Mini Fanfic #1117: The Bear of Kyoukgen Arts (KOF X Art of Fighting)

2:56 p.m. in the Sarah Forest..........

Marco: (Takes a Very Deep Breath of his Outdoor Surroundings) Sarah Forest......One of mother nature's finest creations in all it's majestic. I never thought i would ever come back here. (Opens his Arms Wide Open) BUT HERE I AM! (Hears the Sound of his Voice Echoing Through the Forest Before Forming a Bright, Cheeky Grin on his Face)

Yuri: (Giggles Softly as She and Robert Follows Behind Marco) I can see why you like coming here. It's so nice and peaceful out here.

Robert: (Too Busy Swatting All the Bugs Away From Him) Sí. Can't say the same for these mosquitoes......They annoying little stronzi- Ack! (Suddenly Gets Knocked Down to the Muddy Ground) Ow. ('Sigh') And now my $1000.00 cargo shorts is dirt. (Places his Habd on the Side of his Cheek) Great. Any idea why we took an abrupt stop there, big guy?

Yuri: (Frowns a Bit in Worry) Yeah, Marco, what's wrong?

Marco: (Looks Around in a Suspicious Manner) Try not to panic, but.....I think we're being followed right now?

Robert: (Quickly Gets Back Up on his Feet) Followed!? By who-

Robert quickly shuts himself up as the roaring, animal sound is heard in the Sarah Forest. It didn't take long for him and Yuri to hiding behind a seemingly unfazed Marco as they see bear, wearing torn up, sleeve less gi, standing in front of them, growling with anger in his eyes.

Robert: (Shaking in Fear) W-W-W-Was that bear following us t-t-this whole time?

Yuri: M-Maybe? P-Probably?.....Indefinitely.......

The bear's growl starts getting more louder.

Yuri: (Puts on a Panic Yet Very Hopeful Smile on her Face) B-B-But it's gonna be okay! (Quickly Pulls Out her Mini Book From her Pocket and Quickly Reads Through it) According to this Camping Guide, all we have to do is keep standing here, make no sudden movements for at least 30-45 seconds, and- (Eyes Begins to Widened as She Sees Marco Running Forward) Marco, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?

Robert: GET BACK HERE!!!

Woth echoing battle cries from both sides, Marco and the bear rushes towards one another to deliver their fists directly towards their respective faces before jumping a few inches back. As they stare at each other for a few seconds later, they rush back and fiercely fight one another as if they're in a KOF ring and that their lives are on the line.

While that's happening, the couple, Robert and Yuri, watches it all play out with surprise and disbelief written all over both of their faces

Yuri: Robert.

Robert: Yes, Yuri?

Yuri: Wha.....(Extends her Arms Out at the Fight Scene in Front of her) What exactly am I even looking at right now?

Robert: This might be both us seeing things, but i think that bear just challenged Marco to a fight.(Leans Forward and Takes a Look at the Bear in Question) Wait, Is that our Kyoukgen Gi he's wearing right now-

Robert shrieks as he quickly and jumps onto Yuri's arms from a blue fireball flying by, knocking down a nearby tree with one hit, much to the heir of Garcia family's even more surprise.

Robert: ......And did he use a FREAKING KO-OU KEN just now!?

Yuri: It's not just that. (Shakingly Points Robert to What's Happening I'm Front of Them)

The Bear mimics and clashes with Marco's rising uppercut similar that to a.....

Robert: Kohou. He's doing a kohou- THAT BEAR DID A LITERAL KOHOU FIST JUST NOW!! THE FUCK!!!

Yuri: I know bears can be talented in some cases, but this is getting ridiculous!

The Bear then sends Marco flying to back to the shrieking duo with a kick to the chest.

'Thud'

Marco: (Gets Himself Back Up From the While Panting) I'll admit.....I was....not expecting this turn of events.....to happen so soon.....(Uses his Knuckle to Wipe the Blood Off From the Side of his Lips as Forms an Impressed Smirk on his Face) Not that I mind it, of course.

