I respect that post about "found family" being misused as a term because people overlay nuclear family structures but actually I rarely see that. It is far more frequent to see people trying to force speedrun a group of loosely connected characters into a lifelong bond so they can call it found family, OR getting mad that a genuinely tight-knit group still has their own separate lives outside just each other and don't all live in one big house. Found family can be great but sometimes characters are just friends or not even that, and that doesn't mean the story is any worse for it. And even if they are a found family that does not mean they will always get along nor constantly be within ten feet of each other until the end of time.

say it with me everybody: personal health is completely immaterial to morality, including mental health. leading a mentally unhealthy lifestyle (or what you perceive as a mentally unhealthy lifestyle) does not a bad person make. no one has to socialize, exercise, have healthy coping mechanisms, or lead (what you perceive as) a fulfilling life with fulfilling hobbies in the same way that no one has to go to the doctor to get a broken bone reset. both of those types of management of personal health are likely to be beneficial to the individual, but they are in no way moral requirements or debts owed to society. they do not actually say anything about a person's principles, personality, or actions towards others. additionally, people know themselves and their own situations better than you do. maybe a person judges that the physical and financial toll of going to the doctor outweigh the benefit of getting their bone reset, maybe a person just does not have the capacity to develop healthy coping mechanisms at this point in their life, and yes, maybe a person feels like they are totally fulfilled by "media based" hobbies alone and would feel no difference in their life if they picked up a loom. just like. let people be sick without accusing them of being representative of the lazy, degenerated state of modern society.

there are a lot of daddy issues to go around on DS9 in general, but odo, bashir and garak are really in their own special little fucked up 'what am I but wrought in my father's image' club

sure you need to exercise and sleep and eat well. but gyns, you really, really, really need to de-stress as much as possible. if that means deleting your social media, or regulating/restricting it severely, or cutting off idk how many other toxic relationships you need to get on that. you need to find or build a healthy community. that is an integral part of your health.
it is toxic to your body to be bombarded by horrifying news each morning you log onto your phone. it is toxic to your body to be in constant hypervigilance. it is toxic to your body to be hyper-aware of all the awful things that are happening or could happen. your brain should not be in constant hypervigilance.
if you want to do activism, it needs to become less reactive and more strategic. meaning, no replying to ugly comments. read a feminist book instead, donate to feminist organizations instead. you don't have to stay in radfem IG, twitter, tumblr, reddit or whatever to continue being feminist. yes, perhaps these are the only places you can access feminist community where you're at right now, but even then, you've got to get in control of it.
cut off the males in your life that leech your energy, whether mental or otherwise. stop negotiating about it. it doesn't have to be a dramatic bridge-burning. you could just disengage. (this applies to your mother or any other codependent relationship) remain friendly without being a friend. even toxic female friendships. if your negative friendships outweigh your positive ones, you have serious house cleaning to do. because those are affecting your health.
put more energy into making positive connections (they do not have to be deep or dedicated, just positive) with the women around you. the woman who works at the pharmacy, or the plumber, idk. just foster positive attitudes with the people around you.
and de-stress, de-stress, de-stress. practice mindfulness, keep a clean gut, sleep better. this is your life we're talking about.

Okay two things.
First of all, um, excuse me, but why did 2000 of you decide to follow me in the last week??? I hope you know the consequences of your actions (frogs)
And secondly, who exactly at tumblr dot com put a 'click for frogs' button at the top of tumblr, that turns into a playable keyboard of croaking frogs when you click it‽ I wish to send them a gift basket.

I can't believe the message of crystallized was that Lloyd needed to stop suppressing his anger and instead learn to let it out and let it go and channel it in healthy and productive ways instead of the unhealthy ways it'd previously shown itself in. I can't believe that was the message and he beat the overlord's ass in oni form as a symbol of how using your anger to your advantage instead of letting it hurt the ones you love and yourself is important. I can't believe that's what happened guys. Right guys

Everything else notwithstanding, I firmly think that SJ's rage towards YQY - regardless of how you feel about the degree to which he acted out towards him - was reasonable given that he believes (with justification given the little info he has) that his one childhood friend, who knew very well the vicious abuse he was experiencing, just fucked off to live the good life he found and left him to suffer. Like completely separate from anything else, I don't see how hating someone who to your knowledge abandoned you to die, even if they're sorry/guilty once they saw you survived, is wrongheaded or misguided. I honestly saw their whole relationship as emblematic of the prominent themes of miscommunication in SVSSS, on YQY's side due to a mixture of feeling like he's sparing the other party and his own trauma. A direct parallel (and later a foil) to SY and LBH at the abyss.

