shot series. Now that Steve made his choice to fight against his own team, he has to live with the consequences even if it means leaving behind the one person he couldn't possibly forget about. Seren Soul isn't a woman he can easily forget. He just never has the right words, much less the bravery he needs, to tell her everything. It's then Seren who starts a dance of caution with him, after they're forced to separate, in an attempt to figure out what those words he couldn't say to her were.

If someone once told her where she would be standing today, she would've laughed in their face. Or maybe she would've been a little bit rude about it. But really, how would she have ever guessed that one day she would be standing in a beautiful, hidden, civilization in Africa? Wakanda. A terribly underestimated place. It was too bad that none of her attention could focus on the beauty of it, the genius of its architecture.
No.
Her attention was on what was coming. What had happened was already done and there was nothing she could do to go back and prevent it. She was stuck with this future and its uncertainty, its cruelty for a lack of a better word. It wasn't the end of the world, persay, but it was for her.
"Agent Soul," she heard her name from a distance.
Agent Seren Soul tore her gaze from the glass wall to see the King of Wakanda himself coming up to her. She fixed her body posture that'd been slacking and slouching as soon as she was alone (the grim thoughts were clearly getting the best of her). "Has it been done?" she asked quietly. Her voice may have been frail but it was also better to speak quietly for precaution.
"In a moment," T'Challa answered. "They are saying goodbye."
"Ah," Seren chewed on her bottom lip. "Will he really be safe here?"
"Wakanda is the only place no one would be able to get through without our noticing. Like I told Steve, this is the best option."
Seren nodded. She looked past him when she spotted Steve coming out of the room. It'd been done. Bucky was gone again.
"I will give you a moment," T'Challa said and walked past Steve. They exchanged a couple words that Seren couldn't hear, making her even more anxious. She suspected plans were already being made and she wouldn't know a thing about details.
At last, Steve came up to her. She felt ridiculously nervous but they weren't misplaced. "Are you okay?" she eventually asked him.
"He'll be good here," he said, though it sounded a lot like he was still in the process of convincing himself.
"Bucky made the right choice," she assured him. She laid a hand on his arm and offered him a smile. What else was there? No words would ever be able to comfort him after losing his best friend yet again. "And you know that he'll eventually come back." Maybe that one would mean something.
"I'm afraid of the 'when', to be honest," Steve admitted. He had no idea when Shuri would be able to pull all the brainwashing out of Bucky's head. "But I have to focus on what I have right now and what I need to do."
Seren felt her nerves rising. This was the conversation she was deeply afraid of having. The others. Everyone who had fought alongside him were arrested and incarcerated. She knew very well that Steve wasn't going to just forget that. "What are you going to do?"
Steve's eyebrows raised slightly, his expression indicating he already had thought of a way to go about it. "It's best if you don't know." He really preferred that way. Seren had done her best to lessen the tension between him and Tony but in the end nothing had worked. They fought and now they were here. Steve wasn't going to risk Seren's status for the likes of him. He'd already dragged everyone else down. Never Seren.
Seren shook her head. "Oh, don't do that."
"I will because they're going to go to you first. You may be a CIA Agent but they know very well what you are to," —he cleared his throat, "—me."
Seren deliberated upon hearing those words. She ignored (or rather tried to ignore) the skip of her heart. "What...what exactly does that mean?"
Steve looked her dead in the eye. "Seren, they might not know everything but they know enough. We were close..." More than close at one point, and they both knew it. It was perhaps the reason Seren turned her head away from him. She crossed her arms, letting her fingers drum against her skin. Her nervous tell. He'd picked up on it almost as soon as they met. "They could think that you helped me."
"I would help you," she whispered.
Steve had no doubt in his mind that she would help him; she'd risk her own job in the process just to help him escape. "I know." She flinched lightly when his hand touched her arm. "Seren, please, let me go."
Seren finally gave him her gaze. He almost wished she hadn't. Her usually cheery green eyes were shiny with tears. "You're telling me to let you go after everything?"
"Well—"
"Everything," she reiterated with a strong emphasis beckoning him to think about what she meant. It wasn't fair to ask that of him when they had both agreed to never bring it up again, but she was desperate, and scared...and so, so out of her element here. "If you can do it so easily then I envy you."
"No, I can't," Steve admitted in the quietest of voices. How could he ever forget that night between them? They both agreed it happened suddenly but Steve knew better, at least in regards to him. It wasn't random, it didn't just happen. There were reasons it happened...for him at least.
His feelings for Seren started a long time ago. She was utterly kind, always professional and most of all loyal. She had dedicated her life to S.H.I.E.L.D., working hard and striving to help the others. She was one of the first people he'd met after waking up and very quickly found her to be about the only agent—the only person—he could trust. He could trust that she didn't hide secrets like most agents (or director for that matter) and she plenty of secrets that made her a potential target (like the fact she wasn't entirely human). They worked well together. They made a good team. Somewhere along the way, he started paying more attention to her, whether it was her sparkly green eyes or her pink cheeks or sweet laugh. His favorite thing about her had turned out to be her sweet laugh because it always ended up happening when he failed to catch up to the modern world. While he would typically be embarrassed, she would just laugh softly and teach him.
She was timid, even. She with her alter-ego known to be powerful and literally out of this world. Stardust. She who could take down flocks of enemies. Yes, she was timid and so very real. They spent most of their time together, whether it was at S.H.I.E.L.D. or outside. Even when the teasing started, they collectively ignored it and focused on whatever they were doing that day. Steve could vividly remember the exact moment he knew he'd fallen for her.
She introduced him to the sweet delicacy of cinnamon rolls with pecans. It was her favorite pastry and she was sure that he would love it. They were sitting at a table with said pastries in front of them. They looked a bit different from what Steve was used to, naturally, and he'd been a little hesitant to try them.
Seren laughed softly. She brought an arm over the table and rested her cheek on her palm. "You gotta do me the favor of at least trying it," she said. She'd picked up his fork and cut a piece of the cinnamon roll for him to taste. She then held it to him. "Please?" She hadn't pressed further but her expression was what got him in the end. He'd taken the fork from her and slowly brought it to his mouth. She laughed again, looking away from him when she pointed out, "I'm not trying to poison you, you know. Expand your palate. Tomorrow we're trying pumpkin cheesecake." It was such a small moment, a casual moment, domesticity if you will, and it was then that Steve realized they'd been having these types of moments for a while now. They made simple plans like these and he liked them. He never really had that with a woman. And he realized these plans had been going on for a while. He wanted to do what she wanted. He liked seeing her smile when it happened that he liked whatever she showed him. Little by little, that desire to see her smile would eventually expand. No longer would he just want to see her smile, he wanted to hold her hand whenever possible. He wanted to be close to her, and alone if possible. And for reason—some God lucky reason—it was easy to do.
For a moment in his life, he dared to believe that Seren was knowingly letting it happen. How else would they explain the one night they were alone for a celebratory dinner where they ended up far closer than any other moment in their lives? Their sudden first kiss, the slow touches that soon led them to forget all about being 'cautious'—Seren had wrapped her arms around him, practically begging him not to leave her there. He, hopelessly in love, was a goner. He held her tight and didn't let her go until the next day. But when the sun came up, things had changed and suddenly they were agreeing that it'd been a mistake. Just a mistake. A mistake.
Years later, the pain still rippled through Steve like it was a fresh wound. He met Seren's eyes, more serious than before, "I didn't forget, Seren. You did."
"I di—"
"You're the one who said it was a mistake. You were very quick to act like nothing ever happened."
Seren pursed her lips, her eyes darting to the side. That stung but it was fair, very fair. "I had to," she whispered.
"You 'had' to?"
"Yes, I had to—"
"What on Earth forced you to—"
"I had to!" Seren exclaimed, quieting him down for a moment. "Because-because I was working with the CIA and you went with Stark! You had your own missions and I didn't want to get in the way; I didn't want to distract you." She swallowed hard and forced herself to meet his gaze even when she was sure that she was looking more like a mess as the seconds ticked by. "You had your plans set and I would never want to get in the way of them."
Plans. Steve knew exactly what those plans were. "I was trying to find Bucky..." Seren nodded. "But Seren, you wouldn't have 'distracted me'. It would've made a huge difference having you there with me."
"I'm sorry," Seren said. Her tears were rolling down her cheeks. "I'm really sorry. I wasted our time, I know, but I can't let you go again. Not for...for this injustice."
Steve remembered another reason why he loved her. She always stood by his side, even when he made some not-so-good decisions. He took a step closer to her and rested his hands on her shoulders. "I need to go and if you come with me, you're a fugitive too. You're still an Agent and the best one the CIA has. You like your job, you like the missions, I know you do. You have a family. Your parents, your grandmother, they would lose it if you came with me. And I know that you don't want to leave them behind. That's okay. I could never ask you to sacrifice everything for me."
He probably deserved a lot better than her. Seren raised her head to meet his gaze again. "I..." Would she be that imprudent, that unfair, to say she loved him? Her heart pinged with pain. She couldn't do that to him. He didn't deserve a confession like this—if he even cared for it anymore. He'd been under the assumption that she'd chosen to forget what happened, after all. Maybe it was too late.
Steve moved his hands to cup her face. His thumbs cleared the tears from her cheeks. "It's okay..."
"Is it?"
"Yeah, because you're going to go back home and you're going to keep being you. That's the best thing you can do for this world because after what we did to it...it'll desperately need your help." Seren laughed in the lightest of ways, but it was exactly what Steve wanted to hear. He loved it. "Who better to fix the world than Stardust, right?"
"I really want to cry and you're not letting me," she sniffed.
"Good!" He smiled. The urge to tell her everything he felt was big but he wouldn't be stupid enough to come out with that nonsense. She had way too much to deal with already. He loved her but...she didn't need to know. The chances of her feeling that much for him were slim, really slim. "I, um, I have to go."
Seren nodded. "I won't even bother asking if I'll see you soon..."
"It'd be too dangerous right now. You're the first person they'll go to when...when I do what I'll do." He already felt terrible for what would inevitably happen with her after he broke everyone else out of prison.
"Stay safe," Seren whispered, bringing her hands over his on her face. "Please. Natasha's going to keep you out of trouble but...she's not a miracle worker."
Steve chuckled. "I will do my best."
They spent a minute in silence just staring at each other. For a moment they both believed there was something that the other wanted to say to them. In the end, neither said a word.
"Bye, Seren," Steve lowered his head to leave a kiss on Seren's forehead. It was the only thing left for them now.
Seren felt a chill when Steve pulled his hands from her. She shouldn't have missed it as much as she did in that moment. "Bye..."
He said what he was capable of and now he had to leave. Steve took in a breath and walked around her without looking back. He didn't know what would happen if he looked back but it probably wouldn't bode well for his plans.
Seren stayed right where she was for several more minutes. She was trying her best not to lose it but her body was trembling. She'd wasted her time with Steve and now he was gone. God she was stupid.
"Agent Soul," she heard and immediately sought to put herself together before the King saw her. "Agent Soul, everything is ready for when you decide to leave."
Seren swallowed hard, pushing the tears away to put on a more suitable and appropriate face for conversation. "Yes, thank you so much."
"Of course," T'Challa said. He looked past Seren for a moment before speaking up, albeit quieter. "I thought you might want to have this."
Seren blinked when she saw him hold out a small device that resembled a watch. One of Shuri's inventions for sure. "What-what is that?"
"It's a communications device, an odd one but my sister Shuri assures me that it is better than your typical type of communications device."
"Why's that?"
"There is no audio to leave a record behind. It's more of an advanced computer. You type a message and it'll send it to the other pair."
"Other pair?"
T'Challa smiled. "I gave the other to Steve in case there was ever a situation where he might need to contact somebody."
Seren's eyebrows raised together. Many things were racing in her mind right now and 99% of them had to do with the possibilities she had her fingertips now. "Thank you," she eventually said. "I-I don't even know what to say..."
"I believe that is what this is for," T'Challa tapped a finger over the device, making her chuckle for the briefest of moments.
Yes it was but now Seren had to come up with what to say.
~ 0 ~
Steve had been right. The moment they got word of the "break in", Seren found herself at the center of questions and demands. Had she been anyone else she might have crumbled under the pressure, especially when a lot of her first days were spent in the company of Thaddeus Ross. "Company" was a loose term for nonstop interrogation.
"You know it would be a lot easier if you just told them what they want to hear," Tony was the usually the first one she spoke to after her interrogations. As it was, the doors to the compound were still very much open to her. But Seren was no fool to think it would be completely tension free. Moments like these were proof enough.
She walked up to Tony with a bit of a sway in her steps. "Oh, I did say some words alright. Just no the ones they were hoping for."
"You know you can't hide Rogers forever, right?"
"I'm not hiding him anywhere—to hide him, I'd have to know where he is."
Tony raised an eyebrow at her. "You really don't know where he is?"
"You can give me all the lie detectors you want," Seren reminded him. She'd told him that the first moment he insinuated she would know where Steve and the others ran to. "I don't know where he is but I do know where my room is...am I clear to go there right now?"
