(ugly) sweater weather a Jemily @untildawn-secretsanta gift for @ultrabananapudding (Hope you like it!!! ;D)
Emily realizes a few things while getting ready for Chris and Josh’s annual ugly sweater party: She never should’ve let Jess answer their RSVP, she never should’ve ordered this stupid kitten sweater off of Amazon, she never should’ve entered into any kind of so-called “friendship” with those dorks to begin with, and, more than anything else, this is not – repeat: NOT!!! – how most couples spend their first big holiday together, meaning there are a million better things she and Jess could be doing tonight! Luckily for her, Jess realizes all that too…and she’s got a surprise or two hidden up her sleeve. Maybe their night can still be saved!

hi hi! i saw you mention that you love doing hcs & i LOVE them, so i thought i would send in a request
i wondering if you could do hcs of what it’s like to be mike munroe’s gf (or partner if you prefer to keep it neutral!) like how he is w them, his flaws, etc.
mike munroe x (gn! reader) relationship hcs
✰ warnings: gender neutral reader, poc friendly, all hcs are sfw
✰ there is nothing i love more than doing hcs, tysm for requesting some!! i had a ton of fun writing this, so if you would like a part two, i'll do it! (i literally saw this req and immediately got up to write it) also i mentioned some poc things in here cuz i'm latino, soooo if anyone wants me to write any character x poc! reader, i am SO down.
Tumblr media
mike is a very secure, confident partner. he's perfectly fine with you having male friends or spending alone-time with a guy.
but when another guy is clearly flirting with you?
oh boy.
he would go up to you and casually sling an arm around your shoulder, subtly hinting to the other guy that you are taken. if the guy doesn't take the hint, mike would butt in the conversation and would keep referring to you as his "love" or "beloved" until the guy leaves.
he isn't afraid of confrontation or anything, he just doesn’t want to waste time on someone like that.
if mike were to meet your parents, he would be confident and casual. he'd obviously hold back on the pda and profanity, but overall he wouldn't be too stressed about it. mike is very confident that he could win the approval of your parents. because of how calm he is, he'd probably treat your parents like old friends.
but if you're a person of color, he'd try a little harder. mike would present himself a bit neater, would constantly mention his successes, intelligence, job, etc. he'd even put in the effort to follow your family's customs. like if you eat with your hands, he has no issue doing so. or if you have a larger family, especially if they don't speak english, he would probably try to learn the language and get along with them all. he really wants to gain their approval.
these hcs make him sound like a saint... but the number one issue in your relationship with mike is that he tends to be a bit ignorant when it comes to your feelings.
for example, if you were at a party and you told mike you were uncomfortable and wanted to leave, he would be like: "what? why? this party's great! just go and talk to people, it isn't that hard."
he's nice about it, he just doesn't understand. he may even tease you about it.
"what? are you scared of social interaction? oh no, a conversation! the scariest of all weapons!"
but he shuts up immediately when he actually sees how uncomfortable you are, then he'd help you out. he's a nice boyfriend, just not the most understanding sometimes.
when you are genuinely in distress (emotionally), he would drop everything to help you and get rid of whatever is troubling you. if there's a chore you are too stressed to get done, he's helping you with it. if someone's messing with you, he'll have a... 'chat' with them. even though mike isn't too good with emotions, he hates seeing you stressed or sad. even if you're in denial or claim that you "don't need help" he isn't having it. he's stubborn, and he WILL help you.
mike's love language is probably either physical touch or quality time. if you're taller than him, he'd probably rest his arm around your waist. if you're shorter, he'd like to tease you sometimes by having his arm on top of your head, but mainly around your shoulders. he isn't afraid of showing off his partner to others, so he likes holding you at all times in some kind of way.
he also loves quality time. doesn't matter how. whether you're out at dinner somewhere, or just sitting in the same room scrolling through your phones in silence. he isn't picky, he just likes being around you.
mike strikes me as the type of boyfriend to always offer to drive you places, even if you're a better driver than him. you'd be in the passenger seat and you get to choose what music to listen to, while mike has one hand on the wheel, and his other hand resting on your thigh.
when you're spending time with mike, you laugh a lot and mess around like kids, but after 3-4 hours of hanging out, you're suddenly talking about the meaning of life and your biggest fears and covering them up with jokes. he's versatile!😻
overall, he's a nice, funny boyfriend. even if he isn't extremely good with emotions, he tries his best with you.

savior complex
a climbing class fic
He knew, logically, that he should still be pissed about Josh’s deranged prank. And it’s not like he wasn’t pissed off — he was — but it was complicated. Chris had always seen Josh as a fixed point in his life, the planet he revolved around. Josh was the idea guy, and Chris was his yes-man. Josh said jump, Chris said how high. The rational part of Chris knew it was codependent, but that’s how they’d always been. He didn’t want that to change. -- Or, it's a few months post-prank and Chris still has nightmares. He and Josh get high, watch a dumb movie, and talk about the shit they've been avoiding.

Staring in the Devil’s Eyes
Sam/Josh [Until Dawn], Canon Divergence AU [rated E | wc: 4.8k | non-con/dub-con, explicit smut, kidnapping, everyone’s a little bit fucked in the head]
Sam Giddings had received warnings about Josh Washington since the day she first met him. From his sisters, from her mom, from her classmates. But they have a connection, she gets him even if others don’t. But she missed the biggest red flag of them all and now she’s trapped by a guy that she’s not so sure she understands anymore.
But Josh isn’t mad at her anymore. In fact, he’d like to thank her for being so upset about his supposed death––whether or not she’s ready for it.

Josh Washington X Reader Requested prompt
!TW: Jealousy!
When you and Josh were allowed to leave high school early for the day, he would ponder on what the two of you should do in the extra time you both had whilst you just silently walked beside him; you were content as long as you were with him. “Wanna grab lunch?” Josh suggested, and you glanced up at him, surprised. “Or - Watch a movie, together?” Josh pried, and you shrugged; you didn’t mind, as long as you were with him. “Y’know what - Screw it,” he stated suddenly, turning to face you so he could hold you at arm’s length. “Let’s go on a date,” he decided, and your eyes lit up. “You want to?” Josh asked, and you nodded quickly, excited.
☾༒☯︎︎
Josh had spent the whole day on Saturday looking for presents for you and decorating his cabin as your birthday was tomorrow, and he’d invited you to his cabin to surprise you. Josh rushed over to the door when he heard a knock, and he smiled sheepishly at you when he opened the door for you. “Come on in,” he invited, and you followed him into the cabin, stopping dead as you weren’t expecting to see the birthday decorations and presents. Josh beamed, proud of his work, before he turned to face you. “Happy birthday!” Josh exclaimed, before he wrapped his arms around you.
You held him at arm’s length, amazed as you looked around the room again. “I can’t believe you remembered,” you stated, your eyes meeting his brilliant green ones.
Josh scoffed, intertwining his fingers with your’s. “Of course I remembered,” he responded, “how could I ever forget?”
You pulled him into a hug again, smiling softly. “Thank you so much, Josh,” you whispered, and he nodded to say ‘you’re welcome’, lifting his hand to the back of your head so he could stroke your hair. “You make me feel so special,” you expressed, and he would be glad that he’d made you happy.
“Wanna open your presents?” Josh asked, and you nodded, unintentionally squeaking when he lowered his hand to your side - your most ticklish spot. Josh noticed immediately, smirking as he placed both hands delicately on either side of your waist. “I didn’t know you were ticklish,” he mused, and you tried to escape before he could begin tickling you, but he was too quick, pulling you closer to him as he did, making you laugh uncontrollably.
☾༒☯︎︎
You smiled as you watched Josh playing chess with one of the younger kids in the other school building; he’d obviously been assigned as the boy’s guardian and mentor. You then walked away, deciding you’d catch up with him later, when he was free.
When lunch time finally came, you rushed after Josh in the hallway, and surprised him when you threw your arms around him from behind him. “I was looking for you!” You stated, and he would be relieved that it was you, turning to face you as he smiled toothily. You nervously looked around, and he remembered that his friends might be close by, wincing. “Let’s go outside,” you suggested, and Josh nodded, following you to the double doors, before he held one of them open for you. “Thank you,” you responded to his action, smiling shyly as you passed him.
Josh smirked, before he let the door close as he followed you out. “You’re welcome, milady,” he replied, and sat on the nearest bench with you.
You hesitantly turned to face him, keeping your gaze slightly low as you were embarrassed at yourself. “I - Noticed you playing chess earlier with that boy,” you began, “I thought it was cute.” Josh would be surprised, lifting an eyebrow. “And I - was thinking that - Well, you - you’d-” you stammered, “you’d be a great dad.”
Josh couldn’t help, but smile as he shuffled closer to you, holding your hand. “Oh yeah?” Josh replied, and you nodded, feeling quite flustered at yourself for actually saying it. “You wanna know what I think?” Josh asked, and you reluctantly glanced up at him, nodding slowly. Josh leaned forward, until his face was inches from your’s. “I think you’d be a great mom,” he concluded, before he connected his lips to your’s, making you feel fuzzy.
You placed your hand on Josh’s cheek once the kiss ended, your eyes still closed for a moment, until they fluttered open slowly, meeting his. “You own my heart,” you whispered, and he smiled lovingly at you.
“You own mine,” he claimed gently, “and I intend to keep it that way forever.”
“Me, too,” you responded, before you connected your forehead to his.
☾༒☯︎︎
You had stayed over at Josh’s cabin with him, and woke up in his arms the next day, groaning when the alarm clock went off; you couldn’t be bothered to get up, but knew you had to aa you didn’t want to be late for high school. “No,” Josh whined, stirring as you began to move. “Let’s just stay in bed for five more minutes,” he practically pleaded, his voice strained as he was half asleep.
“We can’t, Josh,” you stated, removing his arms from your waist. “We’ll be late,” you reminded him, and he grunted, annoyed. You couldn’t help, but grin as he began to sulk, turning away from you. “What’s wrong, baby boy?” You teased him, and he huffed, pressing his face into his pillow.
