Zippo Slims … always a touchy subject. Some guys hate ‘em - call ‘em “lady lighters”. And for collectors, they’re valued at half or less than their full-sized counterparts.

But. There’s a but. Some have even better graphics than full-sized and they’ve been produced since the late-1950s so the old ones are just as rare (or more so) than the big ones. Think about it - the majority of smokers were men and that means the majority of Zippos are standard sized.

I definitely think women carried Slims. And they were marketed to the ladies. But looking at my photo - I’m pretty sure there aren’t too many ladies named “Bill”. So plenty of guys carried them, too. In fact, they fit pretty well in the pocket.

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, if you’re collecting on a budget and want vintage advertisers - check out the Slims and save a ton. Or if you just want to own an important model in the Zippo range, find a Slim you like. Don’t give in to the stereotypes or shame! #slimshady

Wow! Things were so much more classy back in the day. For example … this Ronson Commander cigarette case and lighter combo.

Here are the elegant details. First manufactured in 1939, this guy is not only 14K gold plated but covered with Moroccan leather. Like most Ronsons, you could have it monogrammed.

Open it up and you’ll find a silk lining on which you can place 15 cigarettes. Put it this way … if you carried a Ronson Commander, you were a BOSS.
