[At a coffee place]
Y/N: *returns from the bathroom to the line*
Y/N: *walks up to Gojo and grabs his hand*
Y/N: This is crazy.
Gojo: *looks at Y/N*
Gojo: Um...
Y/N: *looks at Gojo*
Y/N: You're not my boyfriend.
Geto, from behind Y/N and Gojo: You're holding the wrong hand, Y/N.
Y/N: You sure?
Gojo: Yeah, we're sure.
Y/N: I feel compelled to finish this coffee experience with you.
Gojo: I'm not paying.
Y/N: Never mind, I'm going back to my boyfriend.
Geto: I'm not paying either.
Shoko, at the front of the line: Come hold my hand. I'll buy you anything you want.
Y/N: *goes to hold Shoko’s hand*
Y/N: At least somebody cares about me.

i really love how twitter will take a singular issue and turn it into Abstract Concept to Discuss. this tweet about alien stage blew up and the original thing they were mad about was a very blatant example of fandom prioritizing men over women. but it’s led to people arguing about whether it’s okay to write more yaoi than yuri without having the context of Alien Stage Specifically. and it’s shifted the discussion (if you can call it that) in such a new direction i just find it odd

btw "Jews are stealing blond children for their nefarious purposes" is one of the oldest antisemitic lies in the book. It has been around since the middle ages and often been used to justify the murder and persecution of jews.
So if you see someone making this exact same accusation today, with no source in sight, and certainly not the sort of iron-clad proof a claim like that would need to be credible, maybe consider that it may just be a lie that seems plausible because it exploits deeply ingrained prejudices.
And then don't spread the lie further.

Slowly succumbing to the realization that I might need a Twitter account at least to follow those 2 artist that don't have any other social and to use the "advanced search" correctly to find that one piece of art posted in 2014 by a Japanese illustrator bc I'm tired of being redirected to the "please sign up or log in" page. Prob I won't post art there since the AI thing going on and I will act like the wallflower I am, lurking around like an idiot but hmm

And another thing: with Lan and Moiraine's relationship, Jordan crafted an extremely intricate and raw relationship that one could discard because it's platonic, but the moment you see their bond as a marriage, it's just such gut punch after gut punch.
Many quotes after TFoH have a double edge in the way they relate both to Nyn and Mo, his future and past. The crux of the issue is that Moiraine is part of Lan and Lan of Moiraine and the severing could not solely occur because of Mo: it's a marriage; it's complicated.
To me, the story of their relationship disintegration and the aftereffects is one of the most captivating in the books so far. It's honestly a marvel, albeit painful and subdued, but the bond in general captivates me.
Bonding is essentially saying "I am now entrusting you with what could really hurt me, with what could mortally trap me. I trust you not to" which is what committing to someone beloved feels like. It is a marriage, but with a very real "till death do us part" clause.
There is no denying the nature of the bond creates a power imbalance, but also requires a show of trust on both sides, between a group that is notoriously guarded and particularly dangerous warriors. It makes the commitment all the more poignant.
Like handing someone a knife and baring one's chest to them as a way to show dedication.
For that reason, that imbalance comes closer to the relationship between a knight and his lady than a reversed patriarchal twist on marriage.
All the marriage won't be happy or without abuse or deception, but it is a testament to what the parties involved are willing to give, which is fascinating.
And RJ sees it as such, particularly with complicated cases like Elyas, who pretty much separated from his Aes Sedai, Lan, whose Aes Sedai transfered the bond without consent, or Kennit, who is actively hunting his Aes Sedai to kill her because she is BA.
As Stepin observed "No bond is closer than an Aes Sedai and, uh, her Warder. Not husbands and wives, not parents and children."
Very telling that characters like Lan or Rand would be so eager to bond with the ones they love, even after all that happened with their bond-holders.
It is the gravest danger a man can place himself in; the reward must be immeasurable.

"Can someone please explain this to me, I don't know anything about this" well no, if you are unable to do research on historical and political topic then learn how to do that. inform yourself via different sources and consider to develop your own critical thinking. there is literally nothing in this world that is as important as knowing how to fact check and find out if sources reliable or not, develop your critical thinking skills and don't wait for a random person on twitter to make a thread about it or wait for a celebrity to share a photo on their story to find out how you should position yourself on a topic. yes they can be part of it, but should not be your only source. If you really care about it, it's worth spending time to educate yourself or do you just want some quick info so you can post your insta story and call it a day?

Not to be a bird of bad omens but: If you're thinking of making a Threads account (Zuckerberg's response to Twitter) know that once it's done you CAN'T delete it unless you also delete your insta account. You can delete posts or cancel your account but not detele it.
