Working on the next Haat, Ijaa, Haa’it update, which is proving to be. A Tad Tricky. Considering I don’t really know most of the characters or plot involved beyond other people’s fan fic and wookiepedia. But I’m still giving it a try regardless!
---
Jaster wakes up slowly. That, generally, is a good sign.
His nose twitches at the nearby scent of bacta, overlaying the more faded traces of smoke and burnt skin. There are voices, distant, muffled. Someone else breathing in the same space.
Cautious, Jaster cracks one eye open, and sees the overhead cloth of a medical tent. Annoyingly familiar. He doesn’t feel terribly hurt, but it’s entirely possible for pain medication to be interfering in that assessment.
“Doc said you could sit up, if you want.”
And just like that, all the tension releases from Jaster’s body. Jango is here. Jango is well enough to sound amused, which means things can’t have gone too badly while Jaster was unconscious. He peels both eyes properly open, and turns his head towards the familiar voice, ready to ask for an update and a casualty report as well as a very simple are you alright, but the words all catch in his throat.
That isn’t Jango.
Jaster can’t say how he knows, he just does. Something in how the young man sits, the way his head is tilted, the wary watchfulness in his gaze. That isn’t Jaster’s son.
A panel of the tent twitches aside. A figure in heavily mud-splattered armor steps through, and freezes in place. “Buir.”
“Jango-?”
Yanking his helmet off, the actual Jango strides up to the side of Jaster’s cot and drops to one knee. “How do you feel? Are you alright?”
“...think I must’ve hit my head harder than I thought,” Jaster huffs, glancing away from his son’s anxious face to that of the- ghost? Shapeshifter? The being currently sitting and watching them with a faintly sad smile.
“Oh. No, that’s Boba. Who is apparently related to me but won’t say how,” Jango grumbles, rolling his eyes. Then his gaze hardens, deadly serious. “Jaster. He saved your life.”
“...Montross?”
“Dead,” the stranger with his son’s face answers. “Along with the Death Watch members who ambushed you. Hope you don’t mind I borrowed these,” he says lightly, lifting up Jaster’s favorite blaster and a vibro-knife usually tucked into the back of his belt.
Jango gives him a brief warning glare. Jaster hums. “Suppose I don’t. As long as I get them back, anyway.” Taking the none too subtle hint, the stranger passes the weapons to Jango, who snorts but lets Jaster have them.
Both have been cleaned.
Maybe that’s what lets the sense of wariness ease in Jaster’s chest. “Boba, was it?”
“Yessir. Boba Fett.”
“Have anywhere you need to be getting back to, Boba Fett?”
“Not at the moment, no.”
Nodding, Jaster sets down his weaponry and looks the young man straight in the eye. “How would you feel about joining the True Mandalorians, then?”

So, this is just an amusing series of thoughts I had that I have to share.
Obi-Wan looks at his Commander, a frown hidden behind his carefully trimmed beard, "Commander. Does it bother you? That some of your brothers remain behind on Coruscant?"
Cody looks startled for a moment, "You mean Fox and his Guard?" He clarifies, and when Obi-Wan nods, he shakes his head, "Fox and our brothers in the Guard are some of the highest trained and most responsible men I've ever met. We're lucky to have them guarding the home front."
Obi-Wan hums thoughtfully, "I see." He says, after he rolls Commander Cody's words around in his mind for a moment, "Then the Order should do something nice for them."
Meanwhile
"So...Hypothetically," Thorn says from where he's leaning against a crate that's filled with highly explosive materials, "What happens if Fox don't disarm that bomb?"
Captain Dusk doesn't look up from his datapad, "Well, it blows up, and lots of people die. Google says that you need to disconnect the timer, ori'vod."
Thorn nods, "Right, well obviously. But, like, what happens after?"
"Oh that's easy," Fox says, his voice slightly muffled from the wire clippers in his mouth, "We get accused of Terrorism, and all of our vod'e get decommissioned."
"Ah...right." Thorn says.
"But we'll be dead too, so it won't be our problem." Dusk adds absently, "How that disarming coming, Commander?"
Fox takes a moment to glare at Dusk, "I went to Command School, not Disarm this Bomb in 30 seconds school. Read the instructions. What's next?"
Thorn slides down to a sitting position, "Should we be concerned that we're all so unconcerned about this?" He asks the room at large. And, when his brothers don't answer, he turns to the dead body of the terrorist lying on the ground next to him, "I feel like we should be concerned, don't you, pal? Hm? No? Okay then."
Basically, the Guard is a hot mess, but they pretend real good

@lucdarling replied to your post “so all of the fic where the GAR and Coruscant...”:
pls give me your fic recs, friend. this sounds very relevant to my interests.
oh heckie yes i got u boo @lucdarling
Fics Being Mean to the Coruscant Guard:
Two Strikes / Crowning Glory A variety of steps Cody takes to ensure the Guard doesn't get abused as horribly -- Fox and his men might not be on the front lines, but they're still Vod'e -- and their consequences.
linking to the first fic in the series, the story starts out mostly with Cody being a slut (affectionate) but then goes on to get into the Tragedy of Darth Plageius the Coruscant Guard and Fixing It and tbh if you read nothing else read this series it is So Good. make sure to follow the links, things are slightly confusing and non-sequential if you don't
it also actually addresses post-trauma stuff too which is AMAZING, yes def read this but be sure to put some time aside for it the series is like 500k and you Will want to read it all in one sitting and then you might get yelled at by your wife for not sleeping for three days or that might just be me, 100/10
Galaxy-Saving Memes You can only access the page if you're GAR. The Coruscant Guard decides to infiltrate it because they are tired of being ignored, and honestly? Their memes are way better. Or, the Guard saves millions of lives through stupid internet posts.
