Chapter 15

A Date For Rose and Ichabod

The tavern was as lively as ever. With rowdy customers roaring and sultry barmaids flirting with all the customers. Harry sat in his usual spot in front of the fireplace. He drank his beer as he thought of ways where he could make Rose his. It was only right that they be together, for he was the most handsome man in the entire kingdom and she was the most beautiful girl.

“Harry! Harry!” Louis called for his friend.

“What is it, Louis?” Harry snarled, not wanting the company at the moment. “Can’t you see I’m busy?”

“Doing what exactly?”

“Thinking of Rose, you bloody fool!” Harry yelled, making all the patrons stop to look at him for a moment before they proceeded with their business. “She will be mine, and I won’t stop until she is”

“But, Harry, why think about Rose, when you can just see her?” Louis tempted. “The whole town is talking! There’s a new girl in town today and people are saying her beauty is quite unmatched”

“That’s my Rose!” Harry got out of his seat and made his way for the door. “I must go see her and try another attempt at wooing her!”

“Yes, of course, but there is something you should know--”

Harry ignored his friend as he made his way to the door. “Now isn’t the time to waste mine, Louis. I’m off to see my woman!” And with that, Harry was out the door.

Boy, he’s not going to be happy when he sees she’s with that Ichabod fellow Louis thought. Oh well.

Ichabod started by showing Rose all the lovely sights around the town. She was enamored by every single one. And so many people stopped to say a friendly hello to her. Currently, they were at the town’s fountain. Ichabod was going to show her how to make a wish. “Here” Ichabod handed her a gold coin.

“What’s this for?” Rose asked, looking at the coin.

“It’s to make a wish” Ichabod explained. Oh, wishes! Rose loved making wishes. “You make your wish, then throw the coin into the fountain”

“Okay” Rose closed her eyes and thought of a wish. Once she silently made her wish, she threw her coin into the fountain. It splashed when it hit the water and sunk to the bottom of the fountain.

“What did you wish for?” Ichabod whispered in her ear.

Rose smiled. “I can’t tell you, otherwise it won’t come true!” She sat down on the edge of the fountain and put her hand in the water. “Have any wishes you made here ever come true?”

Ichabod stared at Rose with love in his eyes. “One”

“It’s your turn to make a wish now” Rose tempted. What more could Ichabod wish for? He had Rose right here with him. Well, there was one thing. Ichabod pulled another gold coin out of his pocket. He closed his eyes and spoke the wish in his head. Once he had made his wish, he tossed the coin into the fountain. “What did you wish for?” It was Rose’s turn to ask.

“You know I can’t tell you” Ichabod repeated Rose’s words to her. “Because if I tell you...”

“It won’t come true” Rose finished. She looked past Ichabod and noticed the shop decorated with flowers. “Is that a flower shop?”

Ichabod turned to see what Rose was pointing at. “It is! Would you like to visit it?”

“If it’s not too much trouble” Ichabod took Rose’s hand and gently pulled her in the direction of the flower shop. They entered the shop and when the bell rang, it made Rose giggle. She immediately became intoxicated by all the sweet smells of the various flowers. There were roses and lilies, daffodils and daisies. Rose had never seen so many flowers in one place.

“Ichabod!” A woman called out to him. It was Petunia, the owner of the shop.

Ichabod smiled at the woman. “Petunia!”

Petunia walked over to the couple. Her eyes were set on Rose. She smiled at the girl. “Aren’t you as pretty as a rose?”

“Funny you should say that because my name happens to be Rose” The girl said.

Petunia kept staring at the girl. She gently cupped the girl’s face and looked into her eyes. Petunia sensed a hint of familiarity in them. Rose was confused as to why this woman she just met was staring at her in such a way. “Oliver, would you come out here please?”

The man came out of the backroom. This was Petunia’s husband, Oliver. “Yes, my dear? What is it?” He saw the way Petunia was holding onto the girl’s face. “Petunia, you’re scaring the poor girl”

“Oliver, just look at her” Petunia said. Oliver sighed but stepped closer to Rose. It didn’t take long for him to see what Petunia saw. “Oh my..”

Rose’s eyes widened. “What is it?”

“Have we ever met you before...?” Oliver waited for his wife to say the girl’s name.

“Rose”

Oliver nodded and repeated the name. “Rose. Have we met you before Rose?”

“No” Rose shook her head. “This is my first time being in town. Why?”

“It’s just...” Petunia spoke this time. “You seem familiar. Like we’ve met you somewhere before”

“It’s the eyes” Oliver added.

