Warnings: non/dubcon, and other dark elements. My username actually says you never asked for any of this.
My warnings are not exhaustive but be aware this is a dark fic and may include potentially triggering topics. Please use your common sense when consuming content. I am not responsible for your decisions.
Characters: Destroyer!Chris
Summary: A stranger buys the farmstead nearby and disturbs your sleepy village life.
Part of the Backwoods AU

You come up to the bakery, the wagon rolling noisily behind you. You peer through the window as you try to pep talk yourself into going inside. You near the door but shy away as someone else does the same. You wait for them to go in before you do the same.
The door hits the wagon as you draw it inside. It’s bit of a hassle to get it through and there isn’t much room between the counter, the customers, and the table. You’re just in everyone’s way.
“Hey,” your name slices through the dread, “over here.”
You spin and see Chris standing behind a table against the wall. You clear your throat and put your head down, murmuring excuse mes as you weave your way through the queue. You steer the wagon up next to the table and bend the handle back.
“I was getting nervous,” he says.
You look at him. What does he mean?
“I got you some pie,” he gestures to the table, “but uh, wasn’t sure if you do tea or coffee.”
“I’m okay,” you sit and fold your arms, trying to shrink down as the business of the place makes you sweat.
“I still gotta grab myself a coffee, so I don’t mind,” he stays standing.
“It’s fine,” you stare at the pie. It looks delicious but it feels like a trap.
“Well, then, I’ll just have to guess,” he shrugs and backs away.
He marches over to join the line of customers. You hunch down as you peek over at him. His hair is shaved close on the sides, the top a bit longer, softer looking, and his goatee looks thicker than your first meeting. The shadow of stubble darkens his jaw and adds to its squareness. You think he’s older than you, he must be.
He holds his wallet in his hand, tapping it on his thigh as he waits. The muscles in his arms tense with each move. His biceps are huge. You shouldn’t stare like that.
You turn to look at the pie. It’s just pie; pastry, sugar, and apple. So why does it taunt you?
You wallow in the internal battle. You can’t unwind the riddle that is this stranger. Why did you agree to come here? You could’ve just told your grandma his name and she’d leave you alone. Well, you’ve always been terrible at saying no.
“Honey cinnamon latte,” Chris startles you as he sits across from you, clinking down a large bowled cup in front of you as he puts his own at the other end.
“Um,” you blink and swallow tightly, “thank you.”
“No problem,” he smiles. You look at the dusting of cinnamon across the foam. Silence bubbles up between you, the buzz of the other customers doing nothing for the tension. “You know, I haven’t gotten out much. My first trip to town.”
You nod and wring your hands in your lap.
“You come here often? It’s a nice place?”
You shake your head.
“Right, uh,” he crosses his arms over the table and leans forward, “you haven’t tried the pie.”
You bite the inside of your lip and reach for the fork. You slice off the corner of the slice and lean forward to take a bite. You feel him watching you as you scoop it into your mouth and you meet his unwavering gaze. You quickly pull the fork away and chew.
You choke down the flaky crust and try to smile, “it’s good.”
He sighs and brings a hand up to prop his chin in. He squints at you, “you don’t like me.”
“Hm?” Your eyes nearly pop out of your head, “No, I didn’t–”
“I’m being pretty damn nice here,” he grits, “and you won’t even look at me.”
“I’m… sorry, I’m just…” nervous, useless, shy, broken, stupid… You could go on but you’re too embarrassed to say it out loud. “I wasn’t… I just came to get groceries.”
“I’m confused,” he says promptly and drops his arm again, sitting up as he keeps his elbows on the table, “you walk all the way up to my place and give me a sweet little pie, then run away like I’m some sort of monster.”
“Well, I… I was just… my grandma sent me,” you chuff out, “I’m sorry, I’m…” you put the fork down and reach for your satchel. You pull out your change purse and look over at the menu, “I’ll pay you back for the pie and coffee.”
“Keep your damn money,” he growls and you flinch, sitting up straight at the harshness in his tone. “It’s my treat. I want you to enjoy it. If you’d just relax.”
You stare at him. His jaw ticks and he clutches his hands tightly together. His knuckles turn white as his arms flex against the constraint of his tee shirt.
The change purse slips out of your hands and sends coins all around. You squeak and slip off the chair to gather up the mess. You reach around the wagon as you feel the eyes of everyone else witnessing your disaster. As you reach the other wheel, Chris meets you with a handful of nickels and dimes.
You take them shamefully and stuff them away. The thought of paying him back with scrounged up coins chafes in your cheeks. This can’t get any more humiliating.
“Thanks,” you clasp the change purse shut and stand. You look at the wagon then the table. You’ve already upset him, you should just sit down and be polite, just like Grandma would tell you.
You resume your seat and pull close the cup. You bend to inhale the scent of cinnamon. He watches your every move. You peer up at him, eyes glazing with unspent tears.
“It smells really good,” you squeak out. He nods and stares. You lift the cup and take a dainty sip, patting away the residue with your knuckle, “it’s really good. Thank you, Chris.”
The agitation twitches in his jaw one last time and he lets his shoulders relax. He reaches across to nudge the pie closer to you. You grab the fork again and line up the plate with the large cup. Your stomach churns even as the sweet aroma tempts you.
“Where I’m from,” he leans in as you poke at the flaky criss cross of the crust, “people aren’t so nice.”
You blink at him as the edge in his voice tingles down your spine.
“We operate on respect,” he says tersely.
You hover the forkful of pie above the plate and gulp. Your lips part as you stare at him. What did you do wrong?
“Do you know what respect is?” He sneers.
“Sir–”
“That’s a start,” he interjects hotly, “respect is accepting a damn gift with a smile on your face, sugar.”
Your cheeks pinch and your eyes tinge. You make yourself smile and shovel the pie into your mouth. You flick your lashes against the swell in your throat.
“That’s it,” he scoffs, “you’re learning.”

