Sam Manson's Jewish and that's so cool

I love that sam's Jewish. I love that it's explicitly stated and shown in the show. It gets it's major focus on the Christmas episode, because of course or does (nickelodeon doing any more than the most basic top lair knowledge of Judaism for Sam & her family? Unlikely.) But I wanted to add that it was hinted at since nearly the very beginning, in a rather small way.

Grandma Ida refers to herself as "Bubbe" in "Attack of the Killer Garage Sale" S1E4, when she's in a small shot as Sam shows off her basement bowling alley (to Tucker), which Ida is playing with. "Bubbe" is a Yiddish word for Grandma :)

So that is to say, before I realized she did when I was rewatching, I had thought they only splashed the Judaism in only for the Christmas episode, for that 90s-influenced/early-00s inclusivity that had gone around as a concept in very cool shows around that time. (equality among races and religions in the U.S. and the like) But no! Given that one seemingly random little line, Sam's family was always meant to be Jewish.

Now I'm not Jewish myself, but the decent representations of Jewish people in media is very important to me. And! The fact that, even with the shows spotty writing at times, the creating crew had seemingly, always intended her as such at the time the show was being created; it makes me happy to think about :)

as far as legends go, the one that is in universe that I’ve built on is The Great Ice Dragon.

this is an IceWing deity that was said to be both the first animus and the first dragon to be born with ice breath. It separated itself and its chosen children from the fire-drakes many many eons ago. It used its animus magic to bless its followers with ice breath, cold intolerance, thick fur, and sharp claws so they could live in the tundra. It also blessed a few of these dragons with animus magic. There are many temples/monuments to The Great Ice Dragon in the Ice Kingdom to this day. The aurora borealis is said to be a manifestation of the deity’s magic as it dances through the sky over its children.

also I headcannon that the NightWings have three goddesses which are the moons. They each have a name and are three sisters. The SkyWings worship the sun god.

Imagine this: MY gets put up against some random Wen! He wins on account of strategy and agility, rather than brute force. The Nie are proud and stuff, but WRH, isn't of being mad, becomes very intrigued about MY.

He starts thinking about how he can very much hurt NMJ if he happens to take MY for himself, and how MY can be an asset as a hostage

So he does! He kidnaps MY from his bed in Unclean Realm and locks him up somewhere in Nightless City. WRH' soldiers go onto MY but MY kills them with his bare hands. Which interests WRH beyond "I can use this to hurt NMJ"

And we end up with a situation similiar to canon! Except this time, MY isn't undercover; he has no contact with the outside. He also hasn't commit the crime that got him kicked out of Qinghe— he is doing whatever WRH asks, because he wants to survive. But WRH ends up genuinely liking him. And MY ends up liking him back on account of daddy issues Older Man Gives Praise factor. And he feels horribly guilty about it

Cue, during sunshot, a far more whumpy reunital with NMJ. NMj who is shell shocked. NMJ who's been worrying about MY for years and then sees him by the side of the man who killed his father. NMJ who thought MY was getting tortured but turns out he isn't.

MY who feels horribly guilty. MY who hates to break NMJ's trust. MY who's become almost two separate people on account of compartmentalization: Wen Yao and Nie Yao. (So to speak)

Meng Yao who got legitimised (or made furen for that matter), and doesn't want to give that up. MY who's more attatched to WRH than he ever was to NMJ, on account of WRH's open praise that is also tactful (unlike NMJ's scolding which brought him more trouble) and on account of WRH being significantly older. On account of WRH gutting anyone that tries to hurt him.

And now MY is caugh up in a weird web of relationships where he doesn't want to hurt NMJ and is trying to avoid doing that, who still loves NMJ, but he also doesn't want to disappoint WRH.

I can’t see it working out if they already have a past; when they meet for the first time it’s probably a hostile encounter where they both have their guns drawn on each other and Ghost’s negative traits are more focused on self-survival because he doesn’t want to travel with a person who can’t take care of themselves. He’d be cold and he’d be abrasive. The only reason why you don't immediately kill him is because his sharpshooter skills are more important than the weapons he has, and he needs someone to take him across the country from the Manchester QZ to the London QZ where the rest of the 141 is.

Hero continued to stare down at the city. Even at night it was busy, and they could hear the cars honking even from the rooftop of the tallest building in the area.

Or maybe it was just their super-hearing.

The city was noisy. Too noisy for the heros liking. On top of that the villain had found them and had decided to sit with them at the edge of the building.

But not to enjoy the view.

No, villain had made it their goal to annoy hero while they had hoped for some peace.

Hero stayed silent.

Villain grumbled something and rested their head against the heros shoulder.

The urge to push their enemy away was big, but Hero let them.

It wasn't often that they got two hours off. Two hours of sitting on a roof without thinking about the paperwork they would need to do once they got back to the agency.

Out of the corner of their eye they saw how villain kicked their dangling legs back and forth. They had also begun to hum a song the hero had heard on the radio a few times.
