Amphibia x The Owl House

Plot

When Anne, Sasha and Marcy where six they were running around the park closest to their day care. They were playing tag, Marcy was it and the other children ran in a attempt to win the game. Sasha and Anne running ahead while Marcy ran behind them. Then she saw a puddle. And like any child she jumped in it. She was never seen again.

When Anne and Sasha where ten they were swinging on the swings at the park closest to their school. Oum Boonchuy came over to walk the girls home. Anne and her mom walked hand and hand while Sasha trailed behind them. As Anne and Oum exited the park Oum panicked as she realised Sasha was no longer with them.

When Anne was sixteen she was sent to Saint James Summer Camp. While waiting for the bus two crumpled flyers clinched in her hands. One face on the flyer was heavily distorted, the only thing that could be made out was a green hair clip. The second face on the other flyer was less horrid looking. A blonde girl, the most distinct feature about her was her eyes. The right one, a piercing light blue. The left one, a luxurious brown.

In hopes of her friends finally disappear from her nightmares she sat them down in the trash before returning to the sidewalk. A second passes. Then two. Then Anne abruptly whips around bolting to trash, sifting around the garbage in a desperate attempt to recover her lost friends.

Anne heard a 'Gwak-Gwak', looking up she saw the two flyers in a purple snails mouth. Quickly she spirited at the snail as speed off at a ungodly speed for a snail (or a human for that matter). The snail lead Anne to the very park she lost her friends at. Without thinking Anne continued to follow the snail. Then the snail ran into an open door that was planted into the middle of the park in front of a bench.

The door seemingly lead in nowhere. The moment Anne ran into the door she was suddenly in a market. Surround by non-humans.

Main Characters

Anne Boonchuy (replaces Luz): Runs through a door that teleports her into a different realm filled with witches and demons. Instead of glyphs Anne uses her calamity powers which are far more powerful. Her palismen is Domino Two. She studies the healing magic and plant magic. She's a human. Calamity powers first active in 'The Intruder', while hiding from Hop pops cursed form with Polly and Sprig sat by her side. Instead of using a giant light glyph to blind Hop pop, Sprig Polly and Anne covered a dead end hallway with mirrors. While Anne stood in the middle of the mirror Sprig and Polly lead Hop pop to her. Once he got close enough Anne activated her powers and BLINDED everyone.

Sprig Plantar (replaces King): Finds Anne in the market after some yells from shop owners and stands up for her. Somehow convinces Hop pop to take care of an other child. He's childish, impatient and easily distracted. His weapon of choice is his sling shot and plant seeds instead of stones. His palismen is Charlie Big Bottom (I am so sorry). He studies plant magic and bard magic. He's a witch.

Polly Plantar (replaces King): First met Anne and instantly hit her with her rolling pin. She's violent, unpredictable and hella smart. Her weapon of choice is her rolling pin Dorris. Her palismen is Mico Angelo. She studies plant magic and abomination magic. She's a witch.

Hop Pop Plantar (replaces Eda): First met Anne when he went to check out the ruckus Sprig ran off to. A theatre kid in the body of an old man. He has a heron curse which resulted in the death of his daughter and son-in-law. He's old fashion, hates change and reasonable (most times). His palismen is Bessie. He studies plant magic. He's a cursed witch.

Moss Man (replaces Hooty): Their not attached to the house but instead it's made from land the Plantars farm is built on. Calm and collected this creature is. They like making flowers for their loves one. They've been alive since the first Plantar and have protected the family ever since.

Marcy LongClaw (replaces Amity): First met Anne once Sprig excitedly introduced her to everyone he ever knew in 'I was a teenage abomination'. First person to immediately notice Anne was human. She's childish, witty and unbelievably smart. Her palismen is a sparrow named Joe Sparrow, which her Mama (Yunan) passed down to her. She studies potion magic, abomination magic and beast keeping magic. She's a human who's disguised as witch (unknowingly), her ears were cut when she was six.

Sleight Leviathan (A.K.A Sasha, replaces Hunter): First met Anne while threatening Polly's life in 'Separate tides'. She's a bitch, cold hearted, demanding and very stubborn. Her weapon of choice (in the Kings Coven) is two weapons staffs, one pink and one light blue (like her duel swords). Her palismen is a white heron (the one she fought at toad tower) named Brave (who's possessed by Barrel). She studies bard magic and construction magic. She's a grimwalker.

Ivy Sundew (replaces Gus): First meet Anne in 'I was a teenage abomination' while Sprig was excitedly showing her off. She's wild, energetic and very loud. Her weapon of choice is her staff shes uses like a long stick. Her palisman is a purple fire fly named Bright. She studies illusions magic and potion magic. She's a witch.