omundson I posted about this role the other day but have more to say, I was honored and proud when rickriordan & danshotzy invited me to be a part of their incredible creation, percyseries , not just because it would mean joining a Dream List of guest stars , like legends, lin_manuel , ratedrcope , meganomullally and the late great, thereallancereddick Just to name a FEW, but also because Hephaestus 🔥⚒️, like myself and 1 in 4 Americans, are disabled * note my Cane, hanging off my cover alls, in the lower left corner of this photo. The incredible props department built it to the same specifications as the one I use in real life, although mine , sadly is not made of gold🧐. There was never any question of whether I should try and hide my disabilities , which I can’t do anyway. They are a part of who I am and I’m beyond grateful to Rick, Dan and #JonSteinberg for giving me the opportunity to play this strong, dignified and thriving character , as many in my community actually are, but you rarely get to see on your screens. #RepresentationMatters #PerformersWithDisabilities 💪🏻this show was made with so much love and is going to knock your socks off. SO... do you headcannon anyone in horizons as autistic?
OH BOY DO I
so dot is the most obvious choice. there is no universe in which she is not autistic to me. this is one of my strongest dot headcanons actually and one of the main reasons i enjoy her as a character. there are so many reasons for this i could go on endlessly but i'll just list a few big ones here
her extreme passion for her interests at a disregard for almost everything else & her ability to self teach those topics (not to mention her interests have to do with computing)
her difficulties with food overlap a lot with food sensitivities autistic people often have, also her latching onto donuts as a sort of samefood after finally trying them once
the tendency to wear loose, comfortable clothes and more recently she has complained while wearing tighter clothes (the orange academy school uniform) so it's not just that she prefers loose fabric, she also is put off by the alternative. girl your sensory problems
irritable outbursts when struggling to articulate herself/make herself understood
her connection with kanuchan (tinkatink) felt really neurodivergent to me. she wasn't offput by her behavior, even after stealing her prop mic, and was immediately able to understand her when no one else could or was willing to. not sure how to articulate this one right now but i hope you see what i mean
her tendency to sit cross legged and lean over herself reminds me a lot of my personal autistic tendency to need a pressure/weighted feeling while i sit or have body parts touching
social exhaustion, the need to be alone sometimes even when she cares
the list genuinely goes on i have to stop myself LOL
as for other characters,
so for liko i'm more loose about the headcanon, it's definitely more of me projecting than her being overtly autistic in canon but i still think it lines up if u wanna view her that way. i'm autistic and i personally relate to liko a lot becauseee
she is giving hyperempathy autism to me. the way she is overly empathetic and compassionate to her own detriment and yet still has to have her hand held through articulating & dealing with that or putting the logical parts of empathy together
the way she absolutely fucking Explodes with excitement sometimes
the way in which she relates to cats, and her whole thing about having a hard time getting other people to understand her. these two things go hand in hand
there's something neurodivergent about her trying to connect with sprigatito by studying her and writing notes about her behavior lol
while this is kind of just on the account of her being an anime character and a protagonist at that, liko's facial expressions and body language can be pretty exaggerated sometimes which reminds me of my own body language, i'm cartoonishly animated in real life often LOL
so like basically dot is so obviously autistic to me it's like breathing but for liko it's kind of a hc i apply to her for projection purposes & fun but i think it's reasonable
and lastly so i'm not just talking about solely liko and dot for the millionth time,
ORIO!! honestly we don't even know that much about orio but the one episode where she was helping pokeball lady i forget the name of fix her machine. the really narrow attention to detail/seeing the smaller parts instead of the bigger picture. also her expertise in engineering contrasted with her struggling with tasks outside of that (like when she was trying to sew holes in the brave asagi and for the life of her could not do it so she called murdock for help lol)
and actually one more - while i don't necessarily headcanon amethio as autistic, i think it's a fun headcanon/au idea to not only give him a redemption arc but an autism unmasking arc at the same time. representation for all my repressed autistics out there. in my mind

Hello! My name is Moriah and I am a junior in high school. I was wondering if I might be able to get your insight on a few questions I have?
I am in my final years of high school and am starting to think about college but I have no idea what I want to pursue. I know I love art, so for a long time I have been thinking about getting an art major or going to an art school.
I’m reaching out because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR ART and I think you are a very talented artist! I have been in love with your art for so long and I am curious and wondering how you are able to fit drawing into your life?
1.) If you went to college for art, what was it like? Do you think going to school for art or having an art major is worth it?
2.) how can I fit art into my everyday life? I’m sure you have work and other things to do in your life so how do you balance it out? (I just want to know how you can draw as much as you do!)
3.) do you do art as a full-time career or part-time career? is it an alright source of income? If it is a part-time career, how do you balance work, personal life, and art?
Thank you so much! And sorry if these questions might seem personal. I just want to know how other artist manage to draw and create their work and still have an adult life. Hi Moriah! Thank you so much for your patience since it took me a bit to answer this. I'll do my best to be as honest as possible.
1) I think going to college can be beneficial even if I wish i'd done things differently. In hindsight I would have definitely taken more time to really look through all available options instead of gunning straight for the most "prestigious" looking colleges since the idea of having a big name school on your resume was pretty prevalent when I was growing up. I went to Savannah College of Art and Design or SCAD for short and while I don't regret the friends I made there, I do regret not understanding just how much an institution like that ended up costing in loans compared to what I got out of it education wise. It always hurts my heart to see other kids get chained to huge amounts of student loan debt that could have been avoided.
And even then you don't necessarily need a college degree for every type of art job. Your portfolio is what really matters more to prospective work places if you're looking at a career related to art. I would also keep in mind that the field is very competitive depending on what your goals are. Do you want to get into animation? game design? illustration? comics? prop design, character design or environment design? ect ect. Always try and give yourself the best advantage you can with researched knowledge of what you might be getting yourself into. Also there is no rush to go immediately into college even if you're dead set on wanting to attend one. Please give yourself as much time as you need to really make that decision and, if you have the option, don't feel pressured into thinking you HAVE to make that choice immediately out of high school.
2) I do get quite a bit of production art done on my days off mostly since I'm very experienced in working on group projects like Mystery Skulls Animated. When you're doing art and production work with other people, there's a different mindset in that others are relying on you to keep decently productive so that you're not holding up the pipeline if you're dedicated to seeing a project through to completion.
Now when it comes to purely fun art on the side, I've actually only recently started balancing my time out better with work to sketch since the draw back of working on a group project like this for so long is a certain level of burn out. I had about a 2-3 year period where I couldn't get myself to draw much of anything even if I was excited about something like a new game or animated series and it's taken awhile to come to terms with the time lost since my body and head needed that time to recover and that's something i'm much more ok with now. I'm not the absolute best on advice for time management unfortunately, but seeking out projects that might interest you and lets you collaborate with other artists is definitely one way to keep yourself excited and engaged when wanting to make art. Just know and/or learn your limits and you'll be better about not getting too burned out when trying to find that decent balance of art time and other life activities.
3) I actually don't do art full time even if that was originally the plan back in college. I personally found out that I didn't want to turn it into a job the closer graduation came, but that varies completely from person to person and plenty of up and coming artists have found fulfillment in having art be their job too. I used to make prints for conventions so that was a partial income source for a little bit, but again for me it got tiring and I ended up getting a different more physical job to supplement my income while still being able to have enough time to stick around with my friend group on our music video projects.
And again there's no shame in taking some time in trying to figure out if you want to make art your job and coming to a different conclusion. Sometimes the things we plan when we're younger take a wildly different turn out of left field and education or job aspirations are very much included in that.

I'd really like to talk about this Hazbin Hotel fan song made by PARANOID DJ
The more I listen to this, the more pain and dark I feel. This song tone is so different from, for example, Angel's ones. When I listen to Spider's thiemes, I always, just a lil, have feeling that he sings his soul out to someone else to watch. Idk how to explain it more properly..shamely. I just can't convince myself otherwise.
Husk, on the other hand, has ...real darkness, hopelessness, rage inside .
God, I... I really'd wanna have something like this in actual show. It brings nerves & pain the same as "Poison". Just..different shades of that darkness.
If I didn't know better, I could say, I actually believed in his words ... about "nothin' left to be redeemed" ...😓

No, actually, my brain ain't done yet.
I honestly doubt this lyrics would fit the same way, if it was Kith David (hope I wrote name correctly) who 'd sang it. His voice incredible & majesticly unique, but it brings more... lightfull tense, more positive vibe (like in "Looser, Baby") imo.
But, ykw, I don't really have big problems dealin' with v. a. recast.
I perceive the characters from the pilot and the series as somehow... separate.
This applies to everyone, but now, after this song, Husk somehow especially stood out. I simply didn’t see THAT deep, impenetrable darckness of indifference in his serial self.

