thronecoming heritage hall gifts (rewritten)

The Thronecoming heritage hall gifts bug me. Most of them don’t feel like a parent has gifted them. They are so uninspired for the biggest moment in their child’s life.

I’ve listed my replacements below. I’m hoping for the gifts to have a, if had-to-do-it-again-here’s-what-I’d-want vibe.

blondie lockes

OG gift: running shoes

rewritten gift: a new piece of tech that helps her with her mirror cast. A shiny new microphone or even just a cute news reporter accessory that acknowledges her unintended break from destiny (or rather extremely developed hobby/career because her story can be over in like 30 minutes) it also gives off the initial impression that blondie’s story is “just right” the way it is until.. boom! There’s a note.

That mentions that as Goldilocks has reflected on her role and how she regrets hurting the bears the ways she has* and with an extra perceptive daughter like blondie she is sure to find a worthy story (within bounds) that won’t cause baby bear to develop a complex. *insert long list of things here that blondie could comment on in her stead because the story book of legends didn’t write every worthwhile critique of the bear house and the bears despite “forgiving” her won’t let her talk to them about this* and a small comment of how she is super proud about blondie that hopefully eases some of her attention seeking behavior so she’s less of a brat later on.

cerise hood:

OG Gift: picnic basket with an electronic mirror lock.

revised gift: honestly I have no comment. This is a great gift. My only question is how recently the presents are placed in the hall seeing as how that basket spit up a whole bird leg. Maybe it has a special note of the picnic menu they have in celebration once the whole shebang is done.

o hair twins:

OG gift floating hair brushes

rewritten gift given how Rapunzel’s story is that she was locked away her whole life because her bio mom ate a magical plant while pregnant that the witch wasn’t sure of the side effects of and had to lock her away because damn sure bio parents couldn’t do anything if the witch was second guessing herself. What I think should be there are odd bits an bobs function like an Easter egg hunt of a map and post fairytale notes one what they are that Rapunzel is certain her girls can figure out because they have her plant powers (though probably diluted hence the helpful notes incase they have to solve things like their adoptive grandma ).

NOW FOR THE GIRL WHO INSPIRED THIS POST. Her gift makes me so angry. It is the most nothing gift of the whole bunch. You mean to tell me that a hundred year sleep doesn’t come with any regrets at all? Not one thing?

OG gift A neck pillow.

revised gift: A SCRAPBOOK. The first few pages could be filled with pictures of her family. Bonus points if they’re are people Briar wouldn’t have gotten the chance to meet but knows who they are by virtue of her mom. It hits home exactly how big her sacrifice is. Also all the storybook imagery? The intro? Imagine if there was a dark time line where we were being told everything that happen through briar who missed all of it and is trying to piece back something familiar?

either way, mental breakdown and existential crisis guaranteed.

also bonus. It’s totally merchandisable. Half the book mercy was essentially scrapbooks/concept art anyhow.

Cedar wood: revealer rays

it’s a good gift but something she wouldn’t be able to use in her story at all. They are not subtle and most everyone who knows about Cedar knows that Pinocchio didn’t mess up her eyes to the point she’d feasibly need glasses. Revised gift: letters from the blue fairy (well wishes, maybe an helpful hint or two) Gepetto and Pinocchio (things to to try (and not repeat) once she’s no longer wooden and how to lie effectively) I can’t think of a physical possession for Cedar to have. But I feel she’d appreciate these. Maybe a special cricket/donkey whistle?

duchess swan:

no gift shown but what I have in mind is a mix of briar and blondie’s gift.

a collection of letters (written on leaves and paper or something) from both her mom and her bio dad detailing the bitter sweet love in the tragedy to reassure duchess it’s not all bad. And a special pair of dancing shoes for her last night as a human. I imagine this gift would only make duchess mad.

Madeline hatter:

no gift shown and honestly idk what the mad hatter gives his daughter it’s probably perfect. An old hat that looks very normal actually? A crazy new teapot? Who knows?

raven queen:

og gift wand wishing well coin

honestly I want to know the logic behind the wand. Is it a back up battery in case apple thwarts raven through zapping away her powers somehow?

something that originally belonged to someone in the Snow White family that she is proud enough to share with her daughter (raven would probably give it back).

