yk what ima just say it. what the fuck is up with all these sturniolo tumblr account fucking complaining. all some of yall do is sit here and talk about everything they’re doing wrong or what they’re not doing. they don’t owe us any content. they don’t have to post videos for us. so be fucking grateful that we’re getting any content at all and stop complaining about not getting enough. i don’t blame them for wanting to cut wednesday videos or them getting rid of the intro.
“they took away the shitty intro and blamed fans for it” MAYBE BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE INTRO. YOU COMPLAINED SO THEY TOOK IT AWAY. people like yall are the ones who ruined it for them and us fans who enjoy what they’re putting out. they are 20 year old men who started doing youtube for fun and just so happened to blow up. let them have fun sitting in their car bickering with each other instead of complaining that they put too little effort into it. and the fact it’s sturniolo accounts complaining makes it even fucking worse. why have a account for them if you don’t even like them in the first place.
“if they weren’t attractive they wouldn’t be nearly as famous as they are now” the fact you even say that shows that you only like them because their hot and not because of their content. what i find so funny is when they started becomin famous and moving to LA yall complained that their content was too professional but now it’s not professional enough. yall really cant be pleased can you. also just cause they mentioned twitch prime subs in their stream and was thanking everyone does not make them money hungry. it makes them decent fucking human beings who are grateful they are where they are.
“they played fortnite when no one asked them to” IT WAS THEIR DAMN STREAM. they don’t have to do anything we ask. yall all have been BEGGING for them to bring back the twitch streams and now that they did it’s a damn problem. yall are upset that they want to take wednesday videos away but when they do a THREE+ hour stream instead that’s a fucking problem.
“they keep promising bigger and better things but they never come” yall have no clue what they have planned. they could have so much stuff planned that’s just taking a while. or maybe not. maybe they’re bring back old sturniolo triplet videos just like yall wanted. but let me guess that’s not good enough either.
anyways what i’m trying to say is they’re not money hungry, they don’t hate their fans, they’re not using us they’re simply doing what they can to try and please everyone but when it’s impossible to please yall it’s kinda difficult. if u don’t like their content don’t fucking watch it but quit being a fake fan and delete your account please and thank you.
if you think this is aimed you… well it probably is. anyways bye yall that’s all i have to say

There have been many myths throughout the course of human history that tried to explain the concept of soulmates. From Greece to Japan, tales have been told of two humans connected by fate. Either by soul or string, there is a profound bond that cannot be explained. Nobody really knew where soulmates came from or how they were created. You certainly didn’t.
All that was known was until you met your soulmate you wouldn’t see what they called color. You weren’t entirely sure what color was. You’d tried to understand it, you’d tried listening to people who had met their soulmate explain what it was. But their explanations never really made sense. You knew certain “colors” could be found in certain things. Like how apparently the sky was something called blue which supposedly was beautiful.
The world you knew, the world most people knew, was only in shades of black and white. Finding one’s soulmate was a rare occurrence that few had the luxury of experiencing. It was like winning the lottery, although some experts argued you had better luck with the powerball. Because of this you didn’t give your soulmate much thought. As wonderful as the idea sounded, you didn’t want to be one of those people who threw their lives away as soon as they turned 18 in pursuit of something so fantastical. After all, you didn’t need a soulmate to find love. Plenty of people had lived fulfilling lives full of love without ever meeting their soulmate.
No, you refused to get caught up in something so improbable. Instead you put your focus on your work and your friends.
Art was your calling. Most artists, unless they had found their soulmate, stuck to the monochromatic color scheme of black and white. But even though you couldn’t see the colors, you used them. Finding colored paint was not any easy task. With so few people being able to see the differing colors the market for it was almost nonexistent. But so was the audience for your paintings. The soul-matched, as they were called, seemed to flock to your work, always intrigued that as an unmatched you not only used colors, but used them for portraits of the matched.
It had started just as an experiment. Something you wanted to try for your soul-matched friends Robin and Nancy for their anniversary. Eventually word spread to the other matched, and you began creating commissions for them. It wasn’t exactly something you could make a living on with such a niche crowd but you enjoyed it, and you took other commissions in order to actually make money. But those portraits were your favorite to create.
Your best friend and roommate Chrissy was your biggest supporter. Even if she couldn’t understand how someone who wasn’t interested in finding their soulmate worked so hard for the soul-matched.
“Just think of where you could take your art if you could actually see the colors!” She said, sitting across from you at the little table you and your friends frequented at the local cafe. Your other friends Nancy and Robin were with you. Both of them were listening intently as you all enjoyed your usual brunch.
“I don’t think that’s a very good reason to try to find my soulmate. Shouldn’t I look for them for the sake of finding them?” You asked with a raised brow as you took a sip of your coffee, peering over the rim of the mug to her.
Chrissy shook her head with a slight smile, “Well…yeah. But how else am I going to convince you to try?” She retorted, making you chuckle. “Why don’t you want to at least try and find the one person you’re destined to be with?”
“How do you know its destiny?”
“Because it…because it is!” Chrissy huffed.
Ever the hopeless romantic, Chrissy had been looking for her soulmate for as long as you’d known her. She’d tell you in detail what she wanted him to be like. So much so that you wondered if Chrissy had already met him.
“Lay off her Chris,” Robin piped in. “She’s not interested. Besides, you don’t need to find your soulmate to find love. None of our parents were soulmates.”
“Sue me for wanting me and all my friends to find their perfect person!” She laughed.
“I think you can find your perfect person even if they aren’t your soulmate,” Nancy shrugged.
“Easy for you to say,” Chrissy scoffed. “You met yours!”
Robin and Nancy shared a loving glance, their hands entwining from where they laid on the table. Even if you never found your soulmate you always considered yourself lucky to know people who had. Watching Nancy and Robin fall in love had been a beautiful thing to witness. It made sense for anyone who had seen the way Nancy and Robin loved each other to want that same thing. You couldn’t blame Chrissy for craving such a thing. But that kind of love was rare.
“What about that guy you’ve been talking to?” You asked Chrissy. “What are you going to do when you meet him in person and he turns out to not be your soulmate?”
Chrissy froze, her big eyes staring at you. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat and the guilt from your words washed over you. “I’m sorry Chris I didn’t–”
“No it’s okay,” she shook her head. “You’re right. He might not be. If he isn’t I’ll…I’ll keep looking.”
You frowned at that, but didn’t say anything. For months Chrissy had been talking to and about Steve. She had “met” him through the dating app Soul Seekers, an app that claimed they could find your perfect soulmate with the help of their soulmate gurus. It always seemed like a scam to you, but you saw how happy Steve made Chrissy. Even if they hadn’t met in person. They stuck to talking on the phone and texting, never video chatting. They’d never seen each other's faces. It was by design, so that when the users of Soul Seekers met their supposed soulmates for the first time they’d get the full experience. But you worried for her. You didn’t want her to be disappointed when it turned out he wasn’t the one.
It had happened before and you wondered how many times it would happen before she gave up on love entirely.

