This was exactly what you signed yourself up for, you tried to stop it. Telling yourself to bury the feeling deep down so you couldn’t get hurt, you hated feeling weak and this was exactly what you expected. You knew he would crush your heart, that you would wait for the end of time for him, just for him to feeling anything…
Anything other then anger.
“Don’t you walk away from me!” He shouted from behind you as your back was turned. You bit the inside of your cheek ready to cry and scream in anger. Spinning yourself you glare at him, his face dirty and sweat dripping and he looked as miserable as always. “Or what, Brekker?” You stepped closer, never letting your anger slip.
“Because we both know you can’t afford to let me go, who else would you have to throw in harms way? Inej, oh not your wraith. Jesper? Not him, your charming shooter. Nina, wylan, Matthias? Because for fuck sake he risk anyone he doesn’t care about!” You shouted as loud as you could, actually hoping everyone could hear you in ketterdam.
“Don’t you shout at me, this wasn’t my fault. We got the job done so stop yelling like this.” He groaned out. You laughed and put on a smile, “Oh thank the saints! We got the job done, so glad my almost death was worth it.” You cheered while putting your hands up.
Kaz looked at you with a glare and stood up straight not having the slightest bit of amusement from you. “For fuck sake, I had a plan. Yes you almost died but that happens on jobs like these. You came to me remember? You signed yourself up for this.”
You sighed yourself up for everything.
“No, I did not. If jesper wouldn’t have acted fast I would have fell from the building, nothing under me or could stop me from hitting the ground. I knew i could die on these jobs,” you went quieter and your eyes become heavy and flickering with tears, “what I didn’t know is that I would be used as a target to just toss around. Each time it’s always me who almost dies and you tell me to do it.”
He glare softens and his jaw unclenches it self. “I don’t toss you for you to die. You know that.” But did you? Did he ever give you a reason to believe that? “I actually don’t, kaz. I know nothing of what you feel or care about other then yourself.” The words cutting him like a knife. She wasn’t yelling or shouting but speaking to him in such a hurt tone.
“I know you know how I feel about you, kaz. I tried to hide it but it was just too hard, and I thought when you looked back at me- That you felt the same way I did.” You laughed and wiped the tears rolling down your face, “Funny huh? It was pathetic of me to believe that. Because you never could care for me like I want you to, you can’t even treat me like something other then a pawn.”
He couldn’t say anything, couldn’t do anything as she broke in front of him. She didn’t know that it was her he cared about the most and it scare him how deep his feelings went. He pushed her away each time to not let the feeling take over, always yelling at her or moving her around. And it killed him to know he could never pull her close and touch her skin.
“Nothing to say? Fine, I’ll talk for the both of us. I’m leaving and when I come back we will forget this ever happen. You wouldn’t speak to me other then on a job, no glances from across the room. Nothing but acquaintances.” Speaking clearly with her mind made up.
Kax watched her walk away to the door and all he wanted to do was go after her and make her stay with him, tell her just how much he cares for her. But she could never know, he could never give her what she deserves. He stepped closer and his body moving on its own, but he forced himself still. You turned around and looked at him half way out the door, a sad smile on your lips and glossy eyes.
“Goodbye, kaz.” And then he lost sight of you and his heart shattered. He knew this was your way of saying goodbye to the way it was between the two of you. It was never going to be the same, a goodbye to him as yourself. He huffed and turned around to clear his deck of everything on it in anger. He shouted and slammed his hands on the table knowing it could very well be goodbye forever.
“You never were a pawn.” He sighed to himself like he was talking to your ghost. Everything he wanted to say.

Into the fire- Chapter one (Kaz x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
"I win again."
"Son of a bitch."
"I want another go around."
"Jesper, if you go again, you'll be leaving in your birthday suit, and that is an image we can all live without."
You laughed at Inej who was seated at the table in the Crow Club you all frequently visited. Inej didn't seem fond of the idea of you joining at first. Then, after a week she seemed pretty alright with the idea. You were clean, you were kind, if she asked you to do something, you'd do it. You now even shared a room. Both of you were insomniacs with your own shitshows of trauma. After a late night of warm milk and a discussion, the friendship formed.
Jesper though, seemed friendly from the start. He had a project in mind. The "out" list, he called it. What were things that you wanted to do that you couldn't do because of your prison time or home situation? He wanted you to write it down and he'd try to help make it happen. You had this strange security of this group. They helped mend the pieces Hellgate broke and made them new.
You sat cross legged in a chair beside him watching the rain. Jesper looked at you with a grin. "Aye. That bit, line three." He said. You looked over.
"What?"
"Dance in the rain." He said.
"Oh that's ridiculous." Inej laughed.
"Still. Haven't you ever felt like... free enough to do it. Like just....dance?" You asked. She shook her head and you perked up, along with Jesper. "What?" Inej asked. Jesper got up, taking your hand.
"Come onnn!" You said to her. She shook her head.
"I'll have fun without my cold, thank you." She said.
"Party pooper" Jesper said, running outside with you.
Kaz stepped out of his office, papers in hand as he prepared to walk outside. He looked up though when he heard muffled laughing. Inej shook her head with a smile as her and Kaz watched you play in the rain with Jesper. "What is she doing?" Kaz asked.
"She's enjoying her time being free." Inej said, watching you. Jesper picked you up in a hug, spinning you around as you laughed.
Kaz couldn't explain it. That smile, that radiant laugh. He had only known you two weeks and he seemed to enjoy the fact that you seemingly fit right into the Dregs. Hell, even stone cold Xander at the bar enjoyed your presence. You had this way of making people naturally fall in love with you, whether it be platonic or romantic.
You took Jesper's hat, giggling as he pretended to fall at your feet. The rain was your favorite, even in the Hellgate. It helped tell you a passage of time, it also masked that smell of death the nearby island caused. Now that you were out, you loved the rain even more. That feeling of it on your skin, the freedom to walk in it, actually walk without being on a chained leash. You weren't held by those chains anymore.
Kaz cleared his throat, Inej biting back an urge to smile. She knew Kaz, as much as he didn't want to admit it, was definitely falling for you, just like everyone else. If anything it was worse because it definitely wasn't platonic and it didn't just end with a sexual desire. If he had you, he wanted all of you. Not just your body but your heart and soul. He wanted to know you beyond what he had seen already, and Inej knew that.
"You could join them, you know." Inej said.
"And catch a cold?" He asked sarcastically.
"I don't believe that's stopping them." She said.
"What are they even doing out there?" Kaz asked. "Well, they're dancing." She said.
"Yes, I see that they're dancing Inej, why are they dancing?" He asked.
"Jesper and her have some sort of list and they're checking off one of the things on the list." She said.
"What, like a shopping list?" Kaz asked.
"No like a bucket list." Inej corrected.
"A what?"
"Saints Kaz- a bucket list. A list of things you want to do before you die." He looked at her confused.
"Is she dying?"
"No, she just has a list of things she wants to do now that she's free. I said it was like a bucket list, not actually a bucket list." Inej said with a sigh.
Inej reached over into your bag, handing him a folded piece of paper. He read it. You had at least eighty things on that list. They were things Kaz didn't even think anyone would actually desire. "See the stars in the country, lay in a field of flowers. These are all so... trivial." He said.
"Yeah but as someone who didn't have that freedom to make it trivial, it means the world to her." Inej said. Kaz looked at the list again and rose a brow.
"She doesn't know how to swim." He said.
"Hmm?" She asked. He showed her a bullet point.
"Learn to swim." Inej shrugged. Kaz noticed one bullet point that caught his eye. "Kiss someone I love" was written below learning to swim.
"Y'know, if you want to get to know her better, you could actually talk to her." Inej said. Kaz frowned.
"I don't want to get to know her." He said.
"Right, so you're just contently watching her and Jesper because you're not intrigued by her personality." She said, looking at him. He opened his mouth but closed it, looking at her with a glare. "I'm just saying, if you want to know her, you can spend time with her." Inej said. Kaz rolled his eyes.
"We have a job we need to discuss." He said. Inej sighed, grabbing her coat. The two walked out and Kaz looked at you and Jesper.
"You're going to catch a cold " Kaz said.
"Oh but a fun one, isn't that right Y/n?" Jesper asked. You let out a laugh, one that nearly made him weak in the knees.
"We have a job in the morning. Y/n, be in the Slat office." He said.
"Just me?" You asked. Inej looked over at him, biting back a smirk.
"Just you." He nodded.
You gave a small salute with a grin. "You got it" You said before Jesper scooped you up. You giggled and Kaz cleared his throat to bite back that smile that was forming.
"Have fun with your pneumonia." He said sarcastically.
"We will" Jesper laughed.
The next morning you made for his office, standing at his desk. "I'm surprised you don't have a cold." Kaz said, not looking up from papers.
"Jesper does. I'm used to the cold and damp weather." You shrugged. He nodded. "So, am I going alone?" You asked.
"No." He said. "Oh. I figured it was just me here-"
"I'm going with you." He said. You rose a brow.
"What?" You asked.
"Jesper has seen how you work, Inej has seen how you work, yet I haven't seen it." He said. You shrugged.
"Alright, where are we going?" You asked.
"Financial district." He said. You nodded.
"Alright, lead the way." You said. He got up, walking out with you. The rain from yesterday had stopped, the sun barely peaking out from behind the clouds. You seemed to take note of the rain drops that were still dripping off of awnings. You had a smile on your face, looking at the crows that sat on the edges of the buildings.
"Inej tells me you have a list." He said.
"The whole thing was Jesper's idea." You said.
"It sounds like something he'd come up with." He said. You nodded.
"I love the list though. It makes me live life to the fullest." You said, Kaz looking at you with a brow raised.
"What things are on the list, exactly?" He asked, as if he didn't read the damn thing in full.
"Eh. Simple stuff. Dance in the rain, lay in a field of flowers. Cheesy stuff like that." You shrugged.
"Mm. Sounds... time consuming." He said.
"Well yeah but it's worth it." You said.
"If you say so." He said, walking.
"So what is this job exactly?" You asked.
"Do you know who an Alvia Warner is?" He asked. You shook your head.
"Very wealthy." He said. You nodded, smelling the faint scent of coffee.
"Y'know... it occurs to me that I work for you but I don't know anything about you." You said. He looked over.
"You can ask me things, I might not answer." He said simply.
"Do you like coffee?" You asked.
"Yes." He answered.
"Do you read?" You asked.
"On occasion."
"Hobbies?" You asked.
"None."
"Surely you've got at least one."
"I make my enemies terrified to sleep at night." He answered.
"Alright then." You said.
"If we're being open, what about you?" He asked.
"What about me?" You asked.
"Where are you from?" He asked. You showed a visible discomfort.
"Djerholm" you answered. Kaz stopped and you turned.
"You are nobility?" He asked, staring at you with a slight sense of betrayal.
"No. My family is nobility, I am disowned. I'm just me." You said.
"Why were you disowned?" Kaz asked.
"I didn't wish to wed a man." You said walking again. Kaz followed you.
"I was forced into an arranged marriage where I would've been the subject of a very cruel hearted man. I would've been forced to bare his children, I would've been beaten regularly by him, I would've most likely died by his hand. So I had a choice. Stay there and die, or leave and fight." You said. Kaz found that to be a respectable answer.
"What makes you so sure that you would've died?" Kaz asked.
"Because a girl married him six months after I left. She was found dead with a letter opener in her throat." You said.
Kaz was shocked by this answer.
"Do Inej and Jesper know?" He asked.
"Of course they do. We live in the same complex and I share a room with Inej. Plus, my mannerisms don't exactly scream Ketterdam." You said. So Kaz was the only one unaware of your background. Maybe Inej was right, maybe he did need to actually be around you more.
"Why the sudden curiosity about me?" You asked.
"I gave you food, a bed, a job and yet I have no idea who you are. You should know, I do not like not knowing things that are crucial, so if you have anything else in your bag like another bloodthirsty sister, I'd appreciate it if you told me." He said.
"I have only one other sister and she wouldn't hurt a fly. Eloise is married, with two children. She married a good man. She used to write to me before... Hellgate." You explained.
"Mm. So I must ask. What made Pekka notice you?" Kaz asked. You sighed.
"You pick enough locks, people notice. You charm enough people, their tongues will wag your name eventually in conversation. I wasn't exactly offered a position, my sister found me because of my name being brought up. So she decided to fight dirty. She offered me up to Pekka. She tried to sell me to him." You said. Kaz felt disgusted by this statement. "When I managed to escape him multiple times, they got crafty. Cornered me, framed me and then put me in prison." You said.
"In Pekka's prison." Kaz muttered.
"Exactly. It gave him that control he wanted." You said.
"May I ask a question?" You asked. There it was. Now that it was pointed out, Kaz noticed your polite demeanor.
"Fine."
"How did you manage to break me out without someone looking for me afterwards?" You asked.
"Simple. We found a corspe that looked like you and put it on the rocks." Kaz said.
"But you hadn't met me yet, how did you know-"
"Dahlia showed us a picture." Kaz said.
"Mm." Was all you said.
Kaz noticed that face you made when Dahlia was mentioned. Regret and sadness. "Was Dahlia always like that?" He asked.
"No. Father's cruelty made her that way." You answered.
"Abusive?" Kaz asked.
"He wanted sons. He got three daughters." You said. Kaz grimaced.
"I've never understood the patriarchal bullshit the rich have come up with. Two of my finest crows are women for fuck's sake." Kaz sighed. You laughed, looking at him. He was confused by your reaction.
"Sorry-sorry. For someone who typically keeps his nose out of politics, I find it hilarious that you have such a strong opinion on that." You said. He shrugged.
"I just find it stupid." He said.
"It is stupid." You agreed with a small chuckle
"then we're in agreement, that it's stupid." He said.
When you finally got to the financial district, the afternoon had almost drifted into the evening. You followed Kaz through a small area, leading to a stone wall. He looked at it, clutching his cane. "Warner isn't home, she's at some harbor. Either way, you need to jump the fence and unlock it from the back so I can get in." He said. You nodded. "Now I can try to give you a boost-"
"no need." You said, already backing away from the wall.
You charged full speed at the wall, gaining a good footing before jumping over. You landed next to a sundial, seeing the various gardening tools poking out of a small wood shed nearby. The garden itself was beautiful and had you had the time and were by yourself, you absolutely would've explored more. However, you walked to the back entrance, unlocking it and motioning for Kaz to enter.
He walked with you as you shut the gate, motioning for him to lead the way. He approached a door and you kneeled to the lock. "Does she have any security measures?" You asked.
"None that the casers found." He answered, you nodding as you picked the lock. There was a soft click in a matter of seconds that surprised Kaz. He didn't think that he could even do it that fast.
You walked in, looking around at the home. It was nice, there was no doubt about it. White walls bordered with brown panelings aligned the wall, the sun creeping through the window. You walked. "So we're looking for what exactly?" You asked.
"Documents." He said, walking. You opened a door, revealing a bathroom. You closed it, walking to the foyet. It was a nice home, reminded you almost of the one you grew up in. However your father seemed to take to the color black than the warm red that this home had. This house felt like a home. That place would never be home to you.
You noticed a door, opening it. Or at least tried to open it. It was locked, and you had been doing this long enough to know that locked doors inside a locked house meant something was in that room. Something of value.
You knelt to the lock, picking it. You kept your hand on a dagger just in case something had gone unchecked. It was an empty office, much to your relief. "Kaz" you called. He walked over, nodding.
"This would be where they are." He said walking in. You followed behind, looking at the various shelves.
You saw many classics on the wall, some of which were in different languages. You were rather impressed with the collection. Kaz however, had a frown on his face as he rummaged through the drawers.
"Where the hell is this woman keeping it?" He asked.
"Keeping what?" You asked.
"There is money mixed with the documents. There's nothing here." He said.
"Money mixed with it? What are we looking for? Mortage payments? Taxes?"
"A dowry." He said.
You stared at him. "Kaz, why the hell are we looking for a dowry?" You asked.
"Because, multiple reasons. One, money." He said, still shuffling through the papers.
"And?"
"Two, sabotage." He said. You rose a brow. "Where would you hide a dowry?" He asked. You walked over to the desk, sitting at the chair. "Seriously? Do you need a break right now-"
You noticed a botton under the desk, pressing it and opening a secret compartment. He looked at you. "Sometimes you have to see it from their perspective." You shrugged getting up. Kaz opened the compartment, occasionally looking over his shoulder at you with slight bewilderment.
"Alright. It's here." He said.
"Why sabotage the marriage?" You asked.
"Tax reasons. This marriage goes through, she becomes a high ranked chair. Taxes go up, then it becomes harder to live." He said.
"Didn't take you as a tax evader." You said.
"I'm a criminal of many sorts." He said. You looked and noticed a letter.
You picked it up, reading it. Kaz counted the money to make sure she wasn't too clever, hiding it in several places. Instead it appeared she just stopped at a secret button, much to his relief. You had a frown on your face. "Let's go-"
"Kaz. This marriage is the least of our worries." You said. He looked up. You handed him the letter.
"...Shit."
"I know." You said.
It appears the clever little Alvia was prepared to execute her plan no matter if she married into the vote. Her plan was that if she didn't marry her, she'd have a friend go through with it instead, convincing this Killian fellow to vote for her spot.
You sighed. "What do we do?" You asked.
"It seems that it's a backed up plan. Taking this will do nothing." He said.
"Well it gives you money." You said.
"I can't believe this. How did we not know this?" He asked.
"She might know someone is on this path." You said.
He sighed, running a hand down his face. You had an idea come to mind. "We could sabotage the match." You said.
"Kill one of them?" He asked.
"No. Because if we kill him, that leaves the open seat." You said.
"So kill Alvia." He said.
"That leaves him to find someone else like her to be put in position." You said. Kaz sighed.
"And people wonder why I don't give two shits about politics. Kill them both!" He said.
"Leaves the seat open still and then we're back to square one unless you want a go at the seat." You said.
"I think I'd rather die." He said.
"Exactly. We throw a wrench in the plan." You said.
"How?" He asked.
"We give him another option." You said.
"...I'm still not understanding this." He said.
"You put a different girl in front of him. Look, I know these people, they're easily distracted by pretty shit, especially men. So put a pretty girl like say, me, in front of him and he's too distracted to get married to her. Once the vote of chairs goes through, he hasn't put the money on anyone noteworthy." You said. Kaz stared at you in awe.
"You just came up with this?" He asked.
"Again. Grew up in this. I know how to play the game." You said.
"No kidding." He said. You sighed.
"We need to leave before this woman comes back." You said.
"Agreed. Let's go." He said.
You both headed back, the sun slowly setting as you two walked. Kaz recalled a point on your list. "Hey, follow me for a moment." He said.
"Shortcut?" You asked.
"Something like that." He said. You followed him to a ladder, him tossing his cane up before going up. You were confused but followed him up.
You walked for a little bit before Kaz sat down. "Sit." He said. You obeyed, sitting next to him. The entire time you had been looking at Kaz, trying to figure out what he was doing. You chose to follow his gaze this time, looking at a beautiful sunset.
"Woah" you said surprised.
"I might have taken a look at the list." He admitted. You looked over at him.
"I thought it was time consuming?" You said confused.
"It is. But sometimes it's alright to take a moment to use that time." He said. You smiled slightly, turning back to the view.
"I owe you a lot you know." You said. He looked over.
"Quite a few people do." He said.
"I owe you my life." You said, not taking your eyes off the view.
"I wouldn't go that far-"
"You broke me out of Hellgate. Then when the job went wrong you took me in. You saved my life." You said looking at him.
"Why bring this up?" He asked.
"Because I want you to know that even though we don't know everything about each other, I still will trust you." You said. You sighed. "I don't expect you to trust me. I've heard your faith in others runs very thin. But if you ever need me, you need only to call on me." You said.
Kaz had heard someone pledge their undying loyalty to him before. People tend to be grateful when you give them food when their near the verge of starvation. However, this was the first time he believed in that loyalty. He didn't know how to respond to that. "You're right." He said, looking forward. "I don't trust easily." He said getting up.
Kaz, the entire walk back hadn't said anything else. You didn't know if you upset him or what but it was clear Kaz was in his head. Truth be told he realized what he had wasn't a damn crush at all. This wasn't going to just go away with time like the bit with Inej. He had fallen in love with you and that made him upset.
"Love is vulnerability" he told himself. "Love is a weakness." He hated that feeling. He wanted to yell at you, tell you off and say that you were an annoyance. But everytime he looked at you all he could think was that he could never say that to someone so pure of heart. Which was odd to him because he literally watched you beat a man to death with his cane. However that didn't seem to affect that purity in his mind.
You both entered the crow club, Kaz sighing and sitting at the bar. "Job go well?" Inej asked sitting next to him. You sat with Jesper at a table, slinging your legs over his. "It went... fine." He said. "You got that dowry you wanted, right?" She asked.
"Yes but it seems Alvia has a bigger plan." He said.
"What?"
Kaz explained the situation to Inej, her sighing. "Of fucking course the one job we take with a politician gets messy." She sighed.
"Precisely why I tried to tell Per Haskell to not fucking do it." He sighed.
"It was his idea?" Inej asked.
"Yes! Which I understand why, but I know he's going to go with Y/n's plan which will take up a ton of time!" He said frustrated. She blinked.
"Y/n has a plan?" Inej asked.
So you all sat at a table as you broke down the idea you had in the study. Kaz seemed to agree that the plan would definitely work, the only issue was that something seemed to irk him about it and Jesper could not figure out why. "Well there's just one issue with the plan." Inej said, sitting back.
"Yes?" You asked.
"Say we do it. It works, she's not in the chair, all is well in Ketterdam. What about Killian?" She asked.
"What about Killian?" Kaz asked, looking at her.
"We can't just have her be a distraction and then disappear, it'll be obvious what happened and people will come looking." Inej said.
"Shit." Kaz sighed.
"Well I thought about that actually." You said.
"Look at our girl being all smart over here." Jesper teased. You rolled your eyes but continued.
"A love triangle."
Inej rose a brow.
"What?" Kaz and Jesper asked.
"A love triangle. It's a good way to cut it off. Just have one of the guys do a fake proposal." You shrugged.
"Well we can't just send one in to randomly propose." Inej said. What was Inej doing?
"You'll have to just keep close to one of the guys at social engagements so it appears you're at least familiar with them." Inej said.
Kaz then realized what Inej was doing.
"Hm. That should do the trick to have it not lead back to us." Jesper agreed.
"I know, I'm a genius." You said, satisfied with the plan.
"Well boys, who should do it?" Inej asked, looking directly at Kaz.
"Jesper has the most chemistry with her." Kaz said. You and Jesper both cringed.
"Uhm... Jesper isn't-"
"We're definitely not-"
"No offense but... ew." You said.
"Offense slightly taken! I'm ew!?" Jesper asked. "No not visually! I just mean that it'd be like trying to romance my brother it's..." both you and Jesper shuddered.
"Yeah no, Kaz you're going to have to step up." Jesper agreed. Inej seemed satisfied with her input, a smug smirk on her lips.
"Fine." Kaz sighed.
"Then it's settled." You nodded.
"Yep." Kaz sighed.
"Well then, how about a round?" You asked.
"I can go for one." Jesper said.
"I feel in the spirit to drink as well." Inej said.
"Care to join us boss?" You asked Kaz. He sighed, looking at Inej and then you. He was going to have to spend a lot of time with you regardless. He was apparently now supposed to fake being in love with you. He had to get close to you and he had learned through Inej and Jesper that a good way to form a bond, was through drinking with them after a mission.
"I'll stay for one drink."

