I’m sure you get this a lot, but how to you balance the colors so well? Mine are blended but it doesn’t work too well, and the only other option I know is harshly lined shadows. Also, keep up the amazing work!

Hi, thank you so much for the support. 💕💕 I actually must confess I don’t get a lot of color asks. I struggle a lot with coloring tbh. It’s not really my forte, so I recommend looking into color theory. There’s this really nice video that explains this in depth and I thought it was a really good tutorial. 😊

If watching the video is too much I can give you some tips that work for me but please be aware the guy in the video knows more than I do, and you’d benefit more by watching it.

This is gonna get a bit long...

It really helps me using complimentary colours and working with palettes. Also using colours next to each other in the colour wheel can create a very harmony filled look.

The author of the video called this using analogous colours. I didn’t know what that was called but I’ve been using that technique for a while haha. So I think it works for me.

I’m not sure what software you’re using, but seeing the colours of your piece together can really help you see if the art will have harmony when you color it. For me it’s still a bit of trial and error. But I try to limit my pictures to a few colours and if I use a lot of colours I try to make sure there’s not more than 2 dominants.

In the pic below I used a very saturated yellow for things I wanted to stand out like the blanket then that would guide the viewer to deceit, with a kind of desaturated red for Roman because in the first panel he is the secondary. The bg is very desaturated too so it doesn’t become too overwhelming.

In the second panel yellow is more dominant than red in amount, but also it’s more desaturated. Because in this one, Roman’s eyes are the main thing that will guide the viewer to the door. They are the most saturated and will draw more attention. Everything else is kinda pale.

Also to unify both characters, the shade of Dee’s hair is leaning more towards a red tone while Ro’s is leaning more towards orange/yellow. It’s just something that can make your characters feel more harmonic with each other... if you give them little details from the other characters without overwhelming their palette.

Purple is also complimentary to yellow but it is minimal comparing it to the amount of yellow and red. Green is complimentary to red but is almost non existent here as it is only used for the plush eye. If you want to use tons of colours just make sure you’re not using them in the same amount and saturation in your pic or things can get a bit too much.

I also try to practice the contrast and saturation on values by using a limited color palette. And this kind of helped to understand what parts of your drawing will draw the most attention by using the few colours you have.

When it comes to coloring shadows, I like to use browns, blues, purples, dark reds on a multiply layer set to 30% opacity. I almost never do harsh shadows, cuz I’m not confident enough yet tbh. But I also like the softer look that not overly harsh shadows give the pic. One thing I’m very sceptical with is the use of pure black tinted grays to color your shadows, if you’re not careful, pure grays can make your pic look dirty.

This is one of my first digital pieces. It has a lot of issues but we’re going to ignore everything that’s not color related for the time being. First of all what I can see here is that there’s too much clashing. Every single one is very saturated, even the background, to the point it’s just too overwhelming.

Some of the shadows in the face are gray and as you can see they end up looking like dirt. The shadows on the clothes and the skin of the arms are also not working.

Instead of using a darker shade of every color I had I should have chosen a single color set it to multiply in a low opacity and use that to color my shadows.

My shading technique is far from perfect. It’s a bit improvised... that’s something I’m still working on improving. But anyways, here I really quickly used different colours on low opacity on a multiply layer for the shadow. On the third one I also used the eraser tool on low opacity for get rid of the harsh edges on the shadow on the arm.

They’re not perfect but they already look a lot more like shadows and not dirt. So I’ll take that as an improvement. 👌

Anyways I’m so sorry this turned into a sort of never ending tutorial thing. I’m not an expert in coloring at all, and there are a lot of people both here on tumblr and other platforms that talk about this subject extensively and offer better tips and help. But I hope this helped in some way!

Try to have fun and experiment different things! See what works for you and what you like in your pics.

Ps: as a final unrelated note that is a kid version of Vlad Masters from Danny phantom. Which means it’s been more than 10 years and I still haven’t outgrown the trend of making children out of my faves. I think that says something but I’m not sure what.

