I finally got why I love so much the "dragons are gone" ending in the books while I hate it in the movies:

The books set the dragons free.

The movies simply sent them away.

That's basically the idea but I had a vision yesterday at 3am so I will be getting into detail below the cut.

The books have a very strong message about slavery. Some would say that it is a concept that is only important within the context of the last five or four books, but the ones that have been paying attention to the saga as a whole knows that there are things happening in the background. You know, stuff like

People eating dragons

People stealing dragons from their families so

The dragons can serve the vikings

And they're expected to obey because

People threaten to turn them into bags.

That's mostly the first book.

Dragons are constantly showed as unsatisfied with the status quo trough out the books, some more annoyed with the vikings than others. We have complete monologues from different dragons before the war is even a possibility. Sincerely, when it happens, it feels natural.

The idea of freeing the dragons is not one that comes up in the last book, not even close. The first time it is considered an option is in book 9 (I think), and, by the time being, we've already stablish lots of concepts as slavery within human beings, the dangers of a war, how this could lead to the end of all and freeing the dragons is the only option.

It is fatalist to say the least, but it's not going out of nowhere. There is a lot of worldbuilding (more on that later), but it is also the right thing to do. By the time Hiccup is presenting the option, Cowell has made us root for the dragons to be free and wild and do whatever they want, even if what they want is to hide under sea for thousands of years. Or if they don't want, or if the want to but just not in that moment, they can do it.

Oh, yes, because they leave GRADUALLY.

It is a sad ending, but still manages to get as satisfactory because, yet again, we know this happens and the books remind us this will happen eventually every time they can. “There were dragons when I was a boy” is literally the first phrase in the saga.

And then we got the movies.

The movies never followed the books. Like, not very much. The writers decided that they wanted to tell a story of a broken relationship between a father and a son while using dragons, the heroic and prophetic aspects of the books were getting on the way of that and they scrapped the idea. So, no, you can't tell me the movies actually follow the books.

However, if you're very technical, you know the Hiccup we see in the movies resembles Hiccup I, the one that stopped the war between vikings and dragons in the books, stablishing an equal relation between the two races. And this idea of the movies being a prequel can work for the second and specially the first movie, disregarding the fact that there are no prophetic or magical elements at all.

But THW exist and... Exist.

Suddenly the writers and producers decide that they want to follow the books and want to get rid of the dragons, something that is completely against the message of the other two movies.

(I am just talking about the movies, the shows-books relationship is very different and I will someday make a post ranting about it)

The movies do NOT talk about the dangers of dragons being with vikings or how the vikings mistreat the dragons or how bad is slavery or anything like that. The second movie does, yes, but the second movie also sends a message about how people benefit of being with dragons. They have their dragons and they're strong because of that friendship. Being at war with one another only brings loss and suffering for both bands while being together promises an actual future. A bright future that no one imagined before the first movie and that now they cling to.

Dragons and vikings are friends and together cand do basically anything.

That's a very strong message, you know?

And you know what? The third movie decided that such a strong and important message about friendship should leave the franchise completely.

“Free the dragons” it's a concept that doesn't fit with the movies. They're not slaved, they're not away from wildness and, most importantly, they CHOOSE to be with the vikings in the first place. They are already equals, they can do what they want and, you know, they are with the vikings because they want to.

But no, let's do a movie about letting friends go as if it could actually fit in the saga.

(I know it could actually fit but the execution was terrible).

As I said before, the movies resembles Hiccup I befriending dragons and we know how it ends. And someone who has never read the books will go and say "well, it was bound to end that way, why are you mad?” I tell you the difference right now: there's 1000 years of difference between the befriending and the parting in the book, 1000 years in wich we witness the deterioration of said friendship (from being friends and equals to being slaves). That's no what happens in the movies. The films give us 6 years and the only deterioration is within Toothless' character and how they made him a horny dog.

The dragons shouldn't have leave. This was a whim from the writers that thought that ending both stories the same way would be cool. It isn't. At all.

Long story short, it doesn't fit thematically. The movies and the books have different themes with different concepts and different characterizations of the dragons. While the books got story building and present the theme's since the beginning, the movies get it out of no where ignoring the themes in previous works.

