hi quick PSA (from someone who plays roller derby) to anyone writing roller derby AUs or drawing art of the same:

please please please for the love of the gods give your characters proper protective gear, that means helmet, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, mouth guards. because most of the fanart I see the characters don't have helmets or elbows and babes, that will break someone if they're in an actual game.

also on skate types: please noheeled skates, honey, those throw off your balance and make you lean further forward than flat skates, and you will end up stacking if you are in derby stance (slightly leaned forward) and on heeled skates (leaned forward) and please do not use inline skates either because that's a whole other ballgame

Hellcheer Roller Derby AU

-Chrissy Cunnigham is the queen of Hawkins High School. She has straight As, a perfect boyfriend, and is the captain of the cheer squad. Really, there's not that much else to her if you asked anyone.

-All of that, combined with an overbearing and controlling mother, Chrissy is under a lot of pressure. But she has one release for all of her pent up feelings.

-Tuesday and Friday nights at the semi run down roller rink near the edge of town, the Hawkins Skull Crushers is one of the best co-ed roller derbys this side of the Midwest.

-Chrissy isn't the biggest girl in the rink, but she's one of the most agile and people underestimating her ability has helped the team win many times.

-Eddie Munson and his band, Corroded Coffin, have been struggling to find places that will let them play. They're hired by the local roller rink to play Tuesday night when he sees her.

-Chrissy Cunningham, his crush since middleschool, hip checking some girl over the railing as she races around the arena.

- It's been years since they've even talked, but he's still smitten by the blonde. As they're packing up for the night when he hears her talking to someone about how they're down one player.

-Seeing this as his chance to spend more time with Chrissy, Eddie...overexaggerates his expertise in the arena and is immediately accepted into the team so they can go to the next tournament.

-Eddie shows up to practice on Thursday, woefully unprepared for how violent the sport can be. He absolutely eats shit, almost losing a tooth when he faceplants. Hard.

Normally, he'd get kicked off, but they need a backup for the upcoming tournament and the team isn't left with many other choices.

-Chrissy takes it upon herself to personally train Eddie and the two find themselves growing closer. In the rink and at school. Much to the confusion of everyone at school. Especially Chrissy's boyfriend.

The two of them are absolutly the type to go all out and slam each other into every wall and person they can. They are the cause of 90% of each others bruises in every game they face off against in and neither of them is apologizing because this is fun for them

Gai once bodies kakashi into the wall and cringe when the wall f***ing broke. It was neither of their fault but gai felt bad because Kakashi did get fut up pretty badly from the broken boards. He shows up a few days later at Kakashi’s house with video games, chips and all of the apologies

Kakashi once trips gai and watches as he goes tumbling head first into a concussion. He didn’t actually intend to trip him (their feet happened to cross) but you bet your ass he was bringing Gai dano daily and sitting beside him silently while they just did their own thing

Helllooooo 🛼 VERY excited someone asked about this one! (And even someone that I don't have to explain the rules to!)

Basically, Harley and Ivy are on rival roller derby teams (who saw that coming, right?) but Ivy's a new player that Harley hasn't ever faced before. Harley's more aggressive style of jamming usually clears some space in the pack for her but it doesn't seem to intimidate this new pivot (Ivy).

Here's a little snippet:

“Fuck,” Harley hisses as she finds herself caught up on the pivot’s ass again.

It’s been at least forty seconds and she hasn’t even gotten out of the pack once yet.

“Harls!”

She looks up to see Banshee coming back for her, an arm extended.

They’ve done this move a lot, Banshee whipping Harley forward while sitting on the blocker she’s stuck behind, acting like a screen so that Harley can get free.

This’ll work. It always works.

Banshee’s hand wraps around Harley’s wrist, grinding the hard plastic of her wrist guard into her bones, and yanks while she spins, using the momentum to drag Harley forward and out of the pack. Except…

Except that fucking pivot has read the move and turned into their clasped hands, forcing them to let go or receive a penalty, and now she’s chest blocking Harley and goddamn it she has some nice tits. Her violently red hair is tied up in a braid that’s draped over her shoulder and tickling Harley’s cheek, and she wants to commit murder about it.

“Welcome to fucking Arkham,” Harley snaps as she pulls back a shoulder and drives it forward and up, trying to get unstuck from this bitch, but the pivot doesn’t even breathe hard.

“Are you the welcome wagon?”

The pivot’s voice is low and flat like she on a fucking walk in the woods and she’s never found anything even remotely interesting in her entire life.

Goodie comes swooping in from the left trying to sweep the pivot out of Harley’s way, but she just takes her stupid red hair and pushes herself backward eighteen inches, letting Goodie pass right on by, before she catches Harley on her chest again.

DAMN IT.

Her tits are really, really nice.
