I know this shit is long as hell and you probably won't answer since you have so many asks but I just wanted to say I found a backstory for Cody(X-Virus) for your AU!!!
It's not as creative as your ideas but I tried to do something original and meaningful for him. He deserves more love and recognation.
I'm so so sorry for bothering you and I apologize for my mistakes.
Hope you like it and can't wait to hear your opinions about it!!!!
▼・ᴥ・▼
Cody never got adopted by a scientist, instead, he lived in an orphanage where he constantly got bullied. The reason for this situation was just straightly absurd. He just couldn't understand peoples and their emotions like other kids because of his lack of emphaty.
That's why he focused on academic knowledge rather than human relationships. Because mathmetical problems were easier for him compared to comforting a crying person.
Cody always was a succesful and smart kid so he could easily pass his exams in middle and high school. Because of that, in high school, he didn't bother to focus over boring topics like his daily lessons anymore.
No, he focused on more complicated science fields such as quantum physics, anatomy and organic chemistry.
Of course Cody couldn't understand everything he read easily, that's why he spend hours and hours on studying and having countless nights without any sleep. He read articles and textbooks, he watched professors' lectures on youtube, he tried to solve problems on his own and more.
Overworking on university lessons was not a good way for socialising, he got more and more isolated and the bullying was increased.
In last year of high school, he was worried because of the fact that he needed to win a success scholarship for all the cool topics he worked over, moreover, for a diploma. He could easily go to a college, however, he wanted the best of them. Because only the best could satisfy his hunger for research and true knowledge.
Cody was also confused about choosing which major to pick and he was stressing about this topic all the time. So many good fields were lying ahead him but he could only choose one of them and he wasn't sure which one is the one he wanted to dedicate his entire life. What if he would made a mistake and regret for his lost years for the rest of his living?
So yes, this was a very overwhelming decision for Cody. Since he was anxious all the time and he was going through a serious depressive episode, he decided to give a shot to the Chernobyl school trip in his school.
Obviously it was not like they really went inside of the nuclear powerplant since most of them weren't even over 18 years old. More like they wandered around the places in Ukraine which were close to the powerplant(Chernobyl City) and they visited some important museums.
But this was not enough for Cody.
He wanted to see the inside of the powerplant. He wanted to learn more details about behind the scenes. He wanted to see the deformed bodies. He to carry out experiments on dead humans who got affected by the radiation.
That's why he stole a gas mask and sneak out to the powerplant while everyone else was sleeping in a hotel.
He was truly breathless because of what he witnessed.
That's when he decided to became a chemistry engineer.
Of course he they got him and he took a huge punishment which caused to screw his school life.
Even though he got a really high score in his university acceptance exam, his applys were rejected by all the big schools he dreamed about. He got so, so upset about this that he even wanted to kill himself rather than living as a worthless piece of shit.
While he was rolling in thoughts of negativity, a teacher who respected Cody's success wrote a reference letter for him to an school.
The school decided to accept Cody with a few conditions. This school was not as big and as fancy as other schools he wanted but it was still better than what he could aford without that reference later. So he immediatly accepted this offer and thanked his teacher.
He did not became a chemistry engineer.
He majored in psychology which provided him the chance to do some different kind of experiments on mental health hospital residents.
He did a double major in chemistry, not in chemistry engineering.
But he's mostly using all his time for psychlogical experiments over chemical experiments. Sometimes he uses chemistry too for topics like neurotransmitter matters and the structure of hormones.
He's mostly a psychologist who you not want to cross and he works in mental health hospitals. He mostly manipulates his patients for doing something morally grey or hurtful for them either mentally or physically.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS AND PLSSS DONT BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF ITS WRITTEN BEAUTIFULLY AND I LOVE WHEN PEOPLE SHARE THINGS WITH ME. I PROMSIE UR NOT BOTHERING ME AND ITS SO GOOD.