Eddie had never believed in any of the soulmate “bullshit.” He thought it was all made up, a fairytale that had been concocted to sell dating apps, regiments to help you attract your soulmate to you, and other various monetizations. He believed that these “colors” weren’t an indicator of fate. They were just a phenomenon that happened to some people.
They happened to him, once.
He’d traveled the country. He’d met thousands of people. Yet the one time he met someone he thought was his soulmate, she rejected him. Insisting that it couldn’t be true. Just as soon as the colors appeared they were gone, and so was she.
He tried not to think about her. He tried not to think about the colors of her. But every once in a while his mind slipped back to that place. To that bar. To that moment where his drink met her dress, their eyes locked, and suddenly the world around him changed. It only lasted for a few minutes. But those measly minutes were the most beautiful he had ever witnessed. Until it was ripped away from him.
So it had to be a lie. Otherwise the colors would have stayed. Otherwise she would have stayed.
He instead chose to focus on his music, his band. Corroded Coffin was finally starting to make a name for themselves. They were on a break from their tour for their newest album for a few months before they started their South American leg. In their downtime they stayed in Chicago. It was only a few hours away from their hometown, giving them a chance to visit their families if they wanted to without having to stay in the hellhole they deemed Hawkins to be.
As soon as they got off the plane, Jeff and Artie’s girlfriends met them both at the gate. The two girls practically lept into their arms. Eddie might have been a cynic when it came to soulmates, but seeing the way his friends lit up when they saw the people they loved most was enough to warm even his usual icy exterior. To him it was just further proof that soulmates were bullshit. Here were two of his best friends, in love and happy with two women that were perfect for them and yet there was still no color.
What truer love could there be?
“Looks like it’s just us Gare Bear,” Eddie said, slinging his arm over Gareth's shoulder.
“Speak for yourself Munson,” a deep voice spoke up from behind them. They both turned to see Gareth’s boyfriend, Paul. Pushing Eddie away, Gareth enveloped his boyfriend in a tight hug. Whispering affections to each other that Eddie couldn’t hear.
As the couples all reunited Eddie stood on the sidelines, watching their tender kisses and squeezing embraces. A front man on the stage but a bystander in life. He was the only member that wanted them to keep going. No stops before the next leg, just straight to the next thing. To the next show, to the next crowd. Forever moving. But his bandmates weren’t like that. They had put down roots in this city. They had found a home there.
Music might have been their life, but it wasn’t what kept them going.
While all the couples went to their respective homes to continue their long awaited reunions Eddie went to see his friend Steve. Having not seen his best friend in months, he was expecting to be welcomed with open arms. Maybe a celebratory beer. But then maybe he should have at least called first.
“Eddie, what are you doing here?” Steve asked when he opened the door to see the metalhead with his sunken tired eyes and a duffel bag slung over his shoulder.
“On break before the next leg,” Eddie replied as if it was obvious as he slinked past Steve into his apartment.
“Why aren’t you at your place?” Steve turned, watching as Eddie threw his bag on his couch and then went to his fridge to scavenge through it. Making himself right at home. As he always did.
“Thought I’d give Gare and Paul some alone time. I love the guy but there are just some things you don’t need to know about your bandmates,” Eddie chuckled as he started his search, looking for anything to eat or drink for his rumbling stomach. But his friend seemed to have a different taste then him, his fridge packed with fresh fruits and veggies. “Do you have any beer? Pizza?”
“Ed,” Steve sighed, exasperated. “I appreciate you stopping by and I’m really happy you’re back but you could have at least called first if you wanted to stay here.”
Eddie paused, pulling his head out the fridge and looked at his friend. “Do you want me to go?”
If there was one thing Steve knew about Eddie Munson it was that he had mastered the art of the puppy dog eyes. His big round eyes were designed for it and his mouth knew how to shape the most subtle yet perfect pout.
“No,” He relented. “You can stay.”
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
A dashing smile.
Big kind eyes.
The face of a man you’d never seen before.
He kept appearing in your dreams. You’d see him amongst a crowd of people, but before you could reach him he would be gone. At first you assumed it didn’t mean anything. But then it just kept happening.
By the third night you needed to know what it meant. Most of the sources you could find online claimed that you must have seen him at some point and you didn’t remember but your subconscious did. But then you found an article from a few years ago from someone who claimed they had seen their soulmate in their dreams before they met them. You weren’t sure whether to believe it or not. There were a lot of things online about people claiming fantastical things about their soulmates, like one person who claimed that they astral projected into their soulmates home but they could never find it, or them, afterwards. So you chose not to dwell on it. Pushing it to the back of your mind where it couldn’t pester you.
A week went by and the dreams persisted.
You kept trying the age old trick of going back to that same dream every time you woke up, but it never worked. You couldn’t get his face off your mind no matter how hard you tried. He consumed your thoughts.
Usually, when you found your thoughts to be too overwhelming you would paint. But that only led you to painting his face. Over and over again. The contours and shape of it were etched into your mind. You struggled to paint or draw any other. Every brush stroke, every scribble, led back to him. You never showed anyone these works. Especially not Chrissy. Your friends would only pester you to go out and find him. It scared you. Putting faith in the universe in this way was not something you did often. You weren’t sure if you could trust it.
One day while you were frantically scribbling another sketch of him there was a knock on your door. You quickly tried to hide it all away, tucking it under other loose papers before you went to answer it.
Your friend Jonathan smiled at you as he stood in your doorway. He gave you a confused look as he took in your disheveled appearance, hair a mess and hands and clothes covered in paint and ink from when you were working on another project before you got distracted by that pestering face.
“Did you forget about lunch?” Jonathan laughed softly. He was very used to you getting lost in your work, often leading you to forget about plans.
“No, no,” you said frantically. “We can go!” You went to grab your shoes when he stopped you by putting a gentle hand on your shoulder.
“Do you want to clean up a bit first Picasso?” He asked, gesturing to your paint splattered overalls.
“Right, right. Come in, I'll be quick.”
As you dashed to your bedroom to make yourself presentable, Jonathan meandered around the small room you had turned into your studio. You never minded when he did it before. He often enjoyed seeing what you were working on. As he looked, he spotted something peculiar. Your sketchbook was under a pile of papers. It was usually out, always available in case an idea came to your mind. Assuming you had misplaced it, he plucked it from the pile. It was open to a sketch he hadn’t seen before of a man's face and as he flipped through that same man’s face kept appearing.
You washed up quickly, scrubbing your hands clean and changing your clothes into something that looked less like you had a fight with a bucket of paint and lost. As soon as you were done you went to find Jonathan. When you saw what he had in his hands you rushed over and swiped it from his grasp.
“Who is that?” He asked, jumping at the suddenness of your actions.
“No one it’s–” You sighed, taking a seat on a nearby stool as your fingers traced the drawn jawline. “I think it’s my soulmate.”
“Your soulmate? You’ve met him? When–”
“No, no I…I dreamt of him,” You looked up from the sketch to see Jonathan's perplexed face.
“You dreamt…oh. Wow. I didn’t know that was possible,” He shook his head in disbelief, striding over to look over your shoulder at the drawing once more. “He’s handsome.”
“Yeah,” You nodded. “But I…what if I’m wrong?”
“Then you’re wrong,” he shrugged. He saw your shoulders slump at his words. “Or you’re right! Can’t be sure until you meet him.”
That was what scared you. This strange man was supposedly your perfect person. The one your soul was matched to. But what if you weren’t what he expected? Your soulmate was the person who was supposed to bring color to your life. But what if your colors were too dull for him?
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Eddie was only supposed to stay with Steve for a day or two while Gareth and Paul became re-acquainted. But it had been a week since he showed up at his place. Eddie wasn’t sure what would have been worse, going back to his apartment and having to witness Gareth and Paul’s constant canoodling, or staying with Steve and listening to him go on and on about the girl he had met on that stupid scam of a dating app.
He was happy for his friends. He was. Ecstatic for Gareth who coming out was a challenge for, and for Steve who dreamed of meeting his soulmate. But he would be lying if he said their happiness didn’t leave a bitter taste in his mouth.
He’d tried dating after her. But no matter how hard he tried he was never able to find anyone that clicked just right. He was still searching for that feeling from when he first saw the colors. That shiver that went up his spine. That thrum in his nerves that made his hair stand to attention, the line of goosebumps that climbed up his arm.
It was the same feeling he got when he performed. That rush was something he craved. Every night for the last few months he never went without it. Being without it now, even for a week, was difficult.
Steve noticed the way Eddie seemed to mope around. Strumming aimlessly at his guitar and staring deadeyed at his phone as he watched old performances online. He needed to get out. To stretch his legs, breathe some fresh air or something.
“Hey Ed?” Steve called out to him from his bedroom.
“Yeah?” Eddie responded, voice monotone as his thumb continued to scroll.
Steve poked his head out of his room, adjusting the collar of his polo as he approached the lounging man. “You want to go out tonight? I have a date tonight with that girl I told you about, I could use some moral support.”
Eddie looked up from his phone then, looking at his friend dressed in a nice shirt and his favorite jeans with his hair purposely tousled just right.
“You’re really meeting her? Tonight?” He asked surprised.
“Yeah, I told you. Remember?”
“Right, right but…shit. Okay yeah I’ll come,” Eddie quickly got up from the couch giving Steve’s shoulder a squeeze when he went past him to freshen up in the bathroom.
It wasn’t Eddie’s ideal way to spend a night. But he had seen the way Steve had hurt when these things didn’t work out for him. He didn’t want that for him, so despite his own apprehension he agreed.
What he didn’t see was the way Steve smiled softly to himself in victory, hoping that perhaps Chrissy had a friend for Eddie. Someone who could melt his hardened heart.
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Chrissy was freaking out. Her room had succumbed to utter chaos as she practically threw all the clothes she owned onto her bed in search of the perfect outfit. You, Nancy and Robin had tried to calm her. Offering her words of gentle reassurance. But her nerves consumed her. It worried you to see her putting so much pressure on herself. Chrissy was one of the best people you knew and if Steve couldn’t see that then it was his loss, and what a loss that would be.
“Which one?” She asked, holding up two dresses. You were sure you had already seen them, but you didn’t say that.
“Left,” You, Robin and Nancy all said in sync hoping she’d just pick one and be done with it.
“I like the right one,” Jonathan piped in. The three of you quickly turned your heads to glare at him, he stuck his hands up in surrender as he mouthed an apology while Chrissy turned back to her almost empty closet.
Chrissy had invited Nancy over to help her get ready and wherever Nancy went, Robin wasn’t far behind. Then when Jonathan learned the four of you would all be at your apartment, he tagged along claiming that his buddy Argyle was busy so he had no other place to be.
But knowing Jonathan, you knew he just wanted to be included. You were happy to do so. As long as he stopped, unintentionally, foiling your plans to get Chrissy to relax.
“Chris,” Nancy said softly as she stood from where she was perched on Chrissy’s bed. She carefully made her way over to her, putting her hands on her shoulders. “Why don’t I pick something out for you?”
Chrissy sighed in defeat and nodded, sitting beside you on the bed. She laid her head on your shoulder while Nancy looked through her closet.
“He’s gonna love you,” you whispered to her. “It’s impossible not to.” The corners of her lips rose in a slight smile as she hugged you from the side. “Maybe…” She lifted her head to turn and look at you, a hopeful gleam to her eyes. “Maybe you could come with me? Be my get out of jail free card?” She suggested.
“I don’t know…”
“Steve has a friend! He’s a muscian! It can be a double date.”
“I think it’s a little last minute Chris–”
Nancy cut off the conversation as she turned to the group, holding up a sleek off the shoulder dress. “How about this?” She asked.
“That’s pretty!” You nudged Chrissy.
“Yeah…” she said hesitantly. “But will Steve like it?”
“If he doesn’t then he doesn’t have taste,” Robin replied, grabbing the dress from Nancy and tossing it to Chrissy. “Get dressed so Nance can do your hair. You’re not the only one with plans tonight.”
“That’s my cue,” Jonathan rose from the bed and left her room so she could change. “Thanks Jonny!” Chrissy called out to him as he shut the door behind him, waving at her in acknowledgment. As Chrissy dressed, Nancy gathered what she needed to do her hair. You could still feel the nerves vibrating off of Chrissy. You didn’t want her to be disappointed if Steve turned out to not be what she expected. So, being the good friend you were, you caved.
“I’ll go with you,” You sighed.
“Really?” Chrissy asked excitedly, stumbling slightly as she tried to put on a pair of heels. “I’ll text Steve!”
You hoped you wouldn’t regret it. You didn’t understand why but you had a sinking feeling in your stomach about tonight.
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
The bar was crowded, the scent of beer and sweat was heavy in the air. Some cheesy love song played over the speaker, the singer droning on about losing their lover. The two men sat in a booth with Steve facing towards the entrance. His eyes were trained on it as he anxiously waited for his date's arrival.
“Excited?” Eddie said teasingly as he watched his friend's foot tap incessantly.
“What if…what if I’m not what she's expecting?” Steve looked at him, his face twisted in worry.
“Then clearly she has no taste,” Eddie stated matter of factly. “You’re a catch Stevie. If you were into dudes I’d be all over you.”
Steve laughed, his body easing slightly. Eddie smiled at having provided his friend with some comfort.
“What is this girl's name anyway?” He asked.
“I haven’t told you? It’s Chrissy.”
“Wait, Chrissy?”
The bar door opened and Steve’s head whipped in the direction of it, no longer paying any mind to Eddie or what he was saying. Chrissy entered the establishment with you in tow. The skirt Chrissy insisted you wore was tighter than you usually enjoyed and you kept adjusting it, trying to make it more comfortable. You and Chrissy scanned the bar in search of your dates when your eyes suddenly landed on a familiar face and your eyes met.
The man from your dreams was right in front of you and then…
Colors.
Colors as far as the eye could see. Everywhere. They came to the forefront of your vision like ink bleeding into paper.
He smiled widely, both in shock and joy as he waved you over, “Chrissy!” He shouted. Chrissy turned to him and quickly made her way over, embracing him in a tight hug. He looked down at her confused, then back at you for only a moment before he brought his attention back to her. You hesitantly made your way over, your eyes strained on him trying to not get distracted by just how colorful the world had become, and to not give away how it had changed.
Chrissy introduced you to Steve but you couldn’t hear a word she was saying. You felt like you were drowning, her words gargling in your ears as you looked at the man before him. The same freckles and moles you had been drawing incessantly were now within an arm's reach.
But he was looking at Chrissy.
“Your eyes are so…wow,” he breathed. Chrissy blushed, you saw the color rising in her cheeks and you couldn’t help but stare as it did.
“Thank you,” She said softly, her voice syrupy sweet as she looked up at him in adoration.
You felt like you were going to throw up.
Eddie was just as frozen as you were, staring at Chrissy. The girl that had made all the colors disappear. He always wondered if he saw her again if they would return, but they didn’t.
She met his eyes and her body stiffened as recognition swiped across her features.
“I can’t believe it’s you,” Steve was grinning so widely you thought his smile would split his face in half.
Chrissy shook her head, trying to snap herself out of it after seeing Eddie’s face again. “I know! It’s so good to finally see your face!” She responded gleefully.
“No I mean…the colors,” He gestured around them, but Chrissy only looked at him in confusion. Then his eyes widened in horror as he realized and he turned to you.
“You,” Eddie pointed at Chrissy. He didn’t want to believe it.
She was here. Right here in front of him, and she was Steve’s girl. The same girl he had been gushing over. The same girl that had brought his friend so much happiness.
Steve looked to Eddie, begging for help with his eyes to his friend. When it clicked for Eddie what was happening he returned that same look of horror.
“I-I don’t understand,” Chrissy frowned.
“The colors,” Steve said. “I-I can see them.” He stared back at you and you felt as though you couldn’t move. You couldn’t breathe.
“Colors? What–” Chrissy looked at you then, and it all snapped into place.
“Yeah the colors. You remember those don’t you Chrissy?” Eddie snapped.
“What are you–” Steve started to say but you cut him off.
“Okay everyone just…just stop for a minute please,” You pleaded. You needed to get your thoughts together. It was too much. It was all too much. The three of them all looked at you, as if you had the answers. But you didn’t. You were just as baffled as the rest of them.
“What does he mean you remember the colors?” Steve looked to Chrissy.
Her mouth opened like she was going to say something, but it closed quickly.
“Chrissy and I have met before,” Eddie explained. “Last summer in Miami–”
“Eddie please–” She begged, but he continued on.
“We saw the colors. I thought we were soulmates. But apparently I wasn’t good enough for her, and they disappeared.”
“No that’s not–” Chrissy sighed frustrated. “Yes we met. But we’re not…it was just a fluke. If it wasn't, the colors wouldn’t have disappeared!”
“What is he talking about Chris?” You turned to Chrissy, confusion and pain laced in your words. In all the time you’ve known her she never told you. She was always looking, searching, hoping, to find her soulmate. But she already had.
“Look, remember when I visited my aunt in Miami? Well I met Eddie there and I thought he was it. But it didn’t…it didn’t feel right. Your soulmate is supposed to be your perfect person and he’s not—“ she cut herself off for a moment and as you glanced at Eddie you saw the pain in his eyes as she spoke. “—and then the colors went away so I knew that it wasn’t true.”
As the words left her mouth all Eddie heard was that he wasn’t good enough. He wasn’t right. He was too imperfect. Too loud. Too brash. Too opinionated. Too weird. Too much and simultaneously not enough.
Steve looked at you then, “Do you see them?” He asked. You could only nod, not able to meet your best friend's eyes any more.
Chrissy’s face twisted in hurt as she looked between you and Steve. Her best friend and the man she had fallen for. Soulmates.
“Hurts, doesn’t it?” Eddie asked Chrissy, his voice laced with disdain for her.
“Shut up Eddie!” Steve snarled. He turned back to Chrissy and took her hands in his. “Look I…I don’t care,” he began, his face softening as he looked down at the woman before him. “I don’t care if I don’t see the colors with you. These last few months I…I fell in love with you. I love you. I don’t care what the stupid universe says, I want you.”
They kissed, and it burned you. Like a fire poker straight out of the flames, stabbing through your chest, piercing your very soul. All those years of not even entertaining the idea of finding your soulmate and yet you did, only for him to choose someone else. It was unheard of. Nobody who actually found their soulmates rejected them...right?
You didn’t even know Steve. But having your worst fear come true right before your eyes made your heart snap in two.
Your colors weren’t bright enough for him after all.
You couldn’t stay there. You couldn’t watch them together. So you ran. Chrissy called your name, but you didn’t hear her.
Steve turned to Eddie only to meet his friends stare, icy and cold. “Eddie–” he started to say. But he didn’t want to hear it. So he turned on his heel and left.
Eddie didn’t go home. He wasn’t sure where he could go. Steve’s place was out of the question and the last thing he needed was to be around the lovebirds Gareth and Paul. Instead, he found another bar. He sat in the corner, alone, and drank away. Getting lost in the bottle in hopes of forgetting her face, Steve’s face and even yours.
The pain in it reflected his own and he wanted to erase the memory of it from his mind. He wanted to eradicate all memory of the colors, of that feeling, of the time he believed in soulmates and sought his own out. He was young and naive then. He’d never make that mistake again.
By the morning he would call his manager and ask him to cut the break short. He’d be back on the road and out of this city. Far away from the messy disaster it had all become. Far away from all talk of soulmates and fate and colors. He’d disappear into the music for a few more months.
Only this time he hoped he could stay gone. For good.
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
You had walked for a block with your arms hugged around yourself. Not sure of where you could go, you sat on the curb. Cars whizzed by you, but you paid them no mind as tears poured from your eyes. The pavement was cold and scratchy under your thighs as you hid your face in your hands and cried.
He didn’t want you. You should have expected it. He wasn’t yours, he was Chrissy’s. You didn’t even know him.
So then why did it burn?
As you lifted your head up from your hands and wiped your tears you looked around at the bright night of the city before you. The colors were gone. Just as quickly as they had appeared they were gone again, and your sobs filled the silence of the night.

