So, about a week ago (insert slightly sheepish laughter here) I asked @kimium what video games she thought the Vice Housewardens of NRC would enjoy; not including the already canonverse videogames (see her answer here). She prompted me, in her post, to give my own answers as well...and I have taken my time it seems ahahaha, but I did not forget! So, here they are:

Trey - Trey is gonna play something like Dentist Simulator. He loves it. Even if it's gross at times. He finds it fascinating and satisfying. Trey loves teeth and the cleaning of teeth; this is mentioned not only in a vignette, but also in the Halloween event currently going on when it is revealed that Sebek's father is, in fact, a dentist. (Trey gets very excited and that is so adorable) I can just imagine him loving every minute of a Dentist themed game, and I've seen enough simulators to feel confident in my selection for him even if I haven't played this specific one.

Ruggie - Ruggie is gonna like some online Monopoly. I think he would have fun with the game, he can play with the kids back home, and he absolutely can and will crush anyone who challenges him. I think it gives him a little bit of an escape from reality, too. It's nice to be able to pretend a little that he has money and the power to buy entire properties. Ruggie respects the hustle. He's made for Monopoly.

Jade - I think Jade would really enjoy Danganronpa. He's definitely on Junko's side. Loves the despair and seeing people pushed to the brink, and he probably enjoys the executions more than he should, but it's all in fun. I think he would enjoy the mystery, solving things and putting clues together, and the puzzles! (except Hangman's gambit. Fuck Hangman's gambit). While I think he would enjoy the entire series, I do think he'd have a special place in his heart for Trigger Happy Havoc. I can almost see the look on his face when the first execution comes up. He'd be surprised, and I think Jade likes surprises. He finds them fun.

Jamil - I don't know why, I just really think Jamil would like the old Space-themed pinball that came already installed on Microsoft Windows computers when I was a child. I think it would be something he doesn't have to stress over, he doesn't have to try overly hard if he doesn't want to, he can just play for a little fun and down-time. (goodness knows, the boy needs some down-time).

Rook - So, Rook is gonna love him some DMMD. The characters are all beautiful, the art is cool, the colour scheme is good, the story is interesting...the only sin is Aoba's jacket. "Meags," you say. "You're forgetting something," you say. Listen. LISTEN. If anyone thinks for one second Rook isn't playing the spicy yaoi games they are Wrong. Of course he is. But don't ask him his favourite route; that's just opening yourself up to a five-hour verbal essay that boils down to "he can't choose because every character is so beautiful in their own way and all deserve to be happy and in love".

Ortho - Ortho really likes adventure and heroes, much like his brother. I think he'd have fun with Skyrim! The quests are fun, and there's a lot of character customization you can do. I think it's a fun game, and I think Ortho would like to be a hero too. He probably finishes the main quest, because I think Ortho would do that (I never did, but I did become the head of the mage's college and a vampire, so who's really winning? lol).

Lilia - Call of Duty. Which one? All. He has the time, he can play them all. I think he would enjoy the aspect of playing on a team and defeating enemies that way, much like he does already with Idia. Now, I personally suck at COD, but my brother does not and I used to watch him play quite a bit. It can be a lot of fun when you know what you're doing and can actually do more strategy than just "point and shoot and hope to heck you didn't miss the dude three feet in front of you".

Zorro (MotM)

Zorro does not have any links because I've neglected them oops LORE: Zorro used his dark magic too much and got completely turned into a demon. Lucifer (Queen of Hell blah blah blah) fell in love with them, she turned out to be (surprise) a terrible person and they overthrew her. Now they rule the underworld and occasionally assist Jason in his objectives as they are (technically) best friends.