As hard as Tony wanted to be, he always cracked in the end. His problem wasn't with her, nor with the others with Steve for that matter. "Yeah, you're good Twinkle Star."
Seren pointed a finger at him, lips pursing at the terrible nickname she just couldn't get rid of. The tiny smile on Tony's face didn't help either. She dropped her hand to her side and headed for her room. She locked the door behind her and threw her purse on the bed, or so she thought. She heard her things fall out from the foot of her bed. With a sigh, she went to collect the stuff from the floor.
She soon came across the communication device T'Challa had given her. To say she'd forgotten all about it would be a complete lie. She held it gingerly in her hands, unsure whether or not to put it away just like her other things. Despite the heavy interrogations she'd been put under, most of Seren's thoughts were of what to say if she decided to use the device. She wasn't even sure if Steve knew she had the other piece—T'Challa hadn't exactly been clear about that. Would he know it was her?
Of course, if you know the right thing to say! If she said something only they knew about, he would know it was her. Would he...respond? That, she wasn't sure and she was very afraid the answer would be 'no'. They'd left important things unsaid but the more Seren thought about what she had wanted to say, the more fear she felt. She knew exactly what she had wanted to say to him in their last moment but fear won out and she kept silent. Now it killed her that she'd kept silent.
Maybe that's what you should say, stupid! Seren shook her head as soon as that thought crossed her mind. No, she couldn't just write that to him like it was a simple sentence. A confession like that deserved to be in person and that was definitely not happening anytime soon.
But still...
What if by the time they were able to see each other—if they were ever able to see each other—the feeling was gone. Or worse, Steve didn't believe her. Seren slowly sat on the foot of her bed. She looked down at the device in her hands. Do something before it kills you! She gripped the device. You're clever, you always know what to say so say something! Anything that says it without saying it. Seren glanced at her bed stand where a small book still rested just as she left it. The poem book that Steve had given her for one of her birthdays. It'd been a mix of delightful poems that included a few sweet ones she once had courage to read with him.
An idea popped into her head.
Whether it was a good one or not, she'd rather not think about it lest she want to lose courage. She crawled over the bed until she was able to take the book into her hands. She flipped through the pages, stopping on one of her favorite poems. Doitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoit! Before he knew it, she was writing it out on the device.
You dream with a love,
Pure, unconditional, strong,
Eternal like the sun
One that you draw a passion with
Seren held her breath for an ungodly amount of time after sending it. Steve would recognize her poem and he would either respond with the answer she hoped for or at the very least with an answer kindly rejecting her. But when? She would have to agonize for God knew how long.
~ 0 ~
In the first minute he saw the message, Steve was frozen. He had to have been reading it wrong. Or...or the wires in the device were wrong. He recognized the lines immediately. How could he not, he had bought the poem book after all. He'd picked it up for Seren's birthday last year. She'd gone over every poem with him and this one had been one of her favorites. He loved it too but for obvious reasons.
That's when he wondered if it was the same reason that Seren liked the poem.
Their last meeting certainly implied she felt something for him. Now here was this poem, this beautiful poem that spoke nothing but sweet passion and love.
It had to be Seren and no one else sending him this. He would have to believe that somehow the other device T'Challa talked about hadn't been left in Wakanda like he had assumed. It was with Seren. She could message him whenever she wanted to and that definitely raised his spirits. Being on the run—being a fugitive of the law—could somehow be better if he didn't have to lose everything.
So then answer her! If he didn't answer, Seren would take it as if he didn't want to speak with her anymore and that was far from the truth. But what would he say? She said plenty already. How are you afraid to respond? It was true. If he was being optimistic, and perhaps he was, he could take this message as an admission without it actually being an admission. He could do the same.
They would dance over the words they weren't able to say to each other the last time they were together. But at least he would be doing something to show her that he was still there, that like her there was something he felt too...even though he knew exactly what that feeling was.
So, later on when he gathered enough courage to respond, he sent her a message with the same meaning but just as much of a cautious dance.
~ 0 ~
It was late at night when Seren saw her device blinking a light red. She would've missed it if she actually slept but as of late, she was very bad at sleeping. She shifted on her bed to reach for the device on the nightstand. She held it for a few minutes before deciding to be brave and see the message.
You dream with a love,
Clear, with devotion
Free, growing wings to the heart,
To fly where passion nestles
Seren actually felt her heart stop for a moment. She reread the stanzas at least twice before deciding it was actually there. Her lips pulled into a smile, perhaps one of the biggest ones she'd ever had on her face. She held the device close to her and stayed just like that for God knew how long. He had answered her with that. Of all the things he could've said, whether it'd be something polite or rejection, he said that. Those stanzas meant something—they were part of the same poem she'd sent him.
Could it be that he was trying to tell her the same thing she had in the first message?
What else could it be, idiot!? She had to stop over-analyzing this. Steve could've sent her anything and he chose that precise poem. He chose to keep her game going. What else could that mean? But, her brain being cruel, she had to try one more time before letting herself believe it was happening. Her fingers tapped the screen for its keyboard.
Passion is like a restless wind that is converted to freedom
It is knowing that there's someone else who lives wishing to meet you
Seren held her breath when the message sent. As much alien as she was (and she was), she was also human. She had fear and she had doubt just like anyone else. Lucky for her, Steve knew that about her very well. He wasn't surprised she didn't believe him. She never realized that he loved her for years now. Her name meant 'star' and to Steve, that's what she was: a star that illuminated his grim life. She gave him back the light that he never thought he would have after waking up out of the 40s.
It is traveling without fear among the stars and the immensity
It is going through fire, walking on waters, converting a dream to reality.
That should seal the deal.
Indeed it did. When Seren received his next message, she couldn't stop the butterflies erupting in her stomach. It wasn't an admission, it was the cautious dance that she was more than willing to do. It's all they had now.
Passion is an enormous force that moves the whole of creation,
It is knowing there's someone waiting for you beyond where the sun hides
Steve's smile could've matched hers when he first opened the message. For a split moment, he wasn't hiding. His fingers worked faster than ever to respond. If he was lucky, Seren might still be awake for the next one.
It is two souls that unite,
Continuing into to Eternity
Why wouldn't Seren be awake? They had to finish the poem. And she had the honor of giving him the last line.
You'll never miss someone in whom you trust,
They're an angel who takes you by the hand,
Revealing a world of passion
After that, Seren found it easier to sleep through the nights. Not all was lost.

Author's Note:
I'm definitely going to try and add a second piece here because I have some ideas...I just don't know whether to finish it on a happy note or a not-so-happy note...suggestions are always welcomed :)
Full disclaimer that this poem is not a poem but a Spanish song I that love to bits and pieces. I got the translation online and tweaked/omitted some words to fit the story!

Been having a weird/off week. But you know what’s made it better?
Spending some more time in Midvale with Supergirl Ep. 6x06, “Prom Again!”
Spoilers!
So! Last week was the fun shenanigans/set-up, THIS WEEK we get the emotional pay-offs and oooooh. So good. So good.
Historically, Supergirl kinda struggles to stick its landing when it comes to paying off its set-ups, but I think this episode is really solid in that regard.
And thus, we begin! With the forest showdown! And I love it. Love every part of it. Love Kara flying in and freeing Nia and Brainy with her heat vision, love that one of Kenny and Kara’s go-to plays is called ‘Speed Racer’, love Brainy’s whole, ‘my buddy’s gonna BLAST YA if you don’t cooperate’ and Kara just. Threatens the bad guys from the shrubbery.
She’s supposed to be scary and intimidating with the heat vision eyes but dagnabbit...it’s just kind of cute.
Last week I completely forgot to mention how much I love that Kenny and Kara have go-to plays WITH NAMES. (NERDY names at that!) And also that Alex is so exasperated by it.
JUST YOU WAIT, KIDDO.
Fast forward to the Fortress and everyone’s happy! The day is saved! The timeline is restored! Alex apologizes for being a bit of a grouch!
*cough* understatement *cough*
And Brainy doesn’t get the fist bump, d’awwwww. XD
Nia has a lovely chat with Kara wherein SHE is the elder hero who inspires the youths. Nice. NICE.
And THEN, the first of some good Danvers Sisters scenes...we’ll call this one ‘the mini-van chat.’
Kara apologizing about the ‘Zookeeper fight-y thing’ and the GLASSES FIDGET.
Shout out to the writers, who were ON-POINT with the dialogue for both parts, and shout out to the young actresses as well. It’s...honestly uncanny, how well they nailed playing Kara and Alex.
(I mean, we knew this already, of course, but GOSH. What a wonderful showcase. So, so glad, that we got such a large Midvale story in the final season.)
Right, so, another dialogue highlight from the mini-van chat (but like, not in a silly way. More in a, ‘oh wow that’s very sweet’ way) Alex, to Kara about her choice: ‘It’s the right one because you made it.’
THESE KIDS.
Then we go to Nia and Brainy on the Legion Cruiser!
Nia’s outfit? Outstanding. Brainy’s mask? Admittedly a little distracting because it didn’t look like it was fitting quite right.
But A+ song choice for their dance, show.
(Really, A+ song choices across the board. You can tell they were absolutely LOVING getting in all those needle drops.)
And then we discover--ALL IS NOT WELL! THE TIMELINE IS STILL BROKEN!
Cat Grant has released the aliens! And she has been captured! And yet she remains heckin’ fearless!
Love that she calls Mitch ‘Mr. Blue Sky.’
It took me a while to warm up to this ‘new’ version of Cat Grant but this episode really gave her some fun stuff to do and yep, I dig it. Great stuff.
Meanwhile, back at the prom...
I'm taking this moment to applaud the Supergirl folks for their very nice workarounds for ‘crowded’ locations this season thus far. The episodes have never felt like, overtly obvious in terms of Covid protocol impacts (I mean there are a few scenes here and there where you’re like, ‘oh, yeah, this is set up in this specific way to probably account for some production changes) but I’ve never felt that the episodes are losing anything, you know?
Case in point! Two episodes, set in a crowded high school! But most of the stuff takes place before/between classes, or outside!
(Specifically enjoyed all the outdoor stuff and natural lighting. It’s not quite the same as that LA sunshine, but. Still nice.)
Anyways, in “Prom Again!” the action/discussions are set in the hallways/classrooms outside of the actual Prom. Inobtrusive! Makes sense for the story! Doesn’t compromise!
Gold stars for everyone.
Kara and Kenny are BOTH unrelentingly cheesy--Kara even says as much--and it’s wonderful.
‘Hey Stargazer.’ Kara, you smooth operator you.
Shout out to Kenny’s bowtie, it’s great.
...Shout out to Kenny in general.
(Like, Will is great, but he’s got a lot to live up to, now.)
So FURTHER PROOF THAT THE TIMELINE IS BUSTED: Kara is going to stay in Midvale!
:O
Me, knowing full well that Kara has to go to National City, but also being...just a liiiiittle bit team Kenny:
Tumblr media
And then...THE METEOR!
That Kara just. Body-slams.
It reminded me of another Danvers, who also body-slams some space stuff:
Tumblr media
But UNLIKE Kara’s cross-company cousin, this particular move does not end well!
Because there’s KRYPTONITE! And also, a CLOAKED SPACESHIP, BLOCKING THE FALLING METEOR DEBRIS! And, you know, ALIEN HUNTERS THREATENING HIGH SCHOOLERS! And Kenny SACRIFICES HIMSELF FOR KARA!
Tumblr media
(Well, okay. It’s tonight but you get the idea.)
Poor, sweet Kenny. Who feels WAY out of his depth as he’s imprisoned alongside Cat on the alien ship...but it does bring us one of her patented ‘tough love pep talks.’ Wherein she calls Kenny brilliant.
And also, Kendall.
Never change, Cat. Never change.
Also, “Go, go.”
Okay, some more rapid fire specifics that I enjoyed so that this list doesn’t get...too? Long? ...No promises.
Smol Kara squaring her shoulders in that classic Kara Super Pose!
Alex being able to pick a lock!
Kara using the reflected sunlight from the moon to heal!
‘That’s an 80% failure rate’ ‘Oh yes it’s terrible.’
The scene where the police have Kara, and Alex comes rushing out all, ‘that’s my sister!’ and Kara’s gonna just RISK EVERYTHING to fix this?
100/10, excellent, love to see that Danvers Sisters angst in the Worst Timeline. Also? Alex’s desperate little headshake, silently pleading for Kara to NOT DO THE THING???? Devastating. In the best way.
‘The world will know that name...Keira.’
No Plutonian Landshark sightings!?!? Not even a graphic on a computer screen? FOR SHAME!
(Personally, I’m imaging that they look like Jeff, pictured below.)
Tumblr media
Kara stowing away on the Cruiser, and her very cute, ‘Don’t be mad!’
Her entire speech about her future--She’s just seventeen! She doesn’t have her driver’s license yet! Eliza’s only let her do the laundry once! She’s not even sure she can make rice!
(Eliza, I love you, but for Pete’s sake, let your kid do her own laundry.)
Brainy and Kara trying to play it cool upon being discovered by Kenny and Alex!
Their story involving an excess of formal wear!