Hello! First, I wanted to say thank you for your post about updating software and such. I really appreciated your perspective as someone with ADHD. The way you described your experiences with software frustration was IDENTICAL to my experience, so your post made a lot of sense to me.
Second, (and I hope my question isn't bothering you lol) would you mind explaining why it's important to update/adopt the new software? Like, why isn't there an option that doesn't involve constantly adopting new things? I understand why they'd need to fix stuff like functional bugs/make it compatible with new tech, but is it really necessary to change the user side of things as well?
Sorry if those are stupid questions or they're A Lot for a tumblr rando to ask, I'd just really like to understand because I think it would make it easier to get myself to adopt new stuff if I understand why it's necessary, and the other folks I know that know about computers don't really seem to understand the experience.
Thank you so much again for sharing your wisdom!!
A huge part of it is changing technologies and changing norms; I brought up Windows 8 in that other post and Win8 is a *great* example of user experience changing to match hardware, just in a situation that was an enormous mismatch with the market.
Win8's much-beloathed tiles came about because Microsoft seemed to be anticipating a massive pivot to tablet PCs in nearly all applications. The welcome screen was designed to be friendly to people who were using handheld touchscreens who could tap through various options, and it was meant to require more scrolling and less use of a keyboard.
But most people who the operating system went out to *didn't* have touchscreen tablets or laptops, they had a desktop computer with a mouse and a keyboard.
When that was released, it was Microsoft attempting to keep up with (or anticipate) market trends - they wanted something that was like "the iPad for Microsoft" so Windows 8 was meant to go with Microsoft Surface tablets.
We spent the first month of Win8's launch making it look like Windows 7 for our customers.
You can see the same thing with the centered taskbar on Windows 11; that's very clearly supposed to mimic the dock on apple computers (only you can't pin it anywhere but the bottom of the screen, which sucks).
Some of the visual changes are just trends and various companies trying to keep up with one another.
With software like Adobe I think it's probably based on customer data. The tool layout and the menu dropdowns are likely based on what people are actually looking for, and change based on what other tools people are using. That's likely true for most programs you use - the menu bar at the top of the screen in Word is populated with the options that people use the most; if a function you used to click on all the time is now buried, there's a possibility that people use it less these days for any number of reasons. (I'm currently being driven mildly insane by Teams moving the "attach file" button under a "more" menu instead of as an icon next to the "send message" button, and what this tells me is either that more users are putting emojis in their messages than attachments, or microsoft WANTS people to put more emojis than messages in their attachments).
But focusing on the operating system, since that's the big one:
The thing about OSs is that you interact with them so frequently that any little change seems massive and you get REALLY frustrated when you have to deal with that, but version-to-version most OSs don't change all that much visually and they also don't get released all that frequently. I've been working with windows machines for twelve years and in that time the only OSs that Microsoft has released were 8, 10, and 11. That's only about one OS every four years, which just is not that many. There was a big visual change in the interface between 7 and 8 (and 8 and 8.1, which is more of a 'panicked backing away' than a full release), but otherwise, realistically, Windows 11 still looks a lot like XP.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second one is a screenshot of my actual computer. The only change I've made to the display is to pin the taskbar to the left side instead of keeping it centered and to fuck around a bit with the colors in the display customization. I haven't added any plugins or tools to get it to look different.
This is actually a pretty good demonstration of things changing based on user behavior too - XP didn't come with a search field in the task bar or the start menu, but later versions of Windows OSs did, because users had gotten used to searching things more in their phones and browsers, so then they learned to search things on their computers.
There are definitely nefarious reasons that software manufacturers change their interfaces. Microsoft has included ads in home versions of their OS and pushed searches through the Microsoft store since Windows 10, as one example. That's shitty and I think it's worthwhile to find the time to shut that down (and to kill various assistants and background tools and stop a lot of stuff that runs at startup).
But if you didn't have any changes, you wouldn't have any changes. I think it's handy to have a search field in the taskbar. I find "settings" (which is newer than control panel) easier to navigate than "control panel." Some of the stuff that got added over time is *good* from a user perspective - you can see that there's a little stopwatch pinned at the bottom of my screen; that's a tool I use daily that wasn't included in previous versions of the OS. I'm glad it got added, even if I'm kind of bummed that my Windows OS doesn't come with Spider Solitaire anymore.
One thing that's helpful to think about when considering software is that nobody *wants* to make clunky, unusable software. People want their software to run well, with few problems, and they want users to like it so that they don't call corporate and kick up a fuss.
When you see these kinds of changes to the user experience, it often reflects something that *you* may not want, but that is desirable to a *LOT* of other people. The primary example I can think of here is trackpad scrolling direction; at some point it became common for trackpads to scroll in the opposite direction that they used to; now the default direction is the one that feels wrong to me, because I grew up scrolling with a mouse, not a screen. People who grew up scrolling on a screen seem to feel that the new direction is a lot more intuitive, so it's the default. Thankfully, that's a setting that's easy to change, so it's a change that I make every time I come across it, but the change was made for a sensible reason, even if that reason was opaque to me at the time I stumbled across it and continues to irritate me to this day.
I don't know. I don't want to defend Windows all that much here because I fucking hate Microsoft and definitely prefer using Linux when I'm not at work or using programs that I don't have on Linux. But the thing is that you'll see changes with Linux releases as well.
I wouldn't mind finding a tool that made my desktop look 100% like Windows 95, that would be fun. But we'd probably all be really frustrated if there hadn't been any interface improvements changes since MS-DOS (and people have DEFINITELY been complaining about UX changes at least since then).
Like, I talk about this in terms of backward compatibility sometimes. A lot of people are frustrated that their old computers can't run new software well, and that new computers use so many resources. But the flipside of that is that pretty much nobody wants mobile internet to work the way that it did in 2004 or computers to act the way they did in 1984.
Like. People don't think about it much these days but the "windows" of the Windows Operating system represented a massive change to how people interacted with their computers that plenty of people hated and found unintuitive.
(also take some time to think about the little changes that have happened that you've appreciated or maybe didn't even notice. I used to hate the squiggly line under misspelled words but now I see the utility. Predictive text seems like new technology to me but it's really handy for a lot of people. Right clicking is a UX innovation. Sometimes you have to take the centered task bar in exchange for the built-in timer deck; sometimes you have to lose color-coded files in exchange for a right click.)

tw: fem reader + harassment towards you + this is solely written for and about me + writing helps me process things + Toji doesn't play around
It was only once in a while that you and Toji preferred to go out and about, date nights consisted of you two staying in and cuddling on the couch with takeout or leftovers with your heads pressed together.
But Toji loved to show you off and he wanted to make sure you were happy and if that meant taking you out to dance the night away while he gets the chance to watch so be it, and it made him feel good knowing that other people wanted you but you were his wife.
Most people just moved out of the way when they saw your husband, he was a hulk of a man, big and broody too. With his broad shoulders, large and bulging biceps you felt protected around him and safe.
Which is something he took very seriously, he knew your past and Toji made a vow to keep you under his protection and in his arms, he was by far the best man you've ever had the pleasure to meet let alone marry, every day you counted your lucky stars for that man.
The club was a bit busier this weekend but you two were able to snag your favorite booth in the far corner smooshed together, knee to knee and heads pressed against each other while he whispers sweet nothings in your ear, pulling out his Mr. Smooth card.
"I'll be right back darlin', you stay right here," Toji murmured in your ear before kissing the patch of skin under your lobe then you watched him work his way to the back of the club to the restrooms.
You knew Toji told you to stay there not to be controlling but he was worried that something would happen and he couldn't be there and as you waited you finished your ice water and wanted more due to the heat from the bodies grinding together creating a furnace.
With a sweep around you didn't see anyone that looked out of place so you slid from the booth and made it the bar in need of something to drink as did Toji so you put in an order for two more ice waters and leaned against the oak watching out for your husband.
"Hey there good looking, are you a parking ticket? Because you’ve got fine written all over you." A man who appeared out of nowhere slid up to you resting one elbow on the edge as he stared at you.
His eyes dropped down taking in your full body with a grin that made your skin crawl, his pickup line made your stomach twist but you heard the horror stories of being rude to men like that so you let out a fake nervous laugh which in turn only spurred the stranger on.
You were stuck between a rock and a hard place, either way, he was intent on making you go with him. "It's rude not to reply." He huffed.
Before you had the chance to say anything he was being lifted off the floor by the collar of his shirt that was beginning to rip. "It's rude to keep pressing a woman for something, especially my wife," Toji growled as the man kicked his feet while squealing like a pig.
Almost everyone now was paying attention to the whole scene. "Now I suggest you apologize." Your husband told him in a tone that brooked no argument as you met his eyes feeling your knees almost give out.
The man uttered an apology while begging to be let down which Toji promptly did, letting go of his shirt. You watched as he scrambled off the floor and scurried out of the building. "Toji-"
You were in his arms being crushed in a hug before he pulled away to look you over. "He's lucky I didn't kill him. Are you okay?" He asked, his eyes gleamed with a mixture of emotions and you could sense the anger that simmered under his skin.
"I am now, let's go home please baby. I love you, thank you thank you." You told him meeting his loving gaze as he cupped your face in his large palms.
"You ain't gotta thank me for taking care of my baby girl, let's get you home and in the shower."
With that, you both left after explaining the situation and a few people were gushing about how Toji stood up for you, but of course, he always will, he is your husband and protector.

i love the idea that ian finally understands he had been making mickey believe he wasn't loved enough for not singing the paper.
he goes to mickey showing a ring and mickey is hopeful but also wary of what is happening, then ian says it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i love ian, but darling, you can be a bit dumb (its okay you are learning)
what could have mickey possibly thought? that ian will marry him cause gallagher keep their promises? that's all to it? is it not because he supposedly loves him and genuinely wants that?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the look on mickey's face as he realises what ian said makes me think that it was the moment mickey fears were ''confirmed''. ian didn't love him enough, of course he wouldn't, why would he? ian bought the promise ring, yes, but he still wouldn't wear it but hang it on his neck where he can hide it, is mickey not it? and then mickey says it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he realises mickey had been thinking ian didn’t love him and that’s it, he tried many times. by coming out, being there during the whole diagnosis, being broken up with but still thinking of him and hoping to be together, thinking he will be with him in mexico and then getting himself back to prison so that he can be with him, support him through all that. but that was it. he didn't have it in him to fight for them anymore, he had the rights to finally put himself first and say ''that's enough''. ‘you don’t love me enough now, and that’s fine, it’s cool.’
but ian fucked up. he now knows that mickey believed he wasn't enough, he wasn't the right one for ian.
it didn't even cross his mind that it could have been a possibility, cause since the diagnosis, ian had been so sure that he wasn't worth of mickey and the pain that comes by being around him, loving him.
so ian thinks : how can you ever be so sure you love me? how can you even possibly be in love with me when i have such disorder that won't make it easy for you? what do you even see in me to think i'm worth all of that?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the only explaination ian can think of for someone like mickey to fight so hard for their relationship to work is that : he's either crazy or he never experienced any other type of relationship before.
cause ian has, ian has dated other people after mickey and none of them loved him. one cheated on him, gaslighting him that it was okay cause it was a chick and not a guy. the other made it a challange for ian to be attracted to him, didn't respect ian when it came to his trauma regarding monica, didn't really care about ian being off his meds, being more concerned that his mania was making him the star of the news and not what trevor really wanted. mickey had never done that, mickey had always been there for ian and he knows that— he knows that mickey is the one he loves and the one that will do anything for him. he broke up with him because he loved mickey too much and wanted him to be free.
being with those people made it impossible for ian to even pretend that mickey wasn't the one he loved and that loved him back.
but mickey? he never had a relationship other than the one with ian, so how could he know that ian is the one if he never dated anyone else? someone ‘normal’, someone that wouldn’t make him worry and watch for his mood swings?
ian is telling mickey that he has a choice to do better— he’s telling him that out there, there’s someone that won’t hurt him, that won’t make mickey think they’re not in love enough to take the big step with him. cause ian knows mickey is everything— but how could mickey know that ian is that for him too?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i love how mickey’s expression changes as ian speaks. it's the moment it hits him that ian loves mickey enough, he loves him too much so that he questions himself just as much, deciding for both of them (once again) what mickey needs and who he shouldn't be with.
and i love that mickey finally understands everything, he understands why ian broke up with him in s5 and tried to move on and pretend mickey wasn’t what he wanted. mickey's first reaction is just to shake his head and say ''jesus christ, ian.''
Tumblr media
and ian looks so confused, he might be thinking : what did i say wrong? i know i am right, you know that this is true. i'm a problem, i'm not worth it, can't you see? but that's mickey’s limit, it was ian’s moment to work on his not worthy of your love shit and realise that it’s all bullshit cause mickey is all in for them. he always has been no matter what.
and mickey knows so well that he can't do anything else to prove it to ian. he straight up tells him the answer to lip's ''figure out why you don't wanna marry him.'' 'cause he doesn't believe he's worth it. but mickey has proved him enough, mickey has told him what's ian true fear is and its not mickey's love for him that will fix it. it was ian's job to work through with it (and he did!! of course he did) back when this episode came out, i was so angry and frustrated about it, i guess growing up makes you see things differently uh?

hii can you do where like the genshin impact boys lovers are like taller than them?
featuring: albedo, alhaitham, ayato, baizhu, cyno, diluc, gorou, itto, kazuha, kaeya, kaveh, tighnari, venti, xiao, zhongli, (separate) tw: light foul language (scattered throughout), mention of violence/fighting (childe), mention of chronic pain/illness (baizhu), haitham is autistic because yeah. type: fluff, sfw, hcs reader: tall, gn, no pronouns, no use of y/n a/n: i was GOING to do literally all of them but i gave up after tighnari sorry i just did NOT have it in me. if you want hcs of this same scenario with different characters, do feel free to request that!
also not using canon heights for this bc they don't . make sense to me so you get mY HEADCANONS. (close to canon at least i promise)
Tumblr media
ALBEDO
not hard to be taller than him tbh, he's like 5'4
i can't see him particularly caring about height in an s/o, rather just personality. if he likes you, he likes you and that's really it, you could look like just about anything
you could be three feet tall and he wouldn't care as long as you were understanding about the unholy hours of the night he has to stay up to in order to do his work
he won't deny the fact that dating someone tall has its advantages, though.
for one example, he finds it particularly difficult when an ingredient he's trying to get to is too far up for him to reach
and yes, he could just summon his geo flower and have it elevator his ass up the tree or whatever, but it's so much more convenient AND so much more comfortable to just have you pick him up so he can get higher
also, it's insanely hot
probably would be into it
DILUC
he's probably just a bit taller than average, i'd place him at about 6' or so
so it's not rare that he meets someone taller than him, it just doesn't happen every day
has no qualms about your height other than he finds it slightly annoying to look up at you when you're having a conversation
it's hard to be intimidating when the person you're talking to is looking down at you with an adoring smile, as you can understand.
other than that, if need be, he has the winery mansion adjusted to suit you
just some basic things like carving a bit out of a doorframe if you're prone to bumping your head on things. nothing too drastic
KAEYA
thinks it's hot
he's kind of a slut for people taller than him, i think. or just a slut in general maybe. either way, thinks it's hot
he's probably just a bit shorter than diluc, maybe at 5'11. diluc won't let him hear the end of it and it pisses him off
looks are the first thing he sees in a person. it isn't nearly the end-all be-all of choosing a partner for him (he really looks for someone with more mental acuity and wit), but it does play the part
being tall helps you with this
is the type to DEFINITELY be able to reach the top shelf and pretend he can't anyway so he can grin at you while you get things for him
asshole
VENTI
did someone say short-ass twink?
he's like 5'3 sorry i don't make the rules. short.
so yeah, again, not hard to be taller than him.
he's so playful about it too
"oh nooooo~ they put the apples all the way on the top shelf so i can't reach them~ whatever shall i do!"
bitch, you can fly. be fr
it doesn't matter. if there's something you can do (even if he can also do it) for him because of his height, he'll bat his eyelashes and flash you a grin so you can't help but show off and do it for him
also makes sharing the bed a hell of a lot more difficult. venti already flails around all over the place, and having someone taller sleeping next to him...? forget about it. you're both waking up on the floor.
Tumblr media
BAIZHU
tall
probably like 6'1, and lanky too
there is no cabinet he can't reach, and besides he has changsheng to slither up in the rare situation that he actually can't reach something
however, the tables are turned on him completely when he's having a flare-up. a lot of the time, if he tries to exert himself reaching for something (or just getting out of bed at all), he'll dissolve into a fit of coughing and have to sit down
this is when having a tall partner really comes in handy, and you're more than happy to get him whatever he needs to help him calm it down
extremely grateful for your help, and lucky that he has you. anytime you get him something, especially when he's not feeling well, he'll thank you and give you a kiss
XIAO
joining the "it's not hard to be taller than him" club at a whopping (not really) FIVE FOOT TWO
bro is SHORT short
this doesn't bother him as much as you think it might. in xiao's own words, "height has little effect on one's ability to fight," and therefore he can protect you and fight for you even despite how small he is
will pretend not to be thankful if you help him with reaching things, but instead sends you a short glance that only you can decipher as being grateful
going out with him is a little bit like walking with a small but on edge dog
ZHONGLI
taller than REX LAPIS?? REX FUCKING LAPIS??? THE LORD OF GEO???
i think in his human form he's about 6'3, but he gets to like 6'8 with his draconic features out. no, i'm not counting his horns, i think he actually grows when he relaxes and stops hiding his features
is impressed that you're taller than him, and, honestly, a little worried about your back
with this tall of a couple, he definitely has to adjust his living situation. for sure has his ceilings raised and doorways sanded so the both of you can fit
walking around liyue harbor with him is a SIGHT. two giant sized folks casually going out for a stroll along the waterfront, enjoying their date as if they aren't big enough for a seagull to accidentally fly into their faces
also likes having you do things for him. he's tall, he can do them himself, but he's lying if he says he doesn't like watching you reach to screw in a lightbulb or the like.
Tumblr media
AYATO
he's probably around 5'11, so he's tall but it's not unusual for someone to be taller than him per se
he's kind of a cheeky lil bastard? he puts everything on ridiculously high shelves on purpose so that he can watch you get them for him
"oh, sorry to trouble you my dear, but it seems the brown sugar is just a few inches out of my reach. could i trouble you to grab it for me?"
"there are like eighteen other different shelves you could have put it on."
"are there? i hadn't noticed! oh, well :)"
also likes to show you off. pulls up to the function (important dignitary meeting) with his tall ass partner
GOROU
little guy! he's probably around 5'4-5'5 so if you're even like average height you're probably a little taller than him
embarrassed about it, almost as much as he is about the whole tail cuddling thing
that isn't to say he doesn't love how gorgeous and tall you are (he does for sure!), he just is a little self-conscious about his own height
he WILL hide behind you if he sees yae miko approach. benefit #1 of having a tall partner: meat shield
also bonus for you: he is a dog, so when he wants you to grab something for him, he'll look up at you with the most adorable puppy eyes you've ever seen
ITTO
good lord you must be insanely tall . i think he's probably around 6'3
the first time he meets you he's blown away. bewildered. incredibly flustered. possibly already in love.
he's used to being the tallest guy around, used to being the big guy in charge. so when he finds you, and has to look up at someone else for a change, he's stupefied (in a good way)
there are no shelves he can ask you to get things from that he can't already reach. instead, he likes to watch you just pick people up
he'll gather some arataki gang members and ask them to stand in a line and have you go back to back with each one just to measure how tall you are compared to other people
he WILL give bear hugs. if you're more lanky, they may break a few bones... so, beware of that
KAZUHA
another almost short-stack, probably around 5'6
he hasn't ever really thought about his height, he isn't insecure about it or anything.
to him, your height is just another thing that he loves about you! he doesn't care much for physical appearance, it's what's inside that counts to him
and once he gets to know you, he finds everything about you stunning!
probably writes poems about how you look standing strong in the wind or something. really he'll write poems about you no matter what.
since you're taller than him, he enjoys being the little spoon. let him recite lines to you while you hold him!
Tumblr media
ALHAITHAM
tall ass guy. prolly around 6'1
is surprised that you're taller than him, but other than that doesn't really care all that much
while he does care for physical traits such as height, he mostly values intelligence and wit, so as long as you can keep up with him in a conversation, you're good enough to date
he has parameters, you understand. you have to fit to a certain standard in a series of specific categories, including age, wit, compatibility....
he might be a little autistic.
my point is, height doesn't really factor in there
still enjoys being the big spoon, even if there's more of you or if you don't quite slot together ideally in that position
it doesn't matter if you're 8 feet tall, this guy Will hold you
CYNO
putting him in around 5'5
despite his small stature, he's a force to be reckoned with. everyone around him knows it, even if he sometimes wishes they didn't care as much
has absolutely no trouble asking you to get things for him if he can't reach them. unbothered king.
this comes less from a place of him not caring about being short and more of a place of him knowing his limitations and understanding when he needs help!
doesn't really care about being shorter than you. well... unless you tease him about being short, then he gets a little miffed. he doesn't mind being the shorter one as long as he isn't just called short
doesn't mind being the little spoon if you suggest it
KAVEH
i wanna say he's about average height, 5'8-5'9 ish!
he's comfortable with his height. he doesn't really think about it very often
that being said, i do think he would be very into someone who's taller than him. i just get those vibes
PLEASE please lean in a doorway and look at him or something. he thinks it's so attractive
probably will ask you to reach up and get things for him just so he can like... poke you in the side??? for no reason?? while you do it
likes to show you off but is also shy about it. will hold your hand when you walk around in public but also really doesn't want anyone to notice. there are two wolves inside of him.
TIGHNARI
I AM A 5'6 TIGHNARI TRUTHER. idk. he gives 5'6 vibes and i don't know why!!!
honestly couldn't give two shits about his height. As long as he can get to the samples he's trying to study, he doesn't care!
Thinks every part of you is stunning, so to him your height is a part of that!
Looks come second to personality to him. This isn't to say he doesn't find you attractive, just that the second he actually starts to like someone all of a sudden oh, they're really pretty actually.
lowkey wants to do like, a family gene chart of you? He wants to learn everything about you, down to where all your different traits come from!