Fave color: Elliot's favorite color is green, but he's a purple colored kind of person, if that makes sense. like his hair is dark purple, his eyes are purple, his soul color is purple (i made him around the time i was still sorta into Undertale, so a lot of my characters from around this time have soul colors)

moral alignment: that's a bit iffy, bc he came from a, you know, not very good homelife, so he ran away from home at a young age, so he couldn't do a lot of consistent work, so stealing was the only viable option much of the time, but only when he needed it i suppose, so probably like somewhere on the neutral alignment? if that's waht you mean? he's not afraid to pull a gun on you if he feels threatened, he's a very small person and not like SUPER strong, but he does his best

Hobbies: let me remember, i haven't thought about this for about a year or two. I know he's a mechanic. he was sort of adopted by a biker leader in either Seattle or Chicago (pretty sure it was Chicago) around like 13 or 14? and Elliot didn't do SUPER well in school, but he took very well to mechanics, so after high school, he took a job in a uh car service shop. i think he likes knitting too? but also, this was back when he was still an 18 year old cis-female in design and character and such, but like he went thru a design change, first being afab genderfluid, then amab genderfluid, then ftm, which made me start on my journey of ✨gender crisis✨

any pets: not when he was alive? oh yeah. he's a ghost. uh. i should explain that. i. uh.

off topic, but necessary background: so, the story he's from, it takes place in the after life? it's sort of based off of the book On A Pale Horse, a story about the Grim Reaper. it's a really dumb book, but i like it and i like to make fun of it, and i liked the idea of how the Grim Reaper works, it's like a job? and like every so often people take over from the old Grim Reaper, but only if your soul is balanced between Heaven and Hell. Not a recommended read actually. it's kinda weird. ANYWAY. so Elliot's soul was, you know, balanced, so he had a chance to work to be able to go to heaven? ig? my logic is not the best. and Anubis, the actual (but poorly researched) egyptian god of death is like one of the reapers of the world? there's i think like. one per continent. sorry if this doesn't make sense.

any pets con't: *deep breath* anyway, yes, now he has a black cat with Anubis. i can't remember the name of the cat, but i know i had one for the kitty

GNC: in theory, yes, but my artstyle only really leans towards either barely masculine or super feminine. i think Elliot is the closest i've gotten to GNC, but i'd have to actually make some fucking literal art showing him :/

also, he's my trauma character, so like, a lot of his background is super triggering. like. it's. "i need therapy" bad. him and Anubis were made around the time i started projecting my depression onto them, more Elliot then Anubis, but Anubis still got projected somewhat. i really didn't realize i was, you know, depressed.

i still need therapy.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (Newt Scamander x Reader)

Chapter 8: The Blind Pig

*3rd PERSON POV*

Tina leads the four of you down an insalubrious back alley covered in bins, crates, and discarded objects. She locates a set of steps leading to a basement apartment and motions you, Newt, Jacob and Queenie down. The steps lead to, what appears to be, a dead end: the doorway has been bricked up. Instead, a poster of a simpering debutante in an evening dress, gazing at herself in a mirror, covers the end of the walkway. Tina and Queenie stand in front of this, turn to each other and, in unison, raise their wands.

As they do so, their work clothes transforms into stunning flapper party dresses. Newt hastily magics himself a bow tie and you raise your wand as well and change from a button up shirt and black pants to a beautiful (fave color) dress. Queenie gazes at Jacob, a cheeky smile on her face as Tina steps towards the poster and knocks four times.

As she knocks, Queenie looks over at Newt and sees he has a look of amazement and awe on his face. And he was staring at none other than you. She looks amazing! Beautiful, actually! Queenie hears in Newt's mind. She smiles to herself as the hatch opens: the painted eye of the debutante whip back to reveal the gaze of a suspicious guard.

After getting clearance, the five of you walk into the seedy, low-ceilinged speakeasy, where every down and out of New York's magical community come to unwind. A glamorous goblin jazz singer croons on a stage full of goblin musicians, smoky images wafting from her wand to illustrate her lyrics:

The Phoenix cried fat tears of pearl

When the dragon snapped up his best

girl,

And the Billywig forgot to twirl

When his sweetheart left him cold,

And the unicorn done lost his horn,

And the Hippogriff feels all forlorn,

Cause their lady loves have upped and

gawn,

Or that's what I've been told

As the singing continues, Jacob stand by a seemingly unmanned bar, waiting to be served. "How do I get a drink in this joint?" He asked, aloud, when a thin bottle of brown liquid zooms towards him, out of nowhere, he catches it, stunned. The head of a house-elf peers up at him from behind the bar. "What? Ain't you ever seen a house-elf before?" The elf asked him, eyeing him suspiciously. "Oh, no, yeah, no, yeah, of course I have....I love house-elves. My uncle's a house-elf." Jacob said, trying to act nonchalant about it as he removes the cork from the bottle.

The house-elf, not fooled, raises himself up, leaning against on the bar to stare at Jacob as you and Queenie approach the bar. "Six shots of gigglewater, please." Queenie said, looking downcast. "And a lobe blaster, please." You ordered and the house-elf shuffles off to fulfill the request.