Delicate
{Mirrorball Part 2}
{Fandom: Grishaverse}
{Pairing: Kaz Brekker x fem! reader x Jesper Fahey}
Summary: After accidentally confessing her feelings for her best friend and her boss, Y/N chooses to get drunk rather than facing the consequences of her actions.
A/N: I wrote this instead of going to sleep, curtesy of ❣️anon because positive feedback is really the best motivation of all. Also “schat” is a nickname used in the story, it means darling or treasure in Dutch.

“Is it cool that I said all that?
Is it too soon to do this yet?
'Cause I know that it's delicate”

Jesper was never good at waiting. He never had the patience of sitting idly as the hands of the clock struck by absentmindedly.
Even now, as he sat on the sofa with Kaz and Matthias at the Slat, he couldn't help the constant tapping of his boot against the wooden floor.
Kaz released a long sigh, no doubt annoyed by Jesper, and craned his neck to look at the entrance of the Slat. His jaw ticked as there was still no sign of anyone entering.
"When did they say they will be back again?" Jesper asked Matthias, who was sitting on the lone chair opposite Kaz, a book in his hands.
"They didn't," Matthias said, without looking up from his book.
Jesper vaguely remembered Y/N gifting it to Matthias for his birthday. None of the crows had known Matthias's birthday, except Y/N.
She had organized a surprise dinner for him, baked him a cake and gotten him a gift. Matthias had been nearly brought to tears as he hugged her and thanked her profusely.
And all Y/N did was smile. That damned smile. Jesper thinks his heart might have stopped the day she first gave him that smile.
Y/N was his best friend, just as Kaz was, even if he refused to admit it. And Jesper, curse his bad luck, had fallen in love with them both.
And now there might be a chance they might love him back, considering Y/N's confession last night but he couldn't know for sure because after stealing his heart and his breath, Y/N had proceeded to run up to her room as if hounds were chasing her.
And then she had avoided both Kaz and him the next day, going as far as to go drinking with Nina, just to avoid facing the aftermath of her confession.
And now Jesper was waiting, something that he absolutely loathed, just so he could see her again. Just so he could tell her everything that he had been keeping to himself.
Jesper risked a glance at Kaz, and to his surprise, Kaz was already looking at him. Jesper’s heart thrummed erratically in his chest, matching the pace of his foot tapping on the floor.
Kaz’s cane rested against his calf, stopping his movements, the weight was a surprise but not unwelcome. It was Kaz’s way of grounding Jesper in the present.
“Calm down, she will be back soon” Kaz mumbled low enough so only Jesper could hear him.
Loud, obnoxious laughter filled the Slat as Nina and Y/N drunkenly stumbled in. Jesper, Kaz and Matthias stood up immediately as the two girls nearly knocked into a table as they made their way towards them.
Y/N’s feet were barefoot and Nina seemed to be carrying the boots that she had been previously wearing.
Y/N’s eyes widened as she caught sight of Jesper and Kaz and she rushed towards them, stopping in front of Jesper, “There’s my boys!”
Jeaper could only watch in amusement as Y/N wrapped her arms around his neck, “I missed you, Jesper”
“I missed you too, love” Jesper chuckled, wrapping an arm around her waist, he pulled back a little and looked down at her, brushing some hair out of her face, “Let’s get you to bed, yeah? I think you’ve had too much fun without me”
But Y/N wasn’t listening to him anymore, her eyes had connected with Kaz’s over Jesper’s shoulder and she was too busy staring at him.
“I missed you too, Kaz” Y/N said, lips pulled into a pout as she carelessly reached a hand out before abruptly pulling it back. The pout was ever present as Y/N put her head on Jesper’s shoulder, eyes still on Kaz.
Jesper didn’t have to turn around to see that Kaz had grown tense, the air had started to thicken with something that always fizzled between them when they were all together.
Jesper didn’t even notice Matthias lead a drunk Nina out of the room as he picked up Y/N and made a beeline for the stairs, stopping only to hear the clacking of Kaz’s cane behind him as he stopped outside Y/N’s door.
He waited for Kaz to open the door and gently put Y/N on the bed. He took a seat beside her, taking off her jacket and fixing her shirt before tucking a blanket around her.
Jesper could feel Kaz’s heated gaze on them as he ran a hand through Y/N’s hair, calming her down slightly. Y/N groaned, rubbing a hand down her face.
"Why did you drink so much, Y/N?" Jesper whispered, Y/N’s head leaning on his shoulder as she snuggled into his side.
Kaz stood at Y/N’s desk, pretending to overlook something to avoid looking at Jesper and Y/N. It made his skin itch to see them together, to not….to not be with them.
Kaz knew what they both wanted, who they wanted. But could he really be that person? What could he give them that they couldn’t give each other? He would just be an unwelcome addition to what they were. Never fully there.
Even if he wanted to be.
"Because you both hate me now" Y/N mumbled, her voice heartbreakingly small, she fiddled with the buttons on Jesper’s waistcoat, "And so I had to get over you"
"And did you?" Kaz didn’t mean for his voice to come out as cold as it did but the warning glare from Jesper was enough to let him know his frustrations towards his own shortcomings had seeped into his tone.
"No" Y/N mumbled, gone was the joyous phase of her drunkness, replaced by melancholy shining in her eyes. She hiccuped, meeting Kaz’s eyes, "I like you both too much, it's a problem"
"Oh, Y/N,” Jesper’s heart broke at the words, he stroked her hair and pressed a kiss to her temple.
"It's not fair, I love you but you don't love me,” Tears welled up in Y/N's eyes but she refused to let them fall. She was a crow, damnit! She wasn’t going to let her feelings ruin her friendships.
She had fought too hard to get where she was, and even if her feelings were unrequited, she would not lose her family, the crows, over it.
But was it truly so terrible? To love someone and to be loved in return?
"And who told you that, Y/N?"
Y/N tilted her head, eyebrows furrowed in thought. Kaz took a step forward and sat on the edge of her bed, one hand gripping his cane and the other stretched on the bed, centimetres from Y/N's.
"Who told you that I don't hold any affection for you" Kaz’s rasp filled the silence of the room, his words heavy with unsaid words and unspoken confessions. His gaze flittered to Jeaper who was watching them with bated breath, "Either of you"
"Do you?" Jesper asked, he was terrified to hope that Kaz would reciprocate his feeling. Their feelings. Because hope was dangerous but hope was all he had.
"I wouldn't be here if I didn't"
And truly, what more could Kaz say? Here he was, despite knowing better, despite his instincts telling him to turn around and walk away, even if it hurts, here he stood.
Exposed for them to pick at as they liked, just because he could not bare to see the hurt in Jesper’s eyes or the disappointment on Y/N’s face.
"Oh" Y/N mumbled, eyes switching between Jeaper and Kaz before a small smile graced her lips and she settled back in her pillows, still snuggled in Jesper’s side.
"Yes, oh,” Kaz rolled his eyes but the fondness was clear as day as he tapped her blanket, just above her knee, with his gloved hand, "Now go to sleep"
"Will you both stay? Just until I fall asleep"
"Of course, love"
“If I must”
“I want you to, Kaz”
“Then I will stay. Now go to sleep, Y/N”
Tumblr media
Despite going to bed at Saints knows what time, Y/N woke up early as she usually did. She begrudgingly got out of bed, and even as her head hurt and nausea crawled up her throat, she made her way to the kitchen, a blue shawl wrapped around her shoulders for warmth.
"Good morning, love" Jesper greeted cheerfully as Y/N slumped down on the chair beside him, "How are you feeling?"
Y/N let out a yawn and mumbled something that sounded unintelligible even to her own ears. Her sleep-lidded eyes closed as Y/N placed her head on the kitchen counter, the cool stone caressing her cheek pleasantly.
"What was that?"
"Only goats can understand that, Y/N" Kaz’s voice was softer than usual in the mornings and Y/N’s own heart hummed with joy at hearing it.
Mornings with Kaz and Jesper were sacred to Y/N, even before last night. They were the only ones awake at this hour, and she had a suspicion they had all adjusted their sleep patterns to wake up early just to have these first rays of the morning sun to themselves.
This moment in time existed for them alone; when Kaz’s cold exterior was chipped away to reveal a slightly less concrete armour and Jesper’s face relaxed in an easy smile, his presence filling the room with warmth.
This moment was hers. They were hers.
"I will get back to you with an answer within 5-7 business days, Jes" Y/N lifted her head, placing it on her palm and answered the boy sitting beside her.
She turned her gaze to meet bitter coffee-brown eyes staring at her, "Oh and screw you, Kaz"
"We aren't there yet, schat" Kaz’s lips pulled up in a slight smirk as he took a sip of his black coffee, which Y/N was sure contained more than 3 spoonfuls of sugar.
Who was he trying to fool with that black coffee? She had no idea.
Jesper choked on his food and Y/N patted his back, stealing a piece of toast off his plate with her other hand. Her head throbbed with the hangover that she was currently nursing.
Y/N turned her gaze away from a wide-eyed Jesper to a smug Kaz, her eyes narrowed in mock irritation, "I hate you"
"That's not what you said last night"
"Saints Kaz!" Y/N exclaimed, her eyes wide with incredulity as she hid her blushing face in her hands, "Why are you doing this today?"
"Because you have a hangover, Y/N" Jesper chuckled, pushing a plate of toast towards her and passing her the cup of coffee that Kaz had poured, just as she liked it.
“He is being mean today”
"He’s mean every day"
"What was that, Jes?”
"Nothing"
“That’s what I thought”