It is Monday, and that means books! This is the series Summer of 1969 Road Trip by Princip1914. It's a fantastic story, absolutely full of longing and mid-century Americana vibes, and by far the shortest thing I've ever bound at just over 6k words over 48 pages. It's tiny. I was stumped on how to do the cover for a bit until I realized that a quarto-sized sheet of regular printer paper is about the same size as a polaroid photo, with a nice plain border to write the title in, and it fit the feel of the story so well I had to do it. It's one of the most complicated covers I've ever done. There's a layer of thin chipboard with a square hole cut it in, with this thick white paper wrapped around it, and there's a thicker board with this era-appropriate photo glued to the front of it, and then you line up the hole with the photo, sandwich them together and glue the outer edge of the white paper down around all the layers. Then I attached it to the text block and did the HTV for the title text. So many layers. But so very worth it, it's exactly what I wanted.

More pics under the cut! This one's super cute but it was challenging.

The endpapers are scrapbook paper printed with maps of the US. I saw them and knew they'd be perfect and I was right. There were come complications, though--that black border was not in the original plans. A couple of weeks ago I posted about making a case too big and then casing in the text block too far forward so it didn't open correctly. That was this book. I had to carefully peel up the endpapers from the case (only the back one came up; the front one had to be cut out and replaced entirely), then re-glue it further back. But the peeling process left some residue on the white cover paper, so I added some black cardstock to cover that before I tried casing in again. The case has a little bit of skew that wouldn't have been obvious if not for this mishap, but the black layer makes it really stand out, especially in the front. My other option would have been remaking the case entirely, but this was the second to last step and I decided to just live with it. It's handmade, and it's going to have imperfections. I think it's cute.

Top view. Very skinny. So skinny I was worried I wouldn't be able to do endbands and a bookmark like I usually do. I really like having those features, they make the book feel finished and professional, so I was glad they worked out. Was challenging to cut the endbands that small, though. I kept worrying I'd drop one and never see it again.

Interior images. I had fun playing with fonts on this one. I wanted the story titles to be fully in the fancy font but they looked really weird that way. The stories in this series are short but have very long titles, and since it's a quarto size book I scaled the fonts all down a little from what I use on the folio books. The fancy font was just too busy and crowded for the whole title at this size. This was my solution and I actually really like it, it looks so nice.

As cute as the results are, and as much as I love them and this story, I'm not sure I'll do another this length with this kind of flat-backed binding. It really was a challenge getting all the measurements right. I may learn another style for doing short fics in the future. Nonetheless, rarely has a book come out looking so close to what I pictured when I first start planning it, and I'm super proud of that complicated cover even though it was a bastard to put together.

the way i have absolutely flooded the kubosai tag is crazy😭most of the recent posts are mine.. my bad..

... anyway, im thinking about kuboyasu picking up different hobbies as a form of anger management, teaching himself coping mechanisms and to use his hands in more gentle ways and let himself make mistakes without taking his anger out in unhealthy ways..

knitting, crocheting, art (he already draws but he wants to do it more and start painting n stuff too), or even scrapbooking or journaling ?? he also already stress bakes/cooks lol.

and since he does it so much, he has so many little pieces of art and he ends up gifting most of them to saiki.. because kubo thinks theyre crappy, but saikis eyes lit up in a way kubo doesnt get to see often when he caught sight of kubos crocheted little pink cat with a suspiciously saiki-like grimace on his face.

so now saiki has all kinds of little knitted/crocheted blankets, pillow cases, stuffed animals, gloves, sweaters, etc. (he made a lot of scarves, bags, hats, coasters, etc. at first since those are easier for beginners, and at first he was keeping them for himself and his mom but the house has too many damn coasters and they do not need that many accessories and sweaters.. so the whole friend group started getting them, but mostly saiki.. and saikis mom started receiving some too).

and little paintings of cats (because kubo definitely loves cats but also saiki just reminds him of one so he draws/paints them for him a lot.. he doesn't know if saiki actually likes them, but he says he doesnt mind so..) and some cute paintings of their friends.. he makes a lot of vent art but saiki obviously does not receive that stuff☠️.

he also tried to learn yoga.. but he learns quickly that he just isnt very good at keeping his hands still and unoccupied for too long.. he might revisit that later, but for now hes just trying to at least learn slow and calculated motions with his hands..

