Back into making dice with some corn snake insert dice! (Yes, theyll be balanced. The only thing that can actually make a really visible difference for balance is air bubbles and metal. Everything else is insignificant.)
Oiled and polished! Mixed media Mjolnir in stone, resin, and red cedar. Might add some carving to the top - not sure yet. I need more practice before I try so I'll be putting this one to the side
#GALAXYRESIN #RAINBOW style! 😊 I tried a new brand of resin & new techniques last night...& things got a lil hairy 😬 Resin everywhere, & a couple of mini fails, but I looove these #bookmarks !
Nice & sunny, colorful cuties! This video didn't do them justice. The resin I used was so runny & thin... I'm used to a much thicker viscosity, man. & I'm not used to using the alcohol ink, either... but I really wanted translucent colors. I think they're gorgeous, but I'm definitely trying again. Hurrah for the prototype batch, tho 🤷🏾♀️
FULL VIDEO COMING SOON which will answer all questions. If you are impatient, please check out this video which is a full tutorial of the same technique with different colors https://youtu.be/y9ioIrHSjNk?si=HU0aen0GyCW2cEIZ Materials used: Mixed Media Girl Artist Resin https://mixedmediagirl.com/product/artist-resin-for-epoxy-resin-art-by-mixed-media-girl/ Pinata and Ranger Alcohol Inks https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IQA5AT6?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmixedm03-20&creativeASIN=B01IQA5AT6&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.2LG19YLV5DVGO&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_d_asin Silicone mold https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JYS8D3K?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmixedm03-20&creativeASIN=B08JYS8D3K&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.M6O88JZASTU5&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin 100-ounce plastic bowl https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QRGK56R?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmixedm03-20&creativeASIN=B08QRGK56R&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.2LG19YLV5DVGO&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin
The making, breaking, and remaking of my valknut. Between pictures 2 and 3 was a first try repair with gold mica flakes in resin, plus a clear coat. I did not like the look. The gold looked like cheap plastic and the clear coat smoothed over the natural texture of the stone. It felt like holding a toy. I absolutely hated it so I stripped it all off and started over. I built the emerald resin and veins of glow pigment in layers curing each layer. I would later use this same process on my steampunk bolo tie and the blue glow mjolnir. I was super happy with the final result on this valknut and it is my favorite stone carving so far, which is wild because it was also my first.