Nia inspiring Cat to start CatCo, and telling her she’s CAT FREAKIN’ GRANT!
“If you say Lois Lane I will expire.”
Wait, did I mention the lucid dreaming power yet? ...Nia’s lucid dreaming power!
The entirety of Kara and Kenny’s talk in the gym!
Kara in the Worst Timeline tell Alex, ‘you don’t have to shout’. And then in the Fixed Timeline: ‘inside voice please.’
And she quotes Monty Python that lil GOOBER.
THE WHOLE EPISODE(S) was a GOSHDARN DELIGHT, I TELL YA. (Did I say that last week? I might’ve said that last week, but I don’t care.)
And now, some slightly more in-depth, overall thoughts:
So, How ‘Bout Them Danvers: Not surprisingly, the girls end up in, if not the exact same place as the end of “Midvale”, then pretty darn close. I’m trying to avoid, like. All of fandom, these days, but unfortunately, the bad takes are numerous, and often untagged. So I did see a bunch of people insisting that Kenny living ‘ruined the Danvers’ relationship’ and that the show is ‘taking away everything that makes Kara Kara’
To which I say:
Tumblr media
In the broadest terms, what needs to happen by episode’s end to match up with “Midvale”, and prep the kiddos for the stuff that happens in the Pilot - Kara needs to put the aspirations of super-ing on the backburner, and Alex needs to like. Not hate Kara, but also be committed to helping Kara keep her secret, you know...secret.
All of these things are set up. I repeat: All. Of. Them.
And Kenny didn’t have to die!
(I will admit, I chuckled that they so blatantly teased an untimely demise for him...because I know it will annoy select corners of fandom.
Muhahahahaha.)
But anyways, back to those key ingredients for making a ‘Danvers Sisters in the same emotional place they were in @ Midvale’s end’ soup: Alex deals with that simmering resentment. Seeing Kara handle herself well in a super-ing context gives her that little, ‘hey, this isn’t so bad!’ outlook.
BUT INTERESTINGLY, in the Fixed Timeline, Alex and Kara don’t have that chat in the supply room, where Alex is like. ‘You CANNOT reveal your powers, BAD THINGS will happen if you do.’
That is saved for the Pilot!*
MEANWHILE. The Kara ingredients! She puts super-ing on hold.
Her chat with Kenny functions as a replacement for her chat with J’onn-as-Not!Alura, in the sense that it’s here that she reveals that she didn’t choose to come to Midvale, she didn’t choose these powers.
(...I can already sense fandom using those lines to prove their end-of-series theories and like. Ugh. Ugh.)
But anyways. It’s also here that we get shades of Pilot!Kara, what with the season one conflict of being Super vs. being normal.
It’s ALL THE SAME STUFF.
Fandom needs to like. Chill.
And their (fake) concern for Kara’s characterization is entirely misplaced, because this was a really wonderful showcase for Kara in particular.
Like. The first episode was really Nia’s time to shine, and we still got solid Brainy and Nia action in this episode!
But man. That good Kara content.
THE CONTENT I CRAVE!
So speaking of good Kara content in particular, I LOVED Kara’s prom dress. It's got both a SKIRT. AND PANTS!
Amazing.
I know nothing of fashion, but it was very cute, very girly, and okay. Though I hate the comic, the one thing I actually liked about Future State is Kara’s costume. This was similar!
(Thank goodness it looked nothing like the prom dress from Rebirth. That...was a bit of a train wreck.)
(Look, not all comic artists are great clothes designers, it’s just how it is.)
We see the empowerment theme come up with Kara inspiring Kenny; he describes her as ‘an amazing light in a world of darkness’ and tells her that, ‘you changed me, Kara Zor-El.’
We love to see it.
They also agree that stargazing and Monty Python make for the perfect prom these absolute NERDS I love them.
*Quick wibbly-wobbly, timey-whimey note WRT making this episode ‘fit’ with the Pilot: I’m not saying that it 100% does. There’s already the change with the Kryptonite, and the added info/awareness of the DEO.
Those little changes, though, don’t really impact the overall arc of Kara and Alex, the way the emotional stuff might.
Thus! The ‘Pilot’ of Earth Prime, and in fact, the ENTIRETY of the show’s run thus far most likely involved little differences throughout, but the emotional core is very close, if not the exact same.
BUT EITHER WAY, it doesn’t matter, because our Kara and Alex are still our Kara and Alex thanks to the multiple sets of memories!
(So all of fandom’s freaking out is for naught. As it almost always is.)
I bring this up because, again, as much as I talk about setting stuff up for where we find Kara six years from now--this Kara is a little different! She comes across as more confident, something Izabela Vidovic mentioned in an interview, when discussing her approach to playing Kara this time around.
And now, Alex: Admittedly, she gets less focus as like, a solo-entity in these episodes--she really is there to serve the more Kara-centric plot. Personally, it didn’t bother me too much because outside of these flashback episodes, Alex has had some solid development and screen time, so. It balances out.
And the scenes we did get with those 2? Solid. Top tier. There was even a couch scene! Like, technically. Because there was a couch in the supply room. XD
Spotlight on Kenny: fandom kinda loves to insist that all the men on Supergirl are trash, because, ya know. 'Feminism’ or whatever. It’s ships, it’s always ships. But, in fact! The dudes on Supergirl? Are actually wonderful! And Kenny is another example of a guy who isn’t afraid to be emotionally vulnerable, who 1000% supports Kara, but is also like. His own person.
GOOD JOB, SHOW. GOOD JOB.
Brainy too, had some really nice stuff in terms of dealing with his emotions!
And it’s Brainy who gives us our closing line, as Nia asks him how he’s feeling now that they’ve accomplished their mission:
“Hopeful.”
NOICE.
In conclusion! “Prom Night” and “Prom Again!” were EXCELLENT! They had heart! They had stakes! They had the promised time-travel do-over alluded to in the titles! Outstanding performances from the entire cast! Tthe ‘young’ versions of characters in particular! And I WILL be watching these episodes on repeat throughout the three-month hiatus! XD
But before the Super Friends take their break: NEXT WEEK! The Quest for Kara Concludes!!!

hello aijee!! what are your thoughts on mingyu and wonwoo's bittersweet?
Oh anon. Oh anon, anon, anon. I have very many feelings about this remarkable intersection of ley lines. I’m sure the WWxMG spheres of the Internet are in some state of madness, and I felt like my meager offerings would be nothing in comparison. But you are now my excuse to write up a Pandora's box answer that I've done my best to organize below the cut. It’s honestly not that exhaustive, but I have to catch a flight soon.
The short of it is: I really liked it! It was nice to see WW/MG doing something distinctly not hip-hop, or eye candy-centric, or “let’s fight over this random girl for no reason other than to give (female) fans the feeling of being sandwiched between two hot guys.” The urban imagery was also wonderful. I’m a big, big sucker for Japanese films set in cities in the 80s/90s, so this video definitely hit a specific aesthetic nerve for me. ALSO LEEHI MY BAE!!
But, fair disclaimer, I do have some reservations. Nothing is perfect!
The song itself
It was refreshing to hear a softer song with WW and MG doing so much of the vocals. I’m so used to eleven other guys contributing (I’m personally a bigger fan of the group/non-solo tracks), it was almost jarring to hear only two male voices in something very much not hip-hop or rapping. And LeeHi? My ex-YG BABEE?? I honestly wished I heard more of her!! And saw her in the video! Her voice was a perfect addition to a song that sounds more, as its name suggests, bittersweet.
I feel like all three of the artists involved have a much more dynamic range that could have been utilized, even for a muted tone. The song overall doesn’t really stand out to me, especially within Seventeen’s wonderful discography and selection of ballads. The instrumental was kinda weak ngl. But I still very much enjoyed the song! The lyrics from an English-speaking standpoint were also very lovely and definitely struck the heart on my sleeve, as you can imagine from the types of themes I tend to write about. Kudos to MG and WW for participating in it! Always love seeing SVT showing off their creative chops.
The video/cinematography
Frankly, I wasn’t impressed by it. 3.5/5 stars. I’m personally not a big fan of the blurry type of slow motion. I get that, perhaps, it was meant to evoke a sense of reminiscing on old memories, which can be blurry and choppy. But I felt like those extra seconds could have been used for more evocative cinematography between the trio or combinations thereof. There was so much potential to have a more unified sense of “story.” I felt like the acting really carried it, but overall the visual artistry didn’t hold together in my opinion.
I also thought that the imagery paired with the lyrics was often too on-the-nose. (Take this with a grain of salt from someone who doesn’t know Korean, only the official English translations.) In other words, I thought that the shots could be too literal when paired with the lyrics.Yes, yes, eyes are are meeting but something still feels far apart because the girl ain’t lookin at WW. Yes, yes, the scent of a moment fills hands because we see a glass of alcohol in presumably WW’s hand. I do like that the lyrics actually match the video to some degree (since so many Kpop MVs are just dancing in a fancy room), but, again, it felt too one-to-one without much thought otherwise.
Also, those AirPods lmao. I don’t know why, but that took me out of the immersion. WW and MG had one each, and I’d be knocking furniture down at that observation if they both weren’t wearing right-side pods, thus eliminating the possibility of sharing. Imagine!! Turning the act of sharing AirPods into something symbolic! Remembering things when someone else “plays that old tune”, being disconnected and connected at the same time, etc. To think that I’d be yell-writing about the potential symbolism of AirPods...
The duo/trio
My first thought seeing this video was: Are Mingyu and Wonwoo okay with this? They clearly had a say in the lyrics, so I feel like they’re okay. Instinctually, I get concerned about how a company can push idols pairings in official content to the point of undermining the real-life relationship; I felt like WW, as a naturally shyer and introverted person, stepped back from the WonGyu pairing at some point. I think this was a bigger concern in the group’s earlier years, and I feel like they and the fandom have matured significantly over time. Fans reading this are certainly free to educate me on their takes regarding this, since I follow Seventeen’s official content more (as much as I am able to, at least) than fan content, like fancams, and I try not to make too many legit assumptions based on official content.
All this being said, I think they looked really comfortable with each other in the video! Which I loved the most, honestly. The premise didn’t didn’t feel like guys fighting over a girl (yawn). I’m not a fan of the overused K-Pop trope of “let’s have a random girl act as a stand-in for fans to feel like they’re being pursued by their oppars.” I felt like, while MG and WW expressed clear interest in the girl, there was interest expressed in each other as well—especially MG towards WW in my opinion, cont’d below. And the interest was never forced to be romantic, even though it could be! LOVE that for them. (I highly recommend reading up on “queer platonic relationships”, which a friend of mine taught me recently. Made the mistake of writing “romantic” instead of “platonic” so sorry 😬)
Motherfuckin Kim Mingyu AKA my interpretation of the story
*I did read the little summary in the description box about “three longtime friends”, but I’m choosing to ignore it because I don’t think the video portrays that well and I like my interpretation better haha!
That sequence of WW putting a hat on MG, with WW’s fond but exasperated face of a hyung (I’m okay, not okay).
The cut from that shot of WW and the girl breathing heavy and looking at MG, to MG staring vacantly behind a rained-on glass window (I close my eyes but thoughts of you...).
The way MG steps out first into the rain and smiles back at WW in that last sequence of shots (Eyes meeting but hearts apart); MG looks so content despite the sadness usually meant to be evoked by dramatic rain sequences.
As someone who normally connects with WW, I really connected to MG’s character this time around. I interpreted MG’s character as going through a really complex series of emotions towards both the girl and WW, platonic, romantic or otherwise. It’s hard to pin down, but the small age difference between him and WW felt so much more apparent in the MV. I almost got the impression that maybe MG’s character felt new, naive and lost in the city (he has a few shots of wandering or being in front of urban areas). Then he found stability with the girl and WW, the consequence being the whirlwind of feelings he must be experiencing because of them. I wish there was more exposition hinting at what happened to the girl, since she sorta just...blipped out of existence by the end.
At the start of the MV, WW’s character looked like he was at the end of his rope, drinking away his woes, maybe because of what seems like a nice job based on the suit. But then he found solace in the female bartender, who was kind and had open ears. The two of them became friends (maybe more, perhaps one-sided in WW’s disfavor). Then WW met MG through her. He saw MG’s character as a cute dongsaeng to be nice to, mostly on the whims of the girl, even dancing with them after closing time. But maybe WW’s character started having complicated feelings for MG’s character throughout it all. He started seeing MG more (more than the girl? Hard to say), based on how he was staring at MG at the end of the running sequence at around 2:08, not even looking back at the girl. He ended up liking MG so much, that he followed MG into the rain despite them both avoiding it, staying indoors, before the end sequence.
That’s sort of the dirty and quick of my initial thoughts. Honestly, I wish I had the energy and speed to throw out a proper written work because I LOVE stories that are basically just complicated feelings with relationship boundaries that are hard to define. Also, gotta say, that little sassy look the female actress gave at around 0:30 was real cute. 👀

Out Tonight
Fandom: Shadowhunters
Pairings: Clary Fray/Isabelle Lightwood (mentioned Raphael/Simon and Jace/Magnus)
Warnings: None (some drinking but like, they’re at a club)
Clary knew that it wasn't actually the end of her incredibly short-lived relationship with Jace that led to Izzy insisting they got out dancing that night. It was Izzy after all, and this was little more than an excuse to dress up for her. And to strong arm Clary into dressing up too, since Isabelle claimed she was hiding an absolutely gorgeous body under her 'hipster layers'.
