Things I did today:

Lesson prepped for tutoring

Studied for bio and did a practice quiz

Practice partial fractions (got very confused in the process)

Finished calculations for a chem lab

Finished my Anki cards for the day

Still have to submit some things and do some more practice for calculus and chemistry, but it’s going ok so far!

#everyone worried about carlos……. enough to go looking for him #im was trying to find connections between dr. kayali in 55 and janet #kayali knew carlos as a professor who disappeared on sabbitical #lubelle knew carlos as a fellow grad student #dr blake knows carlos as someone who made an impact long enough at the university that his portrsit was both hung and taken down #he also took over carlos’ role as lubelles right hand man (implied by cecil stating it ) #which means either carlos was not telling the full truth and extent of his relationship to lubelle (highly likely) #or its a time and memory weirdness #but i keep thinking about the line we were young and trying to prove ourselves…….. #it sounds so unnecessarily foreboding to me like whatd they get up to what did they do #that made carlos question her ethics #i bet they were rewarded for it #i bet it ate him up inside sitting atop of an achievement that was ethically shakey for years #until he has a break down and dips #also so egotisical that she sets up a campus in town lol and makes herself the dean #on top of sacred ground #kayali said he was gone for decades…… so funny how decades keep haunting carlos what does it mean what DOES IT MEAN #wtnv #welcome to night vale

do you have any study tips?

hiii, im still struggling to learn to become a person who studies bc i was a lazy coaster for so long lol but some things that have helped me are: having a planner where i make a list of all the work i need to get done every day (having everything laid out + getting the satisfaction of ticking a box makes it easier and more rewarding imo), using the pomodoro technique or apps like forest to give myself set time periods in which to work where i try not to let myself do anything else, trying to work away from my house/room whenever possible (in the library is best for me but even just going downstairs to work instead of in my bedroom helps). if u manage to get organised for even just a week, for me the satisfaction that i felt from getting stuff done more than i ever have before makes you want to do it more... if it feels like a slog try and think about how good it feels when it is done rather than the bad feeling of doing it and know that you will reach it if you just keep going!

#hope any of this cld help.. i am still quite a bad and lazy worker compared to a lot of other students i know but im working hard to change #my ways! it takes a lot of brute force but it is rewarding and worth it #also just convince yourself you love the subject youre doing even if you hate it..... finding even a small amount of joy and interest will #make it easier and better and maybe even fun

When I was falling behind in school, the only thing that helped me was writing out each task I needed to complete on a sticky note and taking it down when I finished the assignment. Writing it out in a notebook or a planner didn't help; I needed that visual reward of removing that note and seeing the list decrease as I finished each assignment.

I also assigned a color to each class to keep track of them (I was very behind in my English class at the time of this photo).

Another thing that may have helped is assigning a color to a class, assigning a color to urgency instead - for example, red is late, yellow is tomorrow, blue is a week, and green is two weeks or more.

and history tracks, because look at those books he was buying - the average age of those things was somewhere in the 100-200s!

Now, obviously, he only ever completed year one, and the course was clearly different in the theoretical time that he took it. but?? it's 100% up his alley :)

In five days I’ll be on winter break for 12 days (it’ll feel more like 18 because my first week back at work is all remote!!!!!!) - after a batshit end to fall semester, I am looking forward to catching up on reading, as well as having some dedicated writing time…

Anyways I know I have some A BUNCH of fics from @loki-cees-all to share (Olivette has been living rent free in my mind this whole time!!!) and a bunch of Thrown to react to, so Cee and @maple-seed I hope y’all are ready 😂😂

I’ve also got at least a few @sarahscribbles and at least a couple @infinitystoner and @tripleyeeet fics to read/share, and then @mischief2sarawr just posted their monthly round-up… not to mention I’ve been dying to dive into @the-lady-amphitrite’s long fic…

I am SO EXCITED for this break, y’all!

#I literally haven’t taken more than a random day off since *last* winter break - not even during spring break or over the summer #i need this break so bad lol #I feel spoiled when I say that I haven’t taken vacation in five ever because I know that not everyone has that privilege #my job is really rewarding but also a special kind of exhausting - the mental load is so different than when I worked in retail or service #and I regularly work 50+ hours/week and work weekends because that’s how student affairs operates #anyways

I always end up exhausted after classes but also incredibly happy too. My students this cycle are so incredibly promising and nice and they all show so much interest in art. I'd gladly drop dead after class just if it means they get something out of it.