he probably also starts helping kusuo and kurumi with their gardening (because they definitely have a garden). i doubt arens mom has a garden but i bet he could convince her to help him start one after enjoying it with the saikis so much.

the scrapbooking/journaling he mostly keeps to himself.. its mostly pictures of him and his mom, his friends, and him trying to document his feelings in messy pages of writing/doodles/choas..

i love the idea that he starts collecting stickers+fun pens+washi tape to use, which is something he totally would not normally fixate on but he starts getting really excited about it..

tbh it's probably mostly silly stickers from anime he likes, like one piece and dragonball.. a lot of his other interests like the yakuza movies wouldnt have stickers he could get so he just doodles the characters.

but he starts branching out into sillier and more colorful stuff, mostly thanks to chiyo, kokomi, kusuo, and shun. chiyo+kokomi have lots of girly stickers and glitter pens that they give him when they catch wind of the journaling..shun has lots of silly stickers from comic books and theres a surprising amount of harley quinn+poison ivy along with the mcu stuff(mostly spiderman).

chiyo+kusuo have like vocaloid+prosekai stickers, but kusuo mostly is just the reason aren has lots of bright pink+green on a lot of his pages hehe..

anyway, a lot of the gifts he gives to kusuo start getting really.. obvious ? he once gives him this crocheted pink cat with a blank expression and a purple dog whose taller and smiling, both wearing glasses, that are permanently knitted together holding hands☠️and kusuo just.. accepts it. and a lot of the stuff he receives along with their other friends are suspiciously more detailed than everyone elses and there are a lot of hearts and the cat+dog thing becomes a frequent motif and theres so many coffee jelly stuffies and keychains its insane

shun will get like.. a black and red sweater, meanwhile kusuo gets a purple sweater covered in pink hearts+matching gloves+a scarf+socks+a tote bag+a headband ??? aren are ur hands okay seriously

kusuo keeps every single gift obviously, and the first dog+cat plushies along with some other gifts are on his desk so he can look at them literally all the time..

yet somehow they arent dating yet😭aren basically professed his undying love with all the hearts and romantic ass offerings but neither of them have really said anything out loud yet☠️☠️

Jumins Notebook

Inspired by this conversation i had with @marshmallowprotection

You find Jumin’s notebook on the kitchen table. You take a peek and it’s contents shock you, in the best way possible.

Just a cute and fluffy self-insert drabble/one shot, suitable for all readers~

You wake up around your usual time on a sunday morning. Wanting to cuddle with your beloved, you reach over to the other side of the bed. Your hand touches something soft, warm and fuzzy. “Ah Elizabeth”, a sigh escapes your mouth as you remember that Jumin must have already left, for an important meeting with a distillery owner.

Your stomach is starting to growl. You stretch. One of those morning stretches that cracks every bone in your body. After getting up, you lazily make your way to the kitchen and put on a pot of coffee. Still half asleep you reach into the fridge for some overnight oats that were prepared yesterday.

Sitting at the table to enjoy your breakfast you notice a notebook laying there, titled “Of The Most Importance”. “Ah, Jumin must have forgotten it”, you think to yourself. While eating your breakfast, you can’t help but keep eyeing the book right beside you. You’re definitely not one to snoop around as you trust your husband fully and he trusts you too. But you just couldn’t help it as curiosity took over.

You open the book, slowly, anticipating of what could be so important.

The title reads:

“Huh? Me?” You wonder, “Is this notebook really about me?”

- Y/N mentioned this book called (title), i should purchase it, so I can read it as well. - Y/N seems to really like forget-me-nots, I will get them a bouquet on my way home. (Beside that, a dried forget-me-not is sticking to the page) - Y/N scrunches their nose when they think really hard. Cute. - Y/N sometimes baby-talks Elizabeth. They don’t know that I’ve heard them do that before. This always brings a smile to my face. (A printed out picture of you, cuddling Elizabeth, is glued beneath that) - Y/N snort-laughs when they find something exceptionally funny. I love it when they do that.

You catch yourself snort laughing at that comment. You cannot believe that Jumin Han, CEO and chairman-in-line, has a scrapbook. A scrapbook about YOU. “Is this real?” You think to yourself, “ There is no way. Is there really someone, who loves me so much, to have a whole notebook filled?!” A million butterflies swarm in your chest as you continue to read.

