Y’all need to look up the meaning of satire and trope cuz this is ridiculous 😭. The American Society of Magical Negroes is a satirical film about the magical negro trope often used in media. Satire means that it will be making fun of the trope and even criticizing it. These types of movies/books usually only have one Black character and it often requires said Black character to do heavy lifting for the white character(s). It’s literally what happened in Ghost with Whoopi Goldberg. As much as we might like the movie it’s true. I also have a post about Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa and that trope goes crazy in that book. The Black character most likely will be portrayed to be stereotypical or 50/50 wind up dying, teaching the white character some sort of lesson, and then being forgotten until it’s convenient or completely while the white MC gets some sort of power up and their arc is completed. I promise it’s not gonna hurt you to laugh at how stupid it is. I’m also pretty sure Key & Peele had a skit about this.

Callie, I love you. I’ve loved from the beginning. And I will love you long after the last star dies. I will love you until the end of darkness itself.

Mountains may rise and fall, and the sun might wither away, and the sea claim the land and swallow the sky. But you will always be mine. And the stars might fall from the heavens, and night might cloak the earth, but until darkness dies, I will always be yours.

✩🦇📿Review:
“Rhapsodic” is the perfect cure for any type of book hangover. Holy cow. I am just obsessed with this paranormal romance!
“Rhapsodic” tells the story of Callypso (Callie) Lillis, a powerful siren and badass private investigator who once made 322 deals with the Bargainer in her youth. A black bracelet beads up her wrist, serving as a reminder of all that she owes the fae king of the night. For the last seven years, however, he has not come to collect his magical IOUs. Until now. A dark presence looms over the Otherworld. Fae warriors have begun to disappear without a trace and the Bargainer needs Callie’s help to solve the mystery.
Thalassa’s book is wholly unique and like nothing I have ever read before, which is why its was so easy to fall in love with her characters and the world she created! I especially liked how each chapter begins with a flashback before transporting us to the present. This way, we do not get the whole picture right away and instead have to read the whole book to find out why the Bargainer never sought Callie out for repayment.
I really enjoyed reading from Callie’s perspective, even though I got teary eyed at times. As a young adult, Callie suffered her father’s physical and verbal abuse after her mother was killed. Though she has been through a lot, she makes it clear that she is no one’s victim.
The Bargainer recognizes this, giving her the space she needs to be independent despite his possessive and protective nature. His determination to rekindle his friendship with Callie after seven years and develop it into something more had me immediately under his spell.
I must admit that things were slow moving for the first 200 or so pages while Thalassa engaged in world-building surrounding the differences between the Otherworld (home to the fae and separated into the Kingdoms of Night, Day, Flora, Fauna, Death and Deep Earth, and Mar) and Earth (home to sirens, shifters, seers, and humans). However, once I became familiar with the world, I could not get enough of the storyline.

As I’m getting towards the end of this, I found myself getting a bit sad. I love the development between Callie and Desmond, the slow burn and tension what pretty off the charts! It’s nice to read about a strong heroine but she can still feel human (even though she is a siren). Despite the trauma, she finds comfort in Desmond, who struggles with his own demons.
I’m thinking about starting Fourth Wing as well as Silver Under Nightfall, two books that I’ve really wanted to read. I definitely want to continue with Seven Days in June(Lord help me for) but I’m a sucker for dark romance. Anyone have any favorite genres they like to read?

★ Let’s do a special edition this or that: - Stenciled edges or slip case? - Bonus content or signed by the author? - Special end papers or reversible dust jacket? - Character art in the book or foil embossing? Can I have all of the above? 🤣 Really, I think my answers would be stenciled edges, signed (such a hard choice), end papers, and character art! Ask me next week and my answers will probably be different. Love this special edition set of @laurathalassa’s Bargainer series. This has been one of my all time favorite series for years and is one of the series I discovered bookstagram through! ★ HASHTAGS //    #fantasyromance #romantasy #thebargainerseries #laurathalassa #thebookishbox #rhapsodic #astrangehymm #darkharmony #spicybooks #smuttybooks #faefolk #bookswithfae #fantasybooks #bookstagram #bookstack #booksofinsta  #booksbooksbooks #bookcommunity #igreads #booksuggestions #favoritebooks #fortheloveofbooks #bookishlife https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf5HHmzpbpW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“Hegyek emelkedhetnek és törlődhetnek el a föld színéről, a nap fénye kihunyhat, a tenger beboríthatja a földet, és elnyelheti az eget. De te örökre az enyém leszel.
És a csillagok is aláhullhatnak az égből, az éjszaka beboríthatja a földet, de amíg a sötétség el nem hal, én örökre a tiéd leszek.”