second on the 'if nothing else read this' list, unless you dislike epistolary stories, in which case you can skip. but it is short and it is fucking HILARIOUS which you would think wouldn't be possible given the subject matter but no, it is great, 100/10
The Adoption Wars The only thing stronger than the dark side is Rex's ability to get adopted. Or: the one where Rex would really like everyone to know that he is perfectly capable of taking care of himself. Oh, and Fox finally gets to kill a sith.
only somewhat about Being Mean to the Guard but by god it is cute and adorable but also makes you Feel Emotions, excellent story 10/10
Their Days Are Darker After the death of ARC Trooper Fives, an altercation at 79's leads Wolffe to spend his leave snooping around the Coruscant Guard. Fox assumes he'll drop it and leave the Corries to their fate; it's what everyone else has done. He is very, very wrong.
so this is heartbreaking in the whole 'doesn't understand that what is happening is wrong' kind of way and tbh Cody is a little bit more of a dick than i usually imagine him but it is still Quite Excellent 10/10
exploitation, hesitation The Coruscant Guard makes a mistake while working with the 212th Attack Battalion. Fox prepares to take the heat.
EXCELLENT writing with the whole 'pov character thinks one thing is happening while outside characters Definitely Do Not', fox is so self-sacrificing which is why and how we love him 10/10
learning solitude It's a gradual, insidious thing, Fox's absorption into the Chancellor's office. The Chancellor wants a clone commander of his own, so he gets one. All Fox gets is a position far away from his brothers, a lesson in how to work around natborns who detest his very existence, and a seemingly endless list of monotonous jobs to keep him occupied through all his waking hours and beyond. Fox misses Kamino.
less Guard more Fox, but man what a way to emotionally stab you in the face! lots of gaslighting and manipulation and it is part of a series but the series also gets Extremely Dark at the end before having a recovery/happy ending, so ymmv 10/10
Blood Iron Fox has seen many things seized during raids. Illegal weapons, Spice and other assorted of banned drugs, slaves, carnivorous beasts trained for the fighting rings, the list goes on. Nothing prepared him for finding beskar among the crates of contraband and bad life choices.
so much worldbuilding fuck yeah! semi-the mandalorian crossover, the Guards have it Real Fucking Rough but then they run into some traditional mandos with hearts of gold beskar, v excellent 10/10
i'm sure there are others! well i know there are others, but these are the ones i remember standing out/have read so far. all of these have happy endings, i wouldn't do that to you (and tbh don't really read stuff w/o happy endings myself)
go forth and read whump!

Hello there! I’ve been going through your list of codywan fic recs from when Kenobi aired and was wondering if you had any others! All have been so wonderful so far!
Hi!! I am SO sorry I took this long to respond. I entered new fandoms and lost contact with Codywan for a bit but I'm back! 4 fic recs and one shameless self-promoting just for you :)
Codywan Fic Recs Part 2
Pave Your Way with Stones Well Chosen by TrickyTricky (18 899 words) Mature
Summary: Cody has always been a man of singular focus and exceptional skill. When he suddenly finds himself loosed from the chip’s control, after years of service to the Empire, there is nothing to be done but to use every resource in his arsenal to carve out a new life for himself. He will free what brothers he can. He will find the Jedi his hands were forced to betray and make things right. He will build them all a haven to shelter from the cruelties the galaxy has never stopped inflicting.
And perhaps, somewhere in the midst of all that, he can find a way to make peace with himself again, as well.
One of my all time faves. It's very Cody and Vod'e centric, which I absolutely adore. I also really liked how Tricky handled and wrote Cody and Obi-Wan's reunion seeing as they are traumatised people who have lived through and done horrible things. Graphic Depiction of Violence, so if that's not your thing, I suggest skipping this one.
Next three (3) are Sith!Obi-Wan AU
different kind of danger in the daylight by Serie11 (29 202 words) Explicit
Summary: The Clone Wars are hurtling towards their third year when a new actor enters the field – a Sith with mysterious goals and an even murkier history.
Cody leads the 221st, and reports to General Jinn. But when he finds himself entangled in a dark plot that spans from one edge of the galaxy to the other, the only thing to do is cut the knot at the centre – no matter the cost he will have to pay.
Obi-Wan hates war, hates what it does to people, hates the Jedi, and hates himself. Qui-Gon’s Commander was meant to be a means to an end – but when Obi-Wan falls too deep, trusting Cody might just be the only way out.
I fucking looooove Sith!Obi-Wan. I'm picky about how it's handled tho. I like when there's a background with Qui Gon and a whole moral dilemma for both Cody and Obi-Wan. Their interactions are filled with ''I know I shouldn't but I love you oh so dearly'', yk?? It is well used and represented in this fic, Serie is an amazing writer who uses everything to make their stories flow slowly but 120km/h at the same time. IN PROGRESS
I Got My Head Checked by frostbitebakery (75 010 words) Mature
Summary: Below the observation deck, the Marshal Commander of the Third Systems Army is being divested of his armor and weapons, shackles heavy on his wrists. He doesn’t struggle, only a mulish stubborn twist to his jaw showing his displeasure at the situation.
Obi-Wan opens his eyes, steps back from the observation window. “I need a week.”