I think I might have fallen in love- realization fics! Fics with this prompt can be the realization of anything--a characters imminent death, the moment wherein someone realizes they've been betrayed, or they can be super fluffy and detail the moment a character realizes they're in love, the moment where they realize they can see a future with the reader--perhaps one that entails settling down or one that involves leaving the past behind--, the moment where they realize that they want to marry them! Anything goes with this prompt, and I'll write 1-5k words using it!
ooooh okay, what about kaz x reader. and it's him realizing that he can see the rest of his life with r. i feel like that'd be such a huge moment for him, cause it was one think to admit he loves them but to actually see a life with them? like doing the domestic things, ya know?
He Knows- K.B x gn! reader
First off, I am SO SORRY that this took eight days! I've been studying to get my learners permit and before then was writing out requests on my sideblog so it's just been a lot to juggle with everything else lol, but thank you for sending this and all of your other requests in! This one was very fun, I absolutely adore a good realization fic and writing for Kaz was good after I'd not written for him in a bit!
Fic type- this is super fluffy!
Warnings- one mention of his trauma (he mentions not wanting to go to his childhood home in Lij because it still hurts to think about)
Tumblr media
On the first day of October, Kaz Brekker is approaching the Slat and thinking about the next big job, the next big thing, when another thought suddenly occurs to him.
The thought is that he should grab you some tea at the cafe that recently replaced one of the nearby brothels. He lets the thought backtrack his feet about sixty steps, lets it allow his mouth to speak the words necessary to order you your fall-time tea of preference.
As he carries it back to the Slat, he can almost hear Ninas joyous snicker, almost see confusion in Matthias' gaze and see the smiles Inej, Jesper and Wylan are wearing.
He can hear Nina saying "you didn't peg me as a tea person, Brekker," when she notices the string and the tag which reads the cafes name attached to it.
The idea makes him scoff as he enters the Slat, eyes scanning the ever-constant crowd on the bottom floor in the hopes he'll meet your gaze somewhere within the mess of it.
When he does finally see you, you're not the first person he spots. The one who catches his attention is Jesper, wearing a bright but still burnt orange suit with nice looking navy blue accents, and he follows Jespers eyeline to where he spots you in the crowd of Dregs that has gathered on the bottom floor.
Jespers eyes are on you and Kaz watches as Jesper watches you approach the table with a mug of black coffee in hand. Kaz watches as Jesper notices Inej--who sits to his left in the table for six, Nina on his right--look at you skeptically as you slide into the spot beside Wylan.
Matthias is standing, unsurprisingly, though his arms are wrapped around Ninas shoulder in a hug from behind, and her head is tilted back so that her hair is touching his cheek. The two of them, as infuriating as Kaz finds it to be for a split second, look so happy.
Kaz approaches, takes the remaining seat at the table. You grin, slide the coffee his way. He slides you the tea he'd ordered.
"I love you for this," you say, grinning slightly. "Thank you, Kaz."
Kaz grins into his coffee, shrugs it off. "It was on the way," he says, and he knows that you know that, but he also knows that you won't know he purposefully backtracked sixty steps to get it for you. He knows that he does not want you to know that, so he says nothing of it.
You laugh, and Kaz's heart jumps in the way he's become accustomed to it doing so.
You'd been dating since the year before the Ice Court. It had been three years since. You had exchanged 'I love you's for the first time two years ago.
"I'd bet money he was zoning out while he walked," Nina says, and Kaz has to grip his cane like it's a lifeline to keep himself from spitting out his coffee while he's in the middle of sipping it. "Then he remembered 'oh, I've got a partner who likes tea' and so he walked back. Bet you it was as he was putting his hand on the doorknob."
"I'd take that bet," Kaz says, partly because he know she's wrong. "But it wasn't as my hand was touching the doorknob. It was a good six-ish minutes beforehand. Ordering the tea and receiving it took four."
Nina smiles at him. "Some days, the things you do for your beloved make up for your terrible haircut," she says. "Your next drink is on me, Brekker."
Kaz shrugs--a free drink is a free drink--and glances at you for a moment.
"Sixty paces?" you ask.
"Yeah," Kaz said. "Tacked on a solid few minutes, but I know you love the tea they make at Baileys."
"You got up to grab his coffee about six off," Wylan says. "Oh, that's so sweet! Your couple brains are couple-braining. You're sensing when the other is close by."
"It was ten bloody minutes!" Kaz says, a little incredulous. You laugh at him for a minute.
"Ten minutes," you say. "Six of which you spent walking back."
Kaz looks at you and you just grin, turning to Wylan before you take a sip of your tea.
"Either way," you say after you've downed the first sip and the warmth has surpassed your throat and settled within your stomach. "You can't judge me. You looked like Jesper had given you the entire world when he came into the Slat the other day."
Wylan scowls playfully at you, and Kaz looks at you and it just--something within him stirs. Something domestic, a part of him that yearns to come home to you every night, something that wants to relish in weekends off and hum along to the music playing from a gramophone while folding the laundry.
He shuts it out, rests his cane against the side of your chair in a manner that says 'I love you' without actually saying a damn thing at all.
-
That something stirs within him once more as he finds himself in the Kerch countryside. He hasn't brought you to Lij--twelve years gone and still, the very thought of visiting his childhood home hurts just a bit too much for him to risk it--but instead to a cute farmhouse that he'd bought in anticipation of retiring seventy years on, when he was ninety and still kickin' because he was Kaz Brekker and he would live to see 100 just to spite the people he disliked.
It is the first weekend of October and it has been a year since the last. You're in the kitchen and the only reason that Kaz is awake is because he smells coffee, wafting in from the pot as the water churns and the coffee falls into it.
He smells pumpkin, too, and knows what you've been doing without even having to think of it.
You have a very specific but very delicious recipe for pumpkin pancakes that you always make during the fall, and they stand as one of the only iterations of pumpkin-flavoured food and drink that Kaz can say he enjoys.
They're pumpkin pancakes made with a fairly basic recipe plus the addition of half a cup of brewed chai. You also tend to pair them with whipped cinnamon butter, and that morning it does not seem to be any different.
"Morning," Kaz greets as you grab two mugs from the cupboard.
In a manner that borderlines on reflexive despite Kaz's never having done so in that house, Kaz takes your electric kettle off of it's port, flips the top open and fills it with water. He sets it back on the port and clicks the small metal flap at the bottom end of the handle. He watches the port go from gray to blue to signify that the water has started heating, thanks to a mechanism that reacts to warmth.
"Morning," you respond as Kaz takes the mug he deems yours--the one shaped like a cauldron, while his is shaped like a ghost--and grabs a bag of your favorite tea, plopping it into the mug.
The two of you run through the motions quietly but contentedly even still--Kaz makes your tea, you make his coffee, Kaz gets the plates and you plate breakfast. You each grab your own utensils and sit down at the small black circular table that sits in your dining room.
Kaz, with a start, realizes he doesn't really know what to talk about. There is nothing, particularly, that currently plagues his mind. He loves the silence, though, and decides it best to allow it to remain uninterrupted.
Twenty minutes go by. Kaz thanks you for waking up and making the food--in Ketterdam, especially the Barrel, having a kitchen, having cups and plates to occupy the cupboards, utensils and baking tools to occupy the drawers and food to occupy the fridge and the pantry is a luxury. You like baking but what was the kitchen in the Slat was turned into the bar--and tells you he appreciates it.
You grin at him then, and Kaz knows that he will never escape the feeling that you are more than he will ever deserve.
That thing stirs within him again hours later, when lunch and dinner have both passed you by. It stirs when you've eaten your way through half of the pie brought to your doorstep by an old lady who'd claimed she had baked too much, the rest of it stored in the fridge for later consumption.
It is the innate feeling that Kaz cannot yet name that has him setting up the drying rack, grabbing the nearest dishtowel as his ears focus in on the sound of you humming along to the music, the music that plays softly from the gramophone as it filters into the kitchen from the lounge.
The ceramic ghost mug that you'd bought on your first day of the trip while you were in a town twenty minutes out from the farmhouse sits a couple of inches in front of Kaz, half full of chamomile tea because he does, in fact, aim to sleep through the night.
Candles have also been lit because the idea of turning the oil lamps on after sunset feels wrong, and Kaz looks at you and it all just hits him.
He's twenty-one, and he has been dating you since he was sixteen when it all just hits.
He looks at you, sees your face in the din as you dry off your hands and turn off the tap water, and suddenly he just knows.
Kaz Brekker knows that you are more than he will ever, ever deserve. He knows that he will someday propose to you and he will someday marry you, and perhaps he will retire when you do--likely around the age of 70, where retiring at ninety was his plan--and perhaps he will suggest long before you retire that you make the trips to this farmhouse a yearly thing.
He knows that he will have countless thoughts to get you tea when he's passed Baileys Cafe and he knows that he will walk back sixty paces to Baileys to get it countless times.
He knows that he will dry the dishes while you wash them, that he will find himself half awake in the heat of the Ketterdam summer, that he will get out of bed and pull the curtains back before trudging to bed again while still half asleep, just to feel himself awaken as he registers how easily enamoured he becomes with the way the sunlight cascades across you.
He knows he will come home many-a-night and he will fold the laundry with you, the two of you idly humming along to whichever record you've chosen to play on the gramophone, that your arm will bump Kaz's by accident and send the both of you into laughter.
He knows that he will experience the joy of getting to buy groceries with you, and he finds he can't wait to argue with you over the silliest things--a bag of six apples for one kruge is not the bargain deal you think it is. He knows that you'll remind him that getting two sets of the same coffee brand is not a smart financial move when the discount adds up to a grand total of one and a quarters kruge--and that one of you will laugh and the argument will break apart as though it does not exist.
"Kaz?" Someday, he will marry you. He will kiss your cheekbone in greeting and goodbye, and his soul will forever be entwined with yours.
Someday, he will have proof that the love he feels for you is not a weakness like so many Barrel thugs seem to think.
"Yeah?" Kaz asks, snapping out of his stupor.
You grin. "You okay? Lost you for a second there--you looked zoned out."
"Nothing serious," Kaz says. "Just uh--can't wait for the rest of the trip, is all. Could use a bit of rest if I'm completely honest."
You nod. "Me too,"
So then, dishes done and not a worry left in the world, the two of you blow out the candles you've lit. You go to bed a little earlier than normal, and Kaz knows that he will go to bed at your side for the rest of his days.

Wylan looked over at Jesper, bottom lip jutted out as he pleaded with him. “Please, Jes? Just for ten minutes, and then we can get back together.”
Jesper raised an eyebrow. “Let me get this straight. You want me to pretend to break up with you so you can belt Taylor Swift in the shower?”
“Yes,” responded Wylan. Jesper sighed.
“Fine. Just let me get into character. If i’m doing this, I'm going all the way.” He took a deep breath, channeling some buried rage from deep inside his chest, and then he turned towards Wylan. “I can’t believe you! We’re over!” he shouted, and Wylan smiled before turning his grin into a frown.
“What do you mean?” he asked, breath shaky. “Are you really breaking up with me?”
Jesper took a deep breath. “Yes. Now go. I don’t want to see you anymore.” He turned away, listening as Wylan stormed off toward the bathroom.
Satisfied with his work, Jesper walked downstairs, humming to himself. He settled onto the couch and waited one, two, three seconds before the water above him turned on and the speaker started blasting. Wylans melodic voice drifted down, the lyrics filling the room.
“Jesper! What the hell did you do to Wylan?” A voice yelled from the hall, and he turned as Nina stormed into the room. “I swear to the Saints if you broke his heart-”
“Nina! Relax.” Jesper said, kicking his feet up on the table in front of him. “He asked me to break up with him so he could sing the song.”
Nina stood there for a moment, thinking. “Huh. Smart.” she said finally, falling down next to him. “We should do that, Matthias.”
From the hall, Matthias huffed. “I do not get why you cannot just sing it without all the dramatics.” he said as he walked in. “What is the point of breaking up?”
“Oh, Matty.” Jesper patted the empty spot next to him, the one not taken by Nina. “It has to be authentic. You can’t just simply sing it. It has to feel real.”
“I do not understand you people.” Matthias grumbled, sitting on the couch. “Do we just wait until he’s done?”
Nodding, Jesper smiled. “Man. I can’t wait until he’s my boyfriend again. His voice is so pretty.”
A thin figure dressed in all black slid through the window opposite the couch. “Why is Wylan singing All Too Well?” Inej asked, lowering her hood. “Did Jesper fake break up with him?”
“He’s wasting water.” said another voice, this time from one of the many doors that led out of the room. “Tell him to get a more efficient place to wallow.”
“You don’t even pay for this place, Kaz.” Jesper rolled his eyes. “He does. And he is free to spend his asshole fathers money for anything he likes.” He turned back toward Inej. “And yes. That is exactly what happened. It’s so cute, don’t you think?”
Matthias laughed. “I think you are both crazy.” he remarked, and Nina chucked a pillow at him.
“Let them live out their teen angst, Matthias!”
Suddenly, the shower stopped, and the final notes of the song came to a close. Everyone fell silent.
“What happens now?” Inej asked.
Jesper shrugged. “We get back together I guess.” he responded, turning his eyes to the stairs.
It took about a minute for Wylan to come trudging down them, hair wet and dressed in an oversized shirt and sweatpants. “Jes?” he called quietly, peeking his head into the room.
“Hello, Wylan.” Jesper responded, trying and failing to act serious. He could barely contain the smile on his face.
Wylan blushed a deep crimson. “Jesper Fahey. I’d like to get back together, please.” he stated, crossing his arms over his chest.
Jesper grinned so wide his cheeks hurt, rushing toward Wylan as quick as his feet could carry him. He picked him up in a large hug, holding his cold and wet body close. “Of course, Merchling. I love you.”
Wylan smiled into his chest. “I love you too, Jesper. I never want to be apart from you again. Not even for ten minutes.”
From behind them, Kaz spoke. “Idiots,” he muttered. But Jesper could tell he was smiling too.