I'm not replying to those posts because contrary to popular belief I'm not THAT much of a killjoy, I get that there's some degree of tongue-in-cheek, blah blah blah, but. just my two cents.
I'm seeing a lot of attention to jason & alfred's dynamic lately that's all "oh alfred HATES jason, thinks he's the worst, jason's the one that considers alfred family but alfred's classist ass hates him" and listen, by all means, insult alfred, I don't want this to come across as me looking like I give a fuck about how you talk about his character lol. he is not just classist but straight up praises feudal England as the "better days" ajskkdkd. but alfred was perfectly nice in his interactions during jason's time at the manor, telling bruce unprompted that he likes having the kid around, helping him with & praising him about school assignments... and there's "the delusions of alfred pennyworth" in gotham knights #34 aka that adorable, bittersweet story where alfred sees jason's ghost playfully mess around the house.
my point is that alfred is not a consistent character in the comics. you could say that about many people in detective comics comics but imo alfred is a particularly malleable character that functions more like a prop than an independent entity. I think you can unite all of those things into a compelling picture, if you cared to. that compelling picture is not gonna be "lol alfred hated jason and wanted that street urchin gone from minute one 🤮" like that's just... flat and banal. similar to the "lol tim hated robin!jason for replacing his Idol, Dick the True Robin, he hated jason and celebrated his death!!". it's just taken a fanon trend you don't like (alfred behaving grandfatherly with jason or being a Jason Understander, jason being "tim's robin" and all the titan's tower tropes that come with it. I get it, I find those boring as hell too), and going so far in the other direction in the name of "canon compliance" that you actually just land into a particularly baffling, irksome caricature that ignores canon just as much (not that I think it's going to take off, fic wise, just like I don't think "tim hates jason" has. because again, there's nothing there to pull from in a creative way, while the uwu fanon, like it or not, at least enables some level of inventiveness).
meanwhile, look. I don't incorporate whatever prime earth!jason does into my belief system as a general rule (unless it's good and I like it. that happens rarely), and either way at the current point I'm at there's very little to say about jason's view of alfred (which I'm sure will change when alfred is killed and gets canonised). there's that scene where he and tim shit talk his cooking only behind his back (waffles, iirc??), or one scene where alfred scolds jason for not seeing how much he was mourned or something, and then geoff johns tries to convince me it was alfred who put up jason's memorial case in the cave, as if there's a universe where that makes any goddamn sense. and to my knowledge, there's not even an equivalent to alfred's shitty inner monologue about kid!jason in UTRH, so those things don't even exist together (UTRH would have to exists in the first place lol).
regardless, focusing on new earth!jason, post-resurrection... I don't think he mentions alfred once. the very few times we get a peek into his mind (lost days) there's zero attention paid to alfred. he seeks out ways to connect with dick or tim (incredibly unhinged ways but, hey). and obviously bruce is the most important person in his world. but he never seeks out alfred, and jason was someone who reached out to people he wanted to connect with (again, in fucked up ways, we're not discussing that at the moment xDD).
I don't want to turn this into the reverse myself ("lol jason couldn't care less about alfred, it's alfred who has the messy feelings here"), which would be equally flat and banal. there's, again, a wide array of options to be taken with this information to put together a compelling dynamic. it's just that "jason holds alfred in the highest regard, over everyone else in the bat clan, and alfred thinks of him as nothing but a pest he's glad to be rid of from the get go" is not something that I see compatible with what I, personally, know and believe of canon.