OR: In which Cody wasn’t trained for a Sith sliding into a moral dilemma because of him
IGMHC is the first Sith!Obi that I read and I cannot stop returning to it. It's got a tractor beam locked on me 24/7, I swear. Again, loved how the dilemmas and morals are handled, you can see both characters' thought processes throughout I absolutely cannot get enough of it. 1000000/10
Name of the Game by esama (40 088 words) Mature/Explicit
Summary: There's a new Dark Sider on the battlefield, one who has it out for Cody's General.
SIMP OBI-WAN!! That man has whole plans made to achieve his goal and all it takes is one, ONE, millisecond of attention from Cody and he's caught. He's gone. Whole plan needs to be adjusted to the new circumstances. Can't get enough of it from my screen, I need it in my veinsss. 1000000000000/10. Masterpiece.
AND A SHAMELESS SELF-PROMO
thunderstorm stories by foxssleeplessness (aka ME) (5027 words, Ik, short compared to the others) Gen
Summary: During a humanitarian aid mission on Kashyyyk, a thunderstorm hits. Cody absolutely hates thunderstorms. Sharing stupid stories about your ''childhood'' with your general is a pretty good distraction.
You get to meet briefly my OC Kosand maybe Tonedeaf, I can't remember.
ANYWAY!! Hope you enjoy these like you enjoyed the first ones, Anon! Have a lovely day :D

20 Questions for Writers
Tagged by @oakashandwillow
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 100, exactly. Some of them are ridiculously short (3SF) and some are compilations (also 3SF) so not quite sure how much that number means.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 86,252
3. What fandoms do you write for? Interesting question. I think Narnia still has the highest number of works published, but I haven't written much of that in a while. Doctor Who and Star Trek also have a lot, as do Merlin and Star Wars. I've written a couple things for Queen, Good Omens, Goncharov. Most everything else is stuff I've only written one or two fics for. I'm currently publishing my first Elementary fic and hope to do more in that fandom. My interests are pretty fickle.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Pendragons' Protector. Merlin. Royal(ish) Merlin. First in my series of the same name.
Breathe. Star Wars. Clone Wars era Obi-Wan back on Melidaan fic. Part of my The Absent Third series.
Choices. Star Wars. The Young offer the Vod'e a choice. Next in The Absent Third series.
Warm Chocolate Milk. Star Trek. A childhood friends Kirk&Spock AOS AU. First in my Separate, Not Apart series.
Introductions. Star Trek. Baby James Kirk and baby Spock meet. Next in the Separate, Not Apart series.
5. Do you respond to comments?
As much as I can. Chronic illness (fatigue, pain, etc.) mean that I sometimes take a long time, and if there are only emojis I sometimes don't know what to say (I still really appreciate those, just not sure what the correct/acceptable response is - I overthink everything), but I try to respond to everything.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't really write angsty endings. Maybe High King of All Albion, but that's more bittersweet than anything else. Goodbye, my Goncharov/Katya fic is also kinda bittersweet because it's canon-compliant and that whole relationship is tragedy. I'm probably forgetting something, but I do tend more toward healing and fluff.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think more of my fic endings would be categorized as reflective or peaceful, than happy. Maybe Meant for the Sky, which is a Biggs Darklighter lives AU? Or Coming to Terms, which is a Merlin magic reveal story with a very experimental style? Don't really know.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I think someone once told me one of my stories wasn't realistic, but I wasn't trying to be realistic, so...
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope. I'm the kind of aroace who is uncomfortable with sex. I skim smut that includes plot and skip smut that doesn't include plot but could never spend enough time with it to actually write it.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Yep. Most of my crazy crossovers don't actually make it all the way to a finished product. Actually, going through my AO3, I don't think any of my crazy crossovers made it there. I did a Narnia/Sandman for 3SF 2023? I have had daydreams about putting like six fandoms and three bands in a room and just kinda seeing what happenes, but those are too chaotic to write.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've translated some of my own fic? If that counts?
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope. Too anxious to work with other people. Closest I've gotten is trying to write Star Wars movies with my brother when we were little.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I don't really ship things in the traditional sense. I focus a lot more on platonic relationships and get obsessed with the literary things about them. Parallels, etc. Also, y'know, codependence and other fascinating psychological disorders and traumas. I was pretty into Doctor/Rose for a while, otherwise platonic relationships that fascinate me include Spock & Kirk, Merlin & Arthur, Joanlock (Elementary).
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a massively extensive Tarsus IV (Star Trek) fic that I've been sorta working on for close to a decade now. I doubt the main fic will ever get fully written but some of the outlying stories might.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm pretty good at worldbuilding and those kinda long reflective, expository sections. Relationships are also a strength of mine.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Pacing and plotting. I'm pretty good at character arcs but plot is not a strong point.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've played with this a lot, though mostly with fictional languages. I think if you're writing long paragraphs of dialogue, it's not going to work too well, but a sentence or phrase here or there can be done just fine in several different ways. Unless it's just a word or two that you use repeatedly, you do need to have some kind of translation somewhere, though.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter, I think, but that was ages ago and Narnia and Doctor Who took over pretty quickly.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I'm fairly proud of Plenty of Beds, a queerplatonic Joanlock fic, but High King of All Albion, Coming to Terms, and The Pendragons' Protector are all pretty high up there, too. (Apparently I do a lot of my best writing for Merlin. Who knew?)
