It is raining and I am trying to get Daughters big star quilt dry. I don’t have a dryer and I doubt it would fit in one anyway. I have the fire on because it is cold so killing two birds with one stone. OMG I am over posting from my phone. I’ll be back in a mo to finish off this story for you. Sorry about that, so where was I, oh yes yesterday. Daughter was taking a shower and her glass shower door shattered. No rhyme nor reason it just shatter into a million pieces that rained down on her; covering her in tiny and some not so tiny cuts. She managed to extract herself and text me for help. Fortunately I was working from home too and had just stepped out of my shower but had my Garmin sitting on the vanity and so I got her message straight away so I grabbed the first aid kit chucked on some clothes and jumped on my bike and rode flat out to her place to render assistance and first aid. It took us most of the morning to sort her and clear up her bathroom and remove the blood stains from her carpet. The quilt also was in the firing line so I brought it home to wash, thankfully it has washed up beautifully and most thankfully Daughter did not sustain any serious injuries.

A… friend??? Acquaintance? (It’s complicated) Just dropped some incredible information on me, as like, a semi-casual update to a very serious situation, the only thing is I did not know about it at all. She 1000% has not told me, because I swear by all the gods ever dreamt up by humanity, I’d have remembered this. It is not “my mother has a knee operation” personal events energy, where I could conceivably have forgotten due to my own self absorption, it’s “my kidnapper had to have his arm amputated” level when you didn’t know about the kidnapping in the first place. I have zero idea of how to respond because it is so wildly out of left-field. It is like, satirical comedy levels of “what the fuck”. Do I try to go along with it. Do I ask follow up questions. Will she be offended. I swear this does not fit into my mental timeline of events in her life whatsoever. What’s the procedure here.

Had a dream where Johnny from “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” came out as a trans woman and the response was so unanimously positive it reversed nearly all of the transphobic bills in the South. She played live in Georgia to an audience of about a third of the US.

I was hanging out at the karaoke bar, chatting with a beautiful woman, and we were really hitting it off. I threw a couple of flirtatious comments her way. She giggled nervously, but abruptly stopped and looked at the floor.

She told me that she was too nervous to hit on people because she's trans and worries that people will view her as a predator and that she might get hurt.

My heart sank. I let her know that she could hit on me in whatever way she wanted and I would LOVE it. We spent the rest of the night hanging out and flirting. We ended up making out. It was great.

But I can't stop thinking about how that wasn't the first time a trans woman has said that to me. About how unsafe it is for some women that they feel the need to give out fucking disclaimers to have normal interactions with people.

We have GOT to make the world a safer place for trans women. It pisses me off that there are men at the bar who are openly predatory towards me without fear of consequence, yet a trans woman is too scared to even fucking call me pretty. And that's because she IS more likely to face worse consequences for lesser things! Like what the fuck!

You need to always check on your internalized biases. Being queer yourself doesn't absolve you of transmisogynistic thoughts and behaviors. Being bi/pansexual doesn't mean you don't hold those biases either! If you feel differently about a trans woman hitting on you than you feel about a cis woman or a man hitting on you, you need to evaluate that.

Trans women, I love you so fucking much. You should be able to express attraction and love as freely as everyone else. I hope you can always feel safe around me. And I'll never stop fighting until you can feel safe period.