NieR Reincarnation The People and the World
Amber Spoiler Post & Theory Hour
Mama on Mama on Mama on Mama in this one. And I'm going to look a little bit too deep into that. Far too deep actually.
What can I say. They did a good job with the shitty gacha game. I'm so sorry, but I am once again validated in my opinion that this is the best NieR writing right behind YoRHa:Dark Apocalypse. It's just. Chef's Kiss.
And sure, I still prefer Sun/Moon over People/World as a story since that one just managed to weave the themes so well with the stories and everything whereas this one has certain moments where it doesn't really line up with stuff it has already established (some/many of the stories kind of seem to disregard parts of their hidden/ex stories which feels weird, also where are hina and yuzuki in all of this as rogue cage wanderers, i have a feeling they're not going to address them at all (which imo would be fine but kind of disappointing)), but we're finally getting the lore payoff we know to expect from Drakenier and it feels so good.
And you know, I did notice that all the seasons so far were in two distinct parts that lined up with their name - and as this was obviously the The People part I was wondering before playing this morning what the The World part would be about. But it didn't even occur to me that we could be going to the "Real World"... (Put a Pin in that)
But let's get into it.
Mama meets Accord
(who I'm sure somebody has called mommy before)
I mean at this point we know she's coming - we just don't know when and how. I do wonder if these more and more overt mentions of her might be setup for the next NieR/DoD4 because I feel like Accord as a character would be prime real estate for the new big game, but of course it would also make perfect sense for her to show up here, she already has an established presence in the Cage - and I mean she could just do both!
It's interesting to note btw that the coffer that Yudil's story explicitly points out has recently appeared in the most recent Bakuken stage play (the one that's called Finale even though it's not the final one) where a portuguese merchant (The Cathedral City is on the Iberian Peninsula) called Michael (you know, like the Dragon) had it. Of course, they might also just have reused the prop since they made one for the YoRHa stage play Accord appeared in...
Mama meets Mother
She's giving Mother and she's back with a vengeance rhythm game. Amazing. Tens across the board. I love her fascinator head piece.
As the Mother Expert that I call myself I have to point out some things here:
a) What exactly is Mother Mourning? The Watchers have up until now only been described as motivated by a fervent hate of Humanity and anger - the Gods want to claw themselves free of their humanity-imposed seals and devour the world - so why is this version explicitly shown as sad? Her battle dialogue also kind of sounds... betrayed in a way? "Why Protect People? Destroy" and "Our objective. Why?" seem to hint that maybe Mama (points right at the name) was in with Mother this whole time but has now turned against her. And it makes me wonder if the Cage is a way for humanity to enslave the gods they sealed for profit...
But also, given recent Developments in SinoAlice JP's Ending Arc, there's likely something else in the Cage that the Mourning Mother could be talking to. Maybe the thing we saw in that one cutscene is actually protecting humanity?
b) With some of that already in mind I was thinking about her pose and was trying to find some connection to the dance of her Intoner version in the DoD3 Final Boss when it occured to me in a one-two punch: She's shackled. The Cage is for Her. She's what is Caged. And doesn't that sound like a seal that keeps a certain Round Egg at bay that I have an exciting theory for-
Tangent: Mama meets my Round Egg Theory
okay so strap in because it's time to bring up the thing I bring up every chance I get!
We know there's a connection between the Memory Tree and the Moon Server Data through two things:
a) In the Replicant Remaster's new Ending Kainé goes into the Memory Tree's Data to bring Nier back - which of course means that the Memory Tree contains Nier's data. This is important because
b) In YoRHa:Dark Apocalypse (My Love <3) the Red Girls have a Seed (we'll get back to that in a second) - and out of that Seed grows a Tower that contains "Ego Collectives" of People, which is basically the collection of memories that makes up one person.
Now I know that everyone just handwaved that away as a way to have cheap Replicant references as the first two bosses with the Remaster coming up but lol wouldn't that be easy, did you forget who you're dealing with? Because the exact two bosses used (Knave of Hearts and Hänsel and Gretel) means there's only one person this Ego Collective could belong to: Nier, because only he fought Hänsel and Gretel. (let's ignore that Weiss was there too bc that would be a dumb!!! this is much more fun bc of the implications!!!)
And I'm positive that this was intentional because in the remaster ending - in a scene that's eerily similar to the fight in Tower at Paradigm's Breach - Kainé only fights her memory of Gretel without Hänsel, so they knew.
Why does that matter? It doesn't really, I just wanted to bring it up as a little fun fact, but what does matter is that Y:DA establishes that whatever that Seed the Red Girls have recreated is, it also contains all the memories from the Memory Tree, because that's where those memories were recorded. And they were recreating it, which implies there was a basis to recreate. And that was always the big future overarching NieR plot thread that Y:DA left me with - sure, we know this is where it all ends, the Watchers are over now and this time forever through collaboration and power of friendship - but how did we even get here? How did the Red Girls get a Seed to recreate?
And now it fits right in with what's happening, especially now that we know what exactly the Moon Server can do:
The Moon Server/The Cage can peer into different universes - we know that since at least Hina and Yuzuki (Yuzuki knows Reinkane exists as a game but also their EX stories) - but as far as we know the Seeds only exist in Drakengard's Universe. So why do the Red Girls/The Watchers/The Mourning Mother want to get into the Moon Server/Cage so Bad? (It was even sort of highlighted in the Automata Anime where Adam transformed into a giant Reincarnation Mob - implying really hard that the Red Girls/Logic Virus is indeed behind the attacks on the Cage) Well, maybe it's because they want the Round Egg, because they have been separated ever since DoD1's Final Boss and they need it to Dark Apocalypse.
Before this chapter I thought that the entire Memory Tree might have been built from Seeds in the first place and that's why the Red Girls want into the Moon Server to get a basis to copy - I thought it would make sense that humanity somehow got that dimension-crossing technology needed for it out of a Seed - but that would require the NieR world to have Seeds to use for that and we know next to nothing about them so I just kept it in the back of my mind until something else comes along to strengthen it. I also didn't want to base too much on the cross-over one, even if I personally really don't understand why people are so hesitant to call it canon, it's definitely canon, it's one of the few things Yoko Taro is directly credited to have written the past few years and he literally always writes stuff that right away retcons things, so even if it changes details with Automata he has done the exact same thing multiple times now. ("It's not DoD3's Ending A that leads to DoD1, it's the version of Ending A in this specific novella that's basically the same except for one small thing.")
But you know what other tangentially related thing I can bring up that you won't believe I will stuff into this theory? Why yes, It's Yuki Wada's Breakout Hit Voice of Cards: Forsaken Maiden. And fair warning, this is where it gets entirely unfounded. And also spoilers for that game's ending.
I have the long and well-documented theory that the Spirits from VoC:FM might be the Watchers. In that game Maidens need to sacrifice themselves to the Gods so they 'keep humanity save' in return - but it ends with Laty (the female MC) going into an eternal slumber to sort of 'trap' the gods in her everlasting dream so humanity is save without them. And because I always found that very reminiscent of Drakengard 1's Goddesses I theorized that VoC:FM might have been the folkloric 'inception story' of that system, humanity just reiterated on the mechanics of it so it's spread over multiple people instead of one so nobody has to go to sleep forever.
So with that as an foundational thought, what if humanity did that again? What if they extended it again on more people so fewer people have the sort of responsibility Laty or Furiae had? What if they didn't only extend it to a finite number of people - what if they extended it to every human in every dimension that ever experienced any form of prolonged misery (or whatever else the requirements are to end up in the cage lol)
So what if the Cage is the Seal? What if keeping the Seeds locked up is the purpose of the Cage? What if the Cage is a Cage?
And if the Cage is just NieR's Goddess Seals then the Watchers have a really good reason to get in there: The exact same reason as in Drakengard 1.
But I'm not done. Because what if Mama didn't know that. What if Mama just knew there's a server on the moon and basically every single person ever is trapped in it, eternally doomed to relive the most horrible pain and suffering imaginable for some reason - and some figure, a mother figure if you will, told her she could fix their suffering. That she could change the system for the better by giving them hope and respite by giving them an afterlife. But that was a lie. The figure just wanted her to weaken the system built on sin and suffering so she could break through it and reach the Seeds.
What if Mama (points at the name) realised she was tricked by Mother and is now trying to fix her mistakes? And that's why Mother is Mourning, because she betrayed her?
Don't think so. Mama didn't seem all that "remorseful". But maybe something along those lines though.
Depending on SinoAlice JP's ending whatever other being the Library turns out to be might also be involved - maybe the Library is a god that turned away from the Watchers to help humanity and the Cage is instead a way to protect the being that is the Library which in turn protects humanity... That would be a full circle moment to VoC:FM too...
Either way I'm so stoked to find out what's really happening!!!
Mama meets Mama in the Real World
Already talked alot about Mama, but let's just all applaud ourselves for reading the room! We did it! We knew!
Just as theorized she was 10H all along! Probably should go reread her story to see if it still lines up with what I theorized above... And she's pretty. And has almost the same haircut as Hina and Marie. Hmm. Maybe they should have chosen one of the other Marie designs.
(Small correction: I read that last scene wrong, seems like Mama isn't 10H but Pod 006 - but since the character we're getting is 10H I'll still say we were right :3 ...and yeah, we do control the pod in that scene, makes sense, don't know why I went straight to Mama has to be 10H)
What I'm actually more interested in though is where we're going with this. Like what can she even do in the "Real World", doesn't 10H die constantly in her story for disobedience? So she can't be allowed to do all of this, right? I do think a "We rebuild the Cage on Hopes and Dreams" is in order, but the way to get there... ah! Look, it's the Pin I made you keep in mind!
What if they don't go to that Real World. What if they go to our Real World? Hina & Yuzuki - who came from our or at least another Real World - are notably absent from this arc. And that could just be because the true ending being optional makes things harder for the devs to write around and they want the spotlight off of them bc they were the main characters, but still: I would love a chapter or even just a scene of their perspective of what happens to the Cage. I mean what happens to them now that the Cage falls apart? Could Dark Mama and Papa save them just like Mama did with the others? Do we maybe even meet Dark Mama's and Papa's real forms?
But there's another character that immediately comes to my mind when we talk about "the Real World". And it's because of a throwaway line that I never see anybody bring up... mainly because nobody likes Y:DA.
In her final letter to Konogg, Anogg explains that at some point she visited another world (likely when she fell into the Pseudo-Seed) and in doing so she learned that both her and the world are constructs - which implies she knows that a Real World exists from which this world was created. And sure, that could have been a meta-joke about haha video game. But her constructed self also displays several similarities to moments in Noelle's Chapter - which came out vaguely around the same time - and now all of this lines up with what's happening in the Cage. So yeah. What if the ending scene is her emerging from the Cage to save Konogg just like these characters have done this entire arc? All I have to say is #AnoggForReincarnation. She would be perfect. Do it.