Robert: (Chuckles Awkwardly) Hey Marco, il mio amico vecchio amico!~ We're glad you're doing swell out there, but uh.....(Comically Glares at Marco) Who is that bear and why does he knows HALF of Kyoukgen Style techniques!?

Yuri: And why is he wearing one of our old gis!?

Marco: (Turns to the Couple Behind) I'll explain everything once this is all over. (Turbs Back to the Bear in Front of Him) In the meantime, leave this one to me! (Rushes Back Towards the Bear)

Yuri: NO! MARCO!!!

Robert: TORNA QUI, DANNAZIONE!!

Round two has just begun as the two unusual combatants rushes back and delivers every bit of attacks they can dish out to one another while parrying and countering each of them.as quickly as possible.

It didn't take long for them to punch each other in the face once more before winding their heads back and headbutt one another in the process. As they once again jumped back from each other's space, Marco pantingly watches his opponent mimics his stance and posture before getting on both of it's knees, declaring defeat.

Marco: (Chuckling While Still Panting) Still......got...it......

Marco suddenly falls down to the ground with Robert and Yuri frantically screaming out his name as his vision fades to black.

Marco: Where..........Where am I? Why is it so dark in here?

So you're awake, Marco Rodriguez.

Marco's eyes begins to widens as he sees a man in a dark, grayish blue gi turning away from him.

Marco: That gi......A-And the hair! Are you.......

The man turns around and reveals himself to be none of than the legendary Kyoukgen Karate Arts' master......

Marco: Mr. Karate? You're actually real!?

Mr. Karate (?): Hmph. (Walks Towards the Sitted Down Man) Whether I exist or not does not matter in the scheme of things. What DOES matter however, is the potential you seem to hold within. A potential that yet to be fully realized.

Marco: My potential?.....Fully realized?

Mr. Karate (?): Yes. (Balled his Fist Up) And I believe the test of your might and conviction will begin right. About. Now.

The long nose masked warrior begins to deliver a strong looking punch towards Marco's perspective as the young man let out a scream before coming back to reality and getting himself up from a wooden like-bed he was seemingly laying on, as one of his fellow Kyoukgen Karate Arts in training companion, Robert, quickly grabs his shoulder to help calm him down.

Robert: Hey, easy there, bud. You've just woken up.

Marco: Please I- Huh? (Turns to See Robert Sitting on One Side of the Bed) Robert? (Thens Turns and See Yuri Sitting on the Other Side) Yuri? Is that really you guys?

Yuri: (Hugs Marco Tightly With Teara Falling Down her Face) Of course it's us, you idiot!~ You had us both worried sick the moment you fought that bear! Don't ever scare like that again.....

Robert: ('Sigh in a Bit of Relief') Seriously.....I know you're Ryo's star pupil or whatever, but you're still just as much of a human as the rest of us here, you know?

Marco: (Quickly Bows his Head Down) O-Of course! I apologize for my recklessness today, it won't happen a- GAIN ACK! (Winces in Pain as He Stops Bowing and Felt a But of a Crack From the Back of his Neck)

Yuri: ('Sighs Heavily') Pleeeease take it easy on yourself before I start crying harder and bopping you in that big, dumb head of yours......

Marco: R-Right. I'm sorry.....(Looks Around the Room He's Staying in) Where are we? (It....looks somewhat familiar.....)

Robert: We brought you here in this cabin after you were unconscious.

A soft, roar is heard in the room as the trio sees the gi wearing bear begins to nervoulsy walk in the room.

Robert: And this big guy here helped us along the way.

Yuri: He felt so bad about attacking you earlier. It's kinda cute.

The Bear solemnly nodded in agreement..

Marco: (Starts Nodding Himself With his Arms Already Crossed Together) Hm. I see......(Happily Opens his Arms Up at the Bear in Question) Bobo, get over here and give your papa a hug, you big lug!~

The Bear smiles brightly as he rushes over to give Marco a big loving hug, much to the couple's shock.

Yuri: Papa?

Robert: Bobo!?