She didn't argue too much-- about going out, not her clothes because her clothes were fine-- because clubbing meant dancing with Izzy, and drinking with Izzy, and at the end of the night, making out with Izzy. To be honest, she was more excited about kissing Izzy tonight than she'd ever been for a previous relationship, and maybe that should have clued her in that she was lesbian years ago, instead of realizing it yesterday when she broke things off with Jace. Especially considering that she and Isabelle had been getting drunk and making out on and off for two years now. But whatever, it was better late than never (according to Raphael, Simon’s new boyfriend).
Clary showed up at Isabelle's knowing that the only thing she'd be allowed to retain would be her boots. Sure enough, Isabelle opened the door, looked her up and down, then dragged her inside. "It's a good thing you came early."
"I don't look that bad," she muttered.
"You always look good Clary, but you could look great if you stopped sabotaging yourself."
"Excuse me?" Clary asked, a little offended.
Izzy huffed. "You're trying to attract women, and yet you're wearing a man's shirt?"
"Uh." Clary look down at her shirt, double checking that it was the one she'd picked out earlier. Sure enough, she was still wearing the bright blue v-neck that clung to her. "It isn't?"
"It's a man catching shirt, Clary. Some women like boobs, but it shouldn't be the focus on this outfit." Isabelle started rummaging through her closet, and she pulled something out with a triumphant shout. "Here, wear this," she said, tossing it at Clary.
"This is a shirt."
"On me it's a shirt. On you, it'll be a short dress."
"I'm not that much shorter than you."
Isabelle was too classy to snort, but her expression said it all.
"Oh shut up," Clary said, shaking out the shirt/dress to its full length. "And turn around."
Izzy rolled her eyes but turned. "Normally I'm willing to deal with you and your baggy sweaters with paint and charcoal stains, but we're going to Pandemonium specifically to get you laid, so you have to show some skin."
"We're trying to get me laid? I thought we were going out dancing. Wait- did you say Pandemonium?"
"I did."
"Izzy, what the hell? We'll never be able to get in there, I don't think it matters how much cleavage you show the bouncer."
"Relax, would you? It's all taken care of." There was a note to her tone that Clary didn't trust. If she didn't know better, she would swear that Isabelle was mixed up in something illegal with the number of places she could get into.
"Isabelle..."
"That's not relaxing. I will pull up that Zoolander song if I have to, don't think I won't."
"When did you watch Zoolander?"
"Simon showed me, back when he was still in love with you but thought he liked me." God, that had been an interesting time. Clary was very happy with her birth father in jail for trying to kidnap them, but the journey to get here had been so damn stressful. She never would've met Isabelle, Jace, or Alec without it, but that was a weird way of looking at the situation.
Clary huffed, muttering something about friends conspiring against her under her breath. "Fine, I'm dressed. I hope you're planning on looking like a fucking sex goddess so that we don't look completely ridiculous trying to get in there."
"That isn't relaxing either. I told you to relax." She looked Clary up and down, a pleased smile on her face. "See? You look totally fuckable. Give me a minute to get changed and then we can go."
Clary didn't feel too bad about watching her change because Izzy didn't give a shit about how much skin she showed. The guilt mostly came from the fact that Isabelle thought they were friends and didn't know that Clary was harboring feelings for her.
Izzy didn't look much different from how she normally dressed, in Clary's opinion. The difference between her street outfits and her club outfits was all in her makeup and the way she moved-- according to Isabelle, at least. Clary thought she looked totally gorgeous either way.
*
Instead of getting in line, Izzy strode right up to the bouncer and smiled. "Lightwood, party of two." She had one of her hands in Clary's mostly so Clary couldn't run away-- which she'd tried so many times before that Isabelle didn't give her the opportunity to even think about it anymore-- and when the bouncer lifted the rope for them, she dragged Clary right through.
"How did you get your name on the VIP list?"
"I know someone," she said, smile widening.
"But-"
"Don't worry about it!" Izzy said, having to raise her voice as they got closer to the music. "C'mon, I'll buy you a drink. What're you feeling?"
"Something fruity!"
Izzy nodded, clearly having expected that. Clary didn't know why she even bothered to ask when every single time, the answer was the same. Clary liked the drinks that came out with fruit, a straw, and a violently pink color. Izzy, for some reason, liked vodka mixed with a soda and she never cared which soda it was, as far as Clary could tell.
She dragged Clary over to the bar and placed their order. Someone gave Clary a lingering look, and Isabelle raised an eyebrow pointedly, as if to say 'see? fuckable'. It was hard to be too excited about it though, when all she wanted was to get to the part of the night where Izzy's tongue was in her mouth.
The drinks were placed in front of Izzy, and she picked them both up, handing Clary's to her and staring until Clary rolled her eyes and took a sip. "Happy?"
Izzy put a finger on the bottom of the glass and tipped it up, meaning that she wanted to Clary to keep drinking. "You need to have fun!"
Clary glared at her and started gulping it down, stopping when the glass was half empty.
"Good start! Now drink the rest and let's dance!" Izzy had already finished hers and was now staring at Clary in anticipation.
Clary sagged a bit, but this was how their nights out usually went. Izzy gave Clary however many drinks she thought she needed to loosen up, they danced, sometimes Clary would dance with other people while Isabelle had another drink, sometimes they'd get another drink together, it just depended on the night. Clary finished her drink, and Izzy pulled her out to the dance floor, where they stayed for a few songs.
This time, Clary was the one to drag her off with a quickly shouted explanation of, "I'm tired!"
Izzy was smiling at her, arm around her shoulder. "Okay!"
They were off to the side-- or as much to the side that you could get in a club-- and Clary was wondering if she could get away with asking Isabelle to leave. She'd phrase it like a girl's night out instead of wanting to get away from the loud music, and Izzy would probably say yes. She opened her mouth to say it, then paused. She still didn't know how Izzy had gotten in here, and if she'd spent a lot of money to get them on the list, then it would be a waste to leave so soon.
Izzy's grin widened as she spotted someone over on the couches, and she said, "Come on," as she started walking over to them. When they got close, she raised a hand in greeting. "Magnus!"
One of the men lounging on the couches straightened and smiled brightly at her. He had far more style than Clary could ever have, and even though she didn't like men, she knew he was absolutely gorgeous. The way he was looking at Isabelle was only happy, nothing ulterior, but that didn't mean anything.
Clary's heart sunk as she realized he must be the reason they'd gotten in. Izzy had friends everywhere, but if they were looking at each other like this, it probably went beyond friendship. She tried to keep her disappointment from showing on her face, but she'd never been the best actress.
He got to his feet in one smooth motion. "Isabelle, darling," he said, walking over and kissing the air over her cheek. Somehow, when he did it, Clary didn't feel the need to roll her eyes; it felt-- dare she think it-- genuine instead of a pretentious, dickwad move. God it was no wonder Clary couldn't catch Izzy's interest for more than a single night if this was the sort of person she was competing against. It just fucking figured that Izzy's type in more permanent partners was glamorous-- what Izzy was and Clary definitely was not. She couldn't even irrationally hate Magnus because then he turned to Clary and said, "You must be the friend Isabelle always talks about. Clary?" If he'd said it like he wasn't happy to meet her, this would be so much easier.
She nodded numbly, and he stuck out his hand.
"Magnus. I've heard quite a few good thing about you."
"Can't say the same," she said, more than a little out of it as she shook his hand. A second later, she realized how rude that sounded and blushed bright red as she took her hand back. "I- I mean-"
Magnus laughed, waving her stuttered attempts at an apology off. "It's fine. If she told you anything good, it would be a lie." He winked at Izzy, and Clary blushed harder, which she hadn't thought was possible. She was pretty sure she hadn't turned this red since that time she'd come home to find Izzy riding someone on the living room floor. She really really hoped she wouldn't have to see her and Magnus do anything like that, because just thinking about it was enough of a kick in the nads.
"Thanks for letting us in, Magnus. Clary and Jace broke up yesterday, so she needed a good night out."
"Happy I could help. Speaking of that little golden boy..."
Izzy laughed. "Yes, he's single now. You already have his number, you know."
"Hardly the point when he thinks I am uninterested."
"Not my fault he doesn't notice you flirting."
Clary frowned. "Are you two not together?"
They both shook their heads.
"Oh."
"Aww Clary, you thought I fucked my way to the top. I'm flattered that you think so highly of my abilities, but no, this time we are solely friends." She turned back to Magnus. "How about coffee tomorrow? We can make it a double date. Sort of."
"Nothing before eleven, and I'll be there."
Isabelle nodded and gave him another hug. "I'll text you. See you tomorrow!"
"Nice to meet you!" Clary said, and they walked away. Once they were far enough away, Clary asked, "Double date?"
"You and me and Magnus and Jace, too if I can convince him to come."
"So, you and me would be there as a date?"
Izzy paused. "It doesn't have to be like that, that's why I said it's sort of a double date."
"What if we uh, made it a double date? Like, officially instead of 'sort of'."
"What?" Izzy asked, but it was a I-didn't-hear-you what, not a I-can't-believe-you-suggested-that what.
Clary got up on her tiptoes and Izzy bent down a little so Clary could talk directly in her ear. "We should date! You and me, for real."
Izzy didn't move for several long, heart wrenching seconds. "You sure that's what you want?"
"Absolutely!"
When Izzy pulled back, she had a breathless grin on her face. "Awesome!"
"Great!" Clary said, knowing that she didn't need to, but too happy to stop herself.

I can't find the other ask (I read your answer in my email notification from Tumblr), but I meant how they treated Enjolras and Fantine most of all. Also, people in my country are watching it only now because they're showing the miniseries on our national television and they're all praising it and saying either how faithful it is to the book (personally, I think that's up for debate) or how it seems like a telenovela.
whoof yeah the issue of “faithfulness” is always a vexed one!
Agh but the comparison of Les Mis (and Romanticist stories in general imo) to telenovelas is SUCH a potentially intriguing discussion, I really wish someone more expert in telenovelas than me would take it up! Or maybe someone has and there’s an article I should read..?  I for one think that’s a pretty valid comparison in a lot of ways and would love to see it explored more fully!
But as to Fantine and Enjolras in the latest beeb series specifically– oh gosh, one of my biggest disappointments and one of my happiest surprises about the series respectively?
(leaving out almost the whole issue of aesthetics and presentation because this is already gonna be long )
Fantine was maybe the character that I had the biggest hopes for from this series, because promo interviews and so on really played up how she was going to get more focus and exploration and then …she just didn’t. Nothing about her Gavroche-style street kid childhood, her time at the farm, her own dreams when she went to Paris, nothing. Even more disappointing, her Descent was condensed to happen at the same rocket-sled pace so many other English-language adaptations give it, which takes so much from the character!  The show HAD time, it could have let Fantine have her years of courage and struggle before the final irrevocable hair-teeth-prostitution slide. We see nothing of her sewing work , her friendship with Marguerite, her struggle with her creditors, nothing.  Instead we get a whole lot of Tholomyes talking and showing off his naked ass (NONE of which was needed, Tholomyes  ties Bamatabois for the least interesting named character in the whole book  on purpose , he is just That Jackass and we all know him already)  and lots of people get new lines to tell Fantine how stupid she is  for ?? reasons??  and  loving gore focus on her suffering and it really doesn’t amount to any more  exploration or depth than she gets from Lovely Ladies.  I honestly expected a lot more!
And it really does feel like the narrative mocks her–so many characters just pop up to tell her how stupid she is and how foolish she’s being and offer Foreshadowing and I don’t really know what the show thought that would add– did they think we’d see ourselves in those warning voices?  Was it a “hey viewer This Is You, Recognize Your Jerkness” thing? (in which case: piss off, show,I’ve never for a heartbeat thought that about Fantine or people in her situation and the whole “confront the audience with your own jerkness, which you assume is theirs” thing is tiresome at best , and this wasn’t even that ) but I can’t think of any other reason to keep hammering on that point so much?? In the novel she’s not portrayed as foolish, just taken advantage of and without recourse– she’s smart , she just doesn’t have a lot of power or options, and she makes decisions from a place of panic and oppression a lot. Post-show I saw a lot of people blaming her for her situation and I have never  seen that in the fandom before, and while I am fully ready to call those people Wrong, the show does set the character up for that reading!
Just. Disappointing, and weirdly degrading to the character’s whole concept. 3/10 Fantine, good actress , horrible setup, particularly disappointing given the time and performance power available.
On the other hand…
I was not expecting really anything at all from this Enjolras, not because of anything I’d heard about this series particularly, but because English-language adaptations in general have a bad track record with the barricades. Like..  really REALLY bad. And we weren’t hearing much pre-show about the barricades or the Amis and I was totally expecting the whole thing to be  a  “blink and you’ll miss it” uprising..
and then it got almost a full hour of screen time?? And actually showed the involvement of Paris at large? and workers as the mainstay of the movement??  Unexpected delight!