Tagging @grace13star, @sharpestasp, @capybaraonabicycle, @ruinconstellation, @quillsink, @syrena-of-the-lake. Absolutely zero pressure and also tagging whoever wants to do this. Curious about other people's answers!

Snippets:
Tup had been so thrilled to have been given a gift of fruit- a form of space cherries from the locals- after the 501st had helped the planet fight off the Seppies and clankers. He had helped one of the local farms with clean up of the battle- and they had given him a basketful of cherries.
They are a warm orange pink colors with stems being a purple-blue color. He had gone to Kix and had them tested for edibility for near-humans and vod'e alike. He had been told that they were safe to eat, and Kix had only taken a small handful of cherries in recompense for the use of his time and equipment.
Tup is smiling and has an almost bounce in his step as he heads to one of the rec rooms and takes a seat at in one of the comfy couches and settles in. He has a bowlful of cherries- and a data pad with a good book to read.
Tup pops the cherry in his mouth- stem and all as he chews on the cherry and happily reads the book- it's a fictional work, with romance, fighting, and all sorts of other things in it. He's quite enjoying the book.
_____
Kix and Dogma had agreed to get their karking chips out of their head- and Tup was scanned, he did not have his chip, that had been removed, thank the ka'ra and the force. It did not take long for them to recover from the minor brain surgery.
The three of them meet with the rest of the bad batch, and the former members of the 501st have a tearfully happy reunion with Echo who holds them all with a gentle sort of desperation. Having a fully trained medic helped with certain missions that went up osik shape.
Also- with Tup and Dogma at the helm of the Ship, Tech could go on missions with the rest of them more as they rotate who is flying and guarding the ship verses who is on mission. They are more able to have Omega stay with the ship, as they have more than one other vod'e and crewmate on the ship.
Which is in general, a much safer location for Omega to be, she is still trained, and by a wider variety of vod'e. Kix, she shadows in the medbay, learning more medical skills, and he calls her, "my excellent medic cadet assistant."
They had their arguments of course, but on the whole they tended to get along better than be too argumentative. They are dodging the collective efforts of The Marshall Commander Cody and Crosshair- and their group of likely a blend of Storm Troopers and vod'e.
Rex was trying to coordinate with some of the local rebel cells - if they can manage capture Crosshair or Cody, he is not laboring under a false delusion that they could capture both of them, that was likely not going to happen.

Star Wars Fic Recs on AO3
Family Friendly, some have mild language:
Mathmusic8 - Lost and Found - Fives and Kix, deals with a lot more than Fives and Kix. Also Only Partially Applied, which explores what might've happened if the clone's control chips were just slightly weaker
Epsilonderidani - Vode An, the first “Fives Lives” fic I ever read, still one of my favorites. Fives centric
Cuthalion97 – everything. Humor is 11/10. Start with Misadventures of Jedi Generals unless something else catches your eye first. Clones and Jedi generals centric
Inksplots - Nobody Listens to Kix and Just for Kix, great humor, huge inspiration to me for Kix's characterization. Kix centric
YoungestThunderbird – “Arcadia” series plus other works, very soft and fun. Clone centric
Wishfulthinking1979 – “Empire Reimagined” series plus many, many other wonderful AUs, including but not limited to Modern Day in England, Western, Tall Ships, and more. Firmus Piett and Max Veers centric (two side characters in the original trilogy)
Morwen_of_gondor – occasionally writes with Wishful, has excellent works too, working on an incredible Republic Commandos fix-it series called Cin Vhetin. Generally clone centric
MeridianPony – Dominos, time travel fix-it, very good characterization. Fives and Echo centric
Ariel_Sojourner - Back From the Future: Episode VI The Clone Wars, time travel fix-it, also Skywalker Family Values, a (very crack) fantastic Parent Trap AU, pretty broad cast but I guess generally Luke and Vader centric
LadyVader23 – Darth Vader Goes to Therapy, crack fic, absolutely hilarious. Luke and Vader centric
Gaeasun – "After the War" series is super cute and fun. Sticks and Stones Did Break Their Bones, crack fic, Fives and 501st centric, pretty fun. I enjoyed Oh Captain my Captain, too. Works are usually centered around Tup and Dogma. Their angst doesn’t always end with fluff, so mind the tags. Clone centric
Leias_left_hair_bun - specializes in softness and sometimes angst, but mostly kids being kids and I love that. Of toddlers and ARC troopers and its sequel The return of the toddler (Nibbler) are great places to start. Clone centric
sheApunk89 - "Wilder mind" series, Force sensitive Rex gets trained by Obi-Wan. It's been a hot second since I read this one, but I remember enjoying the ending and the fact that Keeli was there. Rex centric
Triscribe - "Vod'e An" series, clones show up back in time at pivotal moments around their Jedi, lots of delightful cameos. Clone centric
AllyMoslof - Operation: Don't Wake the Commander, hilarious crack-fic about a shiny who takes his job way too seriously. Excellent twist. Clone centric
whymylife - --and Your People Will Never Be Destroyed, a fantastic fic where clone cadets piece things together early and do something about it. Cody centric
Whathenshallwesay - For The Glory, incredible post-Order 66 double-agent Cody fic. Great humor, drama, and plot. Cody centric
Killbothtwins - The Legend of Liob, a hilarious 212th shenanigans-turned-fix-it. Cody centric
smilebackwards - "Mission Reports" series, a collections of one-shots in an AU where Qui-Gon lived and now has to write his own mission reports. Very soft, hopeful, processing grief, and comfort. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan centric