Anyways, go read the books they're jewels and the ending isn't as shitty as thw make it look

The Creature Lives

Eddie’s words got stuck halfway up his throat. Hooked between the comforting sting of blooming thistle and the horrid lump that his third joint was supposed to fix. He ran an unthinking fingertip down his side and couldn’t help recoiling in disgust at how healed it felt. Enough time had dared to pass for a whole slab of his flesh to grow back- hideously, sure. But it was closed.

Eddie didn’t feel healed. He didn’t feel closed. He clearly felt the gaping fucking hole in him- most days he was more hole than person. With more of him missing than remaining he wasn’t convinced that he was even human anymore. He felt like nothing more than a creature.

If someone had asked Eddie if he felt human before everything he’d have given some vaguely satanic sounding answer. Something freaky.

He never could’ve imagined what ‘inhuman’ felt like in his wildest nightmares until he lived through them. Not until he bled out. Not until he died. He could’ve sworn on his mother’s grave that he died. As an unspoken rule none of them questioned the ‘hows’ of it all. Everyone had crawled out of hell by the skin of their teeth- it felt safer not to ask questions.

But Eddie knew he hadn’t gotten out. Most of him was still down there, bleeding out forever.

With a touch to his shoulder, Steve gently nudged Eddie out of his downward spiral. The one he knew so well- the one he walked down every night.

He smiled and plucked the joint from Eddie’s fingers. He didn’t complain that he had to relight it- that Eddie had drifted away long enough for the smoldering tip to die the death they had both been promised and denied.

Eddie rolled onto his side towards Steve. He watched practiced lips hug the tatty paper and held his breath until he saw the cloud of smoke bleed back into the night air.

No living thing had ever smoked as beautifully as Steve Harrington.

Eddie moved himself closer to the safety of Steve’s warmth. His hands crept underneath worn fabric to find the familiar texture of nightmarish, smoothed over bite-marks that blushed with a heat that wasn’t his. He felt a mirroring hand trace his own mangled side and resisted backing away. Eddie could only hope that feeling those shared grooves rise and fall with his breath made Steve feel less empty too.

hi i have a hot take i want to share with the class. im so tired of pretending malleyuu isn't ruining malleus' character.

i do like malleyuu a lot (especially manga yuus!) but the constant otome jokes and people ACTUALLY believing that malleus is in love with yuu are seperating the fandom from reality. every single one of malleus' "romantic" lines can be very easily explained with the fact that he has been ISOLATED and FEARED his whole life that he clings to the very first person that shows him proper respect (not fear) and kindness. the entire narrative of malleus and yuu being friends is used to build up to his character arc. this exact same behaviour of clinging can be seen between malleus and lilia aswell (book7)

i also find it a little ridiculous that the fandom took this ship too far that people ACTUALLY thought book 7 would be a malleyuu thing. diasomnia?? the dorm about FAMILY??? wouldn't be focusing on malleus, lilia, silver and sebeks relationships?? and instead on the random ass isekai student??

you guys seriously shouldn't let some fanservice lines get you to the point where you believe its actually a canon thing. also i won't name any names ofc but the way some of you show malleus being 'possessive' over yuu being friends with ace and deuce is so creepy.

Middle of the night but I gotta talk about some frustrations. 'Cause you know what pisses me off? The mainstreaming popularization of punk. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing it become more popular and I love seeing people discover themselves and the culture. I mean, I got into it from a young age with RATM, for crying out loud.

The problem is that when something becomes more and more popular, you get a lot of... unsavory types. And I'm not even talking about the Tiktok punks that do it for the fashion and the "cool factor" (ignore how punks weren't considered cool and actually disregarded and disrespected as a group of "radicals" and "unsightly" which is what makes punk punk to begin with) and talk about "posers" but then the moment you ask them about their favorite local band or even their opinions about the BLM protests or Drag Queen Story Hour the real them *cough* bigot *cough* comes out. I'm talking about how everywhere you turn, there's an increasing erase of the culture and history, and it's turned into yet another thing for cis white people to use to make up for their lack of culture.

Punk is based in queerness and blackness. Period. That is an undeniable fact. It is a culture started and rooted by black musicians which then bled into the equally black queer community. It is impossible, when you go through the origins, to separate the three. From the fashion to the music, we owe everything to them.