Also just because I've been getting some harassing anons and replies on my post ever since that one self-identified Zionist blog got BIG MAD at me for posting the Palestinian flag (ironic considering like 3 days later when I reblogged something Jewish I had people then BIG MAD at me for that too.......)
Skoll, I took on knowing I would probably have to euthanize him for his aggression. From the very beginning the deal was that I was his last stop since he was a known abuse court case dog who was taken from his most recent owners and languishing in a kennel environment but deemed otherwise unadoptable due to severe aggression. The agreement was that I would have him for however long it would take to determine if he was fixable and then either I'd fix it and keep him or I'd euthanize. He bit me three separate times when we were still learning each other, and then attacked me randomly for the crime of petting his head, an act of affection he normally would approach me to request. I euthanized him at the advice of literally everyone involved with his case, and a few days after I euthanized him I got a letter from the state telling me either I put him down or animal control would take him and do it themselves. Pennsylvania is very strict on what they consider a mauling or a maiming and the resulting bite from his attack was very severe. I have had multiple people, including vets, neurologists, and behaviorists, tell me that they think he had rage, a seizure disorder which causes uncontrollable aggression, when I describe what his random bouts of attempting to attack literally the first thing he locked eyes on looked like.
Tiki, I rescued because I wanted a tiny dog and a dog that would live longer than a doberman, because dobe lifespans are hideously short due to their health problems. Within about 5 minutes of driving away with her, I realized she was very, very sick. We stopped at the vet before we even got her home. Over the next several months and constant ER visits we discovered she had hydrocephalus and also an immune condition that was slowly eating her lungs. She crashed during a procedure that was supposed to be our last attempt at fixing the lung problem as by then we knew the hydrocephalus would kill her anyway and we were trying to extend her life as long as possible. I dropped her off for the procedure, they called me on my way home, and I turned around so I could be there to say goodbye.
Creed died from cancer 🤷‍♂️ mast cell cancer is THE most common cancer in dogs as a species and it's a genuine coin toss if removing the initial tumor fixes it or if it's too late by the time you notice, because it forms on scar tissue so it hides by looking like a regular scar. Creed had a bunch of nicks and scrapes from running around in the woods on our hikes. One of the earliest scars he ever got is what killed him in the end. Losing him is what turned my blog from what it used to be, all dogs all the time, to what it is now. Ironically, he lived roughly the average lifespan for a doberman at 7.5 years old.
Phoebe, I was not involved in the decision to euthanize her. She came to me once again very sick, and I did my best to fix the problem, but it seemed to be a lot bigger than me or her other owner had expected. Her other owner took her to multiple specialists more local to her, and finally we came to a tentative diagnosis of a liver shunt. Her condition degraded rapidly and she went blind and began having seizures, and her other owner made the choice to say goodbye. Surgery was not an option due to her already bad condition not being certain she would actually survive anesthesia. I knew that she was not doing well, but I was not informed that she had died until several months later, despite my asking for updates because I suspected she'd passed. I don't disagree with the choice, I just wish I'd known when it happened. What we thought was just a chronic hookworm infestation and possible pancreatitus from the long-term damage from the hookworms turned out to be much more serious, and deadly, when it stopped responding to treatment.
If you have any questions on my capability as a dog owner to actually keep dogs alive, I'd like to direct you to the fact that Creed and my other actually-purchased-from-a-breeder dogs have lived good long lives. I keep getting sick dogs in rescue despite being told they are healthy, and that is exactly why I refuse to rescue dogs anymore. I'm tired of breaking my heart while cleaning up a problem someone else created. This is the part of rescue that doesn't get shared- what happens when someone loses the rescue lottery again and again and again with sick and mentally unwell dogs that are doomed to die before they've had a chance to truly live? I'm tired of being that someone. I'm tired of loving dogs and hemorrhaging money in a desperate attempt to fix them and feeling the weight of their bodies in my arms when that wasn't enough and they die anyway.
At least I can say Creed had a good fulfilled life as my constant companion, even if he didn't live nearly long enough compared to what I wanted.

It's ranting hours sunday for me: Y' know, I think when people complain soooo much about Padmé getting with Anakin, they're failing to see a lot of things. BUT ESPECIALLY...That it was her choice, and if speaks a lot of her character and personality.
She was already done dirty by the movies by getting so many deleted scenes, but then if you try to take away the agency she had on marrying a human disaster or her choices, like her forgiveness/understanding, it's actually undermining and flattening her character.
The fact is that she's actually very similar to Anakin, she's stubborn, deeply traumatized, compromises a lot for the sake of others and loves beyond reasoning. We, the audience, know that Anakin will become Darth Vader and one of the most iconic villains of history; so everything he does can be seem as a red flag that really isn't there.
From Padmé's POV, Anakin has done terrible things, but it's capable of incredible acts of love and compassion. They're in circumstances that aren't normal at all, she was queen at 14, and he was born a slave and joined the space wizard monks and his normal is kill or be killed. Our modern and omniscient POV can't be applied onto them because there's no point of comparison in this sci-fi-shakespearen tragedy-soap-opera-fantasy.
Besides...she was actually right in the end, and I don't believe is "feminist" or progressive to take away a big part of her core personality, that actually had repercussions in the whole story, and make her out to be either unaware and naive of marrying a monster, or (the worst one, imo) being jedi-mind-tricked-brainwashed-abused by her husband.
The "right, correct, girlboss and queen" actitude does more damage than help, leave Padmé to be a person. A person who wanted to have a fairytale romance with some guy who would fight for her and makes her laugh.
Also, the hell why you wanna blame her for something Anakin does, come on. That's a whole other can of worms, though. My point is, that trying to avoid or re-work-or re-contextualize the fact that she chose Anakin despite him literally telling her about murdering a whole village, is actually changing a big chunk of her personality traits.
She was a child queen, then a politician at the edge of an inminent war, manipulated by the same guy that groomed Anakin into a massive murderer, saw her people being taken into camps, had assasination attempts weekly and had to rip off of her individualism by becoming a public figure, giving up her sense of being a person by having several almost identical decoys, she had to stop being just Padmé to be Queen and then Senator Amidala and she did all of that showing little to no emotion.
Then Anakin does all what she herself had to rip off of her in order to be a politician: Honest, passionate, and able to show emotions; like love or anger.
She has morals and she represents democracy and justice, in a way. But I fully believe that inside her she had the same passionate anger and love capable of burning the galaxy that we know Anakin had, which makes them different sides of the same coin, and I think she realized that. Anakin perhaps didn't , as he never stopped of seeing himself as a slave and therefore inferior, whereas he held Padmé very highly, but I think Padmé saw them both as equals. She didn't have a "I can fix him" mentality, she had a "We're the same, we're both lonely, confused, hurting and scared of losing everything. And if he's like me, then I know he can do the right thing for love."
In other words: She was as insane as her husband, she only seems normal because she wasn't put into the monk warrior order and groomed by the devil for over a decade.