“If I had met you both before, I would’ve remembered” Rose said in an apologetic tone. “I’m sorry, but you both must have me mistaken with someone else”

Petunia sighed and finally let go of Rose’s face. “You’re probably right. I’m sorry we put you through this, my dear”

Rose smiled. “It’s quite alright”

“How can we help you?”

Ichabod spoke this time. “Rose wanted to come in and see what you had for flowers”

Petunia grew a wide smiled. “Well we have plenty of selection! What sort of flowers do you like?”

“Well, roses of course” Rose answered.

Oliver chuckled. “Well we have plenty of those, in all sorts of colours!” He brought Rose and Ichabod over to the wall of roses they had. “Did you know that each colour of roses have their own specific meaning? For instance, yellow roses--”

Rose finished for Oliver. “Symbolize cheerfulness and friendship!”

Oliver pointed to another colour of rose. “And purple?”

“Purple is a symbol of royalty”

Oliver chuckled. “You sure know all about roses, don’t you Rose?”

Rose smiled. “Of course! They are my namesake after all!”

“Which one do you want?”

Rose turned to Ichabod. “Why don’t you pick for me?” Ichabod already had his eyes set on the red roses from the minute he walked into the shop. He picked the first red rose he saw off of the wall and presented it to Rose, who blushed a deep crimson colour. “Red” She said as she took the rose from Ichabod. “Red means...”

Ichabod smiled. “I know what red means. And that’s why I chose it for you”

Rose brought the rose up to her nose. The soft petals tickled her nostrils. She breathed in the intoxicating sweet scent of the flower. She looked up at Ichabod with adoration in her eyes. “Thank you”

Ichabod brushed his fingers against her soft cheek. He then turned to Petunia and Oliver. “How much for the rose?”

Petunia shook her head. “Oh, don’t you worry about it. It’s on us!”

Ichabod nodded. “You’re both too kind” With that, Ichabod and Rose both bid their goodbyes to Petunia and Oliver, and they left the shop. “Are you enjoying the day so far?”

“This is the best day I’ve ever had in all my life, Ichabod!” Rose gushed. She touched his arm and then kissed his cheek. “I have you to thank for it”

Ichabod blushed. His hand went to Rose’s cheek. He caressed it and brushed the skin under her eye with his thumb. His eyes flickered down to her lips. Rose felt her heart pounding against her chest. Was this is it? Her eyes closed when Ichabod started leaning in and she waited for the feel of his lips against hers, but they were so rudely interrupted.

“What is this!?” Harry’s loud voice bellowed. Rose’s eyes opened and she looked in fear at the man who had been harassing her for months now. Ichabod just glared at the man. “What do you think you’re doing with my girl!?”

“She is not yours!” Ichabod said.

Harry gave Ichabod a glare so hard that if looks could kill, he would’ve dropped dead to the ground. “She’s been mine since the moment I first saw her!”

That’s when Rose got the courage to speak up. “I would never be with someone like you!” Harry started laughing, as if he thought she was joking. “What’s so funny?”

“Of course you want to be with me!” Harry gloated. “Every maiden in the kingdom wants to be with me!”

“Not me” Rose growled defensively. “I want you to get this through your thick skull. Nothing in this world will make me be with you. We could be the last two remaining people in the kingdom and I wouldn’t be with you. So just leave me alone!”

Harry’s smile faltered, and was quickly replaced with a look of anger. “I will have you, Rose. One way or another!” Then Harry looked to Ichabod. “And you! I better not see you anywhere near her again, otherwise I will carve your heart out and feed it to the wolves!”

“I would like to see you try” Ichabod said without any fear present in his voice. It intimidated Harry a little bit, at how Ichabod wasn’t terrified of him like every other man in this village was. Harry couldn’t stammer out another word as he marched away, like a little child would after their toy got confiscated by their mommy.

Rose sighed in annoyance. “I wish he would just leave well enough alone”

Ichabod took her hands in his. “Don’t let him get to you, my love”

Rose smiles up at Ichabod, her anger towards Harry quickly fading away and replaced by her love for Ichabod.

The moon was out and there were sparkling stars everywhere, decorating the night sky. It was the perfect end to a perfect day. There was still one thing Ichabod wanted to do with Rose. He wanted to take her on a carriage ride. He had it set up, specially just for them. Ichabod climbed into the carriage first. Then, he extended his hand to Rose to help her in. Once the two of them were in the carriage, they both sat down, and it started to move.

It was a mostly silent ride between them. They enjoyed the pretty sights of the town, and most importantly, each other’s company. The carriage took them on a trip, just outside of the town. Ichabod gazed at Rose, who’s head was looking up, admiring the night sky. He took in a deep breath. It was now or never.

Ichabod reached into his pocket and just kept his hand there, his hand clasped around the velvet box. “Rose, I need to ask you something”

She turned her head to Ichabod and gazed at him. “What is it?”

Ichabod wanted to ask her to marry him, but the words just couldn’t come out for some reason. Instead, an entirely different question came out. “I was wondering if you’d like to accompany me to the Prince’s ball?”

Rose’s eyes sparkled with interest. “A ball?”

“It’s to celebrate the Prince’s...engagement” Ichabod had to keep himself from retching at the thought. “I find balls to be rather boring, but having you there with me would make the night better”

Rose smiled. “I would love to go with you, Ichabod!”

Ichabod smiled--and then he noticed just how beautiful she is underneath the moonlight. His heart started beating against his chest. “Rose...” He spoke her name ever so softly.

“Yes, Ichabod?”

Ichabod didn’t say anything else. He just began leaning in. Rose’s eyes closed and she waited to feel his soft lips on hers. But what she got wasn’t a kiss. But rather an unkindness attack. The ravens came out of nowhere but they swarmed Rose. They knocked her out of the carriage and kept swarming her until she started to cry. Then, the ravens just left. Ichabod hopped out of the carriage to check on Rose. “My love, are you alright?” He asked. Rose shook her head. He noticed that one of the ravens had left a bleeding cut on her cheek. “That was odd. Ravens don’t usually attack just like that”

That was too close. Avonmora had been observing Rose’s date through a crystal ball the entire evening. They were about to kiss. She just couldn’t have that, so Avonmora sent her unkindness of ravens to intrude on their date before their lips could meet. She couldn’t have the girl falling in love with a boy and leaving her behind. Who else would she use a slave? Well, there’s the boy but he can only do so much.

There was also another reason she couldn’t have Rose kissing the boy, but that reason will be revealed to you at another time. Avonmora needed a plan. Something to break Rose and Ichabod apart. She waved her hand and the image on the crystal ball changed. It was of that hunter, Harry. He was sitting in at his spot in the tavern, in front of the fire. He stared at the dancing flames as he stroked the petals of the rose he had in hand. Avonmora knew Harry was hopelessly obsessed with Rose, but she could use that to her advantage.

And she knew exactly how she was going to do it...

JATP Season 2 Wishlist

that i wrote in my notes app back in:

and realized i never posted it here? tbf i'm rarely on tumblr. but because i really miss them rn i want to share my ✨ brainrot ✨ that i had back when i thought they were getting a renewal.

Carrie Wilson

she was my biggest flaw in Season 1. I wish her "redemption arc" is fleshed out more in Season 2; give her either more context & backstory to validate her reason for unnecessarily antagonizing Julie, or screentime to properly address how she's just projecting an emotion completely different into bitterness and anger into Julie's recovery

show particularly her earlier dynamic w/ Flynn and Julie? Maybe as Flynn calls her out, we'd get flashback glimpses prior to Rose's death (maybe even Double Trouble temporarily being Triple Threat 👉🏽👈🏽)

for some reason i'm picturing a scene where she's in her dance studio (she has one in their mansion, of course) practicing some of her Dirty Candy routine when she keeps messing up and not in the right mindset to keep dancing. i feel like the best (maybe easiest but whatever) way to guide the audience into her artist mind is to make her be a perfectionist. in frustration, she blows up for a minute before slumping onto the ground and reminisces her fun times with Julie & Flynn

also when you have her develop, please don't make her lose her femininity and the bubblegum pop music, it's great

Old Songs Resurfacing

it'll prove how detailed & thorough you are as a screenwriter if you pay off the songs mentioned in Season 1 in passing to be actual songs in Season 2

Unreleased: Get Lost, Long Weekend, Crooked Teeth, My Name is Luke, and if that riff from the scene in EP. 5 that spurred on the Bobby reveal isn't from one of these songs, add that too

imagine your queer couple gets to have their first kiss first than your het main couple, not only will that settle Madi & Charlie's statements about being uncomfortable in doing a kissing scene and maintaining the priority of Juke's emotional over physical relationship, it would also make an powerful statement

Reggie's Character Arc

i know that he initially had an arc that involved a romance with Flynn but because of the ages of who they casted, they scrapped it and didn't have time to rewrite the scripts for him as filming neared, so they have time to adapt to how jeremy portrayed him for season 2: a lovable dork who craves familial love

since there's a possibility that lifers can now see the boys, maybe some found family trope for Reggie and Ray Molina?

he has pretty much formed a parasocial relationship with him at this point

so why not instead of a love interest, Reggie can have his character arc develop & we see his family before thru flashbacks and paralleling those in the current times because he sees Ray as a father figure

picture this: it's raining, Bobby opens the garage door to the sound of knocking, the boys find Reggie soaking wet and out of breath when he tries to say he doesn't know where else to go then the boys immediately figure out another fight in the Peters household happened. Reggie tries to talk again when Alex (because even though they're the airhead-sarcastic duo, they know they love each other) runs up to hug him and tells the other he doesn't have to say anything

cut to a freshly showered Reggie, quietly watching tv with Bobby, Luke, and Alex in the garage, eating whatever

also a solo acoustic country song, pls. just to make him happy

The Aftermath of the Deaths

for both the boys and Rose

we get parallels about how Bobby dealt with trauma and grief to Julie

like, the reason why the clothes are still in there (are to have costume changes for the boys) is because Bobby immediately moved out of the house (therefore also the garage) and left the clothes there because he couldn't bear to burn it, or visit the boys' houses to break the news to their families and return the clothes, or donate it somewhere so he just...left it. it would make for a more solid reason (for costume changes) and an emotional context as to how Bobby really tried to forget them because it was "easier."

it would also make sense why Carrie and Julie ended up friends. Rose probably was there for Bobby when they discovered what happened at the alleyway, so they stayed friends over the years and had their respective families but still kept in touch, (bonus points if absolutely nothing romantic happened between them! yay to normalizing platonic male-female relationships) and why Rose would immediately think of Bobby's three late bandmates to send for Julie when she was on her deathbed

Bobby never really "moved on" (because grief is a really complex thing). it's showed that he has a therapist and everything, and this could definitely have some aftereffects on his daughter. Carrie growing up seeing her father be this amazing rockstar but a negligent father and only showing love in ways she doesn't need (like riches and fame and connections to the music industry) because he's actually a really lonely man on the inside and no one can see that except for Bobby's spouse and Carrie. it'd explain why Carrie is spoiled, and other negative character traits that Carrie has on the surface

it's even why Bobby changed his name to Trevor: 1) Bobby is so closely associated to Sunset Curve and it's an absolute pain to be reminded of that every day, 2) it's a stage name and artists really do get that

More Worldbuilding

they already had some pretty creative concepts/ideas in the first season, so why not expand/expound on them a bit more

the instruments are attached to their souls that's why the boys at first can only touch them, like how Willie's skateboard and helmet are attached to him

which is why when they attach themselves to the world of the present, they gather up energy and focus on touching tangible things like the picture frame

this may follow the logic toward the end where they are finally able to touch Julie because she has become attached to their souls. emotionally.

More Creative Collaboration

i believe in the principle that when a story is finally released/published/told to the world, the world shares it. this is also visible in film/tv where when the scripts are finished and actors receive them, the story becomes part of theirs to work on. which means that they have some sort of autonomy over their characters' motivations, a chance to be heard of their ideas and pitches, and why some certain scenes wouldn't work, etc etc. it doesn't just become the director's story nor the screenwriters'.

the actors' ideas such as Perfect Harmony and their solos from Nothing to Lose are great because they let them in. they took risks, and it paid off incredibly well. more of that please. have them be a part of the writing process, (also the story), but never forget what made the music production great in the first place. be coherent and don't be like others that let too many hands work on one piece—it will lose its sound, its identity.

Julie Knowing

that Nick is possessed by Caleb. ohmygOD. hear me out.

the same S1 ending will play somewhere in 2x01, but it will be revealed that Julie was watching through the window the entire time and when she opens the door to receive the flowers, that last look she gives him is actually her scheming.

determined to get Nick back, imagine The Promised Neverland's level of mindgames Julie could play with Caleb because we already know our girl's smart

Free Willie Willie's Freedom

since the boys feel indebted to Willie's help, they insist on helping him too with getting rid of Caleb's stamp

maybe through his connection with Alex? or maybe Willie's family or friends who are still lifers (which is unlikely but either way). he needs to be saved !!

Song Sequences Ideas

juke counter melody duet like Rini's "Even When/The Best Part," Shane & Mitchie's "Wouldn't Change a Thing," or dodie & Jon Cozart's "a love song/a non love song"

emotional carrie ballad paired with lyrical hiphop choreo

willex song - i absolutely have no idea where this could go directionally but maybe alex on an acoustic guitar with a really soft sweet tune

reprises of S1 songs but in the complete opposite of their original style (the fandom's lonelier All Eyes on Me version, i see u)

nick guitar solo - just because Sacha actually plays, idk how it'd fit in to the plot yet but hey

Nothing to Lose (Reprise) - back in the '90s, a producer manipulates Bobby to sign a record deal to become a star but on one condition: disassociate himself with Sunset Curve, to which he first declines until he slowly gets persuaded. (sort of like Todrick Hall's So Lucky to Be You meets Lyn Lapid's Producer Man)

"So how about it, Bobby Shaw? Do we have a deal?"

"Trevor."

"I'm sorry?"

"Call me Trevor Wilson."

i'm pretty sure someone made an animatic with this idea too but i cannot for the life of me find it !!

7. Season 2 starts the same way as Season 1 does before the opening song plays

Black screen that reads a text "Hollywood 1995"

a pan down to the Orpheum's overhead sign that reads "SUNSET CURVE SOLD OUT"

cut to the interior with Rose finishing up her cleaning when a stage manager calls out: "Sunset Curve!" to which Bobby abruptly stops his pacing back and forth to look up. he and Rose look at each other. music swells until...

cut to him running onto the alleyway, "are they still not finished eating? those gluttons are dead to me i swear—" he cuts off his own words when he sees the boys getting dragged onto stretchers. but we, the audience, don't see it. just a close up of bobby as the ambulance lights reflects his face. rose comes up behind him, still clutching their t-shirt.

[i honestly have no idea if Bobby should get on stage because it just proves Luke's theory of The Orpheum's opening bands eventually becoming big & successful so it'll explain the Trevor Wilson fame even though at first he only did it for the boys, or if he shouldn't because according to the article Julie googled he ran away immediately after they were pronounced in the scene] but either way, this is how the opening starts.

then it progresses to Rose and Bobby respectively having children so they could parallel each other blah blah

8. Julie plays a simple song on the piano while the guys watch her in awe

Storytelling through Props

let's dive deep into Rose's luggage/suitcase and use the props to head for Julie's emotional attachment with them

they already did it with the wardrobe: Rose wears the black leather vest in the pilot while Julie wears the same thing in EP 6

add depth to the characters' relationships like us finding out Julie's multilayered necklace is actually a gift from Carrie or something

SOYON ANN YOU'RE A GIFT FROM GOD. Bobby's necklace is present in both young and old!him

**Rose in flashback scenes should be wearing clothes we've already seen Julie in Season 1 just for greater effect.

The Bobby Conflict

definitely needs to be brought up again by Season 2; they only discarded somewhere in the middle because more pressing matters like the boys' existence blipping away was pushed to the forefront of the story

however, The Bobby Conflict changes. it'll be cleared up that he was offered a record deal as a solo artist by a manipulative producer. and given that the poor boy is only 17 (too, maybe), he agrees. what he doesn't know is the contract's fine print: giving up Sunset Curve's royalties

that information clears it up to the audience and the band, so the conflict becomes this: Bobby's Survivor's Guilt. god wouldn't that be so good tackling that in a kids'/family show.

Ameriican Requiem- i'm a huge sucker for a sitar so i was gripped in from the beginning. i grew up on country music (mainly 90s/early 2000s) and so when she showed up at the CMAs and performed with the chicks it was a childhood dream. but as a person who liked country music around the time 9/11 happened, it's only become even more racist since. the way they treated her that night even though she was one of, if not THE, best performer of the night was so upsetting to watch. even as the best artist on the planet, at the top of her game, she's always going to work a million times harder than any of her peers. i'm so proud of her being able to make a song like to this to put her thoughts out on the whole night that night.

Blackbiird- obviously everyone has heard this song before. i was unaware of the actual backstory to the song since i don't follow the beatles too much (i like george harrison but that's about it lol). i was not aware that the song the song was written for black women during the civil rights movement. i assumed the song was mainly written by john lennon who to my knowledge was kind of a grifter when it came to his activism. having this song come right after ameriican requiem is so poetic.

16 Carriages- shockingly i was able to avoid hearing this song in full until tonight. i tend to only do one single per release and so texas hold em was the one. this song is so heartbreaking because i think about all the kids in the entertainment industry who can probably relate to this song all too well

Protector- these songs she makes for her kids... i'm gonna need her to stop. not because they're bad but i straight up can't listen to blue and probably this song because i want a mom like this 😭

My Rose- i hate that this is an interlude. it's so beautiful and not to be dramatic should've been 10 hours long

Smoke Hour • Willie Nelson- idk what to say about this one lol

Texas Hold 'Em- i love this song. the only problem i have with it is it sounds too clean. like the production sounds too clean. maybe it sounds better on the radio where the quality is lower than streaming but its definitely a song that needs to be played not so isolated.

Bodyguard- there's something in this song. she channeled carole king for this on or something. it's so good instantly a top 20 if not top 10 song of hers through her whole discography.

Dolly P- once again idk what to say about this one its too short to say anything

Jolene- i mean i think the same way about her version as i do about dolly's version. why are we getting mad at these women when we should be getting mad at the men?? take away that beyonce is beyonce for a second. if she was a normal lady and this girl was unaware her man was taken, isn't that more on him than anyone? he's letting it happen.

Daughter- her voice in this song is insanity. the control she has is unmatched truly.

Spaghettii- the beat omgggg. i know this would hit so hard in a mashup with "my house" i'm obsessed.

Alliigator Tears- just from hearing snippets of the country music that's on the radio nowadays, i think this might be one of the few songs from this album that they will eat up. i'm not saying that as a diss at all. i love this song alot especially after a second listen.

Smoke Hour II- i guess i can add on here a random tid bit. i made a country playlist in preperation for the album to come out. i made it on valentine's day. tell me why i named it KNTRY. i didn't even know the "radio station" she has on the album was called that lol.

Just for Fun- i don't listen to lana del rey anymore. i had a small time during last year where i did but then she got real messy again and signed that letter thanking joe biden. that being said this song sounds identical to "norman fucking rockwell". which is a compliment because both are good songs. keep jack antonoff away from beyonce though. that's the good thing about beyonce is she doesn't sound like everyone else which he makes everyone do (yes i am a fan of him but i'm critical of his production lol)

II Most Wanted- i'm sorry i've never been a fan of miley cyrus (except for the song she did for black mirror and that one EP she put out). i want to like this song because i like aspects of the song but it being a miley cyrus song with a beyonce feature is not want i want.

Levii's Jeans- this is also a collab i'm not a fan of. i actually enjoy post malone but i would've liked to see them in a more upbeat song.

Flamenco- idk how to take this song. it's stunning as usual. my thoughts on the lyrics though is she's kinda talking to fans maybe like the OG like destiny's child fans who have started to leave because she's starting to experiment more with her sound and they miss her old sound. i would love to know her take on this song in particular. because i know so many artists who decide to change their sound throughout each release are terrified of losing fans because they're so stuck on a certain sound.

The Linda Martell Show- another one i can't say much on since it's an interlude

Ya Ya- now.... remember what i said about bodyguard??? easily top 10. idk where on my ranking but it's there. the interpolation of "these boots were made for walking" and "good vibrations". there's something about that old soul rock sound that gets me every single time. i know that it doesn't sound anything alike but "freedom" has that same vibe, where it takes alot from old 60s blues soul rock. this is gonna hit so good on tour!

Oh Louisiana- i will say i really like this interlude. second favorite out of the ones with actual music

Desert Eagle- another song she chose to make extremely short when it should've been hours long... come on B

Riiverdance- its a fun and cute song. i think the beat is good but i think i like it more on my first listen.

II Hands II Heaven- i'm hoping this will finally click for me. im seeing everyone really love this song but idk whats not clicking for me. i'll definitely keep listening to it though maybe someday.

Tyrant- someone said this is the thique of cowboy carter and yeah i can definitely hear it. it's a sexy song and it's a fun song. definitely like it alot more after a second listen

Sweet • Honey • Buckiin'- her sampling "i fall to pieces" in this song is so special to me. i do want someone to take this "honey" and add it to the end of pure/honey though i wonder if it would sound any good. i think sweet and buckiin are the best songs out of the three of these.

Amen- i love how this really rounds out the album, calling back to the first song. it feels and is a very emotional song. don't know if i'll go back to it only because i think it could make me cry lol

overall, i think it's a solid album. if we're comparing the acts, which idk how you can because they're two distinctly different sounds, i would probably still go with renaissance but there's still so many solid songs on this album that are now some of my top faves. usually i rate out of 10 but it feels too low tbh, so i'm rating it out of 100. it will definitely grow on me just like renaissance did. 89/100.
