Dating Rachel King as a girl would be...
Tumblr media
Requested: @sixminutesofnight
Notes: I hope this is okay!! literally as I finished writing this, I checked your request and I guess i literally just imagined you asking for a fem!reader - so im sorry!! if you want other pronouns I can fix it!!
Ok so you and Rachel had known each other for years
and I mean y e a r s
You were both born around the same time - and since you grew up in such a small town - your mothers met on the maternity ward
So you had been friends more-or-less since birth
Growing up you had been best friends and did absolutely everything together - it was known by everyone town that wherever one of you was, the other wouldn't be far behind
By the time you got to high school, you had both been through various boyfriends - but above all else, you had each other
Lots of dumb adventures when you were teens,,,, going to supermarkets past midnight,,, concerts in far off towns,, even swimming in the freezing sea in september
by the age of seventeen,, most people had decided you were probably a little more than "best friends"
and maybe they were right - maybe your first kiss (and the only kiss that would ever matter to you) was at 4.32 AM in the empty waiting room of an Accident and Emergency Unit after you had fallen and broken your ankle
or maybe they weren't and you were just really good friends
who knew????
When Rachel had joined up with the marines - you were pretty heartbroken (as was she)
lots of tearful giggling and tight hugs on the day she left
Promise you'll come back?
Well, duh, you can't get rid of me that easily.
Pinky promise me?
Of course.
And she did come back - as often as she could - and you'd spend those few precious days talking non-stop
When she met Eric you were happy for her (really!)
She just smiled so widely when she watched him speak; listening to him rambling on about some piece of tech that you didn't understand
At first he was a little weirded-out by Rachel and you's relationship
but it's normal for girls to be super touchy and hold hands all the time, right? (right??)
You got along well with him nonetheless and you always had the pair over for dinner whenever they were back from service
But then things started to go wrong
It started with a bit of tension between the two; then suddenly Rachel was staying at your place
It took her a while for her to open up about what happened in the accident
(You felt really bad about egging Eric's car after that)
(he still does not know who did it to this day)
A lot of late nights sat opposite one another on the kitchen floor talking about everything
A lot of you talking her down when she starts to spiral
Sometimes terrible things happen, I guess.
But I should've been more careful-
Oh fuck that! It was an accident. Accidents happen.
But Eric-
Eric told you it's okay.
But I-
Rachel. We're all still here, aren't we? You could have both died. But you're here - and one day this won't hurt so much. I promise you.
The point when you actually started dating is blurry to say the least
like there was definitely an awkward period where everyone around you was like,,,, o k a y I don't think best friends are that close
jokes on them you guys were best friends AND dating
After like six months of her living with you, kissing each other goodbye, holding hands constantly and her wrapping her arms around your waist while you were trying to cook - you finally had a conversation about it
As she left for service
It was at the airport, as you hugged her tightly
Hey, Rach
Hm?
Are we dating?
Sure, why not.
Okay, just checking.
...
I love you.
I love you too.

Chemistry
JASON KOLCHEK x FEMALE CHEMIST!READER
Summary: A specialist in biohazardous materials and chemical weapons is called to Camp Slayer to assist in the excavation into a buried Sumerian temple.
TW: Mild angst, injured reader, hurt/comfort themes, guns, blood.
Tumblr media
Jason stood outside the entrance to the building as he waited for the doctor to arrive at Camp Slayer. A helicopter appeared overhead before slowly lowering down onto the dusty ground below.
Jason watched as a young woman pushed open the door and hopped out, leaning back into the helicopter to grab two large cases of supplies. She dragged them to the edge of the doorway with a grimace at the heavy weight.
Jason quickly made his way over, "Need a hand, Doctor?" He asked loudly over the thrum of helicopter blades as they spun.
"Yes, please," She said, stepping out of the way.
Jason lifted the cases easily, "Follow me," He said, tilting his head towards the building.
The doctor followed Jason across the dusty ground and over to the building, "I'm First Lieutenant Jason Kolchek, Ma'am," He said.
"Doctor Y/N L/N. It's a pleasure to meet you, Lieutenant," She said, pulling the door open for him, "Likewise, Ma'am. We have a workspace prepared for you inside," Jason replied, stepping through the doorway.
Jason led her through the winding hallways of the base before turning and pressing his back against one of the doors to open it, "This room is all yours, Doc," Jason said, watching her move past him and into the large office.
"Wow, this is better than my office at home," She said, looking around at the paintings and sculptures scattered around the large office.
Jason stepped away from the door, "Where would you like these, Ma'am?" He asked.
"Oh, gosh. Sorry, um- Right on the desk would be great," Y/N said, he lifted the cases up onto the tabletop before stepping back.
"What exactly does a chemist bring into the middle of the desert? If you don't mind my asking, that is," Jason questioned.
She took a breath, thumbs popping two of the latches before lifting the lid, "A lot of stuff, actually. I've been told that the Colonel is more prepared for exposure to combat weapons than chemical ones on this mission," She said, sifting through the contents of her case.
Y/N finally found what she was looking for, pulling out a gas mask, "This is going to become your new best friend down there, Lieutenant," She said, holding the mask out to Jason.
He took the mask from her hand, "What exactly do you think is down there, Doc?" Jason asked, "We're going to assume anything and everything," She stated.
Jason watched her as she pulled out multiple boxes of medication and small med cups, "What's that?" He questioned.
"It's called Ciprofloxacin," Y/N said, opening one of the boxes and popping two of the pills out of the foil and into the two medication cups, "It's meant for-" "Anthrax," Jason stated, she nodded.
"Preparing for anything and everything," She said, picking up the two cups and holding one out to Jason.
He took it from her hand, "Cheers," He nodded, bringing the med cup up to his mouth as they both took the pills.
....
The team made it to the sight of the bunker and the soldiers went ahead to clear the compound before bringing in the Colonel, the Doctor and Rachel. Iraqi forces arrived and a firefight ensued, Jason managed to get the Doctor to safety before returning to the shootout.
The ground suddenly began to rumble, knocking Jason off balance as cracks spread quickly across the dirt. Sinkholes opened all across the compound, dragging American and Iraqi soldiers down into the caverns below.
The Doctor had disappeared somewhere in the rubble and everyone was scattered and divided. Jason couldn't help but blame himself, she was defenseless and he had lost her in his effort to protect her during the firefight.
Jason had formed a relationship of necessity with Salim in the tunnels as they fought against the vampire creatures that had been trapped below.
Jason made his way down the tunnel with Salim by his side, their weapons were raised with flashlights pointing forward as they moved quietly down the path. Jason halted in his step when he heard a noise from inside the wall of the tunnel, he and Salim quickly moved to press their backs against the wall.
Jason leaned out, hearing more rustling from the hole in the wall, "There's somethin' in there," He said quietly to Salim.
"Should we try and sneak past it?" Salim asked.
Jason shook his head, "No, let's blitz the fucker," He stated.
"This is a bad idea," Salim muttered, leaning back against the wall with a shake of his head.
"The minute we move that son of a bitch is gonna be on us," Jason reasoned quietly.
"Fine," Salim huffed, "On three?" Jason asked, Salim nodded, adjusting his grip on his gun.
"One... Two... Three," Jason counted. The pair quickly moved towards the hole and shone their lights in, weapons poised to strike.
Y/N sobbed, curling up tighter with her head pressed into the crook of her arm as she held her blood-stained hand up.
"Oh, fuck," Jason muttered, lowering his gun, "Y/N? Is that you in there, sweetheart? It's Lieutenant Kolchek," He said softly.
Her head slowly lifted, she blinked at the brightness of their lights. Y/N was sitting on the ground in a spot just large enough to fit her body with her knees pulled tightly to her chest.
Tear tracks cut through the dirt and blood on her cheeks, "Put that thing down would ya?" Jason ordered, reaching out and pushing Salim's arm down to angle the beam of his flashlight onto the ground.
"Jason?" Y/N asked quietly, Jason squatted down to see her better.
"Yeah, it's me, darlin'. Think you can come out of there for me?" He asked.
She slowly released her legs, shifting onto her knees and crawling through the short but narrow tunnel towards the entrance to the hallway, "There you go, just a little farther, sweetheart," Jason coached, reaching in for her to take his hand.
He smiled when she finally placed her hand in his, brushing his thumb across her knuckles reassuringly. Jason helped her climb out of the wall, standing up and pulling her to her feet with him.
She immediately pressed herself against his chest, wrapping her arms around him as more tears rolled down her cheeks. Jason wrapped his arm around her, his other hand resting on the back of her head.
He buried his fingers in her hair, holding her tightly, "You're okay, I've got ya," He assured softly, hand rubbing over her back as she trembled.
"She's bleeding," Salim stated, shining his flashlight at her side.
The material of her shirt that was visible below her bulletproof vest was soaked with her blood, "Let me get a look at you, sweetheart," Jason pulled away, looking down at her.
The side of her vest was shredded, deep claw marks slicing through the fabric and into her flesh, "They got you good, huh?" He asked, she shook her head stiffly and wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
"I'm okay," She said.
"Knew you were a tough cookie," Jason smiled.
Jason's eyes flickered up to her hairline, noticing the blood on her skin. Jason reached out, taking her chin between his thumb and forefinger as he tilted her head up, "You hit your head?" He asked, the feeling of ice cold guilt settling in his stomach like a stone.
"When I fell," Y/N said.
"You're feelin' okay though?" He asked, eyes flickering over her body.
"Yeah," She said with a sniff, pressing herself closer to his side.
Salim leaned into the split in the wall, shining his flashlight inside, "My god," He muttered.
"What?" Jason asked, "You need to see this," Salim stepped out of the way, the beam of his flashlight still shining into the wall.
Jason stepped over, "What am I lookin' at?" He questioned, squinting into the divided rock.
"The walls," Salim said.
Jason felt the blood drain from his face when he finally noticed the claw marks carved deep into the rock on either side of the narrow passageway, "Holy shit," Jason muttered, he turned towards Y/N.
Her arms were wrapped loosely around herself as she watched them silently, "Did one of those fuckers try to get you in there? Is that-" He let out a huff, trying to calm himself down.
"Is that how they hurt you?" Jason asked.
"I didn't move back far enough," She mumbled.
"Fuck. I am so fuckin' sorry, sweetheart," Jason said, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her body against his chest in a tight embrace.
She shook her head, wrapping her arms around his neck, "It's not your fault, Jason," She assured, voice muffled against his shoulder.
"I swear to God that I will get you out of here, alright? I'm not lettin' you die down here, baby," Jason declared.

Iraq, 2003.
Camp slayer 0800 hours.
Your tan combat boots hit the floor in a rhythm as you made your way to Rachel’s office. You had just received word that Colonel Eric King was assigned to lead the team. Rachel’s team. You’d known about their previous relationship and you knew it was extremely complicated. As Rachel’s best friend, you’d gotten caught in the crossfire several times. What I fucking headache. She’s going to loose her shit ice she hears about this. You took a deep breath before knocking firmly on her office door, clutching the paperwork in your left hand. You were standing with your hands behind your back. Your long (y/h/c) locks were pulled into a tight bun, you had on a dark green tshirt, which was tucked into your uniform pants, which were tucked into your combat boots. the typical uncomfortable marine uniform crap.
You heard a bit of shuffling around and giggling before rachel answered the door, stepping aside so nick could leave the room. her hair was messy, and nicks hat was clearly crooked. What the hell? Your jaw nearly hit the floor when you saw a fresh hickey on his neck. Nick nodded at you and kept on down the hall, and Rachel sighed at the look on your face. “It’s not what it looks like, y/l/n.” She almost whispered as you stepped inside, You waited until she closed the door to have a mini freak out. “Not what it looks like?! Rach! Are you serious right now? He’s your subordinate!” You we’re whisper yelling. Praying nobody like merwin or Joey were walking by, they’d definitely make a big stink out of this.
She sighed and leaned on her desk, biting her thumb nail. “I know..” she mumbled, looking at the floor. “I just, I don’t know.. With all the bullshit with Eric I think I just wanted to feel something else, you know?” You looked at her with raised eyebrows, your hands on your hips. “No Rachel, I don’t ‘know’.” You said, using your fingers as quotation marks. “Please, enlighten me. Tell me. How do you think Eric is going to react when he gets here?!”
Your breath caught in your throat as Rachel’s head snapped to your direction. “Excuse me?” She stood, raising her voice a little. You ran a hand down your face in stress. “He’s going to be here within the hour. Christ, rach.” You groaned, pacing around the room. She was already fixing her hair in a hurry. “Straighten up, don’t say a fucking word about any of this, I mean it. We’ve got enough bullshit floating around this camp. The last thing anybody needs is your and nicks affair getting out and about.” You pointed a finger at her, before turning and leaving the room. Slamming the door shut. She may have been your superior, but she knew you were right. You had every reason to be mad. Nicks your best friend, you don’t want his heart getting broken, nor do you want either of them to be reprimanded if word got out.
You walked very hurriedly to your shared bunk room with nick and Jason. The tips of your ears were red with anger. You threw the door open, quickly slamming it shut behind you the second you were through. The first person you saw was nick. Perfect. “Hey scout” nick flashed a soft smile, he was lacing up his boots, sitting on the edge of his bunk bed. “Just the guy I wanted to see” you said through gritted teeth. Smacking him on the back of his head. “Ow! What the hell y/n!” He shouted. Rubbing his head “what the hell were you thinking? Nick, her husband is going to be our new CO. If he finds out, your ass is grass.” You sighed. “And I’ve heard he’s a real dickbag. So, lucky you.” By now You we’re pacing again. Chewing on your bottom lip, not looking at nick. “I’m sorry, y/n. You gotta understand, after the checkpoint-“ he shook his head. Looking at the floor.
You looked over at him, softening your eyes and moving to sit next to him. You, nick and Jason had just been involved in a shooting a few weeks back. You squeezed your eyes shut, trying not to think about the blood. “I get it.. I’m sorry.” You mumbled. Rubbing his back. Before you could say anything else, the door had swung open. It was Jason, he looked almost.. scared? “Guys, pull your shit together and get out here. Our new CO just landed” he panted, before running off down the hall. You giggled a little at how discombobulated he seemed. Jason always had his shit together, but apparently not today. You and nick shared a soft smile before standing up, heading out the door and towards the briefing room.