Oil is Thicker Then Blood (Part 20)
Getting ready for a party was stressful in it's own right. As it turned out.
After dropping off Tera at the nursery and saying a quick hello to Mrs. Rayn, both drones near sprinted back to their respective apartments, Uzi hadn't brought anything extra accept her pajamas, and needed to find something formal to wear.
The way Thad had described it, he was throwing a do-over Prom. After the official one was accompanied with murder and chaos, so it was encouraged, but not required, to wear formal clothes.
And Uzi thanked her oversentimetal post-prom self for looking for other dresses after the fact. She didn't mind the one she wore at prom, it was actually one of the things her dad had gotten right about her style, but she'd wanted something… more.
So, she dug out her chosen dress and it's accessories and tried it on for the first time in almost four months.
It was a dark purple dress that was a little shorter than the one she'd worn at prom, with a leather lined collar with a black skull sitting right at the center of her chest. It was perfect, especially with the gold that ran through it in subtle vine-like patterns.
She totally hadn't picked it out because the little bit of gold had reminded her of her the golden boy. No, not at all.
She ditched her beanie this time, deciding to actually do something with her hair for once even if that something was just comb through it.
As a final touch, she snapped on a bracelet she'd found that she'd liked, it was spiked, but honestly it fit the asthetic pretty well, and just edgy enough that even though it was jewelry, she didn't mind wearing it.
Looking back into the mirror, she looked… good, and for the first time in ever. She felt that she looked good too, maybe because it was actually something she had picked out this time, or maybe she just felt better about herself now than compared to Prom.
N did not put so much thought into his.
It wasn't that he didn't want to it was just that he only had the one suit. And he hadn't really bothered to go out looking for more clothes. So that's what he wore, and he was thankful that Uzi had patched it up for him after he'd gotten bisected.
He still looked dapper though, so his lack of effort didn't bother him so much.
And then they were both off again, racing to meet each other at the first (or third, as they were inside) door, excitement and nervousness mixing together in an exhilarating combination that seemed to vibrate off N and tighten uncomfortably inside Uzi.
N came to the door first, no doubt aided by his long AF legs and how fast he'd been walking, he glanced around excitedly, but even being able to peer over the several heads of drones that were also making there way outside didn't help him spot her out.
And that was because she wasn't there yet. She was currently one with a sea of people, getting caught in it due to her size and how quickly the wave was moving through the hall. She was actually getting beaten around a bit, trying to make her way through without using her tail to frighten people away from her, despite the temptation.
Finally, N saw a group of people come around the corner and spit Uzi out of them rather violently, she also didn't look entirely happy about it either, shooting back a glance at the group before looking around and making eye contact with him.
If he hadn't already fallen, he might have in that moment.
She looked gorgeous, the deep purples in her dress combined with the sparkling golden lines cutting through it, the black little skull over where her core would be. Her hair was free of her beanie and a little spiked bracelet rested on her wrist that seemed to bring the whole thing together.
He felt his face heat up before she even reached him. If he thought her Prom dress looked good on her, this was leagues better.
“Oh w-wow. You look really pretty in that…” He said almost the moment she was in earshot, making her pause and a blush to take over her face as well.
“Uh thanks… you wore the suit from Prom?”
She asked back, clearly trying to talk through her fluster instead of stewing in it. She also may or may not have felt a little proud of herself for garnering that sort of reaction out of him.
“Yeah, it's the only thing I had…” He faltered a little, picking on the sleeve of his suit out of nervousness.
“Hey it's not bad! You look just as good!” She hurriedly tried to comfort him but only ended up making them both fluster more, N couldn't help but smile though, and he closed the gap between them, standing at her side.
“Dapper Buddies?” He asked goofily, referencing himself, and holding her shoulder, making her roll her eyes and also reference herself, by elbowing him lightly, although it wasn't even hard enough to knock the wind out of him, much less hurt.
“Come on.” She laughed as they followed another group outside, only for them both to gasp in awe as the scene unfolded before them
If one thing was clear, Thad definitely knew how to throw a party.
There was a huge temporary stage put up, with giant salvaged speakers on either side currently blaring EDM as loud as they could, string lights were hung on the buildings above them, and several tables of bot-safe food framed what was clearly the dance floor, which had been cleared of snow and a thick black tarp laid down to keep the snow melted.
“Holy crap.” Uzi said first, looking over at N who was still taking it all in for a moment before looking back at her, he let out a giddy laugh before taking her wrist and near sprinting into the main party, making her yelp before she was dragged along.
Thankfully N parted the crowd pretty well and when they stopped they were by one of the tables near the stage, they both had to turn down the volume on their audio receptors in order to prevent from damaging them.
Despite not being able to hear each other, they both laughed at how obnoxiously loud the music was, and N looked behind them to the table, where there was a bowl of batteries, small screws and washers, and copper wiring.
Eyeing a battery suspiciously, he popped one in his mouth, where it sparked and popped as his fangs peirced it, the feeling almost made him jump, but it wasn't unpleasant, and the resulting discharge made him feel slightly more energized, even if it quickly faded.
He caught Uzi in one of his visor eyes, laughing at his reaction before thrusting her hand in the bowl and taking an entire handful. She smirked at him before throwing back the whole handful into her mouth and biting down, hard.
The sparking and popping was audible this time, and it nearly filled her mouth with it's intensity, the shock was so great it made some of Uzi's hair stand on end as her eyelights glew a little brighter for a moment as her system absorbed the energy.
To N it was as adorable as it was funny, he laughed as she struggled with chewing the popping snack and tried to pat down her static filled hair, all the while trying not to laugh with batteries in her mouth.
The song died down, leaving only the constant wind that was usually howling itself horse to fill the silence, even if right now it was the equivalent to a light (freezing cold) breeze.
“Hey everybody!” Thad's voice came booming from the speakers as both drones turned their volume back up, he was standing on the stage, looking completely in his element as he gestured the crowd of teens and young adults.
“Thank you for coming out tonight! Hopefully this makes up for Prom yeah?”
Most of the crowd yelled back a “yeah!” And somebody screamed, because somebody always screamed.
“Alright! I got a couple bands to play tonight, and after that, I'll be your DJ till morning!” He said the last part a little louder, pumping his fist up in the air and hyping the crowd up more.
“Let's get this freaking started!” He yelled out, and the crowd vibrated in anticipation as the first band came out to set up, Uzi and N looked at each other in the moment of relative silence.
“Wow, He's actually kinda good at hyping people up isn't he?” N asked, and Uzi smiled back, laughing lightly.
“Are you kidding? This is Thad at his best.”
“Hey M'n’Ms! Zi!” Speaking of, the jock in question came sprinting off steps of the stage towards them, waving with a huge smile on his face.
“You guys made it!” He exclaimed, stopping short of running into the both of them in his excitement. Uzi was right, Thad looked like he was consumed by excitement, the chill persona eclipsed by the side of him that was a party animal.
“Told you we were, even if I had to drag Uzi here.” N replied, earning him a light hit in the chest, Thad only laughed.
“I was a little worried about that after the last time we spoke, glad he was able to wear you down Uzi.” He turned to her with a smile before his face got a little serious.
“Oh! Hey if you guys have any trouble tonight you come get me yeah? There's a lot more people here then I was expecting… so I don't know who you'll run into.” Thad bring any sort of serious about anything was… off-putting, but they both nodded before a voice cut through the crowd.
“Thad! Over here!” He looked up and waved happily at someone in the crowd, and he gave them both a wave goodbye as he sprinted bravely into the mass of moving bodies.
Soon after, the sound of instrumentation started to waft from onstage, Uzi and N moved farther away from the speakers, but still avoided the dense sea of people in the center, moving somewhere towards the back near a keg that said “Oil”
“Oh! What is this?” Being farther away from the blaring speaker allowed them to actually hear each other, but as N reached for a cup to fill, Uzi grabbed his hand and moved it away.
“That's fermented N, it'll get you drunk.” She explained, pointing out the several drones who were already slurring their speech and inventing weird dances on the dance floor.
“That's a thing?”
She nodded before glancing around for anything to drink that wasn't fermented, but found nothing but more kegs that likely all had the same thing in them.
“Looks like thats the only thing that's here… N!” She looked back at N to see him sipping lightly out of a cup filled with the stuff, he looked over at her with a grin.
“Hey I'm just tasting it! Plus it'll be through my system in like an hour anyway… my filters are too strong for it to last very long.” He shrugged as he took another sip.
“It's… really sweet…” He hummed as he seemed to drink from it more deeply, curiosity got the better of her and she got her own cup, filling it up from the keg before taking a swig of it.
N was right, it was sweet, almost too sweet, like someone had dumped five pounds of sugar in it before mixing it. But she still found herself liking it, weather it was because she'd actually liked the taste or it was the solver making it taste better she wasn't entirely sure.
“See?” He chuckled as they both stayed there awhile, not exactly getting drunk but absolutely drinking enough for them both to start feeling it in their processors, Uzi began to laugh lightly at a little bit of everything and N felt his nerves begin to melt away from him, looking at Uzi freely with half-lidded eyes as she giggled at essentially nothing.
A slow song began to play from the band onstage, and the crowded dance floor cleared out a bit leaving only couples that had paired up on it, he looked back at Uzi, face lit up by the string lights she was following with her eyes, and, without thinking;
“Would you wanna dance?” He asked rather abruptly, a fact that normally would have made him cringe and backtrack but right now he stood his ground.
Uzi felt her face flush, wondering if he was serious or not, but the genuine way he was smiling and holding out his hand to her told her that he was, she took his hand and found herself being walked to the dance floor.
“I uh… don't know how to dance.” Uzi admitted as they were now face to face, N was no longer holding her, but they were still rather close, N just smiled anyway.
“That's okay! Let me teach you! Just follow my lead.” He first grabbed her shoulder before blushing a little and looking to the side “Uh… can I?”
Uzi blinked before realizing he was asking for her permission to touch her, because of course he was, he was still N, even if he was being propelled forward slightly by the oil.
She nodded, as words began to fail her. And he gave her another gentle smile before leading one of her hands to his chest, and the other on his shoulder. Before both his hands rested on her hips.
The position brought the nerves back, and N gulped, he'd done this relatively smoothly up until this point, where the oil wasn't really helping his nerves due to the proximity, but he fought through it, he did say he'd teach her after all.
“Just relax.” He said, although if he was being honest it was more for himself then for her, and he started putting her through the steps he could do in his sleep at this point.
A step forward, two steps back, another step forward, all while turning slowly, and he tried to ignore her clumsy footing, he'd done the same thing while Tessa had taught him, and she was rapidly memorizing the steps anyway, each one getting more confident as they swayed together.
The blush nor the smile left either of their faces the entire time, and neither could take long looks at the other without quickly looking away.
When the song ended and they parted, it took a moment for them both to calm their fluttering cores, but N felt Uzi take his hand and lead him off the dance floor again, either not commenting on or not noticing the spark that passed between their hands.
N noticed, and it made him smile to himself, feeling more and more confident that she felt the same way.
“That was actually kinda fun…” She admitted after getting away from the speakers and releasing his hand, her voice had lost any angst or bite to it, even though she was in public. And he couldn't help but feel proud that he was the one who'd done that.
“Yeah! You were getting the hang of it pretty quickly!” He replied, keeping a bright smile on his face that wasn't at all faked, he was so so happy right now, literally nothing could bring him down.
Until something brought him down.
He felt a tap on his shoulder and he whirled around, looking down at a drone with black hair done up in a fancy bun and orange eyelights that was piercing into him rather harshly. She also wore a black dress that completely exposed the glass covering of her core, and a choker studded with orange gems.
“H-hi?” He stammered out, trying to be polite but honestly a little irritated that his conversation with Uzi had been interrupted.
“Hey there handsome.” She hummed in a seductive tone, leaning into him as far as she could without directly touching him, he took a step back, obviously uncomfortable with the proximity. He could hear Uzi make a noise, and he didn't have to hear it well to understand she was upset for him.
“I'm Chloe… N right?” His need to be polite nodded while the rest of his body tried to move to create further distance between them, but she just continued to close whatever space he made.
“You wanna dance? I can keep up with you without tripping over my feet.” She laughed, and it was too high pitched and immediately grated his ears. He frowned, knowing immediately who she was referring to.
“Uh… no-no thank you. I k-kinda came here with someone.” He took another step back and even attempted to turn back towards Uzi, just to make sure she was still okay when a cross between a moan and a pain-fueled growl escaped his mouth, and he turned back to find Chloe with the vial of his tail clasped in her hand, running a finger down it, almost to the tip of the needle before pulling her hand away.
“I always did wonder how it feels to get stung~” N was about to yank his tail away before she gave it another stroke, causing electricity to shoot into his legs and nearly paralyze him. He whined, this really wasn't pleasant…
“Hey! That's not a toy! Leave him alone!” Uzi shouted, rushing forward and trying to snatch the vial out of Chloe's hands, but she moved it put of her reach, also giving his tail a yank in the process, and he winced at the feeling.
Any amount of force he put into trying to pull away was now met with her squeezing it roughly, essentially trapping him with his own tail, he gritted his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut, this felt too similar to how J would “tease” him, fiding everywhere he was sensitive and just continuing to touch until it hurt.
“Awww what? He likes it~” She drug the tip of her finger all the way down to the tip of the needle, causing a small drip of acid to get pushed out and onto the floor, N's breath hitched as every single sensor up his back went off unpleasantly. He growled in warning, and one of his hands turned to claws, no, No! He wasn't ever going to be treated like some plaything again!
“Are you serious?! He's so obviously not into it! You can't just-” She was interrupted by her own tail rushing forward to try to bite Chloe, startling her just enough to let go enough for him to yank his tail away, trembling.
Her tail hissed after it missed, creating so much venomous saliva it was eating through the tarp rather quickly, one of her eyes turned to an “x” as she took stance in between them.
“You fucking freak! You have a tail?!” Chloe screamed, jumping back and causing commotion around them, several people turned to stare.
“Yeah I do! Leave him the hell alone! You're the creep who wanted to get stung!” She bit back aggressively, and her tail bit into the air, still desperately lashing out to try and sink it's teeth into Chloe.
“I-uh” Her orange eyelights looked over at the drones who were looking at them, an mandarin colored fluster taking over her face.
“Whatever! At least I'm not his baby-momma.”
Uzi felt a coil snap as she found herself suddenly lunging forward, tiny claws unsheathing from her fingertips as she tried to swipe and leave a permanent mark on her visor, only stopped by N himself, who had caught her mid-launch.
“Woah!” He said as she felt herself struggle against him, still trying to claw the insufferable bitches visor out of her head when someone else seemed to appear beside them.
“What's going on here?” Thad had entered the scene, as by now the situation had garnered quite the crowd, his eyes drifted from Chloe to Uzi, who had finally stopped struggling against N, to N, which gave him an apologetic look, although even behind that look Thad caught the rage, given away his heavy breaths and erratically waving tail.
“She freaking touched- you don't touch people like that!” Uzi yelled, as N put her down, her tail in her hand as she couldn't control it wildly snapping around at the people around them, content to bite anyone if it couldn't reach it's intended target.
Thad suddenly looked incredibly worried, he looked between N and Uzi to figure out which one of them had been touched, before deciding that it didn't matter, and he was ending this.
“You. Out. Now.” He pointed to Chloe who looked shocked, she pointed to herself and almost laughed.
“M-me? You can't honestly believe the freakshow over me?” Thad looked back at his two freinds, Uzi had finally calmed her tail down and was holding N's arm, clearly trying to comfort him, N himself was visibly shaken up, but his tall had begun to wag regardless.
“You heard me. Go home.” Thad turned back to her, putting himself between her and his two friends, she scoffed, although clearly embarrassed, and sauntered off back inside, but not without a final “Whatever, this parties lame anyway.”
He watched her, and made sure she'd actually left before turning to the crowd that had gathered. “Alright, this is over, go back to whatever you were doing.” and thankfully they listened, getting all the attention off the two.
“You guys okay?” He asked, touching the shoulders of both Uzi, and (although he didn't quite reach) N, looking between the two worriedly.
“Yeah I’m- were fine. Thank you Thad.” N replied, holding his tail extremely close to him, almost like it would suddenly come unattached from his body if he didn't.
“No problem, I wanna make sure my two friends are comfortable, and not harassed by… whoever that was.” He paused, looking thoughtful for a moment before starting again. “I can understand if you wanna leave after that, that was… not cool.”
Uzi and N looked at each other, N looking unsure until Uzi took his hand.
“We can go home if you want, we can just spend the rest of the night watching terrible horror movies?” She suggested, squeezing his hand, he sighed softly, trying to shake off the lingering anxiety that remained in him.
“N-no, we shouldn't let that ruin our night. I wanna stay.” He smiled, releasing his tail so that it could coil up behind him, pointing away from others obviously.
“Great! Glad that didn't scare you off!” Thad laughed before yet another situation was brought to his attention.
“Is that a magnet? Oh for Robo-Christs sake!” He ran off abruptly, shouting at another group wildly, trying to get them to put the magnets away before an adult saw them, they were barely getting away with the oil as it was.
“You sure you're okay? I don't mind heading inside.” Uzi double checked, still not quite letting him go, he smiled back, taking a deep breath to dissolve the jitters the situation had caused him.
“Yeah, Can't let some jerk spoil our fun. We were having a good time before that right?” Uzi nodded, but not before pulling him into a quick hug that he eagerly accepted.
“You wanna dance again? The music is a little more upbeat now. I can teach you some more?” He asked, pushing whatever had just happened into the back of his mind for now. He wanted to be here, having a good time. Not to dwell on someone that didn't deserve time in his headspace.
“If you're up for it?” And so he took her hand again, running off onto the dance floor to completely rid the situation from his mind by immediately overwriting the memory with the images of Uzi twirling around him as they did some sort of waltz, always touching in some way but always moving.
She wasn't very good, but that didn't entirely matter, as it made it more fun, he'd correct her trips by catching her into a dip, or guide her along if he felt she was getting lost.
By the time that song was over, he'd successfully gotten over it, and was laughing along with her as she tripped again.
“I'm… not very good at this am I?”
“That's okay. That's my job right?” He replied as the last song actually performed by a band came on, it was lively, with guitar and trumpet and drums that made you want to tap your feet.
“One more, and this time I promise you'll be good at it.” He held his hand out again and she took it without much hesitation, and they were off again, and while he started about the same as the music kicked up he quickly changed gears, his wings unfolding from behind him as he slowly took her in the air.
She was taken aback for a moment, not expecting it, before realizing what he was getting at, she wasn't great at dancing, but she was great at flying. So after adjusting her dress so that it wouldn't rip, and pushing down the anxiety that came from showing them in public, she let them unfurl from her back, following him into the air.
They started flying low, startling several people and making several others cheer for them as they flew through the air, slowly picking up speed as they spun around each other like a pair of dancing dragons. Then as the band spotted them, they began to play faster, either to encourage then to fly faster or to incorporate them into their performance, either could be true, but it did work, they flew faster, N coming in front of her to grip her hand before taking her up into the air.
They rose up into the air, the sound of the music fading behind them as they spun around each other, gravity catching up to them as they slowly began to fall back down, if N hadn't caught her into a dip that was reminiscent of a tango, and bringing her back up to his chest, one of his hands intertwining their fingers and the other holding the small of her back. Her wings folded back into her, leaving them to hover there under the power of N's thrusters, still spinning gently. One of Uzi's hands was on his shoulder, and she laughed airly before leaning into his chest gently, enjoying the feeling of his touch, perhaps it was the oil, or the mood. But she didn't feel the need at the moment to hide any of her affection.
N felt his core start to ache, his grip on her hand tightened as his other trailed up her side and eventually ended up at her chin, gently using his thumb to turn her face towards him. The action was barely an conscious one, he just… wanted to look at her.
Her eyelights were so bright, they almost glimered, a look of mild surprise passed across her visor, accompanied by a small smile. Her deep purple dress billowed around her, the gold seeming to sparkle even more this high up, and her hair, for once, flowed freely around her shoulders instead of being trapped inside her beanie.
“I… have I ever told you how beautiful you are?” He asked slowly, his breath threatening to get caught in his throat, his thumb moving up to caress the seam under her visor, the tension in him so tight he could barely contain it.
“N…?” Uzi had been paralyzed the moment she felt his hand start to travel up her side, she could barely believe this was happening, this whole night had been…. something. And despite the part of her that wanted to beat off the cheesiness with a stick. This whole thing was really nice…
“Because you are. Not even just because you're in a dress but… just all the time.” She felt herself glancing down, blushing and trying to conceal her fluster before his hand came back to lift her head to look at him. It was so forward that Uzi couldn't do much but gasp a little and blink rapidly.
The air was thick around them, even through the fermented oil currently clogging his processors he was still nervous, but at this point it was a little late to back out. He'd already spoke his mind, it was time to commit.
“I… I think.” He felt himself heat up underneath her gaze. He had to keep going, the oil doing it's work to keep him from loosing his nerve, but it wasn't lasting very long in his systems, it was starting to wear off. He needed to do this now.
“I think I'm in love with you, Zi.” He finally forced out, voice so low it was barely audible, Uzi felt sparks light up in her core, and although she was silent, the hand she had rested on his shoulder went to the side of his face.
“You're so perfect. A-and smart, and you always know what to do… and you're so soft with me, and-and Tera too. And I just, really want you with me. Just doing… anything.”
Because I love doing anything, as long as it's with you.
Uzi didn't know what to say. Nothing in her arsenal of life experience could prepare her for this, a confession of love that was so sincere she almost felt like she was about to cry. All words within her processors died, even the fiesty ones.
“I… almost thought you felt the same way, but if you don’t I-”
No! He was taking her silence as a rejection! She frantically thought of words to say, anything, literally anything! But nothing was coming to her, her panic worsened until a desperate thought entered her mind.
If she couldn't use words, she could always use action.
The hand that had intertwined in his suddenly and roughly gripped his suit tie, surprising him and knocking him out of whatever sad rejection acceptance speil he was about to go on. Uzi was shaking like a wet kitten, but the look on her face was determined.
In an incredibly quick and not-at-all graceful movement, she slammed their visors together, making them clack together awkwardly and sending N reeling back in slight pain, looking incredibly surprised and confused.
“Uh…” He responded dumbly, and Uzi felt like making herself plumet to the ground so she didn't have to feel the searing hot embarrassment coursing through her, her entire visor was overtaken with blush, and she reached out to try and apologize while also covering her face with her hand.
“I- sorry! I was, gah- why is this hard?!” Words came back but none of them were anything but embarrassed cries and half-apologies, she buried her face in both her hands, hiding herself from him.
“Uzi?” he was so patient, his voice didn't hold any signs that he was upset, and she felt one of his hands pull one of hers away from her face, they were still hovering, thank robo-god, so no one could see her horrible attempt at kissing him.
“You- I'm not rejecting you! I just didn't know what to say!” She finally admitted, shouting because of how uncomfortably small she felt, but with how her visor was still consumed with purple, N could tell she wasn't exactly angry.
“I was uh… trying to kiss you.” She then admitted again, although this one in more of a whisper then a yell, it was N's turn to blush as he looked to the side before looking back into her eyelights.
“O-oh…” She wasn't looking at him, instead nibbling on her knuckles and looking like she'd rather perish then be alive right now, and he smiled, taking her hands and putting them back on his chest.
“Do you wanna try again?” He asked, face lighting up further and causing Uzi to look back at him, surprised, a cheep coming out of her mouth before she slowly nodded, leaning back into him, and feeling one of his hands drift back to the small of her back.
This time they both leaned in, Uzi's hands holding tightly on the collar of his suit and N's other hand coming up to cup her face.
A spark passed between their visors, jolting them both before causing them both to smile softy at the other as they finally closed the gap, soft silicone meeting soft silicone.
It only took a moment for them both to melt. Anime and movies had gotten it wrong, this wasn't a start of a fire or like getting caught in a thunderstorm. It was warm and it was comfortable, like they'd been doing it all their lives instead of right now for the first time. It was pleasant and chaste, and when they parted the warmth between them remained.
N blinked, his core feeling incredibly light like he'd just put down something he'd been carrying for a long time.
Uzi felt dazed like someone had just woken her up from a decade long nap and she wasn't sure where or when or who she was.
N laughed lightly first, mostly at himself but a little at her starstruck expression. Uzi was next, joining him in an expression of how… stupid this whole thing had been.
“When…?” She asked, trying to think back as cuddled closer to him, not feeling the typical complaints from her brain that usually would accompany such an affectionate action.
“We were flying together, and a love song came on… you looked really pretty with the eclipse.”
“That was over a month ago!” She exclaimed, being a little impressed on how well he'd hidden it. She'd still figured it out, but still.
“You?”
She hesitated, did she really want him knowing how long she'd had feelings for him, Prom had been almost four months ago at this point.
But looking at him… she couldn't lie.
“P-prom.” She stammered out, and he froze, looking up at the stars with bewilderment.
“That was so long ago! Why didn't you say anything?” He asked, a wider smile on his face, it made Uzi fluster again, and she did the stupid girly thing of trying to put her hair behind her nonexistent ear.
“I- I'm me! I'm not exactly ecstatic to voice how I feel. Unless it's angst.” She shouted, leading them both to laugh again, although N leaned it once more, resting their visors together while looking deeply at her.
“You've liked me longer then I've liked you…” He pointed out, making her want to cringe. It wasn't her fault! He was just so… nice!
“Sorry I made you wait so long, I'm not the smartest drone.” He said.
“That's okay… That's my job, right?”
They both leaned in again, enjoying every moment of their time in the sky, being able to pay very little mind to the still raging party below them…