WeyrWolfen - Eidola, a post-Order 66 fic where Rex and Ahoska head up a clone-rescue organization. Lots of fantastic OCs, emotions, humor, and rich setting-details. Clone centric
BreakfastTea - lots of fun, soft Jedi Fallen Order fics. Warmth is a good place to start. Cal Kestis centric
HowFarNorth - Reformation, Glittering, a nice little slice of life Rep Comm fic about a side-character that I found surprisingly relatable, Jilka centric
MollyPollyKinz - The Calm Before the Storm, a time travel fix-it where Ezra (Star Wars Rebels) is sent back to the Clone Wars era and has a bit of a rocky landing. Unfinished, but has a great plot and an excellent fluff-to-angst ratio. Ezra Bridger centric
Virdant - Lessons of Peace, a short fluffy one-shot of Obi-Wan and the 212th making dumplings with younglings, Cody centric
TheLadyNovelist - "Remedial Math", a short one-shot about Luke, Han, and Leia bonding over teaching Luke some math. No prior knowledge of math required, but the fact that it's math, Star Wars, friendships, and even some hunt/comfort in the background--I love everything about this <3
Mind the tags and ratings, all have strong language below the cut:
Cac0daemonia - Will You Walk With Me, very good writing, slow-burn of the Clone War, includes excellent art, Waxer and Boil centric
Hollyoakhill - The Intruder, fairly clean thriller/horror, excellent ending, incredible art. Clones and Obi-Wan centric
BlueSunshine – “The Desert Storm” series, very very long, incredible writing and world building. Mind the tags–it gets a bit dark in certain places, and there's a lot of swearing around certain characters. Obi-Wan centric as well as other various people
BonesofBeowulf - "Stars and Beskar" series, pretty unique AU. Has great humor, action, and characterizations. Jango and clone centric (though they aren't technically clones in this fic)
TariSilmarwen - "Mirrorverse" series, an AU of Star Wars Rebels where Ezra is caught during a heist and interrogated. Mind the tags. There is a fair amount of comfort to offset the hurt, and I was able to skip around the darker spots without losing the overall plot. The series carries forward to the end of the show, and I loved the ending. Ezra Bridger centric.

@foxstronaut: #YEAH SO I DID IN FACT WANT TO SEE IT#this is so good……this au just keeps getting better……….tysm for the link to this post!!#the wider context of the time travel……the fallout of bens betrayal…..#positively eating this up#also if i can ask- what is the ‘shereshoy’ mentioned in ur tag? :0
Shereshoy is the capstone of my Vod'e An Star Wars series, which is ALL about time travel, but I keep copy-pasting the intro scene into different AUs because it is. Definitely one of my favorite bits of writing to date.
Here's the series summary:
Have you ever seen a time traveler dropped into the middle of someone else's butterfly effect? How about several dozen someones? AKA I nabbed all my fave clone troopers and sprinkled them into a much happier galaxy, with a touch of violence on top. As a treat.
Aaand just for laughs, here's the intro scene in question:
---
The Force screamed in the middle of the night, and Ahsoka lurched awake with one overriding thought: not again.
Both lightsabers immediately flew to her hands as she rolled out of bed - boots and outer robes left behind in her sprint for the door. For the first time since constructing her own hab at Luke’s school, Ahsoka regretted putting herself on a neighboring ridge instead of down in the valley among the students.
Even as she ran, the Force flickered with another youngling’s death.
Beams of red light in the darkness, matched to knots of Dark power, drew her forward at even greater speed. Bounding off rocks and trees, the togruta remained nearly silent with every leap; she instinctively shielded herself with the Force to mask her approach, until the moment she burst out over the heads of three Sith acolytes, and let her own power flare.
Their helmeted heads snapped upwards. In the span of two heartbeats, her white sabers slashed, and those same heads fell to the ground, their bodies following after a brief pause.
Ahsoka landed in a battle-ready crouch, positioned defensively over a boy collapsed on the ground. When no further Sith revealed themselves, she deactivated and tucked away one lightsaber, freed hand reaching for the teenager at her feet. “Jacen?”
“I’m okay,” he rasped, heart pounding hard enough her lekku could feel the vibrations. “What- what’s happening?”
“Another Purge,” Ahsoka said, fighting hard to keep her voice level. “Can you feel Ezra?” After a moment’s pause, his face scrunched with desperate concentration, Jacen nodded. “Then let’s go. I’ll watch your back.”
The boy staggered upright, and led her around to the far side of the school buildings: student sleeping huts, a kitchen and meal hall, storage and laundry and library. Most of them bore scorch marks and other damage, while further up the valley, the actual temple where Luke handled meditation and combat training burned.
Storm clouds rumbled overhead, an echo of the fury roaring in Ahsoka’s mind. Twice, cracks of lightning revealed fallen bodies as she and Jacen ran past.
Another set of Sith attempted an ambush, only to falter when they registered her white lightsabers. Ahsoka didn’t hesitate to leap forward and deal with them swiftly, before any attention could be turned to the padawan beside her. Jacen, thankfully, didn’t attempt to join her, nor did he comment afterward - but his Force-presence shivered and pulled in even tighter on itself.
The next enemies they came across were a squad of stormtroopers, concentrating fire on a solitary figure, who deflected incoming plasma bolts and shot back his own with the same weapon. Ahsoka could sense two more younglings hidden behind Ezra’s billowed cloak, and increased her speed.