“Oh shut up and kiss me already,” he demanded, turning to face you again. You giggled, leaning down to place a quick kiss on his lips.
You were trying to make the flower headband in your hair neater, not noticing Josh at first in the mirror, but when you did, you smiled warmly over at him. Josh wrapped his arms around your waist, smiling back at you as he rested his chin on your shoulder. “You look pretty,” he complimented, and you lowered your head slightly, feeling your cheeks heating up; you loved it when he complimented you. “I’d even go as far as to say beautiful,” he added, and you whimpered, feeling that you must look as red as a tomato; you were becoming flustered. “Hey - Can you give me some kisses?” Josh requested, carefully turning you around to face him as if you were as fragile as porcelain. “I’m needy,” he stated, chuckling at himself.
You rolled your eyes, smirking, before you placed a soft kiss on his lips. Before you could pull away, Josh snuck in one of his nose kisses, surprising you and making the faint blush on your cheeks more obvious. Josh noticed that you were blushing, and he smiled toothily as he placed his hand on your cheek, a mischievous glint forming in his brilliant green eyes. “What?” You asked, noticing the look on his face.
You warily lifted your right hand to your cheek, and you winced when you felt how warm it was. “You’re blushing,” he answered smugly and knowingly; he loved the effect he had on you.
You shook your head quickly, embarrassed. “I’m not blushing!” You contradicted, and Josh scoffed, lifting a skeptical eyebrow.
☾༒☯︎︎
You were sulking after you’d seen Josh talking to Sam, and when he tried to talk to you, you ignored him. “Hey,” he stated, noticing that you seemed upset with him almost immediately; he knew you so well. “Hey, Y/n,” he pried, attempting to place his hand on your’s, but you moved it away. “What’s wrong? D-Did I do something?” Josh asked, and you glanced back at him.
“You only spent almost,” you looked down at your watch to check the time, “the entirety of lunch with Sam.”
Josh couldn’t help, but smirk, lifting an eyebrow slightly. “Are you jealous, baby?” Josh questioned, and you grunted, glaring at him.
“I’m not jealous,” you muttered, turning away from him.
“Good,” Josh responded, placing his hand on your shoulder, “because you shouldn’t be. Sam could never replace you.” You continued to sulk, and Josh turned you to face him carefully. “Y/n-”
“I’m in need of affection,” you interrupted, and he realised, smiling sheepishly at you.
Josh wrapped his arms around your waist, before he connected his forehead to your’s. “You’re the only person I want to make forever memories with,” he expressed, before he placed a soft, loving kiss on your lips.
You smiled weakly up at Josh, and he reflected your smile. “Can we cuddle?” You requested, hopeful. “Please?” You pried, and Josh nodded, wrapping his arms around you, and you returned the hug.
☾༒☯︎︎
You and Josh were snuggled up on the sofa together whilst watching a film, and he noticed you falling asleep, clearly exhausted already. “You’re adorable,” he spoke gently, smiling warmly down at you. You would be embarrassed, hiding your face in the sleeve of his plaid shirt. Josh chuckled, amused by your reaction.

Spooky Season Special: Until Dawn (Male!Reader x Chris)
Prologue Chapter One Chapter Two Chapter Three Chapter Four
Chapter 5: Prey
- Six Hours Until Dawn -
"Locked? How the hell?" Matt growls, trying to pull open the gate behind you all, which suddenly locked.
You wouldn't blame yourself for being a little distracted. What happened back there?
You had been perfectly willing to give yourself up, but... had Chris accepted your wishes, or had he chosen to kill his best friend instead? He swore he hadn't, but... there's something going on here, but it's just out of reach of your shock-addled mind. It doesn't matter anyway - it's time to get help.
"There's some seriously uncool shit going down here." Matt scowls.
You glance down at yourself, still spattered in Josh's blood. "Yeah, you think, Matt?"
Matt winces. "Oh. Sorry."
You reach the cable car station, only to find an axe embedded in the door. "Look, an axe!" Matt grins. "I feel safer with an axe."
You're about to point out that maybe he ought to be more worried about the scary man who likely put the axe there and left a big shiny bruise on your face, but the moment passes, and Matt convinces Emily to slide through the small window beside the locked door. She complains the whole way, but a moment later opens it.
"Wow. I did it." Em smiles softly, sounding surprised.
Matt hugs her. "Good job, Em. You rock."
"Yeah, you're okay too. We did good."
The celebration is short-lived, as when the lights go on you realize the cable car station has been vandalized, and worse - sabotaged. And the keys are nowhere to be found.
"This.. this is bad." Em says, but you admire that her voice has stopped wavering. "Guys, we need another plan. We can't just sit around and do nothing!"
You nod. "Okay, uh..."
Hopeful - "Should we climb down?" Calm - "The fire tower..."
"There's an old firewatcher tower around here somewhere. It probably has a direct line to the ranger station we can use!" you say with delight.
Matt and Em glance at you, before Emily nods. "Good idea. I mean, the radio tower's probably ages old by now and might not have a signal-"
"It's the only plan we've got, unless we wanna climb down and break our necks." Matt adds, and Em gives him a sharp look.
You let them take the lead as you follow them around the outside of the cable car station, Emily sniping angrily at Matt for not moving fast enough and for not catching her.
"What if this doesn't work?" Emily suddenly whimpers, as you all trek up towards the fire tower.
"It has to." Matt grunts.
Pragmatic - "We should have a backup. Hopeful - "It's going to work."
"We need to make a plan just in case. I don't want to be stuck up there freaking out if it doesn't." you say, shuddering.
"Exactly." Em agrees.
"Maybe we just... find a place to hole up with the others? Safety in numbers." Matt muses.
"As long as it's not back at the lodge." Em mutters. "It's where that psycho would suspect."
You consider this. "Maybe. But... worse comes to worst, we can overwhelm him this time."
Before Emily can tell you that this is probably the worst idea you've ever had, Matt trips a little over a loose floorboard, and leans down to find a pink cell phone.
"Is that... Beth's?" Emily asks.
"I thought the police swept, like, the whole area." Matt frowns.
You shrug. "Guess they missed this. Maybe the twins didn't stay put, and they moved through the area."
In silence, you all continue moving up the mountain.
"Watch your step, Em." Matt says carefully, causing her to scoff.
"Yes, Matt, unless you plan on catching me this time, I'd rather not spend my evening plummeting to my death off a snowy cliff top."
You roll your eyes at her sniping. Even you are starting to get a little tired of her constant complaining. But you remember taking her side over Jessica, and you figure it's best not to alienate anyone else.
There's a loud, haunting sound from behind you, and the three of you whirl, slowly backing up.
There's a horde of deer approaching, and they don't seem particularly friendly...
NEW Butterfly Effect: Y/N sided with Emily; Jessica felt insecure AND Mike failed to impress; Mike stumbled when chasing after Jessica; Mike was too late: Jessica was dead!
Butterfly Effect: Y/N kept his cool in the Masked Man’s trap; and Chris admired Y/N’s clarity of thought…
Butterfly Effect: Josh teased Chris about Ashley; but Chris was not baited; AND Josh was impressed with Y/N’s personality…
Butterfly Effect: Emily and Jessica fought; Y/N sided with Emily; Y/N felt guilty...
The Soul of Discretion: Ashley discouraged Matt from using the telescope; Y/N did not expose Ashley; Matt didn’t see Mike and Emily flirting; SO Matt did not confront Mike; AND Emily and Jessica fought.
Be His Hero: Y/N was caught by the Masked Man; AND used in his trap, so Chris chose to save Y/N and Ashley, AND Chris confessed his feelings for Y/N.

Josh Washington X Reader Angst with a happy ending prompt
Josh would grimace when he noticed you stood at his doorstep, and you couldn’t bare to see the hatred he conveyed for you, so you looked away, a pained expression on your face. “What are you doing here?” Josh questioned, and you glanced up at him nervously.
“I didn’t know where else to go,” you answered, and he grunted.
“Why don’t you go and stay with Alice again, then?” Josh inquired, annoyed.
“She’s on holiday with Eugene, and - she wouldn’t let me stay in her cabin anyway, because - we also had a disagreement,” you murmured, and Josh would try to think of something else, but he couldn’t. “L-Look, I can see that you don’t want me here, so I’ll just go-”
“No, wait,” Josh interrupted, and you turned back to him, hopeful. “You can stay, but only for tonight,” he gave in, and you would be grateful to him, walking inside when he stepped aside for you.
Josh heard you open the slide door to the garden during the night, and he reluctantly got up to check on you. “Y/n?” Josh broke the silence, and you looked back at him, hugging yourself as you turned around, nervous. “What are you doing out here?” Josh inquired, and you shrugged.
“I just - Couldn’t sleep,” you answered, sinking on one of the swings.
Josh hesitantly sat on the swing next to you, but you were too scared to look at him. “Why did you do it?” Josh asked, and you bowed your head. “Why did you attack Sam?” Josh pried, wanting to know what had made you do it.
“I-..” You murmured, embarrassed. “I thought-.. I thought she was going to take you away from me,” you admitted, and Josh frowned, shaking his head as he looked anywhere, but you.
“That would have never happened, Y/n,” he claimed, “I was never lying when I told you that I loved you.” Josh then managed to bring himself to look at you, and he noticed that your eyes were slightly red, and you had faint bags under them. “Have you been sleeping?” Josh inquired, concerned. You shook your head, fidgeting with your hands. Josh remembered that he should still be upset with you after what you did to Sam, and he stood up from the swing. “I’m gonna go back to bed,” he murmured, “you should probably do the same.” Josh then walked back into the cabin, and you sighed shakily, before you stood up, returning to the spare room.
You heard Josh whimpering in his room, and you panicked, thinking someone was hurting him as you rushed into his room, scaring him as he shuffled away from you; you realised that he must have seen something in his room, and he must have gotten scared. “It’s okay,” you reassured him, “I won’t hurt you.” Josh began to calm down, and you sat beside him, wrapping your arms around him. Josh returned the hug, feeling safer as he buried his face into your shoulder.
