Since the moment My Demon dropped its first teaser a few weeks ago, it has been my most anticipated upcoming drama, and the notion grows stronger with each new trailer and stills. It tells the story of a demon, who disdains humans and has been taking advantage of them for hundreds of years through devil-like contracts, and an aloof chaebol heiress, who unwittingly steals his powers while saving him and tricks him into a marriage of convenience, turning him into a bodyguard disguised as a husband. It's like Angel's Last Mission: Love (which I adored, plus the OTP visuals look similar as well), but what if Kim Dan were a cold-hearted bastard and a demon. Sounds delicious!

Moreover, Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung literally set the screen on fire with their insane chemistry; and KYJ finally doesn't get type-cast as the innocent poor candy who makes everyone fall in love with her because of her kindness and perfection. It's nice to see her play the arrogant and cold type for once. The cinematography looks good, the only thing which makes me a little anxious is that it's coming from the writer of My Queen, which was great for 19 and a half episodes, only for it to go down the drain in the final 30 minutes, but who knows, maybe that was only caused by the fear that the general SK audience just couldn't accept a man transmigrated into a female body giving birth to a baby and ending up with another man, a real historical king to boot. We shall see. My Demon premieres on 24 November.

Purple hearts this RWRB that, you guys are SLEEPING on Nicholas Galitzine's role in Wash It Down. Which is mostly being disappointingly straight, until he isn't, and inspiringly revolutionary, until he isn't. Dan is honestly just a whole neurotic mess, and we at tumblr do love us a good neurotic mess.

It's a tale as old as time, really. Girl meets boy, girl falls for boy, girl meets girl, boy betrays girl, girl falls for girl, boy falls for girl. Just your average love story.

Inappropriately timed renditions of the Mary Poppins 1964 soundtrack, that are guaranteed to slowly ruin your childhood until the word sugar inspires the inner arsonist in all of us.

First-Twilight-movie-levels of intense blue saturation of, well, everything. It's for the metaphor, guys, I'm sure the filmmakers knew what they were doing.

Carla and Dan are absolute OTP, until they aren't, and Carla and Talitha are absolute OTP, until Carla pulls a gun on Talitha and sings a lullaby to her. I am no longer sure the filmmakers knew what they were doing.

The world is Bad Bad Very Bad. Which I'm sure none of us can relate to.

Love is complicated and unstable, but like, in a shippy way. Mostly.

An oddly specific ring of imagery that becomes so convoluted that it starts to parody itself until the show is a metaphor for the show itself and even Christopher Nolan is raising his glass in reluctant admiration.

Senseless cliffhangers that are an interesting directing choice for sure. Bold, but interesting.

Very cute romance with a lot of attempted murder and societal rebellion thrown in. Hallmark is shaking.

How I feel about this character:

I love him, I really do! I had such a crush on Danny when I was a teen, made worse (or better, idk) by the fact that when the show aired, I was also just entering high school. So it was one of those, "oh look! A socially awkward teen also has to deal with the stress of living! He's just like me fr (minus the ghost powers on my part)!"

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Romantically? Vlad, Valerie, Clockwork, and Dan, but mostly Vlad.

Want to see him get railed and ruined and crying? Dan, Nocturne, Skulker, Wulf, Walker.

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

My unpopular opinion about this character:

This boy doesn't have a dominant bone in his entire body. I don't like reading top Danny fics, my boy deserves a break, and I'm also not a fan when he's taller and beefier than Vlad either. I stan a short king and I will take no criticism.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

It's a kids' show, so I know this was never gonna happen, but I would have loved to see him have a full psychological break. I'm talking an entire episode dedicated to Danny having a complete and total panic attack, Batman the Animated Series style. Parents want to catch and study him, one of his best friends keeps pushing him to do the superhero thing, parents and peers are pressuring him to date said pushy friend, he's failing in school, he can't retaliate against his primary bully, his future is screwed if he doesn't watch himself, the ghosts keep coming and they won't fucking stop, his sister keeps giving him these worrying looks like she's worried, why should she be worried? He's fine, everything's fine, he's only half-dead, what's the big deal?

Danny eventually has that panic attack the closer he gets to graduating, unsure of his future, scared he's gonna fail and never be able to leave Amity Park, terrified that all he has to look forward to is fighting ghosts and running/hiding from his parents. His future is forever uncertain because the alternate time line, and his friends can't understand, even if they're trying, but they just can't know what's going on with him, and he sees the fear in their eyes every time he brings up that dark future. He could go to Clockwork, but Clockwork will only give so much advice. He doesn't share more than is necessary to keep time in tact, so he eventually breaks and goes to Vlad. Who else could possibly understand if not the only other halfa in existence?