One trooper spotted her mid-charge. He and his neighbor turned to shoot at the new target, but their bolts went wild, too far off the mark to even require deflection. Ridiculous, Ahsoka could hear in her mind, as she spun and slashed, No brother would have gotten off Kamino with aim like that; do they even bother training these shinies, or just hand ‘em armor and a blaster and a new set of orders?
Faster than droids, but not nearly as fast or coordinated as clones, which meant Ahsoka carved through the stormtroopers within moments. As the last blaster fell in pieces to the ground, she saw Jacen dash past to crash against his favorite teacher with a desperate hug. Ezra wrapped an arm around the boy’s shoulders, the other still holding his lightsaber. “Ahsoka?”
“Get to my ship,” she ordered, as another peal of thunder rang above their heads, and the first few raindrops began to fall. “Don’t wait for anyone else, just take off and get to safety.”
Expression grim, Ezra nodded, and turned to drop into a crouch. He helped Alora get to her feet, the girl holding Grogu against her chest. “Pypey?”
The teenager shook her head, headscarf gone, face covered in tears. Ezra didn’t waste any more time before hustling her and Jacen off, towards the hidden landing pad where they kept hyper-capable craft. Ahsoka barely waited before hurrying onward again.
She passed more bodies; some students, some stormtroopers, the occasional Sith in black and red armor. The rain began coming down harder, turning the ground slick with mud, dragging visibility down to mere feet and severely impacting how much Ahsoka could sense with her hollow montrals.
But the Force didn’t falter. Every leap took her from one mostly-stable spot to another, following further death knells and surges of power, all the way up to the front steps of the old Jedi temple set into the mountainside. All the way to Luke.
Despite his much smaller stature, he moved like Anakin, and she could feel the intense emotions racing through him. One trooper after another fell, Luke refusing to let any of them put so much as a single foot on the steps into his school, his Academy. More bodies sprawled across the stones behind him; only one still flickered faintly with life.
Ahsoka took over the fight.
She landed ahead and just to one side of Luke, better positioned to defend the one student still gasping for breath. “Go! Take her and go!” Her fellow Jedi hesitated, clearly torn between multiple directions. “She’s dying, Luke, take Jaina and go, NOW!”
His Force-presence flared, then settled, decision made. Ahsoka felt the man lunge, scoop up his wounded student, and bolt into the Temple. She knew he’d follow a secret route out to the far side of the mountain, where an overhang sheltered his old X-Wing. With any luck, Artoo would be waiting, engines already fired up and ready to take off.
Even without luck, Ahsoka would buy them enough time to escape. Raindrops sizzled off her lightsabers as she swept them through the air, evaporating into steam that trailed after her every movement.
And Ahsoka moved.

Do you have any star wars fic recommendations? You and your fics started my spiral into star wars hyperfixation hell and I C R A V E substance
AH OH JEEZ
I've been reading Star Wars fanfic literally for the past ten years, I think the Prequel section just all around contains the best fanfic on AO3 as a whole, and I almost basically do not. Every one of my favorites is still on ffn, and they would be such a pain to find. Check out the TvTropes SW fanfic rec page, they have The Real Old Timer Favorites.
I will say that the reason that the lead of the recent story is Fox is because of Our Guard and pretty much Our Guard exclusively. I need to finish it but it's deeply funny.
Similarly, a big part of the reason for The Cody Love is False Dichotomy , which influenced a lot of the way I see him. Another super good Cody (& Obi-Wan & Luke post O66) is the No Choir Series, first I Gathered You Here. My favorite Dad!Cody would definitely have to be Edges, which is just super good plotty casefic in general.
My Leia characterization can be slightly blamed on the best Original Trilogy fic on AO3 is "no one can stop me, not even gravity or nasa". The best fanfic summary of all time belongs to Ad Utrumque Paratus which is also great and has a good Leia and whatever but, more importantly, "black-cloaked psychic cyborg sorcerer dad with a severe breathing problem throwing an old man down the Death Star reactor shaft." Literally I've never read another synopsis that ever compared, I think about it every damn day of my life.
For some reason I used to read a lot of fics set around the Jedi Apprentice era (and boy oh boy is it hard to find somebody who writes a good Qui-Gon these days why are people so bad at it, just make him a good person who is so fucking annoying), which is likely the reason behind all my teen Obi-Wan fascinations. Guy's life is just HILARIOUSLY fucked. I read so much Melida/Daan stuff it's just so funny. The best and most influential fic for me right now in that aspect is also Edges, so go read it. Despite how many I read I can't think of too many, sorry! Most Teen!Obi-Wan stuff these days have takes I disliked so much that I ran off and wrote reel to reel about it. I feel like such an old man grumbling about how Jedi Apprentice era stuff used to be good but now it's all woobie Mandalorian blah blah blah.
More generally and mainstream, Vod'e An is really really fun and intricate timeline nonsense that goes into backstories. Obviously anything esama does, but we know that.
There's a ton of others I can think of but they tend to fall into the "Luke and Leia roleswap???" and "time travelling Obi-Wan??" category and I couldn't possibly dig them up right now jalksdf. It's pretty telling that usually when people ask me for fanfic recs of whatever I'm currently writing for my answer is "I don't read any of it because I hate all of it", but I can think of so much for SW I can't even name it. But those fics have been floating at the top of my mind because they were big inspo for the fic.
There would be fics that are #mandalorianinspo if it wasn't for the fact that 90% of fics about Mandalorians had so much random Mando vocab in them that they're almost undecipherable grumble grumble. And nobody recognizing how interesting Satine can be as a character for favor of #hotdunks grumble grumble more nuances on Jango outside of shipping context please grumble.