Maddie Flour (replaces Willow): First meet Anne in 'I was a teenage abomination' trying to pry an exited Ivy off a human. She's terrifying, cold, little cooky and smart, very smart. Her weapon of choice is the dark arts. Her palisman is a vodo doll named Foreshadow. She studies oracle magic and potion magic. She's a witch.

Leif Plantar (replaces Evelyn): Lead a human into the demon realm as a dare from her friend Barrel. She ended up befriending the human and soon developed a romantic attraction to him. Once Andrias went hungry for power and went looking for the gems that the Cosmic Guardian told him about Leif was the first to find them. She made a portal door to confined the gems powers and buried it. She's was a witch.

Barrel the Brave (replaces Caleb, sorta): Dared his sweet friend to lead a human to the demon realm. Like his friend her befriended the human and fell for him. When Andrias had a thirst for power he ordered Barrel to kill Leif. Barrel refused and suffered with his life. His soul eventually possessed a heron palisman. Now he tries to lead a grimaalker to safety. He's was a witch.

Andrias Leviathan (replaces Phillip, a.k.a Emperor Belos): When he followed to a witch to an otherwise realm he was excited. He soon eventually fell for his two friends. But when his father ordered him to take power he has no choice but not to. In a attempt to gain power he killed his two friends. He's a cursed human.

Aldrich Leviathan (replaces Caleb, sorta): Chasing after his son who ran after some lady, he found himself in a world of wonder. In attempt to rule the Ilse's he uncovered the Cosmic Guardian and ordered Andrias to find the gems. No matter what. He was old and his son failed. But he refused to die. So he attached himself to Andrias. He thought of it as a gift, his son though of it as a curse. He was a human.

Side Characters

Oum Boonchuy (replaces Camilla): Adopts four traumatized kids and becomes a badass mother.

Bee Boonchuy (replaces Manny, but not dead): Involuntary adopts four traumatized kids. Always getting scared by Ivy's illusions.

Yunan LongClaw (replaces Lilith and Alador): She's a mother of three and a handful of a wife. She's head witch of the Kings coven and also gets possessed by Andrias (like Raine). She was the first person to find Marcy, who was laying by a lake and took her home where she was somehow able to convince her love to adopt a human. She cut Marcy's ears so she could blend in more and she still works with the King to keep Marcy safe. Yunan passed down Joe Sparrow to Marcy so she has a way of performing magic.

Olivia LongClaw (replaces Odalia, but nicer): She is the only living person who Yunan and the King is scared of. She's the head of oracle coven and makes the other had cower in fear. Olivia gave up her palisman in order to step alongside the King.

Marky LongClaw (replaces the Blight twins): Calm, cool and just a general vibe. They don't speak but have a magical connection with its twin which is its only way of communication. Their palisman is a Capybara named Luam.

Darcy LongClaw (replaces the Blight twins): A asshole. They speak for Marky and stand up for Marcy when someone but them bully's her. Their palisman is a black spider with eleven orange eyes named Toxins.

Grime (replaces Darius): A stubborn man who's head witch of the construction coven. He was once a scout for the king then was eventually promoted to head witch. Begrudgingly he watches the aggressive blonde and once again develops a emotion attachment with her. His palisman is a horned snake that's curled around the handle and instead of a staff it's a hammer.

Mrs. Croaker (replaces Eberwolf): The most chaotic and the baddest bitch you will ever know. She's got a lot of spunk for an hundred and two year old woman. She's head witch of the beast keeping coven. Her palisman is a Archery the spider.

Sylvia Sundew (replaces Raine): Gentle but scary. She has a strong opinion on the King, even if it isn't a good one. She's head witch of the potion coven. Her palisman is a Bear named Chai.

Toadstool (replaces Principal Bump): Not an old man but not a respected man. He's principal of Famers-Side. Even though he's selfish when the Cosmic Guardian's goons try to hurt his students he's fights to protect them.

Molly-Jo Waybright (replaces Masha): Sasha's younger sister. Lived with her Grandfather, who runs a newspaper business, for two years after her sisters disappearance. She now volunteers at the local library and is very infested in the local witch lore in town.

opinions on sprig and ivy + sprig and maddie thoughts

while sprivy is cute and i love a classic childhood sweethearts, i wish they’d stayed friends and proved m/w friendships can stay platonic like the message “dating season” obviously tried to push. personally, sprig falling for ivy destroyed the whole point of the episode. and ivy returning the feelings came out of nowhere, i wish she’d at least show some signs beforehand.

they feel like that one school couple who are only a couple because their friends/family (cough cough anne, hop pop, felicia cough cough) shipped them hard and they forced in feelings out of obligation to their friends’ and family’s fantasies.