Josh held you at arm’s length, feeling bad for how he’d treated you recently. “I - I just wanted to say - I’m sorry, f-for how I treated you,” he stated, a pained expression on his face. “I should have reminded you that I loved you more often,” he mused, “a-and that Sam means nothing to me.”
“Is-.. Is she really just a friend, Josh?” You pried, and he nodded quickly, holding your hand. “Do you promise?” You asked, and he nodded.
“I promise,” he responded, and you tried to believe him, pulling him into another hug.

It's funny how randomizer got me Until dawn after me falling into Quarry
Obsession
Chris x Josh
Tumblr media
Their relationship was always strange. Friends since they were kids, best friends in school, overall close and important people in each others' life.
Chris always thought very fondly of Josh. He had enough on his plate. Even if his parents were rich as hell, his father was still strict, mother was sometimes dismissive. And sisters were all for each other, being twins and all. Josh often was left alone to his thoughts and games. Chris was the one who always tried to find time for his friend.
Their friendship was even closer than some of people called normal. They could sleep in one bed, wash in one shower, joke about bed or anything in between, slap each other e.c. Josh especially loved dirty jokes, and Chris answered if not with same ones, but in the same tone.
And of course they discussed their crushes. Josh was too proud and said that he didn't like anyone. Yet his longing glances at Sam proved otherwise. Chris loved to joke about it. Josh laughed about his "relationship" with Ashley in return.
"Oh, but imagine... Imagine! What if you liked boys?" Josh was wasted and Chris was drunk as well, but still he was surprised to hear that.
"Uh... What?" Josh giggled at Chris' surprised expression.
"I mean you have an excited bone for Ashley. But if you liked boys... Who would you choose?" Josh flopped down on the bed, watching his friend in the armchair almost upside down. Chris was still dumbfounded from the situation.
"I dunno... Where the hell that question came from?" He scoffed, looking at his drunk friend. Josh giggles drunkenly and turned on the side, still looking on his friend with a smirk.
"If I were gay, I would choose you. You are cool and funny, dude. But I wouldn't sleep with you, it's gross, you are my bro." Washington added, leaving Chris in complete shock of what he just heard and witnessed. Ans Josh just layed back down, humming something funny under his nose.
But yeah... They were bros. Close like no one else was in their school. They relied on each other, were emergency calls in their phones... They were tight group.
And then Hannah and Beth disappeared and everything went to shit even further a year after.
***
"How did they find him?" Chris walked with Sam through corridors of some kind of hospital - he still wasn't sure what it was exactly. There were police, doctors... Practically everyone.
"I have no idea. I am surprised he even alive considering... Everything else. I guess money is everything." Sam sighed. Only this morning she got called by the Washingtons. Friends were surprised there were no journalists, but... Maybe they bought their silence too.
"I... Wait, Sam! Do you really think we should go in there?" Chris stopped right before the door to the hospital room. He hesitated. Last time he saw Josh, he punched him for punching Ashley. And this time... The boy was all alone down there for hell knows how long with real monsters and demons of his own. What will they see there? Were they ready for it?
"Chris. They asked us to be here." Sam looked at him confidently, but Chris could see the same hesitancy in her eyes. She didn't want to see the monster behind the door that once was her friend. But she was right, they had to be brave. There was no going back.
"Alright. Yeah. You're right. Let's do that." Chris breathed out and stepped forward, opening the door before the girl.
He didn't quite knew what he expected. But definitely not see-through thick glass in the middle of the room. On their side were the Washingtons, some doctors and couple of guards. On the other side though...
There was a figure in the corner. Dim lights made it almost impossible to see it clearly, but part of Chris knew who it was. The figure moved, as if attracted by new smells and darted to the glass. Sam froze out of instinct, but Chris made a step closer on the inertia, almost entranced by the situation, his hesitance going somewhere far away.
Josh looked right at him, but Chris wasn't sure if he saw him. One of his eyes were white and clouded, like one of those things. Chris shuddered at the comparison in his mind and then saw the fangs. They almost ripped his cheek and the boy could see them. Josh' fingers had some claws, but at least they weren't long and awfully terrifying like others' wendigos were. Josh looked like human, but unnatural as well.
"He hadn't reacted to anyone yet." Chris almost didn't hear the doctor, but only sighed. He could only wonder what would happen next.
***
"You sure you are okay?" Sam sighed, adjusting the backpack.
"You ask that every time." Chris scoffed and pushed her in the shoulder a bit.
"You know what I mean." She sighed with weak smile. After all the doctors and specialists Josh had gone through, he didn't attack others. Well, at least less than he used to. He still didn't like Mike's smell or Emily's voice, but they were rare guests in here.
"Relax. Look at me, half a year into living with Josh in a wild." Chris answered and made a puzzled look. "How do you think, will it become viral on Youtube?" Sam rolled her eyes at that.
"Name the video something like... "My best friend likes raw meat and he looks at my leg weirdly." She joked back, making Chris nervously giggle.
Josh' parents did everything for their son. They made the story quiet, they payed every media they could to keep it down. They hired the best doctors who would keep their mouths shut... But they were busy and they couldn't live with their son forever. And he needed someone to be with him, or every progress they achieved would be lost. They had to find a way and someone to be with Josh. Preferably someone he wouldn't growl at and snap his teeth.
Chris offered himself. After everything that went down that night, he wanted to do anything that could help. They didn't tell the whole truth to the parents. But Josh... Josh that was somewhere deep inside that half-wendigo, who understood something, but not entirely, who couldn't talk and communicated in growls and whines, and who adored raw meat... He knew. And Chris couldn't leave everything behind.
Maybe he felt a little bit guilty. After all he left Josh in that barn. He wasn't good enough of a friend to help him out after Hannah and Beth disappeared. And that lead to all this masks and "maniacs". And he didn't return for him fast enough to save him from Hannah. Or... Whatever had become of her. He felt huge amount of guilt and that was one of the reasons he and Ashley didn't work out. She didn't want to help the one who scarred her with nightmares. Chris understood her, but... He was his best friend. If he was to left Josh... Who would help him?
"Call me if anything, and I mean it, Chris. Even if you are buddies-rommates, be safe." Sam was one of the most often guests in their flat, but she was too sometimes welcomed by whimsical halfblood (and they tried to spend some time together), but sometimes she wasn't (and stayed away from Josh, as well as Chris did too).
"Don't worry. You brought enough for him to last a week, so I will be a-okay. I will call you, don't worry." Chris hugged the girl before she went away, and closed the door after her.
Sighing, the boy returned to the room. Josh was always locked up for the moment of saying goodbyes, just to be sure he wouldn't run away. It was always... So strange with it.
Chris looked at the locked up door. He was his best friend. His buddy, his dude, his bro. And he didn't talk now. No more dirty jokes or stupid advices... Only growling. Chris got used to his looks, yes, but everything else... It was like it was some kind of an animal. With his friend's face and half-human.
"I gotta get new therapist..." Chris muttered under his breath, opening the door. He didn't hear usual growling, but didn't think much of it until...
The door got swung open, and Josh jumped on him. Chris immediately lost his balance and fell on the floor. For a second terror got over him and memories of those night flashed before his eyes. Was it the end? But Josh was comfortable with him only recently, he didn't snapped back and didn't react, why would he do something like that?
"Josh, hey, bro, it's me, relax there..." Chris tried to reasoned with half-human, that got on top of him, growling. The latter leaned down, making clacking sounds with his teeth near Chris' neck. The boy just froze, trying to understand what to do now.
"Nn..." Josh tried to say something, but definitely couldn't. Chris listened in, but couldn't concentrate because of his growling.
"Josh, get off me and we can sit and watch something or..." His speech was ended by loud growling and snapping jaws at his face.
"Ine!!" He said louder and grabbed Chris' face with his clawed hand. Another wave of fear shook him, but still boy tried to get on the good side of the beast his friend had become.
"I don't understand what you are saying, Josh, repeat..." He breathed out, watching half-wendigo leaning to his face. He had to stay calm in order to calm down Josh.
"Mine." The brunette mumbled quieter. He layed down on top of Chris, tucking his nose and mouth in the cape of his neck. Now there wasn't any fear. Only confusion. A lot of it.
"Yours? I... I am your friend, yes. Why the sentiment, dude, get off of... Ouch, ouch, I got it, you won't move, sorry." Slight attempt to take Josh off of him ended in the latter gripping his shoulders with his claws.
"No. Mine. Only mine." Josh roared slowly. Chris sighed. He should have been panicked, but in all honesty he was rather... Empty.
From one point of view it was great. Josh started to talk again, that meant that his transformation into complete monster stopped completely. He was reacting normally, didn't try to munch down on his shoulders and was holding him strongly, but controlled his power.
From the other one, Josh was still unstable. He was emotional and acted instinctively, so it was hard to predict what he would or wouldn't do. His territorial thing, for example. Chris wasn't invited in Josh private area and if the latter got overwhelmed with everything, he crawled back and attacked everyone who tried to get closer. So him counting Chris as... 'His'... Was more than stressful.
"My therapist would be rich from this..." He mumbled under his nose. He didn't expect another growl and angry look from Josh. Chris thought he calmed down.
"Doctors bad. Smell bad. Chris no doctor. Mine!" He roared with short, abrupt phrases, looking at Chris' face. The boy raised his hands, like giving up.
"Okay, okay, man, no doctors, fine!" He wanted nothing more, but to calm Josh down and avoid any crisis. The wendigo snapped his jaws and layed back. Chris breathed out, listening to quietness. Sudden thought finally hit him. "Wait a minute, are you hitting on me?!"
"No hits, no bites! Chris mine!" Even if it weren't full sentences, Chris clearly understood what Josh meant. Was he scared? Kinda. But some part of him knew that Josh wouldn't hurt him. He didn't until now, so it was... Good? He was just laying on him, not trying to bite anything. So Chris carefully raised his hand to caress his stiff hair.
Josh only grasped him stronger, growling something in his neck. He wasn't a fan of Chris leaving him alone, especially when he went away with Sam. Now he just got to the breaching point.