- I don’t actually really like (show title), but Y/N seems to love it. So I always watch it with them. Maybe I should get them merchandise of it?

“Oh what a sacrifice~” you say, sarcastically, even if there is no one to hear it. You chuckle. “How is he so darn cute?”

- Saw Y/N looking at a suit in the window as we walked past the clothing store. Going back later to buy it for them. (glued beside that is a printed out picture of you wearing said suit.) - Y/N always grunts when they pick something up from the floor, even if it’s not heavy at all. Very adorable, makes me chuckle. - Usually I wake before Y/N. Watching them sleep beside me fills my heart. It brings me peace and makes me feel safe. - Catching myself thinking about the future with Y/N often. Will we have children one day? I hope so. (Beside that is a stick figure drawing of two grown ups, both holding a smaller one’s hands)

“He’s thinking of having a family with me one day?”, a heat rushes to your face as you feel yourself blushing. Your thoughts are starting to drift off. This man makes you feel things you’ve never felt before. Everything he does, everything he sais, makes you fall in love even more. His presence is so warm, calm... safe. A love, a bond, that cannot be described with words alone.

*ring ring ring*

The startling noise of your phone ringing brings you back to reality. You grab it. The words My love <3 light up on the screen. Of course you pick up.

“Hey, Jumin!”

“My darling. How are you? Did you sleep well?”

“I love you so much. So much I don’t even know how to express it.” You say, very excitedly, smiling from one ear to the other, you declare “Also, yes! I do want to have a family with you one day!”

“Ah, I see. You’ve found my notebook that I’ve left.” He chuckles. “Hearing you say that makes me incredibly happy. I love you too, now and forever.”

Mikey never really understood the whole scrapbooking thing himself, but he didn’t mind it. After all, he knew you really loved to do it, and if it made you happy, then that’s all that mattered.

In fact, he really didn’t mind being a test subject for somethings. When you wanted to mess with your camera a bit, he would absolutely be the test subject you’d take a picture of. If you simply wanted his opinion on something, he’d tell you, but of course, to him everything you do is amazing.

If anything, he found it cute, especially when he saw how excited you got when making the final product.

He found it even more adorable when you took it upon yourself to make a scrapbook for Toman.

That little scrapbook was full of some of his favorite memories, and it would always be something close to his heart. It showed so many of all the fun moments he and Toman had together, and it just made him smile

He loved it. And now, you’re making another scrapbook for him!

Lately, Mikey had been particularly stressed, and you wanted to do something to make him feel better. So, you decided to do something you knew he would love.

You made a scrapbook full of pictures, objects, and just little things from your relationship. It was full of things from Mikey’s favorite times, and just little things to represent your amazing love. You added all these cute things like love letters, 4-leave clovers, drawings, and little things you knew would represent and bring good luck in your relationship.

Honestly, this scrapbook was something that was very close to your heart. And now that it was done and you were about to give it to Mikey, you hoped it would do the same for him.

Excitedly, you knocked on the door to Mikey’s room/garage and waited for him. You were bouncing up and down while you excitedly hugged the scrapbook close to your chest. You could feel your heart pounding while the anticipation killed you.

After what seemed like forever, a messy-haired, droopy-eyed Mikey opened the door. He seemed a little surprised to see you, but nonetheless, he was excited, and he sweetly smiled at you.

Of course, while he led you in, he also noticed the book in your hands, and curiously, he looked at it.

“What’s that?” Mikey asked, pointing at the book. Casually he sat down on the couch and plopped you down next to him. Then, he leaned in closer to you and your scrapbook.

“Hmmm this?” you began, handing the book over to Mikey. “It’s for you!”

“For me? Why? Did I miss something?” You could practically see panic set in on Mikey’s face. Clearly, he thought he forgot something.

“No! You just seemed so stressed lately…I wanted to give you something to make you feel better!”

A slight blush appeared on Mikey’s face before he sweetly smiled at you. “Thanks babe”

“Of course…. Now open it!”

Curiously, Mikey looked over the front of the book before he finally set it down on his lap and opened it. At first, when he first opened it, he was just shocked. His mouth was agape, and he slowly ran his finger over the pictures. But as he flipped through each page with so many good memories and so many words of love, he found himself tearing up.