Marco: (Chuckles Lightly) Look at you! You've grown a lot since the last time I've saw you! And your performance was excellent today! I'm so proud!~

'Ahem'

The man and bear duo turn their heads to see Robert and Yuri staring at the both of them.

Robert: You mind telling us what's going on here, bud?

Yuri: (Starts Pouting at Marco) You promised you would tell us, so hop to it, mister!

Marco: (Hold his Hands Up in Front of Him in Defense) Alright, alright, I'm getting to it! (Clears his Throat Before Beginning his Explanation) Okay, so long ago when I was young and stupid like you two-

Yuri/Robert: Hey!/Oi!

Marco: I came to this forest to start my training alone 'till one night, I've stumbled upon this poor fella got himself trapped in a beartrap net when he was a little cub. Once I got him out of there and patched him up, I've started looking for his parents with little to no success. (Gently Rubs the Bear's Back) He spent his whole life scared and all alone in this forest, so I did what any parental figure would do and raised him as my own, even went as far as to teach him how to fend for himself in the Arts of Kyoukgen Karate until it was time for me to head back home. I've been thinking about him since then.....(Turbs Back to Bobo with Proud Smile on his Face) So you could imagine the pride and happiness in my eyes when I saw this boi all grown up and kicking his old man's ass at ease. (Went Back to Hugging Bobo Again) Making his Papa Rodriguez so proud today~ Yes, you did~

Yuri: (Covers her Mouth as Her Eyes Begins to Sparkle) Oh my gossssh!~ This is the most cutest thing I've ever seen yet!~

Robert: (Chuckles Lightly) You've never cease to amazed me, amico. You keep this up and you'll give your teach a run for his money on the master role in no time.

Marco: Oh no, I could never live up to Master Ryo's greatness. (Smiles Softly) But I'm glad that my teachings have made an impact on him throughout the years.

Yuri: (Shyly Twiddling her Fingers Together) Mr. Bobo, I know it's too much to ask but......(Bows to Bobo) Can I pleeeeease I have hug from you too?~

Bobo turns to Marco for his sign of approval.

Macro: (Simply Nodded to Bobo) Go ahead, boy. She won't bite.

Bobo turns back to Yuri and spread his arms wide open to her.

Yuri: (Squeals Happily as She Rushes Over Hugs the Bear Very Lovingly) Thank you so much!~ My name Yuri Sakazaki and I hope we can be the bestest of friends!~

Bobo happily hugs Yuri back, making the young woman even more happy than she has ever been.

Yuri: (Turns to Marco) We can please take him back home with us?~ Please, please, pleeeeeeeease!?~

Marco: (Shakes his Head) No can do, Yur. As well trained as he is, Bobo is a fully grown bear now. It would be too dangerous for him to step foot in the streets of Southtown. (Smiles Softly) But since we're already here, you two can have all the time in the world to get to know him, maybe teach him a thing or two on your own mix of the Kyoukgen Arts.

Yuri: (Smiles Brightly) Sure, I don't mind. I'm a bit rusty on the teaching side, but I'll still give it my best shot!~

Robert: (Smirks Confidently While Grabbing his Chin) And I'll be sure to have him look his best while he's kicking ass.

Yuri: (Turns to Robert) Robbie, how are you gonna get him to wear a suit and tie without angering him? He's a literal bear.

Robert: I'll......figure something out.....eventually.......

Marco: (Stares at Robert With a Deadpinned Look on his Face) Mmhmmm....How about you teach him your legwork attacks instead, pretty boy?

Robert: (Starts Rubbing The Back of his Head Back and Forth) Yeah, that.....sounds like a safer idea.

Marco: (Nodded Once More) Exactly. (Turns to Bobo With a Smile) You hear that, boy? You've nade yourself two new friends.