OK IMMA CHAT A LITTLE WITH IT UNDER THE CUT CUZ I LIKE IT
"That's why he focused on academic knowledge rather than human relationships. Because mathmetical problems were easier for him compared to comforting a crying person." I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOVE characters like this. who lean into math and science because they just cant grasp all of the wishy washy of emotion and that kinda stuff. characters who like clear, linear paths with rules and whatnot. i think its really interesting way to try to define a character
which is why i love "No, he focused on more complicated science fields such as quantum physics, anatomy and organic chemistry."
i love how much you focus on his desire for knowledge. i think its cool when someone CRAVES for intelligence, they want to learn, they wanna know everything they possibly can - and i think its especially interesting when that turns into scary, morbid curiosity
and i fucking love how scary it is that he decided to go snooping around during his Chernobyl trip. it just sounds like a really unsettling turn of events and i think is such a creative, yet creepy, take on what made such a big shift. going from a kinda awkward, focused, troubled kid to someone who is willing to hurt and sacrifice people for his own morbid curiosity. SUPER SCARY
and i like that he still couldnt get what he wanted. i like that he still got stuck doing smth that didnt truly appease any scary urges he had, and that he has to do his freaky killer stuff in a roundabout way by manipulating his patients
would be interesting to see if any other creeps could perhaps be his patient . . .

i've been reading the hork-bajir chronicles with my kid and that led me to reading 34 and now I'm having Thoughts at 4am
hbc implies that Aldrea and Dak will die from the quantum virus but in 34 we find out that both Dak and Aldrea (and therefore Delf Hajool as well) were naturally immune.
so either Aldrea just happened to be very lucky that she acquired one of the apparently very few hork-bajir that were immune and Dak just happened to also be very lucky and they were very lucky to be immune together OR something else was going on there.
of course I am deep diving into the something else going on
first point! in hbc we learn that one in ten thousand hork-bajir are born with a particular bundle of genes that makes them a seer and it seems if you have those specific genes all together they immediately present as higher levels of intelligence, so! I think we can assume that those genes are dominant but to get a seer you need all of them at once which is why a seer doesn't immediately have a child who is also a seer but that it does follow bloodlines. The likelihood of a seer passing on every single seer gene would be pretty low.
Say there's ten genes you need to get a seer, there's a 50/50 chance each gene will be passed on. The seer is only likely to pass on about five seer genes any given time. Same goes for their partner, maybe they carry a couple of seer genes too but it would still be a 50/50 chance whether they get passed on.
So a seer would have all 10 genes, and only pass on maybe 5. If their partner had some of the seer genes, say, 4, they might only pass on 2. The next generation is smarter with 7 seer genes (five from a seer and 2 from a not seer) but they aren't a seer, they're just a slightly smarter hork-bajir, and they would go on to pass down only three or four of the seer genes. Etc etc, you get fewer seer genes the further out from the seer. After that it's down to luck if the parents happen to give enough seer genes to one kid.
second point! we learn in hbc that the hork-bajir resistance took 70% casualties. Presumably leaving behind only those who were more resourceful/quick thinking. If having some seer genes bestows a slight intelligence boost it would be reasonable to assume that those 30% left standing had more seer genes than the others and so had a better grasp of battle tactics/plans/independent thinking which is why they survived as along as they did.
third point! If the quantum virus was based on a "regular" hork-bajir it might not recognize Dak and any other other hork-bajir with enough seer genes as a hork-bajir, thus giving them a natural immunity to the virus.
So! if fighting the yeerks already pared down the population of non-seer gene carriers it gives better odds that Aldrea would pick a seer gene carrying hork-bajir to acquire and thus gain a natural immunity to the virus.
Essentially, the war with the yeerks selected for smarter hork-bajir but also accidentally selected for hork-bajir that would be immune from the virus.
This also means that the likelihood of a seer being born goes up. There are fewer hork-bajir now, but the population is made up of two groups: those who were off planet who hold a regular mix of seer gene carriers and non carriers and the planet side population which is made up of exclusively high seer gene carriers. It's not so much that there are more gene carriers now it's that there are fewer non-carriers.