Tumblr media
Briefing room, 0830 hours.
You were leaning against a desk, listening to colonel king give his presentation. Nick and Jason were on either side of you, listening close. Your eyes were trained on the floor tiles, arms crossed, not really paying attention too much. You were nervous about this mission, maybe even more nervous that Jason’s arm kept brushing against yours. ‘Stop it, he’s your boss, idiot’ you thought to yourself. Jason’s always been your best friend alongside Nick, but lately you’ve been getting mixed signals from him. One day he’d treat you like one of the guys, punching your arm and talking about guy stuff. Then the next day you’d catch him stealing glances at you from across the room, defending you from merwin and his gross jokes, and making sure you were taking care of yourself.
You mentally kicked yourself for thinking about him in such a way. He’s your friend, y/n. He doesn’t see you like that. He’s just a nice guy. You repeated that to yourself until you heard Jason speak up. “Boys are just eager to catch a break, sir. No harm meant.” ‘Did I miss something?’ You thought. Looking up at him and nudging his arm a little. A confused look on your face. Jason tilted his head down, leaning his head to the side and whispering “fill you in later.”. You nodded. Still listening, but keeping to yourself.
After Eric was finished with his presentation, you made your way over to Joey. He was talking to Eric with a concerned look on his face. As you approached, you cued in on their conversation. “Bet the farm on this. I have a good feeling we're gonna clear up." Said Eric. “I wish I shared your optimism, Colonel." Joey spoke, the colonel turned his heels and made his way over to Rachel, as you leaned on the table next to joey. “Hey, you okay?” You looked at him with a soft expression. Joey was always like a big brother to you, ever since you joined the team he and you would always get into trouble together. He sighed. “I’m okay, just a little worried is all” Joey shrugged
“Hey, don’t be. Nothings gonna happen to any of us, not if I can help it.” You smiled a little, tilting your head. “What if you can’t help it, scout? What if I can’t help you or, or merwin or-“ “hey” you interrupted “will you stop that. We’re gonna be okay. Promise” you stuck out your pinky, which made him smile a little, before wrapping his pinky around yours. “See? Everything is going to be A-O-K” you stood up straight. Knocking on his helmet playfully before walking off, on your way to get ready for the mission.
Tumblr media
Tunnels, 1100 hours, 63ft
“Y/n! Get down!” You heard Joey scream, it sounded almost like an echo. What the fuck? “Joey?” You groaned. Everything hurt. You felt like shit. You tried to sit up, only to gasp at the sharp pain in your shoulder. Your eyes snapped open, only to see it was dark all around you, besides the circle of light around you, which came from the giant hole in the ceiling above.
“Oh, what the fuck?” You winced, rolling onto your side. Your vision was blurry for a second, before everything came clear. The pain in your shoulder was burning like a white flame. You clutched it, only to find that it felt wet. “Ah, shit” you hissed. Pulling your hand back into the sunlight. Your hand was covered in blood. “Fan-fucking-tastic” you whispered, looking around to observe your surroundings as you stood up. You couldn’t really tell where you were exactly, other than it was a tunnel of some sort. “Joey? Jason?” You whisper/called. Careful incase there were enemies nearby. “What the fuck” you whispered, again and again. It’s the only thought you really had, as you looked for your weapons. other than finding your team and patching up your shoulder, of course. You assumed it was a bullet hole, giving the fact you were just in combat. ‘Oh, shit.’ You thought. The memories flooding back.
You stood up straight, checking your clip. Thank god it was full. You took a couple steps towards the dark tunnel, raising your weapon. Turning your headlight on. You could barely see, the path was so narrow. You clicked the intercom button on your earpiece “Scout to mailman 3, Nicky? Where are you?” You spoke just above a whisper. Your new call sign made you smile a little. Jason had given it to you a few days ago, saying something about how you’re like a girl scout.
As you approached you realized the three figures were Nick, Jason and clarice. Nick and Jason were saying something about needing to find you, and You heard merwin groan in pain. “found her” he managed to get out, making them all turn around “fancy meeting you here” you joked lightheartedly, grabbing your knife and starting to cut the wires. “How did you- what? Where did you come from?” Jason said in disbelief. “I honestly don’t know, jase” you said softly. Glancing at him for just a second, before continuing to Concentrate on not injuring you or merwin any more. Finally, you cut the right wire that sent merwin to the ground.
As you all surrounded him, he started screaming again. “oh fuck he’s so fucked” you heard Jason say breathlessly. “You don’t think I can- hear you” merwin gasped between breaths. He really was fucked. Blood and guts never really bothered you, but this was just awful. His skin was torn to shreds, pieces of barbed wire still mauling his flesh. You had to do something to get it out. “Hey, hey, look at me” you said softly. Putting a hand on merwins helmet. You were trying to comfort him. He may have been a dick, but that didn’t mean you needed to be one. “It’s gonna be okay, I’m gonna patch you up best I can, and then we’ll get out of here. Everything is going to be just fine.” “There’s morphine in my pack! Get it!” You heard Nick yell, “Jesus, who the hell loaded these packs” Jason grumbled. as you turned your head to look at them, clarice was yanked into the darkness.
“What the fuck?” You whispered in disbelief. You could hear your heartbeat in your ears. Jason stepped towards where clarice had disappeared. “Clarice?” Jason called softly, only to be answered by a menacing shrieking. Jason and Nick jumped back, meanwhile you had already grabbed merwins pack straps, ready to start moving him. “The fuck was that?” Merwin winced. Jason and Nick each grabbed one of merwins arms. “Move! Now!” He shouted, dragging the man behind the 3 of you. The trail of blood following.
“Nick he’s bleeding out, we have to take care of this” you insisted, dragging him into a corner. Hoping whatever was out there wouldn’t find you. You kept pressure on merwins wounds while Jason scoped out the area. “How is it?” Merwin winced. “You want the good version or the bad version?” You couldn’t look at him, knowing he was fucked either way. “Just give it to me straight.” He groaned. Nick shook his head, “I’m not gonna lie man, it’s pretty fuckin’ bad”. The shrieking was getting louder as you moved to start patching him up, he was bleeding out too quickly. “Whatever’s out there, he’s drawing them down on us!” Jason said in a panicked tone. You’ve never seen him this scared. “He won’t hold still jase, you need to get the morphine in him.” You turned your head. He was like a deer in headlights. “Now kolchek!” You demanded, he was a good soldier, they called him the best of the best. You knew he’d follow an order rather than a plea.
In a second Jason was digging the morphine out, as Nick kept his hand over merwins mouth to keep him quiet. you kept bandaging up several of merwins wounds, Joey had been giving you medicine training but it wasn’t enough.. wait, where’s Joey?you thought. Nick started to say something, but couldn’t hear what He was saying over the intense shrieking coming from down the hall. By the time you and Jason looked up, it was too late. “Nick, you’re choking him!” You slapped his hand away. Jason moved to check his pulse.
“Can’t find a pulse, I can’t find a fucking pulse” he said in a panicky tone. You looked over at Nick. “It can’t be! I- I didn’t mean to-“ he stuttered “he’s gone Nick, merwin is dead” Jason spoke just above a whisper. Your heart sank. You fell back into your heels, looking down at your blood soaked hands. Nick looked at you both in sheer regret. “I’m sorry- I- I didn’t mean, fuck” he nearly shrieked. Standing up with his hands on his head “Nick it’s okay” you sighed. “It was an accident ” You stood up, ignoring the pain in your left shoulder and side. Jason stood beside you. Your heart jumped when you saw him out of the corner of your eye. Fuck. Why did he have to stand so damn close? Normally you’d be annoyed that someone’s up your ass, but Jason being close made you feel.. safe? Not the kind of safe Nicky made you feel. Nick always said he had to protected you, but you wanted jason to protect you, to hold you. Jesus, this ain’t the time.
“We gotta move guys, they’re coming.” You turned, and jason grabbed your left arm “hey we need to-“ You let out a yelp, Jason immediately released his hold. He had grabbed your bad arm. As the adrenaline wore off, you remembered that you were shot. “Fuck” you seethed as you clutched it. Him twisting your arm made it start to bleed again. “Y/n? What the fuck happened to you?” Jason moved closer. Grabbing your shoulder to examine you. “Ow, ow jason, be careful would you?” You whimpered, The shrieking from whatever was chasing you seemed to have subsided. “Christ, you got hit” he sighed, applying pressure. “Good news is, the bullet went clean through” he spoke softly as he started to put bandages on each side. “Bad news?” You seethed, Clenching his shirt tightly. “We’re out of morphine” he chuckled. Making you smile a little “awesome” you turned your head to look at him.
He seemed so focused. his eyes were narrow on your wound, cursing as he fumbled with the last bandage. You never noticed how attractive he really was until now. His face and arms were covered in dirt, he had a cuts and scrapes all over him. He brought his eyes to meet yours and you immediately felt your face heat up, looking away and at nick. He was looking at the floor, clearly upset. “Nick-“ “Let’s move” Nick said sorrowfully, breezing past you and Jason, and down the cave corridor. You looked up at Jason, who was already looking at you. “Do you think he’ll be okay?” You whispered as you both started to walk, careful not to let Nick hear. “He’s a big boy, he’ll be fine” Jason spoke as if he was trying to convince himself, rather than you.
Suddenly, you hear some sort of clicking noise behind you. You turn, shining your headlight towards the noise. Your heart stopped. There was some sort of.. creature crawling towards you. It was winged, and massive. “Oh my god” you gasped. Jumping back. The creature shrieked, standing on two legs and bellowing an inhuman scream. “Fuck, fuck! We gotta move!” You heard Jason yell, in an instant your tiny group was racing down the corridor, being chased by whatever the hell that was. You rounded a corner, seeing collapsed debris over a small staircase, and a clear bath right next to it. “We gotta go through it!” Nick shouted. “The other ways safer, she can’t make it through-“ You cut Jason off irritably. “I don’t need my damn shoulder to jump.” You hissed, immediately hurdling over the collapsed pieces of structure. You didn’t mean to sound like a bitch, but now was not the time to be careful.
The boys followed close behind as you ran into a semi open area. Before you could even look around, something smashed into your side, knocking you to the ground. “Y/n!” You heard Nick shout as your back hit the floor. The winged creature was ontop of you, clawing at your face. You shielded yourself and tried to kick it off as best you could but to no avail, you pulled out your knife and started stabbing it in the chest. “Get it off!” You shrieked as Nick and Jason started shooting at it. the thing ran off, giving you time to scramble to your feet. You clutched your side in agony. “God I hate this place” you groaned, continuing to run down the tunnel. You ran as fast as you could, praying to whatever god was listening that there weren’t more ahead of you. You came to a corner. Stopping and pointing your weapon behind you down the hall.
“What the hell is going on?!” Nick shouted. “I don’t know man, it was not supposed to play out like this” Jason spoke shakily. “How the hell are we going to get out of-“ you were cut off by a voice over your earpiece. “Any call signs this is king, contact contact! Taking fire! Does anyone cope over!” You turned to look at Jason. “That’s Rachel!” Nick cried. “King, this is mailman 2-1 actual say again, over.” Jason said, holding his earpiece. No response. “king this is mailman 2-1 actual. How copy, over?!” Nothing. “Damn it!” He hissed, turning around and leading down the tunnel.
A little bit of time had passed, and all three of you had been walking for a while, in silence. Nick was the first to speak up. “I killed him” he choked out, “I fucking killed merwin” he let out a shaken breath. “It was an accident.” You and Jason said nearly in unisons. “Just like the woman at the checkpoint” he shook his head. “Don’t make shit weirder than it already is, clear your fucking mind!” Jason hollered. Making you jump a little.
“We need to find someplace to chill out for a second. Figure out a plan” you grumbled, turning a corner and seeing Eric, sobbing near a cliff. You felt so dizzy that you really didn’t care about Eric’s state of being. “Go see what’s up with him, I’ll keep watch” you said to Jason, who nodded and approached the colonel with Nick. You could hear Eric crying, but couldn’t make out any of the words. Everything hurt, your head was pounding, your shoulder felt like it was on fire, and your side was in excruciating pain. The creature that took you down must have broken a rib, or at the very least bruised one. You were still worried about Joey, hoping he was topside and safe.
“Rachel!” You jumped and ran towards your teammates at the sound of Nick yelling. “What the hell happened?” You said, looking between the three men. All of them were staring over the cliff. “No..” you stepped back. Shaking your head in disbelief, tears brimming your eyes. How could she be gone? You felt sick. “We gotta move, colonel we’re sitting ducks! We need to fall back, now.” Jason hollered. “Over there” Nick pointed towards what seemed to be a separate room, with huge doors. “Let’s go” you sighed, following Jason & nick. Eric was behind you.
“Scout, you’re bleeding” Eric exclaimed. Rushing to your side. “I’m fine, really, kolchek patched me up” you gave him a weak smile. “No, I mean you’re bleeding through the bandages.” “What?” You looked down, your shirt drenched in fresh blood. “Son of a bitch” you hissed, applying pressure. “Scout you don’t look so good..” Nick said warningly, walking closer to you with Jason beside him. “Gee, thanks sergeant, you really know how to make a girl feel special” you joked, trying to lighten the mood. You knew you’d eventually loose enough blood to weaken you, but you didn’t think it’d happen this quickly.
“Y/n seriously. Look at me.” Jason spoke up, and you did. “Jesus Christ” he breathed. Instantly putting your good arm over his shoulders. You tried to resist, but you were too tired. “Jason I’m fine, I can keep going.” You pleaded. You didn’t want to be dead weight. “Bullshit.” He grumbled. Picking you up and carrying you through the door. Everything faded to black.

