"Do you trust me?" Vex asks with a slight laugh as Percy stares at the ocean with wide eyes.

He shakes his head, "I honestly have no idea."

She laughs again and kisses his cheek, "That's probably for the best." Vex grabs his hand and drags him further down the beach, her surfboard tucked under the other arm. "But you don't even have to get in the water today if you don't want to."

Percy takes a deep breath of the salty air and just walks towards the ocean, letting go of her hand. As the water washes over his feet, cold but familiar, he can almost hear his sister laughing, splashing him in the water.

"Percy?" He feels a soft hand on his back and sees Vex standing beside him with a slight frown. "What's wrong?"

Percy just shakes his head, "My sister tried to teach me once. She said I had the balance of a drunkard."

Vex chuckles, "Let's hope she was wrong then." They fall into silence for a moment before she turns to him and says, "Percy, we don't have to do this-"

"I want to. My dad...he would have loved to meet you and I just want to honor them. I want to learn." Percy turns to look at her with a smile, much less nervous than a few moments ago.

"Well come on then, let's get started." She kisses his cheek again and pulls him back to where she left her surfboard.

Vex first meets Percy online. She sees his surfboards at a competition and looks into them, when she immediately falls in love with them, she buys one. And every time she posts a picture with her board, she takes his business account.

Since she's a pretty well known professional surfer, he notices almost immediately. After a few months he reaches out to her, thanking her for promoting his business

That's all there is for a while, until Vex starts hanging out with Keyleth and Pike and they both talk about their friend Percy who makes surf boards.

When they meet for the first time, there's immediate sparks.

There's one night when they both go out to the beach, Vex had been surfing at sunset and then they sit beside each other on a towel. Percy tells her that his father and sister were surfers and that he makes boards in their honor.

In turn, Vex tells him about how much her father hates the sport and tried over and over to get her to stop.

From their mutual vulnerability and understanding of each other, affection grows.

When Vex gets hurt while practicing by herself, it's Percy who shows up, living the closest. He refused to leave her side until Vax showed up at the hospital.

When Percy sits on the beach at midnight, wallowing in thoughts of his family, it's Vex that finds him and drives him home to make him a cup of tea.

And when Cassandra comes to live with Percy, it's Vex she calls when Percy has a breakdown.