it would have been fun if sprig and maddie’s relationship got a better look on, sprig coming to appreciate maddie’s unsettling aura, maybe learning more about magic to see why maddie liked it so much and coming to enjoy magic as well. maybe maddie’s dad nudges them into a small date and they talk and sprig gets to know the frog he thought was just some creepy witch girl. wingwoman ivy who will scheme to trap them and get them stuck together and somehow get her schemes foiled every time and the other two don’t even notice.

maddie seeing sprig and polly being siblings who bicker but get along at the end of the day, reminding her of her own little sisters who she realized she misses. sprig helping maddie get a better relationship with her siblings after a while of ignoring them for her hobbies, disastrous because they’re very different even as both are older siblings.

magic shenanigans where sprig messes some potion up and gets an explosion to the face. maddie laughing hysterically as she stirs her successful concoction. purposefully messing with each other’s work. it would have been such a fun pairing if given more screen time, appreciation and thought.

Ivy wondered why she had never really taken the time to get to know Maddie before.

Well, no, that wasn’t entirely true – they had known each other as polliwogs, but something about the two of them just didn’t click back then. Besides, Ivy had Sprig to hang out with – she didn’t really see the need for another friend.

Ivy and Sprig were loud and rambunctious, while Maddie was quieter, more reserved. And when she discovered magic and curses, Maddie began to seek more and more time for herself, determined to learn everything there was to know about the dark arts.

And yet, here Ivy was, swinging her legs back and forth as she hid away in the Resistance base, watching as Maddie brewed a batch of potions.

“Hey, Ivy, could you hand me two turtleduck feathers?” Maddie asked, not looking up from her potion.

“Uh...” Ivy blinked out of her stupor, turning to the row of glass containers Maddie had. Thankfully, Maddie had them all meticulously labelled, sorted perfectly for the young curse-wielder’s use – unfortunately for Ivy, however, there were a lot of containers, and she had no clue where the turtleduck feathers would be.

“They’re over there,” Maddie offered, pointing towards a high shelf off to the side. Ivy blinked gratefully, even as Maddie still didn’t look up at her – Ivy walked over to the shelf hopped on her toes, grabbing the container of turtleduck feathers.

As Ivy fell, her foot landed awkwardly on the uneven, rocky floor, sending her crashing to the ground – Ivy yelped, but kept her arms held high in the air so as not to break the container of turtleduck feathers. Containers on nearby shelves wobbled, and Maddie finally looked up, her uncovered eye wide in surprise – as a glass container began to inch towards the edge of a shelf, Maddie rushed forward, pushing it to safety.

“Sorry,” Ivy huffed, pushing herself to her feet, wincing as pain shot through her leg. “Uh, here are your turtleduck feathers.”

“It’s not on you,” Maddie sighed, looking at the walls around her. “I’m just not used to working in caves, y’know?”

“Yeah, I – ow.” Ivy hissed as another wave of pain pulsed through her leg and foot.

Maddie blinked at Ivy. Her eyes travelled downwards to where Ivy was awkwardly standing, trying to keep pressure off her injured foot.

“Sit down,” Maddie directed, gently pushing Ivy to the ground. She gave her brew a quick stir, checking on it before turning back to Ivy.

“I’m fine,” Ivy protested, but Maddie wasn’t listening. Instead, the curse-wielder dug through her supplies before pulling out a small sack and stepping towards Ivy.

“I’m okay,” Ivy tried again, shaking her head. “Wouldn’t it be better to save that for someone who’s actually hurt?”

“Not really.” Maddie tossed the sack at Ivy’s foot, relief instantly spreading through it. “That’s just a low-level spell, meant for small injuries. I already gave the good stuff to the medics. Besides,” Ivy thought she saw a light blush on Maddie’s cheeks as she turned around, “Don’t want you tripping and accidentally ruining a potion, do we?”

Ivy shook her head and smiled.

Maddie was her brand of weird.

"It's the shippers and the fact that we as humans tend to bond more with human characters. Not that ppl can't bond with the amphibians of the show, it's just easier with the Trio. I do need to do some more comics and stuff with the frog side of the show but most of my ideas atm r Trio related (I'm still debating how to do Lily's big Amphibia adventure)."

Not trying to put more work or pressure on ya, but I would love to see more art of Sprig X Ivy X Maddie. There's just not enough of it around, as far as I can find.

What is a QPR?

QPR stands for Queerplatonic Relationship!

Queerplatonic relationships are most commonly used for Aspec people! (People who are on the Aro and/or Ace spectrum!)

A QPR is a close non-sexual, non-romantic relationship that is beyond what most would consider to be a friendship. It consists of emotional commitment and prioritization that is typically seen in a romantic relationship. More simpler, it’s being more than friends, but, less than lovers. It may be more easier to explain that way.

When Anne opens the box, the Calamity Trio don’t end up in Amphibia. Instead, a little of Amphibia comes to them. Sprig, Ivy, and Maddie instead get transported to Earth.