Flashback
-
“Scout, hey! Um, hello? Earth to y/n?” You heard, picking your head up from your sketch pad to see Jason. “Oh hey kolchek. What’s up?” You were sitting on your bunk, relaxing after a long day of paperwork. “I said, Whatcha drawing there?” He chuckled. Sitting across from you. “I- um- nothing.” You said hurriedly, attempting to close your sketchbook, but he snatched it up to take a peek. “Jason!” You whined, trying to get it back. “No no! Let me see!” He laughed. Standing up and backing away so he could take a better look. “Well, we’ll miss y/l/n, something you need to tell me?” He teased. Holding it up and pointing at the half finished drawing of himself. He was standing in the briefing room, infront of a beautiful arched doorway. “I- no. What? No. I draw all of you I just- fuck this is awkward” you groaned. Covering your face with your hands. “Well?” He teased, raising his eyebrows with a grin on his face. “Jesus, Jason, I-“ you sighed. “I just like to draw you guys, that’s all” you looked up at him, praying he wouldn’t flip a page and see the one of him shirtless on the previous page. “I’m just teasin’, I think it’s pretty cool” he smiled, handing the sketch pad back. “Thanks” you smiled, taking the pad and setting it on your cot. “Next time though, you should draw one of us” he gulped, realizing what he just said. “You know, all of us” he said a little too quickly, causing you to raise an eyebrow. “Well well, mr kolchek, something you wanna tell me?” You teased, mocking him. You stood up, walking closer to him. The tension was growing thicker every second. “I-“ he was cut off by Joey coming into the room “guys, Merwin and Nick are gonna- woah. Am I interrupting something?” He said in shock, seeing you and Jason nearly chest-to-chest “nope, not at all, Cmon lieutenant” you hummed, following Joey out of your room. Jason just stood there, flustered and confused.

“Monsters,”
You all three turned and looked at Nick who looked like he was on the verge of losing it.
“Monsters?” Eric walked a little closer to Nick but stopped like a foot away from him.
“Come on. You’re jumping at shadows!”
“Sir,” Jason started as he walked closer to Eric. “With all due respect.”
“Lieutenant! We’re trapped down here with an enemy Iraqi, maybe more. Whatever you think you’re seen- it’s bullshit,”
If you were still sobbing, the way Eric just talked to Jason would’ve made you instantly stop with how much anger you had for him. You forced a laugh out. “Just because you’re the commanding officer does-”
Jason quickly ran over to you and covered your mouth to stop you from talking. He looked you straight in the eyes and lowered his voice to where only you could hear him. “I appreciate you standing up for me but I need to behave before you get yourself in trouble,”
You chuckled as he uncovered your mouth.. “Yeah, that’s gonna be kinda tough since you know my hormones are heightened and I can’t control it very well,”
Jason narrowed his eyes on you. “Please try,”
“No promises,”
“Is this how you’re gonna act this entire pregnancy?”
“What are you talking about? I’m always this stubborn,”
Jason smiled before he kissed you. “As a mule,”
“These statues,”
Jason walked away from you and to Nick. “NICK! Take a mental picture and snap the fuck out of it!”
“What is this place anyways?”
“It’s not the silo, that’s for sure. This mission is a bust,”
“I can fix this, the satellite. I’ll go over the data to improve the algorithm. They’re clearly teething problems,”
You rolled your eyes at him. “You don’t say,”
Jason gave you a look and you just smiled at him. “Understood, sir,”
On one hand, Jason was calm and collected even though you knew he was beyond pissed for many reasons. On the other hand, Nick wasn’t calm and collected and he wasn’t afraid to show it. If anyone should get chewed out it was Nick. “You got us into this mess, you better get us out,”
Eric’s face showed that he didn’t like the tone Nick had. “Do you wanna repeat that?”
Eric walked over to Nick and tried to square up with him but Nick didn’t answer. “That’s what I thought,”
The obvious winner in a fight between Eric and Nick would be Nick. Eric would definitely get whooped by Jason if they got into it. Eric is just a pretty boy who thinks he’s tough shit because of his rank but in reality there’s nothing special about him. Despite supposedly being a so-called genius, his satellite is the source of your downfall.
All of a sudden, the light completely went out. Jason started walking down the room. “Keep an eye on Merwin. We’ll check it out. Yn-”
“I’m coming with you,”
“Of course, you are. I’m not trusting you with anyone other than myself and Nick,”
You three started walking into the conjoining room to find the generator. You kept close to Jason as you walked down the stairs. “So this is Saddam’s chemical weapons silo, huh? Run for the fucking hills. We’re all doomed!”
“So much for Eric’s ‘pioneering thermal satellite system’. Eric is gonna have some pretty tough questions to answer,”
“I wouldn’t like to be in those shoes,”
You playfully hit Jason in the shoulder. “You told me to behave so I’m telling you. Behave,”
Jason laughed. “I told you to behave in front of him. You have free range when you’re not in front of him,”
“Oh well…hey there’s the generator,”
You could see that it was sparking pretty bad and when you three got closer you could see it looked like it was sabotaged. Nick walked around to the back to look. “Someone’s taking a serious disliking to this thing,”
“Sabotage?”
You looked at Jason like he just read your mind and laughed but didn’t say anything.
“Looks it. Watch my back. I mean it. No making kissy faces at Yn,”
You flipped him off. “You’re the reason why God created the middle finger, Nick,”
Jason busted out laughing.
“Wow, your maker really didn’t waste time giving you a personality, huh?”
“If I had a face like yours, I would sue my parents,”
“You’re my favorite person… besides every other person I’ve ever met,”
“You are the human version of period cramps,”
You raised an eyebrow at Nick as he just shook his head in defeat and did whatever he needed to do in order to get the generator to work. You looked over at Jason and he was trying to catch his breath from laughing so hard. “I swear you two are gonna end up killing me,”
You shrugged. “Would you rather have your best friend and your girlfriend hate each other?”
“No,”
At that point, the lights came back on and Jason looked at Nick. “Good job, Sergeant,”
“You’re actually smart? That’s a shocker,”
Nick flipped you off and you just laughed.
That’s when you heard a light go off and you saw that one of the rooms was completely black again. Jason and Nick got into defensive mode as they walked towards the dark room. You walked right behind Nick as Nick pushed you to be in between him and Jason. You should just accept that at this point. You think they were protected over you, just wait til this baby comes out. That thought made you happy and thankful that you have these two wonderful guys in your life. The thought of both of them trying to change a diaper also made you giggle. Jason look slightly behind him. “What are you giggling about back there?”
“Nothing,”
You knew that he knew you were full of bullshit but he chose to ignore it and called Eric over the coms. “Dropkick, this is Mailman Two-One Actual. We’re heading deeper. Over,”
“Acknowledged. You be care in there. Dropkick out,”
When you guys got close to the entrance of the room, Nick and Jason stood side by side. “Cable split. Let’s see where they lead to,”
You walked as far as you could into the room but the end of the tunnel was a dead end but there was an opening with light on. You followed the boys into another hallway and they were keeping their eyes straight and forward, not bothering to look at the ground. You saw the tripwire seconds before Jason stepped near it. You grabbed his arm and pulled him back. He looked back at you confused. “What?”
You pointed at the tripwire. “There’s a tripwire, dummy,”
Jason looked down at the tripwire as he crossed over it, then Nick and you last. Jason bent down to look at it. “It looks simple enough,”
“Counter explosion?”
“Nah, just need to cut the trigger,”
Jason stood up and sighed. “Gotta be the mother fucker that shot at Eric,”
Jason pushed his com to talk to Eric. “Dropkick, this is Mailman Two-One Actual. Do you copy? Over,”
“Dropkick receiving. How’s it going out there, Kolchek?”
“Your friends sprung an IED on us. We’re good, but you’ll want to keep your eyes open just in case he left some more love notes, over,”
“Copy that. Moving up. Dropkick out,”
-
After Jason had found the IED, you three stood there for a few seconds while making fun of Eric and that’s when you heard a noise and Jason was convinced that it was Joey. Before you three started following the noise, Eric showed up and took control over the situation. You four searched for a while and all you had found was Joey’s com, glasses, and helmet. You guys were also attacked by the Iraqis. They had thrown a grenade at you that resulted in rocks caving in and Nick was separate from you three. By the time you had gotten to Nick, he had killed one of the creatures and Eric made them carry it to HQ so he could study it.
You were standing in the middle of the room, watching Nick as he hit the trigger to detonate the bomb to create a cave in. “That’s the last one. Should at least slow ‘em down,”
You walked up to Jason and Nick. “Long enough to spot them on the camera,”
You three walked to the room that had the tripwire, Jason walked up to the camera and pushed a button on it. “We should probably reset the tripwire. Give me a hand,”
Both Jason and Nick place their guns in the holster and kneel down to reset it. “We’re been in some fucked pu situtations before,”
“Never as fucked as this,”
“If I gotta fight these things, there’s no one else I would want by my side,”
They both finished the tripwire and stood up as Jason spoke. “You know I’ve always got your back, buddy. Come what may,”
“Do you two need some alone time? I can go and wait in HQ?”
You started to walk back that way but Jason grabbed you and pulled you into his arms and kissed the side of your head. Jason looked over at Nick. “There’s something that I need to tell you. We need to tell you. Y/n is pregnant,”
Nick looked at you searching for how to answer this, you just kept your face relaxed. You didn’t care how he answered it and I hope Nick realized that. “Yeah, man. I already knew,”
Jason looked at you. “You told him before you told me?”
“I actually didn’t say the words ‘I’m pregnant’
“She really didn’t say those words and I guessed,”
“When was this? When did you tell him?”
“Earlier today,”
Jason nodded. “Oh okay,”
“You’re not mad, are you?”
Jason stared at you. “No, I’m not mad,”

Hello!
I hope you’re doing well. I was wondering if you’d be able to do a headcanon or a fic (which ever you’d like) on Eric from house of ashes taking care of the reader when their sick
Thank you so much! 🤍
Hi dear! I love your request and I certainly have heart eyes for Colonel King so I had A TON of fun writing this 🤭 Hope you enjoy this drabble 💕
Pairing: Eric King x Reader (Gender Neutral) [The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes]
Warnings: Descriptions of sickness/flu symptoms, Swearing(?)
Genre: FLUFF, Romance, Comfort Fluff
Being in the Marines has strengthened Eric's immune system greatly over the past decade
However, he still remembers how you'd take care of him when he was sick all the times he came down with the most simple sickness and dramatized it as if he was on his death bed
And he's never hesitated to give you the same treatment in return
Even if you are more of a 'It's nothing' type
So much so you wouldn't think twice about going to work (as long as whatever you have isn't contagious)
Thankfully, Eric is not about to let that happen
Count on this man becoming a human vending machine, providing all the snacks, drinks and candy you desire
His cooking skills are mediocre at best and on a good day, but that's not to say he doesn't put in an extra 110% into his attempts when they are meant for you
He's mastered the classic chicken noodle soup so count on that being breakfast, lunch and dinner if ordering takeout wasn't a thing
He wouldn't let you lift a finger, insisting you stay in bed and rest while he takes care of the household chores
It's a relaxation tactic for him as well, getting to do something as ordinary as vacuum the living room or wash the dishes helps him forget the last warzone he barely escaped with his life
At the end of the day, he's sure to climb in bed beside you, wrapping his arms around you despite your warnings to preserve his own health
You both fall asleep, with him more likely to be the first, while whatever movie you chose keeps playing as background noise
10/10 partner you got there, that's all imma say

The wind from the blades blew strands of hair loose from your braid, whipping at your features, squinting your eyes at the helo that just landed in front of you. A man stepped out followed by a woman carrying equipment.
You and Jason saluted the newcomer walking toward you. "Colonel, good trip?"
"Not particularly." the man spoke up glancing at you and Jason through his sunglasses. "Welcome to Camp Slayer" Jason greeted offering a hand.
"My apologies for being early, things are moving fast" he apologized shaking Jason's hand.
"And this is my assistant, Clarice Stokes" Eric added ,turning to the woman.
"No worries sir ,good to have you on board. The techs are ready for your presentation, hello ma'am" Jason greeted ,the woman trailing behind Eric. "Stokes, Dr. Clarice Stokes" the woman said smiling at Jason, "Kolchek , First Lieutenant Kolchek" he said with his southern drawl, "And this is Corporal Y/N Jackowski " he added motioning to you with a quick nod of his head.
"Pleasure to meet you" you greeted politely.
Clarice let out a tight lipped smile and pushed passed you following Eric. This is going to be just 'lovely' you thought to yourself. Yep you're pretty sure she already doesn't like you.
Considering you were one of only two women on base, already not getting along too well with Rachel being the other, you sighed in defeat. You definitely found it easier to get along with the rest of the marines.
Maybe it was just the way you were raised , you weren't some pretty princess that needed saving, you could look after yourself and hold your own if push comes to shove. Or at least that's what your father taught...more like beat into you since you were a kid. Your father always wanted a son after all...and all your mother could give him was a daughter. So he raised you into what he wanted instead of what you were.
"You coming back there, Jack?" you heard Jason's voice call out
You shook the thoughts from your head and pushed yourself forward following after the group of people.
Even a few feet away from the group you could hear the blaring noise from Merwin's radio. He was busy with his daily workout and physically working on your nerves even before opening his mouth. You came to a halt next to Jason.
"I see you old man, keep busting out those reps" Jason said smiling slightly at Merwin sitting upright to look at the group of people in front of him.
"Come join me, maybe I'll teach you a thing or two" Merwin answered, his eyes scanning the faces before landing on you.
"Later. We have company" Jason spoke gesturing to Eric.
"Maybe missy would like to watch me get a sweat on, huh?" Merwin smiled and you raised your eyebrows visibly cringing at his offer.
Merwin loved poking fun at you or it was just to grind Jason's gears from time to time since he could see Jason's jaw clench at the comment.
You were used to Merwin being well...Merwin at this point but he always seemed to have the knack for rubbing you the wrong way.
"You wanna spot me little lady?" he smiled, a glint of amusement present in his eyes.
"Nah, I got eyes. I can see you quite fine from here thanks" you let out as nicely as possible
Merwin shifted his attention to his newest victim, sending Clarice a wink.
"Ignore Corporal Merwin, he lacks social skills" Jason stated turning to Eric. He glanced at you sending you a soft nod before continuing his walk along the hall.
"God have mercy on whatever demented creature married him" You sighed softly. Not soft enough though as Jason let out a soft snort. "Amen to that" he chuckled.
"What was that?" Merwin called out, you turned sending him a wink.
"Well I guess every unit has it's resident jackass" Eric stated, following closely behind.