Bobo roars happily as begins to spend two to three days with the papa again after all these years

Happy birthday, Yuri Kochiayama! (May 19, 1921)

Born in San Pedro, California to Japanese immigrants, Yuri Kochiyama was subject to anti-Japanese racism in World War II America as her father died after being detained in ill health by the FBI and herself and her mother interned as a result of Executive Order 9066. After the war and her release from internment, Kochiyama became involved in civil rights activism, joining the Congress of Racial Equality and associating with figures such as Malcom X and Robert Williams. She was involved in various revolutionary movements and activities from the 1960s onward, affiliating with the Revolutionary Action Movement and the Republic of New Africa. She was also involved in the radical Asian American movement and helped to popularize calls for an official apology and reparations for Japanese internment. She remained a radical activist and prolific speaker until her death in 2014.

Consciousness-raising is pertinent for power, and [to] be sure that power will not be abusively used, but used for building trust and goodwill domestically and internationally. Mini Fanfic #1052: Kyoukgen Special Outing Date!! (King of Fighters)

2:23 p.m. at Biggs' Tailor Made Shop........

Marco: (Inside the Dressing Room) Are you sure this suit would look good on me? Been a long while since I've worn one....

Robert: (Smiles Softly) Trust us, Marco, you're gonna look a like million bucks with the suit we picked out for ya.

Yuri: Just imagine: you walking into some fancy, boring rich people's party while everyone present, turns and pays attention to you, not just another guy in a suit, but as Marco Rodriguez......(Slowly Moves her Hand Up to the Side With a Huge Smile on her Face) the big, firm, extraordinary, handsome devil of the Kyoukgen Karate!

Marco: Handsome Devil of Kyoukgen Karate, eh? Not a bad ring to it. But I am far from being the most handsome guy out there. At least not in comparison to Robert.

Robert: (Flips his Front Hair With a Cocky Smirk on his Face) Well, my natural beauty does have no equal and competition~

Yuri: (Turns to Robert With a Smirk of her Own) Does the name "Benimaru Nikaido" ring any bells?

Robert: ('Scoffs') Sparky wishes he could keep up with me.

Marco: Isn't he that playboy model who won a lot of KoF tournaments?

Yuri: Yep! Robbie boy over here been jealous of him since day one. It's kinda funny.

Robert: No it isn't. And so what if the guy won more tournaments than any of us combined? I'm still richer than him!

Yuri: True, but he's still a pretty solid hit with the ladies though. Some of which are high class models themselves.

Robert: But are any of them a ponytail, braided cutie who can kick ass? (Gives Yuri a Peck on the Cheek) I don't think so~

Yuri: (Giggles Softly While Blushing) Robert!~ You're being too modest~

Robert: (Smirks Playfully at Yuri) Hey, I ain't the one constantly kept boasting about how cute you are. I just happened to wholeheartedly agree to that statement.

Yuri: Oh really?~ Well, I just so happened to be a form believer that you, Robert Garcia, is the most handsomest stud around~ (Winks at her Man Beside Her)

Robert: More handsome than sparky?~ (Raises an Eyebrow)

Yuri: ('Sigh') Yes, Robert. You're more handsome than sparky. Very much so~ (Kisses Robert on the Lips)

Marco: You can quit the flirting now, lovebirds! I'm finished changing!

As the door opens, Marco walks out of the dressing room wearing a nicely tailored made, white tuxedo, black dressed pants, and a rich, silver tie.

Marco: (Starts Rubbing the Back of his Head Back and Forth a Bit Nervously) So......how do I look?

Yuri: (Gasps Loudly With a Big Smile and Sparkles in her Eyes) Marcoooooo!~ You look amazing!!~

Robert: (Smiles Proudly) And a very handsome devil I may add. (Moves a Nearby Mirror in Front of Marco's Viewpoint) Take a look for yourself, bud.

Marco: (Takes a Look at Himself in the Mirror, Much to his Genuine Surprise) Huh. Well, I'll be damned. I do look like a million bucks.

Robert: Told ya! Consider this one a gift from me to you. On the house.

Marco: (Eyes Widened in Genuine Surprise) Wait, you're seriousluly buying me this!?

Robert: (Happily Nodded) Yeah, man. Can't have you going to this upcoming VIP party with us next week, without wearing something more sophisticated, which you're invited to by the way.