Anne finds Sprig and takes him in. Best friend shenanigans ensue. With him, she learns to better appreciate her family. He misses his sister and grandpa so much and would never ditch a birthday with them just to be gay and do crimes. She realizes that more matters in the world than a singular friendship. She realizes how friendship is supposed to feel. She realizes that she needs to stand up to Sasha and confront Marcy, who seems to be keeping quite a few secrets…

Meanwhile, Ivy gets got by the FBI. She spends a while being extremely unhelpful to Mr. X, but ends up joining his side when strange rifts begin to open in thrift stores and parking lots and heavily fortified prison-like structures (high school). Creatures Ivy recognizes begin to emerge. Amphibia is coming to Earth. She helps government officials punch a mantis in the face.

Maddie ends up hiding out in the library and reading books about human witchcraft (C++). She makes friends with Marcy, who interrogates her thoroughly about Amphibian agriculture and such.

Sasha doesn’t know anything about the frogs, but she knows that Her Girls are hiding something from her. She senses that they’re growing apart. Their interests are changing, they have less and less in common, and Anne and Marcy seem too preoccupied to notice. Rifts start to form in their friendship. Anne probably puts a wig on Sprig and brings him to school which doesn’t help. Anne and Sasha have their big gay falling-out á la Reunion but with less sword fighting presumably.

The Core learns about the rifts opening, begins calculating where the next ones will open, and begins sending drones through. Eventually it figures out that the Calamity Box has been opened, and that it has opened a connection between their two worlds.

Sprig, Ivy, and Maddie reunite (less disastrously than the Calamity Trio did) and do polyamory (less disastrously than the Calamity Trio did) but it seems like the story isn’t about them. They’re not prophesied heroes and they didn’t want to be. And everything that Amphibia brings through is awfully symbolic of those three gay dramatic teenagers.

However, everything that Amphibia’s brought through hasn’t exactly been ~bad~ for three gay dramatic teenagers. Sasha knows the truth now, and she’s forgiven them! She’s back! Now that they have this secret in common, they’re closer than ever. Their friend group has expanded, with Sasha having more control than ever and Marcy making sure that nothing interrupts their lovely group, their monsters of the week. Even when their monsters of the week keep coming back and posing a bigger threat and even killing some military officials.

The rifts get big enough that the Core is able to send an attack through to try and reclaim the Box, strip the planet of its resources, and do some casual genocide on the way out.

They need to close the rifts! But Marcy doesn’t want to. Amphibia is the only thing keeping them together now. She doesn’t want to lose Sprig or Ivy or Maddie she CAN’T lose Anne or Sasha. But they end up punching herons in the face anyway.

Anne, Sasha, and Marcy end up having to accept that sometimes people grow apart. Sometimes things change. Maybe their relationship isn’t forever. But that’s okay. They’ve found new things. New people. Their lives are fulfilled in different ways and it’s going to be okay. The impact they’ve had on each other will never be gone, but they have to go save the Frog World and resolve the destructive portals and also Punch the Moon.

Amphibia and Earth end up separated, with only a few key gateways between them. Marcy ends up moving away. Amphibia’s moon is also dead now they punched it too good. The change includes space for the Calamity Trio to stay in contact with their frog friends because it’s a key point of the story and the Amphibia finale broke me I can’t do that again.

(The “AMPHIBIA” opening card shows, including the typical music, but then flickers and glitches with static that’s primarily orange and changes to show “AGAINST THE WORLDs” in the same font and color, but with the “s” at the end flickering in after a moment and in yellow instead of green like the rest of the title. IVY (holding a rolled-up piece of paper, presumably the map, above her head) Well, this time we have a map!

MADDIE Fair enough.

(The CALAMITY TRIO on Earth sit next to each other on a bench in front of DR. JAN’s museum, a big banner reading “CRYPTID WEEK” behind them.)

ANNE (hugging her friend with a smile) It’s great to have you back, Marce.

(The screen briefly shows what appears to be a working table with pieces of metal, computer chips, other computer parts, and blueprints with designs for various weapons strewn across its surface. A figure wearing a welding mask welds two pieces of metal together to form a long, silver, spear-like rod that looks suspiciously like DARCY’s scythe without the blade ignited. Back to the TRIO in front of the museum.)

MARCY Yeah. It’s… nice to be back.

(ANNE and SASHA sit in a mall, the former trying to comfort the blonde.)

SASHA (head in her hands) I just wish that all of this shit wasn’t so fucking complicated!

(POLLY and FROBO rocket through the sky towards something.)

POLLY SPRIG!!

(IVY and MADDIE, with a dark background, meet each other’s eyes. The screen goes black when IVY speaks.)

(A flash of a portal, glowing with pink, yellow, and blue energy. Back to black.)

(An orange eye opens, and a single chuckle from DARCY rings out before it fades to black one last time.)