chloe at all-stars before the fic
- her number is 11 (hehe)
- she is obviously her brothers celebrity captain
- when they’re all coming out she’s got a pep in her step as dave announces her team, “and so not only is this the first time having two brothers be co-captains but also their celebrity coach is their sister, award winning singer and songwriter, chloe hughes!”
- a lot of her fans are there and cheering her on as well, “hi everyone!”
- jack and quinn are talking and she leans over to them, “you do realize everyone can hear you right now?”
- this is going on while tate is making their pick and all you can hear is her laughing at her best friend
- before they pick nikita, chloe has some words to say, “for the record i think our team should’ve been team petey featuring the hughes’ but that’s just me.”
- quinn slapped her arm, “what? petey’s left out”
- she obviously makes the first pick, “anyways with our first pick of the evening, we are going with, from the tampa bay lightning, nikita kucherov!”
- I think she was more excited about getting all of quinn’s teammates then either jack and quinn
- during their second/third pick, chloe grins at her older brother, “are you playing d or center, quinny?”
- “we proudly select, no offense to any of the goalies here, but my favorite goaltender of all time, thatcher demko!”
- all the canucks players and jesper give her a hug when they go up
- “team pettersson feat. the hughes siblings needs 10 more minutes, please.”
- “chloe what seems to be the issue over here? are you guys arguing?”
- “yeah it’s like I’m at home. no um, there’s too many good hockey players and all three of these guys up here know I know my hockey stuff so they’re letting me have a say.”
- she loves all of her brothers teammates so she’s so glad she was able to get them drafted to her team
- jesper is one of her favorites from the devils so she’s all giddy when she gets to see him
- she lets petey get brock and then is sad when they have to send him back, “brock this wasn’t my idea okay, I would’ve picked you a lot earlier if I could”
- she gives him heart hands as he skates away
- when they can pick again she pushes the three out of the way, “from the vancouver canucks, i am very proud to select brock boeser!”
- when brock comes back he takes chloe’s mic and looks at quinn, “at least chloe stood up for me”
- the arena is finding the hughes banter funny and the girlies at home are eating her and the players interactions up
- when tate picks elias, chloe looks over at her, “you ruined my plan!”
- “hey he was on my team first!”
- “chloe how are you feeling about your guys’ team”
- “oh we’re in heaven right now. i’ve got my brothers, i’ve got my canucks, and not to mention all of the other great guys on this team. oh yeah, we know who we’re picking! who wants to- petey you do it.”
- jack’s interview is so sweet, “um drafting a team with my brother and my sister is pretty unreal, I mean I was really surprised when not only she said she was going to be here but um then we found out she was gonna be on our team, it was pretty cool. and it was nice to draft with her especially since she’s got that hockey knowledge so yeah. i love her and yeah it was just pretty cool to be there with the two of them”
- he slung an arm around her shoulder and pulled her into his side
- quinns interview was the same, obviously having to mention her as well, “like jack said, it’s pretty cool being up here with, chlo and um it’s not every day that we get to see each other.”
- after that she snuck off to stand with tate as they did their joint interview
- “I noticed you guys are pretty close, we heard you two talking and saw you guys waving to each other”
- tate: “yeah we met- oh I don’t even remember when we met it was so long ago. I think she had come out to record something with me and yeah. she’s one of my best friends and I’m glad I wasn’t the only girl up here tonight”
- chloe: “like tate said, she’s one of my best friends and sorry I’m gonna take a moment to brag about her” she looked over at the other four, specifically frank cuz she knew him, “sorry guys! she’s amazing, her songs and everything. I don’t think I regret going out to see her”
- when frank pulls out the card with her face she almost screams, but controls it a little, “frankie!!”
- they know each other because of trevor so obviously they hug when he makes his way over there
- at the end they talk to her again, “so how do you feel being up here and drafting a team with your brothers?”
- chloe gets so emotional, “it’s really really cool. I love them so much and since they started in the nhl and I started my music I don’t get to see them much so being here is amazing for me. a lot of people don’t know that I’m their sister and know a lot about hockey so it’s nice when we get to show them that. they’re amazing hockey players, lukey too. oh I wish lukey was here, we miss you luke! anyways it’s so great to see how far they’ve come in the past years, I’m really proud of them”
- “how are you feeling about this team?”
- “oh I love my team, are you kidding? with frank here now, I almost feel like I just started a group chat and texted all of them asking if they wanted to come play hockey with me.”
- “what do you love about this team?”
- “I love that it looks scarily similar to my fantasy hockey team… just kidding my fantasy hockey team has pasta, and connor, and bedsy, and oh sorry am I bragging? just kidding I just love the fact that it looks like a winning team. like look at these guys”
- she joins the two for a couple of interviews and then the three of them go out for dinner
- when they are playing, she’s in the bench cheering them on ofc, taking pictures with all of the guys
- she takes a picture of her and frank and sends it to trevor
- she performs at intermission with tate
- they perform exes, greedy, and all-american bitch (no swearing of course)
- trevor watches the game just to see her perform :)

Helmets
(platonic crows x reader and Kaz x reader)
Summary: Everyone needs a friend with a bike, am I right? Modern AU.
Warnings: Uh nothing really, stealing, fooling cops. I think at some point it gets repetitive, but I tried.
Note: This is very much a Modern AU, never written one before so let me know what you think. Please!
Kaz Brekker's heart pounded as he darted through the darkened streets, clutching the stolen jewelry close to his chest. He knew the police were hot on his trail, and he needed to find a safe haven quickly. Seeking refuge in an alley, he hoped it would remain a hidden spot, unseen by the pursuing law enforcement.
Just as he caught his breath, a familiar rumble echoed through the narrow passage. Looking up, Kaz's eyes met those of y/n, a skilled motorcyclist and a trusted friend, who had witnessed his daring heist unfold. They had always shared a unique bond, despite y/n's non-involvement with Kaz's gang. Y/n pulled up alongside him, donning a helmet and extending another to him.
"Quick, Kaz! Hop on!" y/n urged, voice filled with urgency. Kaz didn't waste a second, gripping the helmet and securing it on his head before leaping onto the back of the motorcycle.
As they raced through the labyrinthine streets, weaving through traffic, y/n's driving prowess kept them one step ahead of the cops. However, as they approached the vicinity of the Crow Club, y/n noticed a roadblock forming ahead. Cops were halting traffic, scrutinizing every vehicle passing by, searching for Kaz.
Remaining composed, y/n glanced at Kaz and calmly instructed, "Trust me, Kaz. I've got a plan." When their turn came to face the inquisitive officers, y/n answered their questions with an air of nonchalance, providing plausible explanations for their presence in the area. But when asked about Kaz's whereabouts, y/n slyly pointed in the wrong direction.
"Don’t want to be known as a snitch but I saw him running that way," y/n gestured, intentionally leading the police astray. The officers bought the misdirection, hastily leaving to chase shadows. As soon as they were gone, y/n burst into laughter, reveling in the absurdity of the situation.
"Those cops can be so easily fooled," y/n exclaimed, shaking her head. With a mischievous smile, she revved the motorcycle's engine and steered them back toward the safety of the Slat.
Throughout the exhilarating ride, y/n and Kaz shared a mix of relief and amusement, their friendship strengthened by yet another escapade. They knew that no matter the circumstances, they could rely on each other, even in the face of danger.
And so, together, they disappeared into the night, leaving the authorities chasing shadows while the Crow Club awaited their return.
As y/n and Kaz arrived back at the Crow Club, Jesper emerged from the shadows, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Well, well, look who it is!" he exclaimed, playfully nudging y/n's arm. "Going on secret motorcycle rides without me, huh?"
Y/n chuckled and wrapped Jesper in a warm hug. "You know you just have to ask, Jes," she replied, giving him a light squeeze. "Shoot me a text, and I'll pick you up anytime, hun." Their friendship had always been full of banter and lighthearted teasing, but the bond between them was unbreakable.
Jesper pretended to pout, mockingly placing a hand over his heart. "I've been waiting for my invitation, you know. I'm starting to feel left out."
Y/n laughed, their eyes sparkling. "Consider this your official invitation then," they said with a wink. "We'll take the scenic route, but don't blame me if your heart races faster than the bike."
Jesper's expression shifted from playful to contemplative. "You know, I should really learn how to ride a bike," he mumbled, thinking out loud. "But then again, Wylan would probably have a heart attack if I ever brought one home."
As Jesper continued his light-hearted ramblings, y/n's attention turned to the bar, where Kaz stood, contemplating their return. Knowing Kaz's usual demeanor, y/n sidled up to the counter and leaned in, a mischievous glint in their eyes.
"Hey, Kaz," y/n called, a playful tone in their voice. "I think it's time you showed some gratitude. After all, I just saved your ass again."
Kaz's expression flickered between annoyance and begrudging appreciation. With a reluctant sigh, he relented. "Fine," he muttered, conceding defeat. He crossed over to the bar, preparing to fetch y/n their well-deserved drink. “But just one. Drinking and driving-“
“No bueno, I know.” Y/n leaned against the counter as Kaz handed y/n her free drink, a begrudging smile tugged at the corner of his lips. In this twisted little family they called their own, y/n's actions had earned their place as a trusted friend and ally—a position not easily granted, but one that was held dear.
As y/n savored their free drink, Kaz silently joined them at the bar, nursing his own drink. They shared a comfortable silence for a moment, appreciating the respite from the chaos that often engulfed their lives.
Breaking the silence, Kaz spoke, his voice low but filled with genuine admiration. "You know, at this point you should just become a crow." he suggested, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
Y/n let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. "Oh, Kaz, you know me. I like to dance to my own tune," she replied, her eyes glimmering with a sense of independence. The allure of the solitary path held a certain charm for y/n, even though she was always ready to lend a hand when needed.
Their conversation flowed effortlessly into the night, the words weaving between stolen treasures, daring heists, and the intricacies of their shared world. They discussed Kaz's latest acquisition, carefully skirting around details, knowing the importance of secrecy.
After a while, y/n rose from her seat, preparing to bid her friends farewell and head home. But before she could make her exit, Kaz's voice stopped her in her tracks.
"Wait, y/n," Kaz said, his tone a touch more vulnerable than usual. "Come up to my office for a moment, if you don't mind."
Curiosity piqued, y/n agreed, following Kaz up to his private sanctuary. As they settled into his office, surrounded by the relics of his brilliance, Kaz spoke, his words laced with a rare gratitude.
"I want to thank you, truly," Kaz began, his gaze steady and sincere. "For saving me, for always having my back, even when you don't have to. You've proven time and again that you're more than a friend; you're an invaluable asset."
Y/n's heart warmed at the rare display of vulnerability from the usually guarded Kaz. She nodded, understanding the weight of his gratitude. "You know I'll always be there when you need me, Kaz," y/n replied softly, appreciating the unspoken bond they shared.
They chatted a while longer, delving into the shadows of their respective endeavors, until finally, y/n bid Kaz goodnight.
As y/n descended the stairs of the Crow Club, her gaze fell upon Jesper, who was engrossed in a game of chance, gambling away what little money he had left. Determined to put a stop to his behavior, y/n called out loudly, "Pretty boy! Let's go for a ride."
Jesper's eyes lit up, and he immediately abandoned the table, leaving the game behind without a second thought. Outside, y/n handed him the helmet that had previously graced Kaz's head. As y/n adjusted her own helmet, Nina appeared, a vibrant presence in the night.
"Hey, you two!" Nina greeted them warmly, a mischievous glint in her eyes. But as her gaze fell upon Jesper donning the helmet, a playful grin stretched across her face. "Finally! You can now shut up about how you've never been invited to ride with y/n."
Y/n shared a knowing smile with Nina, fully aware of Jesper's incessant longing for a motorcycle adventure. With everything ready, y/n revved the engine, ready to conquer the streets once more.
The ride that followed was filled with adrenaline and exhilaration, as y/n took Jesper on a journey more intense than any of the other crows had experienced before. The wind whipped through their hair, the thrill of speed mingling with the laughter that escaped their lips.
Once the ride reached its end, y/n took Jesper back to his home. As they pulled up, Wylan stood at the doorway, his eyes widening in a mix of concern and disbelief at the sight of Jesper removing the helmet.
Wylan's voice trembled slightly as he spoke, a mixture of relief and worry evident in his words. "Jesper, are you trying to give me a heart attack? Please tell me you haven't fully embraced the world of motorcycles!"
Jesper grinned sheepishly, his eyes shining with mischief. "Not fully, Wylan," he replied, wrapping an arm around y/n's shoulder. "But I can't resist the thrill of the ride, especially when y/n is the one behind the handlebars."
As they bid their farewells and Jesper disappeared into the safety of his home, y/n couldn't help but smile. Her adventures with the Crows, the rush of the night, and the bonds they shared were the stuff of legends.
As y/n's thoughts wandered on her journey home, an idea began to form in her mind. It had been a long time since she had genuinely cared for and appreciated friends like Kaz, Jesper, and the rest of the Crows. With that in mind, y/n decided to make one final stop before calling it a night—a visit to the local bike shop.
As y/n stepped into the shop, the familiar face of Phil greeted them warmly. Over time, Phil had become acquainted with y/n, thanks to her frequent visits. Curiosity gleaming in his eyes, Phil asked, "Hey there, what brings you in today? Looking for something specific?"
Y/n smirked and replied, "Just planning to buy a couple of helmets." They shared a laugh as Phil accompanied her to the helmet section, his curiosity piqued. "Did you break your helmet again? What are you even doing with them anymore?" he inquired, amused by y/n's ever-present need for helmets.
Chuckling, y/n shook her head. "No, not this time. I actually have a few friends who tag along on my adventures quite often," she explained. "Figured it's about time they had their own helmets for safety."
Together, y/n and Phil sifted through the collection, searching for helmets that would hopefully fit their respective owners' heads. After selecting six suitable helmets, y/n paid for her purchase, bidding Phil farewell.
As y/n made her way back home, carrying the helmets, she couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth in their heart. The thought of equipping their friends with safety gear symbolized a deeper bond—a recognition of the value these relationships held in her life.
Excitement and anticipation filled y/n's thoughts as they envisioned the reactions of their friends upon receiving the helmets. It was a small gesture, but one that spoke volumes about the care and appreciation y/n had for the Crows.
The next morning, y/n arrived at the Crow Club, eager to reunite with her chosen family. With bags filled with helmets slung around their arms, y/n stood outside the closed club, waiting for someone to open the door. The weight of the bags had made her ride a bit of a challenge, but the anticipation fueled her determination.
As the door swung open, revealing Inej, y/n couldn't contain their excitement. It had been weeks since they last saw each other, and their reunion was filled with warmth and genuine affection. Inej enveloped y/n in a tight embrace, and y/n eagerly returned it, savoring the feeling of being back together.
Once inside, Inej's curiosity got the better of her. She asked y/n about the contents of the bags, her eyes gleaming with intrigue. "They're gifts,” Y/n's smile widened “for you guys."
Inej's face lit up with a mix of surprise and gratitude. She explained that the rest of the Crows were currently out but would be arriving shortly. Unable to contain their excitement any longer, y/n handed Inej one of the bags, containing a dazzling dark purple helmet that shimmered under the club's lights and was illustrated with what seemed to be a small dagger at the back of it.
Inej expressed her gratitude, but y/n quickly interjected, a mischievous glint in their eyes. "Don't thank me just yet," she teased. "Try it on first. We need to make sure it fits perfectly."
Inej laughed, understanding y/n's playful nature, and proceeded to try on the helmet. It slipped onto her head flawlessly, a perfect fit. A sense of satisfaction washed over y/n as she watched Inej wearing the helmet, knowing that her gesture of appreciation had been well received.
As the door swung open, signaling the arrival of Wylan and Jesper, y/n turned to greet them. She couldn't help but notice the intertwined hands of the couple. Jesper's eyes flickered towards Inej, who was proudly showing off her new helmet, and he playfully feigned offense.
"Wait, Inej gets her own helmet, but I don't?" Jesper exclaimed, his tone dripping with playful sarcasm. Y/n turned around, a mischievous grin playing on her lips, as she retrieved two of the five remaining bags.
With a twinkle in her eyes, y/n handed Jesper the bag, and he hurriedly opened it, his eagerness palpable. Inside was a helmet adorned with two intricately painted guns, a nod to Jesper's sharpshooting skills. Jesper's face lit up with delight as he quickly tried the helmet on, the perfect fit causing a surge of excitement within him.
Y/n chuckled at Jesper's enthusiasm, reminding him, "Oi! You've got to chill, mate." Their attention then turned to Wylan, who approached the group with a faint smile gracing his features. Y/n extended the second bag toward him, her voice filled with warmth and understanding.
"I know you're not really into the whole bike life thing, but you never know." y/n said, her voice tinged with a hint of playfulness. Wylan accepted the bag, his curiosity piqued. As he opened it, a burst of vibrant colors greeted his eyes—a yellow helmet adorned with red and orange flames that swirled around its surface.
Jesper looked on in awe, recognizing the thoughtfulness behind y/n's choice. He couldn't help but admire how the flames on Wylan's helmet represented what he loved most, even without an actual bomb design. With a shy smile, Wylan carefully placed the helmet on his head, the perfect fit a testament to y/n's attention to detail.
The group stood together, each adorned with their new helmets.
As they waited for the rest of the group to arrive, Jesper informed y/n that Kaz was caught up in an important meeting somewhere in the city, while Nina and Matthias were on a much-deserved date. With a collective decision to wait, they settled in, sipping on drinks and engaging in a friendly game of darts, with Jesper predictably emerging as the victor—his sharp aim unmatched by the others.
Time passed, and conversation flowed freely between the group. Amidst the laughter, Wylan found himself drawn to y/n's affinity for motorcycles. He mustered up the courage to strike up a conversation, genuinely curious about her passion.
"Why do you like bikes so much?" Wylan asked, his voice laced with genuine curiosity. Y/n smiled, recognizing Wylan's shy demeanor and the effort he made to engage in conversation. Sensing an opportunity, y/n extended an offer.
"Instead of explaining, how about I show you?" y/n suggested with an inviting smile. Jesper's grin widened, and Inej nodded approvingly, encouraging Wylan to embrace the adventure.
With a mix of curiosity and trepidation, Wylan agreed, realizing that he had his helmet to put to use. Y/n knew this ride would be different from the others y/n had taken the Crows on. She knew Wylan's apprehension toward bikes, so instead of navigating the bustling city streets, y/n took him toward the tranquility of nature, opting for scenic routes where the sounds of honking cars were replaced by the harmonious melodies of birds and the rustle of leaves.
As they cruised through picturesque landscapes, Wylan's initial unease slowly transformed into a sense of peace and appreciation. He marveled at the beauty of nature, his eyes wide with wonder. The ride was calm, allowing him to connect with his surroundings in a way he hadn't experienced before.
Y/n watched Wylan's transformation with a contented smile, knowing that this gentle ride was a reflection of their friendship and understanding. Sometimes, it's not about the thrill of adrenaline but rather finding solace in the serenity of nature and the company of a trusted friend.
As the wind gently caressed their helmet covered faces, Wylan's hesitation melted away, replaced by a newfound sense of freedom. The bond between y/n and Wylan grew stronger, forged through shared experiences and the willingness to step outside their comfort zones.
The ride came to a peaceful end, and as they dismounted their bikes, a sense of tranquility hung in the air. Wylan's eyes sparkled with gratitude as he thanked y/n for the unique experience.
With heartfelt sincerity, y/n replied, "Anytime, Wylan. I'm glad I could show you a different side of the bike life."
As they made their way inside, y/n and Wylan encountered Matthias and Nina, who had just arrived at the Crow Club. Nina's sharp eyes immediately caught sight of Wylan's helmet, and she couldn't resist making a playful comment.
"What do you have there, demo man?" Nina teased, her gaze shifting to Wylan's slightly flushed face. Wylan, a touch embarrassed, explained that the helmet was a gift from y/n.
As the group walked together, y/n guided them toward the table where three gift bags were waiting. With a playful grin, y/n handed a bag to Matthias and another to Nina. Excitement filled the air as they eagerly opened their bags, revealing their personalized helmets.
Matthias' helmet, larger than the others, was a deep shade of blue, adorned with the majestic figures of a moon and a wolf. A sense of awe washed over him as he took in the intricate details. Nina's helmet, on the other hand, shimmered with a beautiful honey color, and it was covered in whimsical waffle designs.
Laughter erupted as they admired their helmets, each reflecting their unique personalities. Y/n then urged them to try the helmets on, curious if Matthias' would fit since she had only given him a ride once before, under emergency circumstances.
As Matthias placed the helmet on his head, it became evident that it was slightly too big. Y/n immediately apologized and promised to get the right size tomorrow, feeling a tinge of regret for not ensuring the perfect fit. However, Matthias reassured them with a warm smile.
"There's no need to apologize, y/n. I really like it," Matthias said sincerely, his voice filled with gratitude. Nina chimed in, expressing her thanks for the beautifully crafted helmet that had unexpectedly ignited her waffle cravings.
With laughter and appreciation, the Crows marveled at their newfound accessories, their helmets serving as tokens of friendship and shared experiences.
As darkness enveloped the city, the tired crows bid their farewells after receiving a text from Kaz letting them know that the club wouldn’t open tonight, gradually dispersing to seek rest in their respective abodes. However, y/n's determination to deliver the final gift spurred her to deviate from the usual path home. Instead, she set her course towards Kaz's apartment, carrying the bag containing his present.
Arriving at Kaz's building, y/n caught sight of him stepping out of his car. With a burst of excitement, she called out his name, catching him off guard. Kaz turned towards her, his expression a mix of surprise and curiosity.
"Hello, y/n. What are you doing here?" he inquired, his voice laced with intrigue. Without uttering a word, y/n extended the bag towards him, her smile growing with anticipation.
"How about we go up to your apartment, and you open it?" she suggested, a mischievous glimmer in her eyes. Kaz nodded in agreement, briefly summoning the elevator. As the doors slid open, they stepped inside, and y/n couldn't help but notice Kaz's tired demeanor. He gently rubbed his leg, attempting to alleviate the strain from a day likely spent on his feet.
Once they reached Kaz's apartment, they settled on the couch, y/n eagerly awaiting his reaction as he carefully opened the bag. Inside lay an almost black helmet adorned with crows in flight. Yet, what distinguished this helmet from the others was the addition of golden letters at the bottom—KR.
Kaz examined the helmet meticulously, his eyes tracing the intricate details. A sense of appreciation and warmth filled the room as he finally spoke, "It's... beautiful." Y/n blushed slightly but swiftly returned to her playful self.
"I know, right?" she responded, a lightheartedness to her tone. Observing Kaz's finger tracing the initials, a hint of nervousness crept into y/n's mind, questioning whether the inclusion of the "R" was too much. Before she could voice her concerns, Kaz interrupted her by swiftly donning the helmet and declaring his affection.
"I love it," he stated resolutely, his voice brimming with sincerity. Y/n's heart swelled with joy, her playful demeanor restored.
The room seemed to glow with an unspoken understanding and appreciation, as Kaz embraced the thoughtful gift.