Yuri: SURPRISE!~

Marco: VIP party, huh?.....Sure, if it beats being in the restaurant all night, then I'm down. (Bows to the Couple In Front of Him) Thank you for the invite.

Robert: Nah, there's no need to thank us. We're just happy to have you along for the ride. (Gives Marco a Playful Smirk While Pointing a Finger Gun at Him) Just try not to rip it to pieces with your manliness this time, 'kay?

Marco: (Sighs While Pinching his Nose) You're still going on about that?

Yuri: (Pouts at Marco With her Hands on her Hips) Of course we are! Like, we get that you love our karate style and showing off your manly side or whatever, but you gotta ease up on the shirt ripping! Speaking of which, how were you even able to do that so easily anyways?

Marco: I'm......not really sure actually. But master did said that my Kyoukgen spirit is stronger as each time passes.

Yuri: (Gives Marco a Deadpinned Look on her Face) Kyoukgen spirit?

Marco: (Simply Nodded) Yep. He told me all about it when we went training in the mountains that one time. Legend has it that the spirit and influence of Mr. Karate himself will start coursing through one's veins each time their training progresses. Of course, It'll take a very long time before anyone could match up against Mr Karate himself, in terms of strength and endurance, but we all have to start somewhere, am I right?

Robert and Yuri starts looking at each other for a few seconds in silence before turning back to Marco.

Robert: You see.....(Sticks Both of his Arms and Habds Out at Marco) This right here is EXACTLY why you need to go out more.

Yuri: And luckily for you....(Happily Stands By One of Marco's Shoulder While Robert Stands by the Other) We'll be the only two sane ones to help you see more of the clear skies in no time!~

Marco: (Sighs While Rolling his Eyes) You know, I don't always spend my time cooped up in the dojo all day. But I suppose a few outings or so with you two aren't too bad of a time waster, so thanks for that I guess.

Yuri: No problem!~ Now, can we hurry up and buy this suit already? I'm starving like crazy really!

Few Minutes Later Outside of an Italian Themed Restaurant........

Yuri: (Takes a Bite of her Ordered Meal Before Beaming Up With Pure Satisfaction) ('Mmmmm') Wooow!~ This has to best risotto I've ever tasted!~ So heavenly~

Robert: Yeah, it's pretty good, but you have to try out these lamb chops. (Takes Another Bite of his Meal and Enjoys It) They'll to die for! Ain't that right, Marco?

Marco: ( Looks Down Plays With His Food in Silence With the Side if his Head Resting on his Knuckles) ....................

Yuri: Marco?

Marco: (Comes Back to Reality as He Looks Back Up to the Couple) Hm?

Yuri: (Stares at Marco With a Worried Frown) Is everything okay?

Robert: Is the lamb chop not as good as you hoped it would be?

Marco: Oh. No, it's not that. It tasted great actually.

Robert: (Smiles Brightly) Right? I'm thinking we should making one of our own and added it to the menu once we get back home. Give it's own flare, persino l'unicità! (Chuckles Lightly Before Frowning) But no seriously, Marco, what's wrong?

Marco: I've been thinking.

Yuri: About?

Marco: My place here in the Kyoukgen Karate. Ever since Grandmaster Takuma appointed me as the head chef of the BBQ restaurant and when master declined the thought of me joining your team for the fifteenth KOF tournament, I.....guess I couldn't but to feel....inferior to you guys as of lately. Like my contribution to the Kyoukgen's name, means little to nothing to any of you anymore, master especially. ('Sigh') I dunno, maybe I'm not working as hard as I thought I was? I know I still have a long road ahead of me, but how long will it takes for me to not keep falling behind? Or should I stop everything, pack it up and just......call it quits?

Yuri and Robert stares at their Kyoukgen artist in dead silence as if the words that came out of his mouth struck a cord within them in some way.

Marco: (Starts Feeling a Bit Awkward by the Silence) A-Actually, forget everything I just said. (Chuckles Awkwardly) I'm only rambling on about my own dumb dilemmas like I always do, so.....uh.....(Slowly Takes Another Bite of his Lamb Chop Before Swallowing It) Y-Yeah.