It was tough. For one of them - his best friend became different. He got claws, fangs, craving for raw meat. Lost his ability to talk, to think and act like human... For the most part. And... He apparently became obsessed with him. For the other one - he changed. He vaguely remembered that once upon a time he was different, like others. But it was all foggy, almost unnatural. Only several things were clear as day. He loved meat, hated bright light, hated doctors and what they gave to him. And he didn't want to hurt this strange boy in glasses, as he belonged to him, to Josh. Was it hard to adjust to new life for them? Of course. But it was only the beginning.

Darkness - UNTIL DAWN REWRITE Chapter Two
[UNTIL DAWN-MASTERLIST]
Previous Chapter / Next Chapter
Summary: After meeting up at the cable car, Chris and Synthya made their way up the mountain and reached the lodge. Synthya wasn’t too hyped about the whole thing, having kind of a bad feeling but she was doing this for Josh. It seemed important to him to get everyone reunited on this day and she would give Josh the world, so she didn’t really think twice before agreeing to come back here... despite her apprehensions.
Words: 5.6k
Warnings: Until Dawn spoilers (chapter 2 specifically), flirting, fluff, fears, angst, chase, lots of dialogues
Mount Washington’s Lodge, 10pm
NINE HOURS UNTIL DAWN
Synthya and Chris walked down the trail, the sole of their shoes sinking slightly into the snow, leaving their footprints in their path. She really couldn’t wait to get into the lodge and settle on a couch, maybe even take a hot bath to chill out a bit cause the uneasiness she felt while walking through this god forsaken forest was getting a little too much for her to handle, although she managed to keep up the appearances. She knew she didn’t actually need to pretend with Chris, but it was almost like she needed to make herself believe she was fine and as they approached the small gate cutting off the path leading up to the lodge, she noticed Matt, his arms crossed, seemingly upset for some reason and just standing to the side and Ashley was sitting on the porch stairs. Synthya let Chris open the gate and they were welcomed by Josh who walked up to them and at the sight of the latter, a sweet smile appeared on her face. He smiled at her and greeted her with an affectionate and soft kiss. Chris cooed and whistled to tease them. Josh simply laughed as he stepped back.
“Man, I feel this mountain gets bigger every time I climb it.”
“Oh yeah? Feels the same to me.” Josh said nonchalantly with a cocky smile. He just had this overall laid-back and cool vibe coming from him, as always. She couldn’t help but be worried about him all the time but seeing him so calm and composed made her wonder, but she knew better. His behavior in public did fool her when she had first met him. She’d never thought he wasn’t so well and that’s why now, she tried to have a constant eye on him, but some things slipped from her watchful eyes. One definitely couldn’t tell that a year ago he attempted suicide. Only her and Chris knew about that incident, though.
“Oh come on, you grew up here. It probably feels like it’s shrinking.”
“I guess that’s true.” He glanced down, nodding.
“When are you gonna install some cell towers up here? I’m getting withdrawals already.” Chris complained lightly, lifting his phone up in the air. Synthya rolled her eyes, subconsciously adopting the same pose as Josh as she watched Chris acting all tech-savyy.
“You got a spare million lying around and I’ll fix you right up.” Josh retorted ironically, shrugging.
“Funny you should say that… Ah, I think I left it in my other jacket.” While Chris was being the comedian he is, Josh put his arm around Synthya’s shoulders and they walked the last feet separating them from the porch, approaching Asley and Matt.
“Hey guys… Get up here, okay?” He greeted the two with his free hand.
“Yeah… well, more or less. But it’s so good to see you!” Ashley said.
“Sup with him?” Josh wondered, looking at Matt and nobody knew the answer so there was a brief silence. Matt even eventually went a little further from the house and stood in the shadow of the trees, ruminating in silence. Josh let his arm slip down her back as he and the moment his hand left her back, she suddenly felt quite nervous and she looked into the dense forest, narrowing her eyes as if she was trying to see something. “Oh, hey, you all right, Syn’?”
“Uh, yeah… yeah, don’t worry. I’m fine. Just… just a bit nervous. That’s all…” She cleared her throat, staring into the dark and Josh rubbed her back and climbed up the porch stairs along with Chris.
She went the opposite direction and slowly came near the small gate and leaned on it, staring straight ahead at the forest path she had just walked up with Chris. Alone in front of it, it seemed so much scarier. She had this pending feeling of being watched and followed and this ever since she got off the bus almost a couple hours ago. Something didn’t feel right but she shook it off and took a deep breath. She stayed still for a second, her heart pounding in her ears and shallow breathing, she swallowed harshly and grabbed her phone and headphones from her bag and put music in her ears. The silence in which the forest was plunged did not help to calm her. She closed her eyes and breathed in and out slowly, her hands now gripped onto the gate. But the nightmares came anyway, mocking her attempt at keeping her shit together. These same images kept haunting her mind. She ran in the forest, with Hannah and Beth, freezing and in panick at they reached a cliff. She suddenly felt a hand on her, and she opened her eyes, right at the moment she saw herself fell and she turned around, only to see Josh standing in front of her. She had never told him about what happened, not in details anyway. She only ever really told her therapist about it and the latter eventually diagnosed her with PTSD. She cleared her throat, taking off her headphones.
“Where did Chris go?” She asked, trying to compose herself.
“He went to look for a deodorant to open the door from inside.”
“A deodorant?”
“Yeah, I gave him a lighter, so he can go all flame-thrower and unfreeze the lock.” He gestured, mimicking a flame thrower with his hand, making the crackling soun with his mouth and her eyes flinched in a brief blink and she sketched an amused smile, nodding, to cover up her reaction, in case he had seen it. She never forgot about that man with the flame-thrower who at first chase her and his sister down before actually saving her from a deadly fall and letting her run away, for some reason. It was still something confusing to think about. And she never said the whole story to Josh because he had already hit rock bottom, she didn't want to upset him even more. “You all right, Syn?”
“Huh? Sure, I—” She was about to tell Josh how well she was when she suddenly heard a branch crach in the distance and she turned around, startled. When she saw a deer just running across the path she cleared her throat, passing her hand in her hair, letting the hood of her jacket fall down her head, making her shiver when cold air blew down her neck, despite the scarf she had tied around it. She felt Josh wrap his arms around her waist, leaning his head against hers and she put her hand onto his. “I’m fine, really. Just a little on edge…”
“I know, but you’ll see, we’re gonna have a great weekend.”
“Oh, really?” She smiled at the smirk on his face and turned her head towards him. The way he pressed his lips against hers, sharing a soft and sensual kiss, made her think he had probably some making out in mind for the two of them, in order to make this the great weekend he promised her. They only broke their embrace when they heard a loud wooo noise coming from inside the lodge and Ashley letting out a gasp, jumping. Synthya smiled, amused and Josh and her walked to the door. “Hey man, shouldn’t be getting the lock open?”
“On it!” After a minute, he lit the lighter and sprayed the deodorant on the flame, melting the ice inside the lock of the lodge's front door. He grabbed the handle and opened the door quickly letting go, waving his hand with a quiet grunt from the heat. He then bowed. “Thank you, thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all   week—” He suddenly screamed when a little furball came out of the blue and rushed out of the house. Ashley, Josh and Synthya stepped aside in surprise. “That thing freaked me out.”
“What was it? Are you okay?” Ashley asked, laughing.
“It was like a… bear or a tiger or something—”
“Aww, it was just a little baby Wolverine!” Synthya joked. Unlike Josh and Chris, she wasn’t much of a jokester, but this seemed like the ideal occasion to make a pop culture reference. Josh gave her an amused smile.
“Baby?”
“Don’t worry buddy, you’re gonna be a big boy soon.” Josh teased with a smirk. They then walked in, joined by Mat and went into the living room. All the sofas and armchairs around the fireplace were covered with a sheet. There was an eerie silence floating in the air until Josh spoke up, looking around. “Home sweet home.”
“Sweet is not the word I’d use.” Matt said while putting down Emily’s bags near the wall.
“Oh my god, it’s so good to be inside. Even if it’s still kinda freezing in here.” Ashley sighed in relief.
“I’ll get a fire going.” Josh walked up to the fireplace.
“This place barely looks any different.”
“Yeah, like it’s frozen in time.” Synthya added, glancing at Matt with a nod.
“Nobody’s been up here.” Josh told them, crouched in front of the hearth.
“Even with all the police coming in and out?” Ashley wondered.
“Not a lot of action here lately.” Chris concluded, glancing at Josh.
“Nope.” Josh added. Synthya nonchalantly shuffled her feet, walking around the living room and she went near the windows, parting the slats of the curtain with her fingers, looking out. It took her a second to realize that she was looking outside as if she was awaiting a monster with that same anxiety that made her stomach heavy and she took a step back, startled, almost letting out a loud gasp when Mike came in, casually yelling to greet the rest of them.
“What’s up party people!” Synthya swallowed harshly, trying to compose herself, ignoring the fact that Josh glanced at her. She used to be better at keeping her shit together but being back on that mountain was fairly triggering, but she would do anything for Josh so if it was important for him to bring everyone back up here, she wouldn’t say no to the invitation and the fact that he was there too made it a little easier.
“Heeey!” Jessica waved her hand at the five of them standing there in the lodge as they joined. Josh greeted them back, still busy near the fireplace and Synthya noticed Matt raising his head and staring at Mike, for whatever reason. She thought that maybe Mike had something to do with how upset he was a moment ago when they were stuck outside the house.
“Make yourself at home, bro.” Josh told Mike. Synthya kept an eye on them, silent and she pulled the sheet covering an armchair next to the large sofa and slumped in the chair, sitting sideways on it, facing Josh.
“Will do.” He gestured at his host and joined Jessica on the sofa.
“Yeah. Come on in.” Matt’s tone of voice was overly bitter, which only confirmed Synthya previous thought about the reason why Matt was so troubled, now he looked like he wanted to throw hands and have a beef with Mike right there right now. “Take a load off. Have whatever you want. You just take whatever you want anyways, right?”
“Woah, easy there, cowboy.” Mike seemed genuinely confused, or at least he was acting well. Synthya was watching them, as if she was watching some reality show on TV -which she actually never did- but it felt like it.