Hi anon, thanks for sending the request, and I'm glad you liked my previous Tolya fic
I hope you like this one, literally, this one of the first things I saw when I woke up the morning you send it
Tumblr media
Of all the adventures that you had been in your time as a member of the Sturmhond crew, well prince Nikolai crew, this was the most important of all
While a part of the crew stayed to control the situation with the Darkling, his sidekicks and the shadow, you, Tolya and Zoya traveled to Ketterdam to recruit the crows to get help to get a sword that would help to destroy the creatures that lived at the shadow
During the trip, Zoya made sure to stay away from you and Tolya to give the both of you some space, but mostly was because she didn't want to hear all the poetry that the heartrender recite to you
Most people would found it annoying, but for you it was lovely because that was the way he made his way to your heart
Convincing the crows to join was easy the moment they knew there will be a economic compensation, so during big part of the day while Kaz and Nina investigate where they could find the sword, the rest of you were gattered around that part of the city, you and Tolya were trying food from the stalls while he explained the plate that both of you were eating
When the night arrived, you, Tolya, Kaz, Inej and Jesper entered the Ohval's house, while Wylan stayed outside, but soon the five of you realised that you were trapped and some orange smoke was entering the small space
But even with your Inferni powers and the efforts of all of you, the smoke was starting to make effect on you taking your breath away, leaving you laying on the floor along with the others, leaving no space to Tolya to try to slow down your heart as he did with his own
When you woke up, you weren't in the Ohval's house anymore, standing up you realised you were in some kind of medaow with a small house a few metters in front of you, so you decided to get closer noticing two figures, one big and one small, playing in the entrance of the house, making your curiosity to increase
Stopping three metters away from the scene, you soon noticed how the two people playing were Tolya and a little girl who was a mix between both of you making you shed a few tears of happinnes of thinking about a possible future with your lover
But almost inmediatly, the tears of joy turned into tears of desperation and screams of pain when the small house and his surroundings light on fire along with Tolya and the little girl getting caught in the fire
Even if you tried to help to stop it, it wouldn't work because you were an inferni, it could be worse
When the fire started to get to you, you suddenly woke up watching Tolya hovering over you with his hand covering your mouth
"It's okay, it's okay", Tolya said noticing your panicked look, "Just eat it, it help with the venom"
Trusting in his words, you started to chew the thing that was in your mouth noticing it was a weird feeling and flavor until you finally eat it all
Making sure that you already eat it, Tolya help you to sit in which almost inmediatly, you hug him thightly remembering the vision you just had
At first, he was a little surprised but he realised you must had a hard vision so he hugged you with almost the same force as you
"We are okay", Tolya said again in a recomforting tone, "I'm here"
"I thought I lost you", you sniffled against his shoulder
"You are not going to loose me", he assured you, "I promise"

Ravka. She’d recognize the air anywhere, which she missed most from her childhood. The scent of freshly plowed grass and apple blossoms. She opened her eyes, half expecting to be standing in front of her childhood home but smiled softly when she recognized the house she stood in front of. A large two-story house painted light blue with brown roofing and a well-used wooden porch. Large fields surrounded the residence, not another house within eyesight. The uneven stone path led to the porch steps Y/N stood on while she waited. Joyous screams and laughter echoed from the back of the house.
“There she is! Y/N!”
“Jesper!” She copied him and laughed as she walked down the steps with her arms open as Nina ran to her. “We’ve missed you guys so much!”
The group exchanged their warm greeting but were interrupted by the squeals from the backyard grew louder causing Y/N to chuckle. “The kids are out back, and from the sound of it, Kaz just joined them.”
Nina and Inej linked their arms through Y/N’s, walking on each of her sides while the other followed the three girls.
“Uhg,” the Heartrender groaned. “You’re an official mum now.”
“And Kaz is an official father,” the Inferni responded.
“That’s even stranger to think about.” Nina shuddered causing the woman beside her to roll her eyes.
“I’d like to state,” Inej spoke up. “I called it. I knew they’d settle down eventually.”
“And I knew they’d have kids one day.” Wylan chimed in.
Y/N smiled fondly as she remembered the day she and Kaz told their friends they were adopting their first child. Their beautiful baby girl. Someone would have thought the world was ending, given the Crow’s reactions. Matthias had nearly passed out while Nina stood speechless staring at the couple with wide eyes. Jesper yelled and jumped around, already claiming his role of ‘favorite uncle’ as Wylan hugged Y/N and smiled at Kaz. Inej had quickly followed Wylan in hugging Y/N and telling the somewhat recently married couple that they would be amazing parents.
The group of six continued their way to the backyard and caught the attention of the three Brekkers in the field. Y/N bent down with no control of her body and held her arms open for the children to run into. “My babies!” She placed kisses all over their small faces causing peels of squealing and giggles to fall from their lips, making her heart fill with a sense of love she’s only grown fonder of. She quickly diverted their attention to their aunties and uncles as she walked over to Kaz, placing a chaste kiss to his cheek once she reached his side.
“What are you thinking?” Y/N asked softly as she looked up at his side profile. He hummed and looked down at her without turning his head with a small smirk. “Nothing.”
She hummed in disbelief but left it be. “Go welcome our family to our home while I make dinner.” She let her fingers trace his sleeve for a short moment before she turned to walk up the back steps to the house. She closed the screen door behind her and walked into the kitchen, opening the large windows above the sink so she could hear and watch her family outside. She turned the tap on and let the warm water run over her hands.
If she would’ve told her younger self that this was the life she would get to live after everything she’d be put through, she would laugh at herself. Call her older self deranged and unstable. This was the life she dreamed about growing up in the Little Palace, but that was all it was to her, a fantasy. Never in her wildest dreams did she think she would ever get to live in the country side again with a husband and children. Children she gets to raise in a world that’s as safe as could be and give them the proper childhood that had been stolen from her. This is what they were fighting for all those years ago. A life like this. This life was supposed to be her end game.
The screen door swung open and shut twice, telling her she had company.
“Why’d you sneak off like that?”
Y/N chuckled, “I’m just going to make dinner for us.”
Inej made her way into the kitchen, following Nina. “We’ll help then, Wylan said he’ll come in a little bit.”
The inferni looked out the window to see said chemist and Jesper running around with the kids. She smiled to herself knowing he won’t be joining them in the kitchen.
~
“Anyone need more blankets?” Y/N called from the hallway with towels in her arms as she made her way through the two guest rooms. Wylan and Jesper in one while Nina and Matthias took the other. Inej was in the children’s room, having a sleep over with her niece while her nephew had taken the middle of his parent’s bed.
“I think we’re all good, thank you, Y/N/N.” Jesper wrapped an arm around her shoulders and rested his chin on her head, pulling a chuckle from her lips. “Alright,” she murmered. “Sleep tight then.”
She walked into her daughter’s room and smiled as she heard the hushed whispers being shared between the pair in the bedroom. “Get some sleep, missy.”
Her eldest groaned softly, “I’m just catching up with Aunty ‘nej. She’s telling me all her new stories.”
Y/N held her hands up in mock defense as she placed a kiss to her forehead. “Alright, but don’t stay up too late.” And she sent a smile to Inej on her way out of the room. A few more paces down the hallway and she finally made to to her own bedroom. The sight in front of her nearly made her heart burst. Kaz laid on his side of the bed with their son curled into his side with a children’s book resting on his chest.
Y/N grabbed her nightgown and walked to their attached wash room to get ready for the night. After washing her face, brushing her teeth and mentally checking that everything down stairs was turned off and put away she crawled into her side of the bed and slid under the covers. As she reached over to her nightstand to turn off the oil lamp, she felt a hand brush through her hair. She turned around and kissed his fingertips.
“Thank you.” His voice sounded like rough and gravel-like, like rock salt. It brought the warmest smile to his wife’s lips.
“For what?”
“For everything you’ve given us. It was nice to have everyone here today and it just… reminded me of where we were years ago.”
She hummed, “I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for you, Brekker. You know that.”
“Well, Brekker, I wouldn’t be the man I am today without you. So let’s call it even.”
The boy tucked into his side muttered under his breath and turned to his mother’s side to cling to her. She placed a kiss on his head as she ran her hand through his hair. She reached her free hand to her husband’s and linked their pinkies. “Good night, my love.”
“Good night, darling.”