Basically, I would have loved to see him become increasingly overwhelmed until he had no choice but to run away and go to Vlad's. They make a temporary truce long enough for them to bond over their shared plight.

a headcanon fact:

Danny totally had a crush on Vlad the first time they met. Danny could look past that because he knew his mom wasn't interested, was happily married, and when Vlad wasn't focused on her, he could be pretty cool. Too bad he had to go and ruin it by revealing his evil intentions.

hhi! what is your fav ship and why?

Hi Hi back! Thanks for asking. And well, I have a few fav ships for various reasons. But I will go over a few of them that I love that are off the top of my head.

First one that I am gaining more traction is Zuko/ Katara. This one ship is one of those I was not looking to fall in love with it, it just found me, picked me up and said "You are coming with us now." Lol. But also giving it thought and seeing it from a personal, literary, meta, and animation analysis, they just click for me and make me happy to think of new ideas for them. I know it is not everyone's cup of tea, but I love this idea of what could be with these two for sure.

Next is Fakir/ Ahiru from Princess Tutu. I adore this enemies to partners to potential friends/ possible lovers. And also I love the story's message about being your true self and finding hope when things seem bleak. I won't go into too much details as I don't want to spoil the story- not only because it is really good, but it is meta has hell and I love the layers that they not only capture, but the rest of the world can empathize with.

InuYasha / Kagome: my original OTP growing up when I watched the show/ AMVs that I found of them on YouTube. I love their growth as characters as well as partners and relying on each other.

Tomoe/ Nanami from Kamisama Kiss. This made me realize I have a type, lol, but I can't help it. I love their growth as well as reliance on each other to help grow and support, and Tomoe finding himself more drawn to Nanami. But the best would be how they find out a huge secret about their relationship and how it actually started and just so freaking precious.

Dan Heng/ Stelle from Honkai Star Rail. This one is more personal but also I can see there being a romance between Stelle and Dan Heng to some degree.

Oh, and one non cartoon ship I guess, lol, would be Ziva/ Tony from original NCIS. Their chemistry, their banter, their story arc, and just support, damn! I did not know much of what happened to them after a few seasons and the actress for Ziva left, but I was routing hard for them.

And one more one more, but Harvey and Sabrina from Sabrina the Teenage Witch 1996 version. Just something about their chemistry and also the cute communication between them, and even Harvey coming to terms with her secret is also so sweet. (spoilier I guess if you have not seen it)

Thirteen and Yaz are a tragedy they had no time left no time.  Yaz coming to terms with her sexuality was an amazing thing, loving the doctor was an amazing thing and knowing she felt the same in return...but their story was cut short. 

I love so many of the moments in POTD and Thasmin has some great emotional ones (carrying her bridal style HELLO KJFDGSDJBGDSJ) BUT I feel robbed and its not just because they ran out of time its more like missed opportunities for an extra scene or two, another conversation, another heartfelt truth.

Look I didn’t need a kiss (I hoped for it I even expected it honk honk) and I am the FIRST person to vouch for platonic love (most my otp’s are actually platonic soulmates in canon and I value that SO much) but Yaz and thirteen were no longer platonic, they were romantic. You don’t compare someone to your wife or go on a date with them if they’re not. 

So yes I was expecting more (even though Jodie and Mandip and most of the cast nailed their performances) and the ep overall wasn’t bad at all and some of it made me feel things but the way Yaz moved on seemingly so easily and so fast felt wrong, the way thirteen clearly loved her but wrapped that up in sentences with Graham and Ryan and Dan (and again I love platonic love more than anything but girl thasmin was romantic) Dan saw it, WE saw it. So why did they do barely anything with it in the finale? 

Its weird because I don’t hate the ep nor the thasmin beautiful crumbs we got but I do feel that it was rushed that Yaz would never leave so easily even if it was out of love and being strong to move forward with her found family and acceptance of who she is. I didn’t get enough of Yaz and Thirteen. Maybe that was the point. But I’m still sad and kinda crushed even whilst holding onto those moments tonight where their love for each other was clear (and thats kudos to Jodie and Mandip)

Anyway join me in my AU where Thasmin kissed, got married, got to live a long life together (Dan as best man ofc) in some Rose/Ten kinda deal anything to just give them that time because I’m happy here and also have cookies.

what are your fav kdramas?