“What the hell were you doing with Em out on the trail, huh?” Matt inquired.
“What?”
“I saw you and Em. Through the telescope.”
“Before? We just ran into each other. It’d been a while, so we hugged, and I said hello. Is that against the law?” Matt looked away, clearing his throat, nodding, seemingly a little embarrassed to have gotten carried away. He ran ran his hand through his hair.
“Right… yeah... Duh. Sorry, it’s been kind of a long day. I overreacted.”
“Nah, man, don’t worry about it.” Mike said softly before joining Jessica on the couch and Matt went to sit down on the other end of the sofa. Synthya let out a quiet sigh and rested her head against the back of the armchair. She bent over to grab her phone in her bag on the floor. She let it fall right back inside upon seeing that it was dead already and returned to her previous position on the chair. That’s when Emily arrived. Synthya already knew there would be some drama between her and Jessica and no one had even said anything yet. She wasn’t really thrilled to see them again, after not talking to them at all for a whole year. Synthya had only kept in touch with Chris, Ashley and obviously, Josh.
“Oh. My god. This is so gross.” Emily chuckled, looking at them in a judgmental manner, crossing her arms over her chest. “Are you trying to swallow his face whole? Seriously can she be any more obvious?” Matt stood up while Emily just kept going. This time, the fight would escalate, because Emilly was much more impetuous. “No one wants in on your territory, honey.”
“Excuse me, did you say something?” Jessica took a few steps, rising from the couch.
“Oh, did you not hear me? Was your sluttiness too loud?”
“Sounds like someone’s bitter she didn’t make the cut.” She said, looking at Mike still casually seated behind her. Synthya rolled her eyes and looked at the windows, watching the snow falling outside.
“Yeah. It’s all big cattle call with that dreambot. Congrats, you’re top cow.” Emily laughed.
“Cuts real deep calling Miss Homecoming a cow.”
“Em, come on—” Matt tried to defuse things, but he got off by his very girlfriend.
“Shut up, Matt.”
“Stay out of it, you dumb oaf.” Jessica added and from what Synthya heard, because she got tired from looking at them, Emily didn’t like that one bit.
“Hey, watch it!”
“Oh, you’re the only one who can put him down? No one else can play with your toys?” Jessica rose her voice.
“You’re such a bich.” Emily complained.
“Whatever. I don’t give a crap what you think.” Synthya heard Jessica stepping back to the couch. She glanced at Josh, still working on getting the fire lit. He would probably put a stop to this fuss as this was surely not what he had in mind with this little winter get-away for the anniversary of his sisters’ disappearance.
“At least I can think. 4.0, bithc, honor roll. Such on that when you’re trying to sleep your way into a job.”
“Who needs grades when you’ve got all the natural advantages you can handle?”  Jessica retorted with pride. “You couldn’t buy a modly loaf of bread with your skanky ass.”
“Are you serious? Do you think that’s insulting?” Emily giggled at the attempt.
“Emily, stop! This is out of hand. There’s no reason to fight like this.” Matt spoke up, trying to play peacemaker once again.
“Yeah, Em! Why you pickin’ fight over your ex boyfriend, huh?” Before Emily could retaliate, Josh stood up and rose his voice. Synthya straightened up, bringing her legs down from the arm of the chair and looked at the latter.
“STOP IT! This is not why we came up here. This is not helping. It’s not what I wanted. If we can’t get along for ten minutes then maybe we need a little bit of a break, right? Mike, why don’t you check out the guest cabin. The one I told you about.”
“Yeah… Yeah, all right.” He got up, and invitated Jessica to come along with him, to take her away from Emily. “Want to go do that?”
“Any place without that whore…” Jessica sighed, one hand resting on her hip, she took Mike’s hand and followed him.
“It’s right up the trail.” Josh added.
“Phew…” He mimicked an explosion of his head with his hands and sighed in relief. “Glad that’s over.”
“Yeah.” Josh whispered back as he returned to the fireplace, which was still unlit after a few minutes already.
“So, Josh, uh… should we get this fire going?” Matt asked.
“Where’s my bag?” Emily inquired out of the blue. Matt turned to her, confused. “My bag! The… the little bag with the pink pattern! The one I got on Rodeo! Matt, are you listening?” While Emily talked about her stupid bag, Synthya stood up and walked over to the Grand piano. The top was closed, and it was covered with a sheet as well. She grabbed a corner of it and pulled it over before she pressed a key on the piano, and it made a sharp noise. She winced and brought her hand back to her.
“You can't play us a masterpiece today, Syn.” He joked. “The cold has surely ruined it.”
“That’s sad.” Synthya observed. She couldn’t even play the piano anyway, but she saw the beauty in these big instruments and loved them.
“Not as sad as my missing bag.” Emily whined. “Matt, I need my bag!”
“Oh my god, Em, maybe you just forgot it—”
“Do you seriously think I’d forget my bag?” She exclaimed, as if it was crazy of him to suppose that.
“Well, I—”
“Do you?” She cut him off again. She had been doing that ever since she joined them in the lodge.
“Guess not.” He said, shrugging.
“You must have left it down by the cable car station.” Matt grumbled. “C’mon, hun. We’ll be back soon.”
“And then we can get warm?” He asked softly.
“We can get very warm.” Emily cooed. Synthya smirked slightly, looking around the room. It made her think of the similar lusty offer Josh implied in the sensual kiss they shared outside. She played with her septum piercing, walking in circles as she didn’t know what to do know after the storm finally calmed down after Josh’s ultimate intervention. She shivered slightly and the image of a nice hot bath came to mind.
“I think I’m gonna take a bath. I dream of some hot water right now.” Josh stood up, turning to her and she looked at him after taking just one step towards the huge staircase, on which Chris and Ashley had been sitting in silence for the last few minutes of mayhem.
“Hey, wait for me upstairs, I’ll be there in a minute. Just gotta give some directions to Mike and Jessica, or they’re gonna get lost in these woods.” He told her in a low voice, almost whispering and he chuckled. She smiled before he gave her a soft kiss and left in the direction taken by the other couple.
“All right, I’m off. Get cosy.” She said at Chris and Ashley’s attention as she climbed up the stairs. Ashley giggled nervously. Synthya walked past the bathroom, and she noticed a door ajar at the end of a small corridor on the side of it. It was either Hannah or Beth’s bedroom if she remembered correctly.
The lodge was so enormous that it was fairly easy to forget where what was, or where you were even going in the first place. She even wondered if she had really seen all the rooms of that big house. She looked down the railing before entering the bedroom, climbing the few steps at the entrance fo the room. Everything had been left untouched, like the last time anyone ever came in. Synthya gound an old tattoo artist card on a desk and behind was a date “March 18th 2013” and the time of her appointment along with the tattoo design she wanted, the little butterfly she had gotten tattooed on her shoulder. Synthya frowned, letting out a heavy sigh as she walked to the other end of the room to a busy cork jumble on the wall beside the chimneywith various papers and photos pinned on it, she noticed a large rectangular blue box with her initials painted in gold on the top. She carefully opened it and a soft smile stretched her lips as she saw a ballerina spin around and realized it was a music box, and given the inscription she found inside, it was an old Christmas gift from Josh and the smile quickly disappeared. It made her heart sink in grief, and she closed the box quietly. On the cork jumble, she took a look at everything Hannah had put on it, trying not to get overwhelmed by how sad it made her feel; she was, along with Beth, her best friend after all and the trauma she got from watching them fall to their deaths was hard to deal with. She swallowed harshly and lifted a pinned party invite to one of Hannah's birthdays and beneath was concealed a polaroid picture of Mike in a suit.
“Oh, Hannah…” Synthya mumbled under her breath. She entered the dressing room on her right and noticed a torn magazine paper lying on the carpet. She crouched down and picked it up. On the back of it was results of some love test and Hannah got the result telling her it wasn't going to work, and to try something daring to get his attention. Mike's attention. She shook her head, put the paper back down and walked out of the room, giving a sad look around as she closed the door behind her and went near the guard railing and saw Josh climbing the stairs.
“Sent the porn stars on their way.” He said jokingly.
“All right, cause I’m dreaming of that hot bath so now’s your time to shine, big boy.” She teased and chuckled when he picked up, kissing her languidly as he carried her to his old room further down the hallway.
Tumblr media
Mount Washington’s Lodge, 10:44 PM
Synthya leaned over the tub, her knee pressed against the edge as she turned the switches to open the water supply and take a nice hot bath in which she could bask for a while after this little hooking up session with Josh. The latter had then joined Ashley and Chris in the living room and continued to try to light a fire in the fireplace. She let the water run for a second and passed her hand through and frowned at the cold water sending a chill through her arm. She kept turning the switches around, trying to get the water to warm up but after a minute, she sighed. As she walked out of the bathroom, she heard a strange noise and looked around, freaked out and fastened her pace as she went to climb down the stairs to join the three others. She chose to ignore the noise she had just heard. It must have been her imagination. She needed to calm down, because nothing could hurt them. They were safe in the lodge and hopefully, the bath would help her chill out.
“How long do you think it’ll take him?” Chris’s voice echoed a little in the high-roofed room. He was probably talking about Josh still struggling to get the fire going.
“My money’s on blankets for everyone!” Ashley joked.
“You can do it, man. We believe in you.”
“Yeah! Totally! Woo-ooh!” She cheered. “Let’s go Jo-osh, let’s go!”
“All right, peanut gallery, you know what? I got an idea for you two.” Josh said, seemingly giving up on the idea of getting a fire started in the chimney.
“What?” Ashley inquired.
“Okay, well, I am pretty sure that somewhere in this crazy place we used to have… a spirit board.”
“Wow, you have a “spirit board”?” Chris asked.
“Yeah yeah. They’re fun right?”
“Wait, are you saying… we should have a séance?”
“Those things are a joke, man. They don’t do shit.” Chris declared. Synthya descended the last step of the stairs and walked towards them.
“No way, bro. We used to do it all the time. Me and… well…”
“Hey, josh.” He turned his head to her upon hearing her voice. “There’s no hot water.”