Chapter 3
A/N: here comes one of my fave Kanej scene!! (tho a bit changed but nvm) This became longer than I wanted, apologies if it feels too much!
(Btw i rewatched the series recently and my god was he hot doing this)
Tumblr media
"You want us to do what?" Jesper asked and stopped fidgeting with his revolver. Y/N gave them back to him aftter Kaz told (almost) everything about his plan. But as expected, they had some reluctance towards some details.
"Do you have a better idea on how to get into a prison?" Kaz raised his brows, waiting for an answer, then nodded. "Thought so. As I said-"
"You intentionally want us to be prisoners? Get put behind bars, not to mention, that we'll have absolutely no weapons with us," Nina interrupted him. Kaz turned to her with an annoyed expression. "That is what I just told you, didn't I?" Everyone shifted in their seat uncomfortably, except Y/n. Her mind was already running with thoughts about Kaz's reason behind the idea.
"That's what I'm here for, isn't it?" She asked and they turned to her as she continued. "No one's going to expect criminals to willingly go into prison, that's why it's the perfect disguise. While the six of you are inside, I can shapeshift and easily get in and out, bringing you your weapons. I can change into anyone or anything, which means I can even change into a guard to make it less suspicious." It's a brilliant idea, she thought to herself but didn't say it out loud. Ghezen forbid she makes Kaz's ego grow bigger, if that was possible.
"And once we find Yul-Bayur, the two of you will change place until we get him out, saving time for us." Kaz told them and Y/N let out a small hum, as if she was agreeing with Kaz's explanation. "It'll work as long as no one tries to speak in Shu to me," Y/N said then quickly added, "or Fjerdan."
"According to my timing, no one's going to suspect a thing until we give you the signal and you leave," Kaz told her while Jesper slightly shook his head. "Don't want to offend you Y/N, I totally believe that you can do that, but umm," he hesitated for a moment before continuing, "how sure can we be that this will work? I mean, won't it be suspicious that while we're dragging him through the crowd, another one of him casually stirs potions in his laboratory?"
"I aggree with Jesper," Inej said and Kaz looked at her annyoed. "You too now?"
"Look Kaz, it's not that we don't trust you-" "I definitely don't trust him," Matthias mumbled while Inej spoke. "It's just that this really seems like a crazy idea. At least tell us you have a backup plan, if someone notices us," she pleaded with him but Kaz just stared at them with a blank face, seemingly in thought. His silence made both Jesper and Y/N worried. "You do have a backup plan?" Jesper asked, and Y/N quickly followed.
"Tell us you have a backup plan," Y/N asked with wide eyes and when Kaz finally looked at them he rolled his eyes. "Of course, I'm not an idiot. I have backup plans for backup plans,"
"That didn't sound so convincing," Y/N let out a sigh and Jesper did the same.
"I already figured it out. There's a few things that needs more details, but otherwise I have a solid plan," Kaz told them, and this time they found his words convincing enough not to doubt him furthermore.
After assigning each of them a task and telling them to meet at Fifth Harbor in two hours, Kaz dismisses the Crows.Y/N hugs Inej and Jesper on their way out, telling them to be careful, and slipping a newly made knife onto Inej's belt. When Nina walks past her to the door, she slightly turns towards the shapeshifter, as if telling her a secret.
"I don't know what's going on between you and Brekker, but I'm glad you're joining us," she told her honestly and it made Y/N's heart skip a beat. She was sure the heartrender sensed it by the smirk on her face.
"What do you mean by that?" She asked as nonchalantly as she could, but the grin on Nina's face told her she couldn't deceive her. "Whenever you speak his heart beats slower, like your voice is a drug and he just got injected with it. Makes him more calm, that's all. Also, green suits you," Nina winked and pointed at her leather vest under her apron. Y/N gave her a small smile in return, and watched as everyone left her apartment, even Kaz.
She didn't stop him when he went out the door, instead keeping her promise to him and acting like they were nothing else besides old colleagues. Oh but they were much more than that.
Even the word lovers were too much of an understatement for what they were to each other. In her head, Y/N called Kaz many things throughout the years: a colleague, an annoying friend, an asshole, a best friend, a partner in crime, a pain in the ass, her other half. One thing she knew for sure was that no matter how much of a liar and spiteful man he was, whatever promise Kaz made to her, he always made sure to keep it somehow.
I promise I'll give you a new knife.
He stole the one a Dime Lion threw at his head.
I promise I won't tell you drank it.
He created a fake alibi for her.
I promise I won't steal your pancakes again.
He stole the waffles instead.
I promise I'll be willing to try.
He could give her kisses on her skin now. He could take off his gloves and hold her hand for almost fifteen minutes. He could hug her, hold her, kiss her cheek almost without trouble.
He even tried kissing her a few weeks ago, trying to surprise her, but it didn't went well. They still did the things they accomplished in the last two years, but he didn't try kissing her again. Y/N didn't mind it for one minute, because this slow pace wasn't just because of Kaz. She had her fare share with fear of skin on skin contact. If the burn marks on her neck weren't any indicators, then her avoidance of close touches certaintly was.
She could deal with her aversion far better than Kaz, due to her nephew who sometimes clinged to her like there was no tomorrow. Not to mention that she used to work as a waitress in the Crow Club for a few months, before accepting the job as a gunsmith's assisstant. Though sometimes when she got back into her apartment, she felt like just standing in the middle of the room, not wanting to touch any material or fabric. These times even the soft and warm cushions of her own bed made her feel nauseaous. Especially the warmth that mattress could radiate, despite the fact that she always kept her bedroom rather chilly, even in the winter.
Y/N walked down to the workshop and took off her belt, that kept some of her tools on her hip. She also took the dirty apron off and tossed it on the anvil. She glanced around the workshop, wondering how many weapons should she bring with her. She though about the ones she's going to use, the ones for backup, and the ones the others will have to use in the Ice Court. She walked over to the shelves next to the fireplace and grabbed two belts. One for her and one for Inej, once they're inside the prison. She also grabbed gun hoisters, just in case, and put the four items on an empty table. She grabbed a few knives and two revolvers, along with three packs of bullets, so at least four dozen bullets. She began searching for the bag she used for delivering weapons to the Dregs, and she found it amongst the multiple boxes at the back of the room. She carefully placed the guns and the gun hoisters inside, then filled it with the knives and the packs of bullets. She threw the belt for Inej on top of everything and closed the bag. She also put the other belt on her waist, secured it, and filled it with knives, along with her leather vest. Her fingers grazed the edge of the vest, remembering her 16th birthday, when her brother convinced Inej to get Y/N a similar vest to hers
"I hate that you keep weapons on yourself at all times, but you might as well do it with some style."
Y/N smiled at the memory as she grabbed the bag and made her way upstairs.
Just as she was about to close the door, she heard the sound of a cane clicking on the stairs. She left the door slightly ajar, as she went into the kitchen and put the bag on the table. She grabbed another glass from the cabinet along with hers, and poured some kvas into both. She didn't turn around, even when the footsteps stopped and she could feel Kaz's presence directly behind her.
"Do you think you'll be able to pull it off?" He asked as Y/N turned around with both glasses in her hands. She gave one of them to him, as she answered. "If you think I can, then I think so too," she took a sip from her glass and watched Kaz quirk his eyebrow at her. "And why would I think that?" He asked rather playfully. "You wouldn't have offered me a place, if you thought otherwise," Y/N shrugged her shoulders and let the smug look take over her face. Kaz rolled his eyes, but Y/N could see the smile he was hiding in his features. "Your smugness is something I definitely didn't miss in the last few days," he downed the remaints of his drink and stepped closer to put his glass on the table. Right next to Y/N's hip.
"That indicates you missed me in the first place," she said quietly and really hoped her voice didn't waver as Kaz leaned closer to her. She could almost feel his breath on her face as he spoke. "Don't be so full of yourself," he whispered back gently, as he tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear, then letting his hand linger on her cheek. It made Y/N's heart melt the first time he did it, and it certaintly melted for the hundredth time too. She gave him a soft smile. "I missed you too,"
Later at Fifth Harbor
Kaz and Y/N parted ways after closing the workshop, to meet the others. Y/N went on a longer route to eliminate anyone that might be following them. The bag felt heavier in her hands, since Kaz insisted on her bringing some first aid items, just in case.
"We won't need at least half of these," Y/N argued with him, and he gave her a frustrated glance. "Is it so evil of me to try keeping you unharmed?"
As Y/N reached the harbor she noticed five figures near the ship that was taking them to Fjerda, and when she heard the footsteps behind her, she let out a smile. "How is your new knife?"
"It's beautiful. I really like it," Inej said from next to her and they began walking over to their group. "I knew the royal blue grip would suit you," Y/N winked at her and Inej softly smiled. "I've been thinking, and I'd like to ask you a question. Is it because of your shapeshifting ability, that you always knew when I was near? I always found it strange that you could notice my presence, when no one else did."
"When I turn back into human, I can still use some traits of animals. Sometimes it's only for a few hours, sometimes it's for days. Depends on the strength of the animal. Excellent hearing is one of them," Y/N told Inej and she listened to her with curiousity. She always liked to learn about new things, and Y/N was more than happy to give her answers.
The two of them came to a stop in front of the group, when all of a sudden the ship in front of them blew up. They all ducked down to not get hit by the wood and glass shards that erupted from the end of the dock.
"That was our ship!" Jesper shouted as Inej and Y/N were already scanning their surroundings. Kaz stood up straight and began limping away, signaling for them to follow him. "That was only a decoy. I counted on something like this happening,"
"Of fucking course you were," Y/N mumbled as she followed him along with the others. Kaz lead them to the real boat, the Ferolind, when someone began shooting at them. The bullets came from more than one direction, which ment the ambush was planned.
Jesper grabbed his revolvers and began shooting back, while diving behind one of the shipping crates, Nina and Matthias following him. Kaz and Wylan wasn't too far from them, throwing bombs at the attackers. Y/N and Inej were hiding in the shadows, trying to see who the attackers were.
"Shit, I need to get rid of this bag," Y/N whispered to herself, before tugging on Inej's coat. "I'll try to pass the bag to the others. Go around from the left, I'll take the right side. Maybe we can attack them from behind," she said and Inej nodded, disappearing among the crates.
Y/N took a glance around the dock and when she saw Jesper behind one of the crates, she slowly began to make her way towards him, but in the last few meters she just ran. She hopped down next to him and pushed the bag into Nina's hands. "There's at least a dozen knives in there, so be careful," Y/N told her and immediately went back to where she came from.
She couldn't see well in the dark, so she duck behind a crate and turned into a black cat. She ran the way where Inej went and she saw her fighting with a man, badly losing. Y/N sprinted towards them and just as she changed back into human, ready to kill the person, she saw him bleeding on the ground, Inej nowhere to be seen. She glanced around frantically searching for Inej, and when she saw her climbing the pyramid of shipping crates she gently grabbed her ankle. Inej tried to kick her and as Y/N saw the girl pointing the knife at herself, ready to avoid capture, she quickly reassured her.
"Inej! It's me!" She exclaimed and saw Inej stop as she took a better look at Y/N. "Are you hurt?" She asked but when she saw dark liquid staining Inej's side, her face fall. "Saints. Come on, I'll get you to the boat!" Y/N said and grabbed the girl's arm and put it around her shoulders. Then she tried to get Inej to her feet as gently as she could, but she still groaned in pain. "Sorry, sorry," Y/N apologized quietly. She quickly got the girl to the dock, before she felt a sharp pain piercing through her shoulder, making her drop Inej as she lost her balance. She managed to let out a scream before she felt the dark waves crash above her head.
The others were already on the deck, ready to help the two girls on the boat when they saw what happened. Nina and Jesper ran towards Inej, meanwhile Kaz stood there frozen, watching the dark water that took Y/N. He could faintly hear Jesper asking Nina if she hears Y/N's heartbeat, and the girl saying yes. He also saw a Black Tip, Oomen, jumping right after Y/N with a rope in his hands. Jesper stepped on deck with Inej in his arms, and Nina by his side giving him orders and Kaz watched as they disappear.
Just when he looked back at the water, Y/N came to the surface, tossing around to get Oomen off her back as he tried to strangle her with the rope. She went underwater again, and the next time she came up she began frantically swimming towards the boat. When she saw that Kaz was about to jump after her, she yelled at him as loud as she could. "Go! Start the boat!" Then she let out a groan as Oomen behind her grabbed her again. "GO, I'LL FIND YOU!" She shouted before he pulled her underwater again.
Kaz knew it was the logical choice to start their journey, before the Ferolind got blown up too, but Y/N's scream was the only thing currently echoing in his mind. He didn't hear Nina and Jesper arguing while trying to keep Inej alive, nor Specht walking over to him.
"Start the boat as quick as you can," Kaz said harshly to Specht as he walked over to a scared Wylan. "Do we have any flash bombs left?" He demanded and the boy pulled the bag off his shoulders and handed Kaz three small bombs. "What are you going to do?" Wylan asked as he held the bag close to his chest. Kaz contemplated just leaving him there without an answer, but in the moment he was too frustrated and angry to care about the image he held. "Save a friend," he told Wylan and for a brief second saw the surprised faces of Matthias and Jesper. Kaz hurried to the side of the boat and threw the three bombs as close to the crates as he could, imitating the explosion of an actual bomb. Kaz was sure the rest of the attackers didn't stay in the harbor long after that.
As they left the harbor, Kaz kept his eyes on the waves below them, even as Jesper told him that Inej was fine, and Nina was currently stitching her up. Everytime Kaz thought he saw Y/N resurface in the water his heart lept from him. And everytime he realized it was just his mind playing tricks on him, his heart stopped in disappointment.
"Where's Y/N?" Jesper asked suddenly. "Is she okay? Did she stay behind?" He didn't got an answer and Jesper was about to walk away from Kaz, when he finally spoke up on a quiet voice. "She got attacked. It's nothing she can't handle though," he sensed Jesper's shock and subtly looked at the side of his face. "What is it Jesper?" The sharpshooter just shook his head, the shock turning into worry as he spoke. "Are you not worried about her? Not even a little bit?" "Not particularly. She can take care of herself," Kaz responded quickly, and tightened the grip on his cane. "But isn't the two of you old...acquaintances?" Jesper asked, slightly confused at the word. He suspected there was more between the two than being colleagues, but Jesper also suspected if he ever told this to Kaz he'd skin him alive. Kaz looked at him with a blank face, before turning back to the sea. "Tell Wylan and Matthias to work on the map," Jesper sighed disappointedly, but did as Kaz said.
Kaz heard someone cough beneath him, and he was certain his imagination was playing another trick on him, but then he heard a familiar voice. "Anyone there? Please," Her voice was weaker than he would've liked it to be, but it didn't stop Kaz from leaning down to see her better.
Y/N was gripping the side of the boat as hard as she could, with blood stained arms. She could hardly keep her eyes open and Kaz hurried to the ropes on the deck, before abandoning his cane and throwing the rope down for Y/N to grab. "Hold on," Kaz told her, and his voice made Matthias, Wylan and Jesper look at his back as he layed down on his stomach. Y/N grabbed the rope and Kaz immediately started pulling her up, letting out a groan as his bad leg protested against it. He felt the rope slowly slipping from his hands and it made him go faster. Y/N was only a few inches away from him, when all of a sudden Oomen emerged from the water, and grabbed her waist to pull her down.
Without a second thought, Kaz let go of the rope and grabbed Y/N at the back of her jacket which made her groan in pain. The others saw Kaz starting to slip off the boat and ran to him, but when they saw Y/N and the man on her back they shared shocked glances before jumping to action. Kaz told them to pull the man on board too, which made them even more shocked. Jesper grabbed Y/N's jacket and helped Kaz pull her up, while Wylan and Matthias grabbed the other guy and Y/N made sure to kick him in the groin once they were both on board.
She began to curse him in Ravkan, before she started violently shivering from swimming in the cold water. Nina stepped on deck right at this moment, when she went to check on the others. The scene before her left her speechless for a few seconds before worry took over her.
"What the hell is going on here?" She asked and when she saw Y/N shivering in her drenched clothes beside Kaz, she quickly went over to her, but was stopped by a very angry Kaz. "You stay there Heartrender," He growled but Nina had none of it. "Saint sake, the girl will freeze to death if you won't let me help her! Let me warm her up!" She said but it only made Kaz angrier. Y/N shook her head as she spoke.
"No, no fire. I don't want fire," She began frantically breathing but Kaz reassured her with gently rubbing her back.
The movement made them realize that Kaz was still holding the girl, like it was the most normal thing in the world.
"There won't be any fire," He said to Y/N before turning back to Nina. "You can go," His harsh words made Nina even more angry with him. "Damn you Brekker, I was trained for this! I know what she needs! Let me help her!"
"You don't know what she needs!!" He yelled at her and it made everyone go silent. "Oh, and you do?" Nina asked mockingly and Kaz stayed silent. Then to all of their shock and surprise, he took off his coat while still staring at Nina like he was going to murder her. Then he put the coat around Y/N's shaking form as he helped her up from the ground and took her inside a cabin on the boat. The murderous look not once leaving his face.
After they disappeared, Jesper and Wylan got Oomen tied up and sat against the railing of the boat, stuffing his mouth with an old cloth. Jesper walked over to Nina and opened his mouth.
"Nina dear, can you check if my heart is still beating?" He casually asked her which made Nina turn to him with a questioning look. "I thought I'll have to die before I get to witness something like this,"
"Like what?" Nina asked back.
"Kaz Brekker, being affectionate...and protective?" Jesper answered like he didn't believe his own words.
"Did you...notice the tension between them?" Nina asked sheepishly and when she looked at Jesper he was already grinning. "Notice? I'm surprised we didn't catch on fire yet," he chuckled and Nina smirked at him. "Do you think they know about their feelings for the other?"
"Knowing Kaz, I'd say not in a million years," Jesper hesitated for a second and then continued. "And knowing Y/N, I'd say they're already together, but again, knowing Kaz, he'd rather keep it a secret than publicly admit he feels anything besides revenge."
Nina's mouth was slightly agape as she crossed her arms and fully turned to him. "I can't possibly believe he'd ever admit his feelings to anyone. Especially to that gorgeous woman," she said and Jesper smiled at her with a little mischief in his eyes.
"Would you bet on it?" Nina returned the mischievous grin as she answered. "Certainly. What have you got in mind?"
"We bet on their relationship." "Oh, and how much?" Nina asked curiously as he answered. "Dunno. Does 20 kruge sounds good to you?" She nodded her head and Jesper continued. "I bet that they're already together."
"I bet they don't know about each others feelings," Nina replied and Jesper reached his hand out to her and she shook it. "Deal."
The bet made its way to the others, every one of them voting on Nina's words, with Inej being the most definite about it. Even Specht bet on them, being the only one to side with Jesper.
Meanwhile Kaz was having a hard time reasoning with Y/N, for she seemed even more stubborn when she was injured.