Each page really did bring every happy moment with you to life. It made his stresses go away and filled his heart with love. He couldn’t help but tear up from it all. It was just so…. nice. It had been a while since he felt so happy.

“Mikey?!” you yelled, noticing your crying boyfriend, immediately, you wrapped your arms around his face and let him rest his head on your shoulder.

“Thank you Y/n…. thank you so much”

That one scrapbook indeed filled Mikey’s heart to the brim. It became one of his most treasured items, and any time he felt down, he would flip through those pages and remember how much love and happiness there really is.

You really are Mikey’s heart, and that really showed through on each page of the book.

Mikey really does love you more than anything~

chifuyu

Chifuyu always loves how excited you get when it comes to scrapbooking.

He loves being able to see the huge smile on your face every time you take a picture of him, and especially of Peke J. It always warmed his heart to see your eyes shine when you made your friends or family scrapbooks of their own, and he always happily listened while you went on rants about what you’re going to do and how you’re going to do it.

He loves being able to look through all the scrapbooks you make and really just looks up to how much work you put into them. He hoped one day he would get his own, but as far as Chifuyu was concerned he had you, and that was more than enough.

Little did he know that for your 1-year anniversary, you were actually making him his own scrapbook, and this one was the one you had out the most work in.

You put in tons of cute pictures and tons of memories with Chifuyu. There were pictures of dates you both had been on, simple pictures of lazy days with Chifuyu, pictures of you hugging and kissing him. You put in every picture you could find that brought back happy memories.

You even wrote him multiple love letters and put in tons of little charms that reminded you of your relationship. You really did everything you could to show your love for Chifuyu through, and you could only hope that he would love it as much as you do.

Honestly, you were just so excited to see his reaction! And finally, after spending weeks putting the scrapbook together you were finally ready to give it to Chifuyu on the day of your 1-year.

You guys didn’t want to do much but go on a little picnic date and spend time together. You did just that, and while you and Chifuyu ate and admired the cherry blossoms, you exchanged gifts.

Chifuyu gave you a beautiful promise ring and told you all about his intention to stay with you for life. And you, gave him his favorite manga, and of course the scrapbook.

“For me?” Chifuyu asked, looking down at the beautiful, leather-covered book you handed to him.

“Mhmm! That’s your main gift”

Chifuyu could already feel himself getting excited while he looked at the book, and he hoped it was exactly what he though it was. The idea of having his own scrapbook made him so happy and he could already feel himself grinning.

“What’re you waiting for? Open it!” you happily urged.

Of course, without a moments waste, Chifuyu opened it, and boy did the tears flow immediately.

All the moments and little things that meant so much to your relationship was right there on the pages. Just seeing it all brough back so many happy memories and he just started sobbing on the first page.

Needless to say, Chifuyu absolutely adored the gift. And trust me, he always talks about the scrapbook you made and constantly was it off to other people.

It’s really something he’s not only proud of, but also just brings him joy. And with all the stuff he has to deal with, that one scrapbook ended up being his savior, and it will always hold a special place in his heart~

kazutora

Kazutora loves your hobby of scrapbooking. In fact, it fascinates him.

He loves watching you put together your scrapbooks, and truly admires the art that you put together. He thinks it’s so cool that you take so many amazing pictures and collect so many cute things all to put it in one book that shows your care and love for one person.

Honestly, it was something that made him fall for you more. And he just adores you and everything you do.

After a while, he asked you if he could help you, and soon enough, he was helping you make each scrapbook.

Hell, he even made his own!

It was honestly adorable and each time you saw him all focused on the book he was making, you fell for him harder.

Soon enough, after you saw Kazutora’s own love and fascination towards scrapbooking, you decided to make his own full of things dedicated to your relationship.

In a way, it warmed his heart. Seeing you smile and put so much love into one object showed him that there was still love in the world, and you would be the one to truly show him the full potential of that love.

You were his heart, and he was yours.

Of course, as your relationship continued, you decided that you wanted to make your now-interested boyfriend his own scrapbook, and you prayed he would absolutely fall in love with it.

Each picture you took of him you put in. The experiment pictures and the pictures of you and Sanzu happy were put in. You included pictures of you and Sanzu happily kissing hugging, along with items that you had collected on previous dates. Shells, clovers, and doodles filled the pages, and of course, at the back of the book, you wrote him a beautiful love letter full or words that truly described how much you love him.