“Oh yeah, just gotta fire up the boiler. It’s in the basement.” He looked at Chris and Ashley. “You guys see if you can find the spirit board.”
“Chris let’s go find it! It’ll be like a scavenger hunt!”
“Ummm… okay… guess so.” Chris was apparently not as excited about the idea, but he followed Ashley anyway.
“Rad. You’re not gonna regret it.” Josh assured. “You up for a ride along?”
“Let’s go fire up that boiler.” Synthya followed him past the main staircase, and they climbed a couple of flights of stairs to reach the basement. He opened a drawer and got a flashlight out.
“Hey. You notice how I gave Chris and Ash a mission together?” He had a cheeky and mishievious grin on his face. “Yeah, I was thinking they could use some “alone time”.”
“That’s very clever.” She smiled and nodded. “They are sweet together. I wish they’d just freaking get on with it already.”
“I swear they just need like… something to bond over, y’know? Some sort of traumatic event to send them into each other’s arms. I mean at this rate they’ll be in the geriatric ward before Chris makes a move.” She laughed, agreeing with the statement. They needed a little help to get together finally after dragging this flirt situation on for years. Synthya looked around as she walked after him. He opened a door, and they entered a corridor where he stopped, waiting for her. “You know, Syn…”
“Yes, Josh?” They resumed walking.
“I just wanted to say…”
“What…?” He came to a halt and turned around to face her.
“It really means a lot to me that everyone came back this year and you know, that… you came, Synthya.”
“Oh, Josh… We’re here for you. I’m here for you. Always. Whatever you need. Whenever. We’re all gonna make it through this.” She paused, looking aways for a second. “I should have been there for you more. I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry, too.” He said softly and Synthya cupped his face in her hands, gently caressing his cheeks with her thumbs and they rested their foreheads against each other for a few seconds. She softly kissed his lips and drew him into a hug and eventually they kept walking down to the basement. “Hey, watch your step.” He warned as they climbed down a flight of stairs.
“I think I can handle a little old set of stairs.” Synthya chuckled.
“Uh-huh.” He smirked, pointing the flashlight in front of them to light their way into the basement. He opened a high metal cabinet and bent over, taking a look at the boiler. “Sorry to drag you down into the bowels.”
“Ugh, just get me some hot water and I’ll be super-fine.”
“I mean, I wouldn’t want you coming down here on your own, you know?”
“Well, it’s definitely creepy down here.”
“Yep. Not a place to be on your own.” He straightened up and walked to a board with switches and buttons to the side of the cabiner. Synthya looked around them. She really had no intention of coming down her again once the hot water would be turned on and she could chill in the hot bath she longed so dearly. As her eyes wandered, she noticed something inside the cabinet, leaning against the side and she took a few steps towards it and found a baseball bat put there. She picked it up and turned to Josh.
“What’s that doing here? Is that yours?”
“You bet it’s mine.” He smiled, taking it in his hand. “I used to play ball with my dad all the time. Of course, that was before he got too busy to hang out with me… oh well, save it for the couch, right?” She gave a compassionate look as he put the baseball bat down on the ground and got back to fixing up the boiler. “Okay, lemme see what I can do with this old hot water machine.” He turned a switch, but an empty click sound was all he got so he walked back to the cabinet and handed the flashlight to Synthya. “Here, can you… can you hold this?”
“Sure.” She took it and was about to bent over to light up the interior of the cabinet for Josh when a noise echoed around the basement and she instantly stiffened up, glancing around worriedly. “What was that?”
“What was what?” He asked, leaning on his knees before moving on. “Just shine it here so I can see what I’m doing.” After a moment, he straightened up. “Nice one. Ok, first things first: we gotta increase the water pressure before we get the boiler fired up.
“Uhm… sounds kinda complicated.”
“No, it’s actually pretty simple.” He said, now standing in front og the panel with the buttons and switches. She approached it as he returned to the cabinet. She turned the switch, waited a couple of seconds and pressed a button with a little flame symbol on it when the red light right above it lit up. She looked up at the huge boiler sitting behind as a loud noise sounded in the basement.
“Whoa!!”
“That’s more like it! All right! Five, girl.” She smiled and she high fived him as he held up his hand. Josh closed the boiler cabinet and came back next to her when another strange noise suddenly caught her attention and she turned around, startled.
“What the hell is that…?” She asked in a whisper, glancing at Josh and he shrugged.
“Could be a lot of things… and none of them nice.” He teased, tickling her arms to mimick spiders crawling around. She turned around instinctively. “I’m just… just “joshing” ya.”
“Ha-ha-ha.” She faked laughed and ended up chuckling, shaking her head.
“You were really freaked out.” He observed, a smirk on his face.
“I was not scared.” She protested, knowing damn well that she was totally scared.
“No, no, you just jumped because you wanted to squeeze in some aerobics?”
“Totally. You didn’t know your girlfriend was into fitness nowadays?” He shook his head with a chuckle. Then, there was another noise, followed by another and another, like something was hitting on the pipes. “Okay, so you hear that too, right?” He stepped past her, frowning. “Josh…?”
“…What?”
“The rhythm’s like, weirdly regular…” She noted.
“Not… no… nothing “regular” about it.”
“I’m gonna check it out.” Synthya declared, swallowing harshly. She was freaked out but somehow not as much as in the forest.
“What? Why?” Josh inquired.
“I’ll be fine.”
“It’s probably just like, not anything.”
“Why don’t you hold down the fort while I make sure?”
“Okay, whatever you say, madam.” She held tight onto the flashlight as she walked down a hallway towards where the noises were coming from, her free hand hanging down her body as she fidgeted her fingers anxiously. She might have been a brave person, but she was still pretty scared. She swallowed harshly, taking one step at a time. Suddenly, a masked man came from behind the corner of the wall and jumped, screaming as she ran out of the basement with Josh. In the panick, she pushed a mattress on the ground. The mysterious man tripped over and grunted. Her breath was quickening, and her face was distorted by fear. She felt like when she and the twins had been chased into the forest by this scary man. Synthya ran into the door, feverishly forcing on the handle, trying to get the door to open, letting fearful cries out along with some swearing in various languages. When she saw that the man had stopped down the flight of stairs leading to the door, she stared at him.
“…What?” She caught her breath, only feeling now that her cheeks were wet, and she had cried a little. She cleared her throat, wiping the tears, staring at the man who started laughing and booing like a ghost. “…what the hell?”
“Boom! You just got monked!” He lowered the hood, revealing his face and she made an annoyed face to find it was Chris. She had gone through such intense up and downs in the last minute that she just stood there, not really knowing how to react.
“Nice. Nice one. That was good.” Josh giggled behind her.
“Why w… why would you do that?” She inquired.
“There’s all this old movie crap down here. What, was I… was I not supposed to take advantage of the opportunity?”
“Are you… are you serious? I—” She had almost snapped and unpacked what had happened to her in that forest, a year ago but she let the words die in her throat as she sighed and turned to Josh, slapping him on the chest, pushing him lightly. “Were you in on this putz?”
“Nope. But I wish I was! That was too good.” He laughed. Of course, if he knew what she had went through and what this stupid prank had reminded her of, he wouldn’t be smiling and laughing like that but still, she didn’t say anything. It didn’t feel like the right time to trauma dump. She took a deep breath while the two boys high fived and she followed them, silent. Josh locked the door behind them and put the flashlight on the piece of furniture by the door to the cinema room before catching up with them as they climbed up the stairs to the living room. Ashely walked up to them, looking at Chris in disbelief.
“What… in god’s name… are you wearing?”
“I found my true calling.” He joked, pretending to give her a blessing. Synthya chuckled, shaking her head and climbed up the stairs to go to the bathroom. She could hear Ashley, Chris and Josh chatting downstairs, talking about the Ouija board but she had had enough for the night. She desperately needed that hot bath, to calm down and relax and maybe, enjoy a moment on her own, without anyone’s company.

Astarion x Tav Fic Recs
These are just some of my favorites! <3 Mix of during game and AUs
Epistles of Saints & Sinners @elegantduelliste - Soulmate Marks AU during game. Astarion recognizes Tav’s soulmate mark, it matches his own, but he's not going to tell her that; he can't have a soulmate, it's just one more thing Cazador has stolen from him. Tav is just as drawn to Astarion, but her own history has left her guarded and wary of being vulnerable. Elle’s writing of the push and pull of their relationship is breathtaking and heart-wrenching. Matching a bard Tav, Elle's prose takes on a lyrical quality and her use of imagery is unparalleled.
The House of Astarion by Throckmorton420 - Labyrinth AU post-Elderbrain. Ascended Astarion lost interest in conquering Faerun once he came across the Labyrinth, it's much more his style anyway. Stealing Tav’s violin, he offers her a deal: solve his Labyrinth and he'll return her violin and grant her a wish. Realizing this is her opportunity to reconnect to the Weave, Tav agrees. Did I mention goostarion? Because there's goostarion! This fic is filled with mischief, whimsy, and so much heart.
Fools' Work @semper-draca - Pre-Tadpole AU. Cazador has sent his spawn after a mysterious box and luckily for Astarion, his latest target happens to have a lead. It should be easy to seduce her and steal the prize! Too bad she’s not as naive as Astarion believes. This mercenary Tav is perceptive and delightfully unhinged that makes her a great matchup for a scheming Astarion.
When the Dawn Breaks… @harcourtholmesii - set during game. Before Astarion was turned, he ignored his family’s disapproval of a Drow lover. Two hundred years later, Lavender has found the lover she grieved and believed dead. Astarion brushes away her questions but still sweeps her off her feet. He can’t believe his luck in finding a target that presumably knows him, one easy to lure back when he so desperately needs to keep in good graces with his master.
Until You @bloodinwine - Post-Elderbrain with modern world AU flavor. Effy thought Astarion needed a friend more than a lover, so now here they are as roommates and definitely not hopelessly in love pining after one another. Effy struggles to fight her way free of self-destructive tendencies and be the person Astarion needs her to be. This Tav is a loveable hot mess! I have never wanted to take a character by the shoulders and shake them so badly, thank you June for spinning Effy into the world.