Books I‘ve read in August 2022
Spoiler Alert: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- this has been a reread. This book is the one that got me into reading. I‘ve never been a big reader but this book unlocked something in me. Since then i read about 5 to 6 books in a month.
- i enjoy a plus-size heroine. Marcus is part of a TV-show and April writes Fanfiction about said show. They go on a date and fall in love.
- One of my favourite part are all the GoT hints. It‘s so funny.
- the first time around i gave this book 5 stars during my reread i noticed a few things that made me rate it 4 stars this time around. I still enjoyed it and will proably gonna read it again in the future.
Hotel Magnifique: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- this one was bit different from most fantasy books i have read this year.
- this hotel can travel around the world and collects employees and guests.
- the magic is intressting and from time to time complex. I enjoyed it. The end is a bit open and i normally don‘t like that but i didn‘t mind with this book.
Rhapsodic: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
- there are people who love this book and the series but i‘m not one of them. The mystery is good, i enjoyed it but overall it just didn‘t do it for me.
- one thing i really REALLY hated was the overuse of the word „bitch“. The FMC best friend uses the word „bitch“ all the time. When i say all the time. I MEAN ALL THE TIME. She answers the phone like that. She calles her friend that. Ohh it annoyed me so much.
- there was also a lot of SA and i just don‘t like that. I know in other Series SA is part of the story but it was not glanced over that easily. That did strike me as weird.
Throttled: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- first book in the dirty-air series.
- i have read Collided before i read this one. I think that was good because if i‘vre read it the other way around Collided would have gotten a lower rating. Maya and Noah are superior.
- he is a dick and behaves horribly in the beginning but you can see him fall hard for Maya.
- one thing i hate in romance books is the third act breakup. But in this book there is no third act breakup. I LOVED THAT SO MUCH!!
Window Shopping: ⭐️⭐️
- I love Tessa Bailey but this book has not been it for me.
- it had potential but i didn‘t enjoy it as much as other books.
A League of Gentlewoman Witches: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- I‘m a master in reading Series in the wring order. I did it again with this one. Because it is a stand-alone series it‘s not a big deal but yeah it kind of is typical for me. 🙈
- the story takes place in kind if oldy times in London. Alex is a oirate and he flys a fucking house. A battlehouse. Who comes up with that? That is brilliant!! Charlotte is a witch how highjacks Alex battlehouse.
- the two have absolute fantastic banter. They go on an adventure and it is glorious.
- the end was perfect and i loved it so much.
- in the beginning of each chapter there were some keywords for the chapter and sometimes it was very clear what they meant and sometimes they were twisted. That was such a nice touch i enjoyed it immensely.

✩🌑⚔️Review:
THIS. NOVELLA. IS. EVERYTHING. We FINALLY get to read from Des’ point-of-view and the wait was certainly worth it!
Thalassa shares snippets of Des’ life, ranging from his childhood to the events leading up to “Dark Harmony.” Through Des, the reader is also able to piece together his mother Larissa’s past. We learn of the sacrifices she made for her son, making her death all the more devastating and impactful. The loss Des experiences fuels his anger, motivates him to exact his revenge, and sheds light on the choices Des makes later in life.
My heart nearly burst at the seams after discovering that Des knew that Callie existed before actually meeting her. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about this time in his life—a time when he swore off falling in love, but could not deny the strong feelings that developed as soon as Callie called upon his services as the Bargainer. Thalassa perfectly captures the exact moment Des realizes that he is in love and I savored every interaction with Callie written from his perspective thereafter.
My heart felt so full only to be shattered once Callie’s final wish separated the two of them. Though painful, knowing how Des spent his seven years parted from Callie answered a lot of my lingering questions from the previous two books.
While this novella does not come close to telling Des’ whole life story, Thalassa cleverly highlights the most important moments in his past that helps us finally understand why he is the way he is. For that reason, “The Emperor of Evening Stars” is a necessary read for fans of “The Bargainer” series!