And…yeah, this isn’t a very Enolraic Enjolras. I don’t know whether to blame the actor, director, or what, but this guy just doesn’t have that Archangel Energy. He’s got the seriousness, but not the fire or the passion. It’s sort of an intangible thing, but it’s not there. I couldn’t be talked into a conviction by this Enjolras, and that’s definitely a problem!  But y’know.  He’s a solid guy, he’s got the focus, he cares, he really is dedicated to the cause and no hypocrite. He’s shown to be prepared and ready to go, and is the only one of the student revolutionaries who’s obviously in full trust with the workers and treated as one of them (which I would not be okay with if there were the full complement of Amis generally, but this show made choices about that setup and it may not be my dream presentation but I get what they were doing). I couldn’t be talked into a cause I didn’t already believe in by this guy, but I would  be happy to count him as a comrade in arms, and that’s a whole lot better than Enjolrai usually get. He gets decent character development over the course of the fight, too, which was also good! So like… 7/10 Enjolras Rep?,  not perfect but way way better than I was expecting and an interesting character in his own right!

Hunter x Hunter for the Fandom questions! 💕😁
You have activated the trap card!!! 💓 As always, a warning for everyone because this is a very long post -
Top 5 favourite characters: Truthfully, my top five are Shoot, Knuckle, Hanzo, Kite, and Gon. The three uncles, the honorary father, and the son. ❤
Other characters you like: Too many!!! I do love Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio. Kastro I really liked from the Tournament Arc. Melody, definitely! She’s the best. And, of course, Morel. I adore Big Papa Smoke. Palm and Knov, as well. Along with Ikalgo and Meleoron. ❤ Too many good characters.
Least favourite characters: I’ll have to say Illumi and Hisoka. I like them to an extent.
Otps: I am a sucker for Nashuu. 💓 What can I say? I really like Kurapika with Leorio, too.
Notps: Don’t…ship the children with other people please.
Favourite friendships: Gon and Killua of course! They are such a good pair. Shoot and Knuckle are the bestest though. I love them too much. Honestly, I really love when Meleoron and Ikalgo get to be with Gon and the others, especially after the Chimera Ant Arc. It’s so sweet.
Favourite family: Oh, I love Gon and Aunt Mito. 💌
Favourite episodes: There are too many good ones, but you know I have to put 86. For reasons. ❤ The biggest ones for me…were 112 and…118 just becauae of how emotional they made me. Especially 112. That episode made me SOB. After I finished the episode, I had to step away from the computer to breathe, I was crying too much. Not necessarily in a bad way, but I did get really choked up.
Favourite season/book/movie: Favorite season is the Chimera Ant Arc, even though it’s also the absolute worst at the same time. Favorite book is…the very first one! I was about to say Vol 20 or Vol 25, but the very first one makes me so happy. It’s my favorite cover, too! 💚
Tumblr media
Favorite movie I don’t have an answer for. The Last Mission was pretty good, and I know there are at least one or two more I believe? I’ve only seen one though.
Favourite quotes: I absolutely loved it when Knuckle said “Everyone has a heart. That’s what I want to believe.” And…Shoot’s whole inner monologue right before he fights. Even when Shoot explains to Killua how he doesn’t like to hurt people. I still can’t handle them, I get so emotional just thinking about them.
Best musical moment: Well…I know when Pouf plays his violin it is incredibly musical. That’s the only thing I can think of to say here! That scene is so out of place, but the music is lovely at least.
Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: I actually remember when I first got into Hunter x Hunter, and I saw that Hanzo got four badges in the hunting exam, literally was just cheering him on like “Yay Hanzo!!! Good job!!!” 💞 I was so happy for him!! Oh…and when Knuckle was on screen, especially when he would throw off his jacket… 💘💘💘💘💘 Every. Single. Time. My poor, weak heart. At all that fanservice. And!!! When Shoot would fight!!! I would just be mush like! 💓 I just loved seeing Shoot any moment I got, and I still do.
When it really disappointed you: I’m not going to say it because I don’t want to spoil Meve by accident, but it is a huge disapointment for me that still leaves me upset.
Saddest moment: Well… 💔 I won’t say it.
Most well done character death: Uvagin, I guess? I mean, I don’t want to say that, but Kurapika at the time…oh it was rough. 💔 The scene was well done.
Favourite guest star: Hm. Guest stars? I would say Togashi, but I’m clearly thinking about how we’ll see ONE appear in One Punch Man every now and then. Not sure if Madhouse did the same with Togashi dog or anything. – Oh shoot read that question wrong as soon as I wrote all of this, LOL! Oh, now I know who to say!! Junichi Kanemaru! 💓💓💓 He only voiced Buharu during the first season, but ahhh I absolutely adore him! Just hearing his voice again brought back great childhood memories since I know he’s Sonic. 💓 Takaya Kuroda also! He was great as Razor, but you can never not hear him as Kiryu if you know the Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku series. Listening to him as another character in a completely different thing was so funny. It was nice little cameo for my ears for both of them. ❤
Favourite cast member: Yuuji Ueda! 💓💓💓💓💓💓 Of COURSE. Favorite Japanese voice actor. (Can I just say how lovely Shoot’s voice is? It’s breathtaking. 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞) Along with Wataru Takagi, who is literally one of the best Japanese voice actors ever. He is an absolute gem. 💓 And I love Megumi Han. She was always so into her character and voicing Gon, she was just so passionate for the series. She’s the best.
Character you wish was still alive: Kite. 💔 And Kastro too, he seemed like a nice guy.
One thing you hope really happens: Please just let Gon and Killua rest. Give all the characters a rest. Where’s the filler episodes where they’re all getting together and having a good time and nothing can go wrong? Where’s my dream beach vacation episode?
Most shocking twist: Kite’s death… 💔💔💔 It really makes me upset please stop I want to forget
When did you start watching/reading?: I started watching the anime around March! I’m not sure when I bought the first volume of it though. Maybe in the same month? But yeah, March 3rd is the official date! (Which I was actually trying to figure out when I was deciding a date. I watched the first episode with my love maybe a month or so before I did on my own? But March 3rd was when I started watching it from the beginning. I thought about making it March 5th because…that’s when I first watched Shoot and Knuckle be introduced. You know.)
Best animal/creature: I’m biased to Knuckle’s puppy. 😌 For creature, I like Ikalgo and Meleoron a lot. It took me a bit to warm up to them, but they’re my favorite out of the Chimera Ants.
Favourite location: Whale Island! It is such a beautiful place! If it were real, I would definitely want to visit it.
Trope you wish they would stop using: Nothing that I can think of.
One thing this show/book/film does better than others: A big thing is that…it shows no matter what you go through, no matter what happens, you can definitely try again. And “you can smile again~” 🎵 All of these things slowly go more and more downhill when you follow along the adventure, but after the events of the scariest arc of the series, things do try to get better despite everything that happened during the darkest of times.
Funniest moments: I really can’t think of any super specific ones, but I know there were a lot of little moments Gon and Killua shared that cracked me up so much. Oh, when Gon hit Hanzo during their fight, and Leorio called him a liar for saying he let Gon hit him on purpose!! Ahhh the way Leorio’s voice actor did that line was PERFECT. “LIAR!!!!” I was dying! I also giggled bad at ones Shoot and Knuckle shared, ahh they’re so funny together.
Couple you would like to see: Shoot and I love the thought of Aunt Mito with Kite, for some reason? I think it’s because someone wrote a fic of them meeting, but…it’s a nice thought.
Actor/Actress you want to join the cast: Could you imagine if someone like Hiroki Yatsumoto voiced someone? Or Masaya Onosaka? Ahhhh or even Takahiro Sakurai! Just get Makoto Furukawa to guest star a character along with some other One Punch Man voice actors! It would be a fun time I’m sure.
Favourite outfit: I would say Knuckle. How does he stay looking so good??? His clothes never get dirty. But I do love how Pakunoda dresses. She just looks so lovely, ugghgh
Favourite item: The Hunter cards! ❤ They just look so iconic. Definitely Hotel Raffelasia. Gon’s fishing rod. And Crazy Slots!! Technically not an item himself, but Kite’s scythe is definitely the coolest weapon.
Do you own anything related to this show/book/film?: I do now. ❤
Tumblr media
What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race/etc would you be in?: I would love to be in the little family Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio have together. I do have to say I would want to be apart of the Extermination Team, too! What great groups of friends.
Most boring plotline: I honestly did get bored watching through the Phantom Troupe and Greed Island Arcs when I first watched Hunter x Hunter, but I really need to rewatch them. When I think back on them, I feel like I didn’t appreciate them enough. I might enjoy them more after I watch it from the beginning again.
Most laughably bad moment: Whenever Hisoka shows up and he’s just like that
Best flashback/flashfoward if any: The one during Shoot’s inner monologue, and the one of Gon meeting Kite for the first time. Definitely. Even though Gon meeting Kite was the opening for Hunter x Hunter in the manga. There’s also the one Knuckle has where my most favorite picture comes from. ❤
Most layered character: I jokingly say Shoot because my goodness that man wears layers of bandages, but he really is a layered character. There’s actually a whole bunch of layered characters throughout the series.
Most one dimensional character: I’m honestly not sure.
Scariest moment (and Grossest moment, I’m mixing both questions for my answer): When the Chimera Ants would kill people.
Best looking male: Knuckle. I love my Shoot, but…Japanese pompadoured delinquents make me swoon. They are seriously my biggest weakness. Especially him. 💘💘💘 My poor, weak heart. I can’t even look at him without melting.
Best looking female: Pakunoda and Palm. Both women are beautiful in their own way. And Melody is of course very warm and sweet, I adore how she looks. ❤
Who you’re crushing on (if any): …Shoot… ❤💍
Favourite cast moment: When Megumi Han got really emotional speaking at one of the panels for The Last Mission in front of fans. It was so genuine and sweet.
Favourite transportation: I always loved the shuttle train! When Gon and Killua used to get to the tournament, and when Morel and the others traveled together. ❤ It makes me wish I could go on long and cozy train rides to different places like that in real life.
Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): When Gon was hiding out to watch Hisoka in the bushes, and the sun shown through the trees. Anytime a scene would be in a forest or in walkways of trees, really! The way the sunlight shines through the trees and leaves in patches over the vast green surrounding is just so pretty. I just love the colors, contrast, everything. Oh! And when Knuckle was punching Youpi!!! Like ahhhhhh Madhouse!!! Every once in a while in Hunter x Hunter that fluid Madhouse animation would just hit you!
Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: I wish we could have seen what Kite’s other rolls (weapons) were. 💔 Along with Hanzo’s, Knuckle’s, and Shoot’s backstories! We know just a bit about Knuckle’s past, but nothing about Hanzo nor Shoot really. I would want to know why they all became hunters!
Best promo: Hm…I haven’t seen promos or anything at all for the series. This wouldn’t fit the answer I don’t think, but I loved the little “To Be Continued” ending scenes with Gon and Killua. They were so cute! I actually missed them during the Chimera Ant Arc.
At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: Honestly, I’m not sure. I just ended up really liking it just by watching it from the beginning. Watching the first episode over at my love’s house piqued my interest in the series, but then a few weeks or so later I started watching it all the way through, and the rest was history. Everything blurs together for me because I literally blew through episodes watching them, but I had fun watching them all. And…even though the Chimera Ant Arc leaves me heartbroken and sickened, characters like Knuckle and Shoot came out of nowhere, and I was so excited to see them in such an awful part of the story. They were a breath of fresh air. And, of course…I got to meet Shoot. A character I will cherish and keep in my heart for the rest of my life. I already talk about him to death, but he came into my life at the perfect time. He gives me strength. I truly am happy I found Hunter x Hunter and just got into it.

You know what...
Something I keep noticing with all this hype around Titans is bothering the shit outta me.
All people have seriously got to learn to back the fuck off.
And I’m not siding here in the slightest.
But...
Titans fans, leave people who are not hyped about and aren’t really caring about it alone. I’m seeing so many people who are really excited about Titans being proper arrogant and rude and hateful towards those showing displeasure or dislike for the show.
People are entitled to their own opinion. If someone doesn’t like the look of the show, it doesn’t automatically make them a racist or a negative person or someone just wanting to start shit. Some people might just see the flaws that have been exhibited in the show via trailers and promo pics and not like it.
They’re allowed to voice how they dislike it or what they don’t particularly like about it and shouldn’t be demonized for how they feel.
These people shouldn’t be getting hate sent through just because they don’t like something you do. Like, that’s basic shit.
I’ve seen quite a number of people being so bloody rude and disrespectful to those who are not fans of the upcoming show, the minute they say a bad word against it. There is room for improvement in the show, there are things that don’t look good about it and no, some of the promo material has not helped the show’s case. The recent trailer done by Netflix actually looks pretty decent and it definitely made me turn my head whereas the first one definitely did not.