The walk to the briefing room was not too eventful, running into Nick on the way.
"This is Sergeant Kay" Jason introduced giving Nick a pat on the shoulder. Nick scanned the group, looking at Eric but blatantly ignoring him when he spoke to him, "Yeah gotta get in there and get prepped" he mumbled, walking off. You frowned in question. The fuck was up with Nick? Since he seemed pretty chirpy on his way to see Rachel earlier.
"So what's his malfunction?" Eric asked watching as sergeant Kay walked away.
Jason sighed, "Nick ain't been himself lately. Civilian ate a bullet. Nick took it hard"
"Is he combat ready?" Eric asked frowning ,looking between you and Kolchek.
"He's a big boy sir, he's ready" You answered simply standing your ground.
Entering the briefing room, Jason led the group though the doorway. "So this must be the one and only satellite guy" Joey commented from his desk watching intently as the man stood in front of him. You looked down at Joey a smile creeping onto your lips, shaking your head slowly, knowing Joey's about to eat shit.
"Colonel Eric King...the satellite guy" Eric said seemingly a little amused by the marine's mistake. You could see Joey's soul leave his body for a moment as he stumbled up to his feet saluting the new commanding officer. "Lance Corporal Comez, sir!" he introduced, Jason biting back his own smile.
"Give the Colonel full site access" He stated pointing at Joey
"Well I'm telling ya, when the Queen Bitch finds out about this, she's gonna flip" Jason said holding up the letter.
"Yeah, me and Rachel know each other, she'll understand" Eric stated, your eyebrows lifting at his comment.
"Sir?" Jason had visible confusion on his face
Clarice cleared her throat and spoke up "The Queen Bitch you're referring to, is his wife". You swear you could see Jason's eyes grow twice it's size.
You bite down on your lip to suppress the smile that was forcing it's way on your face. You've never heard silence louder than what befell the room at that moment.
Eric made his way past Jason looking through the rest the room's got to offer.
You stepped over to Jason who dropped his head squeezing his eyes shut. A low "fuck" escaped his lips.
God it was funny
He saw the amusement written all over your face even though you tried your best to hide it, sucking your lips in to form a thin line.
"Don't.You.Fucking.Dare" he pressed out in a threatening low voice his accent heavily present. You couldn't help but crack more at the empty threat as a soft half chuckle escaped your lips, you gave him a pat on the shoulder
You smiled to yourself knowing you're gonna tease the shit out of him later for that one.
"Nice work, hotshot" you winked walking into the room, Jason following suit.
"Sir, I am so sorry. Rachel never mentioned that she was married" you heard Jason apologize as you walked over to Joey.
Still amused "How you doing Joey? How you like the new commander" you asked, a shit eating grin plastered on your face as you made yourself comfortable sitting on the edge of the desk. Joey gave you a glare and if looks could kill, you'd be six feet beneath catering for some maggots by now. Eventually he broke a smile at the memory. You tapped him on the back of the helmet reassuringly ,"Happens to the best of us, bud".
"What even is this place? Looks like a ballroom" Clarice asked, a voice as sweet as honey
"That's exactly what it is, ma'am. Saddam was dancing it out here" Jason answered looking around at the building.
"Maybe I'll even let you take me for a spin" She said seductively, smiling at Jason.
You turned your head in Clarice's direction and narrowed your eyes at her. You weren't the jealous type, you knew better than that.
It's not like you had any right to be jealous either, you had no claim on Jason whatsoever. Still her words spewed so sweetly to Lieutenant Kolchek made heat rise from somewhere deep in your chest spreading through your whole body, you just hoped it didn't resonate on your face. Your face definitely spoke louder than your words sometimes.
"Jack....Jackowski, Y/N? Earth to Jack" Joey said snapping his fingers next to your face. Finally drawing your attention.
"Mhm?" You turned looking at Joey staring at you with an raised eyebrow. "Looked like you wanted to murder either Kolchek or the girl" he said a mischievous smile forming on his lips.
"What? No, sorry my head was somewhere else" you forced a smile, Joey not buying it.
"Uh huh yeah, like mentally murdering the girl?" he said ,humor trailed in his voice
"Yeah. What? No jesus Joey. Just thinking about some things I guess" you stated.
Not entirely sure if you were trying to convince Joey or yourself with that
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The briefing felt like it took forever, especially with the added awkwardness between Rachel and Eric that was as clear as day.
Overall the tension was high in the room, irritable and the heat didn't help.
Eric went over the details of the mission, pretty straight forward.
Go in, take control, find the silo, confiscate the WMD's and leave with as little casualties as possible.
Well easier said than done.
You scanned over the room, your arms crossed over your chest as you watched the marines' annoyed faces as Eric and Merwin argued about some bullshit, yet again. Probably just another pissing competition between them.
"You act like this in all your briefings, Corporal?" Eric threatened
"Sorry sir, the boys are just ready to catch a break. No harm meant" Jason apologized on Merwin's behalf
His eyes glanced over ,meeting yours. You offered him a small smile as you shifted your body on the table, turning your attention back to Eric's speech.
"Sir, we just got urgent weather reports of a sandstorm moving in over the Zagros Mountains" Clarice notified, Eric slammed his fist down on the table cursing. The mission was set to take action the next hour but the sandstorm made it impossible to fly out.
"Finish your preps, we move out tomorrow at daybreak" Eric commanded leaving the room.
To your surprise you felt relief by the postponement of the mission, something about it didn't sit quite right with you. Usually when missions came you got your head in the game and did as told but you survived off your own instincts. That gut feeling hasn't let you down yet.
The team finished the last of the preparations for the next morning's mission.
All you wanted to do tonight was relax and take it easy maybe catch up on some reading, since you had no guard duty, you were free for the night.
You were just on your way out when a hand caught your arm, your head snapped to the culprit.
Jason smiled at you, dimples making themselves known. "You have plans tonight, Jack?" he asked.
You looked at him weighing your options mentally before speaking, "Mhm yeah, I don't have too much going on. Why?"
You figured, it might be your last night alive tonight so why the hell not, there's always the chance of getting shot tomorrow.
He smiled at your answer, "Good , then join me and some of the boys tonight for some not so cold, cold ones" He suggest a smile on his face, think he also felt some relief.
You nodded your head "Fine but only a few, you know I don't do well with alcohol" You laughed at the memories flooding your brain of the last time you got tipsy and ended up punching Merwin out cold because of some dispute.
Jason let out a chuckle laughing at the fact he knew exactly what you were referring to.
"It honestly wouldn't be such a bad thing if it happened again" Jason snickered a crooked smile on his face.
You shook your head embarrassed of your own behaviour, you were normally calm and collected but damn you were a lightweight, "No I'd rather not take my chances, maybe I'll get reported to the lieutenant".
Jason raised an eyebrow, smiling at your words. "You just might" He whispered barely audible.
You smiled playfully at the words he probably didn't mean to say out loud "Then I'll see you later." you answered waving a hand as a goodbye to the few guys left in the room.
You took your leave to your quarters that you shared with 3 other marines including Joey.
So privacy was...interesting. At least the men respected your needs, especially when it came to washing up. You were allowed to use to closed off shower in the Sergeants' shared bathroom. The bathroom used by the higher ranking marines, it was fancier than what you guys had, more intact and working.
You entered the room making sure to knock first.
"Hey, you're back early. You ain't got guard duty tonight?" Joey greeted, laying sprawled out on his bed reading some magazine, dear god you hoped it was a normal magazine. After the last incident of walking in on Joey at an...undesired time both of you made the unspoken agreement of always knocking VERY loudly before entering the room.
"Nah, I'm free tonight Joe. Ricky and Theo are on guard so we get the room for ourselves, but said I'd go out and have some drinks with Jason...." Joey turned immediately looking at you raising his eyebrows "...and some of the other boys"
You frowned at his sudden change of expression, "What? Did I say something?" you asked, honestly confused Joey looked at you as if you just sacrificed his first born son.
"Spit it out Gomez" you challenged
"Nah Nah nothin's wrong...So you and Kolchek? Anything going on there, perhaps??" he asked stepping closer.
Fuck.
"What? Our Lieutenant Kolchek? Are you crazy? He's my superior no fucking way man" You tried to sound convincing
Joey assessed your words, watching you intensely before narrowing his eyes at you
FUCK.
"I'm not buying it" he said plainly
"What do you mean?"
"You got very nervous when I mentioned Kolchek where as you're usually calm AND you did that weird knuckle rubbing thing you always do when you lie."
FUCK.
You stared quietly at Joey trying to come up with an excuse but your brain had 12 tabs open and half were frozen. You were screwed utterly screwed. Joey was going to torture you with his newly learned knowledge.
Even if you denied it, it would be no use. Joey knew you better than that, he'd see right through you.
"Considering you're not denying my brilliance...I'm gonna poke the bear and say I'm right?" Joey stated, a shit eating grin on his face.
You sighed your defeat, looking up at him
"Oh shit, I knew it!" he said maybe a little too loudly considering the paper thin walls.
"What do you mean, 'you knew it' ? " you cornered him
"Pfft, you don't think I see the blatant flirting you two do? The way you'd follow him into hell or take a bullet for him at any given chance?."
You bit your lip rolling his words through your head, "Okay firstly that's kind of part of the job description and secondly I don't think he sees me like that"
Joey shrugged at your response "Uh huh say what you want."
You narrowed your eyes at the man flicking his glasses so they sit crooked on his face.
"I'm gonna go wash up, I'm still sweaty from this morning's PE"
Joey swatted your hand away and resumed his place reading the magazine.
You gathered your change of clothes paired with a scratchy beige towel and made your way to the bathroom.
The warm water hitting your skin after today felt amazing, your bones ached and your muscles were tired. You washed your hair and scrubbed at the dust sticking to your arms.
You didn't want to leave the comfort of the warm shower but you had to eventually, you reached a hand out of the shower searching for the clothes you dumped.
Underwear, grey sweatpants, sports bra, shirt. Shirt? Fuck where's the shirt. You put the close on leaving the shower cubicle trying to find the shirt. Fuck I probably dropped it on the way here.
A creak sounded as the door to the bathrooms opened, your heart skipped a beat.
Shit
Covering what you could, using the towel you covered your stomach, shoulders and breasts.
The door opened and Jason looked more shocked than you after stepping inside, you stared at him blankly for a moment
"What's the chances of meeting you here?" you said awkwardly
Jason blinked a few times before opening his mouth and closing it again
"Y-you know the normal, showering and what not " he let out his brows furrowed.
You shook your head in agreement trying to make the situation less awkward. Was it working? No
"Uh, you alright there Kyra?" Jason finally spoke the question he had been thinking.
"Mhm yeah...yeah no, I-I forgot my shirt" you admitted with a thin lipped smile.
"That makes more sense" he chuckled stepping closer. Your eyes widening a bit
"Here, take mine" he proposed, slipping his blue shirt off and handing it to you.
"Thank you, it'll be less weird than using the towel to go back" you admitted ,taking the shirt from his hand.
It was still warm from his body heat, your eyes involuntarily flicked over to his chest and immediately you realized what you did.
Shit
Jason smiled to himself at the fact you just checked him out. He stepped back and put a hand over his eyes allowing you to drop the towel.
You quickly slipped the shirt over your head, it was a bit big and it smelled like him. It was a deep woody smell mixed with a bit of dust.
"Thank you, I really appreciate it. You can drop your hand, I'm done"
Jason smiled looking at the sight of you in his shirt, "Blue suits you" He commented
You didn't know how to respond, a smile creeped on your face "Thanks, I should probably get going"
You pushed your wet hair back so it hanged loose for the trip to your room.
"Then I'll see you a little later" Jason spoke, a soft smile on his face as he flipped his towel over the shower door.
You nodded making your leave, walking briskly back to your barrack ignoring the questioning looks you received from the passing soldiers.
_____________________________________________
You knocked, entering your shared room making a bee line for where the grey tank top still layed untouched on your bed.
"Goddammit, you idiot Kyra" you mumbled to yourself, throwing the shirt over the bed's frame.
"You took your time, nice shirt. Wait nice shirt?" Joey retraced his steps to stop behind you crossing his arms.
"Thanks" you absentmindedly answered, packing away your toiletries.
"Who's shirt is that?" He asked
"Mine, why?" You played it off
A moment of silence passed and you turned to face the man who was burning holes through the back of your skull.
"Woman, I know you only own 6shirts, 3 green army uniform shirts, a black tshirt, that tank top and a grey sweatshirt. Plus by the looks of it, that shirt is at least a size too big for you so my question validly stands" Joey claimed with a smirk on his face.
You blinked at the man a few times, struggling to actually find the words to say, as borderline creepy as the fact was he was right. It's one thing you had to give to Joey, he was damn observant. "Okay that's low key scary but fine, it's not my shirt. I forgot mine when I took a shower and had to borrow one." You admitted
Joey weighed your answer searching for something
"Ha. So who's is it?"
You shut your eyes, knowing the answer will just set him off more.
"It's...Jason's. He came into the bathroom when I was about to leave"
Joey smiled, happy with your answer
"Knew I recognized that shirt from somewhere."
"Oh shut up, Gomez" you shooed the man away.
The sun was almost entirely gone when you looked out the window at the stray palm trees in the distance. Only their silhouettes really visible.
Flopping down on your bed you silently stared at the crumbling tile ceiling.

Plot Summary:
Aria Chang, a 30-year-old General Major of the USMC Force Reconnaissance and a human weapon of war, is sent to investigate the suspected chemical weapons at Target LZ. But once foundations start crumbling (literally), she is forced to fight for her life against the vampiric creatures of the underground that were out for cold blood.
In the ominous underground, she encounters Iraqi soldier Salim Othman and is compelled to make a strained alliance with him if they are to all survive the House of Ashes. After being honed to kill any enemies on sight for many years, Aria must learn to cooperate with the opposition no matter the uniform they donned.
But what happens when bonds start to form, lust begins to grow, and secrets come to the light? How will their American weapon of war deal with the lurking demons that not only creep in the shadows but those that begin to grow in her head?
Together with Eric, Rachel, Nick and Jason, they must not only face their inner demons as they enter the temple doors but also be prepared to atone for their sins if they were to escape the underground.