B'Elanna, Neelix, Tuvok and Chakotay needed to star in an episode where they just talked about their different beliefs and approaches to spirituality/religion. Paired off and all together. I need to gain more insight. I need characterization and I need it to be messy.
#B'Elanna's difficulty with Klingon myths and religion (especially due to her internalized racism)#Chakotay's current strong belief in his own spirituality despite his initial complete rejection of it (and how B'Elanna seems to admire#and have talked with Chakotay about it extensively in the past given how many specifics she's aware of)#Neelix's belief in an afterlife being the only thing that comforted him after his entire family was killed - the knowledge that he would be#able to reunite with them again and that knowledge being ripped away from him#Does he still believe? Are there other aspects of his previous spiritual beliefs that are thrown into question?#Just because it isn't 'real' does it make it unimportant? How do we even know whether or not it's 'real'?#He died and doesn't remember reaching that tree and seeing his family - does that mean it didn't happen?#Tuvok's line in 'Innocence' about how he's begun to have doubts about whether or not a katra exists and what happens after someone dies#and his firm ties to Vulcan spirituality and ritual#ALL SO INTERESTING!!!!!!!!#star trek voyager#I don't think it'd be a calm or healthy conversation either - they're not therapists and I don't think anyone but Chakotay#would be particularly careful with his words#and before you say Tuvok's a Vulcan so he would be let me remind you that Tuvok told B'Elanna to her face that he thought Klingons#were basically savages - he is INDELICATE to say the least#Neelix is careful with his words bc he's a people pleaser for survival but also he has a tendency to bother people and be overly pushy#and I think he'd do a lot of research and be the one leading the conversation/the reason they get on the topic and continue on it#B'Elanna wouldn't want to talk about it. She wants to talk about it the least. But she must!!!! Bc the episode demands it!!#st voy

Rodent Brainrot
I NEEDED TO WRITE THIS DOWN BEFORE MY BRAIN EXPLODED OMG,,,
Okay so Dead Plate Canon Divergence AU—probably OOC because there's no murder involved— Vincent does not turn Manon into a gourmet meal, he just tells her he's not interested and they part ways. The rest of the game goes on normally; Vincent is still obsessively fixated on Rody while Rody's hung up over Manon. And GET THIS,,,Manon eventually calls Rody back after he keeps insistently calling her every night, and straight up tells him to stop. She tells him to please focus on himself for once, and to stop trying to contact her. She doesn't want to get back together again, she's seriously exhausted by how self-destructive he is. The phone call ends and,,,Rody starts coughing. He spits out the strange lump in his throat and there, in his palm, sits a yellow carnation.
This is where everything falls apart. So he decides that, hey, maybe quitting such a well-paying job after a week just for the sake of winning back his ex was NOT a good idea. So he stays. He sneaks in bundles of yellow whenever he has to take out the trash in his shifts, fixes up his apartment, and he tries to be,,,better. But still holding onto the hope that one day Manon will come back. He ignores the way the mere thought of her makes his lungs feel heavier.
And all the while? Vincent is right there, still uncomfortably observing his every move. But one day, he invites him over to his place. No dinner party to cater, just two cups of tea. Rody remarks at how surprising it is to see his boss drinking anything that isn't red wine or black coffee, but then Vincent says he made the blend himself. Curious, he tries a sip and,,,it's incredible. A light, floral feel and then a citrus-y aftertaste—Vincent did say he liked lemons. He's never been a fan of tea, but there's just something so sincere about it that soothes all of his worries. When was the last time he just sat down with someone, a mug warming both his hands and heart? No worries about how he's acting, what next big thing he must attempt to keep the affection of those around him—of her. So he looks at Vincent and tells him,
"It tastes like love."