You can’t jump down someone’s throat because they simply weren’t impressed with the marketing material released via DC’s streaming service or whatever. It’s not perfect and it’s also not a final product so it doesn’t need to be perfect but don’t start giving people grief if they’re pointing these things out.
Things like trailers are supposed to be the thing to get people hyped for a show or film; the first trailer didn’t deliver to a big range of people because it wasn’t the best. They could have pieced it together better. Like, c’mon? That second trailer blew the first one away. Right? I’m not alone in this thought, am I??
It’s okay to admit that it doesn’t all look amazeballs, even if you are excited for it. Most shows suck in promotion until they’ve actually got the ball rolling on them.
But, a lot of people are going on about how the non-fans are being oh-so negative but it runs in circles. Of course people are going to be negative when the second they say something about it that the fans don’t agree with, they’re getting bombarded with anger.
You can’t treat every critique of the show as “being negative” when in fact, some are just pointing out opinions and/or facts. I get that you’re excited about it but don’t shut someone down and label them like that when they’re just sharing their thoughts. Like, that’s not cool.
Same if someone is like, “Oh, idk, I’m not the biggest fan of the cast.” You can’t just jump straight to anyone being “racist” etc. That’s one of the worst things I have seen. Someone is allowed to dislike one of the cast members without it automatically leading back to being a personal reason. People may just not like their acting skills or might have had a different actor/actress in mind.
Unless people are actually hating on the cast members for specific reasons like with Anna Diop and all the awful racist messages and hate she was receiving, then let them be. If they aren’t a fan of who was cast as a specific character, then they aren’t a fan. Again, shouldn’t get hate just for not being super duper excited over the cast choices.
Personally, I never had expectations on who was cast as the team so the actual acting lineup doesn’t really phase me that much. I’m sure they’ll all do a dandy job because why wouldn’t they? Like, it’s honestly fine to me but I know others possibly had people in mind and are just disappointed which again, doesn’t mean they’re hating on the actors themselves. It’s just a personal preference of who they would have liked to see?
But, the fact I have seen some really nasty and arrogant fans is actually what is putting me off of the show. I mean, it doesn’t look the greatest, again, just my opinion so don’t go blasting me for it but I don’t think it looks the best but it’s not the worst either? No one will know for sure until it’s released anyway but, there are fans I’ve seen that are being negative towards non fans and I’m not being funny but that’s not the way to get people to see the good in the show.
If you’re being an asshole to someone simply because of how they feel about what they’ve seen so far in regards to Titans, then of course they are going to be horrible back because it’s coming across as “my way or no way” which isn’t exactly welcoming.
And, I’d like to point out, this isn’t directed at the entirety of Titans fans. There are some who are lovely and who, like me, just want everyone to chill and get along bc you know, this isn’t preschool?
Like every corner of fandom, there will always be some dickheads who just can’t help themselves and feel the need to lash out at those who don’t agree with their opinions.
I know it’s just the way it goes.
Also, it’s worth noting that no, a good portion of people who didn’t like the first trailer but did like the second didn’t go and give the actors shit. Like I just said, there are a very small slither of non-fans that did/are doing that so don’t generalize either because it’s not all non-fans and the ones who were off spreading hate to the actors themselves are toxic and trust me, the nicer non-fans don’t want them affiliated either. We’re with you there.
No one likes a prick.
All I’m saying here is, let non-fans dislike the show or at least the things they have seen of it so far. They’re entitled to be disappointed by what has been given so far, just as the fans are entitled to like it all they want.
Adding to that as well...
On the flip side, just so this post doesn’t come across as hate for Titans fans (because that isn’t what this is at all), I will point out the other side of this argument.
Non-Titans fans.
This is a two way street. If there are people who are excited and really pumped for Titans to air, let them be.
It’s not up to you to dictate what they are allowed to express joy and excitement for and vice versa for them and us. They are allowed to post gifs and pictures and videos etc for this show.
They’re entitled to their opinion as well and they can like the show as much as they want and they shouldn’t be mocked or get hate for that either. It’s not fair and it’s not cool.
You might see a post on your dash about someone being ultra buzzed about Titans coming out but instead of seeing it, leaving a nasty message and making the person feel crappy about liking something, here’s a thought; just scroll past it.
It’s really not that difficult?
Don’t get me wrong, I have seen a number of non-fans being complete and utter dickheads to Titans fans and it just asdfghjkl winds me up because it is just such basic behaviour to keep scrolling and nod your head like, “I don’t agree but that’s okay.”
You don’t need to comment or spread any kind of hate or negativity. You accomplish nothing other than making those of us who aren’t particularly interested in Titans all look like massive douchebags. Those of you non-fans spreading shit and being dicks just give us all a bad name, really.
Keep your spiteful comments to yourself.
There is a big difference to being hateful and expressing dislike.
Hateful: “Wow, this show is so shit and any fans who like it are dumbasses. The actors deserve hate for this so ima go do that.”
Dislike: “Mm, not too interested in this but it’s cool that others like it.”
The first is a big fat no no. Just... ugh I can’t express how much I hate people who just can’t let things rest? It’s the same with shipping wars. Like, you see your notp. It doesn’t mean you need to automatically go and shit on the op and their post. Just shrug and keep scrolling??
It’s that simple, jheez.
The second is just expressing an opinion which there is nothing wrong with. Be an adult and assess the comment and the difference before labeling something as “hate”.
And that goes for both Titans fans and non-fans.
Non-fans... whilst you might not like trailers and promo pics, others will be shaking from excitement and it’s just cruel to crush their happiness for doing something as minuscule as liking and supporting a TV show. There is absolutely no need to throw shade at people for liking the show.
I get it; it’s a little in your face at times and it fills the tags etc so when you aren’t a fan, it can get annoying. But, if you’re having that much trouble blocking it out, just blacklist the tag or block people. Others might see that route as childish but I see it as the better option. That way, you won’t be tempted nor will you go ahead and give someone loads of shit for a simple post and turn something small into a huge thing that it doesn’t need to be.
It’s just really shameful that non-fans actually feel the need to tear those who are fans down to make themselves feel better. Differences in opinion involves being an actual grown up and respecting that other people might feel differently to you about a subject such as Titans.
Non-fans and the cast choices? Where to begin... if you don’t like who has been chosen to play specific roles in the show, that’s fine. You don’t have to and feel free to voice it.
However, don’t be doing what some of the minority of shitheads in the non-fans department are doing and going after said actors and giving them abuse.
The shit I saw people commenting about Anna Diop and to her no less was absolutely atrocious and anyone who joined in on that should be fucking ashamed of themselves. I saw a bunch of nasty racial slurs, simply because they don’t like the fact she is black.
If you don’t like her playing Starfire, fine. That’s fine. You don’t have to and you’re not racist for not liking the cast choice. What does make you a damn racist is chatting shit about disliking her because she is black and then proceeding to send her personal threats and hateful messages and abuse about how she looks and the skin colour she was born with.
Like, damn... I actually couldn’t believe some of the stuff out there and those “non-fans” are the ones I want nothing to do with. Whether you like her as Starfire or not, don’t be a dick and do that.
None of the actors deserve hate.
If you don’t like how they’re dressed or the dialogue, the actors are not to blame. They’re doing their damn job at the end of the day and they certainly do not deserve bullshit comments from some of the assholes. If you dislike it, take it up with the show’s writers or whatever.
The fact some people can’t fathom that is beyond me. Like what the actual fuck. Again, b a s i c.
Also, if you had specific actors in mind and you didn’t have that fulfilled, don’t be going round spreading hate about it. Like, keep your toys in your pram and move on??
I could rant about that forever but moving on.
Non-fans aren’t perfect, much like a good load of the Titans fans aren’t perfect either. I’ve seen plenty of non-fans just being grade A asses and it’s not cool.
In fact, it’s tiring because then you’re saddled with, “oh great, this is how we all look to the fans of this show.”
Sure, as Titans fans keep pointing out, it isn’t the final look. But, you are allowed to comment on your dislike of what you have seen so far. Trailers and promo pictures are supposed to be top notch to get you buzzing for an upcoming show. It not being a “final look” isn’t an excuse for you to be shut down on your thoughts. Again, be respectful and don’t outright blast the show because that’s rude to the fans who are looking forward to it. But, you don’t have to love everything and Titans fans also need to respect that, just as we need to respect that they may like everything they have been seeing.
And, like I’ve said in the first half of this essay... Titans fans, or some of them, sorry, can come across very high and mighty and do not come across as very welcoming so it can be easy to be defensive and get your back up.
But, try to be equally inviting. You get an asshole Titans fan? Be civil and just brush it off bc unnecessary.
Same for Titans fans. You have a non-fan that’s a right douche? Ignore them and keep going.
You have every right to blog and post about how excited you are. Whilst some may have differing opinions, you shouldn’t be silenced but also understand that it works both ways. Be respectful of those who don’t like the show without immediately calling them this and that.
Sigh...
Bottom line I’m trying to make clear with this huge ass post is...
Just be nice to everyone.
It doesn’t matter if you like the look of Titans or if you hate the look of it; be respectful to others and understand that others can and will feel differently to you on certain topics.
I’m just so sick of seeing all the bullshit with Titans getting closer to release. Fans and non-fans just getting at each other for literally no reason??
Like I said, unless they’re being outrightly unreasonable and have no reason for acting a certain dickish way, keep scrolling and don’t get into anything.
It’s so not worth the time and energy??
Stay in your own lane if you are unable to communicate and respectfully converse with people who share differing opinions about the show than you.
It doesn’t hurt to be fucking nice to one another.
In the end, we’re all human beings and should be treated as such; especially over something which is supposed to be a good thing. TV shows and movies are supposed to bring joy etc.
Fans and non-fans shouldn’t ruin that for others.
Got something nice to say? Then say it. If you don’t? Then keep your mouth shut and move on.
If you’re unable to comprehend that basic principle of minding ya damn business, then you’re probably too young to even be on here. Just a thought.
But yeah, just.... sigh... just be nicer to each other, okay?
People are allowed to like/dislike things that you do not like/dislike.
They shouldn’t get shit for their innocent opinions and thoughts.
Hope this doesn’t offend anyone. I’ve stayed fairly quiet about Titans because I’m kinda just “eh” about it but I’m not over here, trolling people who like it because I’m not an asshole :)
Anyway, I’m sure I’ll get disagreement but I wanted to just vent.
Ironic, the thing I have seen most about this whole Titans thing is just fans and non-fans having it out with each other in the comments sections. Not the content or anything, just the spite and arguments.
Sad, but there you go.

CLEXACON RECAP omfg
bc this needs to go somewhere & @mnhooch was kind enough to ask. tried to bold some highlights bc this is basically a long-ass diary entry ramble haha
-the first thing I went to was a panel called “Gaysian: Queer Asian Representation in the Media” with 4 incredibly rad/funny/super smart folks. Really enlightening convo on finding bits and pieces of characters who don’t look like/sound like you to relate to. A highlight: the first question was asking them if there are any queer Asian characters in the media they related to growing up and the last one said “Well, of course, Mulan” and there was like this loud “MMMMMM yeahhhh” that like rippled through the audience. Pressed to clarify which Mulan: “THE CARTOON one, come on”
-the moderator for the LGBTQ Actress panel was hilarious and the women on it were all wonderful so it was great to get to hear from them/learn about them but for me it was ALL ABOUT STEPHANIE BEATRIZ OMMMMMMGGG. Seeing how bubbly she is irl is a good reminder of how solid her performance is as Rosa like dang. Highlight: Stephanie tearing up talking about how much it meant to her to read the dialogue “I’m bisexual,” laid clearly and deliberately, in the script where Rosa come out
-SO MANY STUNNING BUTCHES EVERYWHERE??? omg. also it was just really cool to be in a space with so many women and nb folks. Pretty much every other gay-anything I’ve tried to go to has been 98% cis gay guys so this was like huge in a way I wasn’t anticipating
-OLDER WOMEN WHO’VE BEEN WAITING DECADES FOR GOOD REPRESENTATION, and they were there, and they love the shows we love and it warmed my heart. Also people came from around the globe for this and that was so cool
-AMAZING COSPLAYERS!!! Faves: 2 people dressed as Valkyries, Xena & Gabrielle, and too many gorgeous Alex Danvers(...es) to count
-saw a group of short documentaries, some of which were like ok but there were 2 great ones - butch coyolxauhqui (x) (about a butch learning to love her body with the help of her mother & an Aztec goddess) and a place in the middle (x) (about a Hawaiian child reclaiming traditional notions about gender from an awesome teacher)
-an awesome panel on butch representation in the media! Wish more people could’ve made it to that one. Such an important reminder that there is soooo far to go. Good introspection about internalized lesbophobia (”cured” tomboys in kid movies; butches being the lesbian equivalent of effeminate men where the stereotype is what our internalized phobia wants to get away from instead of embracing as we should)/the fact that it’s a stereotype but still like never seen?? and if it is seen, is usually negative. sigh.
-a panel on sapphic fanfic! Which was actually really inspiring and makes me want to get back into writing. Because I love it. I love writing, you guys.