But thanks for reading, this isn't a lot but I recommend them all highly! And also ignore my old man grumbling, anybody who's been reading fic in a fandom for 10 years has a 'good old days'. The old days were not always good. So much Obikin.

How to Deal When Your Spooky Homicidal Nuclear Trashfire Disaster of a Supreme Commander Sith Lord Adopts A Child
(Inspired by @jackdaw-kraai 's Excellent Engineer Luke Skywalker 'verse)
1.  There's about a dozen of the vod'e who have been fans of Scrap Hunting from the very beginning.  Look, the kid was funny, poked fun at the same things they laughed at, albeit on the downlow, as it were, and the half of them that weren't really mechanically-inclined still found Luke Lars entertaining.  Actually, Force help them, they did end up learning SOMETHING.
2.  The 501st are also responsible for bestowing nicknames on Engineer Luke's veritable army of mouse droids.  The little guys are now fondly considered as "pets" and apparently have distinct personalities all their own.  The most infamous mouse droid is the one nicknamed "Stabby" who apparently has made it its mission to follow Darth Vader around.  Surprisingly, His Lordship doesn't mind the company and has been heard to ask the droid to relay messages to its young maker.
3.  The pilots on Lord Vader's shuttle knew what was up the moment their Lord had come back with the wide-eyed farmboy from that backwater sandpit.  Mental images of a giant black asthmatic Corellian duck fussing over their one duckling were NOT healthy things to think about in the presence of a spooky armored mind-reading space wizard so the pilots carefully thought about other things.   Like tooka kits.  Yes.  Tooka kits with sandy fur and big blue eyes.  Totally safe things to think about!
4.  Look, Trooper MTV-15387 a.k.a. Molotov wasn't sure why his Special Brand of Corellian Moonshine Hooch was suddenly the hottest commodity on board.  One of his brothers finally told him it had something to do with that engineer kid from the Outer Rim and Lord Vader.  Molotov doesn't get it, really.  But hey, business is booming and if General Veers himself actually ordered a case of his Specials, then it was all good, right?
Molotov was a bit surprised to get a "thank you" note from Alderaani Senator Bail Organa himself, congratulating him on the "excellence of your vintage."  Apparently, General Veers was generous with the treats.
5.  Death Squadron would like it known that THEY were the first to officially adopt Head Engineer Luke Lars because of the amazing work he'd put into making sure their ships were less flying coffins and more of the badass war machines of the glorious Empire that they were supposed to be.
6.  The 501st would like to object to that.  The Goran was theirs and they were definitely keeping him, especially after the wild success of the SUTA project.
7.  Captain Piett does not want to get into the midst of this argument.  He's fairly sure that Lord Vader has officially adopted young Luke Lars.  Piett already has all the necessary Navy forms ready for filing whenever His Lordship gives the word.   He's also gotten the same forms ready for Veers, once young Zevulon gets on board ship.
8.  Captain Piett carefully does not think about overprotective Correllian ducks and their ducklings in the presence of his mind-reading Supreme Commander either.  Even if young Luke does an incredibly good impression of a happy sunshiny duckling.
9. Piett is just happy that Lord Vader is now mostly calm and contented enough that the ongoing betting pool of "Who's Going To Get Choked to Death Next" has quieted down.   Mostly.  Okay, so the odds are definitely on Admiral Ozzel for the whole choking business and there were a few good-natured grumbles after news of That Incident at the Imperial Ball spread through the ranks.  "Why'd the kid have to stop His Lordship then?!"
Piett carefully pretends he hasn't heard that.
10.  Perhaps the happiest amongst them all was The Lady Herself.  All right, so Star Destroyer A.I.'s weren't supposed to develop such distinctive personalities of their own, but then again, mechanics tended to behave and react strangely around people who happen to be Skywalkers, even if one of them pretends he's forgotten all about it and the other is carefully keeping the name secret.  The Lady had been pleased with this little one's clever hands and quick mind, the way that he had carefully sorted through all that needed to be fixed and repaired, the marks and traces left behind by careless hands and the battles the Lady had fought.  The Lady was very pleased that Her Shadow had finally found the little one.  Her Shadow had existed in pain and grief for far too long.
She had always known that there was still good in him.
- end -
A/N:  Yes, I really went there.  I regret nothing, I tell you.  NOTHING.  The Lady Ex has Opinions, okay?
Stabby the amazing Space Roomba is a Tumblr Legend. I had to pay my own tribute to him.
This is the result of me trying to tide myself over until the next installment in the Guides 'verse! :P

Since you may have dragged me into Star Wars, I thought I’d send some fic recs your way. We Brothers, We Sisters, We Vod'e Few by infinitecompositions is really good. It starts with hurt/comfort and Obi Wan getting adopted and then it switched over to spy stuff and it does it all really well. And then the Feathers on the Sand series by Carradee is a time travel fix it with Force Sensitive!Padme as the time traveler and it does a lot of cool stuff with that and fleashing out all the handmaidens. It starts with The Lack of Angels' Wings but the time travel plot & canon divergence really kicks off in the second work The Ice of Angels' Tears if you don’t want to read the RotS retelling.
Ohh thanks

A couple of previews from the little series of drawings of Fives after he escapes Coruscant and the wayhem of the chip conspiracy. He is having a rough time of it. He is separated from nearly every thing he has ever know: the 501st, all his vod'e, and now has to tell someone that he also lost Echo. Man needs ALL the hugs!