Robert: Marco, I....that....can't be any more farther from the truth at all. You're one of the most dedicated and hard working person our dojo has to offer. Even more so than Ryo and Master themselves.

Yuri: Robert's right. You always do whatever you can help us keep the dojo and restaurant in their place, you became a huge inspiration to most of our students for as long as any of us could try to remember, and you're a hell of a lot more stronger than you're giving yourself credit for right now! Remember that one time in training, Dad threw you like five wooden boards and you headbutted all of them at ease? I always thought you're the coolest guy ever since then.

Marco: You have? T-Thanks. (Smiles Sheepishly While Rubbing the Back of his Head Back and Forth) Mama always said I have the hardest head of the whole family. But it nowhere near as impressive as you breaking those boards with your....(Starts Blushing a Little While Looking Away) Uh.....

Yuri: My big, fat butt?

Marco: Yeah. That. It's creative and very effective force of attack, in more ways than one......

Yuri: (Giggles Softly) Aww, thank you~ I always do my best to put my two best assets to good use in battle. So much so that I gave it an attack name: Swallow Wing.

Marco: (Starts Nodding in an Impressed Manner) That sounds like a decent name for an attack.

Yuri: Right? I came up with it all night and everything! (Crosses her Arms and Pout) But bro and dad says I look unprofessional and un-lady like every time I use it.

Robert: (Shrugs) Hey, if it's effective enough to knock anyone out, then who cares what those two pagliaccis think. (Chuckles Lightly....Which Now Turns into a Bit of a Goofy Laugh)

Marco silently turns to Yuri with a bit of weirded out look on his face.

Yuri: ('Sigh') Don't mind Robbie-Boy over there. He's always get like this whenever my butt attack gets brought up at any conversation.

Marco: You don't say.....

Yuri: Uh-huh. Like, I get that we've been dating for a while now and that I packed a whole lot of impact and junk in the truck since then, but this is getting ridiculous at this point!

Marco: ('Sigh') Let's just hope your brother and father doesn't see him actin' like a perverted fool anytime soon.....

Yuri: Oh they've already catched him doing that multiple times before and it most ends with him receiving a broken nose. (Smiles Dreamingly at her Boyfriend) Still, i think he looks so cute when acts all silly like that~ Makes me wanna kiss his face, you know?

Marco: If helps him sleep at night. (Starts Snapping his Fingers in Front of Robert) Oi! Robert!

Robert: (Finally Comes Back to Reality) Huh? What?

Yuri: (Raises an Eyebrow) Don'tcha think we're getting a little off topic here?

Robert: (Immediately Remembers What's the Original Conversation Was) Oh! Yeah! Uh...('Clears Throat') You're right. (Bashfully Fixes his Shirt's Collar) Sorry about that of all, Marco. I was.....lost in my own thoughts as per usual is all.

Marco: (Crosses his Arms, Unimpressed) We noticed.

Yuri: (Giggles Softly at Robert Dispense)

Robert: Yeah....B-But actually going back to the topic at hand here, all of the reasons Yuri and I listed just proves that you, Marco Rodriguez, contributed a whole lot to our team than you think. And I'm sure your master would think and say the same too, no matter how thick headed he is at times.

Yuri: (Groans in Frustration While Having the Urge to Not Rip her Whole Hair Out) To an egregious tea!

Robert: Yuri!

Yuri: (Sighs While Pinching her Nose to Try Calming Herself Down) Sorry, sorry. I know we're getting off topic again and junk, but that jerk has been pissing me off nonstop as of late. I mean, first, he kicked me out of the team for being the weak link, and then had the nerve to chose King over Marco after he was willing to spend a WHOLE FUCKING YEAR training in the moutains with him, for.....WHATEVER REASON, cause it sure as hell wasn't because he finally used that thick skull of his to find out that she had a crush on his dumbass, that's for sure!!

Marco: I always thought that was the reason he chose her over me. To get close and development their bond long enough to admit their feelings to one another.

