I think Pennsylvania will give biden 270. Most of the ballots counted rn are vote by mail or provisional which are favoring biden like ~70%. If this keeps up he’ll win by like 100k. Pretty sure the republicans allowed them to count the Election Day votes first so it’ll look close when really 100k win is solid

I’m gonna be honest with you. it seems likely that one way or another (whether its the way you’ve outlined here, or another route) Biden is going to get to 270. this is what I want and what I voted for. But. 

The waiting to know in and of itself makes me anxious. But secondly, I am waiting for what comes on the other side. Nothing, I hope. But we’ve watched four years of this president and this administration explicitly and implicitly encouraging its base of followers to enact violence against its detractors. I absolutely worry about what happens when this thing is called. 

Like I said, I hope nothing and that I’m worried for nothing and that my concerns won’t matter.  But I am deeply worried about an immediate, possibly violent backlash. But I’m also worried about the sigh of relief from people who think the work is done just because they get Biden in office. We can’t afford that either. 

Anyway, anon, this probably isn’t what you came here for, but! oh well.

Attn Canadians

The Canada-U.S. Safe Third Country Agreement is a treaty that requires asylum seekers to request refugee status in the first country they land in. This is predicated on the assumption that the American and Canadian asylum policies are equivalent, which they never have been, and certainly are not now.

So as it stands, if a person seeking asylum lands in the US but tries to cross by land to Canada, they are required to seek asylum in the US. 

Please call your MP and encourage them to tell Trudeau to suspend this treaty. I’ve included a script below:

Hello,

My name is NAME and I live in RIDING.

I am calling to request you demand Prime Minster Trudeau suspend the Canada-U.S. Safe Third Country Agreement. Recent events, including  the unlawful separation of children and their parents, and  the US Attorney General indicating domestic violence is no longer an acceptable reason to apply for asylum; have demonstrated the United States is no longer an acceptable alternative safe country.

I encourage you to stand up for Canadian values and honor its obligations to constitutional, legal, and international law.