Queenie and Jacob look at each other while you look around the bar. "Are all No-Majs like you?" Queenie asked him. "No, I'm the only one like me." Jacob replied trying to sound serious and almost seductive as he reaches over and takes one of the gigglewater shots.

Maintaining strong eye contact with Queenie, Jacob knocks back a shot and emits a raucous, high pitched giggle. You snorted and cover your mouth with your hand as Queenie laughs, sweetly, at him.

Across the room, Newt, who can't help but stare at you, and Tina are sitting at a table alone. "I've arrested half of the people in here." Tina said, looking around the bar, and Newt turns his attention to her. "You can tell me to mind my own business....but (Y/N) and I saw something in that death potion back there. We saw you hugging that Second Salem boy." He said as Tina moves her gaze from him, looking off to the side.

She lets out a deep breath and said. "His names Credence. His mother beats him. She beats all those kids she adopted, but she seems to hate him the most."

"And she was the No-Maj you attacked?" Newt asked her.

"That's how I lost my job. I went for her in front of a meeting of her crazy followers---they all had to be Obliviated. It was a big scandal." She finished as Gnarklak emerged from the depths of the speakeasy, smoking a cigar and smartly dressed for a goblin.

He eyes the newcomers as he walks over to Tina's and Newt's table and sits down. "So you're the guy with the case full of monsters, huh?" He asked Newt. "News travels fast. I was hoping you'd be able to tell me if there have been any sightings. Tracks. That sort of thing." Newt replied as Gnarlak downs his drink and a house-elf brings him a document to sign.

"You and that lady friend of yours have a big price on your heads, Mr Scamander. Why should I help you instead of turnin' you in?" He asked.

"I take it I'll have to make it worth your while?" Newt asked him as the house-elf scurries off, holding the signed document.

"Hmm--let's consider it a cover charge." Gnarlak said. Newt pulls out a couple of Galleons and slides them across the table toward the goblin, who barely looks up. "Huh---MACUSA's offerin' more 'n that." He said, unimpressed.

Newt, then, pulls out a beautiful metal instrument and places it on the table. "Lunascope? I've got five." Gnarlak said as he continues to smoke his cigar. Newt rummages in his coat pocket and pulls out a glowing, frozen ruby egg instead. "Frozen Ashwinder egg!" He said.

As he was doing this, you decided to walk over to them and sit next to Newt. "You see--now we're---" Gnarlak said, now sounding like he is interested, but stops when he sees Pickett poking out of Newt's pocket. "Wait a minute! Is that a Bowtruckle?" He asked, pointing at the creature. "What?" You ask as Newt places his hand over his pocket, protecting the creature. He turns to the goblin and said. "No. Absolutely not!"

"Come on. They pick locks, am I right?" The goblin said.

"You're not having him" Newt said. Gnarlak gets up from his chair and said."Well, good luck gettin' back alive, Mr Scamander and Miss (L/N), what with the whole of MACUSA on your backs."

He starts to walk away until....

"Wait!" You shouted and the goblin stops in his track. "Take me instead." You said while the goblin smiles evily.

"What? No! Absolutely not, (y/n)!" Newt said, quickly.

"I'll take Pickett's place." You said.

"Well, well, well." The goblin said as Newt shakes his head at you, feeling like his heart being ripped out. "Don't do this, (y/n)." He said, shakily.

You give him a small smile and kiss his cheek. "Find the rest of our creatures and get out of New York safely." You whisper in his ear and then you get up from your chair and walk over to the goblin. "Take me instead, I can do so much for your little pub but only if you tell him what he needs to know." You said. The goblin looks at you, smiling viciously, then snaps his fingers as two more goblins come up next to him.

"Boys, take our new girl to the back and have her ready for her first day on the job." He said as the two hench-goblins grab your arms and take you away from Newt, who looks away and wipes tears from his eyes with the back of his hand.

"Beautiful....anyway somethin' invisible's been wreakin' havoc around Fifth Avenue. You may wanna check out Macy's department store. Might help with what you're looking for." Gnarlak said as Newt sniffs and clears his throat, trying to compose himself even though he feels empty without you there. He was kicking himself for not admitting his true feelings towards you sooner.

"Right." He said, croaky. "Oh, one last thing. There's a Mr Graves who works at MACUSA---I was wondering what you knew of his background." He said to Gnarlak, who stares at him.