Today’s Lesson: Clothes Make The Characters
Today’s Teacher: Swolemates by LummyPix
Hi, I'm back! And by back I mean I had an idea for a lesson and have returned to impart it to the masses before disappearing back into my cave.
I've been reading Swolemates by LummyPix and generally enjoying it- the jokes are generally pretty funny and the story, a college comedy about a gamer jock and the influencer next door, is genuinely unique for the platform. And of the three main gripes I have with it, two of them are minor nitpicks (the character names are all a few letters off from names an actual person might have, the desaturated color palette makes everyone's skin look slightly gray), but one is, I think, more broadly applicable to other comics as well.
Clothing.
Making a comic is hard because in addition to being a writer and a draftsperson, you have to also be a prop designer, actor, set designer, colorist, cameraman, and costumer all in one. That last role in particular is missing from Swolemates, where all of the characters are first year college students that wear plain T-shirts, tank tops, and sweatpants all the time.
I've been reading a lot of Derek "Menswear Guy' Guy's tweets lately, like many people, and one of the ideas he brings up a lot is that clothing is a language. Your outfit communicates things about you to the people who see you: information about your status, occupation, and personality. A comic that doesn't pay attention to the clothing the characters wear is missing out on an opportunity to tell the reader additional information about their characters, which I feel like is happening here.
The reader is told that Dani is a Popular Girl and Shaye is Alt/Nerdy, and while their hair and makeup reflects those characteristics, their clothing does not. Most of the time, every single character is wearing a plain, solid-color T-shirt. Nobody ever wears a pattern or a shirt with a graphic or text on it.
You don't! You look like a video game avatar someone stopped customizing after they finished the hair and face! Which is worse!
The makeover arc the above screenshot comes from is not used for the traditional makeover arc reason of showing the reader the protag in many cute outfits, but to allow Alex and Shaye to bond more and show how Alex is so fit and buff regular pants don't fit her. Which is a missed opportunity to find Alex clothes she looks good in that fit her personal style and aesthetic, and that would distinguish her from the rest of the cast.
The desaturated color palette doesn't help either.
After this sequence, Alex and Dani both go right back to wearing plain solid-color t-shirts, and occasionally tank tops. The makeover and Dani's interest in fashion are both fleeting and temporary.
A simple change that would increase the realism of everyone's outfits and add personality would be to put graphics on the shirts. Shaye could wear anime merch, Alex could wear video game shirts, Dani could wear college merch. If there's one thing I know about college student fashion, it's that everyone ends up wearing shirts they got for free from their school at random events, and nerdy kids wear shirts about the things they like (as a comics major at art school, I found myself in multiple classes where every single student was wearing a shirt from a comic/movie/game they like.)
A more involved change would be to assign everyone a general color palette they tend to wear and make sure they wear things with patterns, prints, and accessories, at least occasionally. Shaye could wear skinny jeans, Docs, band wristbands. Alex could wear streetwear that is both comfortable for her and reflects her video game interests.
The makeover sequence also serves to communicate to the reader that the creator is not personally interested in fashion or clothes and will not be considering them in this comic, which is a real shame because, like I said, clothing is an opportunity to show readers more about what kind of people these characters are, and is an important part of character design. The clothes people wear are often not even about what's currently fashionable (especially these days, with current trends cycling faster than a washing machine), but out of a desire to signal that you belong to a particular group. Like how finance bros all wear those fleece vests, and fans of musicians wear shirts from their concerts.
It's easy to feel intimidated by the amount of history and possibilities fashion opens up in regards to character design, so creators who aren't personally interested in fashion might try to avoid thinking about it because it's easier that way. But if you take the time to do a bit of research and think a bit about what your characters would actually wear, it will pay off.
Also, as a practical consideration, iconic clothes a character wears could become merchandise for your comic later on!
Exercise: Now it's your turn to give your characters a wardrobe overhaul! Draw your characters in their underwear as a base, copy paste that base several times, and draw a few outfits over it. Try to come up with at least 3 daily wear outfits, what the character wears to sleep, a formal look and a first date look. Think about what your characters value in clothing-- comfort, showing off, expressing their personality, belonging to a subculture? Where do your characters get their clothes- do they go shopping with friends, do their parents pick them out, are they wearing a school or work uniform whenever we see them and if so how do they customize that uniform, if they do customize it? Also consider color schemes and recurring motifs.
Webtoon Recs: I want to recommend Cursed Princess Club again because it's not a comic about fashion in any way, but it uses the characters' clothing to communicate information extremely effectively. Everyone's outfits communicate where they're from and what their position is. Everyone from the Pastel Kingdom wears pastels, everyone from the Plaid Kingdom wears plaid, everyone from the Geometric Kingdom wears shapes. Calpernia's crown has a net attached to it to allude to her spider-themed curse. The major characters are also clearly color coded, making it easy to keep track of them in a busy scene. Gwen is green (and her love interest Frederick is a darker green plaid), Lorena is lavender, Maria is powder blue, Jamie is pink. The way they dress reflects their personalities as well, and when special events like balls happen their outfits for those events also help communicate the characters' personalities.
It's not necessary to focus entirely on fashion and clothes to create outfits for your characters that help tell your story better!
Also Cursed Princess Club is just extremely good all around.
A comic that is about fashion and using clothes to express yourself (but also about teen drama and gender/sexuality) that I enjoy is Acception. The main character is a fashion/sewing youtuber who befriends a goth girl in his class, but not everyone around him is as interested in fashion as he is. The goth girl's brother, for example, dresses much more casually and simply than she does, and the character designs for everyone slowly change over the course of the comic as people get different haircuts or teenage growth spurts, or decide to try something new with their style as they get older. I especially like how Iris's outfits frequently incorporate butterfly shapes as something she likes to wear.
It's cute and funny, and puts a lot of thought into its details despite having a simpler art style than many webtoons.
Clothes are an important part of character design, and too many people neglect to think as much about them as they should.

is that restaurant photo the only reason people started this rumour about Justin Kirk being Marisu? because it's kind of weird to me.. was there anything else? First of all in that restaurant photo that person does not look like Justin to me at all... and also why would he even be there? we are still on "Interview with the vampire" storyline in season 2 so 99% Marius would not be in the show or filming yet at all... and yes I know they can sprinkle in stuff from other books but i don't think they would bring in character like Marius and introduce him in "IWTV" season for one or two shots only... and he would be already so close with the cast he's going out with them?
All of this is such reaching lol and it makes no sense...

I think there was this post a while back, that kicked the rumor off. Somewhere there was more, wrt him mentioning that if the show gets it's seasons he would come back in season 4 and 5, I talked about it here, but seem to have not tagged it (sorry). There were various posters from Prague mentioning him (or his name):
And then there was this blurry photo I reblogged earlier, and to me that does look like him in makeup.

He definitely has the range and the props to do Marius justice, and I do think he would be a fantastic one - he does carry that arrogant patrician air if he wants to, totally apart from his acting skills, which are immense.
Now, wrt to your question as to why he would be there....
Marius has been mentioned already in season ONE. In book canon Armand being able to stand the sun but Louis cannot places us in a very specific time frame. Armand is on the phone to someone (not using his mind gift), one of Marius' paintings hangs in the apartment and the "prime minister", a title Marius has in the later books, has been mentioned. We know they are taking from Prince Lestat and Blood Communion at the very least.
Marius is, as his maker, a big part of Armand's backstory, and we know that some of the flashbacks in season two will be to the 1790s... so they have to be from Armand's POV.
Marius also had a big part in the backstory Lestat has already mentioned, with Those Who Must Be Kept. Depending on what that groan in Dubai basement is... he might be very close, actually.
The show does not follow the books, at least not too closely, apart from reaching the emotional story points and using the beautiful prose and the emotional... carnage. They are taking from other books already, Rolin Jones has held 6? 7? books up to the camera to indicate what they're using.
The show being called "Interview with the vampire" is imho a concession to the "Vampire Chronicles" being too close to "Vampire Diaries"... and of course honoring the format, but it does not mean they are restricting themselves to the content of the first book, in fact they have already said that they used things from The Vampire Lestat and The Vampire Armand for the second season, because the content needed to be expanded.
All that has been mentioned in interviews again and again, and so it is very far from reaching imho, to expect Marius to show up.
And, I mean... I go out with my clients at work, too? Especially if you know that you will work with them again that's something that's actually a good idea. I've done that very often myself.
(Also… Assad and Sam did that too? 😅)