Fortnightly Updates: Every Sunday 2:00pm PST/ 10:00pm GMT
Chapter 15 Sneak Peek:
Aria was fidgeting in her bed, unable to keep still as her eyes kept glancing over at the ticking clock hanging on the medical bay’s wall.
Aria never fidgets. Her? The deadly assassin that can keep as still as a rock for hours at a time, is being restless for once? Unheard of.
She had called for a soldier to send Salim and Zain to see her in the medical bay. She was feeling very nervous as she was nowhere in the proper attire nor physical state for any guests to see her. She was wearing a white medical gown, with thick casts wrapped around her left arm and right leg as her bones were healing in those areas. They had also wrapped her chest in bandages as they suspected a few broken bones within her ribcage from the hard landing she suffered when falling off a cliff. They did not have any X-ray equipment at the centre, but the doctor knew for sure her arm and leg had suffered serious damage.
There were some small splashes of dried blood on her plain white gown, as they cleaned up some cuts and scratches she unknowingly suffered during the operation. The adrenaline in her at the time resulted in her body not acknowledging half of the injuries she had dealt with, but now that she was back in her calm state, Aria could not help but feel sore all over.
She remembered the following days after escaping the House of Ashes, where her body was excruciatingly sore and stiff. She had to do an embarrassing waddle to lessen the pain she felt in her muscles as she was ushered back into the interrogation room for the rest of the week, and her left ankle that she nearly sprained turned a nasty colour of purple even though it did not cause her any major discomfort when she walked on it. Though nobody knew about it as she always had her shoes on, and refused to take them off even when the CENTCOM “doctor” did a medical checkup on her in the quarantine room.
But now she was in nothing but a medical gown with stiff casts and blood-soaked bandages surrounding some of her appendages. Her left foot was bare but it was covered underneath a thin blanket. The dark mixture of bruised purple had transformed into a much lighter shade of lavender with a mixture of blue and green within the bruise. She had assured the doctor in the medical bay (who was much nicer than the CENTCOM one) that it was not causing her any discomfort, so they resorted to just occasionally putting some ointment on it to lessen the bruise.
Aria’s heart was beating steadily at a fast pace as her eyes kept darting from the clock to the entrance door. It did not help that she was in the general ward, meaning there were other injured soldiers lying next to her in separate beds so the doctors came in often to check up on them as well. Her heart would always jump through her throat anytime a person opened that door, only for it to drop in disappointment when it was just a nurse or someone else.
She did not know why she was so on-edge, especially when she had only seen Salim not too long ago. Though it was still enough time for them to digest the event that occurred underground, a small fearful part of her worried that Salim no longer cared about her. Hell, she didn't even know if he did want to come to America, but she did request for the immigration agent to make it clear to him that it was just an option he could take. And now that she was told that he had come to the camp in preparation to be brought to the US, surely he did want to go on his own violation, right? She just hoped to not catch Salim with a guarded look in his eyes once he saw her, hoping to keep his distance from a monster that wiped out almost half of the Iraqi army in cold blood.
These thoughts came looming within her mind, and they grew increasingly louder as the clock continued to tick in dense silence. The painful tension shattered into pieces and landed on Aria’s chest in agony as she saw the door slowly open and a familiar pair of brown eyes peeked into the room.

"the taste of your lips is my idea of luxury" || tom blyth x singer!reader
a/n: inspired by ts once again !!!
i'm perfectly fine, i live on my own i made up my mind, i'm better off bein' alone
you had spent the last few years being single and throwing yourself into your work. that was evident through the sheer amount of music you'd made in the last five years and the world tours you'd gone on.
after your messy break up a few years ago, you'd sworn off love and relationships lately. though, they did make great inspiration for music. but throwing yourself into your work for the past three years had consequences. you were feeling burnt out after your latest world tour and your manager had strongly urged you to take a break for awhile. not to mention you were in a rut. you hadn't wrote a single song in months. nothing inspired you, all of the songs you tried to write sounded wrong.
we met a few weeks ago now you try on callin' me, baby, like tryin' on clothes
rachel was a good friend of yours, you had met on at a red carpet once and became fast friends. she had recently finished up filming for a project and was in new york. she wanted to meet up with you and introduce you to her cast mates.
that's when you met tom. there was an instant attraction between you two, there was no doubt about it. everyone in the room could feel it. tom, luckily, also lived in new york. but he lived in brooklyn while you lived in manhattan. but he was constantly calling you, asking you to meet up or come over and hang out. nearly every day he was free he'd call you up.
salute to me, i'm your american queen and you move to me like i'm a motown beat and we rule the kingdom inside my room
you two were just hanging out in your bedroom, listening to your vinyl records. stand by me started playing, softly filling the room. "dance with me," tom stands, offering his hand to you. you just smile and agree, standing up. his arm snakes around your waist as your hand makes its way to his shoulder. you lay your head on his chest as you two sway to the music.
"this is nice," you whisper out as the song ends. "i like spending time with you. hours feel like minutes here," he responds as he spins you around, causing you to erupt in giggles at his antics. you continue to dance around the room until the sun sets behind you, lost in your own world with tom. when you were with him, everything else melted into the background. it was like the only thing in focus was tom.
'cause all the boys and their expensive cars with their range rovers and their jaguars never took me quite where you do
you had reluctantly agreed to a date with someone one of your model friends had set you up with. he picked you up from your apartment in his flashy car, drawing attention to you two from everyone around you. you weren't quite used to all this attention, you had been a lot more private in recent years.
the date was absolutely terrible. he took you to some upscale restaurant that served expensive dishes that were only 1-2 bites each. as he drove you back to your place, all you could think of was how you wish you'd just stayed home and gotten take out with tom. you'd be a lot less hungry and a lot more happy if you'd done so.
after being dropped off, you texted gigi that you're never letting her set you up again. after texting her, you called tom. he picked up almost immediately, as if he was waiting for you. "that was the worst date ever!" you shout, once the call connects. all you hear is his melodic laugh in response. "i wish i would've just stayed home and gotten take out. i'm starving. the restaurant we went to didn't fill me at all!”
"how about i come over and pick up something up on the way there? we can watch a movie or two and you can tell me more about how much of a disaster it was." you smile at his suggestion. "that sounds great, i'll see you soon?" you answer, happily. "see you soon, love." he hangs up. you smile, couldn't wait.
and all at once, you are the one i have been waiting for king of my heart, body and soul
being with tom felt easy. you didn't realize it at first, but then all of a sudden he was embedded in every part of your life. being with him was as easy as breathing. it came naturally to the two of you. he had somehow snuck in and captured your heart.
"i love you," you whisper out as the two of you stare up at the stars. you'd decided to go on a camping trip upstate. you were laying on a blanket, cuddling. it just felt right with him. nothing was ever forced. it was simple.
tom sits up abruptly at your words, looking into your eyes "do you mean it?" he asks, unsure. "you're the king of my heart, body and soul." you state, staring back at him. a huge grin making its way onto his face. "i love you, i have for awhile. i was just too scared to say it first. i wasn't sure if you felt the same." he admits, a little shy.
"you are my everything. there's nothing i wouldn't do for you." you admit to him, leaning in and placing a delicate kiss on his lips. you feel him smile into the kiss as he deepens it, pushing you to lay on the blanket and crawling on top of you.
late in the night, the city's asleep your love is a secret i'm hoping, dreaming, dying to keep
"shhh, don't be so loud! it's like 3am." you whisper shout at tom as you two walk through london. it was a stunning city, even more so with him by your side. "i love this woman!!!! i'm so glad she's mine!!!" he shouts into the open air, spinning in circles and laughing. his silliness causes you to laugh at him, playfully slapping him on the chest, trying to get him to shut up.
tomorrow was the world premiere of the ballad of songbirds and snakes. you were so excited for him and the rest of the cast, but there was a selfish part of you that wanted to keep him to yourself. you didn't want him to become the internet's boyfriend or the 'white boy of the month'. you wanted to keep your love a secret from the world.
you wanted to shield the budding love from the cruelty of not only the world, but the tabloids. the press had ruined your previous relationships, breaking the trust you'd previously shared because of false rumors and speculations. you know tom wasn't like that, but you didn't want to be proved wrong. you just wanted to hold onto this secret for a little longer.
change my priorities the taste of your lips is my idea of luxury
some people may have labeled you as materialistic in the past, your countless new shoes and outfits adding fuel to the fire. but, as of late, your priorities had changed. you no longer cared for material goods, the only thing you desired was tom. everything about tom, you wanted. his hugs, his kisses, and especially his love for you. his love would be worth more than anything money could buy you.
is this the end of all the endings? my broken bones are mending with all these nights we're spending
shortly after meeting tom, you were reinvigorated. he was your muse. he mended your heart and gave you inspiration to write once again. no longer were you writing sad songs about ended relationships, but songs confessing your love to him. by the time you had known him for six months, you'd already written enough songs for two 20 song albums and a few extra for deluxe editions.
the more time you spent with him, the more songs you were inspired to write because of him. your agent had wanted to kiss him on the mouth personally for the amount of songs he had inspired you to write after over a year of nothing. your fans would be thrilled to hear you'd be releasing new music after three years of nothing.
"what are you doing there, darling?" tom walks into your office as you play around on the piano and write down the notes you were playing. "just composing a new song. i was inspired during our date last night. i just finished writing the lyrics and now i'm trying to come up with the melody." you answer him, not looking up from the notebook. his eyes widen at your words. "you wrote the lyrics already?" he asks surprised.
you look up from you notebook at this "of course i did, you're my muse. i've completed two albums dedicated to you now." you answer him and continue playing, trying to find the right notes. "you what?" he asks, unaware of his influence on your creativity. you stop playing at this and stand up to face him. "from the moment i have met you, i have written and composed exactly 47 and a half songs. you are my muse, tom blyth. you occupy my mind at all times. i love you" you confess to him with a grin. "my god, i love you." he captures your lips in a searing kiss. he truly was the king of your heart.

The Only Way of Knowing You [Nick Fowler x Reader]
Title: The Only Way of Knowing You Characters/Pairings: leshy!Nick Fowler x curvy female!Reader Word Count: 7.8k
Summary: When you visit a cabin, you're drawn more and more to the forest, the flora and fauna, and a handsome stranger you cross paths with in the woods.
Content Warnings: explicit smut - nipple play, vaginal fingering, unprotected vaginal intercourse, initial consent to questionable/dubious consent ending, kidnapping, intimidation, implied stalking and explicit stalking, human to monster transformation, monster fucking
Logistical Notes: Very belated, but this is my addition to the Enchanted Birthday Fest and my humble gift to all of you who come around and read what I write. Incorporating Mania (obsessive love - stalking) for @the-slumberparty's Eight Types of Love challenge. Thank you @goldylions and @sgt-seabass for blasting this with your beta energy. It certainly benefitted from your poking, prodding, and polishing.
Narrative Notes: There's a lot of leshy lore that's evolved over time since differing versions existed across Europe and you've got modern media takes. I took pieces that stuck out to me as I combed through. The most significant trait I adopted was that a leshy king could shape shift into human or animal and would adopt disguise to hide, adapt, or even lure people into the forest.

Tumblr media
You gasped and stopped on the trail.
“A dog,” you whispered to no one but yourself, a grin splitting across your face.
The wilderness of the forest around you rose into a small, banked ridge on the left. You had only just heard the rustle of leaves that drew your attention over to that side to see the creature. You couldn’t tell the breed for sure – all dark fur, pointed ears, looking something between a husky and a wolf – but with him being so calm and willing to come this close to the path when he’d undoubtedly heard you walking, you assumed he couldn’t be too wild or feral. He had piercing blue eyes that locked with yours.
You were so tempted to try to call him over, but if he was wild, it was probably better not to, and if he belonged to someone, you didn’t want to lead him away from where he needed to go.
So, after another beat, you continued along your path.
After the four hour drive to your destination with some of the team from your office, as soon as you had unloaded and eaten lunch, you had been eager to get away to stretch your legs and to have some time away from everyone else, and you had some time before the rest of the team arrived for the work retreat your boss had put together. You had six days of training, strategizing, and team bonding ahead of you with a professional consultant and facilitator flown in who had built the agenda. There were breaks built throughout the day, and as you set off for this first walk, you imagined both the physical movement and the time away from the group would help keep you focused, energized, and from actually strangling your co-worker Rachel who regularly burst into song during casual conversation.
You saw the dog again as you took the same path the next day when your group took a mid-morning break. This time, he walked alongside your path, keeping his distance off to the side, but only kept pace with you for about five minutes before wandering off.
You were hopeful to see him when you headed out in the afternoon.
But instead of the dog, you encountered a man in almost the same area, approaching you on the path.
The man was dressed in sturdy hiking boots, dark jeans, a dark green flannel over a white shirt, and a tan jacket over that. He was tall, well-built, with short brown hair, and entirely too handsome a person to encounter in real life, especially with his devastatingly blue eyes – eyes that were the same color as the dog.
You groaned internally for comparing his eyes to the dog’s.
“Hello,” he said, nodding at you a few paces before you were about to pass each other.
“Hello,” you managed to return – it was mostly automatic, but the intensity of his gaze almost prevented you from the customary politeness of fellow trailwalkers.
After he passed, you shook your head. No need to be flustered by the momentary passing of a stranger.
You looked back over your shoulder, and then your heart thudded to discover that he was looking back at you, too. He smirked, turned, and kept along his way.
You shook your head at yourself and then kept on your way.
The walking path through the forest was narrow in parts, wider in others, and rambled on for a mile or so before it split, allowing its travelers to eventually circle clockwise or counter-clockwise around a still, blue body of water that was bigger than a pond but not quite large enough to be classified as a lake. The trees ran right down to the water in many areas, and the path, as it circled, sometimes came very close to its edges, and in other places only came within ten or fifteen meters of the shore.
On day three, you saw the man in the morning, and the dog in the afternoon.
The man, the same you saw before, came towards you after he'd done a circle around the lake. You reached the two forks before having to directly pass him, to which he waved and said hello, the same casual niceties.
In the afternoon, the dog approached you slowly but directly, and you knelt happily and held out your hand to encourage him to close the gap. He did, and after a quick sniff, let you pet him and scratch his ears.
