Through August and September, nominations for the Fanwork Awards on the Femslash Guard Discord Server are open!

You can nominate different things such as:

fanfiction

fanart

manips

videos

comments on your fanworks

moodboards, memes, meta and more

These groups are split up into many more categories, you can find them all on the discord server! They're also separated by sfw and adult content, so minors can be part of the event but everything can still be nominated somewhere.

Until nominations close on the 20th of September, we will introduce a few of the categories to you in more detail, and you can join the server or follow @theoldguardfemslashdiscord to hear about them and show the categories that haven't gotten many nominations yet some love!

If you'd asked Tango what the afterlife felt like a month ago, he'd have told you it felt cold. It felt like an explosion in your face, an arrow in your leg, and not a single person around you to mourn the casualty that was your final life.

If you'd asked him now..

Different. It's different.

Tango's hands brush up against long, swaying wheat; it's freshly grown. He doesn't know how he knows that, but he does.

As he looks up, he sees.. the ranch. Tall, meticulously crafted cobblestone walls. A shed on the side for the animals (he can still hear some cows mooing). A wooden path along the cliff. His house..

A grave for three.

The cobble feels cold on his fingers when he lays his hands on his tombstone. He could practically feel the pity of the person who crafted them. Just another grave for another loss.. Tango's blood boils when he realizes it's the same for Jimmy's, the canary's laying on the opposite side of the grave he made for the Warden. It feels like there's supposed to be a message there; something about a cemetery of failed attempts; but, if you ask him, he's a little too dead to care.

You could ask Tango a lot of things now, he really wouldn't care. All he's thinking is how stupid it was that he thought things would be different- how he thought he could make things different. For Jimmy.

His left hand comes up to his right, and he feels his ring finger, the thread tied upon it. While before it felt firm, a constant reminder of how the other end is tied to someone else, now it feels.. loose. Like somewhere along the line it had been cut, leaving Tango feeling, well.. a little cold, actually.

Tango turns towards his and Jimmy's house. He'd only lived there for a month, yet it felt more like a home than the bases on the other servers ever did. He reaches a hand up to the doorknob and—

"TANGO!"

It swings open, and he's tackled in a hug that sends them both tumbling to the ground; the grass tickles his ears a bit and they flick.

"J—Jimmy?"

Jimmy doesn't respond, only hugging him tighter for a moment before Tango taps his arm a few times in rapid succession. "Jimmy, Jimmy, babe, I can't breath."

Jimmy lets out a small gasp, sitting up in Tango's lap and cupping his face (his hands feel so, so warm). "Shit! I'm so sorry, Tango! Are you okay? Do you need me to get off you- what am I saying, of course I need to get off of you-"

"No!" Tango shouts, pushing himself up on an elbow and grabbing Jimmy's arm before he could move. He just.. didn't want to lose that warmth. "No, Jimmy, you're fine. Amazing, actually."

Nothing feels real. It feels like if Jimmy moves, everything will go cold again. He won't feel the sun on his skin, the warmth his smile carries, the blush rising up his neck onto his cheeks, dusting his face in pink. He needs to keep that warmth.

"So.." he breaks the quick silence, looking around at the ranch. In the distance he hears footsteps, some fire crackling, but he knows nobody will reach them here. "Uh.. We're dead, right? Where are we?"

Jimmy just smiles and laughs, soft and familiar, like an inside joke just to himself and Tango's heart seizes in his throat at that expression, so full of life and love as Jimmy takes Tango's hand in his own, squeezing them together for a minute as he chuckles a few times more, sighing in contentedness. "We're home, Tango."

"..Home?"

"Home."

“i think that there’s a word for this, for what you do every summer,” cassandra davis muses as she stares at the man across from her. he doesn’t look much different from their college days. he had a full beard now and she could tell that he bulked up a little, absolutely the demands of a professional diet.

“and what do i do every summer, cassie?” he humors her like they both didn’t know the only business that he had in maine was her, as much as she despised that simple fact.

“you keep coming back here like i’m going to change my mind. i’ve given you the same answer for the past three years and if you want to make it four, we can. i haven’t forgotten what you did, jeremy.”

“i-”

“you didn’t even tell me you were going to sign,” she cross her arms over her chest, staring at the man across from her. the wind from outside the cafe were they always had their yearly meeting sweeps through his hair, “you left town, changed your phone number, and i found out through twitter that you were going to boston. through twitter, jeremy.”

“i’m not the same person that i was then,” jeremy leans forward to rest against the metal table. the new weight causes both of their drinks to slosh around in their cups, “i thought that i was doing the right thing.”

“i would’ve preferred a breakup text then whatever the fuck you did,” cassie huffs, “i’m being serious here. this needs to stop.”

“are you ready to do this by yourself, cass?”

and in the two and a half months since jay had passed, no one had asked her that. it was always ‘are you okay?’ or ‘let me know if there’s anything that you need.’ like she and jay were something serious. like he hadn’t told her a week before the accident that he wanted no involvement with her or their child if she chose to keep it.

and now here she sits, across from the the man who tore her heart out just like she did every summer, contemplating his question. her hands smoothe over her stomach and she’s not immune to the way his eyes follow their path. she had thought that he was going to faint when she approached, wordlessly taking a seat across from him as his eyes stared at her midsection. she sighs, “i don’t really have a choice, jeremy.”