Most alysmond writers (like you) are helaena haters, you hates the thought of helaemond and barely ever even mention helaena in your fanfics.

i do not hate helaena. i never have. i actually love her. i don't follow, support or know any alysmond writer that does. i also do not support people infantilising her character or trashing her to prop up alysmond. there is NO REASON to ever hate her or do that.
helaena is a dreamer. she's neurodivergent. her dragon's name is dreamfyre. she's alicent's only daughter. she's her mother's longing and tragedy staring back at her. she's her father's dreamer, his long-awaited prodigy, staring back at him, only to be ignored. she is a mother. she is a queen, but she's cassandra! i love helaena immensely! i love phia saban! she was fantastic in ltk and i know that when b&c comes around she WILL be showing us how it's done

i am not a fan of helaemond.
it seems to me that most people that love this ship don't even love helaena. i'm speaking on the way i've seen (not all, but some) people reframe her grief and trauma of the murder of her child, to instead, be all about her relationship with aemond. or they make her tragic suicide be about aemond. they want her children to be aemond's instead. they want her to be the one at god's eye to witness aemond's death. they want to change the sibling's dynamic to mimic aegon/naerys/aemon love triangle.
if you think about it beyond any fanfic trope, it does not serve any character or the dance. i fail to see how it improves aemond's arc, helaeana's or even aegon's.
and if you want to ship them, that's totally fine. i'm not trying to change your mind. and nobody needs to be out here trying to change mine. i am not wasting my time hating any specific person or writer whereas there is some helaemond telling me to off myself every other week in my inbox any time i mention alys rivers.
i haven't gotten a chance to write about helaena seeing as my fics start with aemond in harrenhal up to god's eye. i'm sorry! but you can literally say the same about every single other character that's not in my fic. it doesn't mean i hate them! i love love love a lot of them, helaena targaryen included

"Seawolf: The Pirate's Curse" (2005) review
Surprisingly, honestly... why did I enjoy this? I guess after a couple of major misses for me in the form of "The Kidnapping" and "Beyond Forgiveness", my expectations were appropriately low, but this one actually had some likable characters and humor, and that always manages to rope me in. I have a soft spot for fun, silly action fare like this bc of childhood shows like "The Greatest American Hero", I think.
So, the title never makes any sense... what was it supposed to mean? what curse?
First and foremost, I must say TIG is looking oh-so-very pretty and rugged here- the necklaces, the bandanas, the curly-q hair, the tank tops, the sweaty, the ARMMMSSSS 😩
Initially had absolutely no clue what was going on in the beginning; a bunch of people with weird ass outfits in the dark and I was just like please no don't let that be him in the damn fucking cape and eyepatch and o n e l e g; I was like he can't possibly have one leg the whole time, right?? 🤨
But yeah I was definitely experiencing the "dear God what did I get myself into, cheers to another awful mess" 🫡🥂
Why does half the audio sound dubbed (particularly everything that comes out of Rachel's mouth)? Also props to Rachel for being the most emotionally unaffected person ever bc her reactions were so disproportionately calm to what would happen if my bf was constantly disappearing overseas and totaled my gorgeous pink car
We're getting some very Max Parrish-type hooting and hollering up in here; a concise summary of Thorpe is that he's basically if Max had a boat and was an alcoholic instead of a drug addict
We get another hallmark of TIG's movies with a slew of incredibly cringe one-liners that elicit a physical reaction of pain from me, but for every few there was actually a genuinely funny one here and there, so I'll allow it this time...
The whole "I'm a pirate, my father was a pirate, etc." speech had me ROLLING and NOT IN THE WAY THE WRITERS INTENDED I THINK BC HUH??
When he met Helene in that random room full of paintings I was sure we were supposed to take it that the mission was smth art theft-related. but no she just has a passion for maximalist design ig.
Why does the camera get randomly shaky for no reason? Very avant-garde of them
Am I the only one who thinks that Carlos looks like a Walmart George Clooney? Someone else pls tell me I'm not insane
Always throws me off-guard but it's such fun to see TIG in an uncharacteristically light scene like the one where he's dancing in the parade and surrounded by the circle of dancers in the bar. At least he seemed like he was having a good time in this movie 🎉
Ramon and his lil book and the bar scene of Thorpe and Helene drunkenly arguing w each other and sitting on the side of the road was what really started to sell me

Plus I cannot go without mentioning my appreciation for the way he was holding her knee 👀💕

Love how Carlos and all the other villains are devoid of personality or motive except for ~money~, like "the Colonel" doesn't even have a name!!!
Was genuinely stressed that my boy was going to clock himself in the head when he was swinging that rope trying to scale that building
When Helene straight-up PUNCHED HER SISTER IN THE FACE like these ladies have some beef and I need to know where it stems from
This film is another great example of TIG's grossly underutilized comedic potential- a là the map reading scene
Hilarious how Carlos just shrugs like "I don't care, whatever I guess" when who he believes to be Marlena says she wants to say a dramatic goodbye to Thorpe
Ok but how did he not die?? Thank goodness but how??
Even more hilarious how the Colonel, who has had nothing but hatred and murderous intent for Thorpe throughout, is just so touched by Thorpe's being a ✨ big softie with morals ✨ that his vengeful compulsions are soothed and he's content with taking the gold like "hey bro, we're square now <3" and just fuckin walks away
Good on them for giving the treasure back to Mexico
Was legit concerned for too long there that they weren't actually going to end up together and I was screeching
DO THEY ACTUALLY USE THE SAME SHOT OF THE BOAT AT SUNSET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIE AND AT THE END?? lmaooo
Honestly, I think they could have leaned even more into the humorous aspect and the treasure hunt part of the film; made it a bit more of a National Treasure/Indiana Jones sort of thing, and I definitely would have liked some more character development, esp. for the sidekicks and villains, but overall, I award this film an unexpected 6/10. I had a good time 🙃🩷

Camelo>?i forgot how to spell his name the second i looked away from it THE MUTLICOLORED MENTALLY ILL GUYthag one. i have so many questions about him like why is he a freak (lovingly). why is his relationship with the big guy so inasne liek whats theier deal. im so interested (props my chin up in my hands and smiles suuuper wide) i would love to hear about them if u wanna talk about them PEACE ✌ (i mean all this genuiinely btw)

