Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives. Such striving may seem admirable, but it is the way of foolishness. Help them instead to find the wonder and the marvel of an ordinary life. Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears. Show them how to cry when pets and people die. Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand. And make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself. ~William Martin
Rewatching RTD era Doctor Who and thinking about how Journey’s End is more of a celebration of the history and spirit of Doctor Who than the 50th anniversary ever was
I love how Saiki’s creator introduced Satou the moment he expresses onscreen that yes, he finds Teruhashi’s advances annoying but he ofc care about her. It really went—
Them: *le GASP* He does care about her DoES tHaT MeAn—!?
Creator: Do you think he’s reciprocating? Fools. Meet his standard.
one thing i really love about humans is that we laugh when we are alone. there is no one to show our delight to, no one who we must perform for, no social cue to politely pick up on, and yet, when reading a book, watching a movie, seeing something funny happen outside the window, we laugh. we laugh not because we have to or because we have learned to, but because it is our natural reaction to joy. we laugh because we want to
idk i don't think bad wolf having no lingering effects on rose is a bad thing. the whole point of that arc is that even as she became this superpowered time goddess, she still remained incredibly human. her motivations remained human. that's what dw is about. being ordinary and human is beautiful. it saves the world, even!
Ordinary, having no special distinction or quality; widely known or commonly encountered; average or usual. At first glance you have seen this green grass often it is familiar, known. Look deeper beyond the usual, customary, or regular kind. It contains many shades of green as it moves with the wind and light. It is never the same as life touches it, it grows, adapts to the unknown. All the extraordinariness is hidden in the ordinary, look beyond the first glance.
Me: Naegi Makoto is the best, he is Hope, he is what that world submerged in despair needs. He is adored, he can make his way into anyone's heart, he can bring light to their lives. He HAD to be there for the future to be saved, the universe made sure of it by guiding his every moment towards that. His existence was solely conceived to oppose Despair. He is the Ultimate Hope and his memory will be carried through the centuries.
Also me: Makoto is literally Just Some Guy™. He's the most average little guy to ever average. He's just a normal dude trying his best in a terrible situation, and even his best ain't always it. Give this guy some painkillers and a pillow to nap on for a few hours.
fascinated by this little endearing exchange between george and adam, with george being his usual, curious, alert self ("what's this?!", he needs to know!) and the way adam without missing a beat takes the time to quickly explain the gaffa tape sort of stuff to him like you just know this isn't the first time this is happening.
I can never, ever forget that when I was 13, the school paper ran a "little-known facts about your teachers" column, and one of the teachers (science, I think?) said that she and her husband eloped just one week after meeting, while she was engaged to someone else! And they were still married like thirty years later! And I need, I NEED to hear the rest of that story! I want to watch a MOVIE about that story!