Yay! An ask on my main tumblr!! I have SO many favorite k-dramas that I love for different reasons but these are the ones that come to mind that I think about a lot.

Most of My favorite K-dramas:

Extraordinary You/ A Day Found By Chance (fantasy/romance): This magical k-drama has my heart. It plays with all of the predictable tropes and then just goes crazy! While not perfect towards the end, I give this show bonus points for being super creative AND inspiring me to read a LOT of fan fic. I think about this drama more than any other.

Fight for My Way (romcom) I love this drama! The couple is one of my OTPs and it’s really funny and a mostly lighthearted story of a group of friends. It’s down to earth and adorable - I’ve never had anyone complain about this one!

Melo Is My Nature (slice of life): This drama is by far my favorite slice-of-life drama of 2019. Found family, strong and complex characters, I laughed, I cried. Plus a gay character that’s an actual character, with the gay as a casual side note (classy k-drama!!) It was just a perfect show for me. There’s romance, but all of the stories are super interesting.

Shopping King Louie (romcom): Ridiculously fun and lighthearted romp following a spoiled and useless chaebol with amnesia who is being taken care of by a country bumpkin in the city. Very low stakes, super adorable couple, and as many tropes as you can fit in your bag, this one is one of my favorites to recommend.

Just Between Lovers (romance/melo): Slice of Life romance between poor trauma babies just trying to live! The OTP is one of my favorite couples EVER and even as the years go on, very few couples have matched their love in my opinion. There’s a lot of comfort/healing themes with for me is just *chef’s kiss.* Lee Junho became my bias wrecker because of that drama.

The Eighth Sense (bl queer romance): This is the only 2023 drama to make this list! It's super atmospheric and has so much more character development than any korean bl I've ever seen. I loved it so much!

Run On: (rom com) This show follows four people in their daily lives: An athletic, a translator, a CEO and an artist. Soft soft couples!! Y'all know I love this slice of life rom com for so many reasons, but you might not know that Kang Tae Oh’s character (the himbo painter) is like one of my dream boys. BLORBO FROM MY SHOWS. Also there is so much bi nuance and an ace character, just saying!

The Best Hit / Hit The Top (romcom): A famous 90′s boyband dude travels into the future and meets up with his family and friends in this really cute drama featuring Yoon Shi Yoon. I LOVE Yoon Shi Yoon in pretty much everything but this role was made for him - he is hilarious. It’s a slice of life but features the k-pop music industry so the setting is unique.

Into The Ring (workplace/romcom): The perfect slice-of-life rom com! Goo Se Ra has trouble holding down a job due to her passionate personality so after she loses her latest job working for the ML, she decides to run for a small government office position because it pays a salary. Literally she does it for the money which is just *chef’s kiss.* The show is about her dealing with local politics and it’s SO FUNNY and smart and the OTP is the best! 

Flower of Evil: A psychological thriller centered around a jewelry maker who is running from his past, and his cop wife (power couple alert!)  who doesn’t know his original identity. The chemistry of the couple is amazing and all of the characters are nuanced and interesting. I was on the edge of my seat, AND sobbing! I’m going to be rewatching this in 2021 for sure. 

The Smile Has Left Your Eyes (psychological thriller): This drama has a lot of psychological thriller-y aspects but the style of filming is really interesting and the leads could not be more angsty (especially the guy). It takes them a while to get together and while not entirely pleasant, this show is one of my faves.

Healer: Everyone knows healer will always have my heart and it’s a super popular k-drama. Healer is played by Ji Chang Wook (swoon) and he gets involved with a feisty reporter played by Park Min Young (also swoon). It’s an action adventure with some very classic tropes: Rich people scandals, murders and hidden pasts. But it also has some of my favorite tropes: Beta Male Lead, childhood friends to lovers and traumatic pasts.

Cheating because it's a jdrama: Cherry Magic! (30-sai made Dotei Da to Mahotsukai ni Nareru rashii): I know this is a Jdrama but it’s the only drama that got a perfect score from me in 2020! If you’ve never felt like trying a jdrama, Cherry Magic is the one! Every episode was so endearing and sweet, and it even has ace representation, and does it well! I basically smiled the whole time and loved every second. Soft Romance and the best couple!