"You ask too many questions, Mr Scamander. That can get you killed." The goblin said when suddenly someone screamed. "MACUSA ARE COMING!!"

And a bunch of house-elves Disapparate. Tina gets to her feet and glares at Gnarlak. "You tipped them off!" She said angrily. Gnarlak chuckles menacingly as wanted posters of you, Newt and Tina appear on the wall. Aurors begin Apparating as Jacob saunters up to Gnarlak. "Sorry, Mr Gnarklak--" Jacob said and he punches the goblin straight in the face, knocking him backward. Queenie looks at him, delighted. "Reminds me of my foreman!" Jacob replied as Newt stands up and runs towards the back.

Meanwhile, as the goblins brought you to the back you hear someone shouting about the MACUSA coming and you turn around and face the goblins. "So sorry about this." You said, sincerely, and you whip your wand out and shouted. "Stupefy!" And blast the goblins away. You smile to yourself as you open the door and run out of the room. "NEWT!" You shout as you run and suddenly you collide with something solid.

You look up and see the familiar green eyes. "Newt." You said, smiling. "(Y/N)! Thank Paracelsus you're okay!" He said as the both of you hug each other and he kisses the top of your head. Tina, Queenie and Jacob come up behind him and the five of you met up and Disapparate.

I actually answered a similar question a while ago! But I can’t find it so I guess to sum it up I mostly think at some point it’d just become something both of them have talked about throught the years enough times that by then it’ll just be something they are gonna do, sooner or later, and when it’ll happen it’ll be more like “we have a stable income and a house and a dog and a cat and are p much already married we should really do this already” - in a scenario like that either of the two works, for me haha

Thank you so much for liking my kids!!!! ;O; and sadly I can’t tell you too much about them cause their story is a bit still up in the air as far as details go, but in general they used to be best friends back when they were kids, then the accident that gave Leo his scars happened and for reason they lost track of each other for a long while - they met again recently, tho! Leo’s been in love with Max since they were babies and being able to talk to him and interact with him again makes him incredibly happy/mushy/soft but also absurdly and unreasonably overprotective since he’s really, really scared of losing him again - Max… because of plot-related reasons hasn’t realized that Leo is the kid he used to know back when he was super young, so his falling in love with him happens as the story progresses. He finds the overprotectiveness silly and unecessary, but he doesn’t exactly mind it? He has a feeling it helps Leo more than it helps him, so he lets him do his thing. All in all, maybe Max takes more care of Leo than Leo of Max. Welp, their story is kind of a mess haha

The Love of The Dancing Clown

I was inspired to write a Pennywise drabble. No there will be no smut involved XD sorry guys. This is just pure sweet romantic fluff with some angst in there. This drabble does take some creative liberties with Penny’s background and is a bit AU. However, I do hope you enjoy it all the same.

Pennywise the Dancing Clown was an old soul. Older than the children of Derry could ever have comprehended. But, did he always look like a demonic clown? Oh no, for you see Pennywise once looked like you or me. He wasn’t always the painted faced demon we see. Oh no children, Pennywise was once a normal man. And the children of Derry would soon discover this when an accident occurred in the room of dolls. For you see that is where Pennywise kept the one thing that meant everything to him.

On one of the shelves high away from the rest of the dolls sat a beautiful porcelain ballerina. She had long flowing sun-kissed red hair, rosy cheeks that stood out on her pale skin. Beneath the long red eyelashes lay beautiful bottle green eyes. Yet her beautiful face was always sad.

Yet one of the boys went to attack Pennywise, but the weapon went flying and broke into the shelf. Pennywise looked up and felt his heart stop as the doll fell to the floor with an ear-shattering sound. Pennywise’s heart stopped momentarily as his eyes flashed to a normal pair of blue eyes. The children saw this and were instantly confused only to become horrified again when the demon clown let out a blood-curdling scream. Eddie took notice before the others, he had always been a perceptive little boy. The clown ran to the doll and fell to his knees as his eyes beheld the shattered body. He wanted to touch her, he wanted to pick her up and cradle her. But his hands were shaking and he was afraid to do so. He was afraid to damage her even more. That was when the children heard a name escape his painted lips in sobs.

Alice....

Alice was an acrobat at a circus, Pennywise was a clown who traveled from circus to circus enjoying the laughter of children who watched. Often times Pennywise and the other clowns would act as spotters for the highwire acts. They stalked the base of the nets to make sure nothing went wrong. And Pennywise was the best. His keen eyes were trained on his beautiful Alice like a hawk every show. The two were in love, deeply in love, and everyone around them supported the couples union.