It was honestly the book you were most proud of, you hoped that he would love it as much as you love it.

After months of collecting stuff and making the scrapbook in secret, you finally finished the book and gave it to him for his birthday.

“Huh?” Sanzu questioned, looking at beautiful hard-cover book. “What’s this?”

Sanzu was confused, but after seeing your excited look and scanning the actual book, he finally opened the HUGE scrapbook and honestly, he was frozen in shock.

But here he was with a beautiful scrapbook in his hand, and as he flipped through the pages, he found himself with a heart full of happiness.

And for the first time in a while, Sanzu found himself with a true, happy smile on his face. One that could light up the whole world.

This book was definitely something that he would treasure, and he would forever go back to it and smile from all the happy memories that are captured in it.

He loves you, and you love him. And all of that love together was really shown in a scrapbook, one that would forever be close to both of your hearts.

🤝: How did they meet in the first place? What was there first impression of each other? so, the way they met is definitely an interesting one because it all has to do and revolve around death lol.

see, ray got herself into a fatal and tragic accident, one that caused her to die on the side of a road! andrei was given her case and had later inspected her body only to see that she was seemingly brought back to life but with a bit of an undead look to her. she hadn't remembered anything about her life, ever and andrei became of help and essentially retaught her the experience of life.

anywayyy, ray's first impression of andrei was that he seemed to distance himself from time to time and that he had a bad case of sleep! she wasn't wrong, she was also confused meeting him at first BUT got all smiles after learning a bit about him.

andrei's first impression of ray was that she seemed like a sweet young woman who was very passionate about the stuff she did and wanted to learn, she was whimsical! (he would later be glad to have her in his life) he was a bit confused as to HOW she was alive but glad he found her.

🗣️: Who’s the one that will ramble on about their highly specific interest while the other just sits back and nods along? ray, 100%! one HUGE interest of hers is that of medicine, learning about the human body and educating herself on the medical field as a whole. 24/7, she's usually rambling on about it without even realizing and perhaps some might assume that annoys andrei greatly but they'd be wrong, he cares about seeing how happy ray gets over something so specific like that + he gets to see her smile!

🕊️: Give just a general domestic tidbit for em (things they like about each other, routines, habits, and just overall sweet stuff) for ray, she likes how comfortable and open andrei can be around her. usually, he's one to only mention a few details here and there about something but never go beyond that however, it's different when he's around ray and she stays being in awe about it. for andrei, he likes how passionate she gets over the things she likes, loves how deeply she cares for the world around her and LOVES her laugh, he could listen to it for hours.

their routines together start off pretty similar. they'll wake up, get dressed, sometimes ray likes to know andrei's opinion on what she's wearing for the day because she loves the reactions she'll get out of him. then, they'll have their little breakfast meals (that andrei usually makes because he's the better cook in the house LMAOO, there's a reason for that okay 🤣) and chat about what they'll do the rest of the day.

if andrei has to go to work, ray will find herself walking their (undead) cat, sid or she'll whip up another page for her scrapbook. if it's nice enough out, she'll take a dip by the lake near her and andrei's house before coming back in time to see that andrei has made it home.

just a cute little domestic routine for the two!

I really like cute notebooks, planners, scrapbooks, and calligraphy sets! I don't have a creative bone in my body when it comes to writing legibly, much less decorating planners or scrapbooking, but it seems like a good hobby!

Another a childish thing I like? I really like my happy stims! It's a sore point for me in real life, especially if other people are in the room when I stim, but I like flapping my arms or jumping up and down. The happy chemicals create more happy chemicals in an unstoppable feedback loop that has originated since childhood. :D

Ohhhh, puns! I like to grab seemingly random objects and making puns out of them!

27. What’s your favorite book? Or just one you’ve read a few times?

Oh gosh, please don't be mad at me, it's been years since I've read a book that wasn't a reference text or a manual. Can fanfictions count? From my most recent memory, even though it's been a while since I've last read it (but I have read it upwards to 10+ times over the years)... Snakeskins by Lsunnyc.