Elflacon (DnD)

Elfalcon is my (dead :/ ) DnD Character. Since I've played him last though he's gotten a complete glow-up and re-write so here is the new-and-improved Elfalcon. LORE: Elfalcon is a Drow Elf who would be a royal prince if he hadn't been outcast by his family for being cursed. His Drow bloodline takes their lineage very seriously, so when he was cursed to become a Tiefling at night (in hopes that his family would be more accepting of Tieflings) they were outraged and banished him. He has since become a rogue with the intent to slowly whittle away at his families wealth and most valued treasures over time until they seek his assistance with catching this thief and accept him back into the family. At this point though he mostly just steals because fuck his family lol

Arrow is my Minecraft Character I'm not actually sure if this counts as an OC, but... I'm submitting him anyway so take that LORE: Arrow is a blind archer (yes, blind.) He prefers Archery over anything else Minecraft related and prefers to hang out with his friends while doing so. Sun (Green hoodie) is his best friend, Breeze (blue hair and horns) is the Mom Friend and Panda (Pink hair) is the Little Sister friend that is completely unhinged. Arrow will match whatever energy you give him, and has the personality of a golden retriever.

Kite

Kite is my TES Skyrim Khajiit (or Tabaxi if you speak D&D) with the stealth archer build. Kite honestly flips between being male and female in my head so they can be drawn as either or neither or both! LORE: Besides being the last dragonborn (and completely abusing that title) they've joined the Dark Brotherhood and became a Nightingale for the Thieves Guild. Kite enjoys doing trick shots with the bow, consuming every cheese wheel in sight, catching butterflies and decorating NPCs bodies (which may or may not be her doing) and committing unspeakable atrocities upon the townspeople of Falkreath. They're the most proficient in archery and thief skills, whatever that may be, and destruction magic, for some reason. Other than that he pretty much sucks at everything from blacksmithing to healing magic.

quantum break appreciation month: a quick retrospective

holy shit. that's a lot. i am retroactively impressed with my past self for doing all this, lmao. nice.

third of all! i wanna note that i started several projects this month that i have yet to finish. of course i'm not confining my quantum break posting to one month of the year (impossible) but i will take my time finishing the... uh... three fics and two meta essays i have unfinished, as well as the fansite i am working on. i want these to be GOOD, so i'm not going to rush them. i'm glad this month gave me to juice to finally get these projects started, though!

and lastly... why did i even do this project/event in the first place?

well... good question. i imagine i'm not the only one who has been Going Through It for a while now, and i just... really needed a big project to focus on for a while. and quantum break is like, one of the only things that i never get tired of thinking about, so... are you seeing my logic here?

all that said, i do genuinely want to work on putting more love out into the world. and i love quantum break! i want other people to love it too! (or at least, i want other people to look at my passion for it and be like "i dont go here but you keep doing your funky little thing my man," you know what i mean?)

This comes as a surprise to no one but I really love reading. I'm getting through Green Mile at the moment and I've started re-reading Howls Moving Castle!

I like videogames too! Mostly rpgs like Skyrim and Fallout! And farming games... I love them so much. Story of Seasons and Stardew hold a special place in my heart, as well as Persona & Pokemon.

I do like drawing as well! I haven't done much drawing, tho. Only got one digital sketch and haven't had the time to use my inks. But!! I am attending some art classes! (Not art school, more like… Uh. a course you can do for fun lol)