Lacunae @karinamay - Series set during game. Tav was once Astarion’s target, but she slipped away. Upon meeting after the Nautiloid crash, she remembers but Astarion does not. This is the one that inspired me to start writing again. It’s sweet and heartbreaking and deliciously spicy!
Pour One Out @aevallare - Modern AU/1000 years post-Elderbrain. A spinoff from the much loved and fandom favorite Kindred featuring an anxious Auri that doesn't remember her past life and a tailor Astarion that's in awe of finding his love again. This is an Astarion that's had centuries to heal from his ordeal with Cazador, one that's been able to flourish in freedom. Astarion gets his chance to be a hero for Auri this time around. Aevallare's characterization of Astarion is absolutely unmatched.
All these fics are ongoing so you must be patient, but DO give them a read and the authors some love/kudos/comments!

The Ashley Brown Christmas Special a Climbing Chrash @untildawn-secretsanta gift for @ash-til-dawn (Heheheh...surprise! ^_^)
Ashley’s pretty bummed when unexpected family circumstances leave her spending Christmas alone. It’s nothing she can’t handle, obviously – it’s just hard not to feel a little lonely when all your friends are off doing their own thing. But who knows, maybe there’s a Christmas miracle waiting just around the corner to brighten her holiday season! …or a couple of holly-jolly hooligans hatching a snowy little scheme. You know, one or the other.

i'm a believer
a climbing class fic
Chris, out of breath and sweating the gel out of his hair, questioned for the hundredth time why he put himself in these situations.
The answer to those questions was standing about 10 feet ahead of him on the trail, arms crossed, amusement at Chris’s suffering twinkling in his eyes. Josh fucking Washington.
--
Or, Chris and Josh are both writers for a news and culture site, and Josh is determined to find evidence of ghosts on a haunted hiking trail. Chris is skeptical... but a crush is one hell of a motivator.

Werewolf Josh Washington X Mute FemWerewolf!Reader Hidden Feelings prompt with angst
!TW: Mention of death, word ‘killed’, mention of word ‘bleeding’, mention of an attack, mild violence, implied swearing (‘cursing’), blood, injury detail (cut - not particularly detailed), knife/mention of knife, self-harm (not particularly detailed)/mention of, mention of wound (not extremely detailed), mention of stitches, actual swearing!
This is a different adaptation of this character
“In my defence, I was left unsupervised,” Josh muttered, glaring at Mike, who smiled wryly. They had been against each other for a long time after the prank and Jessica’s untimely death, they had to stop each other from changing forms and fighting every time they saw each other. “So I’d like it if everyone stopped blaming me for what happened,” he remarked, his voice quiet as he sank back into his seat, staring at the blazing fire.
Chris stepped forward, nervously eyeing Mike. “Do you not have better things to be doing?” Chris inquired, his voice briefly trembling as he was the shyer of the group, like you; but he had not seen his parents being killed like you had in front of you. “Other than sitting around?” Chris taunted, his hands trembling. Josh simply laughed quietly, shaking his head.
You attempted to stand up to defend him, but his girlfriend, Ashley, had beat you to it. “Back off, Chris,” Ashley retorted, glaring at him. “Stay in your corner,” she advised, gesticulating to the corner in the room where he’d sometimes sit.
Chris shook his head, staying in place. “We know that something happened out there Josh; spill,” Chris demanded, trying not to seem vulnerable.
Mike stood at Chris’ side, folding his arms. “We deserve to know, Josh. What happened out there and why was Y/N bleeding out on your back?” Mike questioned, gesticulating to you. Josh muttered something under his breath, glancing at you, before looking back at Mike. “Speak up,” Mike commanded, pissed off.
Josh sneered, trying to hold back his anger again. “A wendigo attacked her, okay!” Josh snapped and the others would be shocked, looking over at you. Mike glared at you, but Josh stopped him from approaching you, blocking him. “Don’t you dare touch her - The Wendigo didn’t hurt her enough to change her!” Josh shouted, pushing Mike back. You sank back into the dark corner, staring at your hands with glistening eyes.
Mike shoved Josh out of the way and grabbed your arm roughly, dragging you across the room and throwing you out of the cabin, to Josh’s dismay. You shuffled back, looking up at the door, the tears beginning to stream down your cheeks like a river. You could hear them arguing inside, trying to listen. “I’m not letting her stay in here if she got touched by one of those - things!” Mike yelled; you just about heard his voice.
Suddenly the door opened and Josh left the cabin, slamming the door. “Are you okay?” Josh asked you, kneeling down. You nodded, wiping your tears and managing a weak smile at him, not wanting him to be worried. “I’m sorry about Mike-” You shook your head, trying to act like it was fine. “He’ll probably attack you if you come back inside, so - What will you do? I can bring out some blankets and a pillow or-” You shook your head again, gesticulating to the tree. “Y/N-” Josh sighed, shaking his head. “You can’t sleep in a tree, you’ll get hurt,” he uttered, “let’s find somewhere else.” You stopped him, standing up and walking towards the tree. “Wait-!” Josh followed you, watching you as you climbed up the tree. “Fine,” he muttered, annoyed. “You can stay in the tree, I’ll bring you something to eat and a blanket, okay?” Josh ignored your protest, walking back to the cabin.
You climbed down from the tree, deciding to look for your own food. You looked around the area, finding some berries which you began to pick. You sat beside the bush, eating them slowly to make them last. Josh would be shocked to see that you had gone once he had returned, he dropped the food and blanket, looking around for you desperately as he thought you had gotten hurt. Josh would be worried when he found you unconscious beside a bush, leaning down and realising that you had picked the berries off. “How many of these things have you eaten?” Josh asked quietly, hoping you’d respond, but you simply groaned, shuffling uncomfortably. “It’s okay, you’ll be fine,” he affirmed, picking you up and walking towards the cabin, ignoring Mike’s yelling as he brought you in.
Sam stopped Mike, holding him back. “Is she okay?” Sam asked, concerned when she noticed your limp figure in his arms.
Josh wouldn’t answer, he simply laid you down on your bed carefully and draped a blanket over you, placing his hand on your forehead to check your temperature. Josh would be relieved for a moment, looking back at Sam. “She just needs some rest,” he reassured the unsettled group, excluding Mike who just groaned.
“If she’s fine then get her the heck out of here!” Mike demanded, gesticulating to the door, but Josh ignored him.
Josh turned to Sam and Ashley, a distant expression on his face. “Watch her and don’t let Mike come near her, please,” Josh practically pleaded, walking out and sitting in the place his family had left him in the forest, thinking to himself.
-
Once Josh had returned, Mike had turned to him, shoving him. “Where the Hell have you been!? You left us with her and she’ll probably turn into one of those things, soon!” Mike scolded him, but Josh brushed passed him, not caring.
Josh approached Ashley and Sam, who moved so he could check on you. “Was she okay?” Josh asked, hopeful. Sam nodded, smiling. Josh nodded, returning his attention to Ashley, who looked between him and you. “You’re probably cold, let’s sit over there,” Josh suggested, his voice quiet.
Ashley shrugged, following him. “Actually, Josh, could I - Speak to you outside?” Ashley asked, nervous. Josh hesitated, but nodded, following her outside of the cabin. “This is gonna sound bad, but hear me out.” Josh frowned, leaning against the wall. “I think that - this isn’t working out,” she murmured, thinking about him and you and the way he acted with you.
Josh would be shocked, trying to grab her hand, but she stepped back. “What do you mean? A-Ashley, it’s been great-”
“Yeah, it has,” Ashley affirmed, “but - I don’t think it’s right.” Ashley acknowledges the confused expression on his face, hesitating as she continued. “I don’t think we’re meant for each other,” she admitted, “and I’m sorry.” Ashley walked back inside, leaving Josh to ponder over what had happened, shaking his head and rubbing his face, cursing under his breath.
-
Josh tried to chase you as you ran in the direction of the forest, watching you as you attempted to climb yet another tree. “Get your ass down here before I drag you down myself,” Josh threatened playfully, trying to climb the tree, but failing miserably. “Okay, fine, you win,” Josh groaned, smirking at you taunted him from above. “You can’t stay up there forever,” he remarked knowingly, grinning at your reaction. “Are you sure you want to commit to living in a tree for the rest of your life to evade me?” Josh asked, tilting his head partially. You nodded, swinging on a branch and climbing to the centre, sitting against the trunk. “I guess annoying season is finally here,” he commented, to which you agreed, smiling sheepishly. You noticed snow gathering on the branch and you scooped it up, chucking it down at him. Josh brushed the snow off of him, glaring at you. “You didn’t,” he uttered, “really? You’ll get it when you come down here,” he warned, a jovial tone in his voice so you knew he didn’t want to kill you.
“Hey-!” A familiar voice called out near them and Josh turned around, noticing the figure.
You peeked around the branch, craning your neck to see who it was. “Is that who I think it is?” Josh murmured, before approaching the man. “It’s you - You saved my life!” Josh claimed, shaking the man’s hand. “Y/N, get down here!” Josh called to you, but you stayed in the tree, worried. You had been honest to this man and you had admitted your feelings for Josh to him, you didn’t want him to recognise you and mention it. Once you realised that it would be impolite, you climbed down, nervous. “You remember Y/N, don’t you?” Josh asked, hooking an arm around you.
The man nodded, smiling. “Of course I remember you,” he announced, acknowledging the expression on your face before he asked any questions about the two of you. “It’s great to find you both again,” he remarked, pulling you both into a hug. “I was worried that maybe you’d left already,” the man admitted, stepping back. “I’m assuming the others are here, too?” The man guessed, pointing at the cabin with his lantern.
Josh nodded, looking over at the cabin. “They’re all inside, if you’d like to go inside since it’s cold,” Josh led the both of you inside, guiding the man to a chair. You noticed Mike glaring at you again and you backed away, afraid. You frowned, reluctantly slipping out of the cabin and walking towards the tree, climbing up and staying in place.