Robert: (Sighs While Facepalming Himself) Trust us when we say that we both wish and thought that were the case too, bud.....But of course, every time I tried to tell him that King might have feelings for him, he always denies it and thinks I don't know what I'm talking about. Hell, even when that poor girl hints after hints of that being the case, he STILL gets oblivious over the whole thing, it's infuriating! And I think King is starting to get tired of it too.

Yuri: Oh, I can TELL that she's having enough of his crap! Remember that night when Ryo made this big speech about how we stopped caring about our dojo or whatever? King walked out the door at one point during the whole thing and was already long gone before we went outside shortly after. Fast forwarding to a day later, she texted and said that something came up for her to leave at the last few minutes. (Crosses her Arms Again) I swear, if that's not a clear sign of her giving up, then I don't know what is anymore....

Marco: Maybe there actually was something that came up at the time. I don't know King as much as the rest of you do, but she doesn't seem the kind of woman who would make lies out of the blue like that.....Right?

Yuri: Well....I mean...she is the most honest out me and Mai since we first met one another. ('SIigh') So I guess I could be blowing all of this out of proportion.....(Starts Pouting Again) Doesn't change the fact that I'm still mad at Ryo.

Marco: Hey, I get it. I mean, I'm having mixed feelings about all of this, but I completely understand why it's upsetting. Sorry that he cut you out of the team like that.

Yuri: (Turns Back to Marco With a Small Smile) It's fine. I'm sorry he didn't give you a chance to join at all. (Starts Frowning Again) Among others things.....

Marco: Other things?

Robert: (Starts Rubbing The Back of his Head Back and Forth While Looking Away) Yeah, this might be a long time coming, but we really wanna apologize for leaving you behind for an entire month to watch over restaurant on your own like that.

Yuri: We're supposed to be a team, family even. And yet, here you are, getting left behind and cleaning up behind our messes. Some friends we are.....

Marco: (Smiles a Bit Reassuringly) Hey now. There's no need to feel down about all of that. It wasn't easy watching over the restaurant at first, but my crew and I were still able to pull through for as long as we need to at the time.

Robert: (Smiles Back) And we really couldn't thank you enough for that. You ever need us for everything, don't be afraid to give us a hollar, alright?

Yuri: (Hugs Marco's Arm) We love you, Marco. And if we have to prove how much you mean to us on daily basis, then so be it. We're up for the challenge.

Robert: (Points his Finger Guy at Marco Before Winking) Anyday of the week, amico.

Marco: (Smiles Sheepishly) You...really don't have to go out of your way to do that for me. Having you two as my friends is already good enough for me as it gets. You're good people.

Robert: (Happily Nodded) Ditto. I honestly believe this will be a start of an actual friendship.

Yuri: (Smiles Brightly) Yep!~ And we're gonna be sticking together like super glue from here on out, so you better get used to it, Marco Rodriguez!!~

Marco: (Chuckles Lightly) Fine by me. I'm having the time of my life already.

Do you give recs? I'm looking for some woke-free medias to consume (books particularly, but it can be anything)

It's hard to give recs without knowing your taste, but I'll try. Necessarily, many of these will be older things, so sorry if that bothers you

Books:

The Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell (sci-fi)

The Nightside series by Simon R Green (urban fantasy/detective noir)

The Deathstalker series by Simon R Green (there are gay side characters in a few of the books, but the books themselves aren't woke. Just good sci-fi/space opera)

Any Conan the Barbarian story written by Robert Howard or Robert Jordan (fantasy)

The Destroyermen series by Taylor Anderson (disclaimer I'm only up to book 4 out of 15 and the last book was published in 2020 so it may have gotten woke or started to suck later on, but right now it's pretty good and pretty pro-American. Alternate history action sci-fi)

The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher (urban fantasy)

Any Dune book by Frank Herbert or Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert (sci-fi)

The Temeraire series by Naomi Novik (only read the first three out of nine so same disclaimer as Destroyermen. Alternate history fantasy. Napoleonic Wars with dragons)

The Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell (also the excellent film adaptations of the books with Sean Bean if you can find them. Historical fiction. You follow Richard Sharpe through the ranks of the British army during the Napoleonic Wars)

The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien (the grandfather of modern fantasy)

The collected works of HP Lovecraft (definitely not PC or woke. His cat makes an appearance in one of his stories. Horror)

The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker (horror. Hellraiser was based on this novella. tentative rec because it's good, but there's a lot of mentioned sex and very liberal attitudes towards sex so I don't know if you'd consider that woke or not. The sex obsessed characters are the bad guys though)

Any of the pre-Disney "canon" Star Wars expanded universe books.