If so, what? >> I play single-player RPGs and MMORPGs the most -- Final Fantasy XIV is definitely the game I’ve played the most in the past year, and I also did another Skyrim run. I really like games with customisable player characters the most; I tend to lose interest in games that have an established character (The Witcher 3 is a very cool game! I still get bored of it pretty quickly no matter how many times I try to play it, and it’s largely because Geralt -- as loveable as he is -- is a very established character. I should just read the books or watch the TV show, lol). I also like games where the world adapts depending on the choices you make (high replayability, there), and games with intricate spiritual or divinity-related themes (I really like what Pillars of Eternity did there, and Final Fantasy games are often pretty intriguing on that front too). And then there’s games like Hades, which I didn’t expect to enjoy nearly as much as I do (because games where you die a lot as a rule are usually intimidating and frustrating, but Hades manages to make it a necessary part of how you get stronger and get more Cool Stuff so I feel way less bad about dying all the time, and also the NPCs are so fucking neat and the art style and combat mechanics are both intensely satisfying). The third kind of game I like is games like Journey, which... well, if you’ve played it, you’d know. It’s just beautiful. 2. What are three things you like about nature? >> It is a route to connection; learning about ecology and observing nonhuman creatures provides so much perspective and reminds me of how interconnected everything innately is, despite how disconnected I feel in the human world. That’s really it, like... everything I love about the natural world is summed up by that sentence. 3. In what ways are you a responsible/"functional" adult? In what ways do you feel you aren't? >> I am a responsible and functioning adult in that I use my small income wisely and conscientiously, I try to keep my living space clean and habitable, I take care of myself (physically and mentally) as best as I can, and I try to treat other people and other living creatures as respectfully as possible, acknowledging that they have their own rich internal lives just like I do. The things that I cannot do -- things that other people regard as part of “being an adult” because of social pressure and ableism -- are irrelevant to me. 4. Do you have any interesting facts about your ancestors? If so, what? If not, what about relatives? >> No. 5. Do you believe in spirits? (You can interpret "spirits" however you want.) >> This is a difficult question to answer, because I have no idea where to begin or how to approach the question. Are there any poems you like? >> There are a couple, but I can never remember what they are when I’m asked. 8. What do you think is missing/needs to be improved in the feminist movement? >> This is far outside my wheelhouse, all I know is that the TERF thing has ballooned out of control on social media at least, and it’s off-putting. 9. How open are you when it comes to talking about sex? (Whether that be your own sex life, sex in general, etc.) >> I have no issue talking about sex, generally. Talking about it personally is a hit or miss, depending, because my relationship to sexuality is fraught and mostly traumatic, and I am functionally asexual (I don’t feel sexually attracted to other humans, I experience libido but I have no desire to seek out another human being for sexual activity, and I find the idea of being sexualised to be unsettling at best at least 98% of the time). Also, because the kind of sex I do have is... well, Inworld, and no one really knows what that means or how that works except some other people that have “Inworlds” of their own. I also connect sex to things like... well, devouring and death and stuff (big Scorpio energy, you know the drill), which is repellant to a lot of people but makes perfect sense to me. So it’s tough. 10. Are you a fan of the horror genre? If so, what are some of your favorite films/television shows/books/etc. that you like? If not, what do you not like about it? >> I am! Maybe one day I’ll try to make a list of faves, but like... it’s hard to remember stuff like that off the top of my head. 11. Do you thiink we're living in a dystopian world? Why/Why not? >> I mean, maybe. I can see why people would say so, but I don’t really think about it too much. 12. Would you commit murder if you knew you could get away with it? >> I don’t know. I have no idea what the emotional or spiritual toll of committing a murder would be, so I’m wary to just say “sure!” or whatever. Also, Hannibal makes murder look sexy and romantic, and I appreciate that greatly, but like... real life ain’t like that, so what’s the point? 13. Which musical artist do you like that seems to surprise people? Why is that? >> I’m not sure. Most of the people that know me in any capacity become aware of my all-over-the-map music taste pretty quickly, I think. I don’t think I ever give off the impression that I only like one type of music. I think maybe it might surprise someone that I still listen to pop music from my childhood (BSB, Britney Spears)? It seems like most people my age “grow out” of that at some point, but I never stopped liking anything I liked back then, I just added way more stuff to my “I like this” list as time went on. 14. Would you rather have the power to resurrect the dead or enter the world of the dead (but you can't interact with anyone)? >> I don’t want to do either. I prefer the concept of being able to dwell in-between -- to see death and life in the same context, to recognise and love the paradoxes inherent, to not make an enemy of transience and impermanance. I want to rejoice in the rest that the dead receive, and regard it as hallowed and desirable, not disrupt it for some whim of mine own. Imagine you’re mega tired and you finally lay down to sleep and you’re sinking gratefully into the pillows and the blankets and drifting off... and then someone comes busting into your room and turning on lights and yelling about something completely irrelevant to you. That’s exactly the feeling I imagine when I think of someone waking the dead.

What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?

I’ll start with the Kelus that you know today, because he’s undergone a lot of changes over the years. I originally made him for an rp that never took off, and he was supposed to be this Edgy Straight Guy Protagonist #4234823934. He’s average height for a guy, and he was very heavily inspired by Napoleon, as he was a military leader. idk, this was a very strange rp with wolves who lived during the Holy Roman Empire????

Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?

Yes and no. I had a pretty solid idea about what he looked like, and I made him into a Nord, at first. But then my brother called me basic, and I wanted to try out the Dunmer (thinking they had disease resistance but I had mistaken them for Argonians during my first playthrough lmao), so Kel’s a Dunmer. The only design concept that translates over from my old rp days is that his werewolf form has reddish-brown fur. How did you choose their name?

I looked up Roman names on this one site, and I haven’t been able to find it again since. It haunts me, in a way, because I don’t remember the meaning of his name. :/

In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

(chants) Dwemer ruins Dwemer ruins Dwemer ruins. His father adored exploring them, Kel became interested in them later on in life after his father disappeared into them, and his design eventually incorporates Dwemer technology...

Is there any significance behind their hair color?

I really like a dark reddish brown hair color. It always reminds me of my guitar. Very warm and soft.

Is there any significance behind their eye color?

He’s a Dunmer. They have red eyes. His werewolf/original form in my story has golden eyes though.

Is there any significance behind their height?

Yes, actually! He’s not someone you would pick out of a crowd for being the Protagonist(tm) because he’s not tall. Also, men are expected to be tall, and that’s not necessarily true in real life.

What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?

I relate to the fact that he’s quiet until he’s comfortable with someone.

Are they based off of you, in some way?

Yes, he was always based off me, at least partially. In his Skyrim story, he’s a withdrawn, quiet mer who had to learn how to adapt to being put in the spotlight. That’s how I always felt when I was navigating school and social situations in general. Kelus and I both have anxiety, but not in the cutesy way.

If they have an LI, how much of their character is tailored to be compatible to that person?

Kelus and Faendal aren’t much alike at all. Kelus looks like a scary guy, but he’s actually quite soft and introverted. Faendal’s an extrovert, he’s very charming, but he’s also very insecure. Sometimes Kel needs space, and Faendal needs people.

Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?

I made this guy bi from the beginning because if he ended up with a guy in the rp, it wouldn’t be a surprise. I’m not bi myself, but over the course of Kel’s creation, we’ve both realized we aren’t straight lmao

What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?

It’s mostly that I’m laaazy. I don’t draw him often enough. However, I am constantly amazed by people who can do edits/screenshots/playlists. I’m not musically inclined and photography is not my forte.

How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?

Ha, well. This version of Kelus, in Skyrim, will get a happy ending, but he has to work for it. The one in my original story...I’m not sure yet.

If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

His father is a source of angst for him. He loves him, but he also realizes as an adult that he wasn’t the greatest man. Kelus is very stoic and most people would write him off as a scary bodyguard type of character, but he’s very insightful.

What is something about your OC can make you laugh?

Kelus’ nickname is Kel. “Kel” is the name for the Elder Scroll in Dovahzul. I named him years before ever playing Skyrim so imagine my surprise when Paarthurnax mentioned the Kel.

What is something about your OC  can make you cry?

He left his best friend Rismer behind because his father took all of their stuff and fled in the middle of the night.

Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?

I originally wrote his Skyrim story, intending for it to be a one-shot. I need to go back and make edits and add more depth to his relationships with others, not necessarily just Faendal.

What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?

He’s the sweetest dad. He didn’t think he would ever live long enough to adopt/have his own kids, but he adores his daughter.

What is your favorite fact about your OC?

...not really a Favorite fact of mine, but he was initially supposed to look like Sam Winchester...and he’s a Gemini, get well soon

Lets start this off with a little bit about myself and what I plan for this page. My name is Sam. Im a 30 year old mother of three, just married last October (2018) to Josh, whom I have spent the last seven years with. Its been a rocky road sometimes but we have grown together and have come a long way in our seven years. I am a very introverted, shy and compassionate woman. I love to read, write, dance, play with my kids, be near the water, binge tv shows, and though it scares me to venture out I love adventure and seeing new things. I have had a rough life, though admittedly the last ten years or so are on me. I have made many mistakes, the biggest being that I have a problem with keeping things to myself and being honest with the people closest to me. Im hopeful that this page will serve as a more public journal so to speak, where I can let out my thoughts, feelings, and sometimes rantings.. and get things off my chest. Anyway, enough about me for now. 