“No collar?” you asked as you pet and admired his smooth, shiny coat.
After a minute, you stood and said, “You seem pretty familiar with this forest, well-fed, and so friendly. I don’t need to worry about you, do I?”
He circled you quickly, wagged his tail, and you laughed. “You want to join me for my walk this time?”
He trotted ahead a few steps, then looked back at you and waited.
You laughed. “I guess I’ll join you for this walk then.”
The two of you kept pace with each other all the way around the small lake, and then shortly after you got back to the main forest length, he trotted off the path into the forest again with only a small look back and a happy bark before bounding away.
That evening, because you had gone on so many walks, the rest of the group at the cabin decided to take an evening stroll around the lake. The planked wooden path made an adventure after dark doable enough. You didn’t see either of the strangers – dog or man – but there were a few times you had the keen sense you were being watched. In the dark it was impossible to tell, but the feeling came and went.
The next morning, you made your way down the deep forest path without encountering anyone and took the right fork to make your way around the lake.
At nearly the same place the dog had approached you the afternoon before, the man came striding your way from off the path.
“Hello,” he greeted as soon as he’d stepped out of the trees.
It was evident he intended to speak to you.
“Hello,” you said, trying to be friendly, but unsure how this would unfold, and a little nervous over engaging with the stranger.
Your heartbeat sped up the closer he got, but not because he was still a stranger, but because you were reminded he was altogether too handsome of a stranger. This was made even more obvious than your brief passings the previous two days, as now you could only stand still and watch as he approached you.
You remembered he was tall, but today he seemed taller. Those blue eyes had you rooted to the spot where you stood, and his face had a small but easy smile. You tried in vain to keep your heart from racing the closer he got.
“I’m Nick,” he offered, once he was close enough for conversation.
You gave your name in response.
“Nice to actually meet you,” he said as he stepped up onto the boardwalk. “You’re not from around here. Staying in one of the vacation cabins?” he guessed.
You nodded. “And you are from around here?” you surmised. “Do you live here? Work here? Both?”
“I suppose you could say both.” A calm but crips breeze swept through the trees around you, rustling through the leaves.
“Oh, are you the caretaker?”
“Guardian, caretaker, king of the forest,” he joked.
You laughed, and it was an easy laugh.
He echoed your laugh. “What, you don’t believe me?”
“No, of course, I do,” you said.
“If you let me join you, maybe I can prove my place here in the forest, share some of the history of the land, and some of my expert knowledge.” He raised his brow in a questioning look.
You were torn equally between hesitance and intrigue, but you were more unsure of how to decline, nor did you actually want to, so you nodded, and the corner of his mouth ticked up. He swept his arm to the side, gesturing at the path, and as you started walking, he fell right in step with you.
“So, what brought you to the forest?” he asked.
You explained how your boss had booked the large corporate retreat cabin for your team, planning many days of bonding and strategy conversations and leadership workshops with the consultant flown in from New York City.
As you walked together, he made good on his promise to tell you more about the forest and the lake. He pointed out some of the flora and fauna, showing his care and consideration for the wildlife and growth of the wilderness.
“It must be nice living out here.”
“You would like it.”
You looked over at him, finding he was already watching you, and then turned your head back to the path. “I think I might. Being out here the past few days has me contemplating quitting my job, selling off most of my stuff, and just finding a small cabin in the woods and writing or something.”
“You should.”His concentrated attention both unnerved you and put you at ease at the same time. It was a strange feeling. There was something within you that wanted more time with him like this, but it was silly to want. This was only your first conversation with him. You wouldn’t be spending day after day stumbling into walks with him any more than you would be abandoning your city life to embrace a secluded existence in a cabin in the forest.
But it might be nice, you thought.
“If only,” you finally sighed.
He was quiet for a moment. Then he cleared his throat. “When are you supposed to leave?”
“The day after tomorrow.”
He hummed in thought. “That seems like an awfully long cabin retreat for a team of colleagues.”
You laughed. “It certainly is. My boss has too much money and got very excited. It’s mostly a good office of people, and there are about ten of us here, but I definitely like my time away from the group – we’ve been encouraged to spend our breaks however we need.”
“And you took to your walks in the woods.”
“Mhmm,” you hummed and smiled softly. “Oh, actually, do you know about the black dog running around out here? I’ve seen him every other day, but not yet today.”
“He caught your heart, didn’t he?”
You grinned and nodded. “Does he have owners out here, or is he wild? He doesn’t have a collar.”
“No owners.”
“Not unlike you?”
“Oh, have I caught your heart, too?”
Your jaw dropped slightly, and you tried not to let your pace falter. “I–”
He gave a chuckle, but he also let his fingers brush against yours as you continued to walk side by side. “Don’t worry, if I didn’t want to see you, I would know how to go unnoticed by you in this forest.”
“Oh.” It was a small response, especially compared to the burst of warmth that bloomed in your heart, but you weren’t quite sure how to respond. You were flattered with the flirting and his insinuation that he did want to see you. A whisper in the back of your mind wondered how many years he must have walked these woods to know its secrets and be so confident that he could wander it undetected, but he gestured for you to listen to the faint call of a pair of birds nearby. He identified them as veery thrushes, and  then you were carried along into learning about them and some of the other animals that inhabited this area of the forest during the rest of your short morning walk.
Nick came across you walking again in the afternoon. He told you more about the forest and its history, but more and more he started to ask more questions about you.
You liked that he asked about you.
It seemed impossible that this unbelievably tall (was he even taller than he was before? Surely he wasn’t), dark, handsome man was so keen on your company, but you couldn’t help but take to him, and to the warmth of the attention he shined on you like the sun that filtered through the leaves of the trees to bathe the rest of the flora in the forest.
It may have been silly to dream about him that night when you went to sleep, but you had no real control over that, and although this whole excursion was for work, a small, inconsequential crush on someone you would never see again when you went home was fine.
The next morning, you didn’t run into him during your walk, but you were happy to run into your furry companion again, and he stayed right at your side while you took the loop around the lake. You were only a little sad there was no sign of Nick, but even though he clearly spent a lot of time there, you couldn’t expect him to always be in the woods.
So, when you were just starting along the path for your walk and hear footsteps coming up behind you, you eagerly looked over your shoulder, only to see two men walking some twenty to thirty yards behind you. You sighed and kept walking. You hadn’t seen a great deal of people on the trail over the past few days, but these weren’t the first strangers, as it was an area with enough scattered cabins throughout the forest to merit the establishment of the sturdy planked path in the first place.
But as you continued on, the men seemed to keep pace with you, speeding up when you did, and slowing down and maintaining some of the distance when you tested it, and that made you nervous. You would feel better even just to see the wild dog so you could call him to you. You were sure he would deter the men. But there was no sign of him either.
As you approached the fork that created the lake loop for the path, you didn’t know which to hope for – that they would take the other path and you would have to potentially pass them, or take the same one as you and you could hope that they would keep their distance.
They went the same way as you.
And they started to close the distance.
You thought you were imagining it at first, but when you increased your pace, theirs quickened even more, and there was no more of the hum of talking between them.
You didn’t want to panic and run. They both had a height advantage with longer legs, and if you could simply continue to walk more quickly, you could at least stave off the need to run until there was no more choice – because you were sure the second you ran, they would follow suit, and you didn’t know how long you’d last.
Especially now that your heart was already racing.
“Hey sweet thing,” one of them called out.
You focused on keeping your quick pace and didn’t look back.
“Nice day for a walk,” the same gruff voice added.
Still you refused to engage. You expected this now and then in the city, but it wasn’t supposed to happen out here. You didn’t have a phone to suddenly get on and call someone or keys in your pocket to thread through your fingers for makeshift protection.
“Nice day for more than a walk, don’t you think?” the second man chimed in.
“Yeah, maybe a little afternoon delight.”
Your skin crawled.
“A little fucking,” the second one jeered.
Maybe you did need to run.
And then suddenly at a bend in the path, you turned and there he was.
Nick.
Your heart leapt in relief, and you rushed to him.
He had to have instantly seen the panic in your eyes as his own blue eyes changed immediately into a dark storm, and he looked beyond you as he quickly strode forward to meet you. He saw the men immediately as they, too, turned around the bend, and you heard their footsteps slow immediately.
Nick pulled you into his side, wrapping a protective arm around you.
“Afternoon,” one of the men said, both of them nodding, trying to pass off casual greetings as if they hadn’t been closing in on you, making their intentions clear.
“Turn around, pack up, and leave this forest,” Nick said, voice flat and threatening.
“Hey! Look, man,” the other started, but Nick cut him off.
“Turn around, pack up,” he repeated, enunciating each word with more fury, “never come back.”
They stopped walking, putting them only ten yards away.
“Now,” Nick growled.
A ripple of fear shot through you at his tone, and it wasn’t directed at you. There was a sudden groaning and crashing of trees in the distance that only added to the tension of the moment, and then the two men turned around and retreated.
“I know where you’re staying. Don’t make the mistake of thinking my directions are idle or that I won’t check to make sure you’re gone,” he spoke loudly enough for them to hear as they got further away.
With them no longer in sight, Nick turned his full attention to you, taking both your hands in his. “You alright?”
You took a deep breath in then let it out to release the tension from the fear-driven adrenaline and nodded.
He murmured your name, pressing in concern, ducking slightly to gaze directly into your eyes.
You smiled softly at his worry, the seeds that bloomed earlier in your heart coming to life and blooming a bit more. “I’m fine now,” you reassured him, giving his hands a gentle squeeze.
He narrowed his eyes.
“Really,” you promised. “Not the first intimidating creeps I’ve ever encountered.”
“Okay.” His face relaxed, but only a fraction, and you had the impression it was only to help ease your tension. “If you’re sure.”
You nodded.
He dropped your hands, and you reminded yourself not to let your face drop as he did.
“Sorry I didn’t meet up with you earlier, I-“
You cut him off, “I wasn’t expecting you to meet up with me, and I don’t always get to steal away for these walks at the same time.”
He nodded. “I know. But I want to show you why time got away from me.”
“Okay.”
His face split into a bright smile. “Follow me,” he said, turning around and trekking into the trees.
You trailed behind him as the ground gently sloped toward the lake. The trees and underbrush were abundant yet thin enough to allow the two of you to pass through. The wooden path varied in how close it was to the lake as it wound around, and here it was less than a minute before you could see the water’s edge. Nick abruptly stopped and put his arm out for you to also stop.
Since he’d been walking so quickly, you did bump right up against his arm with a small mumbled, “sorry,” and he turned his head to smile. Then he turned to look ahead and pointed to a cluster of rocks right at the shoreline.
You squinted to study them, and then you gasped when two little furry heads popped up over the top of the rocks.
“Otters!” you whispered.
“Yes,” Nick confirmed. “Freshwater river otters. I think we’ve got a clan of at least four that have only appeared today in the lake. Probably migrated down the river from the lake further up. They’ve been getting a bigger tourist draw up there, and I imagine they don’t want to be constantly disturbed by humans encroaching on their habitat.”
He took slow, measured, unassuming steps closer, and you tentatively followed. The two otters both perched up higher on the rocks, giving tiny yelps.
Nick motioned for you to kneel as he did. He held out his hand toward the pair of mammals.
“They’re a curious and friendly species,” he said, and even as he said the words, the two darted up and over the rocks, coming closer by a few feet before pausing. The slightly larger one gave a little trill and took a couple more hops forward. Its companion sauntered right up next to it, but then took a few more steps forward, bopped its nose against Nick’s hand, huffed and turned away, darting right down the bank and into the water, gliding smoothly away. The other came forward, gave Nick’s outstretched hand a little more of a sniff, then turned its head to you, and edged your way. You quickly but carefully stretched your hand out, received a couple of sniffs, and then this otter also snorted and trotted away and into the water, trilling as it slipped into the clear water.
“No fish, no interest,” Nick said, and the two of you laughed.
He moved to sit on the ground, and you sat next to him. The pair of otters re-emerged, swam up to shore, and dove back in and out of the water frequently as the two of you watched and talked.
You only stayed there for a short space of time, and then Nick seemed to sense without you needing to prompt him that it was time to get back to your walk. He stood and gave you a hand up. He held onto your fingers for just an extra moment, looking at your hands together, before letting go and brushing himself off. You did the same, and then fell into step with him, heading back to the path.
Easy conversation, just like the day before, continued to flow between you. He appeared to have endless questions about you, and again his rapt attention was its own warm, addictive rush, and that thing in your heart continued to grow, vines starting to sneak out of your heart and around your chest.
Suddenly he stopped, and you stopped another step ahead and turned to look back at him. “What is it?”
“We’re at the spot that leads up to the cabin your group is staying in,” he answered, a broad smirk on his face.
“Oh,” your cheeks heated, and you ducked your head to laugh. “Oops.”
You didn’t want your last walk with him to suddenly be over.
“You’re quite taken with all of this, aren’t you? The forest calls to you.”
You let out a wistful sigh and looked back up at him. Damn those impossibly deep blue eyes. You were overcome with a terrible ache that radiated from the base of your throat and the top of your chest, and you desperately tried to tamp down the thick emotion.
“But I have to go home tomorrow.”
“Come walk with me tonight.”
You bit your lip.
“Come on,” he urged you. “It’s your last night, and it’s a full moon. You have to see the forest bathed in the full moon's light. Come with me.”
“Yes,” you heard the word tumble out of your mouth, unable to deny him.
His eyes darkened and sparkled. “I promise you’ll see things you’ve never seen before.”
Though Nick wasn’t far from your thoughts, you focused well enough on your last evening with the group, engaging in dinner and the evening’s bonding activities. Wine and mocktails were poured for a final night looking up at the stars around a fire in the firepit on the balcony, and you made sure to enjoy that time, too. You had liked some of your coworkers before the retreat, but now you had a better understanding and appreciation for all of them.
However, once it got closer to ten, you anxiously started taking stock of the minutes passing away further into the night. Two of your group said goodnight at ten, but that was too early. You determined you would do well to stay with the balcony group until at least half-ten so you didn’t get too anxious about seeing Nick later.