DAY 2? ALREADY OMG
-started off the day in the way, way back of the auditorium for the Wayhaught panel which was so much fun! Kat & Dom are too adorable for words. Highlight: Kat’s response when asked about her thoughts on things like fanart/fanfic. idk, it was really heartwearming/inspiring. Something along the lines of, “this character may look like me but it’s the spirit of Nicole that matters, and the spirit belongs to all of us, not just me” ergo she sees fanart and sees Nicole, not herself. No single person/entity owns the character. idk that was just a really awesome thing to hear an actor say
-short comedies!! Sadly I had to duck out of this one early, but I loved 2 of the ones I saw here - a USC thesis (trailer) and a hilarious/touching one by a Philippine filmmaker called “salamagan” that unfortunately I can’t find online anywhere
-CHYLER LEIGH. CHYLER LEIGH, HOLY SHIT. This was like. The most moving Q&A I think I’ve ever been able to experience. As I was sitting there, it really registered with me how shitty it felt to have to put up with actresses (not just a certain 2) for years who were ashamed - vocally and specifically - of fans like us. Not for being over-zealous, but being queer and having queer feelings and seeking validation. How shitty it felt to have those actresses make fun of us on talk shows; make us feel gross/stupid/deluded/embarrassing for feeling the way we did & thus perpetuating internalized fears and shame in abundance. I know there are plenty of actresses who are truly great allies and who care about their LGBTQ fans, but Chyler like ... is so engaged?? She was so emotional and you can see that she gets it, she does not take her responsibility lightly and she is wonderful. I was also reminded of the distinction between seeing ourselves/hearing ourselves in media. bc i’m white, I do get to see queer characters who look like me more and more on TV/the movies (certainly more than I was a kid), but Alex is the first(/only?) one who I’ve really heard myself in and that feels significant Highlight: I got to ask her a question! And I was the last one they had time for so phew. Here’s a link to the whole panel, set to start at my question *^^ (but I definitely recommend watching the whole thing the next time you have an hour to spare) (I MADE HER LAUGH. Kinda hard to make out what I said at the beginning, which is, “oh wow, lesbians are short” bc I’m almost 6′ tall and the mic stand was very very low) (I WAS TREMBLING THE WHOLE TIME Y’ALL)
-highlight: a DELIGHTFUL/wonderful feature called “Signature Move” (trailer). You want a good lesbian movie? HERE’S A GOOD LESBIAN MOVIE!!! Nobody dies, no lesbians have to date men, one of the leads is a butch Pakistani-American and the other is Mexican-American and we see their complicated/beautiful relationships with their mothers and it’s FUNNY AS HELL and the leads are HANDSOME AND BEAUTIFUL AS HELL and it needs all the viewers
-highlight: I got to meet @thefootlightclub and @missmaclay after years of being tumblr buddies!! They are both delightful/amazing people and it was so fun to like, fangirl irl with people. And since I went to this con alone, it was really cool to get to talk to other people about it, haha. They introduced me to some awesome peeps including the lovely @amyroot! Thanks y’all for being so friendly and welcoming me in. Also @thefootlightclub and I talked about how June Allyson should totally have a massive lesbian following bc Jo March and that voice, amirite #imright
DAY 3 OH NO THE WEEKEND IS ENDING
-really sad short films today!! Most of them not great, but there was one that wove in Mrs Dalloway and that was pretty cool/I was stunned to see that the cinematographer was a childhood friend of mine! Who is Mormon! And apparently worked on a film about lesbians! He’s a cool guy and that was a fun surprise. One of the films was pretty powerful and gave me AYLT feels (if my epilogue had been depressing AF) (trailer)
-there was a panel called “empowerment through fandom,” which was nice but pretty much wound up being for Earpers. Validating to know one of the panelists was a reporter and it’s like aha okay this stuff is for people in all walks of life/professions/ages. Validating all around.
-I wandered around the vendor booths and picked up a couple of pins/postcards. So many talented people! Probably just as well that I didn’t look too hard at this stuff until the last day bc stuff was sold out and I probably would’ve spent $$ I didn’t have on some of these rad shirts/posters haha
-went to a panel on Queer Films, which I kind of thought would be more of like a presentation/discussion on the history of films but it was more about how to get them made/how hard it is to do that. The panelists and moderator were great, though, and had some great insights. Specifically, the producer of “Elena Undone” (which I admit I could not finish but deeply wanted to like) talked about how you have to do the best with what you have bc sometimes you just can’t raise the money you want/need to get the film you’d really like bc people don’t like to finance lesbian films and that was kind of humbling to keep in mind
-rounded it all out by watching DEBS, obviously one of the greatest films of all time. Highlight: there were a lot of older women at the con, which was really wonderful to see, and 2 of them were sitting behind me. One said to the other, “I wasn’t sure I was going to come to this but these kids downstairs said ‘oh you totally have to go.’ Well, one said, ‘you “totes” have to,’ which I took to mean ‘totally.’” It was great to hear them laughing behind me the whole time! WHAT AN ICONIC MOVIE.
-I got to eat at Cafe Rio which is always ALWAYS A PLUS
Anyway, wow, what a fantastic weekend. I feel so, so lucky that I was able to go and meet so many amazing people and hear so many amazing people and be surrounded by the love. I never ever thought I’d go to a con - not for any condescending reason, just bc I never thought there was enough I’d ever be interested in to make it worth attending. But this? Wow. Tailor-made for me - for so many of us. If I had a wish then it would be that we could all go to Clexacon next year!
/is it next year yet

SWEE-T
nation's girl group, Swee-T! Well, nowadays... not so much. Oh, they still have a huge fandom, despite having as many lineup changes as hits (A Lot), but said fandom can't let go of their cutie image from their debut over a decade ago no matter how many new concepts they try…
Members: Soojin, Eve (leader), Mindeulle, Yesarang, Sunhee, Juliette (maknae)
Fandom name: Ices
Stage Name: Soojin Birth Name: Han Soo Jin Position: Rapper Birthday: 1989 Zodiac: Libra Height: 165cm Weight: kg Blood Type: O Favourite Colour: Purple Favourite Food: Roast sweet potato Least Favourite Food: Chewing gum Hobbies: Taking selfies, listening to music, shopping
Facts: - One of the three remaining original members along with Eve and Yesarang. - Even though she doesn’t get many lines, she says she doesn’t mind because she gets a lot of screentime and that’s more important. - Started a youtube channel where she uploads skincare and makeup tips, though it’s mostly popular for the guest appearances of other idols. - Originally the most popular member, but she lost a lot of fans after she got into a dating scandal with LVLMAX’s Duyeon. She’s still mad about it because 1) they never dated 2) she thinks Duyeon is ugly and 3) if she was going to date someone from LVLMAX, it would be Jintaek, anyway. - Ideal type at debut: Someone tall and handsome with a pretty smile. Ideal type now: The same.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Updates her face every comeback, but her fans will rip you to shreds for mentioning it. - Really wants to be “the sexy one” but has virtually no charisma whatsoever. - Over the whole idol thing in general but has no ambition to do anything else, so she just puts in the minimum possible effort, and because she’s one of the original members, she gets away with it. - Spends most of her time taking selfies and spends the rest of her spamming the group chat with very mundane conversation topics which the members barely reply to. Really is quite a boring person.
Stage Name: Eve Birth Name: Min Cho Rong Position: Leader, Visual Birthday: 1989 Zodiac: Scorpio Height: 170cm Weight: kg Blood Type: AB Favourite Colour: Mint green, pastel pink Favourite Food: Peach sorbet Least Favourite Food: Milk coffee Hobbies: Being beautiful
Facts: - Princess disease, vanity, overconfidence, conceit… whatever you want to call it, she’s very confident in her beauty, and so charismatic that she’s impossible to deny. - Nation’s first love, largely considered the prettiest idol ever, and if you don’t believe it, she’ll tell you. - Genius-level IQ, which she mentioned off-hand during a comedy talk show so everyone assumed she was joking, but she later revealed on Swee-T’s fancafe her perfect marks on her college exams, and later, actual IQ test results. Went back to the comedy talk show to prove herself, but ended up talking about the struggles of being so beautiful again, so the public still thinks it’s a joke. - Impenetrable wall of confidence, knows she gets a lot of hate comments but doesn’t care because she gets way more love from her fans and the general public. - Aspiring actress, though she’s only had guest and supporting roles so far. - Wonderful cook, likes making desserts most of all. - Ideal type at debut: someone wealthy, good-looking, tall, smart, and worshipful. Ideal type now: the same, but ideally they also have a holiday house overseas and know the stock market well.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Unlike CiCi, who kind of adopted the “princess disease” concept as a defence mechanism, Eve lives it. As in, yes, that is her real personality, and no, she doesn’t care if you don’t like it. - She really is a genius, she’s just vain foremost. - Only child of poor parents. Her paternal family used to be quite wealthy but fell into poverty after the war, so her father insisted on raising her to be an ideal wife so she would get married to someone rich and restore his family’s name. Her mother was aware of this, and didn’t mind until he started telling his coworkers, all in their 40s and 50s, about his beautiful teenage daughter who would be old enough to get married soon, and she started pushing for Eve to find work away from home. Eve was discovered while training to become a hairdresser, and when she told her parents that she had been cast in a girl group, her father immediately told her to quit because only whores become singers, and that was the final straw for her mother, who left him and came to support Eve in the city and taught her to be more confident so she’d never be a downtrodden woman like she was. - Very, very wealthy because she invests most of her earnings (her reasoning is that she already bought houses for her and her mother, and “I get paid to wear beautiful things, why would I pay for them?”), not to mention the fact she had her contract lawyer of a best friend go over her contract and tweak a few things to make it much more fair than most standard idol contracts.
Stage Name: Mindeulle Birth Name: Lee Min Ji Position: Rapper, Vocalist, Dancer Birthday: 1991 Zodiac: Aquarius Height: 167cm Weight: kg Blood Type: O Favourite Colour: Cobalt blue Favourite Food: Jjajangmyeon Least Favourite Food: Grapefruit Hobbies: Writing music, cycling, travelling
Facts: - Joined the group with Juliette after three of the original members left. - Originally had a soft and pretty “cute little girl” image, but she cut her hair short for a comeback a few years ago, and has stuck with the “bifauxnen” look ever since. Her fanboys hate it. - Although she mostly raps in Swee-T songs, she has a sweet and mellow singing voice, and originally auditioned to be a vocalist. - Often can be seen cycling around the city and has participated in a few charity races, although she’s never won first place. - Ideal type: Someone with a lot of natural cuteness.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Super duper gay. The only thing stopping her talking about it is that she’s simply not one of the members who gets invited to talk shows and she’s too much of an outdoorsy type to really get on social media unless she’s been specifically directed to in order to promote a new single or something like that. - Of the members, probably the least popular with the public, no doubt because of her masculine image. - Despite this, she has a strong contingent of superfans who are always rallying for her to get more singing parts. - Has a really tight relationship with Juliette, who she joined the group alongside and who is also very into girls. However, their tastes are very different (Juliette likes strong girls who can care for her, Mindeulle likes… well, Mindeulle likes all kinds of girls, but especially gentle and cute ones who don’t have so much the idol look) so they don’t actually talk about girls together very much. Probably just as well, because neither of them have actually realised they’re each other’s ideal types...
Stage Name: Yesarang Birth Name: Lim Ye Sarang Position: Power Vocal Birthday: 1993 Zodiac: Pisces Height: 166cm Weight: kg Blood Type: A Favourite Colour: Black Favourite Food: Sashimi Least Favourite Food: Banana milk Hobbies: Playing piano, hairstyling
Facts: - Was the maknae of the group at debut, but now Juliette is the maknae, she takes her role as unnie very seriously and treats her very well. - Has always had sharp features even as a young teenager. She’s not angry, that’s just her face! - A perfectionist. - Has been trying to write new songs for Swee-T, but she always gets stuck on the lyrics, as she’s not a very poetic person and all of her lyrics end up sounding stiff. She and Mindeulle collaborated for a special stage during a Japanese tour, but so far, that’s the only self-written track the fans have heard. - Ideal type at debut: none. Ideal type now: still none, too busy to think about romance.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - Real leader of Swee-T, as Eve is generally uninterested in any leaderly activities other than leading group introductions or accepting awards, while Yesarang is very involved in all of the behind-the-scenes. - Really only cares about Swee-T and tries her absolute hardest to make sure the group is a success. - Still very bitter about the other members (1 before they got popular, 2 after their popularity started to wane… thus accelerating said wane) leaving, and has made some really quite petty comments about the latter two’s departures and how she felt like they used the group to get themselves famous then abandoned her-- the group-- once they felt they were famous enough. - Due to her strong loyalty to the group, she’s kind of bought into their own hype and thinks anything Swee-T deserves all the praise in the world, and whenever their singles flop (well, they always sell, some just not as much as she might be used to), it’s obvious, to her, that they’ve been set up/ripped off/there’s someone actively working against them. - Very standoffish towards rookies, especially ones with more creative control than Swee-T have. - Very standoffish in general, really, and doesn’t trust new people easily because she’s been burned too many times by people who she thought were her friends.