And it's just like what happened with the gay community. A massively marginalized group, technically allowed to live in society but not allowed to be our true selves. And then, like, you have super famous and historic movements lead by black activists through the 60s to 80s. And progress is finally made. Huge celebration. We're finally allowed in public, we start appearing on TV again. But then fast forward to modern day, and white people, like we've always done, we get our grubby little paws on it. And we scrub at it in all the soap we can until any instance of black or brown is gone. And then we claim it as ours. Everybody acknowledges where it started, but nobody celebrates it. In fact, we put down black people in our community. We appropriate their culture and their language, because stealing your voice is actually our way of celebrating you so you should be happy. We make movies of those movements, and we erase any evidence of them ever having been there.

And it's relatively the same thing here. The more mainstream it gets, the more people are doing it to be performative, the more we erase and cover up the "unseemly" history that makes it so beautiful in the first place.

And, like, I'm white and I'm pissed/tired. I can't imagine how black punks feel. Cause, like, think for a minute. Some group decides they want in but they don't like how it is, they want it their way. The "correct" way. So they begin to "kick out" everybody who they don't want, appropriate everything they like about it, and rewrite and recontextualize the history that made it. Isn't that, like, the textbook definition of fascism? The whole thing we're trying to take down? Like come on.

And to the white punk/gays who read this and got confused or upset. No, I'm not saying there aren't any white punks. No, I'm not saying there weren't white gays from the get go. Nobody is saying you can't be white and punk. The point of this post is, just, be a good person. Respect, acknowledge, celebrate the culture that created this thing we love. The gay community that we know is specifically a product of blackness and black efforts. Stop appropriating them, start learning how to celebrate them properly.

The Spider-band (with lots of OCs!)

3 season 2 TV movie show in my head of Hobie, Gwen , Diane , Ansi , Artie (another Hobie) , and Percy in a Spider-band, going on their first world tour.

They're called Wicked Webs

They live on a tour bus, with Hobie's Daredevil, Riri, and Kamala tagging along as well as Angel, who does sound tech, Mariah and Pavi being their charismatic manager and stage manager.

The show is somewhat about their music and shows but it's mainly a It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia style comedy - about the shenanigans the band gets into during off time.

The bus breaking down in the middle of nowhere and they end up at the weirdddestt pub - they're sure they're about to get super murdered but somehow Ansi makes friends with the biker gang????

Hobie loses his guitar and it's the whole gang retracing his steps in the middle of snow-struck Fargo and Hobie can't understand anyone's accents.

A rotten egg gets stuck in the tour bus vent and they spend three hours trying to web it out.

Stuff like that.

Sacha and Tomoka are the wardrobe managers and Diane's variant Annie is the snappy make-up artist.

Asa is their recording manager who lives in New London with his kids, looking after the band when they're back legs of the tour, managing them recording songs in the studio, giving statements, setting up concerts etc.

And the whole thing is shot like a behind-the-scenes documentary.

They're a legit band about to go Platinum, they do talk shows and interviews and photoshoots that somehow always goes wrong because that band is a walking disaster but their music is ICONIC

They get in major trouble because they literally WRECKED the set during a Rolling Stones shoot with their mayhem

Umm. That. In my head. A lot of it. Lol

So, I was just thinking… what if Yasha is Viola’s half sibling?

Hear me out, I think it might be a possibility that Leopold is Yasha’s dad. For one Kadia divorced him like right after they had Viola, and, you know, it might’ve just been because he sucks, and that would make perfect sense too, but what if Leopold was cheating on her with another woman and then Kadia found out and that’s why they got divorced so soon after having Viola. I’ve always just found it a bit odd that they divorced right after having her. And then to state the obvious, Yasha has blonde hair and (I think, correct me if I’m wrong) so does Leopold. That is a very loose tie, not everyone with the same hair color are related, obviously, but it could be something that was done on purpose. Anyway, all that could’ve happened and Yasha’s mom went to/back to the Tundra.

WARNING: this is where it gets a bit crazy and unbelievable, but it could connect some things.

