For the HTTYD thingy— Chimeragon or Typhoomerang? 👀👀👀
Another big winged guy!! Since Typhoomerangs look so similar to Timberjacks I decided that they both get the pterosaur treatment. My hc is that they are closely related! (They also share some lineage with Monstrous Nightmares).
These guys always struck me as unhinged vultures, definitely terrifying to encounter. They are highly territorial, solitary dragons with the ability to coat themselves in flames by excreting kerosene solutions from their skin in a similar manner to Nightmares. The stripe patterns that you see are the ignition areas, which are slightly sticky. A Typhoomerang hunting in their forest territory generates quite a bit of ash, and this frequently gets stuck to the tips of their wings and head - giving the impression that they have grey markings.
Like many stoker class dragons they use their fiery displays in courtship rituals, with males burning elaborate scorch marks into the ground to attract mates. This practice is not unlike the white-spotted pufferfish courtship display, which creates radially symmetrical patterns in the sand.
With the reemergence of my Titan Uprising hyperfixation I had to give some attention to one of my favorite dragons and the first four star I’ve leveled up to full stars!
I put some twists on her design to make her look a bit more unique from her model and I think she turned out beautifully!
If you don’t know SkyWarden she’s a sort of matriarch Typhoomerang who protects and guides younger dragons and even Vikings on berk. She’s also fiercely protective of dragons and Vikings alike, which is why I wanted to design her with the look of a senior dragon.
Been feeling super super nostalgic for a while and missing HTTYD sooo… I recently started drawing my Ocs (1) again, @/the_weregoat (on ig)’s ocs (2) and Elsa with a Snow Wraith (3) because I used to be such a rise of the brave frozen tangled dragons fan! I wanna draw all the princesses with some dragons of their own eventually
I loveee Night Furies, but the dragon type that I would love to /own/ is deadass this ugly motherfucker. I loveee love love his wings, his weird ass bull horns, his big crooked muzzle. Although I did slightly tweak him, he still looks 'impossible' but hopefully less so than the tv show's original model for the Typhoomerang.
Dragon reader who's a Typhoomerang. They are usually pretty large, with creating a typhoon effect when they breathe fire. Their fire can actually create beautiful flowers from the singe marks. They are territorial and fiercely protective of their hatchlings. How would dragonformer Ratchet react to one trying to court him?
Ratchet wouldn't believe that a dragon, any dragon really would want to court him. He is old and cranky, not really a mate material... And yet, somehow he caught your attention.
You're much bigger than he is and your attempts to woo him might work on other dragons, younger dragons, but he cares very little about the fire shows anymore.
You're confused why your wooing doesn't work and while thinking you don't think where you are heading and you fly straight into a tree.
Ratchet being the medic dragon he is, rushes to treat you, but don't expect to get away without a good long scolding.
"You should look where you are flying!"
"Kids these days! You have no survival instinct...!"
"Why are you laughing at, huh!? Do I look funny to you or what!?"
You chuckled as you understood that he was cranky and mean because he cared.
"I just fell for you!" You laughed and the old dragon stares at you long and hard before smacking you... But you got closer to him!
Fully aware we see fully grown typhoomerangs be aggressive but considering how quickly Torch grew up do you think theyre often seen as aggressive because of growing pains
Brooooo that would make so much sense
They get so BIG. Like the death songs get grown up very fast, but they’re relatively small dragons as far as rideable sized dragons go, but the typhoomerangs are HUGE
So you remember how the Dragon Hunters had those guard dragon Typhoomerangs? In my imaginings of a world where Dragon Hunters become ethical dragon breeders and rescuers, Ryker ends in charge of the tribe (Viggo is a Skrill Rider over near North America with Beast) and he bonds with a Titanwing Typhoomerang over in southwest Europe, who he names Arne (Norse for 'eagle').