Stage Name: Sunhee Birth Name: Kim Sun Hee Position: Romantic Vocal Birthday: 1993 Zodiac: Taurus Height: 164cm Weight: kg Blood Type: O Favourite Colour: Pink Favourite Food: Chocolate (white, milk, or a little dark, but not too bitter) Least Favourite Food: Asparagus Hobbies: Watching dramas, writing love songs
Facts: - The newest member, added recently. - Her voice was specifically chosen to contrast with Yesarang’s and Juliette’s. - Hopeless romantic, every day is Valentine’s Day for her. - She’s still very new to being an idol and performing on stage, but she’s trying her best, so she wishes that everyone can support her in Swee-T and that they can make love-love memories together! - Ideal type: a tall fairytale prince, with wavy hair and a pretty smile.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - The story about her being chosen for her voice is only a half-truth. Her voice is good, but the company saw how naturally flirtatious (and busty) she is and decided she’d be a good addition to Swee-T’s stages. - So focused on her new dream job with a group she’s been a fan of for years that she hasn’t quite realised that she’s being used for sex appeal. - Would she mind once she realised? Probably not, but she wouldn’t be trying so hard to impress everyone with her hard work if she knew that all that was really required of her was to show up to record vocals and wear tight tops when in public. - Her bias when she was a fan was Yesarang, and she’s still a little starstruck despite the fact they’ve been working, sleeping and eating together for a while now. - The fandom LOATHES her for “replacing” the original main vocalist (even though really, Yesarang took that role), often posting hate that she only got in because of her boobs (not entirely wrong), that her boobs aren’t even that big (also not entirely wrong), that she must have slept her way to the top (if she did, she should have kept going, because she’s nowhere near “the top”), that she’s not even talented or pretty (obviously false, but butthurt fans are butthurt fans) etc. - The general public, however, have no interest in her whatsoever, as she blends right into the original member-line the way Mindeulle and Juliette certainly do not, and thus don’t realise she’s new.
Stage Name: Juliette Birth Name: Sang Juliette Position: Vocalist, Dancer Birthday: 1996 Zodiac: Scorpio Height: 172cm Weight: kg Blood Type: A Favourite Colour: Pink Favourite Food: Strawberries Least Favourite Food: Bitter food Hobbies: Customising clothes, makeup, swimming
Facts: - Joined the group with Mindeulle after 3 of the original members left. - Shes fully Korean, her parents just named her after the Shakespeare character because they thought it’s a pretty name. She is very aware of how that story ends, and has heard every joke there is. - Her lips are real, though people doubt it no matter how many predebut photos she shares. - Debuted at only 15 years old and used to be quite small and a little chubby-cheeked, but had a huge growth spurt and lost weight while the group was on hiatus for a few months and quickly became a trending topic when Swee-T came back, as people couldn’t believe how much her looks changed and how long her legs now were in the tiny shorts the group wore for their comeback promotions. - Among all the members, she’s the one who takes the longest getting ready, as she won’t go anywhere unless she’s done her hair and makeup and has a cute outfit on, not even just to practice. - Ideal type: someone strong and cool who can look after her but is also cute and funny.
BEHIND THE SCENES DATA: - ADHD as hell, and quickly becomes overwhelmed by schedules and criticism. She has a bit of a reputation for being difficult to work with because of this, but she really does try extra hard to keep up with everyone. - A bit shy and introverted around people she doesn’t know, which, especially alongside the very focused Yesarang and the vain Soojin and Eve, can come off as similarly elitist and snobbish. However, she’s actually very nice, if a little innocent. - Not innocent as in unaware of her own sex appeal, though. She’s very aware of her own sex appeal, and while she’s repulsed by the more ribald comments she receives, she does like the attention a lot. - Constantly going back and forth between flirty and reclusive, constantly begging for attention and then not knowing what to do with it. - Not only did she become a trending topic, but she also became a bit of a meme, with people photoshopping her legs to look even longer, or to look shorter, or as elements in other memes, with the tagline “amongst trees, the redwood, amongst girl group’s legs, Juliette Sang” - Although her old social media has been wiped to the best of the company’s ability, it has already leaked that she used to date girls pretty much exclusively and was in a relationship with an older girl who was fairly well-known in goth circles at the time of her debut. The company quickly denied it, and Juliette was scolded heavily for it and was told to break it off immediately, but they still continued to date until eventually Juliette’s schedules caused them to break up naturally.

Got tagged by two people and since the questions are custom-made (lol) I guess, I’ll answer twenty-two instead of eleven LMAO. Love you both guys!
The rules are:
• Post the rules
• Answer the questions given to you by the tagger
• Write eleven questions of your own
• Tag eleven people
QUESTIONS FROM @equusgirl
1. If you could have lunch with anyone alive or dead, who would it be?
This is a tough one. I have many different aspects of myself—several masks. My joker-self would want to be with my friends because I never fail to make them laugh their pants off. My lonely-self would want my future spouse, whoever that person is, right now. My artist-self would want Vincent Van Gogh so I could do the Doctor Who thing where I would reassure him that he is amazing.
My desperate-self would want Bob Ross because I bet he’d inspire me the hell out. My sad-self would want to have lunch with my dead happy-self because I bet I’d slap the hell out of my face. My family-oriented-self would want my maternal grandfather I never got to meet because he doesn’t know me and it’s nice to have a family who would probably say that they’re proud of me. Estranged relatives are like that, I think lmao
OH and I would also want any psychologist, so I’d have free sessions to deal with my ADHD because I can never afford to have more sessions, and I’d finally get a prescription cos I need dem meds.
2. You’re stuck on an elevator with whoever is on your lock/home screen. Who is it?
If we’re talking about my phone, I guess I’m stuck on an elevator with the Eiffel Tower (lock screen) and Mona Lisa (home screen). If we’re talking about my computer, I guess I’m stuck on an elevator with Sherlock (lock screen) and Leo Valdez (home screen). Ho-ho-ho I will be in an elevator with self-loathing mask-wearing joking-but-dead-inside heroes. That will be fun.
3. Last TV show/movie you watched?
I rewatched the last episode of The Crown again after I binged-watched Riverdale and re-re-re-binged-watched The Good Place. Movie-wise, it was the Filipino film called “Ang Larawan”. It’s actually hard for me to watch films because it takes a lot of time for me to stay focused in one episode.
4. A cottage on the beach or a cabin in the mountains?
Cabin in the mountains. I hiss angrily at beaches because I tan so easily and I kid you not, I haven’t swum in a beach since 2009. In a country where lighter paler skin was more cherished, and being an insecure bullied 10-year-old. You’ll understand why. Nowadays, I guess the habit just stuck. ALSO CABIN IN THE MOUNTAINS HOW FREAKING COOL WOULD THAT BE... I’d be surrounded by trees, it would be cold there, I can sit by the fireplace, look out my window to view the beautiful forest and night sky, and just drink whiskey, read a book, and quietly whisper, “Bless.”
5. Last song you listened to?
If we’re not including Brooke Simpson’s performances (specifically, “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”) in The Voice which I legit just binge-watched before opening Tumblr, it would be the Riverdale Cast’s cover of “Mad World.” I was shookt that I liked it.
6. Most recent obsession?
Video-editing. More-so than usual. I legit have anxieties when I’m not making a video. I should probably stop after finishing these videos I’m doing because I know it will hinder my studies (which I’m already failing at because of my worsening ADHD), and it’s already ruining my sleeping patterns and eating habits. It’s a toxic kind of obsession.
7. Last thing you googled?
“people find out harry potter is abused fic rec” shut up (if interested, click here)
8. Which city would you most like to visit?
(for the first time?) Athens. (again?) either Assisi or Rome or Paris. You can’t make me choose.
9. If you could bring one (1) fictional character to life, who would it be?
I’m having a hard time between Mary Watson (Sherlock) and River Song (Doctor Who) *sobs*
10. Favorite thing about yourself?
My... God, I don’t know, really. I don’t really like myself so how can I find a favorite thing about myself? My ability to brag for things I’m not even good at, I guess? False advertising of myself, I guess? HAHAHAHHA WAIT NO! My ability to make anything sad or depressing. Yes, I’m good at that. It’s not my favourite thing about me but out of all, that’s the only thing I think I’m really good at.
11. Ideal career?
Becoming a wife and mother. Some people give me odd looks for this but I really want to take care of people in ways I never experienced. I want to be there for some people—to feel needed and depended on—to be trusted, long-term.
Younger-me would be furious. She was aro-ace. As a person who grew up only relying on books as company, I thought I would grow up as the typical strong independent woman who is a CEO or is an actress, or a musical theatre performer... I used to want to be that...
But those dreams were based on what my family wanted. CEO because I grew up poor and being a CEO would make me financially stable which my parents wanted. Actress/Theatre Performer because my sister and I bonded through musical theatre, TV shows, and films, and we both love the arts (but I have to admit that she’s better than me with everything srsly im not kidding)...
But as just for myself? I really don’t see myself working for money, or working for the arts. I mean, obviously I want to work for money and for the arts, but... I want to work for people I care about—for a family I will finally not be scared enough to say “I love you” without fearing they would laugh in my face.
—oOo—
OKAY, NOW QUESTIONS FROM @musical-chick-13
1. If you could wake up and be magically good at something you’ve never done before (or have little experience doing), what would you want it to be?
The ability to quickly understand things I’m not interested in and explain them to people easily with how I understood them. I think that would help me a lot in my Law class now at uni. Seriously, I’m having troubles reading, and I always stutter in class because I’m not good at formal English.
My stupid brain needs time to process what I learned (which was written in English), explain it to myself (in Filipino), translate my explanation from Filipino to English, and focus enough to say those things out loud.
2. What is/are your favorite genre(s) of music?
I have an odd range: musical theatre, rock, indie, classical music, PIANO IS LIFE, ANYTHING AS LONG AS IT IS GOOD PIANO AT THE BEGINNING (usually starts with an A, idk why). Also, Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Hands down.
3. What was your first fandom?
Avatar: The Last Airbender. THE SERIES OKAY. A year after that was Harry Potter and Sherlock AT THE SAME TIME 2010 was a crazy year. Just like that, since I was eleven years old, I went down the road to fandom hell.
4. What is a play/musical/opera/etc. (basically any fictional work that’s not a book, movie, comic, or TV show) you like?
BOY YOU CAN’T MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN UGHGHGH ILL JUST PUT MY TOP SIX
Spring Awakening, Next to Normal, In the Heights. (I listen to the full album completely. The music is divine and the stories are beautiful. You got a story about sex, a story about mental illness, and a story about Hispanics). Spring Awakening’s and Next to Normal’s rock + violin music in a setting of 1800′s Germany and a typical family house, gets me on, ya know?
Sweeney Todd, Wicked, and Rent. (The typical classics I love, note that whenever Sweeney Todd’s Prologue and Wicked’s As Long as You’re Mine starts, I get orgasms just as much when the peak of Rent’s Goodbye Love goes). Great songs, seriously.
5. If you could get paid for doing a mundane task, what would you choose to get paid for?
Organising files.
6. What is a joke you really like?
My death.
7. If you had to have a job working under a fictional character, which character would you choose to be your boss and why?
Sherlock. He would know how to take care of me. He would know how to make me feel better. He has great work ethics, and he knows when to be harsh with his words and gentle, because he knows which people are deserving to be called idiots and those who are just insecure. Though I’ll probably annoy him because of how nervous I’d be but since “Faith Smith” I’d think he’d know how to deal with me, I guess.
8. What article of clothing is your favorite to wear (i.e., dresses, skirts, pants, suits, hats, jewelry, etc.)?
A gold necklace my grandmother gave to me because out of all my cousins (or our generation in our lineage), I’m the first one she gave an “inheritance” to because I happen to be her roommate. Considering that I am the dumbest in the family as well as the family freak, I consider this as my sole victory.
9. Do you consider yourself to be an optimist, a pessimist, or something else entirely?
A total pessimist. An optimist to those who are feeling pessimistic.  In my head, there is nothing but hopelessness, despair, and utter misery and pain. But homie, you say shit like that to me? You tell me you are feeling those? Yo, imma throw my rainbows and sunshine up your ass, you are gonna vomit glitter and light, I swear to all deities out there.
I may claim to say that I’m like this because I’m the only one who should be pessimistic, like I’m some narcissistic the-world-revolves-around-me idiot because I don’t like being depicted as anything else but manipulative, cruel, and an arsehole. So please stop telling me I’m nice or that I’m a good person. It makes me feel weird. They’re like unnatural things to say to me.
10. Feelings on cats?
Tolerable. My sister loves them. My school has cats just chilling around. They love me idk why. I love dogs more so I’m surprised they let me in their pack.
11. Favorite soda (or beverage in general if you don’t like soda)?
ALL MY FRIENDS KNOW OF MY WILD ADDICTION TO COCA-COLA.

7. Let’s pretend speed and distance (lol basically velocity), and quality are the same, would you rather be in a plane or a ship in a storm where there are many lightnings and thunder involved in December?