At ten-thirty, a few more peeled off from the group, and so you retired to your room so that your timely departure didn’t seem unnatural to anyone.
You showered and messed with your hair for a bit but didn’t bother with makeup since it was after dark. You put on your favorite pair of joggers, a crewneck, and good walking shoes. You certainly hadn’t anticipated taking to the forest with so many walks each day, it wasn’t anything like how you were at home – busy with work and taking care of your life in the city – but it had been so natural to take to the outdoors while you were here. This final walk before your party went home in the morning wasn’t going to be like any of the others. You tried not to feel foolish for indulging in a walk at midnight with the hulking man with the most captivating blue eyes you’d ever seen who could easily take your breath away and whisk you off your feet.
But you had said yes because when else would you ever do something like this?
The answer was never.
And there was no harm in taking a handsome man up on his offer for a midnight stroll in the moonlight.
You put on the watch your grandmother had given you and the simple necklace you typically wore. They weren’t much, and you told yourself you didn’t need to dress up anyway, but they were small touches all the same.
Looking briefly in the mirror, you smoothed your hand down over the front of your shirt and took a deep breath. It’s fine, you thought. He’s seen you plenty before now, and it’s going to be dark, and it’s only a walk anyway. You checked your watch, and it was just a few minutes before eleven-thirty, which is when Nick had said to meet him.
You slipped quietly out of your room, down the stairs, and out the back door. The full moon was bright out here so far away from any city lights, illuminating the familiar path from the cabin that would take you down to the main boardwalk trail.
So many times Nick had simply appeared in the forest, but he was waiting for you right at the end of the path. Your heart raced just a little as his lips turned up in a smile.
“Hey,” you said softly.
“You came.”
He studied your face intently. You were unsure what he was looking for and simply focused on returning your gaze as unassuming as possible, telling your heart to settle and stop beating so fast. Yes, he made you feel things, but one of those things over the past few days had also been a sense of calm and safety in his presence, and you concentrated on that.
After another moment, finally, you responded with a simple, “I said I would.”
The corners of his mouth turned up. “Then let’s go.”
You fell easily into step with him, the trail so familiar now, though it had been less than a week, and knowing this ramble down to the lake and back, your chest started to feel thick in anticipation of missing it already. As you walked and talked, you thought you were keeping pace with Nick, but maybe you were more tired than you thought because it seemed like you were working to stay in stride with him as you hadn’t had to before. Either that or his legs were longer than before, but that – of course – was an impossible thought.
You shook your head.
Nick paused and turned. “What are you shaking your head at?” he asked. “I’ve lost you, haven’t I?” His tone was soft and teasing.
“Sorry, I got distracted, and my imagination got a little carried away with impossibilities.”
He cocked his head slightly. “Maybe more is possible in this forest than you might think.” His eyes danced with a hint of mystery.
“Is that so?” You played into his mischief.
He leaned closer. “This is an old forest, and it’s a full moon. Anything could happen on a night like tonight.”
Your body seemed drawn into him, leaning closer as well. “Anything?”
“Anything,” he whispered, and his eyes flicked down to your lips.
The moment hung between you. You tilted your head up, and your eyes fluttered closed. You could feel the warmth of his breath on your face.
And then he tugged on your hand, yanking you out of the moment. “Come on, pretty girl, we’re almost there.”
You sighed, letting out the breath you didn’t know you’d been holding.
But with how tightly his hand held yours as he led you off the boardwalk and into the trees, you didn’t feel too disappointed.
He was quiet now, but he also kept you close as he led you through this part of the forest. The trees were more thickly woven together here, with girthier trunks, and you couldn’t help but feel how they were older the further you wandered in. There was no trace of a path now, but Nick kept a confident pace, clearly knowing each inch of the forest intimately, and his surety allowed you to let yourself be swept away further and further along.
His steps were swift but nearly silent, and you tried to walk as quietly as possible. The sounds of the forest at night were soft but present – soft wind whistling through the trees, the song of nocturnal birds, and the chirping of crickets. The light filtering through the branches was minimal, and it had to be tricking you because you knew he was tall, but it felt like he was somehow taller tonight. It had to be the nature of how you were keeping so close just behind him, focused on the square of his shoulder and the gentle pull of his arm leading you.
He wasn’t taller now than he was earlier today, was he?
“Just up ahead,” he said, looking back over his shoulder at you, one of the easy smiles that made your heart sigh painted on his face.
His pace quickened, and your anticipation built as you hurried to keep up.
Seconds before the tree line broke, you heard the rippling sounds of water before emerging into a glade. Nick stopped a few steps into the clearing, and you came to stand right next to him. The first thing to draw your eye was a stream running into a small pool. The meadow on the side of the stream where you stood sloped gently down to the water, and it was covered in blankets of wood anemone, reaching right down to the bank and springing up and sprawling away again on the other side. The trees surrounding the glade were certainly some of the tallest you’d seen in the forest, and they rose as giant sentinels toward the inky black sky, which was studded with stars around the bright full moon.
As you looked up and around, the coupling of the simplicity and the majesty of it all had you enraptured, and you let out a soft sigh of contentment.
Nick brought your hand up to his face, pressed a kiss to the back of your hand, and your heart stuttered in your chest. You turned to look at him. His eyes almost appeared to glow an even brighter blue.
“I said it earlier, but this forest calls to you, doesn’t it?”
Your brows furrowed.
“Close your eyes,” he said.
You did.
He dropped your hand, and you let it fall to your side.
“Take a deep breath,” he whispered.
You inhaled slowly, letting the breath fill your belly and lungs, fresh, clean, and calm. You tipped your head back, your face craving the moonlight in that moment.
Although you didn’t hear him move, suddenly you felt the warmth of Nick standing behind you. “Now, listen and feel,” he murmured softly in your ear, his breath warm against your skin. You shivered but remained rooted to the spot. His fingers brushed along the backs of your hands and began to trail slowly up your arms. Your whole body was humming at his touch.
He pressed one soft kiss to your neck, and you sighed and let your neck fall to the side. When his hands landed on your shoulders, he pressed another soft kiss at the bottom of your neck, then turned you to face him.
“You should stay with me.”
Before you could respond, he took your head in both his hands, cradling your jaw. He searched your eyes for any hesitancy, but you knew you couldn’t summon any, nor did you want to. Instead, you pushed up on your toes, seeking his lips, and he met you halfway, claiming your lips with his.
Your hands came up to clutch at his wrists as he held your face, and you leaned in, longing to feel your body close to his. His tongue teased at the seam of your mouth, and you let him in, allowing the kiss to deepen, to sear into your very soul. His left hand moved, quickly coming to press at the small of your back, drawing you flush against him. One of your arms wound around his broad chest, and the other came up to mirror how he was cupping your cheek, feeling the trace of stubble along his jaw with your fingers. You stroked his tongue with yours, moaning into the kiss, and he reciprocated stroke for stroke. You quickly became so consumed by his kiss, feeling lightheaded but not sure if it was him or a lack of air, because you couldn’t tell if you were still breathing. It was a fevered kiss driven by something you’d never felt so strongly before, and you needed more.
Nick sank to his knees, and you went naturally down with him. He sat back on his heels, and you followed, perching in his lap. He held you there, your core over his groin, for a delicious moment, and then suddenly he lifted you up and laid you softly but swiftly onto the soft flowery bed of the meadow, his lips never leaving yours. You gasped and giggled against his mouth.
“What a lovely sound,” he said tenderly. He pulled back just enough to look into your eyes, a satisfied grin on his face.
Whether it was smug or sweet, you weren’t sure, and you felt your cheeks growing warm under his hungry gaze and his soft praise.
“I wonder what other lovely sounds I can draw from you,” he added as both of his hands moved to your hips. He began kissing you again, having only given you a moment of reprieve, then his hands slid slowly up your waist, skimming up over your ribs, pushing up the fabric of your sweatshirt. When his thumbs brushed up against the underswell of your breasts, he pressed back and forth a few times, teasing you, drawing a little whimper, before he let his thumbs run up and over your nipples. They were both peaked, and you shivered in pleasure, the teasing through the fabric of your bra its own unique sensation, but you were eager for more, so you moved your hands to begin quickly unbuttoning his flannel. He took the hint, helping you by shrugging off his jacket, and when he leaned up for a moment to pull off his flannel and remove the t-shirt he had on beneath it, so you shifted beneath him to pull off your sweatshirt and reach for the clasp of your bra, tossing that to the side as well.
You hadn’t hesitated to rid yourself of your clothes, but you were hit with the rush of baring your chest to him now as – with his own clothing discarded – he froze and looked down at you from above. You flushed with heat, but as you moved one hand to tentatively cover yourself, he grabbed it in his, drew it up to his mouth, and kissed your palm.
You were aware of every imperfection as his eyes roved over your body, but when he looked into your eyes and said, “gorgeous,” his face was so serious, so hungry, you didn’t question that he meant it.
He lowered himself back down over you, supporting himself by planting one forearm on the ground next to your side, and this time his lips sought your chest. He kissed down your sternum, then took one breast in his mouth, and palmed the other with his free hand. You moaned as he sucked one nipple and rolled and teased the other with his fingers. You arched beneath him, your body responsive to his diligent ministrations. He switched to the other breast, flicking his tongue over the nipple before lapping and sucking at it. You hadn’t cum before from nipple play alone, but he had you wondering if you might as the pleasure mounted.
You trembled and whimpered beneath him, and as you began to writhe more desperately, he took his mouth off your breast with an audible pop. He moved back up your body, and his hand cupped your face again, his thumb brushing the apple of your cheek, urging you to open your eyes and look at him.
“Tell me you never thought about it, about staying here with me after I left you earlier today,” he said.
You were already breathless, or else the powerful drive in his deep blue eyes would have stolen your breath once again.
“You must let me have you,” he implored.
You couldn’t answer, but only because you were overcome by the desire in his eyes. For you.
Your name fell from his lips, and his voice was soft, deep, and controlled, but you could still feel the edge of the desperate plea as he uttered your name.
“Yes,” you keened, and you rocked your hips up against his.
“Say the words,” he said. “Say my name and tell me I can have you.”
He slipped his hand down, hooked two fingers into your waistband, and pulled teasingly along the edge from your hip to just below your navel. The torturous movement along your soft skin only drove the hunger that was building for more.
He had to know how he was mounting and playing with the anticipation. But if he needed you to say it, you’d say anything to get what you wanted right now under the light of the full moon from this inimitable figure of a man, nearly unreal in his beauty.
“Nick, you can have me!” You cried.
He wasted no time in pulling your trousers and underwear down in one go. You tried to kick off your shoes, but slightly struggling to do so, his hands helped remove your shoes and socks more deftly, and he was able to more easily toss it all away. And as your legs settled back down on either side of him as he knelt above you, you realized he was suddenly somehow as naked as you – though you didn’t know how he managed that so quickly, so quickly it felt like magic. Everything about tonight felt illusory, and yet it was all tangible and indisputable, and you gave yourself over to it. When else would you ever find yourself in such an enchanted set of circumstances like this ever again?
So what if it felt like a dream?
You took a deep breath and let your fingers tangle in the grass and the stems of the wood anemone. Your eyes traveled up his thighs to a cock so thick and long and hard for you, then up further, over his hips, defined abs, chiseled chest, and broad shoulders, and you whined. Every inch of him ignited heat through your body, and when your eyes met his again, your pulse stuttered.
You could dream like this for one night.
Keeping his eyes locked on yours, Nick settled back on his haunches and pulled your thighs up over his, drawing you up over him, angling your lower half up as an offering, and his piercing cerulean gaze moved to your core, fully on display. His fingers brushed over your lower stomach, the touch so light it tickled, and you jerked, but his other hand held your hip firmly in place. His fingers parted your folds without hesitation, and he licked his lips.
“Such a pretty, wet cunt, my little nymph,” he said, and you felt both shy being so exposed to him, and desperate for him.
“Nymph?” you couldn’t help but question, surprised by the pet name.
“Mhmm,” Nick hummed. He traced your wet folds with one finger, in no rush. “You belong to this forest.” He spread your wetness along those lips with the attention of an artist to his canvas. Then he slipped two fingers inside your cunt.
You gasped, and your eyes fluttered closed.
He pushed them all the way in, then gave a few slow, shallow thrusts in and out.
You never wanted to wake up from this, but you needed more.
“Nick, please!”
He withdrew his fingers and then pressed them to your lips. “Taste your sweet nectar, nymph.”
The digits easily slipped into your mouth, and the urge to suck was a near primal reaction. He applied gentle pressure on your tongue as you sucked, and it only drove the craving in your core further. You were entirely lucid, and yet you felt thoroughly intoxicated by him, by everything around you.
“Open your eyes,” he said, and you did.
You swore he could see into your soul when he looked at you so intensely, but rather than fear, it soothed your nerves. It also more deeply stoked your desire for him, and as much as you wanted to linger in this moment, there was an undeniable pull you couldn’t ignore.
“Kiss me,” you breathed.
He shifted to lean down over you, remaining rooted between your thighs but shifting forward so you were nearly chest to chest. He bore his weight on his forearms, caging you in. As he settled, lips only a breath away from you, you felt the weight of his large, thick cock rest on your stomach. You lifted your head to pull him into the kiss you wanted. You ached for him to fill you up, but you also wanted to give everything just to this kiss for a few beats longer.
It was like he was drinking you in. One of your arms came up around his back, the other brushed up along the side of his arm, seeking and ultimately finding his hand, and your fingers instinctively entwined together.
He moved his other hand down briefly to guide the head of his cock to your weeping hole, and you gave a little moan into his mouth as his head entered you.
As he seated his cock fully inside of you, the tip nudging your cervix, you had to break off your kiss to concentrate on breathing. Nick dropped his forehead to yours, seemingly unable to refuse some form of intimate closeness as he rocked into you again. “You can feel it,” he spoke, the warmth of his breath still close to your mouth.
“Yes,” you panted. Your legs wrapped around his torso. He resumed thrusting, slow, deep thrusts.
“I can feel it, too,” he murmured along your jaw. “You’re answering the call of the forest.”
“Mhmm,” you hummed, hardly focused on what he was saying, but the deep warmth of his voice made the words swell through your mind.