I know you like worldbuilding and lore, guess what that fanfic is composed of! (It's also one of my main inspirations to how I write nowadays. I really look up to that author and you should check them out and their ao3 if you're interested!). It's a Hetalia/Harry Potter crossover fanfic and it's... very long, but hey. It's really well written.

But an actual book? Gosh... No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai? That's one of the last few books I remember reading and that was definitely a trip. I related to the main character a bit too much and the subject matter, trajectory of the character... It really hits and there's a reason why the book has the reputation it has.

Why writing? What inspires you/ got you into it in the first place?

Okies, so I know in the past I think I admitted to having started posting fic in 2012 and my first fandom was for Tokyo Mew Mew. However! My first ever fanfic was for Sharkboy and Lavagirl and it was written on yellow legal pad and will never see the light of day ahaha!

The reason I bring that up is because when I was younger and school would let out for the summer, our class would have this ritual of throwing away our tattered old notebooks that we weren't planning on using for the next school year into the recycled bins. However, before I left for home, I would take all of the notebooks that had been dropped into the recycle bins, take them home, rip out the old notes and doodles, and then keep them over the summer.

So that I can write in them.

I started in fifth grade when I realized that it would be a waste just to let those notebooks be recycled when there were some that had tons of clean pages??? In them??? That's why I saved those poor notebooks.

The thing was, I didn't realize that I had like half a dozen or so notebooks that had clean pages that I realized... I could do things with the notebooks. So, over the course of the summers from 5-7 grade, I would write short stories (seriously, short as in like one paragraph long onto a single page and call it a day). It wasn't until the summer of 7th grade that I realized... wait, why write stories only in the summer? Why not write during the whole year instead?

At that point, I amassed a lot of notebooks and scraps of papers filled with stories. Somewhere along the way, I shifted from purely original fiction to fanfiction because it was through my first official fandom (Tokyo Mew Mew) that I realized fanfiction was a thing.

I totally thought, upon reading my first fanfic in ye old ffnet, that it was actually canon material until I checked the comments and other stories. And thus, my eyes were opened.

So yeah, come eighth grade and beyond, I began writing more fanfics in my free time and eventually, in high school, I began bringing my fanfic notebook into class so that I could work on them during breaks.

I think what really inspires me to write would be because... there are entire swathes of the story, of the behind scenes, that we never get to see in canon. You can infer a lot from subtext or hints dropped from characters alluding to events, character perceptions, etc. but there's a difference from accepting the subtext or canon as it is and... Taking what you know and then adding depth to it and transforming it into something new.

I don't know... breathing life into characters who already has an established character is so exhilarating to me! There are people out there who roll their eyes at fanfic, but like??? Writing a character and making them stay in character while also transforming them in the process??? It's creation in one of its more pure forms while also paying homage to the original creator.

There's a quote somewhere... maybe on tumblr? and this person said that writing fanfic or any sort of transformative work is like playing with the sandbox that the original creator has left behind. That's what I'm doing, I'm playing in a sandbox.

And I'm having a lot of fun with it! :D

☼New Scrapbook pages and chill days☼

Yesterday I spent pretty much all day cleaning.

I washed my sheets, my clothes, I vacuumed, and I went through all of my clothes and got rid of a bunch of stuff that I don't even look at anymore. I tidied everywhere in my room, I put away all of my art stuff, organized my little cupboard thing.

In the middle of waiting for my sheets to be washed I did some scrap booking - These pages didn't really have a specific theme, for 'Lucky, Lucky' I just wanted to put some of my 5/4 leaf clovers on display. For the other one, I just wanted something pink and dainty.

TODAY, however.

I got back from walking my dogs about 20 minutes ago and holy balls is it hot. I mentioned in a post before that I get a lot of fires where I live, so on top of it being super hot, it's also all muggy because of the smoke. Now that's not so bad on its own, but I have to walk my dogs seperatley so all of us could actually enjoy the walk rather than me getting pissed off the whole time. So I gave them about a 15 minute walk each, and I came back all sweaty and hot. It wasn't cute.

I might make another post later cause I still have some stuff to do today, and I'm hoping to get my current painting wrapped up but the smoke makes me so tired bro. I do however have a big 'ol package coming in the mail so hopefully I'm able to talk about that in the near future 😏😏😏. But for now? I'm off to take a shower.

can we embrace ugly journaling? growing up I was really invested in scrapbooking, collages and journaling.