ANYWAYS. I'M REALLY GLAD YOU ASKED HI ok. LOTS of words soooo undah da cut they go. Also sorry if a lot of this does Not make sense trust me I don't make sense to myself sometimes
He is a freak because I really like characters like him. He's basically how my thought process works so that probably also means you're calling me a freak too(Lighthearted)
He is horrifically anxious and has got anger issues and is just real irritable in general (And probably more things.?). He has trouble dealing with his own emotions because they're often so extreme, so he does things on impulse despite overthinking a lot. He sorta contradicts himself in his thoughts and feelings and actions. Idk he's weird. Doesn't always know what he wants and has a tough time with communication. Him changing colors involuntarily depending on his mood doesn't help either if the person he's talking to knows which colors go with what feeling. He tries his hardest to hide his emotions when he wants to whether it be angry, nervous, sad, even happy, but he also knows he'll always have a dead giveaway if he feels anything ever.
(Note: Optional reading in this next part I ended up rambling↓)
I do worry about him getting so worked up because I don't want people to think that I think feeling emotions is dumb or whatever because I tend to like. Make him accidentally funny or play it off as a joke. And then I remember he feels like I do so I don't care if people get mad at me for having a character that gets upset or jumps to conclusions over little things or has a lot of inner monologue that's just freaking out because I do that a lot too. I like when I can relate to characters, I like to put things about me in my characters. People have told me that a lot of my characters have very real personalities (I LOVE WRITING PERSONALITIES) so I think I'm okay. It makes me feel extra happy when people tell me they can relate too. A lot of that didn't explain anything about him actually sorry lawl they call me the rambler
Okey anyways
About him and Diesel (da big guy)....
I don't even know where to start with them goodness gracious they're a mess. I guess when they first met. Chamy got a new job at the stupid dumb pizza place that Diesel had already been working at for a while despite almost Never showing up for (Their boss, Sharlotte, doesn't even give a darn and thinks of Diesel as a "son she never had" so he gets away with a lot). Diesel noticed Melo was new and because he is like a big cartoon bully of course he messes with Chamelo, mainly by stealing his beloved motor scooter thing.
Diesel made sure Chamy saw that he stole it, he wanted Chamelo to see him. If he wanted Melo to try to get back at him, it worked. When he finally caught Diesel with his scooter, Chamelo lunged at him like a rabid animal and they started fighting over it. Of course, Chamelo won through sheer rage and took back his scooter and Diesel hasn't taken it since then, but Melo has to let him drive it whenever they're delivering together (Because Sharlotte thought it was a genius decision to partner him up with Diesel because she thought Chamelo would die).
Chamelo holds a grudge against Diesel over that whole situation, but now he just finds himself instigating a fight with him for literally no reason (There is a reason it is because he is Gay and a Freak).
He then eventually realizes he is Madly In Love with that chimaera guy and has a meltdown about it and can't tell ANYONE or he will DIE!!!!!! And so he becomes incredibly awkward and even more annoying around Diesel
Asker (his friend he doesn't know is his friend) questions him about Diesel because they notice him being weird about him and they find out he likes him but they don't really care but one time they told Diesel that Melo is kind of a freak about him and then Chamelo punched them in the face (I drew it in [this post] except it's in inklish because I thought it was stupid it's sandwiched between a bunch of other drawings sorry. I still think it's funny though)
Umm yeah Chamelo is hopelessly in love and is quite scared about it because he's never felt actual romantic love before with another fish, only his scooter(bc. objectum...). He doesn't know how to deal with his feelings! It's like, a weird mix of hatred and yearning. So like. A hate-love. He wants to keep hating Diesel, he doesn't want to get attached to him but he already is..!! He feels like he's supposed to hate him, Chamy doesn't know what he even likes about Diesel. He wants to stop feeling like this but he doesn't want to at the same time, if that makes sense. He tries to tell himself it's a passing feeling or anything that isn't being in love.
He's scared of what could happen if they ever do end up together, that he might stop being in love and maybe it was just a passing feeling after all, and he's frustrated at the thought of Diesel never knowing about how he really feels. He doesn't know what to do about this, and most likely won't for a while. It's painful and overwhelming for him both physically and emotionally :'(
Diesel still I guess bullies Chamelo sometimes but that is just because he always does that and doesn't know anything about himself 🤣🤣😂😂AAAHHHH AAAAGHHH AHHHHHH AHHH AHHsorry. He is bisexual. He does not know that. He also shows up to work more because of Chamelo. But he also didn't realize that until they had a short one-sided conversation on Squidmas [see here].
Diesel is taking longer than Chamelo to realize he likes him, and honestly I cannot imagine a world where Diesel actually reciprocates feelings. I don't want to say he will but I don't want to say he won't. I don't know how to describe it. Something just happens I guess lol. I'll figure it out
Since then, they've been oh-so-painfully-slowly warming up to each other, still getting mad at one another, still yelling, still fighting, still absolutely Hating the other's existence...but hey...they're together more because they want to be.........AAAGHHHHHHH isn't fighting so intimate😍THEY HAVE TO STOPPPP sorry .Sorry. I'm really normal about their horrendously weird relationship that is taking Forever to get better. It's like slow-burn if you put it at 0.5x speed. Also I wouldn't call them enemies to lovers, they aren't exactly enemies nor are they lovers later That doesn't make sense but I wouldn't know how to explain it. Swagever.
At some point Sharlotte's car and a modded trizooka have to do with them (along with a couple older ocs of mine) but that doesn't really have anything to do with right now. A lot of my drawings of the two are out of order because I'm impatient lol. I want to try to not go through like. arcs? so quickly because 1. I fear the day I run out of ideas and 2. Everything has to end and I don't like the idea of finishing all of my splatoon's lives but luckily splatoon happens in real time so I have a lot of years to go if I'm That determined about my guys LOL Sorry unrelated
TL;DR Diesel and Chamelo's relationship is so complex and stupid it is almost entirely beyond my own comprehension. They hate each other so much that they want to be with each other.

the funny thing is I actually used to love Sansa and she was up there with dany and Arya as one of my faves but her fandom’s behaviour put me off of her. I’ve never seen a female character with such a nasty, toxic, misogynistic, horrible fandom as Sansa stans. they literally demonize and hate any woman who isn’t sansa or who they can’t use as a convenient prop for sansa. there entire online presence is devoted to hating and mischaracterizing arya and Daenerys and acting like these young girls are violent sociopathic villains. they act like arya is a violent brute and Daenerys is a power hungry hysterical woman who needs to be put down by a man. like as a mentally ill woman myself I find the way they talk about dany so triggering, do they not realize the violent misogynistic history of women being deemed “crazy”. like in this day and age i’ve had psychiatrists gaslight me and use my diagnosis of bpd against me, the way they talk about dany has real world implications and it’s disgusting. Sansa Stans act like sansa is superior to other women because of her “soft power” and delicate nature and it’s just so harmful to demonize any woman who doesn’t rigidly conform to patriarchal gender roles. not to mention they act like sansa has no flaws and erase her bullying of Arya and act like Arya is the one in the wrong. literally so many people have been put off of sansa because of her toxic stans behaviour, but they are incapable of self reflection and unable to see that it’s Sansa’s stans who are putting people off of sansa, but they just continue to insist that anyone who doesn’t worship sansa is a misogynist.
It's always sad when a fanbase is so toxic that it affects your love for a character. Sansa stans are literally every problem in fandom that they constantly cry about. They're easily one of the most misogynistic groups and their idea of being a "fan" of Sansa is putting down other female characters to prop her up. Being a fan of a female character to them means they can't be misogynistic. Meanwhile, they constantly uphold the extremely harmful idea of the "right" way for a female character to act and see no problem with throwing other female characters under the bus when they don't conform. The mischaracterizations of Dany and Arya are especially revolting. Rewriting the story to demonize them is fine but if you discuss canon Sansa then you're an anti. They parrot bigotry left and right all in the name of making a fictional character look better and it's ridiculous. The complete lack of self-awareness is hilarious; they think Sansa has so many antis, when in reality it's THEM that people don't like. The rest of us can tell the difference between canon and fanon.
It's just so frustrating and yeah, I can see how it could put people off of the character. You can't even discuss her canon (keyword) writing without getting screamed at and being accused of being an anti and/or a misogynist. I just can't imagine acting like this over a fictional character but then again they're deep in their delusions.