This could explain how Audrian found Yasha, since it could be some sort of revenge thing against Leopold. I’m assuming that CAR knew about the affair but not the baby and Leopold obviously didn’t know she was pregnant. Audrian might have been looking for the woman for something against Leopold but found out she had Yasha. This is where it gets a bit fuzzy lol. Maybe Yasha’s mom didn’t want him or something?? Or she died? Idk. But somehow Audrian ended up with him and is using him now as a weapon against Leopold.

Back to Viola and Yasha being siblings. All I’m gonna say is one of their only conversations, and their first, was about Leopold in TWT. Yasha asked about him having three mythic beast and stuff like that. Nothing they talked about there was pointing to being siblings but the fact that they did talk, and about Leopold, is the important part.

But that’s just a theory, a Wilderlore theory. Thanks for reading.

Hmmmm tbh if I’ve stated it makes me uncomfortable before then I just appreciate avoiding it. I do follow other fnaf AUs and like learning about them but only if I’m the one finding them or asking about them or joining a server to learn more about them. Heck even checking my FYP let’s me genuinely find things I enjoy at my own pace ^^; but If my own blog keeps getting recommendations from other people’s AUs and info dumping without even asking before doing so then it feels like it’s not my own space :Tc it kinda sorta feels like it’s being used for self promoting their own stuff and I won’t even enjoy it because of that, it’s hard to explain it in English but honestly even if that’s not the intention it makes me uncomfortable nonetheless unfortunately.

i love that he's so candid about talking about his murders and says shit like "homicide is my hobby" but when it comes to shooting people he either says some bullshit like "blowing their brains out" or calling them "fireworks" or it's about date "watching them die." the only time he calls it "shooting" is when someone else is doing it. and normally that sort of thing reads as 'distancing yourself from the crimes' but wouldn't that be fucking wild lmao. i think it reads more like it's above just shooting? it's art! perfect, beautiful art of a lonely moment in time.

and all the "(you were) a murderer. a serial killer" "have you been using other men's names for so long that you've forgotten your own" talk feels like it should be leading into a "we're not so different you and i" but it never does. (i'd be tempted to say it's just self restraint on the part of the writing team but i find that VERY hard to believe given the. everything. about every uchi game.) like he hates date but he views himself as above him and he can't pull himself down to date's level, even to upset him. he's just taking hypocritical shots at date because he knows he cares about "justice" and "morality" and garbage like that, without acknowledging their similarities

What happened in karmaland today :0

Basically, today was supposed to be the trial to see who had Titi's custody, and it all went fucking wrong lmao (long post bc i have no idea how to explain like a normal person)

Rubius wanted for the entirety of karmaland to have titi's custody, he thought his father (staxx) was not a good father for titi bc he was always away and titi spent waaay more time with other karmaland memebers (titi called rubius dad before his actual dad)

So he set up a trial against staxx, quackity and juan (other member) were rubius' lawyers, while staxx legit had no one representing him, and he wasn't even there for the start of the trial, but for what I understood, lolito was representing him?? (idk that's what it looked like when i tuned in) and vegetta was the judge

The trial was just all of them showing pictures saying how staxx was an awful father and how he would be better off with literally any other member, then staxx showed up, he defended himself, they joked around a bit and vegetta said he had heard enough and was going to think on the verdict with tit

Then there was an earthquake and everyone went outside and there was A FUCKING THREE HEADED ALIEN CALLED THE WITHER SHOWER????

Staxx said that was titi's mom and that she was coming to get him?? So everyone started to fight against it but barely anyone could do any damage

Marlon (an npc) told them that there was a bunker with anti-apocalypse weapons under the police station, everyone went there and they saw titi holding a grenade and the room was filled with weapons (quackity took almost all of them lmao) andt they went back to fight the alien

Out of no where, tit was being lifted by the alien and everyone was saying he was sacrificing himself, titi was crying a bit, and suddenly there was a flash on the screen and titi spoke one last time. Then everyone went to see the corpse of titi's mother and titi was nowhere to be seen, everyone was saying titi was dead and the items he carried around the most (tnt, lemons, fireworks, sticks) started falling from the sky, and everyone just ended stream, like it was a fucking dsmp lore stream

tl;dr: titi fucking died and i miss him very much and quackity is bullying us in twitter