FIVES LIIIIIVES!!! And he and Echo live in a big happy family. Canon who?
Anyway, I'm done with 2 panels, 2 more to go. Luckily they just need texture and shading. Hopefully I can finish them this weekend! I have this part of a fic written too, but I need to finish the introduction fic first to introduce characters.
Why do I draw and write these things that make me sad???? I have nearly been in tears multiple times.

The intel they had was shaky, at best, and Obi-Wan easily split up with his troopers (despite their protests) as they worked their ways through different wings of the complex.
When he entered one of the disused hangers and found a table surrounded by familiar people, every Force sensitive nearby must have registered his shock.
Nothing had indicated Dooku and many of the other Separatist leaders would be on this planet. Or that they'd be meeting with multiple rulers of Outer Rim planets they'd yet to annex.
Or that one of them would be someone Obi-Wan actually cared about.
"Nield." He could tell most of his enemies were surprised at his focus, had most likely expected to a fight from him as he called for reinforcements. "What are you doing?!"
Even though he was older, even though they'd only seen each other in brief holos over the years, he would never forget him. Even the Force thrummed in interest at their reunion, pulling Obi-Wan's attention towards Nield as though he was caught in the currents of an undertow.
For his part, Nield did look momentarily bashful, before the mask he wore as Governor of Melida/Daan fell back in place. "You know I have no love for the Senate, Obi-Wan."
"You'd bring ou--your people back into a war? Cerasi would never have--"
"Cerasi is gone, if she wasn't, she would have been enough for you to stay."
Obi-Wan almost flinched, even though Nield's tone was mild. He glanced around at their fascinated audience, catching Dooku's expression, and felt rage flicker through him.
"Is this because I wouldn't join you? You're punishing me now for--"
"Obi-Wan," Nield's strained tone drew his attention fully. "Why wouldn't you join him?"
Stiffening, having a hard time keeping the scowl off his face (he felt like he was thirteen again, but in the opposite position, raging as Nield tried to find reason). "I am a Jedi, I serve the Republic, how is that even a question?"
"Serve them even if it means going to war again? Ordering child soldiers to their deaths, again."
He rocked back, gripping onto a nearby railing, as fire-death-screams filled his memory for an instant before he could regain his composure. "I'm trying to stop the war, the war Dooku started."
"And you know why I did that, grandpadawan."
Swallowing down a hysterical laugh that tried to bubble up his throat, Obi-Wan stepped closer to Nield, searching his face, his presence. "I don't want to fight you, not any of you."
"Then don't. You shouldn't have ever had to leave, you should have never gone back to them. I know they didn't treat you any better after you returned."
"You know I can't."
"Because they care for you so much?" Obi-Wan did flinch, that time. "Do you remember what Cerasi would say about that? Her father told her what was right, and he was always wrong. What does it matter, he'd say, if thousands die, or millions die? The sky is still blue overhead. And our world still remains. The cause is what's important. And so your Jedi boss tells you what you must do, and you do it. Even though you know he's wrong," Nield finished the quote with a sardonic tone Cerasi would have never managed, "And that is called respect."
Obi-Wan hadn't realized he'd been moving forward, still, not until he stopped right in front of Nield, tilting his head to look up at him. He could feel that missing piece of them where Cerasi should have been, that emptiness inside of him that had lasted twenty years, that would never disappear.
Tension thrummed through the room and then his comm went off and for a moment it seemed like everyone might draw a weapon and attack.
He raised it towards his lips, eyes still locked with Nield's.
"...The East Wing is clear, I'll finish up here, then meet you back at the ship...."
None of the Vod'e would question him, at least not any of the ones with him now. They would obediently do whatever he said, children brainwashed to follow him, to die for him.
Nield wrapped his arms around Obi-Wan, pulling him into a tight hug. "I don't know what to do," he whispered, knowing he couldn't maintain his expected serenity when the Senate and Council would be talking about retaliating against Melida/Daan for leaving.
"You don't need to do anything," Nield whispered back, soothingly. "If you won't join, they're at least content to have you not fighting against them. All you need to do is come home."
He'd known, seen first hand, how manipulative Dooku could be, but this was more clever than he ever gave him credit for. Losing Obi-Wan would not just be a strategic loss, it would decimate morale across the Republic, even if he didn't suddenly become a Separatist general.
Without Nield around, he could block out the horror of what he was doing, what he was experiencing. He could forget what it was like to try to keep a comforting look on his face as he helped a child strap a suicide vest into place, when he watched an Elder murdering a kid just for speaking out. When he felt how young the clones were in the Force and couldn't save them all, could barely save any some days.
He glared over Nield's shoulder when he felt Dooku trying to sooth his grief-fear-pain in the Force, but couldn't bring himself to tell him to stop. It felt right, standing there in Nield's arms, knowing he could be on Melida/Daan within a few days if he just gave in.
Pulling away, he took a shaky breath, but thought he finally had his expression under control. "Did you sign anything, yet?"
Nield smiled gently, shaking his head. "We were just getting to that part." He set the pad in Obi-Wan's hand before he had to ask.
Beginning to look it over, using the Force to read faster than a human normally could, he spared only a glance towards Dooku and the others with him.
"You're buying a General of the Grand Army of the Republic with this, and I am not cheap."
xxxxxx
A/N: The quote Nield says is an only slightly changed actual quote from Cerasi in The Defenders of the Dead book in the Jedi Apprentice series.