Any of the Star Trek books written by William Shatner (they're all a connected series though so read them in order)

If non-woke is your main criteria, I'd suggest giving the Witcher books by Andrzej Sapkowski a try. I personally hated the little bit of the first one I read, and I hate the Witcher series in general, but no one can argue that the Witcher is in any way woke, lol

Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher (fantasy)

Phantoms by Dean Koontz (also recommend the movie with a very young Ben Affleck, but if you rent it on Prime use headphones. Audio is all fucked up through a surround sound system. At least it was when I rented it a few years back. horror)

The Legend of Drizzt series (and the associated sub-series) by RA Salvatore (fantasy. I stopped reading at the Transitions series--books 20-22--because I personally didn't like them and the way they changed the characters and the setting, but YMMV. I'd highly recommend books 1-19 though. Great fantasy series in my favorite D&D setting, the Forgotten Realms)

The Giver by Lois Lowry (young adult book, but has a great message of individuality and anti-government)

Since you wanted books mostly I'll just breeze through movies, shows, comics and games with a few of my favorites:

Movies - Equilibrium, Lord of the Rings, pre-Disney Star Wars, Alien, Aliens, Predator, Predator 2, Hellraiser 1 + 2, Friday the 13th series, Halloween series, The Patriot, In the Mouth of Madness, Sonic the Hedgehog 1 + 2

Shows - Jericho, X-Files, Star Trek (OS, TNG and DS9 especially. Anything nu-Trek is easily skippable), Chernobyl, Avatar The Last Airbender, Lost (it's not confusing if you just pay attention!)

Anime - Fullmetal Alchemist (both series are good but Brotherhood follows the manga more closely), Death Note, Bungo Stray Dogs, Yowamushi Pedal, Ace of Diamond, Yuri on Ice (super gay but funny and heartwarming and not woke beyond the two male leads being stupidly in love with each other even if it's never mentioned explicitly), Street Fighter II V. Honestly most anime isn't woke at all, so just look around for things that seem interesting to you and you're probably good there

Comics - Batman: No Man's Land, Batman: Knightfall, Batman: Bruce Wayne Murderer/Fugitive, Batman: The Killing Joke, any Marvel Masterwork collection, any Dark Horse Alien or Predator or Alien vs Predator comic, Spawn. Special mention: Isom and the Rippaverse. The Rippaverse is a new shared comic universe created by Eric July, self-described anarcho-capitalist and contributor to The Blaze that's specifically designed from the ground up to not be woke and offer a customer first mentality. They promise that the various books they're planning on releasing will focus on story and characters, not politics or social justice crap. So far, only Isom #1 has come out, and I haven't gotten my copy yet, but most people who've read it seem to love it, and that one comic alone has already sold over 43,000 copies and made $3.7 million so early adopting is probably a safe bet.

Games - Metal Gear Solid series, Batman: Arkham series, Halo 1-3, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Greedfall, Dishonored series, Edge of Eternity, Metro series, Mafia 1+2, Elden Ring. Pretty much any game before the mid-2010s is a safe bet for non-woke, so like anime, you should just look at older games you think you might like, or their remasters, and go from there.

So that's my list. It's by no means complete, and there's no real order to the recs, so just look them up and see what, if anything, appeals to you. If you, or anyone else, want more specific recommendations or an opinion on a certain title or series that I mentioned or even ones I didn't, feel free to ask. I'll help if I can. Mostly what I read and watch are sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and things like that. I don't really read typical bestsellers or westerns or comedies. So I might be much help with those genres.