My children are my entire world. My oldest, Mikal, is 12. He is one of the sweetest and most compassionate kids i know. He loves his video games, running around with friends, nerf guns, playing with his siblings, arcades, and art. He plays soccer this year, and plays the flute. This boy changed my life. I was headed down a dark and dangerous path at just 17 years old and finding out I was pregnant with him literally changed my entire world. Im incredibly thankful for this. 

My second child is Kaleb. He is six years old, full of life and love. He is also autistic. This means his world is a bit different from the rest of us. Ill be posting a bit more about that and about him later. As well as the rest of my family. He has come a long way in just the last couple years and Im incredibly proud of the sweet boy hes become. He loves school, except the part where he has to get up and dressed and ready for the day. He was one of the first in his Kindergarten class to be able to read and know 45 words. He loves music and trains, crashing things, sirens, his tablet and playing in water. 

My third and last child is little miss Annabelle. She is a fiery little four year old redhead with so much attitude and sass, and a big heart to match. She will be starting preschool and dance classes in the fall, and loves to sing, dance, watch videos, play video games with her big brother, anything Mario or Peppa Pig related, LOL dolls and surprise eggs. I call her my sour patch kid because she goes from being this sassy attitude driven monster to being the sweet loving baby girl. haha. 

My husband is a truck driver, and though he was over the road for some time, hes now on a route that keeps him fairly close to home which has been wonderful. Hes a kind hearted, opinionated, silly “old man” of forty seven, who loves his family more than anything, has four more “kids” who are all adults now, and puts those he loves before himself. We are very much opposites in many ways, but Im proud to call him mine. He loves to sing, play skyrim, be outdoors, spend time with his kids, cook, and relax at home with his family.  

Thats my family, youll read much more about all of us down the road Im sure. Heres to the future, putting the past behind me. No more holding back, no more half truths or keeping everything inside. This is my place to be 100% myself, and I plan to do just that.

Attention Followers!!!

   Soooo...I’ve decided to turn this into a Multi-fandom blog. I’ve come to realize that I have way too many interests just to dedicate a single blog to each of them tbh. That would be way too difficult I think and then it wouldn’t be fun anymore.    I’m keeping the name Dragon Eggsquisition because, like, how awesome is that??? Actually it might be really lame XD but i like it lol. I will still do Dragon Age things of course. I mean, Dragon Age is the reason I even made a blog in the first place so it will always hold a special place in my heart - but so do a great many other things. And I wanna share and create for those other things :)    This will also allow me to be way more active and post a lot of my own original writing/art/fandom stuff that I have. I’ll probably just put other things like my own thoughts and stuff too. The whole purpose of this blog was to have fun and post my fanfiction/art (which i haven’t been doing much of lately) and i tend to really hyperfocus on things sometimes and dedicate months and months to it before moving on (meaning this blog stays untouched and collecting dust for a while XD).     Anyways. i just wanted to make an announcement so that those of you who followed me specifically for the Dragon Age stuff won’t be too surprised XD

VIII. Average hours spent sleeping?

lol wut is sleep???? Just kidding kind of. Well, it depends on the kind of day I’m having. I mean, I just woke up an hour ago, and it’s three in the afternoon ajskjsklj. So, sometimes it’s a classic 10+ hour depression nap, or it’s the “I can run on three hours of sleep no problem.” Hardly ever do I sleep a healthy 8 hours. :(

IX. Dogs or cats?

ugh another “choose an animal” question. I can’t. I love dogs and cats, and I have both.

X. Number of blankets you sleep with?

In the summer, just one so I don’t die of heat exhaustion, but in the winter, I use two.

XI. What’s your dream trip?

Honestly, I’d love to plan a trip to hit every continent (apart from Antarctica bc no) and just see all the major countries and cities and just experience all the cultures of the world. Places I’d look most forward to on that trip would be Australia, Spain, annnddd the Scandinavian countries as well as Iceland (unless that’s considered Scandinavian???) :)

On this blog, I think I have 80? I’m not sure. I’m surprised I even have that many a;kljskljs Thank you all!