Hello!! 5 and/or 13 for the kiss prompts for Wesper?? 👀
questions
5: where it doesn't hurt + 13: discreetly
hi!! 💌 I wrote this in less than half an hour, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless💗💗
Jesper never thought he could spend even a single day without feeling the rush, the pull, the need — to move and keep moving until he got swallowed by the tide, to play and keep playing until he lost everything. His body had been a cage for something that shouldn't have been caged at all, something that kept looking for ways to burst out.
That's how his blessing turned into a curse — and has been a curse all these years, all this time.
Until now that the energy buzzing into his bones is finally unleashed — whenever Jesper shoots (for fun, now, rather than necessity) he knows what he is doing to the bullets, whenever he needs something he tries and make that something. Wylan encouraged him to try and take the colors off some of his paintings. "I will ruin them," he had protested. "You won't," Wylan had stubbornly answered, chin tilted upwards and eyes fierce as flames and kind as the warmest hug.
So, Jesper took all the paint off the canvas, leaving white expanses for Wylan to paint all over again. So, Jesper shaped vases and statues in the Van Eck mansion the way he liked.
The painful, buzzing, deafening scream of energy trapped into his crawling skin has long gone.
And what it left space for, is this: it's Wylan's kisses all over his neck, and when before he had always felt his skin prickle and the intense urge for more, more, more, now there's just the soothing press of lips against skin. The comforting scent of Wylan's clean curls tickling his nose, the caress of his breath against his throat. He is not as sensitive to touch as he was before, not so desperate — he is there and he is present and he revels in the embrace of his lover.
At the beginning it was all wanting more and getting too much, not knowing how to ask and how to plead for Wylan to stop — when his skin got too sensitive, when he felt his bones pushing against his skin like they wanted to burst out. It hadn't been his bones — it had been his gift, all that bottled up energy that finally, finally Jesper allowed into his life. And when he did, what had always been a rush, a thrill, a too much, became slow, comforting, soothing.
Wylan grazes his teeth against Jesper's collarbone, and everything Jesper feels is the graze of teeth against skin — not sparks of energy that send him fidgeting and squirming, not rushes of incoherent thoughts to his brain. Just this: his boyfriend kissing his naked skin and Jesper not aching from it anymore. Aching for it, rather.
"Don't leave marks," Jesper urges when Wylan bites into the swell of his throat. What he earns is Wylan's devilish, smart smile, and that also soothes Jesper. He is seen, he is loved and held, he is free from the cage of his body and mind.
"They don't show on your skin," Wylan retorts, pouting a bit until Jesper physically has to lean down and kiss Wylan for it. Kiss Wylan because he wants and loves to, and not because his body needs to have that too much feeling that was killing it — too many games, too much risk, too much asked from Wylan that ended up in both of them sobbing and Jesper shamefully explaining that, apparently, he didn't know his limits. He does now. He does because his body is not poisoned anymore — it is there, alert but also peaceful, and it doesn't ache anymore.
"I have seen too many councilmen stare at my neck to believe you. Plus, we are meeting Kaz in half an hour."
Wylan groans, brows furrowing in displeasure. "They can suck my—"
"Merchling!" Jesper laughs, and that also comes easy: a genuine laugh punched out of his chest. Not forced, not hysterical, not too much. Real, full of love and surprise.
Wylan surges up to capture Jesper's lips in a biting kiss that, in a matter of seconds, turns soft and heart-warming and mind-blowing. The kind of kiss that grounds Jesper and riles Wylan up until his hands roam through his boyfriend's whole body. Which is what he does now. He presses Jesper harder against the shelves of the library and he kisses him like he wants to kiss the hurt away — like if there's something of that poisonous restraint in Jesper's body, he can just kiss him like a prayer and let it go away for good.
Jesper melts into the kiss and touches, anchoring himself to the feelings before he can float away from his body. Before, he was too caged in his body that he had to constantly shift his attention to something else, something more. Now, he feels so at ease under his own skin that he risks getting lost into the warmth and peace. It's not easy to find a balance, not for Jesper at least, but he tries.
Slowly, Wylan's hands come up to cup his cheeks and he deepens the kiss, panting against Jesper's mouth and then digging down again, bruising his neck until Jesper can do nothing else but moan and cling to the man he loves. He is about to curl his tongue around a moan of Wylan's name, as his boyfriend gently kisses his bruised neck, when they both stop.
A creak.
Voices from downstairs, probably the staff welcoming their guest.
Of course Kaz is early.
They raise their heads so fast that Jesper hits his against a shelf, rushing to put his shirt back on and trying to button it up before Kaz can open the door.
When he will, he'll find Wylan laughing to himself, hand in hand with a Jesper with his shirt buttoned unevenly and a bit crooked, and with a neck covered in darker or redder marks that they both know Kaz will notice. He will open the door to find Jesper happy, grounded, loved and in love, making room for sensations when before it was only hurtful sensitivity and ache.
For now, Jesper pushes Wylan off and Wylan comes closer to pepper his face with kisses while Jesper fumbles to button his own shirt. For now, Wylan kisses Jesper like a promise and laughs against his lips until all Jesper feels is not the rush, the thrill, the urge, but the unspoiled, soothing love.

Poly six of crows x reader of where she’s childish and they surprise her with toy card or dolls and just spoil her
Childlike
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Poly!Six of crows x Fem!reader.
This was cute and sweet, I am actually like this. This gives me vibes of a certain…Space.
Warnings: Childlike reader, childlike behavior, man there is nothing hear to warn you about. Expect cuteness overload.
Tumblr media
Helping my inner child as well.
So to start off by saying, for this situation you probably wouldn’t have the best childhood. Maybe it wasn’t the best, or it was the worst. What ever it was, you found comfort in the small things.
Like stuffed animal, toy figures, or anything you could find. It just reminded you of a younger time, and they were just so cute.
The group would love that about you and found it utterly adorable. They enjoyed the sparkle in your eyes when you saw the toys. How you would giggle and just play with them.
Kaz in the beginning of the relationship, before they all invited you to be theirs he was the first one to truly notice the childlike qualities. How your eyes would glue into the shop windows at a new child’s toy set. Or when you looked around for stuffed animals when no one was looking.
So he got you a gifted. He just saw it and thought of you. It was a fluffy small elephant, that you could carry around anywhere. When he gave it to you it was like the saints blessed that very moment. He had never saw you smile so wide, you hugged the stuffed animal in your chest.
“Thank you.” It was overwhelmingly sweet for you because no one had ever done that for you. Kaz couldn’t help but smile at you and patted your head to comfort you.
So you did carry the stuff animal around everywhere. Like every where, even got a belt to hold it.
The crows always have gifts for you even ever they get back from a job.
There was a collection of all cards. You loved them so much. So even ever they saw a pack in the market they got it for you. It was animals, maybe even saint cards, anything really. You had it.
Jesper, really liked to play teatime with you, he’d make you at least sit down once a week with him. Wylan joins to because it helps him, because of his childhood.
Speaking of wylan, boy can’t help but get you everything your little heart desires. I mean can you not see him being the same way? Because I can. So if you want to play with your toys he is always down to join.
Nina likes dress up. You know they have bought you so many dresses and stuff. She gets you the most fancy things.
They love you so much and will do anything to see you smile. So you bet your butt they will buy you anything you want.
Kaz has played dolls with you before, but no one knows other then you- Or the others are to scared to say anything about it.
Inej likes to read you bed time stories, or buy you childlike books for you to read. I think her and Matthias do that the most.
Matthias built you a biggass doll house for all of your dolls- Which it was so big kaz was like “get it out.” But he saw just how much you liked it. So it stayed.
Your favorite stuffy was the elephant kaz gave you, but you had many others. One from each of them, that also smelled like them.
When the group saw that you had made dolls that looked like them, like exactly like them- They cried. Jesper was in full on tears, sobbing. Even kaz felt very touched but he didn’t cry- Well on the outside.
You sweet one, are spoiled by them. So try and sucker them out of everything you can.

Hey there! I love your fics (especially the ones of SaB) and i'm wondering if you are open to do a drabble of Kaz Brekker and a GN reader with Another Love by Thomas Odell. Congrats on 2k, you deserve everyone of them 🥰
Fandom: Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows
A/N: The song sounds like this piece should end in breakup but as I don't write full angst anymore, I came up with another solution. Also why is Y/N a bartender at the Crow Club in my every fic where they're not a Crow or a Dreg... 😂
Word count: 668
Tumblr media
You were something Kaz had believed he would never meet, or even could. He was the monster in shadows, the reason why children weren't allowed to go out at night if they were unfortunate enough to live in the Dreg area. And yet you had appeared into his life, treating him like any other Dreg. Smiling at him, making up small talk and just... looking at him as if he was a human, not that evil demon everyone seemed to think he was, and from which he had taken pride of.
The very fact that your presence made him happy scared the hell out of him. Feelings were dangerous, and he knew that if you would die on a job, it would feel like his world collapsed on itself, because without you there, he wouldn't know how to keep himself sane. So he was rude to you instead, dismissing your opinions and inputs completely, even telling you to shut up a few times.
"You're not a Crow nor a Dreg, you're here to serve us drinks, I don't need to hear your opinion," he'd say, followed by you sighing. Inej noticed the regret flashing in Kaz's eyes when he said that, but said nothing on the spot. Nina heard his heartbeat and Jesper knew his best friend enough to know if he meant something or not - and when Kaz was like that to you, he definitely did it to hide something. It was a show, he tried so hard to be coldly impassive about it all.
Soon all the Crows knew exactly how Kaz felt about you, and they admired how you seemed to keep your bright face up even when Kaz was acting like an ass to you. Jesper wanted to tell Kaz to stop playing and try to show you how he feels, Nina made teasing remarks about his heart and Inej tried to talk him into apologizing to you at night when she brought information. They were all waiting for him to finally realize what a fool he was being, but he was too stubborn to give in to them.
Kaz couldn't understand why he cared for someone who had no benefit to him. When a drunk got into a fight with you when you didn't agree to let them drink more, he was always there to throw them out before they'd lay their hands on you. He saw you get hit with a bottle once and you had gotten a wound on your head, Kaz was just about to go over and help you as the first person but managed to stop himself when he saw Nina and Jesper already on the way. It was better that way, him helping you in front of everyone wouldn't have had ideal consequences, he would have been seen as weak if he had done that. And not to speak of him trying to hide his feelings from you, what would you think if he had just appeared beside you and offered to help you after trying to act like he doesn't care for so long?
But still, he couldn't help but want to take you somewhere beautiful so you'd have a hint of how he felt about you, maybe he could even tell you how he feels, or buy you... flowers?
He wanted to love you, but he wasn't sure if he ever could show it to you. He wanted to make you feel alright when he found you crying in the back room instead of just standing there for a moment and then leaving. He wanted to be able to comfort you, hug you, kiss the top of your head and mumble comforting words against your skin, but he knew he wasn't ready for anything like that.
But someday, he would be. Someday you could become his friend, more than friend, he would be more than just your boss, and maybe someday he would be able to show his love like he wanted to show it...

hello ! i would like to congratulate you for your 100 followers. i discovered your work some days ago and it’s pure gold for real !! it’s so amazing ! 💓
by the way, i saw that you requests are open and i had a little idea on my mind. could it be possible a jesper fahey x reader where reader and him are best friends. reader doesn’t like to show her emotions and tends to deny feelings she has for him, being quite harsh sometimes. then one day he confronts her about her behavior and she admits her feelings ?
i don’t know if it’s interesting and if you want to write it. if you don’t, it’s okay don’t worry about it ! and i’m sorry if i made some mistakes since english isn’t my first language.
falling for you, fool's gold