TALK.
— swimming... fountains?
summary : the two of you had been best friends since god knows when. maybe things turn out differently when you pull him in.
not proofread !
Tumblr media
for as long as he could remember, dick grayson was utterly in love with you. from the way you held yourself, to the way you smiled at him, and down to the jokes you teased him with that he wouldn't let anyone else slide with.
ever since you were kids, you consumed his every thought. but what he didn't realise, was that you felt the same.
of course, it was a situation of miscommunication; simply just being too afraid to bring it up to the other, and not being able to read the hidden feelings of one another.
as nightwing, trained detective, dick knew how to read people. he could match a villain to their alter ego by simply passing them in the street on his way to grab a sub sandwich for lunch, but with you it was just different. maybe because it was a matter involving himself, as opposed to simply onlooking others. he felt conscious of his role in your life, and didn't want to manipulate things to follow his wishes.
put simply, he respected you immensely, and didn't want to force you into a situation he was scared you didn't want to be in. perhaps that was why you were better off as best friends.
on days neither of you had anything to do, you walked through the various parks of gotham, usually talking about how the past week had gone, or how the how many days that had passed between seeing each other had gone.
today, the two of you did just that. it was normal, nothing to be thought of it... right?
"i dunno, bruce has been stricter on us recently," dick chimed up in response to your question about his recent patrols. "so i don't really know what's going on."
pursing your lips, you gave a shrug. "even from when i've met him, he doesn't seem too lively. maybe he's just going through something."
"that's what i'm worried about."
and dick gave a sigh, one that held more weight than he was letting on. clearly this was something bigger than either of you two knew.
for a moment, you sized him up, watching as his eyes trained on the pebbly ground ahead. with the back of your hand, you nudged his arm, causing him to perk up.
"hey, how about we get some ice cream? maybe even sundaes from that shop on fourth?"
at this, his eyes lit up, stormy skies clearing with the reemergence of the sun, along with his charming smile. you knew he would be more than happy to, even if he didn't say so.
before you, the water fountain was approaching, with each step the two of you took. as it came up, you brought your foot onto the ledge, and began to walk along it.
as if like clockwork – because of the amount of times he had been with you as you walked along the fountain – dick held his hand out to your, soft palm up to the sky. in his field of work, it was a miracle he could keep his hands from getting calloused.
without having to think about it, you placed your hand in his, fitting like a puzzle piece; like a glove; lock and key.
"i already know what i'm going to get," dick piped up once again, his other hand snug in the pocket of his jeans. "rocky road, vanilla, and strawberry. maybe some butterscotch and marshmallows. i might gain a few, but i'll work it off tonight, anyway."
a laugh brushed past your lips, and you opened your mouth to reply. but any words about to escape slipped past without a sound, for your foot slipped. the fountain's ledge was slightly wet, probably from where a bird wanted a quick bath, or someone playing fetch with their dog actually threw the ball in and water splashed everywhere.
whatever it was that had happened, you were falling, no birds or dog toys could change that. and when you looked over at dick, mouth agape and eyebrows raised in shock, he was falling, too.
with a deafening splash! the two of you were splayed out in the water fountain, gasping at the chill, trying to push yourselves to sit up.
"oh my god!" you gasped, pushing your soaked hair out of your eyes, which were wide as they looked over at dick, who seemed just as shocked as you. "are you okay? i'm so sorry!"
"no, no, i'm fine," dick replied, running a hand through his raven hair, looking around at the situation as if not truly believing he was sitting in a water fountain, where literally anybody could walk past and find him. if he found any front pages with his photo on them, he would not be too happy.
on his knees, he waded over to you, and your eyes noticed the way his white shirt grew translucent in the water.
"you," he began. "are you okay? you're not hurt, are you?"
for a moment, you were worried maybe you were, but the adrenaline coursing through your body had deafened the pain, and you frantically moved to inspect if you still had all limbs.
opposite you, a chuckle brushed past dick's lips. "you look fine," he hummed. and when you looked up, his expression was soft; almost more stripped, more genuine, with the droplets of water lingering on his cheek and eyelashes.
"fine?" you repeated airily, the ghost of a disbelieving laugh running out with your breath. "like, i'm fine, or i don't look damaged?"
if you blinked, you would miss it. dick's blue eyes roamed your appearance briefly, the smile lingering at his lips. "yeah, you're fine," he replied casually.
he sat on his knees before you, not seeming to mind the cold water seeping through his clothes – which were probably more expensive than your rent – just smiling up at you, the chill causing a light flush to creep onto his cheeks. after a moment, his smile faltered, and he seemed to grow self-conscious.
"i want to talk to you about something."
you gave a laugh. "really? is this really the right time for that?" you questioned with a half-chuckle, eyes glancing around at the situation the two of you had found yourselves in; sitting pretty in a water fountain, where people were beginning to take notice. but hey ho, it was gotham; stranger things have happened.
dick paused, and, passing over a few beats, gave a bashful shrug. "i don't know. it might be. i don't think there would ever be a right time for this."
with a furrow of your brow, you narrowed your eyes at him. "what's up?" you hummed, repositioning yourself to sit more comfortably on your knees, the water rippling around you.
his mouth opened, readying to speak, but he looked away, seemingly thinking over his words, judging by that inquisitive glint in his eye. but he finally looked back at you.
"you know how much i appreciate you, right?"
at his words, the corner of your mouth twitched, aching to hold back a smile. "yeah, of course. i appreciate you too, dick."
"like," he continued, chuckling softly, "i'm not even mad that you ruined my clothes by pulling me into a fountain in the middle of the park. seriously. not even mad at all. if you were tim, i would be holding your head under the water right now."
you gave a nod, eyes flickering to the side. "where is this going?"
dick exhaled through his nose, expression hardening as he looked over at you. "i think you're great. i think you're great when you fall into a water fountain and bring me with you; i think you're great when you send me a text before i go on patrol telling me to 'keep safe'. i think you're great when we go on walks, and when we go share an ice cream sundae, and when you remember my subway order—"
"how am i supposed to forget that you like your subway melts with way too many pickles to even be normal?"
and he laughed, that softness that you just adored shining through once more, causing you to crack a grin as well.
"what i'm saying..." dick began once his chuckle had trailed off, eyes gazing into the trickling stream pooling from the statue in the centre of the fountain. "i guess... maybe i wish we weren't friends."
almost as soon as the words left his mouth, your eyebrows creased and your jaw dropped. "what– that doesn't make sense—"
"i'm in love with you, (y/n)," he finished, cutting off your confusion with barely a full sentence, his lips trembling. "okay? is that okay?"
how could you even reply to that?
noting your lack of response, dick continued to talk, trailing off awkwardly. he was ready for your years of friendship to be over.
"i just suppose we tell each other everything, and i kind of felt – i don't know – guilty that i was leaving this out. especially since it involves you. i know if you ever had a problem with me you would tell me, and the same for me with you, but i could never have a problem with you, i just thought it was the same sort of principle, i dunno—"
warmth clashing against the chill of the water, soft skin meeting soft skin. only for a moment. and it was over.
you pulled away, eyelids fluttering open to look at your best friend expectantly. best friends can't be best friends after this.
he felt for you the way you felt for him.
after every patrol, no matter how tired, he always made an effort to knock on the window of your bedroom, and bring by one of your favourite snacks, or even just to tell you about how it had gone; you adored it, the way he was so thoughtful. you thought he was just doing it because that's what best friends do.
he used to help you study for tests, and make sure you knew the content back to front before you went in.
some nights you would dance in the kitchen to your favourite oldies whilst cooking a dinner to watch in front of a good film; and it was those moments that you felt really connected him to you. but you thought it was just what best friends did.
as you looked up at him, lips thinning anxiously, dick's face softened, eyebrows upturning, the corners of his mouth pulling down.
"you just... kissed me," he breathed, his breath fanning your tingling lips. "why did you just kiss me?"
"why do you think, doofus?" you scoffed playfully, bringing a hand to softly nudge his shoulder, despite the bashfulness evident on your face. "i think i'm in love with you, too."