I’m going to be honest - it heartens me so much to see so many of you starting to stand up and say things about the ableism in certain popular Submas depictions in this fandom. There have been times I felt like I was alone or one of very few people saying things about it, and the more of you that are vocal about this, the less alienated I feel as an autistic person.
I’m what people on this website would consider “old,” even though in real life I’m still pretty young (33 isn’t ancient, you know). But when I was diagnosed as autistic in 2009 at age 20, it was still a verrrry difficult time. Autism Speaks dominated the autism narrative in the United States, and people like me were being dehumanized by their rhetoric constantly. But autistic people were starting to fight back, and I ultimately was able to become part of this self-advocate community and stand up for myself and other autistic people. In 2017, I took things one step further and founded the Autistic Gaming Initiative, an all-autistic streaming team raising money and awareness of autistic-led charities, like @autisticadvocacy and @awn-network - AWN’s Autistic People of Color Fund is especially a favorite cause of ours. Since then I’ve spoken at conferences and been published in an ALA publication about libraries and autism, which still doesn’t feel real to me!
Needless to say, I’ve become intensely aware of how the general public still perceives us over the years. Although we’ve made some incredible strides in the decade plus since I’ve been actively advocating for change, due to organizations like Autism Speaks and others dominating the narrative for so long we’re still perceived as a “tragedy,” something like cancer, and there are so many people that think we need to be “cured.” Which...there is no cure. We’d basically be eliminated. It’s eugenics. And the general public still believes so much of it - the anti-vaxxers, the Autism Parents (TM) who think there’s a “normal” child inside their autistic child, the people who think they can cure their autistic children with bleach enemas. These people still see me - and every autistic person reading this, and every autistic person on the planet - as “tragic.” They want us gone.
That’s why it was so difficult for me to go into the Submas tags. The angst hurt, but the ableism hurt more. These characters mean so much to me as autistic-coded characters who are so much more like me than any other fictional characters I’ve ever seen, and to go into the tags and see so many people playing with my identity like a toy or prop and more or less fetishizing mental illness to boot...it cut me so deeply. I spent a lot of time actually struggling with my mental health over this, because it was a reminder that the world still sees me and everyone like me like this. We’re still not allowed to simply be human to so many people.
A few examples:
The “one of the twins is a Zoroark” things, like the “N is a Zoroark” before them, play into the narrative that autistic people aren’t fully human. As I’ve mentioned before, there’s a valid theory that changeling myths were created as a way to explain the existence of neurodivergent children, particularly autistic children.
Certain ships, which I won’t name, blatantly fetishize mental illness for entertainment.
Emmet ALWAYS gets the worst of this, and he has since 2010, when he was also frequently either infantilized or made to be violent or “unhinged.” The fact that it’s the more blatantly autistic-coded of the two characters that gets this treatment again and again says something, and what it says isn’t good. It’s a reflection of how society views people like us as a whole, unfortunately.
So every time I see another one of you speak out against these ableist depictions, even just in the tags, it helps me feel a little better. People like you make it possible for people like me to exist. Thank you.

Canvas, Adhesive, Finger painting :)
One day, us Tumblrites gotta take a stand against "weird question names that require you to consult the question list 1000 times when answering because ???"
Anyway.
Canvas: Do you ever "prep" your fics with outlines or warmups before you start writing, or do you just dive right in?
Yeah, no. Very occasionally, I will make a notepad document I call "squishy red crap" (because it is the viscera and organs and lifeblood of a story all kind of blended up into mush) before writing a thing.
They, uh, look like this. After I clean it up.
I prefer to write the way I prefer to read, which is that I slowly put things together by what details I have, and editing is when I clean this up into a sharp, pointed blade to actually accomplish something.
Adhesive: When you write, do you usually "stick" to one character or story for a while, or bounce around various characters and ideas?
I do now, because I have less time for things, but I used to have at least two or three things running at a time so I could take breaks when my brain wanted to focus on a different type of project for a while. But now it's harder to make time for all of that at once, and I'd like to finish things, so I focus more.
Finger Painting: Share a small snippet from your earliest work (or the earliest that you can get back to). How would you rewrite it today? Either share the rewrite itself or just describe how you'd do it.
HRM. Okay, I'm going to do this in two parts: The oldest thing I can find on my computer, and the oldest thing I have hanging around on paper. But I'm not retyping the paper, so you'll have to see a pic for that.
This is the oldest thing I currently have handwritten. I was 12 when I wrote this, so have some mercy. I actually tried to throw this out at one point, but my former best friend saved it and got it back from her in college, at which point it was more funny to keep than anything.
The first most major changes I would make are start this with Misha in the bathroom mirror sort of explaining what all led her to get there.
Actually, no, the first would be getting rid of these names, which are far from the worst at the time, but ah, I had a "faux Japanese name" thing for a long time.
Mostly, this just has to be cleaned up. There's a very stilted, childish voice I can hear inexpertly telling this story.
Although props to little me for shoving "futile" in there properly at age 12. Just hanging out there, lmao.
This is the oldest thing I can copy-paste from my computer. I was 14 or 15 at the time, and only have this because I'd been emailing a friend updates as I wrote them. The 16.5k words I have weren't all that was written, but it's what I have salvaged.
“Hey, cutie. What are you doing around here?” Seitou whispered suggestively to me.
“Oh, screw you, Seitou,” I shot back. “You know I’m taken.”
“Aw, but sweetie, you’re just too cute. That girl doesn’t deserve you,” he answered, sweet as honey, but I could taste the venom under it.
“Unfortunately, I’m not interested in other males. So find someone else to prey on,” I snapped.
Seitou has had a fixation on me for as long as I can remember. Even though I’ve told him I am not interested in guys from the second he started hitting on me, he seems to be too thick headed to get it. I am completely straight, and I have a long-term girlfriend to prove it. Reisha is the most unbelievably beautiful girl I’ve ever seen, supermodels included. From her long black hair to her perfectly almond-shaped blue eyes. I’m not the only guy infatuated with her.
Seitou is a completely different story. Besides being apparently gay, he has never had a known relationship, even with another guy. I have to admit; even though I’m straight, - which means don’t take this the wrong way- he is pretty decent looking. He has shaggy brown hair that is just a little long. And his piercing green eyes unnerve me just a bit.
Myself, well, I consider myself average looking. The name’s Hakiro. I can’t figure how I nailed both a hot male and female. My own black hair never behaves the way it should, my brown eyes are a pretty bland color. Sure, I’m definitely my own person, never really fitting in anywhere, but will someone explain how that’s attractive? But even though I don’t fit in much, I have plenty of friends.
As I was mulling over these thoughts, I noticed Reisha walking up to me. “I have something to tell you.” She said, sounding slightly grim. Even though I was completely secure in our relationship, her tone concerned me. My instincts proved to be functioning correctly. “I think we should end this.” She announced.
Okay, aside the fact that good lord is there some grammar fuckery going on here, and the names, good lord the names, there's some interesting growth you can note over the two-three years between these. Obviously I, ahhhhhh, had read some BL by then. Because wow is this BL tropey from the time.
But it also just starts straight in the action this time. It's much more active, despite the fact that Hakiro still spends a bunch of time navel gazing. Hakiro is pretty voicey--it's not the best voice, but you can start to see my real knack for dialogue and mimicking speech patterns starting to pop already. The, ah, dialogue tags are not as good. But there's some good things happening on this front that will continue to develop as I continue to write.
I think I would (after changing all the names), importantly change this story to make Hakiro a clearly bisexual kid who doesn't know that yet instead of this gay-for-you thing, because Jesus Christ is he bisexual.
I would also...not start the story here? I don't think this is where the story of Seitou and Hakiro's romance even starts anyway. And almost nothing about this scene makes sense.
Also, the way this is written just has so much unnecessary exposition and description that could be handled much more expertly.