“When are you finally going to put us out of our misery and just ask him out?” You almost choked on your drink when Nina said that. The two girls sitting across from you only giggled after seeing your eyes widen ever so slightly.
“I have absolutely no clue who you are talking about.” Lie. You knew exactly who they were talking about. Even though you tried to hide your feelings as best as you could, Nina could feel the way your heart skipped a beat whenever he was around, so it obviously didn’t take Kaz’s level of deduction skills to figure that out.
“Dirty liar.” She whispered, leaning towards you with a devilish grin, almost tipping over the glass of whiskey in front of her whilst doing so. Inej only gave you an apologetic smile, but you knew that she was enjoying this just as much as Nina did.
“Nina’s right, Y/N. It would do you both some good if you would just tell him. And we could finally stop walking on eggshells whenever Jesper and you are in the same room.”
“I understand where you’re coming from, but Jesper and I are just friends.” Nina let out a dramatic groan, throwing her arm on the table and resting her head on top of it, looking up at you with pleading eyes. Always the drama queen. "There are absolutely no romantic feelings involved."
“Where are no romantic feelings involved? What are you girls gossiping about?” Jesper suddenly appeared in front of you, visibly in the mood to join in on the conversation. Maybe you should order a new drink.
“Y/N’s dating life - or the lack thereof.” The Heartrender answered quickly, stifling a laugh when she saw the look of horror that flashed over your face when she said that. Thankfully, Jesper hadn't noticed it, instead raising an inquisitive brow at you before he shoved himself into the booth beside you.
“That's a topic which I'll gladly stay for!" He gave you a wink, swiftly putting his arm around your shoulders and pulling you a bit closer to his side. Saints, how you hated this.
However, you also hated hating this. He was your best friend. Hugging, touching, and occasionally flirting were something you had always done. You had never been uncomfortable with that before until you started to realize that you might think of him a little differently than you initially thought. He didn't deserve to be subjected to your - probably very much unrequited - feelings and all the effects it had on your behaviour towards him.
"I don't think she necessarily wants you to stay," Inej commented slyly, causing Jesper to frown and direct his attention back to you again.
"Why's that? Do I play a role in it?" He inquired with a smug smile playing across his lips. "Have I missed you pouring your heart out and telling everyone about the crush you have on me?"
"In your dreams, Fahey." You tried to play off the stinging embarrassment you felt. You wanted to focus on something else, stir the conversation in another direction, but whenever you tried to do so, you were made painfully aware of the way his arm laid on your shoulders. The way his hand mindlessly played with some strands of your hair, twirling it around his finger. The way his breath felt hot against your neck when he spoke to you. This was terrible.
"Oh come on, you know it's the truth." It was an obvious joke, you could hear it in his tone. But it made you feel even smaller than you felt before.
"No." Yes.
"You'll do eventually." This sounded less like a joke, the wink accompanying it didn't help.
"Just drop it, Jesper." You shrugged off his shoulder dismissively, resulting in him giving Nina and Inej a confused glance before carefully retreating his arm. You never called him 'Jesper' unless you were mad at him, so why would you start now? But he just couldn't put a finger on what might have annoyed you. Did he take it too far with one of his jokes? You had never minded him saying things like that.
"Okay?" He put emphasis on drawing out the word as long as he could, his expression changing from confused to worried. He wanted nothing more than to ask what was wrong, however, judging by your previous reaction, you probably wouldn't appreciate that very much.
Inej managed to lead the conversation in another direction - one that wouldn't force you to talk about things you didn't want to say out loud - but the tension between you and Jesper didn't die down by any means. The tension only got stronger the longer the silence settled. And in the evening, you didn't even hit him before returning to the Slat. He made an effort to ask the two girls that remained in their respective seats at the club, with no result. They simply feigned a clueless expression before leaving him to figure it out by himself.
The following week didn't help turn things around. Quite the opposite actually. It managed to make things even more awkward. You didn't sit as close to him as you used to during meetings. You skipped certain meals if that meant that you didn't have to be around him for any longer than needed. And you weren’t up for spending nights at the club with him anymore. It was as if your friendship had been put on hold and you went back to being strangers again.
You didn’t necessarily enjoy this arrangement either, but you worried that you might let something slip whenever he was around you, so you tried your best to avoid him. It was only after one particularly draining day that you didn’t feel like spending the evening cooped up in your room and decided to spend some time in the living room. Most of the others seemed to be out, so you could enjoy the quiet and continue reading whatever novel had currently caught your interest.
This supposed peace didn’t last long. You didn’t even manage to finish one chapter until you heard footsteps coming up the stairs. That didn’t have to mean anything. It could literally be anyone. But of course, luck wasn’t on your side, and the only person you didn’t want to see walked through the door.
At first, he didn’t even notice you, completely focused on adjusting the holster of his guns. But as soon as he reached the couch, probably intending to also take some time to unwind, he paused for a second, staring you up and down as if he had never seen you before.
“Hi.” He broke the silence, standing only a few metres away from you with his hands fidgeting in front of him like a child that expected scolding.
You turned your head to face him, having hesitated to do so in hopes that he would just continue walking. His hair was slightly damp and so were his clothes, which told you that he probably just came back from drinking - or gambling -, since it had been raining outside for the last couple of hours. Normally, you would have joined him during and after his non-work-related trips to the club, providing him with whatever kind of support or company he needed. Not this time though.
“Hi.” He almost looked startled that you actually interacted with him, no matter whether it was only briefly before getting back to your book.
“I, uhm, do you mind if I join you in here?” That question hit you right where it hurt. Jesper would have never asked to simply be around you. He would have respected your boundaries had you said no, but that would have probably never been a real issue.
“No, I don’t.” You answered, giving him your best impression of an inviting smile, however, still quickly taking your eyes off of him.
He didn’t sit next to you how he usually would, instead turning to lounge on the couch opposite you, pulling out his revolvers to absent-mindedly clean them. You could see the occasional curious glances he gave you when he thought you weren’t looking, and it drove you mad that you were too afraid to properly interact with him.
“Listen, Y/N.” He started with a sigh, causing you to look up from your novel to focus on him. “I don’t really understand what I did wrong, but I know that something is wrong. But if you’re avoiding me because of what happened last week, I’m sorry. I should’ve just stopped when you told me to. I know that you don’t have feelings for me, and it was stupid of me to make you uncomfortable by acting like you do.”
“I wouldn’t have had a problem with you annoying me if it hadn’t been the truth.” You thought, biting the inside of your cheeks to not break out crying.
“What?” Shit, did you say that out loud? The befuddled look on his face gave you a clear answer to that. “What did you say?”
“Nothing that concerns you.” He sat up straight again, gaping at you with wide eyes. You really should’ve just gone to bed.
“That’s bullshit and you know it.” He moved to stand up, but so did you. Whatever he was about to do, you didn’t want to be part of it. “You can’t just say something like that and pretend like I’m not supposed to care about it.” A mixture of emotions flashed over his face, and you couldn’t quite pinpoint what his exact feelings were at this point, nor did you feel like figuring it out.
“Jesper, stop it.”
“No, I won’t. This does concern me, and I have every right to care about it.”
“We both say stuff we don’t mean. That doesn’t mean that we have to talk about it.” Jesper’s expression changed to one of exasperation. For the first time since knowing him, he looked genuinely mad.
“Stuff we don’t mean? Ignoring me for a week because of this issue doesn’t really feel like you didn’t mean it.” He tried to take a step towards you, but the closer he got, the further you stepped back. “Just talk to me, please!”
“Would you mind just shutting up? I don’t have feelings for you. This comment meant nothing, no matter how much you might read into it.” You didn’t mean to say that. You didn’t mean to yell at him. You didn’t mean to hurt him. But you did.
He was quiet for a moment. You saw the way his lips quivered, trying to bite back the hurt you had caused. You had never yelled at him before. Not even when anyone else would’ve probably been close to murdering him.
“Goodnight, Jesper.” You didn’t wait for him to reply. Without sparing him another glance, you dashed out of the room, flying up the stairs to your room before he could think about following you. You felt utterly terrible, and the only thing you wanted to do now was cry. Saints, you felt stupid.
“Y/N!” His voice paired with the sound of his footsteps followed you up the stairs. Can’t he just take a hint? Before you could even reach your room, he seized your wrist to spin you around. “I’m not letting you ignore me for another week.”
“Jes-”
“No, you’re not doing this again. You’re not shutting me out again.” His grip on your wrist tightened as he spoke, his gray eyes piercing yours intently. “You can talk to me about this. Please talk to me about this.” Even though everything inside you screamed at you to push him away, you simply nodded, dragging him with you towards your room, since you didn’t intend on airing out your personal problems in the middle of the Slat.
“I love you.” As soon as the door shut behind him, the three words you had dreaded saying out loud just tumbled out of your mouth. Jesper, who was still holding onto your hand, was caught completely off-guard by that confession. He had already roughly put together what was going on, but he hadn’t expected you to actually say it. “And I hate that I do. Because whether I would have kept it a secret or not, it would always have an effect on our friendship, and I never wanted that to-”
His lips were suddenly pressed against yours, his hands moving to hold onto your hips while you were rendered completely speechless. After taking a second to sort your thoughts out, you returned his gesture, allowing your arms to wrap around his neck, bringing him down a bit closer to you in the process. The kiss was messy and uncoordinated, you were sure that if he had leaned a bit further towards you, it would have ended in him toppling on top of you. All of the nervousness you had felt earlier was gone, replaced by a strong sense of warmth spreading inside your stomach. He liked you back.
“Maybe changing something about our friendship isn’t so bad after all.” You whispered before leaning in a second time, which he graciously accepted.

Hello!I saw your requests are open and I'm so excited because you're such a good writer!! If it's alright, could you please write "If we have to leave our bed today, I will kill the resin we have to" hugs from your prompt list with Kaz x Reader? Maybe when he's a little older maybe late 20's and is a lot more comfy with touch (still has bad days/moments of complete touch aversion of course) but maybe he's slightly touch starved if anything in this fic? Thank you xx
Autumn- K.B x gn! reader
Hi!! This request was very fun--I always love writing/reading these types of fics because what can I say, my favs deserve to grow and change--so thank you for sending it in!
I know I'm probably starting to sound like a bit of a broken record with it now, but I am also very sorry for how long this took! I've been meaning to write it since it came in but life and motivation slipped away for a bit there. I hope you like it despite how long it took and again, I am SO SORRY!!
Fic type- this is so so so SO fluffy!!
Warnings- there's a couple of mentions of anxiety in relation to his touch aversion and kaz's touch aversion is discussed a lot. Kaz is also probably a little ooc, and this was written at around half past midnight and then queued for later, so the editing might not be as good as it could be
Tumblr media
As Kaz woke, he found that the first day of autumn was to be your favorite kind of day. The kind where the leaves had already begun to change colors, the kind where a downpour hit Ketterdam, the kind where such a downpour still didn't manage to drive the pigeons away from the clubs and the two of you had not a thing to worry about in the world because you refused to allow yourselves that kind of worrying.
One of his arms was draped over your waist, his chin against your shoulder, and his heart kicking off at a racing pace because of it.
Waking up like that still sometimes sent his body off into a thousand different directions, each one more fervently anxious than the last, but the come-down from the anxiety and the anxiety itself had been easier to get through as time went on.
Kaz ghosted his lips against your shoulder. Everything is fine, he told himself. I am fine. I am holding the person I love, and they are alive, too, and we are alive together.
He felt you stir, wrap your arms around his waist, and effectively pull him into a hug.
You pulled away after a minute, and Kaz's hand moved up, gently tracing your lips.
"Any obligations?" You asked.
"None of note," Kaz said. "Or--none that I am unwilling to leave to tomorrow."
You grinned. "So, a day in bed it is, then?"
One of your arms moved to rest against his shoulder, your hand finding his hair like it were clockwork.
"If such is what you fancy," Kaz said. "I, of course, fancy it too."
You laughed. Kaz pulled you closer and you let him, content to be wrapped within the embrace that it had taken him a decade to be able to pull you into.
Kaz's touch aversion had been something that you never really minded. You loved him regardless of the fact that he couldn't touch you, and his actions made up for all of the hugs, kisses, and affections in the world anyway.
But, when you were eighteen and Kaz found that the mere idea of holding your hand was something with which he still struggled, he decided he was going to find a way to get better.
He wanted to do it for you, for every wistful smile you gave when you watched Matthias press a quick kiss to Ninas cheekbone, for every single one you gave when you would notice Jesper approaching Wylan, only to wrap his arms around Wylans shoulders and press a kiss to his forehead when Wylan leaned back and said hello.
But, on the other side of that coin, Kaz decided to do it for himself. Jordie had died when he was nine, and while he wasn't sure he would ever stop grieving the brother he'd lost to Pekka and his cons, he knew that he could not scorn the idea of touching others forever. He could not forever put off the idea of ending a business deal with the shake of a hand in his ungloved one, couldn't forever glare at people who'd dared touch his arms or hands or shoulders in passing.
A decade had gone by since he'd made that decision, and all in all it seemed to have paid off.
Sure, there were indeed bad days, but that was to be expected. Things like a long lasting touch aversion don't just go away overnight, and Kaz knew that. You knew it, too, and you didn't fault him for those bad days whatsoever.
"I love you," you said as Kaz pulled away enough to press a kiss to your forehead. "I love you so much."
"I love you too," Kaz said, part of him cringing at how long it had taken him to repeat the words back. The two of you had started dating when you were eighteen and Kaz couldn't say the words until you were twenty-three, when you'd already been saying them for a year and telling him that his actions spoke louder than his words and that you didn't need to hear him say it back.
He'd stopped viewing love as weakness at twenty-three, when an old but well respected gang associate had told him that trying to think love made him anything but strong was idiotic while the group was on a heist in Ravka.
The bloke was seventy, maybe, and had apparently adopted that mindset early on into his life. He'd kept it up til he was in his fifties and cost himself a family, a partner. Thinking of love as a weakness was something he'd gone on to regret, and while he'd indeed found the love of his life at fifty-two, he still regretted all else that the mindset had cost him.
Loving you, he realized, made him strong. On his most difficult days, you were there to offer a listening ear and a solution.
Love was not a weakness, as it turned out, and some days, despite what the seventeen year old Kaz Brekker might've said if he knew, love was what kept twenty-eight year old Kaz Brekker going.
One of your hands treaded through his hair before moving down his forehead, along the scope of his nose and his cheekbones, then his chin and his lips and the center of his neck, finding the divot at it's end that indicated the middle of his collarbone.
Kaz decided, in that moment, he would kill the reason you needed to leave your shared bedroom if one came up. He loved moments like those as much as you did, cherished them with everything he had because they were few and far between.
You pulled him down just a bit, pressed a kiss to his forehead and then a quick peck to his lips after he'd nodded and affirmed it was okay to, and Kaz looked at you and all that he could think of was the fact that you were so close.
You were so close to him, and he was so close to you, and he didn't want to do anything more than get closer.
"I love you," he said, breathless and touch starved and full of enough yearning to last five lifetimes.
"I love you too," you responded. Kaz's lips dipped near yours, and when you nodded, he kissed you.
It was kiss that said everything that Kaz couldn't manage to form into words, gratitude and joy and contentedness and sheer, undying and fiery love.
When Kaz pulled away, you were grinning, and so was he.
Eventually the two of you drifted off to sleep again, the only thoughts in your minds having been how much of a joy it was to be in the others company.

Parental Preferences #1
Summary: What kind of parent I think each SaB character is.
Warnings: None, really.
Fem!child!reader
———
Kaz Brekker:
Kaz is more of a paranoid parent, because he doesn’t want you to go through what he did as a child. However, he secretly enjoys teaching you little (unethical) tricks like picking locks, pickpocketing, and stealing. Magic, on the other hand, is something by you both enjoy learning.
He’s not very physically affectionate, but he will give you the occasional headpat or smile when he want to show you affection. He is, however, a strict parent, and that means you will come home at curfew, otherwise there will be consequences.
This man will protect you from anything potentially scarring till he thinks it’s okay for you to help or see him smash someone’s head in.
———————-
Inej Ghafa:
She’s pretty lenient as a parent, not gonna lie. She does enjoy a good run or workout with you, and genuinely wants you to be much more than just a smaller version of her.
However, there are rules. And you will follow the rules. This includes no stealing, no murder, and absolutely no taking Jesper as an example to do anything.
But, this woman will give you the world if she must. She is protective, yes, because she obviously doesn’t want you to go through what she did.
Inej is an affectionate parent, though. Hugs, head kisses, head pats, everything! Cuddling is kind of a tentative, though. That’s a bit too much of a close proximity.
———————-
Jesper Fahey
More than a parent, he is like an annoying older brother. While he is, indeed, a very lenient parent, he is also kind of irresponsible. Not like a ‘forgot-to-feed-mini-human’ irresponsible, more like ‘oh-shit-I-left-my-guns-in-child’s-reach’ irresponsible.
However, this man will protect you from everything bad in the world, and he’s very, very, very available. Like, “oh, you have girl problems? I will fix it.” Or “Well damn, looks like someone’s in a bad mood. Time for target practice.”
He’s not entirely controlling, but he’s a worrier, so naturally you have a curfew. If you don’t adhere to it, you’ll probably come home to your dad a crying, blubbering mess on the floor.
Affection is definitely his middle name. Kaz will 100% find Jesper not moving from the couch because you’re asleep in his lap, or Jesper will absolutely smother you with hugs and head kisses when he’s happy for you. He will, also, do the crazy dad thing where the father tosses his child up in the air and catches them.
This also happens to give Wylan a heart attack every single time.
Wylan Van Eck
This poor child has no clue what in the ten hells he’s supposed to do. But, he takes tips from everyone and gradually gets the hang of being a girl dad.
He’s hesitant with affection, yes, but there are moments where he does give you a lil headpat or head kiss.
Wylan’s more of a ‘do whatever you want but don’t die’ kind of parent, but he’s got a balance of ‘oh my god please don’t do that I will kill myself if you get hurt’ as well.
Wylan’s pretty fun, though. He’ll make your hair in different styles and teach you random chemistry stuff at the same time.
———————-
Nina Zenik
She’s a very chill parent, but if you cross a boundary or break a rule, she will definitely get mad at you. She’s got a really good intuition, so it’s difficult for you to hide anything from her.
Again, you have a curfew, you will stick to the damn curfew even if it kills you because otherwise she will go ballistic.
When it comes to affection, this woman will absolutely smother you in kisses and hugs and love at every given point in time. It increases hundredfold when she’s happy with something you’ve done, as well.
Nina definitely loves to teach you about people and the way human beings’ insides work, so by a pretty early age you’re aware of where there’s close to no blood when you stab someone, and what to hit hard enough to paralyse a bitch.
———————-
Aleksander Morozov
This man. He is not a strict parent, but he’s definitely stern when required. But he will spoil you with so many things like books, clothes, toys, and most of all: LOVE!!
But rules are simple: Do not disturb during a meeting, do not be rude, and don’t break anything.
Curfew…can be violated because you, are not allowed outside the grounds of the Little Palace unless you’re accompanied by another Grisha OR by a guard, OR by Aleksander himself. Sorry, hon <3
Not to forget, he will literally destroy whatever force decides to harm you. Aleksander is kind of a default girl dad, ngl, because he pretty much knows everything about women and girls thanks to Baghra.
———————-
Alina Starkov
To be honest, Alina’s more like an older sister than a mom. She’s fun to be with, and is forever teaching you how to make flower crowns, how to draw landscapes and animals, all sorts of things!
She’s not exactly strict, but will definitely tell you off if you don’t listen to an instruction or disobey a direct order.
Curfew. Everyone. Has. A. Curfew. You do not violate the curfew otherwise she will be very, very upset.
Alina is the most affectionate parent EVER. Like, there is not a single moment where this woman is not smothering you with love and affection. Hugs, head kisses, forehead kisses, head apts, you name it, she will give it to you.
She feels especially proud when you figure out how to do things yourself, like fix a broken toy, mend a fence, little odd jobs here and there. She definitely encourages you reading and spends a lot of her money on buying you books and more books! Not to forget art supplies <33
———————-
Zoya Nazyalensky
She is a mix of a ‘tough love’ mom and a ‘soft love’ mom. Like, yes she will encourage you to do what you want, but she will reprimand you for not doing as instructed. Hiding stuff from her is extremely difficult, and Zoya definitely is more curt sometimes than polite.
She is definitely strict about curfew and attire, so you always happen to be in the fittest attire everywhere.
She is, however, an excellent parent because she makes sure you’re well read, and well trained to defend yourself, and she also makes sure you’re amply loved.
Affection is not really Zoya’s thing, so she shows you her love in other ways like through quality time, or food, maybe even a random workout.
And god forbid if anything hurts you.
—————-
Expect a part two with more characters <333 until then!
