We are all familiar with the main sign of low self-esteem: you feel bad about yourself. But did you know that - just like many forms of shame - low self-esteem can hide? Sometimes it even presents as boasting or pride! Some of us may not have any idea we have low self-esteem, but here are five signs that you can look for - outside of yourself - that may be happening because of low self-esteem. I want to hear from you too. What external or surprising signs of #lowselfworth that have you noticed in yourself or others? So, Casey couldn't forget Ethan for leaving without telling her because she knows her worth but she did forgive Tobias for screwing her while "screwing" June? How's that selfworthy girlie? ๐ซ
Bestie!!! We have to chat. You've got the details on Tobias/Casey/June wrong. I'll catch you up below, but we'll go in order, so starting with Ethan & Casey (in T/C Land).
Casey and Ethan were in a relationship her intern year, even if they never called it that. Caring for, supporting, and protecting one another; sharing huge secrets together; having each other's back; wanting each other desperately, then finally having each other. That's a relationship, my friends, whether it is named or not.
He told her they'd find a way, and then he decided that solution was to run. That completely discounted her. Then he didn't send as much as a text to let her know. She learned along with every other resident, like she was nobody. She truly loved him, and she was broken. Dozens of tearful messages and pleading texts went ignored for two months.
She no longer believed he ever really cared for her. If he did, he would never have treated her so callously. She doubted everything. She doubted herself. This man, who she loved and idolized just used her in her mind. She felt like a fool. So when he bounced into the bar talking "resets", she told him precisely where he could put it.
On to Tobias and Casey. He was in a no-strings fling with June when they met. The sparks that flew between the two of them were unlike anything they had experienced before, and Tobias was terrified. He never felt this way about anyone. He couldn't get her out of his mind, even dreaming of her. When he "met" her again a week later, he almost hoped it would get her out of his system, but after spending the day getting to know her, he only wanted her more.
He never slept with June again after that day. Their arrangement was "whenever convenient," so it was easy to avoid her. Though it was hard to see each other (conflicting schedules), he and Casey began texting around the clock. He had to make this woman his, so he called things off with June. He and Casey were in the "talking" stages and not committed to each other at that time, but he only wanted her. If he was going to pursue her with gusto, he didn't want any other entanglements.
So he never slept with June after meeting Casey, though they still talked. Also, Tobias & Casey never slept together at this time, though not for lack of trying. They had a few instances of coitus interruptus, and then he suggested they wait (rather than go at it in the car or something tawdry) because he had a feeling they were going to share something special, and she agreed. Then, Stephanie happened.
Casey was furious and quai-ended things. Telling him don't call; she needed time. Next, she steals Farruggia and learns about him and June in the process. They were over by that point, but he couldn't "prove" it to her, and given his shady behavior, she couldn't take him at face value. Even if he could have proven it, she still felt she should have been told he was with her co-worker just before they met. So Casey dumped him ceremoniously and did not look back.
He continued pining for her, and, to her dismay, her feelings for him weren't dying, even though she wasn't acting on them. She had a momentary lapse where she swiped left after he did on tinder. But she regretted it instantly and was not going to see him again. All that did is gave Tobias false hope.
Then the attack happened...
Tobias was frantic, and he blamed himself. He worked like a man possessed to save her. Her friends, June and Ethan, were stunned to see how much he cared. After she was recovering, Sienna told her about the fight to save her, including Tobias's role. And June told her (unsolicited) that Tobias had ended things with her months before.
Casey woke up from a nap and found him sitting at the side of her bed. She thanked him, they had a talk, and she agreed to allow him back into her life... as a friend... and nothing more.
In the months that followed, Casey went through hell. Tobias was there for her without fail. Those who loved her told him they'd find his body scattered amount several states if he took advantage of her, but he never did. He was in love with her, but he was so glad she survived, he was willing to take friendship alone... as long as she was here.
As she healed, their friendship strengthened, and there was an indescribable bond between them. By the time he and Casey get together for good, he has more than proven how much she meant to him. And their friendship was a strong foundation to build something more.
So, even in the throughs of PTSD, my girl still knew her self-worth and honored it. Would he have gotten another chance had the attack not occurred? It is highly unlikely (and since I'm the writer, I'm saying no).
I hope that long-ass answer clears things up. lol
