It’s always better to tell the truth no matter what. Fabricating isn’t the answer. Lies are only signs of gilt. A suspiciousness you will exude and the anxiety will kill you. Be ethical.

In 'Kiss the Girl' (1997), firstly, I've seen it several times and somehow I'm only now realizing Cary Elwes (aka Lawrence from the SAW series and Desperaux from Psych) plays Ruskin Can't believe his change in accent really distracted me that badly. Like he didn't even change his face I just Could Not Make The Connection because I'm used to him sounding either American or British, respectively. Secondly, how stupid do you have to be to use the same dumb signature on your police report as you do on your taunting letter to the cops?? Like clearly Ruskin is an intelligent guy so how did he make that simple of a mistake? And it's lucky he did or else Cross wouldn't have been able to figure it out. I like the movie and all but the ending reveal could have been handled differently.
In 'Along Came a Spider' (2004), why did the girl have to die? Jezzie already had the diamonds by then. She could have just 'rescued' Megan. The investigation would have stopped and the diamonds probably would have been marked as lost or whatever when Soneji died. And they were unmarked so she could have gotten away with it. Re-kidnapping Megan to kill her only gave Cross more time to investigate and figure it out. Also the CGI of the car in the intro?? Fucking hilarious. So random and out of place for literally no good reason. And then nothing like that happens again. Also I can't believe this was technically a sequel to Kiss the Girl and I didn't realize it until I checked the character list. It's,, okay but I don't like it as much.
In 'Under Suspicion' (2000) I uh,, honestly I don't have too many comments about it. The cops were absolute disasters who let their own opinions get in the way of facts and ended up essentially framing a dude and basically completely mentally breaking him, but that's also the point of the movie so,,,, I liked how disjointed the flashbacks felt and how you can hear Henry just repeating back information at the end because he just doesn't know what the hell else to do at this point. And you still don't really know if all that stuff with Camille was just in Chantal's head or not? Like you can see at the end she's questioning herself but you still really don't know what happened.
I really like the meta aspect of 'Funny Games' (I'm specifically referring to the 2007 remake but the same goes for the 1997 original). Paul and Peter (Jerry and Tom) are just,, so Like That. They're iconic. If it weren't for the Lucky thing I would love them. Weird Awkward Chaos Boys. "I'm Paul, this is Peter - Come here, Tom. Where are your manners? Shake this man's hand" love the fact that they presumably are using fake names and then Paul just repeatedly says Tom (and Tubby). "Okay Tom" "Okay Jerry" "I just think you should watch your figure-" These two are such idiots I literally can't
Anyways I'm stuck in bed so I'm binging some movies.

"It was a daring comment, and something red flickered deep in the count’s black eyes."
"Strahd dropped the pretence of courtesy altogether, and the hint of red deep in his eyes blazed. “I would destroy you.” "
So I'm not actually sure when the belief that vampires have red eyes in D&D started, because they originally didn't. Like way back in 1e Realmslore, there are vampires who don't have red eyes (likely all of them). It might've started in 3.5e, when the descriptions in the monster manual started mentioning it?
That description of Strahd there introduces an interesting middle ground where their eyes are the same colour as they had in life, and the glowing red kind of shows up while vamps are annoyed (aka. repressing the sudden urge to rip people's faces off for mildly upsetting them, at minimum. They're sensitive sadistic megalomaniacs creatures.)
Also, I'm pretty sure if you become a vampire spawn in BG3 your eyes don't change (unless that was a bug), so accidentally or not, that lore seems present.
Astarion is either in a perpetually homicidal mood (fair), or inherited/developed a quirk when he was turned that keeps his eyes permanently red.

dockside diplomacy is a great episode because it's peak mighty nein clusterfuck combat that went so downhill so fast, yes, but also because the events of the ep cause the nein spend half of the next episode angsting about the bad choices they made and their criminal actions and having existential crises, only to immediately find out upon re-docking at nicodranas that the people they killed were known criminals with bounties on their heads and they're like. fine, actually, with the law. captain jawgrasp was killed by some "do-gooders" even lol

oh, when Orym looked right at Imogen, days after his talk with Fearne abt what to do if she switches sides, and tells her, "I'm not worried about you." and Imogen didn't insight check him, or push into his mind; she just believed him. and I believed him as well, even though it could have easily been a lie, and then Liam confirmed that Orym really did trust her when he said that. he really did believe that Imogen would stand by the Hells, and she did. she looked her mother in the eye and she didn't waver. and it's not specifically because Orym trusted her, but his trust really does mean something to Imogen. she sought him out that night for a reason.
and now the solstice is still happening but things are so different, and Imogen is one of the most vocally opposed members of the Hells to Ludinus, and the Ruby Vanguard, and Predathos. they're bad. they need to be stopped. she'll kill her mother, kill herself, if that's what needs to be done. her questions and her doubts are gone- or at least, hidden away.
and if they are not, if she's suspicious in any way, Orym has personal orders from the wise and benevolent Tempest (and she is wise and benevolent, is the thing!!) to remove her from the situation however he sees fit. to "do the thing," in the parlance used in Orym's conversation with Fearne, a phrasing acknowledged as vague even at the time. Orym, who loves Imogen, and who shows her kindness and empathy, and who stared the fathoms of nuance and pain defining the actors in this conflict in the face and rejected it in favor of revenge just last week. Orym, who told Fearne she would have to "do the thing" because he couldn't - I always assumed it was because he knew he couldn't match up to Imogen on his own, but it could just as easily be that he couldn't bear to do to her what he thinks would need to be done. Imogen still doesn't know they had that talk. the leash has been held so loose that she didn't even know it was there.
