Noted political message of sorts -- the green bear has a "Buy Fake Furs" t-shirt.

Two differences -- the reprint cuts it off where you see it here -- panda's ear now is off panel. And two lines on Betty's chest are removed.

This appears to be one of five in a series of double page illustrations placed in the center of five comics at this time period -- why it had to get cropped a tad in reprint -- and comes off after two with Veronica, so there does seem to be an "equal time" element for it. I have posted the beach "shrinking swimsuit" gag(?) featuring both of them due to notable re-color decisions, have the Halloween one with Veronica in the Halloween cover collection post, and have no reason or excuse to post the other two -- as they keep Veronica's cleavage when reprinting her laying in a desert in Texas (though do drop the advert line to pick up the latest issue of Veronica in Texas!), and don't (that I know) reprint the other Betty one -- a weird one entitled "Betty's Fantasy Pin Up" that comics dot org has for synopis "Betty plays saxophone in front of a packed football stadium crowd in a cowboy hat and boots, a fringe bikini and little else." -- not mentioned, she is blowing bubbles with 6 of the gang and Weatherbee and Grundy. I end up with more questions than answers and ask -- what exactly is Betty's fantasy with this one?

AU Summary of my HamboSimon AU (HS AU)

This is HamboSimon aka Hambmon/Toymon

He used to be just like canon Simon up until the AT finale.

Remember when Ice King interrupting Betty's summoning of Golb caused an emotional supercharge that literally caused Maja to explode and die?

Well, in this AU Maja was so pissed about that, that she sent a curse Simon's way from the Dead Worlds, a curse inspired both by the comatose state she'd been stuck in and the teddy bear he only gave to Marceline.

When Marceline found him the next morning she didn't even doubt that he's somehow managed to get himself cursed again to get turned into a Hambo-replica.

HS is unable to move, speak, eat, sleep, etc, all he can do is feel, see, hear, smell and just in general be aware of his surroundings and anything happening to him without being able to show any sign of life.

Which made convincing others that he's really Simon very difficult for Marceline, even causing her to eventually break up with PB again because she wouldn't believe her.

She also lost LSP as her friend and nearly killed her after she tried to burn the (luckily magically fireproof) plush toy.

The only ones fully willing to believe Marcy (or at least give her the benefit of a doubt) and try to help her find a way to fix Simon are Finn and Jake.

2) double the madness, double the fun

3) they have a really fun dynamic, because Simon is the only sane one present.

4) Magic Betty x Winter looks a lot like "hey, I'm gonna go do this bad idea" "without me????"

5) everyone in the bedroom? Insane.

6) Betty really likes to dom both of them, but what she likes more? Competing with Winter while they both dom Simon.

7) In any other circumstance, Simon would be domming Winter, but there's something about the way that Betty touches him that turns him to putty.

The boys all being big brothers except shy guy is perfection.

Betty and Gil being siblings is unexpected but adorable!! Their sibling banter was hilarious, and accurate. Gil and his crush on Olivia is actually adorable. The fact that he has five sisters makes the way he treats women in comparison to the other guys in the show make so much since. Also the way he would not let Richie steal Potato’s dad’s lucky dollar was so sweet :( “I’ve been the man of the house since I was eight years old and I’m exhausted” 😭😭😭

Potato taking care of his younger siblings and letting his dad sleep :( he’s so sweet. It makes his funny guy friend persona make so much more sense. He is such a good guy. The way he loves his dad :( his dad’s ptsd affecting the whole family :(

Shy Guy boxing is such a juxtaposition to his personality, but it makes sense. He’s a big sweetheart and later in the episode when Richie tries to use his size for intimidation purposes, you can really see how much that hurts him. He’s just a big teddy bear. He’s so valid for standing up for himself in the parking garage.

Richie 😭 him having no clue how to regulate his emotions😭 him getting the whole group in trouble and them trying to stop it 😭 him beating himself up in the parking garage 😭

THE WAY THEY ALL CRY TOGETHER BUT ARE LIKE IM NOT CRYING AND THEN THE DUST THING SO THEY CAN HUG WITHOUT HUGGING 😭 it’s so representative of the way boys and men are taught to not show their emotions at all and so they have no healthy way to process it.

The way they were so proud when Shy Guy did his lines 🫶

Buddy’s journey this episode was so necessary for him as a character. He’s the good guy, rich kid character that’s never really had to try for anything and learning that there’s a reason he didn’t have to try is devastating. He feels like he has never done anything to deserve anything he has and now has to process that.

His solo was really good. I’m glad he stuck up to his dad. He’s still not my favorite because every time he seems to be making a real effort to change, he seems to take a step backwards.

We love open and honest discussions about our feelings. Good job for not pushing, I’m actually really proud of Richie.