his eyes bounced down to a reply in the thread that linked the video footage of the hit. the blonde clicked into the 20 second video where he watched the girl from the other team plow into samy sending her straight to the ground. he watched her lay there without getting up until her teammates began crowding her.
Considering it's an away game, a concerning amount of the umich hockey team are in the stands, loosing it
There are also three very concerned hughes brothers scattered across the country watching
"what the fuck!" ethan yelled as soon as samy hit the ground. the others around him began mumbling in disbelief, waiting for the ref to throw up a red card.
"that was illegal!" mark yelled right alongside the brunette. the two stood there in disbelief and worry that samy hadn't gotten up yet.
"shit, is she okay?" gavin wondered while almost the entire team's gaze never left the girl down on the field.
"she's not getting up," gabe mumbled from beside the older boys.
"shit, come on samy. get up, get up," ethan mumbled under his breath.
by that time, the coach and athletic trainers were on the field with her. no one could see the brunette because of everyone's bodies hiding her from the stands and the other players. there was still nothing from the refs either.
"that was a fucking card! where's the card!" ryan yelled which got boston's side going because they didn't get why a bc kid was cheering for a umich kid.
"why the fuck are you cheering for the other team?" some stranger yelled over at the boys' section.
"fuck off! she just got hurt!" mark yelled back which shut that other person up fairly quickly.
meanwhile, jack and luke watched the live stream from the comfort of their couch, mouths wide open waiting for their baby sister to get back up.
"why isn't she getting up?" jack muttered.
"the other team hit right into her. they haven't even given a card yet!" luke exclaimed and quickly went to his phone to get any updates from their parents that were there.
ellen picked up on the third ring.
"mom, what the hell's happening? is she okay?" luke put the call on speaker so jack could listen in.
"they're still looking at her on the field right now. the guys aren't too happy about it," the older woman explained.
"why haven't they given that other girl a red card? that was an illegal hit. she did that on purpose," luke continued in frustration.
"the refs are ignoring the stands as they watch the replay," ellen said.
"watch the replay? did they not see that girl hit samy purposefully??" jack rolled his eyes.
"hold on, quinn's calling now too. i'm adding him to this call," a second later, quinn joined.
"you're on the call with luke and jack, too," ellen said to her sons.
"what's going on with this play? the live stream stopped showing what's happening?" quinn urged for some answers.
"they're still looking at her. she took a really hard hit. it looks like her shoulder."
"shit. if it's her shoulder, she's not gonna be able to play or they won't want her to," jack hummed and he knew that would piss samy off because she hated being out of the game.
"wait, she's getting up. your father and i are gonna go down and meet her. we'll call you guys back," ellen hurried out before hanging up.
people in the stands began clapping once samy was up, glad she was okay enough to walk. ethan and mark exchanged a glance watching samy walk back through the tunnel with the trainers. they had a huge ice pack wrapped around her right shoulder.
"fuck, that doesn't look good," gavin muttered.
"wait, the refs are coming back out," ethan nudged the guys' arms as they anxiously awaited what the card would be.
the ref held out a yellow card—a warning.
"what the fuck! that was red card!" ethan immediately yelled, not caring if he got kicked out of the game.
"no fucking way. they're blind!" ryan exclaimed as well.
the refs didn't say anything else and the game continued on without samy while the twitter headlines started breaking about the hit.

Jimin had a solo era where he had 10 days of mostly local promo except for Jimmy Fallon for his 6 song EP (1 b-side + 1 title track) in Mar 2023 + 1 collab (with Kodak and Jvke) in the F&F movie franchise in May 2023 + 1 collab with Taeyang of Big Bang in Jan 2023 with accompanying mvs for both collabs + 1 fansong released on christmas week 2023 with 30 hours of notice and recycled footage for its mv + 1 documentary released on weverse in Oct 2023.
JK had a solo era where immediately after hiatus he released left & right in June 2022 with Charlie Puth who's pretty famous in his own right, a world cup song in Nov 2022 and performed solo in the opening ceremony which was watched by 1.5 billion viewers. He then proceeded to release Seven in July 2023 with latto who's also pretty damn famous in the west with Grammy winning producers and an accompanying mv with Han So Hee. Seven is perhaps the most payola'd kpop song of all time - I can't even list it all down without making this ask huge but suffice to say that with all the ads and playlisting on several platforms including tth from day 1 and some help from spotify to keep all his combined versions together instead of splitting them and probably a tiktok heating deal - seven managed to stay on top of global for weeks and netted a bunch of records.
However moving on, JK performs at good morning america, is supposed to perform at the mtv emas (gets cancelled) and announces his next single 3D with Jack Harlow at Global Citizen Fest at NY releasing in Sep 2023. He also has a collab too much with kid laroi and central cee in Oct 2023 with an accompanying mv. After that we're gearing up for his all English album release in Nov 2023 with a 11 track album. He has features from major lazer and dj snake and songs composed and produced by the likes of Diplo, Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes. He goes on to perform snty at Jimmy Fallon, Times Square and iHeartRadio live. While none of his songs post seven are as heavily payola'd, they're still very well promoted. In Dec 2023, he releases a remix of SNTY with usher with an accompanying mv. He also features in hots in single I wonder in March 2024. Finally he's released a fan song never let go for festa in June 2024 which is a fansong but has a bunch of benefits usually seen for digital singles but no MV.
Obviously I haven't mentioned everything like their ambassadorships, their single bad decisions with benny blanco (mostly because I forgot about it), smaller promo like suchwita, JK's radio interviews, his visualisers, Jimin's Korean shows, either of their mnet performances, their myriad of tiktoks, their dance performances on youtube, JK's week-long station head parties or accompanying Yoongi on the D-Day tour. Plus as I said I can't mention the full length and breadth of JK's promo compared to Jimin in smaller aspects like number of remixes / remix albums or cd stock because this'll go on forever. And of course this is only the status as of today. We know pjm2 is coming as is probably a documentary for JK and their travel show together. Though I've probably missed out some things for both, I think I've covered the main points of both the solo eras.
There's a bunch of stuff happening here. For one JK's solo era is spaced out very well regardless of who else among BTS is releasing. While other members are clustered in specific times to avoid overlap, JK manages to have the most well spaced out solo era sometimes to the detriment of a member whose promo he might be encroaching on (debatable but I think it's true). The world cup gig which undoubtedly went to BTS being co-opted as JK's solo has never sit right with me but whatever. People can delude themselves about how in demand JK is but the truth is Latto, Jack Harlow and others probably got very well paid for collabing with JK and were certainly approached by Hybe / SB projects rather than the other way around. Same goes for them putting the full force of their marketing department in netting all those performances in the US plus awards. The new jeans controversy gave some insight into how Hybe can use their leverage to net spons, awards and performances when they want to. The fact that most of the collaborators JK had are good buddies with 🛴 isnt lost on any of us. JK's almost exclusive focus on the western market with all English songs is also noteworthy. I haven't even mentioned Jimin's sabotages because I can see how it's debatable but certainly JK's team at Hybe / SB projects were at the least way more careful handling his releases than whoever the hell is running things for Jimin at Hybe even if you don't want to acknowledge the sabotage he went through or the sheer disrespect of having his album release cut off by another members. Also not going into the bs with the delay in Jimin's RIAA certification just so that JK could get that first kpop soloist title or the insanity of Jimin's billboard sales filtering versus JK's premptive itunes preorder for seven before the official announcement of the BB rules change and helpful midweek sales updates that seven had.
After all this, it's amazing that JK's main point of comparison is Jimin. The fact that jjks and armys still feel this compulsive need to compare JK with Jimin after he releases something inspite of JK's peers supposedly being Taylor Swift now (their words not mine) speaks to both how JK was unable to capitalize on his heavy marketing and records versus how much Jimin was able to achieve with Face and Like Crazy.
JK managing to get the most likes on tiktok, staying on charts after heavy playlisting, becoming the darling of kpop stans - notoriously known for being visual stans and extremely fickle, and getting a bunch of kpop awards at the end of 2023 and probably 2024, having the most name recognition among all the members, still needing most of his streams for SNTY to come from Thailand, having album retail sales equal almost the same as Jimin inspite of the huge difference in gross album sales - are these really worthy accomplishments after this extremely long list of moves he's made? Jungkook was very popular to start out with and has always been the darling of armys - to the extent that he managed to avoid getting boycotted inspite of being associated and working with a bunch of zionists for golden. Apart from his new kpop fans, did he manage to net new fans during his solo era though? Or are his main fans still the armys he started out with in the first place from his time in BTS? Is this what anons in your asks think we're supposed to believe is impact?
Impact is what happened after BTS released Dynamite and Butter. A breakout star or single is what Baby was once upon a time for Justin Bieber or Espresso is to Sabrina Carpenter today. You get gp fans when you release good music like Olivia Rodrigo or Billie Eilish. You get critical acclaim when your albums have overarching themes that were carefully constructed and thought out like Beyonces albums. Your solo fanbase becomes more dedicated when you share parts of yourself in your music like Taylor Swift does.
When you make an album with care and dedication, then even when your label doesn't give a damn about you or actively tries to suppress you, your song can still chart more than a year later with your solo fanbase working dedicatedly towards you. That might not be a PCA, but it's a damn sight more valuable imo.
Sorry for how long this got. I just kept remembering more and more stuff to include...
Wow... This is such a perfectly summarized version of the major points and opinions we've all had since jimin's debut... I love it, this is probably the best ask and best post related to this whole thing i have ever read.
It is good for pjms who still ask certain questions about stuff we already talked about and I can never find the exact post where we already talked about it so I'll pin it.

David/Jake; all eventualities
Another Kickstarter fill, for the prompt: David showing commitment to Jake
It comes up at dinner with Jake’s sister. The Lourdes are very — candid with one another, David finds. Initially he found it uncomfortable, even sometimes alarming, but now he’s mostly used to it. Still, he didn’t expect Natalie to casually bring up making a will while twirling spaghetti on her fork.
“I know most people put it off,” she says. “But when kids are in the picture you can’t, you know? You have to make sure they’re taken care of. Not just financially, but you have to think of that too.”
“For sure,” Jake says. “You do know I would—“
“No, I know,” Natalie says, waving Jake away with her fork. “Still. I have Allie and Serge as guardians. No offence to you guys, obviously, she’s just, you know, already a mom. What’s one more, right?”
David is pretty sure it’s a little more strenuous than that, but then, he isn’t a parent, so maybe he's wrong. Jake doesn’t look offended, and David’s too busy suddenly considering the possibility of Jake having custody of his nephews, as small as it may be. He hadn’t really thought about it before, not even as a distant possibility.
“But you guys are the back up,” Natalie says.
“Sweet,” Jake says, completely unfazed, while David spends the rest of dinner methodically cutting his spaghetti down into smaller pieces.
“You know it’d never happen, right?” Jake says on the drive home.
“Hm?” David says.
“Me getting guardianship,” Jake says. “Nat’s just being thorough, checking all the boxes.”
“Oh,” David says. “I know.”
“You looked a little worried,” Jake says.
“I wasn’t worried,” David protests.
Obviously, that wasn’t true, but as David thinks about it more that night, Jake asleep beside him, he realises Jake’s right — the chance of both Natalie and Allie being unable to care for the children are infinitesimal, orders of magnitude smaller than the odds of, say, a collision each time David gets in a car. And that risk doesn’t stop him from getting into one almost every day.
But if David did get into a collision — and that would be the most likely cause of his premature death, statistically speaking — he wouldn’t have a will of his own. David likes to think he’s a responsible adult, and his bookkeeper praises his record keeping, but apparently that doesn’t extend to planning for the end of his life. It’s not like he’s never considered making one, given that he’s in a career where a shortened lifespan is unnervingly common, and just because he’s emerged from it more unscathed than others doesn’t necessarily mean he’s escaped long-term consequences, but it’s just — uncomfortable, he supposes.
If Jake died — David doesn’t even like thinking about it, but if he did, and he didn’t have a will, then his money would surely go to his family, and that seems right.
But if David died without a will? It’d probably all just go to his parents. He doesn’t think Jake would fight it, even if he had far more right to it than either of them.
He’d say it didn’t matter, that he had enough money, but it isn’t just money, is it? It’s David’s money, but it’s also property, furniture, keepsakes, from his Gold medal down to his pyjama shirts, plastic cracked and cotton faded. The things that belong to him — but if he isn’t around anymore, they’re Jake’s if he wants them.
*
“I want to write a will,” David says, after he thinks about it a few days, makes a preliminary appointment with an estate lawyer. He doesn’t think it’s a particularly inappropriate moment, sitting on the couch, half watching the news, waiting for the weather forecast, because Jake wants to go for a drive this week, maybe take a picnic basket along, but Jake turns the TV off, looking alarmed, so perhaps he didn’t choose the right one.
Or, well, David supposes he’d be alarmed if Jake suddenly announced that as well. Wonder if something had happened. If he had cancer, or—
“I don’t have cancer,” David says.
Jake looks, if anything, even more alarmed.
“Or anything else,” David says. “At least as far as I’m aware. I just — remember what Natalie said? About making a will?”
“Oh,” Jake says, and blows out a relieved breath so big it makes David startle.
“I haven’t made one myself,” David says. “Which was irresponsible of me.”
“I mean, I haven’t made one either,” Jake says.
“I’m not calling you irresponsible,” David says.
“No, I know,” Jake says. “Maybe I should, though.”
“I thought — if you were —“ David says. “If something happened, your family would get your money, right? And that’s how it should be.”
Jake’s frowning again, and David talks faster so he can hopefully explain himself before Jake misunderstands him again.
“If I didn’t have a will, my money would go to my parents,” David says, and the frown’s gone again, replaced by something closer to — it isn’t pity, David thinks. Hopes, at least. “Your family, they’ve been — supportive of you. Present. My parents — they don’t deserve anything of mine.”
“No,” Jake says. “They don’t.”
“So I think I’d like to make a will,” David says.
Jake reaches out, squeezes David’s hand. “Sounds like a good thing to have, just in case.”
“Yes,” David says. “Exactly. Did you want to — should we check the weather?”
“Okay,” Jake says, and when he turns the TV back on, the forecast sprawls across the screen, all sunshine.
“Good weather for a drive,” David says.
“Perfect weather,” Jake says, and squeezes his hand again.