All but one...

The Magician, he was white with anger. He wanted Alice to himself and he vowed that if he couldn’t have her then no one could.

And so one night when Pennywise and Alice were walking around the camp, the magician followed. He watched from affair as the gangly clown dropped to one knee and proposed to Alice. The magician’s blood boiled as she said yes and they shared a romantic kiss. That should have been him! He should be the one placing the ring on her finger and be kissing her!! In a blind rage, the magician ran forward and raised his wand. With his spell, he struck Pennywise right in the chest.

Alice screamed as she watched him fall as his body started changing. Pennywise screamed as he saw his own hands growing into large grotesque claw-like digits. He roared as he watched Alice being turned into a Doll. Before he could finish the spell Pennywise ripped out his throat.

Pennywise rocked back and forth on his knees sobbing as his chest was filled with pain. Eddie, despite the fact his friends tried to stop him, walked closer to the clown. Pennywise’s hand grabbed Eddie’s neck. “THIS IS YOUR FAULT! YOUR FAULT!” He screamed as his demonic face started to take over. “YOUR FAAAAUUULLT!!!”

“I can fix her!!”

The roaring died down as his eyes still glowed. “How? How can you fix her?! Are you magic!? Can you reverse the spell and bring her back?!”

“Spell?” Richie spoke up this time. “What spell?”

Pennywise’s face snapped back to Richie as he placed Eddie back down on his feet. His eyes stopped glowing, his face became normal again. But his eyes turned those sad blue as his voice almost sounded human... “A spell was placed upon us...I was turned into the demon you see...forced to kill children...and see the love of my life..forever with me but I can never touch her...I can never hold her in my arms...” His hands shook.

“If we can fix her...will you go away and not ever return.”

“I CAN’T!” He roared causing them to step back. “Don’t you see...I can’t as long as the spell is here. I will forever be cursed to be the demon clown. I will be forced to kill children!” He roared “I love children...I loved making them laugh...hearing their sounds of joy.” he touched his chest and sighed. “Such...sweet sounds...” he sighed again as a tear fell down his cheek. “Every time I killed a child my soul screamed for that innocent life lost. My soul cried for the child as I heard their screams of terror and pain!” he sobbed as he fell to his knees. “I am a damned soul...never to be forgiven for my sins against them...”

Suddenly, Eddie got an idea. “Guys that's it! If we forgive him this could all end. I read it in an old book my mom had. The one thing that can cure all is forgiveness.”

“How can we forgive him?! He killed Georgie!”

“But what if this is our chance to save everyone else!” Eddie countered Bill’s argument almost immediately. Then he turned to the huddled form of Pennywise. “I forgive you...” He said softly causing Pennywise to look up as more tears fell from his eyes. His tears now smearing the greasepaint that had forever colored his skin.

“Y-you do?” He asked softly not believing his words.

“I forgive you.” Said another

“I forgive you....”

Bill was the only one who wouldn’t say it. He couldn’t say it. He looked away from the Clown arms crossed in front of his chest.

“Bill.....” He looked up and saw Georgie standing there in his little yellow rain jacket and boots. “Bill we have to forgive him.”

“No Georgie...no....”

But Georgie walked forward and placed his hand on Pennywise’s fave. “I forgive you, Pennywise.” Pennywise felt his heart thumping in his chest. Louder and louder it grew. “I forgive you Pennywise...”

“I forgive you Pennywise...” more voices echoed Georgie’s as the spirits of all the children he had ever harmed surrounded him. Pennywise sat on his knees crying and crying as the light surrounded him. Their souls leaving his being. With each glowing orb that left his body began to change. His hair was no longer orange, his face now slowly turning to human-like features. To the shock of the children...Pennywise...wasn't’ much older than them. He was a young man with gentle features and sad eyes.

“I am so sorry...” he said in his original voice. A voice he had long forgotten, which now sounded strange to his ears.

Georgie’s ghost looked towards Bill as he was the only one who hadn’t said it yet. “Bill...” He begged softly as his older brother started to cry.

“I forgive you...Pennywise....”

As soon as he spoke the words, Pennywise gasped as a bright light shot from his body and spread all over the city of Derry. Once the light vanished all the souls were gone. Georgie was gone...but the children now stood in shock of another presence in the room. A woman now stood behind Pennywise, her vibrant red hair and beautiful green eyes gazed down upon the weeping man with loving eyes. She walked over to him, her hand caressing his sharp jaw as he turned his head to her. More tears fell as he stood to embrace her and once he did their bodies began to fade. The woman smiled at the children “Thank you....” she said softly as their bodies faded as a light seemed to come from the sky and envelop them and the children.