He continued his unhurried thrusts, almost methodical in nature, and after a few more minutes, his cock began to swell inside you. And it continued to grow.
You moaned – or groaned – you couldn’t decipher if what you were feeling was real and whether it was painful or pure ecstasy. Your hand clasped his more tightly, and his answering squeeze was accompanied by tendrils of vines sprouting and circling around your hand and down around your wrist.
“What?” Your eyes flew open, and then you gasped. “Nick!”
He was transforming before your eyes. His face remained familiar, but a crown of horns appeared around his head, and emerald moss and glossy leaves intermingled and sprouted throughout his dark hair. Two enormous, magnificent antlers had emerged from his temple and were still slowly growing, just as he was still slowly growing inside you as he continued his steady thrusts. His shoulders broadened, and you knew he was growing in stature.
You trembled beneath him, tears springing to your eyes, in danger of spilling over.
“I told you, my little nymph: I’m the king and guardian of this forest – it speaks to me like it wants to speak to you. You’re answering the call, and I can’t,” he paused to groan, and with a shiver, you felt the ridge of his spine shift from skin to a supple tree bark. “It’s midnight, and with you giving yourself to me and the forest, I can’t hold back my true form.”
He began to thrust more quickly in and out of your cunt, a few of the strokes a little erratic. You whimpered, overwhelmed, and a few tears spilled over your cheeks.
“No, none of that,” he scolded, but kissed away the tears. “You didn’t want to leave, and now you don’t have to, nor can you.”
His free hand moved between you and found your pulsing, puffy clit, applying immediate, furious little circles that refused to let you feel anything but pleasure in response to his ministrations. His lips reclaimed yours once again, and as your body continued to tremble, his thrusts sped up even more, your channel never more full, making the mounting wave of pain and pleasure so exquisite as the waves grew that you let out a sob as your orgasm crashed over you.
Unrelenting, as your cunt contracted around him, Nick more demandingly sought his own release. He moved both hands to grip your ribs below your wrists and railed into you with abandon, punching the air from your lungs over and over, and ultimately pushing you into a rushed second orgasm only seconds before he roared his own ecstasy, his hips stuttering as he spilled deep loads of his seed inside of you, a warmth you could feel permeating you.
And then Nick petted your face, showering kisses softly over your lips, cheeks, and eyelids before ultimately resting his forehead on yours, and gently caressing your neck.
“You don’t know how long I’ve waited for you, for this, and now you're mine forever.”

You flushed and slid downwards, you just puked for the billionth time this week. You can't wait until that part of your pregnancy is over. You heard a soft knock on the bathroom door. "Yn? Are you okay?”
It was your boyfriend, Jason. He has no idea you were pregnant and you didn't want him to find out. You were in Iraq for the past year together looking for Saddam’s chemical weapons. You knew that if he knew you were pregnant, he would let you do nothing and you would have to listen to him because he was higher up than you.
You got off the floor, walked over to the door, opened it up and smiled at your boyfriend. “Yeah, I’m fine. Why?”
“Maybe cause you looked like you were going to throw up and then you rushed here,”
“I did get sick but I’m fine. Just something I ate probably,”
You began to walk ahead of him, but he grabbed your arm gently. “Are you sure?”
“Jase, I promise you. I’m okay,”
You walked out of the barracks and into the hallway where you saw Nick going into Rachel’s office. You didn’t think too much of it, Nick was always her second hand. You overheard Jason walking towards you and he put his hand over your lower back. “I just wanted to make sure,”
You pecked his lips and smiled. “I know and I love you for it,”
“Aren’t you supposed to be meeting that satellite guy?”
“Yeah, I was on the way there when I saw you running into there,”
“Oh…well like I said I’m fine. Go,”
He leaned down and kissed you. “Alright, I’m going. I’m going. I love you,”
“I love you,”
-
“Me? Annoying? Impossible,”
You sat on the table and made a mockery of Joey. “Since birth, I presume,”
“Ow! That hurt me! That really hurt me,”
“Damn Joey! That got you sitting behind a desk? You want me to make a call?”
Your eyes turned to Jason when he entered the room.
“Nah, I’m good. People who sit behind desks don’t tend to catch so many bullets, you know?”
“Wus,”
Joey reaches over and knocks you off the table but you were quick enough to regain your balance. You laughed when you noticed two figures standing behind Jason, but Joey spoke before you did. “So this must be the one and only satellite guy?”
The guy chuckled. “The one and only satellite guy. I’m Eirc King. Lieutenant Colonel Eric King,”
Joey stood up in his chair and you held back the laughter while you watched. “Colonel, this is Joey. He is our lance corporal. Give the colonel full site access,”
Joey grabs the thing that allows Eric access to the site. Jason nodded over at you.. “This here is Yn Yln. She's an archeologist who's familiar with the area.  Just a tip, never make her angry. It’s not fun,”
You let out a laugh. “I think Merwin has been the only one that has ever pissed me off,”
Jason smiled at you before walking a little bit away from us. “I’m telling you when the Queen Bitch finds out about this. She’s gonna flip her shit,”
Eric didn't look entertained. “Rachel and I uh we knew each other. She’ll understand all’s fair in love and war,”
Jason stared at Eric just seconds before he looked at you and you shrugged your shoulders. Eric said nothing more. The girl who was traveling with him stared at Jason. “Uh the Queen Bitch, you’re referring to is his wife,”
Jason's eyes go wide and he puts his hand up in defense as Eric stepped deeper into the room and was followed by this girl. You watched Jason with amused eyes. “Shut up, yn,”
“Nice going, babe,”
Jason shook his head and followed them into the briefing room. “Sir, I am so sorry. Rachel never said she was married,”
Eric didn't seem to mind. “We’ve been working apart this last year. So she’s the Queen Bitch now? She’s gone up in the world,”
You saw Jason’s lips turn into his famous smirk before quickly disappearing. “If it helps, we like to think of it as a term of endearment,”
You sat at a table while you watched Jason talk to that girl. “Right, let’s get you set up,”
“I hope the bandwidth can cope with the data,”
“I’ll leave the techy stuff to you,”
“I’ll leave the heavy lifting to you,”
You got a little suspicious. The way Jason said it was friendly, but the way that girl said it was kind of flirty. She should tread carefully around him.
“We got a deal, lady,”
“What is this place anyways? Looks like an old ballroom,”
“That is exactly what it is. I guess Saddam liked to get down on the dancefloor,”
“Do you think if his dance partner stepped on his foot, it’d be an instant ‘off with her head’?”
Jason laughed at it. “It wouldn’t surprise me,”
You felt jealousy growing inside you. You wanted to smack this girl so hard right now. You wouldn't let something like that bother you in the past, but those pregnant hormones kick your ass.
“Maybe when we’re done, I’ll you you spin me around a little,”
You laughed and you stood up from the table, Jason's eyes went right at you and knew you were upset. “Yn,”
You went to Jason, you got his shirt and you pulled him down to kiss him. When you pulled away from him, you looked at the girl and grabbed his hand and pulled him away from her. Once you were far enough away from the girl, you turned around and looked at him. “What the hell was that?”
“What was what?”
"She was flirting with you and you made no effort to stop her,"
“What are you talking about? She wasn’t flirting with me,”
“Maybe, when we’re done, I’ll let you spin me around a bit’? Really? Jason? Really? You seriously can’t be that oblivious,”
"I couldn't care less if she flirted with me. I have you. I don't have eyes for anyone but you,"
This in no way changes the fact that YOU let her flirt with you. You should have stopped it at "I'll give you the heavy lifting".
“That was not flirtatious. You’re acting really insecure right now,”
That pissed you off beyond belief you really can't wait to get this pregnancy over with, you don't know if you could handle these increased hormones.
You let out a scoff.  "Keep fucking with me and see what happens,”
-
You have been instructed to stay with Nick while Rachel, Eric and Jason visit the huts to speak with the residents. You were standing outside at the hut that Jason and the others were in. You haven't spoken with Jason since he called you insecure. “Have you told Jason yet?”
In confusion, you glanced over at Nick. “Told Jason what?”
“That you’re pregnant,”
Your heart started racing. How does Nick know about your pregnancy? You never mentioned that to anyone. "I don't know what you're referring to,"
“Don’t lie Yn,”
"How did you find out?"
“Holy shit. You actually are? That was just a guess,”
“How did you guess that?”
“I don’t know. I just noticed things. Things like this past week you were constantly getting sick. Your mood swings. You're upset with Jason today over Clarice. You're usually calm and collected about Jason, but not today, so I just put two and two together,"
“No, I haven’t told Jason,”
“Do you know how far along you are?”
“No. It's hard to see a doctor right now, but at least eight nine weeks? That typically when morning sickness starts,”
“You need to tell him,”
“Yeah, well, I’m not in the mood to talk to him right now,”
You heard a loud explosion and you looked up and saw that one of the helios was on fire and falling, then gunshots. Nick grabbed you and pushed you behind a stone fence to keep you out of the gunfire. “Stay hidden,”
“Nick, I can handle this,”
"I know you can, but you're actually pregnant and I'm not gonna have Jason mad at me for not making sure you're safe,"
"That's exactly the reason, I hadn't told Jason,"
“Just listen to me, okay?”
You blew your breath and nodded your head. “Fine,”
You stayed hidden behind the stone fence as you kept listening to gunfire and yelling. You could hear Jason and Nick yelling but couldn’t make it out. You felt the ground shake, and then you saw Nick come out of the blue. He caught you and wrapped his arms around your stomach to shield you and the baby as much as he could.
You had no idea how long you fell, but thanks to Nick, he took every hit and landing. He didn’t let you go until he was certain you were done falling. After a few seconds, he let you go and you quickly left him and helped him get back on his feet. “Are you okay, Nick?”
“Forget me, are you okay?”
“Thanks to you,”
Nick pushed you behind him as he scooped out the area. “Merwin?”
Merwin didn’t answer.
“Jason!” You called out.
He didn’t answer.
You called the others, but they didn't respond. You took out the flare from Nick’s backpack, broke it, and threw it as far as you could and it lit up the area. “Come on, let’s find the others,”
You let Nick get ahead of you and you followed him. You followed Nick into that hallway. You were still calling out for the others. “Nick?”
“Jason? I’m close man, I’m coming,”
“Don’t blow your load too fast buddy. Is Yn with you?”
“I’m here Jase,”
“Oh thank God,”
You and Nick rounded a corner and saw something quickly move out of the light which made you jump. “What the fuck was that?”
“I don’t know but stay behind me,”
“No protest there,”
You and Nick slowly walked down the passage and when the light shined on whatever the creature was it popped its head up and then ran away. You two continued down the passageway but you two took another way. When you turned the other way, you saw a giant hand statue. “What the fuck is this place?”
Nick jumped off a ledge to go to the next room. He placed the gun in his hand in the holster. “Climb down, I got you,”
You slowly descended and as soon as Nick was able to get to you, he helped you down the rest of the way. “Thank you…again,”
You and Nick looked at that hand statue when a light shone on you. “Is that you Nicky?”
“Jason?”
Jason quickly put the gun in his holder as you took off after him and held onto him as tight as you could. He did the same thing. “I’m sorry for the way I reacted earlier,”
“No. Don’t apologize. It’s okay. All that matter is that you’re safe,”
"Thanks to Nick, he made sure to shield me from each blow on the way down and then he was the one who broke the fall,"
Jason kissed you then when he pulled away, he walked over and did their broshake. “Thanks, man. I owe you,”
“You don’t,”
Jason took a small step back to check out the area you were all in. “What on God’s green Earth have landed? We need to get back topside, reground with the rest of the squad and signal for medivac. This place ain’t no weapons silo but it’s sure as fuck crawling with Iraqis,”
Jason taking control like this was always a turn on for you. He always knew what to do, even when he was unaware of what was happening. “You good babe?”
“I’m good,”
Jason looked at Nick and he seemed lost. “Nick? Nick! Sergeant Kay! Pull yourself together. Eyes wide!”
“All good. Just wasn’t expecting to suddenly fall into the fucking earth,”
“I hear ya,”
Jason took the gun out of the holster and pointed it in front of him which made you lose grip on his arm. He got ahead of you, you were in the middle, and Nick was behind you. “You ever seen anything like this? The hell is this place?”
"I haven't and I am an archaeologist."
“Pass. I flunked History at school,”
You let out a chuckle. "No surprise in that, Sergeant Kay,"
For a few minutes before Nick talked,
you walked silently. “Tell me you can’t feel
it,”
“Feel what, Nick?”
“I don’t know, something,”
“I don’t feel shit,”
“I agree with Jason,”
“You sure about that?”
“I’m pretty sure,”
You three walked for a while before you came across a door that was shut, Nick walked up to it and tried to push it open but he couldn’t. “This thing is heavier than it looks. Gimme a hand. I’m gonna need some more muscle,”
Jason nodded and walked up to the door. “You skipping gym again?”
As soon as the boys opened the door, you heard a loud groan. You quickly got close to them and watched the two boys. “Is that?”
“It’s Merwin, come on,”
The three of you entered the room and saw Clarice trying to keep him still but Merwin swayed. As Merwin had become entangled in wires that were digging into his skin, he was bleeding profusely. “It’s bad. He’s bleeding out, we have to cut him down right now,”
“No shit, Clarice,”
Ignoring you, Jason grabbed his pocket knife and walked over to Merwin. “Hold tight, buddy. Nick, I need you here,”
“Cut the wires,”
Nick walked behind Merwin and held him still and Jason cut the wires that had him trapped. Once Jason cut the last thread, Merwin landed on the ground. Jason and Nick quickly ran to him and knelt to evaluate his injuries. “Oh, he’s fucked. He’s so fucked!”
“You think I can’t hear you,” Merwin grunted out.
Jason grabbed both of Merwin’s shoulders. “You’re gonna pull through, brother. Suck it up,”
“There's morphine in my pack, grab it. We're gonna pump you up, okay?”
After nodding, Jason searched Nick's bag for the Morphine. Clarice was impatient. “Hurry the hell up,”
“They got this, you screaming at them, doesn’t help,”
“Just keep an eye out,” Nick said.
“Who the hell loaded these packs?”
As Nick and Jason watched Clarice, she was sucked into darkness.
