I finally have display racks for my teacup collection!

My dad was kind enough to hang them for me this afternoon, and my mother helped me put together the cups and saucers on the racks.

It's dark and late now, so I don't have any pictures to show, but I'll be taking a bunch in the morning, so you'll get to see them soon!

I have a gripe about the Star Trek mugs...

Picard's teacup is a delicate, fragile little thing held by a strip of plastic and a dream. That thin glass will break if you look at it sideways. And where do they put that ridiculous tiny cup? On the Enterprise, which is always being dragged into conflict

The DS9 raktajino mugs are hefty, wide-based things that are meant to not tip over. They're called no-spill mugs. They have a foam piece on the bottom so they don't slip. They're incredibly sturdy – meant for ships and traveling! Where do they put them? At the station, which is arguably the most stable place they could be cause DS9 rarely gets knocked about.

Far as I'm concerned, Janeway's the only one doing practical space mugs correctly. Come on, a metal travel mug that's as strong as her coffee is black? Takes a beating through 70,000 light years of bridge shakes fighting off the Borg and the Hirogen and still holds a hot drink? Now that's a space mug

i feel like postwar!levi would be super invested in a teacup collection. Like, in your home there’s an entire glass cabinet dedicated to dozens of teacups made of different materials, different designs and all sorts of sizes.

Every time you go shopping with him and he sees a unique teacup set? Buy. straight away, it’s going in the shopping cart. Once he even came home with two sets of porcelain teacups, both with the same intricate, china blue floral design carved into the sides of the delicate pieces.

“levi, why’d you get two of the same thing?”

“they aren’t the same. This one is celadon,” he lifts the box with the set that had a slightly greenish tint. “and this one is soft paste porcelain.”

“alright mr teacup expert. The cupboard’s running outa space though,”

“then we’ll get a new one. Now help me out here, should I use the cream coloured one or the maroon one?”

You can’t help but smile as he carefully handles his teacups, polishing them as he goes along. You’re glad he’s finally found peace, and a nice little hobby to keep both of you occupied.

Dude I got mad on reddit under a thread where they were talking about why people don’t like Ky (the OP was asking to try and understand the memes). Everyone was trying to dunk on Ky, nobody was answering the question with anything but repeated memes. I got sidetracked talking about Dizzy and Ky memes…they’re deep characters I promise!! Aaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

Honest to god the worst thing that can happen to a fandom is when the memes completely overwrite the canon lore/personality of a character. They don't even know that Sol was lowkey terrified of Ky during the Crusades because of how bloodthirsty for Gear blood Ky was before meeting Dizzy and realizing that he was killing intelligent beings. Or that Ky was willing to risk everything, seriously, to protect her. Why don't more people pick on him for his teacup collection the same way people constantly bring up Sol's Sheer Heart Attack record, also

After L died, while Light was cleaning out L's stuff from the headquarters, he couldn't bring himself to get rid of everything. Though he would never admit it, it felt empty without L, he liked to call this emptiness something as simple as 'boredom' but it went deeper than that.