Bill jerked awake in his bed with his alarm clock blaring. He sat up blinking and looked about. “Hey, Bill!” That voice! He looked up as Georgie ran into the room. “Bill it stopped raining can we go play outside!!!” Bill enveloped Georgie in a tight hug. “Um...Bill, are you okay?”

“Yeah...yeah Georgie...” he smiled happily as he looked ou the window. Derry seemed different now. It was happier and everything was as it should be.

Guitar Hero 3 is the best music video game ever

It’s way better than Rock Band and anything else that’s tried to copy it. GH3 is legendary.

The lights are dark in your basement and the big-screen TV is staring at you straight ahead as you’re lounging on the couch. A plastic Les Paul replica guitar is leaning on your lap with your arm stretched out wide enough so your pinky can reach the faux instrument’s very edge. Lou, the popular character who later turns into the devil, shows up on your screen, then a keyboard drops onto the playing field. “My Name is Jonas” by Weezer starts playing on expert. It’s time to adjust your fingers.

Welcome back to the best days of your life.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, released in 2007, was the most perfect band or guitar-related video game ever made, and I’m gonna tell you why right here in this blog while I put that song on blast.

Here are seven reasons this game will go down as the rhythm video game G.O.A.T.

Reason 1: The controller

The beauty of the third installment of the franchise was the simplicity and comfortability of its guitar. For Wii users, that meant a wireless! (a big deal back then) white Les Paul guitar, and for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, a black one.

The guitar was lightweight, and fit perfectly in your lap. The makers knew there was no way any of us were really playing this game standing up and I respect that.

Also, there were only seven buttons to hit, and each made made a nice clicking sound to let you know you were doing it right. The five colored buttons were just the right amount, and their placement on the end gave intense finger workouts for the small-handed players reaching for dear life to nail the “Cult of Personality” solo. GH3 was the same thing as going to the gym, but for hands.

If you’re remembering correctly, the red, green and yellow buttons were our friends, the blue one could hang sometimes and the orange one was death. Aside from those five, there was the easy-to-reach strum bar and the whammy that only elites would use.

What a perfect system.

Reason 2: The characters

GH3 would blow up its characters in the background while the songs played and you jammed along, and they were all bosses. Shouts to Slash, Lou, Midori, Lars, Judy Nails, and the devil who is actually Lou?

Reason 3: The career mode

What I really appreciated about this game is the grind you really had go on to beat it. The first career mode in franchise history had a story to it and animations to go along, which kept your attention. Then, you’d have to fight through all 42 of the basic songs to beat the campaign.

Each song was unlocked depending on how far you made it through the career mode, but they didn’t make it too difficult. Sometimes you could go to the next tier of songs without beating all of the ones in one prior. (I’m looking at you, “Stricken”.)

The further you progressed in the game, the more currency you’d earn to unlock bonus songs and characters, too. Simple systems are sometimes the best.

Reason 4: The guitar battles

The career mode was fun as hell, and that was in part because of the boss battles you had to clear. The first one against Tom Morello was easy, but the one against Slash was not and then the one against the literal devil while playing “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” while in like ... hell? That was tough. That was THE one.

The different power-ups made these battles so tough, too. The broken strings and the lefty flip especially. I both hated and loved this challenge.

Reason 5: The soundtrack freakin’ ruled

GH3 had 73 dope songs, so many of which I’d never even heard of at the time, and that’s why it felt awesome to play. These were songs my family grew up with, and we were all hype playing and watching together.

Reason 6: It didn’t include any other instruments!

Maybe it’s just me, but rhythm games felt really tacky once they tried to incorporate a whole band into it. I get the thought process, but does anyone really want to hear Dan sing? And the drums were always so laggy.

I’m rambling here.

What I mean to say is that Guitar Hero 3 is unequivocally better than anything Rock Band has ever produced.

(Sorry about that.)

Reason 7: GH3 had the best final boss ever

So far away we wait for the day For the lives all so wasted and gone We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days Through the fire and the flames we carry on

Yeah, T”hrough the Fire and the Flames” was the most kickass, guitar-shredding, head-busting banger of a final stage in a video game I can remember. The song ruled. The song never ended. The combination of buttons you were supposed to hit made me nauseous. And every single person who played this game wanted to crush this song.

Yet few did.

We must stan this hero who did, in fact, nail it at 100 percent, though:
