Alright okay, specific pencil recommendation shit: beginner tier and budget mostly. I'm still teaching myself to draw and use color better and rn I stick to coloring books I snag from a grocery store with cheapass paper but really cool things to color, I like a soft and buttery sorta feel, and bright colors, and so far the Prismacolors are doing me fine but like, I DO eventually get more than the set of 36 I nabbed already. OH and I also eventually wanna do mixed media with watercolors too

Ok for a beginner on a budget again I recommend arteza (either the standard or expert sets bc they work basically the same) and brutfuner. You can get 120 brutfuners for less than 30$. Tthe square barrels might be a tad uncomfortable and hard to sharpen but they are surprisingly really smooth for a cheap pencil. Um there's another brand called arrtx that I've heard are very similar to prismas but I haven't yet gotten my hands on a pack. But I plan on it! Oh! And since you like softer pencils I won't recommend standard crayola then (even though I always recommend Crayola) but I recommend the Crayola Signature line. After using both there is definitely a difference

As for your coloring books I don't like to use most of them from general stores bc the pages are usually either really thin or really smooth, both of which makes it hard to use pencils. If you can find a way to make the pages rougher or find one with a little more tooth on the page that could make a world of difference for your colors.

And finally prismacolor does make watercolor pencils if you wanna experiment with those sometime. They're not my cup of tea personally but you might like them better and if so that's fantastic

Doodle on the left was from like, idk, 4-5 years ago when I first got some Arteza brush pens from my aunt. The one on the right is from today w/ the same set of pens, because there's no better cure to anxiety than redrawing a really old doodle! (Lying)

Also really funny, cuz the doodle on the left was like, the First version of B.G. ever. Big fluffy cloak, weird skull carvings, awful shape eyelights, the whole nine yards. And the one on the right is the newest version of BG with her obnoxiously sized cloak, illogical earrings, and giant fun rope loop thingies!

I use an XP-PEN brand tablet for digital work!

I do doll face-ups with Arteza watercolor pencils, soft chalk pastels, mica powder, Mr. Super Clear UV Matte Flat, and LOTS of DuraClear in Matte, Gloss, and Ultra Glossy!

My sketchpads are off-white and textured for watercolor pencils! I use Pilot pens for inking, and these pencils for sketching!

I ADORE your lineart -- what kind of warmups do you do to achieve such smooth strokes/warmups in general :) ?

I just thin lines, and one day I heard that pulling and pushing when you ink makes things move smoother. Pull for curved lines, and push for straighter lines.

I was also determined to keep sections of lines all done in one solid stroke so it doesn’t look bumpy.

I circled where I lifted and reconnected the lines, in the first line to show the difference.

Same idea here, I used 6 whole lines here to make for a smoother look. Using pulling to make the curve more natural since the human hand already is inclined to curve.

It also helps that I prefer thin lines to thicker lines for most pieces

The arrow points to the line size I prefer if it hasn’t run out of ink.

If it helps right now I’m using the Arteza brand ink pens if that’s something you would like to know.

I don’t particularly have any warm ups though, since I’m mainly a traditional artist I only have so many supplies.

So I just ink everything I draw, and I draw what I like any time I feel like it. And since I love making art I draw nearly every day.

Pick whatever subject you like, and just keep drawing and inking your pencil lines to your hearts content.

So since tomorrow is the day Pokémon Legends Arceus releases( Oh sorry, I mean Arkoos. Whoever gets that reference, hooray for you!) I decided to celebrate by making a drawing of my Trainersona in the Galaxy Corps clothes holding a old Pokéball with some new markers that I bought on Arteza.

As you can see on my shoulder, I will be picking Cyndaquil as I've always wanted to use a Typholsion as a starter( Plus I've already used Oshawatt before and I still dislike Rowlett) and I really like how Hisuian Form of it looks( I tried my best to avoid the leaks, but of course, like Zubat, they're everywhere!)

Good thing they showed customization in one of the trailers cause I did not know how glasses would look like in the games since no character they revealed at that point in time had glasses, so I was relieved when they showed them in the customization section of the trailer( Even if it was sunglasses, I had a hunch that glasses were in the same style)

Like I said before, I used some new markers called the EverBlend Art Markers - Set of 120, and when it said set of 120, they weren't kidding, it came in huge carrying case. And they are very good for drawing, when I used my old markers, I always end up with small white gaps that I try really hard to fill, yet I still end up with small white gaps. These markers fixed that problem right when I started coloring. And while they do bleed through to the other page( I kinda expected that). I still really love them.

I did miscolor the end of the sleeve with a much darker blue then it is in the game, but it's close enough, along with screwing up with the hand and not making the bottom of the Pokéball more wood looking. But all and all, I think I did a pretty good job.

“Silence”

Sometimes I lay out a few blobs or colour on the canvas and just play around with knives and brushes to get a bg, and then something might take shape, like with this one :P I used impasto for the rune stone as I wanted to play around with rock texture at the same time.

Euronymous Bile

Finally going through my sketchbook and scanning all the stuff I haven’t posted. I did in fact colour Euronymous and the Studio Series Brush Pen did in fact hold up under the pressure of alcohol markers. I was expecting it to get messy and bleed like most brush pens, but when they say it’s resistant to alcohol markers they mean it. It’s a shame there isn’t a finer brush pen with the same ink. If anyone knows brush pens that are resistant to alcohol markets let me know! I like being able to line before I colour, but with most of my pens I have to colour first!

The feeling of being decided can feel like many things … the flash of cool colors on one side warm on the other. The inner struggles of wanting to be happy but at the same time one isn’t . It feels as if who you are is trying to emerge what what is seen.

Your expression requests have such good, fancy colors! Can I ask what do you use? :0

For the expressions, I used my trusty 120 set of Arteza alcohol markers! There are so many colors which makes it convenient in choosing several markers in the same color family, but with slightly different tones or hues. It currently goes for about $100, but I got mine during the Black Friday sale for about $70. But they do have a 60 color set for about $60. Here’s my swatch sheet:

I would recommend the Ohuhu markers though. For $100, you could get 200 bullet nib markers or 120 brush tip markers and the ink quality is just as good in my opinion. I have their 40 marker set and love em! I’d love to get their full range someday.

Both come with pretty good and reusable packaging/storage bags.

And sorry if this is all info you don’t care about, I just love markers and have done a lot of research on many brands