“there’s always a choice,” jeremy watches her for a second, “come to boston with me.”

she doesn’t even hesitate to burst out laughing at his statement. she uses one hand to grip onto the table while the other covers her mouth, “oh, you- you’re funny.”

“i wasn’t trying to be. i’m being serious, cassie.”

her laughter subsides and through teary eyes, she stares at the man across from her. he’s got a look on his face, serious like he was claiming to be, and she shakes her head, “absolutely not.”

“your parents are still in sinclair, aren’t they?” cassie was the youngest of three and once she moved away for college, her parents were quick to sell their house and move to the top of the state. she was the only one of her siblings who had hung around portland after graduating, coming back for a since of familiarity. she nods and he sends her a look, “so your closest support is six hours away.”

“what? you want me to rely on you when you’re gone half of the time?”

“that’s- it’s different,” jeremy rubs a hand over his face, “we were roommates before-”

“that was five years ago when we were fucking and then you ghosted me,” she deadpans and he groans.

“will you please just listen,” he begs and she blinks, “okay, i was a je- an asshole. what i did was textbook asshole and you don’t owe me a damn thing, okay? we can both agree on that, but i’m not just going to leave you here by yourself to raise a baby on your own.”

cassie stirs her cold coffee with her straw, “this isn’t your responsibility, jeremy.”

“i never said it was and like i said, you don’t owe me anything, but when have you ever turned down an adventure?” he quirks and eyebrow, “when we were together, we were good. i won’t put us in an apartment, i’ll get us a house where you can have your own space and i can have mine, but you can feel like you have someone there for you. you don’t even have to talk to me if you don’t want to-”

“you just want my ray of sunshine personality there all the time to keep house?” she chuckles and he sends her a wink. “i don’t have a job in boston-”

“there’s elementary schools and dance classes all over, babe, and with a resume like yours, they would be crazy not to want you.”

she allows his words to sink in for a moment before opening her mouth again, “why do you want this so bad?”

he visibly swallows a lump on his throat, “do you really want me to answer that?”

and no she didn’t because she was sure that she already knew the answer.

top 5 worst books (or series) you’ve ever read

but i’ll take top 5 best if you don’t feel like being mean 😂

uhhh top worst... let's see

1 the Twilight series (or Toilet as I call them). I was a teenager when they came out and I was curious to know what all the fuss was about. Money and time I will never get back. what a waste of a good tree.

2. Acotar: I think I liked it for about two weeks, then I gave it a re read and thought about the series and well... I realised I did not like the characters, the plot and so much more and moved to TOG. (Now they live at the local charity shop. probably someone has adopted them already)

3. The Aurora cycle. I tried the first one because I was intrigued. then I started reading and it felt as a big rip off of Babylon 5 and it made me so mad that I abandoned it altogether. Even some of the jokes were similar.

4. Final Empire (Mistborn series). I love Skyward series by Brandon so then I tried the Mistoborn series. I gave up halfway the first book. I just could not get into the story.

5. Empire of the Vampire. Sounded great on the paper. I was bored to death. I swear, reading it was painful. I tried other stuff by Jay Kristoff and struggled. Definitely not my kind of author.

If I have mentioned books you love, I am sorry. These are my personal opinions. I am not saying the books are crap. I am saying that for me were a gigantic waste of time and money.

"TOG 007 - Nile" I love that AU and I love Nile so <3

Thank you! Speaking of fusion AUs that spin out longer than they have any right to... ;)

This one is mostly vibes and a rough outline at the moment, and I haven't poked at it in a while, but maybe someday! It commits the cardinal writing sin of being an AU of my own AU, a 5+1 fic that's five ways Nile might have met Agent 007 (plus once she met Q). Basically my excuse to cram a bunch of different Bond Girl tropes into one fic, with a dash of Andy/Nile/Quynh to wrap it up.

I'm not gonna lie, my forays into femslash in this fandom have been...dispiriting for me as a writer, even though I really enjoy exploring those dynamics. But that's part of why this fic got put on the backburner. Which definitely makes me part of the problem rather than the solution, sigh. I'm working on it.

Anyway, I have very little actually written for this one yet, so here's the only snippet that qualifies as such:

"All right, listen up," her Sergeant announces. "Today's a special day, boys and girls, because we've got a playdate with the Brits. This is 2nd Lieutenant Moore, he'll be your babysitter on this op."

Nile looks the Brits over curiously as Moore outlines the mission. She already recognized the uniforms as SAS—you learn how to identify your allies pretty quick out here—but she's never worked with special ops before. Fun times. It's a small squadron: three burly men, including Moore, and one tall, lean woman, all white. On the Marines side, Nile is one of six; she and Jay are the only women. She's guessing this op has to do with the extremist cell they caught wind of on patrol last week, since this is the same crew.

Sure enough, it quickly becomes clear that this is strictly a British op, and the Marines are only here to serve as glorified escort. "And human shield, probably," Nile mutters.

Jay suppresses a grin. "Wouldn't want to get those nice uniforms all bloodstained and shit," she agrees, voice equally low.

Nile glances back over at the Brits to see the woman looking right back at her and Jay, the barest hint of a smile playing along her lips. Her eyes are a colorless sort of pale that might be green; there's a knowing glint in them. Like she knows exactly what they're thinking.