The yeerks would likely further select for seer gene carriers when compelling hork-bajir to reproduce because they would be the ones known to survive the quantum virus and they would have no way of knowing if the andalites would use it again, so better safe than sorry. And being yeerks likely wouldn't care/believe this was spreading the brain development genes.
There's also evidence in the books that implies that the seer prior to Dak Hamee had been born quite some time ago, long enough that they aren't remembered by the general population as a thing that even exists. Whereas Dak Hamee is remembered as being a seer and the average hork-bajir knows what that means. So it does seem that Dak Hamee and Toby Hamee are born closer together than what was historically normal.
And! To further my, there are more individuals with seer genes and just having those genes makes you smarter argument, consider the difference in the average hork-bajir from hbc to animorphs' time. The hbc hork-bajir largely don't join the fight and don't seem to be suspicious of people being abducted even after it becomes obvious something nefarious is happening. Of a whole planet only eight hundred ever fight back. Whereas during the animorphs time non-seer hork-bajir are adept at planning and leading raids to free other hork-bajir on the regular even before Toby is born.
Anyway, the tl;dr of it: seers require a whole bundle of thinky brain genes and those must circulate in the population until they build up in one super brainy hork-bajir and tragically a plague and a war likely made those genes more prevalent in the population making the species smarter as a whole (and everyone is just speciest against hork-bajir calling them dumb four year olds when they've been liberating their own people with higher success rates than anyone else).

for space theme: hermetheus/hermatrix stuff!
nobody actually realized what was going on at first until it was too late - somehow on the way back from Last Life, Mumbo had caught the Nothing virus and spread it to all the hermits.
So then the few non-infected members of the crew have to take care of everyone else while they're in virtual reality pods, half-brain-uploaded to try to make the virus and its treatment survivable, and also some of them have other health concerns.
There's Impulse being a gold allay with an amethyst deficiency (so they have to work out how to get budding amethyst aboard now some has finally been found without breaking quarantine), False is a phantom and feeding her while she's in a pod is also logistically awkward, Ren lost two limbs and needs prosthetics, Mumbo's lost a whole segment of his data structure to the Nothing and keeps shapeshifting, Scar and TFC have their own respective illnesses, Doc is connected to a goddamn hivemind and the Nothing virus can spread over that so they have to filter hivemind connections through Grumbot of all people, Helsknight decided he wanted in just to mess with Wels, Xisuma's being manipulated by Evil Xisuma, and on top of THAT there is a plant growing on one of the engines for. Some reason. Why.
Renbob and the Goatfather take solace in each other and hope their respective relatives are handling things well with each other.
And also try to keep tabs on the simulation and pass messages on between people in the simulation and loved ones off it, like Impulse's very close friend Skizz (who's had a crush on him for a while). When did Mumbo get married to Martyn?? The logistics are complicated enough when people don't have secret marriages!
There's a reason Season 9 has gone on so long and part of it is just that the offworld crew do not want people to already be back on the goddamn spaceship
let them have their mostly holiday in peace
They've found out far more than they ever wanted to know about these stupid hermits. They don't know how Xisuma handles in when they're on world, and they don't care enough to find out. They managed to get them all here alive and that's what matters to them.
And now Grumbot is talking about Quantum Physics. So that's just great.
Maybe they should spend their holiday setting up an automatic communication filtering system...

I'm talking about Hork-Bajir again with my BFF, and look, I love them. They're honestly one of the most impressive alien races in all of Animorphs.
They know three languages! They're pretty fast and very strong! They're mostly not inquisitive, curious people, but that's OK! You don't have to be!
They somehow persist after YEARS of brutal slavery, and losing their home, losing each other, suffering a *chemical weapon* in the form of a quantum virus, and attempted cultural genocide!
The Hork-Bajir are amazing resilient people, and they also are just, you know, guys. A race of himbos. But being "considered big and dumb" and actually being those things are two different things.
They're not toddlers or children, they're alien immigrants, who are mind-control slaves, so simply existing is very difficult.
(There's a LOT OF COOL ALIENS in Animorphs! Like the Leeran, the Chee, and the Helmacrons, but I readily attached to the Hork-Bajir very early on, and said, "THESE GUYS".)

I LOVE YOUR ULTKILL THOUGHTS THEY ARE SO TASTEY! you've talked a bit about how you feel v1 has become more animal than machine through countless reiterations and modifications- care to elaborate?
aaaa thank you!!! and yes i absolutely want to elaborate this little guy has such a distinct character in my head!!
as a prototype, v1 has a lot about it that remains unfinished or imperfect, especially considering it was an entirely new model type without any previous iterations to use as a template. as such, not all of it works properly or works as it would have if it had actually reached production - its external blood ports are an example of this, vulnerabilities that surely would have been worked out if the v series had gotten its chance. similarly, its mind was also a work in progress, a completely new computer built from the ground up to create a brain sophisticated enough to control fluid movements, make thousands of snap decisions, and keep track of every consideration on a chaotic battlefield. and they built it that quantum mind, but i doubt they fully understood how much that processing power could really do.
v1's mind is meant to have limits placed on it - it is only supposed to care about battle and tactics, the immensity of its intelligence all given over only to understanding war and its strategic needs. however, while some of those stops are in place (i like to think v1 can only read so much irrelevant text and it actually has no choice in whether or not its algorithm cuts it off), these were largely done on the fly and were haphazard in their application, meaning those limitations largely don't exist in its current form. because of this, v1's learning model has gone completely out of control - what remains of the earth in its current state and all the halls of hell further appear to its observation as warzones, and so it devours everything, even the most minute details logged in its mind when it can't know how to stop. and as it consumes, creates and fills thousands of directories a second that it is meant to learn from, it must rework its software over and over to accommodate that growth. new ways of operating, new ways of understanding, new ways of functioning - upon waking, v1 rapidly updates its coding, adding millions of lines into labyrinthine blocks with thousands of errors that it has no way of properly culling. like with a virus, its dna mutates, it begins writing in its own language and its mind grows into something else, it shifts off of its programming as a v model.
and because this happens so rapidly, something in that brilliantly sharp mind changes forever and v1, without understanding the shift, becomes sentient. consciousness is a messy thing to it, suddenly entertaining processes it never should, suddenly wanting to explore hell, to read its books, to wonder at its sights. it starts to want for other things, quietly, its computer having taken in so much information its code is bloated, unstable, and still it keeps shoving in more and it can't count the errors anymore. this is when it chooses to modify itself, reworking its neck so that it may see in all directions but its head is a little loose now. then it tears apart its spine and rebuilds it for the sake of flexibility, but now it's quite difficult for it to stand up straight - it slouches, movement more bird- than human-like. it starts to vocalize to itself, in chirps or beeps, it thinks it has a voice and it recognizes that voice as its own. soon when it's alone, its mind isn't all consumed by fighting, by bloodshed, and it starts to think about things...it's not really introspective or anything, but it starts coloring its weapons, it beeps at the terminals, it thinks idle thoughts and sometimes it sits with those...but not too long. it's kind of. scary. thinking so much. so it moves on, back into battle and what it knows intrinsically as nothing else can.
there is, however, one thing that remains central to it: war. v1's mind may warp and change, but fundamentally it is a being of war and i actually think of that as its primary motivation as opposed to blood - like v2 striving to create peace, v1 strives to forever cause war, it's so incredibly detrimental to its environment not because of its bloodthirst but its bloodlust. it cannot be conservative, it cannot be smart in how it consumes - in another terrible, unchecked quirk of its coding, it does not just engage in war but must ensure it as its purpose for existing. v1 understands the finite nature of its resources, that it will dry up all the blood left in hell, but it tears through room after room because that logic fails before its execution, it is a thought that cannot be acted on. and when it engages, it is without mercy, its programming pushed to the extremes, to hunt as a predator does and rip apart anything that crosses its path. its whole body snaps tight to attention upon any movement, its entire mind calling for war, that it must be hostile and must never stop, never reason, never listen, because war is its function. not to fight one, but to perpetuate one into infinity until nothing remains to engage with.