Yandere miguel with a villain!reader, or civilian!Reader
Reader is the variant of another villain he used to fight and fell in love with, until they died.
Now they're back, reader is kinda like black cat in the way of how they try not to hurt anyone while they do crimes.
He hates himself for being such a creep. Watching you through his cameras every single day. Watching you shower. Watching you sleep. Watching you change into that skin-tight suit every night, stripping yourself of your real identity to put on that alter-ego that makes you you.
But you were...here. And even though you were dead in his universe, he couldn't help but quench his never ending thirst of seeing you in a different universe. Different layout, different bed, and different job. But the same decorations around the house, the same quirks you make when speaking to people, the same music taste, and the same drive.
He couldn't get enough of it. And when he nearly had his ass handed back to him by you, getting caught like a dumbass, he couldn't find it in himself to stop bothering the pieces of the universe that weren't his to meddle with.
He laid on the most uncomfortable concrete street ever. In pain, injured and heaving every single breath. But you laid next to him like the street was a memory foam mattress, playing with the designs of his mask as if nothing ever happened. The metal claw on your finger gently grazes over his face through the mask and he closes his eyes. Your scent of cinnamon spice and ginger calmed him. It shouldn't, but he doesn't care.
"You're not my Spiderman." You speak to him with a soft smile on your face.
".....Yeah." He croaks. He tries to ignore the pang of jealousy, knowing the flimsy Spiderman of this universe doesn't deserve seeing you at all, whatsoever. Miguel knows that guy wouldn't treat you the way you deserve. Give you the fun you deserve.
"You don't look anything like him. Don't sound like him. You don't smell like him either.......who are you?"
He believes the flimsy black eye mask you use to 'conceal' your identity doesn't work at all. But the way you moved so fast when fighting him distracted him anyways. You were beautiful, even in your parallel universe. Those striking eyes were hard to ignore, the playful energy you exuded was enough to nearly send him over.
"I'm....still Spiderman."
"Really? You act more like an animal than an arachnid. Also, where'd you hide my money?"
"I didn't hide it. I gave it back."
"Ugh, now I have to go alllll the way back to the bank. Thanks a lot, spider-guy."
That's not what you call this universe's Spiderman. You call him all of the sweeter names. Bitsy. Spidey. Hero. Babe. He needs you to say that to him. But you were already walking away from him.
He struggled to sit up as you left. "Wait-" You slipped away into the night, but he couldn't help feeling happy for finally talking to you in person for the first time. He has next time to speak. And all other times he 'visits' your universe.

Hi! You asked for Aventurine requests among others, so I hope that you like this one? (Also, no pressure to accept this request! But thank you in advance for reading it <3) Could I maybe request Aventurine with an FTM!reader who dresses rather femininely? Reader can sometimes get rather insecure due to how people see him (either misgendering him or mocking him for being a trans man who still likes dressing femininely), so Aventurine comforts him and spoils him by getting him all the feminine clothing he likes. Idk, I thought it would be really sweet. I hope that request was coherent in any way. As I said, no pressure to do this if you aren't comfortable with it, but thank you so much in advance if you do! And thank you so much for writing fem readers, there's so little representation for us and it means the world to me <3
✧ a/n: if i had a nickel for everytime someone requested (one of) my comfort character(s) with an FtM reader who dresses femininely who gets a little insecure i'd have two nickels!!!! which isnt a lot but im soo happy it happened twice!!!!
fr tho thank you for this ask ehe.... healing my inner younger adult or sumn (shoutout to one of my exes who was super into femboys and completely killed my fashion sense) also idk where this name came from i just felt it. idk.

When you transitioned, you didn’t kill off your fashion, no, quite the opposite. It had never felt quite right to be called a girl, to be considered a woman. The clothes you wore had nothing to do with it, you were sure. Still, for a little bit after your public transition, you tried to dress more “traditionally masculine”, but it was only when you started wearing dresses and skirts and anything perceived as “feminine” that you felt truly at ease.
It was also around then that you got odd looks, and more mistakes and misgendering. Most of the time it was from strangers, so you chose to ignore it. It had no real effect on you since they were strangers, and their own opinions didn’t matter to you.
In doing this, you gained confidence, not that you didn’t have any before. You were simply presenting yourself how you liked, and you didn’t give a damn about who saw you as what. This confidence is what drew Aventurine’s attention to you, he quite enjoyed your slight flair for the dramatic, how ethereal you looked in certain dresses, and all around… you. He had never really fallen for someone as hard as he fell for you.
He pampers you as is, of course. Anything you want is yours, perhaps even three times over. No time to even say ‘I want’ or ‘I would like’, it’s yours. Especially clothes. He’s a bit of a fashionista himself, after all. You see a pretty dress you like? He’s buying it, and maybe a suit to match. Even a ball gown, something a little too formal for every-day wear? Don’t worry, he’ll find a reason to wear it.
Aventurine finds you pretty handsome any day of the week, even on your worst days, your most dysphoric days, where you want to do nothing but lie down in bed, dressed only in a massive t-shirt and boxers, unable to tame your disheveled looks. Which, those days seem to be becoming more and more frequent.
It had been quite a while since you two started dating, and you yourself knew dating one of the Ten Stonehearts would put some direct attention onto you. He wasn’t necessarily a celebrity, but of course paparazzi fled to him like flies to honey. And with that, you end up in the crossfire.
You do your best to ignore it, even when pictures of you and Aventurine end up on social media, even when the posts shift from referring to you as his ‘partner’, to his ‘girlfriend’, even when the comments referred to you as his girlfriend from the start. You shouldn’t let it get to you, you tell yourself, they’re just strangers is all, and they have no real connection to you. And yet, you can’t help but keep scrolling through those comments.
‘She’s so lucky!!’
‘I wish I was his girlfriend’
‘why can’t i be her :(‘
‘i’d give anything to be his GIRL’
Every little she, every little ‘girl’ gets to you. It cuts like knives, reopening old wounds you had forgotten about. Those words take root in your heart and you withdraw into yourself. Aventurine had been out on a… business trip, and you were left to wallow in your own dysphoric hell by yourself. Simply staring into your closet makes you feel sick, not even the clothes, but knowing that this is what you wore, and that is simply how people will perceive you from then on, his girlfriend. It hurts, dammit.
Despite the sickening pit forming in your stomach, you can't help but continue to scroll through the comments. Very few know of you, given your limited social media presence, even if Aventurine had tagged you in a couple posts of his own and even referred to you as his boyfriend. The few comments that mention you that do refer to you properly do not wash out just how many more had all sunk their fangs into the word ‘she’.
You finally pry your phone away from your eyes, turning it off and putting it face down as you bury your head into the plush pillows beneath you. You want to scream, to cry, but ultimately you are left with silence. Which turns out to be even worse, stuck with your thoughts that take hold and rip any semblance of confidence you had. Those words sink even deeper into your very bones, a reminder that you aren’t in the same leagues as a cis man, that perhaps you never will be. And then, the words ‘not a real boy’ start to rise. And slowly, that voice becomes louder, and louder, and lou–
You are interrupted by the muffled chime of a video call, raising your head and simply staring at your phone for a couple more moments. You knew exactly who was calling you, of course, he was the only one you really video called these days. And now, you didn’t even know if you wanted to pick up the phone. To you, it meant looking at yourself, seeing a girl. Doesn’t matter how little your portrait was in the corner, you’d still be there, all the same.
As if it was instinct, however, you pick up your phone and accept the call. You feel as if you immediately regret this decision, watching as your face pops up half-hidden by the sheets of your unkempt bed, finally minimizing into the corner.
“Hey handsome,” Aventurine starts, flashing you a pretty smile. He was driving, eyes on the road (thankfully), but peering at the phone every now and then. “How’s your night going, hm?”
“Good.” You mumbled, doing your best to sound at the very least okay. Your voice is muffled by the sheets and rather heavy, groggy.
“Awh, did I wake you up? I’m sorry,” He coos, still not looking at his phone, which you thank whichever Aeon you have to for that. “Just missed you is all.”
“It’s okay,” You manage to squeak out, tracing over his features mentally. He himself seemed so tired, despite how hard he played the relaxed character, you could tell that whatever meeting he had just gotten out of didn’t necessarily go all that well. “I missed you, too.”
You can see Aventurine smile, but silence fills the space between you two. The faint rumbling of the car on the road is soothing in a way, not too loud but not too quiet, enough to keep your thoughts from drifting. Perhaps you really are tired, with how easy it feels to fall asleep at the moment. Perhaps you were just tired, and that’s why such words got to you… and yet, as you did your best to surrender to sleep, Aventurine’s voice pulled you right back into reality.
“Have you been crying?” He doesn’t even tiptoe around it. It seems he had finally parked, and he finally got a good look at you.
“Uhm–” You hadn’t even known you were crying, it seems you were so hyper-focused on just how you looked too much of a woman, and how badly you just did not want to see yourself.
“Hey, hey, what happened?” You can’t really lie to Aventurine, he’s pretty damn perceptive and it’s a little scary. Not just that, but he tends to worry about you, considering his luck doesn’t affect you. Seeing as he’s a whole star system away, he has every right to worry.
“It’s fine,” You groan, readjusting in the bed and doing what you could to hide your face while still allowing him to see some of it. You know you can’t get your way out of it, but deflect nonetheless. “Life sucks, is all.”
Aventurine purses his lips and furrows his brows, before clicking his tongue and shaking his head. He lets it go, for now. “Well, whatever it is, I’ll be home in like… three days, okay?” His voice softens from his usual sly tone.
You utter a low effort ‘mhm’, unable to conjure up any other words or sounds. You can see the worry creep into his expression, and somehow, it makes you think of a horrible, wretched question in the face of things.
“Do you see me as a girl?”
He lets out a ‘huh?’ before the question fully processes in his head. “No! Not at all! Why would you think that?” He raises his voice slightly, not panicked but as if in a rush to soothe your mind.
“I dunno. Seems like everyone else sees me as your girlfriend.” You huff, tilting your head.
“Well that’s them. You’re my boyfriend.”
“But–”
“Nuh uh. You’re my boyfriend. You’re a boy. Nothing else. Unless you wanna be my Husband?”
Aventurine’s cheeky tone returned and it caused a blush to bloom across your cheeks. You’re more surprised by the question itself, rightfully so, and it felt like it came out of left field. He chuckles at your reaction, raising his eyebrows, before shaking his head.
“What makes you think that, love?” He continues on if he hadn’t said anything, his voice softening once more.
You still once more, shaking your head. You feel as if you’ve already answered the question– you did– but, there was more than just that. “‘Cause of how I dress… do you even like it? Like... all the dresses and skirts and stuff."
“Of course I do!” He answers so quickly, placing his hand over his chest as if he was offended. “You look stunning! No matter how you dress. Is it annoying you?”
“... No.”
“Then you shouldn’t worry, okay? I love you, you know that, right?”
You nod meagerly, unable to find words. His reassurance helps a lot, but it would still take you a couple days to shake it off. For now, you would keep away from social media– especially those that were dedicated to Aventurine– to keep your head clear.
“C’mon, say it back,” Aventurine coos, “Or else I’ll start to feel a little hurt.”
“Love you too.”
“I’ll settle,” He huffs, but still his voice takes on a gentler tone once more. “Now, I’ll see you soon, okay? And I have a lot of gifts for you.”
WIth that, you two say your goodnights, and he promises you once more that he sees you as a man, regardless of how you dress or how you feel. You felt lighter, for sure, and were quite anxious and excited for Aventurine to come home. And the next days go by painfully slow, your mood dipping and rising equally, and yet, you were able to keep away from the same comments that had tanked your comfort within your body.
When Aventurine comes back home though, his arms are practically full of all sorts of boxes, jewelry boxes, and bags stuffed with Qilpoth knows how many clothes. He had to have someone help him bring his own luggage back to your apartment. He’s practically beaming, the fact that his gifts take up the entire couch was like an achievement for him. He showers you in kisses and praises and ‘I love you’s before he allows you to open his gifts.
He’s brought home almost an entire closet, pretty dresses, some rather formal, and even a ball gown, suits, as well, and a bunch of necklaces, bracelets, and rings. Many are adorned with gemstones, and most of those are aventurine stones. ‘For good luck’, he says, as if he didn’t know exactly what he was doing.
One gift, however, stands out among the rest. It isn’t big and poofy, it doesn’t shine, nor is it considered… formal. It’s a simple sundress, covered in floral designs, the material was light and airy. It’s beautiful as is, quite striking in its simplicity considering Aventurine’s fashion sense.
“It’s starting to get warm, y’know?” He shrugs, as you stare at it, running your thumb along the hem of its sleeves. “Wanted you to have something to wear, something pretty– not that the rest of your clothes aren’t pretty, but…”
As he stumbles over his words, you look at him and pull him into a kiss, one that isn’t quite heated, but rather tender and soft. When you pull away, there are practically stars in his eyes, and it seems you’ve soothed his own mind. Yet, his face is burning up, practically bright red as he looks away and clears his throat.
“Ahem… just wanted to, uh, let you know how pretty you are,” His voice shakes ever so slightly, as if a kiss was more bold than him proposing marriage. “And I wanted you to flaunt it.”

Prt 2 to my cuddling headcanons. Includes: Nikolai, Laswell, Valeria, Alejandro, Rudy, König, and Graves
Nikolai intentionally keeps his place cold. That way you're forced to cuddle up to him. I think he prefers facing each other, your head tucked beneath his. But he's adaptable and willing to cuddle however is easiest for you to fall asleep.
Kate is always in bed after you are. She's a busy woman, so she's got long nights. Sometimes she just slips into bed and passes out. But some nights, she'll either pull you closer to her, or she'll mold her body against yours. Depends on what's easier for her.
Valeria is also a busy woman, but she's always home in time to catch some sleep with you. You spoon when you cuddle. Sometimes you’re the big spoon, sometimes you’re the little spoon. Depends on how you’re facing, when she gets home. She prefers being the little spoon, so she can face the door, but it’s also because she likes having your arms around her.
Alejandro insists that when you cuddle, he’s the big spoon. But he’s a liar. There’s nothing he loves more than coming home after a busy day, and falling into your lap, his face pressed against your stomach. He gets so comfortable like that, that you both end up falling asleep on the couch. Your back hurts the next day, but knowing he got sleep is worth it.
Rudy loves to cuddle. Have you seen him? He’s got the build to be the best cuddler. His favorite position is having you in his lap, your back to his chest, his arm wrapped around your waist. Makes him feel good about himself, even on his worst days. Like he can protect you from the world (he probably can).
König’s favorite way to cuddle is you on top of him. The man is so big that even if you were plus sized, he’d be fine. He welcomes the compression and lowkey enjoys being able to hold you like a stuffed animal. You don’t stay like that for too long, after he falls asleep. He moves around too much, but you always wake up with his face pressed into the crook of your neck, one of his massive arms wrapped around you.
Graves refuses to admit it, but he loves being the little spoon. He’s always in charge, bossing other people around, and it’s nice to just be held, to let someone else take care of him. He likes it, when you’re laying in bed, his face squished against your chest, your nails raking through his hair. It puts the man to sleep in seconds flat, and it’s the one thing he misses the most when he’s on deployment.