Half an hour later you heard the door open again and Ashley walked out, Josh following her. “Ashley, wait-”
“Don’t bother, Josh, okay? I just don’t think we belong together,” she confessed.
Josh shook his head, reaching out for her, but she stepped back. “What is this really about, Ashley?” Josh inquired, worried. “Are you angry at me?” Josh pried, hoping that he could fix it.
Ashley shook her head, avoiding his searching gaze. “I’m not angry at you, Josh,” she assured, reluctant before continuing with what she wanted to say. “It’s about Y/N,” she stated and Josh would be confused.
“Did-Did she tell you to do this-?” Josh asked, his voice quiet.
Ashley shook her head again, shifting on her feet. “I - I can see that you like her, Josh, and don’t try to deny it either. I think that you both belong together more than me and you. Anyway,” she continued, “I - I might try things out with Chris.” Ashley shrugged, walking back into the cabin, leaving Josh to kick at the snow, scoffing. You watched him, tears blurring your vision.
You reluctantly climbed down the tree, wanting to help him. Once Josh noticed you approaching, he glared at you and you stopped in place. ‘I didn’t know,’ you signed to him, the tears beginning to run down your cheeks.
Josh stepped back as you stepped closer, not daring to let you come close to him. “Stay away from me,” Josh muttered, turning away and walking back into the cabin. You felt something pierce your heart and a sob escaped your lips, before you turned and ran away as fast as you could.
-
Josh had felt guilty for what had happened and he went outside to check on you, but you were gone. Josh became panicked, stricken with fear as he thought that you had gotten hurt. Sam and the others helped him search for you in the forest, but they all couldn’t find any trace of you. Josh stopped when he noticed droplets of blood on the floor, which he followed, sensing that it was your’s. Josh stopped suddenly when he noticed a massive amount of blood in the snow and he frowned, averting his greenish-yellow eyes to the floor. Josh’s ears suddenly lifted when he heard sniffling and soft crying, following the noises to a tree, which you were hidden behind. You were curled up underneath the tree, a long cut along your stomach. Josh changed back to himself, kneeling down beside you. “Y/N,” he uttered, his voice choked and shaking as he lifted the lower part of your top to get a better look at the cut. You whimpered, trying to hide it. “Who did this to you?” Josh inquired, trying to control his anger. You hesitated, before showing him the knife you held in your hand. Josh realised that you had done this to yourself and he shook his head, taking the knife from you and trying to stall the bleeding, carefully lifting you. “Don’t ever do that again, okay?” Josh scolded you, his voice firm. “If I catch you trying that-”
“Josh!?” Ashley’s voice rang out nearby and suddenly a piercing cry followed, a cry of a Wendigo. Josh would panic, looking down at you as he didn’t know what to do. ‘Go,’ you mouthed to him. Josh hesitantly laid you down, slowly backing away, though he didn’t want to leave you. Josh changed back to his wolf form, running as fast as he could. You groaned, glancing down at the wound you had created. You felt weak; fatigued. You leaned back against the tree, your eyelids fluttering shut.
Once you woke up, someone was carrying you, but you couldn’t see who it was; your vision was blurry. Once your vision cleared, you realised it was Josh who was carrying you. Once they had all gotten back to the cabin, Josh lowered you onto the bed again, not daring to meet your gaze. You noticed his necklace on the bedside table, reaching over, but he stopped you. “Do not touch that,” he spoke quietly, nervous. You withdrew your hand, glancing up at him, curious. “I’m sorry, it just - means a lot to me,” he uttered, a weak smile on his face. “How is your wound?” Josh asked, changing the subject. “I patched you up when you were unconscious,” he affirmed, gesticulating to the bandage. “I knew you wouldn’t like stitches so, I - avoided that,” he remarked, to which you nodded gravely. “O-One thing I want to know is - Why did you do it?” Josh asked, genuinely curious. You turned your face away, shrugging. “So you just decided to create a massive cut on your stomach which turned into an open wound for no reason?” Josh questioned sarcastically, annoyed. “Just tell me the truth, okay,” he demanded, trying not to lose his temper again.
You reluctantly turned to face him again, worried about what he might think of you. ‘I did it because I thought that I deserved it,’ you admitted, ‘because of what happened with you and Ashley - it’s my fault.’
Josh shook his head, glancing down at you. “It wasn’t your fault, Y/N,” Josh assured, placing his hand on your’s. “I shouldn’t have taken my anger out on you,” he admitted, feeling like an idiot. “I’m so sorry,” he uttered, his voice hushed, close to a whisper. “But, this,” he gesticulated to the bandage, “that was up there with some of the stupidest shit you’ve ever done.” You nodded, staring at the ceiling through glistening eyes. “Don’t cry,” he murmured, before he brushed away your tears with his thumb gently.
-
Once you had gotten better, you hung out with Josh more often. A few days later you were on the way back to the cabin with him, after the both of you had been exploring the area more. Josh held open the door for you, shocked when he noticed Ashley and Chris together, kissing on the sofa. “You have got to be kidding me,” Josh muttered, to which Chris and Ashley nervously looked over at him.
Ashley groaned, rubbing her temple. “What now, Josh?” Ashley uttered, annoyed. “We aren’t together anymore, why is this a problem for you?” Ashley questioned, glaring at him. You nervously glanced at him, not knowing what to do and feeling awkward. “You’re together with Y/N now, aren’t you?” Josh shook his head, reluctantly glancing back at you, before looking back at Ashley again.
You frowned, shaking your head. You walked passed them, not wanting to get involved with the situation. “Trust me, Ashley, arguing with you right now is quite possibly the last thing I had wanted to be doing tonight, so I won’t.” Josh walked out of the room, noticing you sitting in the corner. Josh slowly approached you, kneeling down in front of you. “Fuck what everybody else thinks, Y/N,” he began, “you’re my best friend, no take-backs, okay?” You smiled weakly, nodding and hugging him.
You pulled out of the hug, meeting his gaze. ‘Hanging out together - that’s normal, right?’ You asked, nervous.
Josh nodded, surprised. “Tell you what - There had better be coffee in here somewhere,” Josh stood up and searched the room, until he found a couple pouches for the both of you, making two mugs of coffee. “Here,” he passed a mug to you, sitting beside you with his. “I’ll be honest with you, I wasn’t sure about being with Ashley for a time, anyway.” You glanced at him, confused. “I even - Thought about what it would be like if I.. Was with you, instead.” You turned to face him, placing the mug down and listening patiently to him. “I just.. I like you, Y/N, but - I don’t know what to do.” You gently turned his face to your’s, leaning in slowly, before kissing him softly. Once you’d pulled away, your eyes locked with his. Josh then pulled you closer to him, closing the gap and kissing you again, a deeper kiss.
Sam walked into the room, surprised when she saw the both of you together. Josh would be startled, moving back. “Oh my God, please don’t tell them,” Josh spoke, his words stumbling over each other. You frowned, staring down at your hands. Josh looked back at you, hesitating, before pulling you close to him. “You know what - I.. I don’t care,” he uttered, smiling at you. “I love you,” he whispered, “tell them if you want, I’ll just be in here with Y/N.” Sam stepped out of the room, giggling quietly.

Josh Washington X Reader Cute prompt
Josh grinned when you dragged yourself into the room, clearly exhausted. Alice looked between you both, before she rolled her eyes, smirking as she shook her head. “If I don’t get my coffee soon someone is going to die,” you mumbled, and Josh nodded, standing up and pouring you the prepared coffee he’d made a few minutes earlier.
You sank on the sofa where Josh was sitting, and you tried to act innocent when he came back into the room. “You’re lucky you’re cute,” he remarked, and you giggled, unable to stop yourself. “Here’s your coffee, princess,” he continued as he set down the mug in front of you, sitting on the arm of the sofa beside you.
“Thank you,” you responded, before you leaned forward to pick up the mug.
☾༒☯︎︎
You woke up when you heard Josh whimpering next to you, and you guessed that he was having a nightmare again. You gently shook him to wake him up, and he panicked, moving away from you. “Hey, you’re okay,” you reassured him, speaking as gently as you could. Josh would be relieved, letting you wrap your arms around him as he looked around the room warily. “You were just having a nightmare,” you stated, and he nodded gravely, burying his face against your shoulder.
☾༒☯︎︎
Josh had been worried about you as you had been out for a long time now, and he rushed to the door when he heard clicking and the creaking of the porch steps outside. Josh would be surprised to find you standing in a rather weak, forced position, and you had scratches and red stains almost all over you. “You - You’re bleeding, Y/n,” he whispered, stepping closer to you. You gave a feeble growl, unable to respond to him, and shortly you felt your legs give way as you collapsed. “Y/n!” Josh cried, rushing up to you and crouching down beside you. “Shit,” he whispered as he tried to think of what he could do, “shit, shit.” Once Josh had calmed down, he carefully picked you up and carried you inside, knowing he’d have to try and treat you, himself.
Shortly after Josh had bandaged you up and cleaned your scratches, you began to wake up, and managed to lift your head slightly when you noticed Josh sitting next to you with his face buried into his hands. When Josh heard you move, he lowered his hands, and you frowned when you noticed that his cheeks were stained by his tears. “I thought I lost you,” he whispered shakily, before he carefully wrapped his arms around your neck. Josh smiled weakly when you pulled out of the hug and began to lick his cheek, and you would be happy that you’d cheered him up somewhat. “You need to stop being so damn cute,” he remarked, and you grinned, your eyes glinting. You then seemed surprised by something, and Josh would be concerned, until he noticed you nudge your stomach with your nose gently. “Did one of the puppies just kick?” Josh asked, and you nodded as you looked up at him again. “That - That’s awesome,” he mused, and you smiled warmly at him, before looking back at your stomach again. “Can I-?” Josh requested, gesticulating to your stomach. You nodded, and he gently placed his hand on your stomach, thinking about the first time you’d shown your wolf form to him.
~~~~~
I enjoyed writing this one! Enjoy everyone! ❤️
Further information: A different idea - Since Y/n is a werewolf, she needs to give birth to pups in her wolf form, and then they can be taught how to phase when they are older.
