Following The Ways of The Disbelievers

It was narrated from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “You will certainly follow the ways of those who came before you hand span by hand span, cubit by cubit, to the extent that if they entered the hole of a lizārd, you will enter it too.” وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سُننَ مَنْ قبلكُمْ شبْرًا بشبرٍ وذراعاً بذراعٍ حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ تَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ». They said: “O Messenger of Allah, (do you mean) al-Yahud wa ʿl-Naṣṣārá (ie: the Jews and the Christians)?” قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى؟ He said: “Who else?” قَالَ: «فَمَنْ». Even though it tears me apart to hear them expressing their yearning for death at this age, I draw comfort and feel relieved that I still can hear their voices, speak to them, and know they are alive. With every message I send on WhatsApp, I heave a sigh of relief when those two ticks appear, a signal that confirms their presence. Amid the 24-hour bombing, it is nighttime that fills me with fear. I find myself frequently messaging my brother meaningless texts only to see the appearance of those two ticks. In the absence of the internet, I resort to scanning local news, assuring myself that for now, they are at least alive. Sometimes I wonder if I keep them awake so that the comfort of their presence calms my anxiety, only to remember that the longer they stay awake, the more they are exposed to scenes of devastation and destruction, the more the scent of blood pervades, and the more they endure relentless bombardments. Opting for sleep might grant them and their worn-out bodies a momentary rest from the madness encircling them. I cannot determine who is greedier—them, yearning for an end to life and escaping the ongoing genocide, or me, yearning for their presence and the comfort it brings. [x]

Walaa M. AIfarra: I study English language and literature at university in Gaza and I’m enjoying it. I have always loved writing, even when no one reads my pieces, because I believe through writing I share my emotions. I can put all of my feelings into words and express myself easier. Whenever you meet me, you find me either holding my pen and notebook or with them in my bag, that’s how much I love writing. Writing to me is a form of change, and I love being rebellious and opposing the rules when necessary.

Politics and human rights are two fields I enjoy reading about since I believe we are all equal; we do not choose our nationality, ethnicity or color, so we shouldn’t be judged based on them. Everyone has a right to feel safe and protected; that’s why most of my writings focus on the injustices and corruption found in society.

I have many dreams and goals for my life, and I’m doing my best to achieve them. To achieve the life I dream of, I must keep work harder. Since I love trying everything, I find myself wanting to pursue careers in different fields. I define myself as a hardworking person seeking change and hunting her ambitions and dreams.

The Criterion of Resembling the Disbelievers ضابط التشبه بالكفار Question: Noble Shaykh! There is a type of cloth which has become known as “jeans” and it is made into different types of clothing for the children, both boys and girls, in different fashions and manners. And this basic cloth is worn by the disbelievers in the well-known manner of tight pants. And our question is, can this cloth be used in other ways than tight pants due to its strength and good quality- and does this enter into resembling (the disbelievers)? May Allah reward you with good! السؤال فضيلة الشيخ! يوجد نوع من القماش (الجينز) يفصل بطرق مختلفة لملابس الأطفال بنين وبنات يمتاز بالمتانة، والإشكال أن هذه الخامة يلبسها الكفار وغيرهم بطريقة البنطلون الضيق وهو مشهور معروف، والسؤال: هل استعمال هذا القماش بأشكاله المختلفة غير البنطلون الضيق بمعنى استعماله لمتانته وجودته؛ هل يدخل في التشبه وجزاكم الله خيراً؟ Answer: Resembling the disbelievers is when one resembles them in something which is specific to them collectively. الجواب التشبه بمعناه أن يقوم الإنسان بشيء يختص بالمتشبه بهم، So if this or any other type of cloth is used in a way which resembles the dress of the disbelievers, then it enters into resembling them. فإذا استعمل هذه القماشة أو غيرها على وجه يشبه لباس الكفار فقد دخل في التشبه، However, if it is meant that the disbelievers wear clothing made from this cloth, but the cloth is made into a different type of clothing than they wear it in, then there is no problem with this; أما مجرد أن يكون لبس الكفار من هذا القماش ولكن يفصل على وجه آخر مغاير للباس الكفار فإن ذلك لا بأس به As long as it differs from the way of the disbelievers (in the way they wear it). ما دام مخالفاً لطريقة الكفار، even if they are famous and well-known for this type of cloth- as long as it is worn in a different way, then there is no problem. حتى لو اشتهروا بهذا القماش ما دام أن الهيئة ليست على هيئة ما يلبسه الكفار، فلا بأس. hey, so i saw this post by @/palipunk [tumblr link] about a gofundme campaign to help someone evacuate gaza right now, with a tweet where the organizers are asking for only 250 people to each donate €100 to help reach the goal. i have almost exactly that and thought to become one of the 250 people, but i realized i could try to help stretch that money even further by matching other people's donations.

so, boost this post and whatever amount of money you have to give--50, 20, 10, 1 or less--donate it to the GFM linked below and then send a screenshot of proof of your donation either in a reblog on this post or in DMs to me, and i'll match it, up to $100 (which is a little less than €100 but it's what i have).

This is Khalid, he was known for his smile and his capacity to hold so much love and laughter. He was well loved by his parents. Yesterday, his mother shared this video, saying goodbye and accepting his death. I share these stories because we have to keep their memories alive with us. They're not numbers.

I feel like time stopped passing that night. I didn't know what was happening around me while I was bleeding. All that I knew was that you weren't with me despite the fact that we agreed to always be together even if death stole us during this.

Above the rubble, I called you all night until I lost my voice, until I passed out. I heard your voice (mom, I left with aunt Walaa up there). I convinced myself, they survived. But later I discovered you survived in your own way, not as I hoped.

You left, Khalid. And just as your birth had an echo when we welcomed you after five years of waiting, when you resisted hard to live, when your twin Adam passed away, your death has an echo too. You came and left so fast I never would've imagined. Your presence was something great, like a miracle I celebrated every single day. You were everything to me and now I have nothing. All I want is to survive the way you did. May you rest from this world in peace..
