Ian: Come on, you.
The Master: This is undignified!
Ian: We're not leaving you in [the Doctor's TARDIS].
The Master: At least remove the hood.
Barbara: I suppose we are sufficiently deprogrammed... As long as we stay on our guard.
The Master: This world, again? No!
Barbara: It seems to be the same storage bay... But different- cleaner.
1st Doctor: Chesterton! Ms Wright!
Barbara: Doctor!
The Master: Oh, no... Put the hood back on. PLEASE!
(The First Doctor Adventures 1.1: The Destination Wars)
(A few minutes later...)
The Master escapes from the crate they locked him in, chuckling.
Dreyfus!Master: You weren't the only one to meet with Houdini, Doctor!

Big Finish, if you do a story where the central conceit is that there is a mysterious noise that is causing spooky happenings and that noise occurs repeatedly at length throughout the audio, then, I cannot stress this enough, that noise needs to NOT be too loud and actively painful and distressing to listen to, for me, the actual IRL person trying to listen to the audio.
I get that you want it to be realistic that the story's characters find the noise distressing, but sometimes you've got to sacrifice realism for the sake of physical listener comfort. (Also it's a doctor who story so lets face it, realism is already out the window )
Signed, someone who had to fast forward through approximately 50% of The Demon Song because even lowering the volume to minimum didn't help.

An Adventure in Space and Time | The Future Doctor
"Graham Potter says the TARDIS will run out of petrol soon, but I told him he was stupid. The TARDIS will go on and on forever, because it's special and magic. Like my Sampa." "Well, I..." "My Sampa's Doctor Who and he can do anything."

my Eight, Tigger and Eeyore Caerdroia cosplay! Eight was not the most pleased they were there but Tigger sure had a great time for all three of them!
my talented partner @cosmik-homo sowed the coats on the little fellas, including Eeroye's pants and vest! and both of their cravats! their vests are made from the same fabric as my main eight here!
featuring them being in the tardis like they never got to do! i had a great time in Gally 1 this year with these little fellas and hope to bring them next year with some matching ribbens for them!
here are more details shots of these two under the cut:

Just finished listening to The Great White Hurricane- it's kinda funny how it ends with the Doctor telling Ian and Barbara: "I know how to return you to Earth!!!"
But they're in New York.
(In 1888. But still, it ain't exactly Peladon or Mondas. You were close enough already Snail!)

the thing is that martha and the doctor are an interesting, complicated, eternally evolving in my head dynamic that completely change the game of the narrative, and I am so into them and I will think about them forever and ever
and on the other hand I suspect that at least a certain percent of it comes from my specific reading of the doctor-as-character, and from things that the writing brought up around martha, her position in her family, her history as a medical student, her later decision to join UNIT and Torchwood, her more-than-average complex feelings both during and after being a Companion about what that life meant for her, and what the doctor changed in her life, that I would say were intentional, but weren't brought up in a narrative that was given as much space and time (ha) as other companions, and so she is eternally left in character limbo where I can only ask questions (and read fanfic) and stipulate on what this story was all about for her, and where she went as consequence, and what her feelings are about having been within it, and of course the parts that aged more poorly related to a bunch of white people writing a black woman as a lead character who weren't so well-versed on nuance as one would wish... so it's also the most frustrating dynamic in nu!who, if not all of doctor who, for me, because there is no attempt at giving it a proper end from her side, in the way there has been for so many other companions, including of course lots and lots of classic!who companions
on the third hand you would really want that potential bringing-back to be interesting in a way that interacts with their past dynamic, and fun for freema to do, and you'd worry about the amount of racist backlash that might occur, because nobody was giving martha grace as a character in the first place, would this past complexity that seemed to go over a lot of peoples' heads be something that the show perhaps should be more explicit about, so that there is no ambiguity as to how this series of events affected her and why it's more complicated than with other companions, and how does it both honour her character's inherent strengths, while also not having to make her be so strong All The Damn Time
on the fourth hand... just wanna see her again. and she'd be fire opposite ncuti, you know she would

Patrick Troughton - billed as Pat - helps the stricken French nobility (and flashes the audience) as Sir Andrew Ffoulkes, a staunch ally of the title character in The Adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel (ITP, 1955 - 1956)
#fave spotting#patrick troughton#the adventures of the scarlet pimpernel#doctor who#classic doctor who#two#itp#itc#1955#I've had a nice rhythm going lately with pairing a 50 min series (usually The Saint these days‚ tho not for much longer...) with a shorter#25 min one to dip into when I've less time or whatever. with The Adventurer over (adieu and farewell Gene Bradley you insane#multi talented everything) i thought I'd change it up a little and go for a much earlier itc series for a different tone. so early in fact#that they weren't even ITC yet; the company was then known as the Incorporated Television Programme Company‚ ITP for short‚ but be not#fooled; this is in every way the Lew Grade led company that would come to dominate the commercial tv world in the decades to follow#The Adventures of Robin Hood is usually identified as the first ITC production but in fact it beat this series to the screen by only#3 days and the two shows were presumably in production simultaneously. Hood went on to be the making of ITC and Lew Grade and lasted#a whopping 143 episodes over 4 years; Pimpernel made it to only 18 despite being planned as a 39 part series (standard length for these#early itc shows). exactly what went wrong i dont know; Goring was heavily involved in production as well as starring and maybe that played#a part‚ or maybe the popular success of Hood meant this show was no longer affordable. idk im just speculating but from#what I've seen it's fairly fun. starting on ITV just a week after the network commenced transmission‚ it's safe to say this didn't capture#the public imagination like Hood did and it does seem to have been rather forgotten about. Pat is actually a series regular and these#pics come from a few different eps among the first few. he isn't in the very first (nor is the Pimpernel's other faithful companion#played by Anthony Newlands) and i do wonder if that was a pilot (it has Robert Shaw as the Pimpernel's right hand and to my#knowledge he doesn't reappear; he'd make up for it with a starring role in one of ITC's next series‚ The Buccaneers#but yes he's here and he's fantastic and gets to be dashing and heroic (tho never moreso than Goring of course). he's also the one of the#three heroes who best suits the powdered hair look (Newlands looks quite unfortunate). and of course i know what im doing with that#last shirtless pic.. you're welcome Pat girlies (gender neutral)#maybe I'll make another post after I've seen a few more eps but i wasn't going to commit to a Pat post for every episode im afraid
