I think Dazai is the kind of person who is incredibly toxic if you let them but can be a good person to have around if you deal with him correctly? Like, Chuuya and Kunikida both know you can’t just put up with his bs or take him to seriously but they get irritated to easily and it causes problems for them. Akutagawa deals with him the worst by just rolling over and letting Dazai walk all over him. But Atsushi, Oda, and to a certain degree Ango and Ranpo have dealing with Dazai down. They know when to just go with his bs cause it’s harmless, when to show compassion, when to straight up call him out, and when to just give him space. Dazai is such a volatile person, and he doesn’t have any real control over his emotions because he refuses to admit he has them. It takes a special kind of calm and easygoing person to get along with him. He’s the kind of person who it takes effort to get along with but won’t put much effort in themselves. Which admittedly isn’t fair in a relationship but he can make up for it in other ways.

I can’t tell if Jamie was being sarcastic or not the first time around but I like to think that he genuinely thought Coach Beard might have a crush on him. Jamie literally says in the 2nd clip that he has no idea what goes on in Beard’s mind at any given point in time. So Jamie might actually be think “he might have a crush on me” but he would have no way of knowing. And he definitely would never ask. Even in the second clip, he says the reason they’re not having sex is that Beard isn’t Jamie’s type. Which implies that if he was Jamie’s type they would be having sex… Which is just so…. Jamie of him.

Anyways I take this as proof that Jamie has no qualms about fucking his coaches so long as they’re his type. And his type is Roy. Therefore Jamie and Roy are fucking.

So I was thinking about Miguel's obsession with cannon events and had the random thought that he's like a comics writer. It made me chuckle but then I thought more about it more and had a sort of mini spiral. Rambling text post with spoilers below the cut. Also I totally over analyzed the movie which is not what I pictured myself doing today.

It is a principle that the original Spider-Man always loses in the comics. When Spider-Man was created there was the idea of a superhero with personal problems. In other words with Peter it's one step forward two steps back, always. The kicker is writers have rehashed certain ideas/stories with the other Spider-People including the trend of losing someone important. So I realized that if you tilt your head and look at it that way Miles and Miguel were both right.

Miles says it's possible to do both. He can have his family and have Spider-Man which is true it's happened before. But Miguel screams that it's impossible because the cannon won't allow it. It hurts because he's right most of the time the web of fate (writers) wouldn't let it happen.

So Miguel forms a group to maintain the web of fate by ensuring cannon events take place. Meanwhile Miles fights the idea that his life has to be full of tragedy. They clash but none of it matters because they are fictional characters with no say in what happens to them because an outside force makes it happen. Which is honestly on brand for a movie that is a comicbook love letter especially one focused on the essence of Spider-Man.