XV. How many pets do you have?

A cat, a dog, two fish, and a turtle--so five. 

XVI. Best places to visit in your town or country?

My town is sh*t, so there’s nothing “best” about it. As far as my country goes, I mean, where do you start? I’ve never been to most of these places, but probs the ever classic New York, Cali, Florida (I have been to FL, but not deep in the panhandle). I mean, they’re not really “talked about,” but I’d love to see Oregon and Washington.

XVII. Favorite ice cream flavor?

I’m in the 2% of people who actually like strawberry alkjslksj

XIX. Favorite study locations?

When I was in college, my dorm was on a little campus lake, so I’d take my studies out there bc it was really calming. I didn’t usually study in the library bc I couldn’t take the heavy feeling of desperation and stress and anxiety coming from everyone else in there.

Uuuuuuuhhhhhhh this is a really hard question bc I’m ALWAYS reading. Hmmmmm maybe HP bc it’s one of the first series I completed???

I am not good at making decisions like this. Maybe The Doors? Gotta love that classic psychedelic rock. RIP Jim Morrison.

I always loved English (duh lol) and science--esp biology.

4. What’s an inside joke you have?

God, I wish I was cool enough to have all these cool insiders with friends, but I just don’t. My lil bro and I have a lot tho. Like, we’ll watch funny videos or play the same video game or watch the same tv show, so we can crack jokes about that stuff that makes everyone else go “???” Also, he and I are big on vines, so we make about 50 incredibly well-placed vine references every day. lolol (he’s my little buddy--I say little, but he’s 16 alkjljslksj)

5. Ever been to Disney?

No. >:( I’ve never been able to afford it, but ONE day.

6. Do you like rollercoasters? 

I’ve only ever been on minor ones, but I enjoyed those, so maybe I’d like the major ones? 

7. Favorite movie?

One of the first movies I remember watching was Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and that’s a classic. It’s def one of my faves. I also watched The Labyrinth a lot as a kid. I JUST REMEMBERED CORALINE IS A THING, AND I LOVE THAT MOVIE. SO CORALINE IS MY FAVE.

8. What’s your dream job?

Something that categorizes as philanthropic. I just want to be able to help and talk to people all over the world. :)))) (also, if any of my young followers are stressed about not having it figured out, I’m 22 and have no idea what I’m doing. It’s okay.)

9. What’s something you wish you were good at?

Art or dancing. Ah, to have been one of those art students in college. 

10. What do you listen to during long car rides?

I make me some rad af car ride playlists skljakljskl I have ones for summer car rides, ones for night car rides, ones for driving in the rain--I’ve got it all. lolol

I don’t usually drink warm drinks, but I occasionally have tea.

I play a LOT of video games, but one of the first I ever played was Super Mario on the Nintendo 64, so probs that. I also like Halo and Skyrim a lot.

I’d like to say warm, sunny weather bc I like it in theory--the feeling of the sun on your skin, light hair, dark skin, being outside, etc.--but it’s just not realistic. The rain is more likely bc I get inspired to write and I have an excuse to stay inside akjslksj

4) What mood are you currently in?

A very “blah” mood. There’s so much I want to get done, but I have NO motivation.

5) Favorite comfort food?

This is gonna be really lame, but it’s cereal. When I was in college, I could only afford cereal, and after going sometimes days without eating, to have that bowl of cereal was just a godsend. :)

6) What is one of your main hobbies? 

READING! I have a literal wall of books in my room. I’ve been avidly reading since I was about eight years old. 

7) Your opinion on the pineapple on pizza discourse?

Don’t like it. At all. That tangy fruit taste mixed with cheese and red sauce? No. 

8) Someone you really look up to.

My mommy. <3333 She’s an incredible woman, and she just embodies everything that feels motherly. Most of my friends call her mom bc that’s what she is, through and through. I aspire to be like her in life because she’s just so full of love and comfort and warmth. I love her so much. (I’m crying now thinking about her alkjlksjslk)

9) A joke that makes you laugh.