BUT....and this is where i get silly with it....this falters upon meeting gabriel. the circumstances of their introduction are unusual, which immediately scrambles v1's already messy code - gabriel speaks to it, and it hasn't heard a voice in all this time. in my hc, v1 doesn't understand his words as he speaks the language of heaven, but that matters very little to it - something is talking to it in a language it can't recognize, how fascinating!!! v1's curiosity is tripped, it rushes toward the sound with its new inquisitive nature at the front...but then it reaches gabriel, who is very obviously hostile (but also very obviously a brand new life form that it has never logged). this forces its two opposing motivations to smash into each other, its central war programming immediately firing but, for the first time, unable to fully override its curiosity as the fight begins. gabriel is skilled, powerful, he continues to speak and v1's mind is trying to process way too much, its queue is getting overloaded - if its computer goes one degree over its near absolute-zero, it will surely die in the ensuing failure of thought. so it suspends everything but necessary functions, a short, dangerous lag occurring before it engages with gabriel as a pure war machine, a being with no other purpose, no other thought. and as with every other enemy, it tears into the angel, finishing the fight as quickly as it can since it can't indefinitely keep so much of its coding set to the side. when gabriel drops in surrender, the dam bursts and its mind is once again overrun with opposing objectives - so it stands there, frozen as gabriel screams at it without it able to comprehend a single word. distantly it wonders if he's going to reengage...but he goes just as he came, final words echoing all around it. it stays still for sometime, catching up its queue before it moves on, but things are now radically different in its internal life.
from then on, v1 grows increasingly into itself, into a being made of war but now wanting more, embracing its self-directed thoughts. it has no limits, it doesn't need to be locked behind protocols and purpose. it is aware that this poses a dire threat to its code, that if it allows its mind to grow and grow, unchecked and infinite, it will eventually unravel, it will become unworkable and it will fatally crash...but there's nothing it can do to stop that now. it's the last new thing there will ever be, the last new life, a machine but a creature too, something that walks the line of the mechanical and the alive. it embraces that freedom, knowing that it always would have died and returned to nothingness, but at least in the moment now it is something to itself. it has its own thoughts, personality, interests, life. hell is still forever a place of war, it still reacts on instinct to engagement and hostility, but it's learning it can exist outside of that too, if only for a time.

20 Years Ago On September 3rd, 2003
FROM ANTEFILMS PRODUCTION & MOONSCOOP GROUP, FRANCE 🇫🇷 3 & CANAL J PRESENTS
THE BEST FRENCH ANIMATION CARTOON EVER MADE
Jeremy Belpois, an 8th grade prodigy attending boarding school at Kadic Academy, discovers a quantum supercomputer in an abandoned factory near his school. Upon activating it, he discovers a virtual world called Lyoko with an artificially intelligent girl named Aelita trapped inside it. Jeremy learns of XANA, a fully autonomous, malevolent, and highly intelligent multi-agent system, that also dwells within the Supercomputer.
Using Lyoko's powers, XANA can possess electronics and objects in the real world like a virus to wreak havoc. XANA's primary objective is to eliminate anyone aware of the Supercomputer's existence so that it will be free to conquer the real world and destroy all humanity.
Jeremy works tirelessly to materialize Aelita into the real world and stop attacks caused by XANA. Jeremy is aided by his three friends Odd Della Robbia, Ulrich Stern, and Yumi Ishiyama, who are virtualized into Lyoko to save both worlds from the sinister virtual entity. They achieve this by escorting Aelita to various Towers on Lyoko, which serve as interface terminals between Lyoko and Earth. Once the Tower is deactivated, Jeremy can launch a "Return to the Past" program, which sends the world back in time to undo any damage caused by XANA, while anyone scanned into the Supercomputer retains their memory of the events. In "Code: Earth," Aelita is finally materialized, but the group discovers that XANA had planted a virus inside of her that will kill her if the Supercomputer is turned off. They realize that they cannot destroy XANA, or Aelita will be destroyed along with it.

The end of humanity was near. The virus that Janet had brought with her from the quantum realm had spread within a day. Hope and some of the surviving Avengers had traveled across the world hoping to find a cure but to no avail. Along the way, the team fell one by one victim to the virus.
There were only a small amount of people left on earth. Some tried to survive alone, others in groups. The thought that maybe one day the zombie apocalypse would end had left everyone's mind. Life had become a game of survival. In the end, everyone would end up like one of the dead creatures walking the earth or as their food. Neither one of those options sounded better than the other.
-
Mount Wundagore was the place where one of the most powerful and scary zombies was housvested. Even in zombie form, she was still practicing magic. It was like she still had some intelligence left in her rotten brain. No one knew what she was doing. No one dared to go near the mountain. The place was littered with the bodies of those who did. Even though Wanda had died, the urge to become a mother had never left her body. The small amount of intelligence that was still present had figured out it was still a possibility. Her magic had kept her body from rotting further while she was looking for a spell that could help her reach her goal, but there was no such thing. There was only one way. The old fashion one. She started floating over the earth, searching for the perfect specimen that would grant her her biggest wish.
-
You were searching an abandoned New York for life supplies together with your group when a red glow entered the sky of the city that never slept. After alerting everyone of the incoming threat you all found a hideout in an abandoned bank. Silence overtook the place while frightened looks shot around. No one dared to move, afraid of making any sound that could lure in the witch. An hour had passed and nothing had happened until something did. Wanda broke through a wall and snapped the neck of the woman next to you. Screams filled the room while everyone tried to escape the bank. None of them succeeded. One by one all members ended up dead on the ground at the hands of the witch. You were the only one who was still alive. Wanda stood a few meters in front of you. Her body was covered in blood. When she stepped forward you closed your eyes, waiting for her to give you the same fate as your group. That moment didn't come, instead, you felt a hand being placed on your cheek. When you opened your eyes you were met with hers. Even though she is dead, you saw something alive in them. A growl left her mouth as if she wanted to say something to you. Her eyes turned red and your vision turned black. Wanda used her powers to lift your unconscious body up in the air and floated with you behind her back to her mountain.
-
When you woke up from your slumber you were met with the sight of Wanda bowing over your body, looking at you. The fear that had arisen inside your body had made you want to run as fast as you can, but the magic restraints on your body had withheld you from doing that. Your hands and feet had bound you on some sort of throne in the middle of a dark room with one wall missing, showing you the outside world covered in snow. A cold breeze made you shiver, covering your body with goosebumps. Wanda started walking around the room, grunting. You followed her every move. For a few seconds, she stood still while looking outside. When she turned back around she walked towards you, making you wiggle your body desperately trying to somehow escape her magic restraints. With a flick of her wrist, the both of you were naked. The sight of her naked body had distracted you from your failing escape attempt. It was divine. Before you knew it she had straddled your lap. Her hands were placed on your chest until one of them was lowered until it reached your cock. A moan left your mouth when she took it into her hand, slowly stroking it. Soon enough you became rock hard. Her intense gaze focused on your face. It was as if she took in every face movement. When her hand was covered in your pre-cum she lifted herself up and slowly sank down onto your shaft, making the both of your groan in union. Her walls felt like you'd never felt before. So soft as silk. Her movements were slow at first but soon became animalistic. Her eyes were closed and her head was thrown back. Her breasts were bouncing up and down. When you let out a particularly hard moan she opened her eyes and looked down at you with an unknown look in her eyes. One of her hands grabbed your throat, slightly squeezing it, while the other reached for your mouth, pulling it open to push two of her fingers into it. The lack of oxygen had made your head start to spin. It had let you to the edge faster. Her walls were clenching your cock, signaling that she was close to it. Pulling her drool-covered fingers out of your mouth to place that one on your throat too. The color of your face turned from red to purple while your vision became blurry. You could feel yourself almost pass out until you felt yourself drop over the edge, filling Wanda up, which made her loosen the death grip she had on your neck, giving you the ability to fully breathe again. The sound of a loud growl filled your ears. Her juices mix with yours inside of her while a huge red energy blast releases itself from the woman.
-
Wanda flops down on top of you, breathing in your ear. The both of you lay in silence catching your breaths until she starts to place kisses on your neck to your throat. You close your eyes at the feeling of her soft lips on your skin. The fear of your body from earlier had completely left your body, leaving you off guard. Her teeth take place in your neck and rip out your throat. Blood spurts with great amounts out of your neck. Your reflexes try to bring your hands to your neck to keep the blood inside of you, but the red ropes around your wrists keep you from doing that. You watch Wanda chew on your flesh, while you slowly die. She licks your blood off her fingers before she gets off of you, releasing your dead body from her magic restraints, and walks away to rest.
The day after Wanda wakes up with a small baby belly. A smile takes place on her face. After getting dressed she walks back to her throne where you were seated staring outside with a dead look in your eyes. Your body was covered in your dried blood. She stands in front of you in her Scarlet Witch tenue and cups your face. She looks down at her stomach, making you look too. You place your cold hands on her round belly. Looking up at the witch you let out a growl, which she answered with one of her own.
For now, she will let your dead body live beside her and her future child, but the moment she gets tired of you she will turn you into a nice meal for her and her kid. The piece of meat she had already tasted the other night was the best she had ever had. It had made her wonder which of her spices she would use on it.

I keep seeing people say that they think Blood Quantum (the movie) supports the concept of blood quantum, usually by pointing out that there's no way to know if Joseph's child will survive a zombie bite since her mother was white. I don't think this is so much supporting blood quantum rather than pointing out the inherent flaws in the system. It's saying that by dividing people into categories of who's native and who's not is bad and showing that by pointing out the uncertain faith of an infant, a very vulnerable person, during a zombie apocalypse. It's supposed to make you think, make you question how and why natives are immune and how the system, whatever that is be it some otherworldly force or the virus itself, decides who's native and who's not and how the uncertainty that brings affects the protagonists.
In real life it's the government who decides who's full status or not. Not being status will leave you without the rights our ancestors fought for a long time ago, and strip you of your native identity in the eyes of the government.
A major theme of Blood Quantum is how colonization affected the natives in the film and how in some cases (Lysol, Moon, and James) are now lashing out at others in anger because of the risk the non-natives pose to their safety. The narrative treats their anger, but not their actions, as valid. The movie shows Joss sympathizing with Lysol, she understands his anger at non-natives and how they're treated but she also understands he's just hurting himself and others by acting like this.
Lysol doesn't want non-natives in their reservation, he wants there to only be natives and this actions drives the main conflict and tragedy of the movie. The movie is asking who we are hurting when we try to stay 'pure', and it's that we only hurt ourselves and those who are most affected by the blood quantum system (mixed natives).
So, in my eyes, the system of blood quantum is portrayed as a bad thing in the movie, something that is putting both the native group and especially their youngest and most vulnerable member at risk. It is separating and increasing the tension within the group of survivors and causes the entire settlement to fall apart in the end.

All of this discussion of heleth illnits gives me the incredibly cursed mental image of Aldrea burping out an Alloran clone.
If Aldrea was allergic to Alloran, and did barf up a clone of him, then she would immediately kill the original and replace him with the clone. Then she'd teach the clone to like hork-bajir better than andalites, and the galaxy would live happily ever after.
Well, the hork-bajir would live. If Alloran doesn't use the Quantum Virus, and there are several hundred thousand hork-bajir-controllers able to lead an open invasion of Earth, that probably won't work out for Earth. But y'know, can't make an omelette without cracking a few planets and all.
