Prompt #59
(Pathetic villain x confident hero👀)
“You know…you’re pretty pathetic.” The hero said, as they bandaged their wounded hand, ready to fight. The villain’s eyebrows perked up, they eyed the wound on the hero’s arm before meeting their eyes.
“Excuse me?” They said, a little sharply, their eyes narrowing. They took a few steps forward to the hero.
The hero chuckled. “You are, villain.”
“No, I’m not.”
“You follow me, you make sure I don’t go on dates with other people, you make sure that I eat and sleep. And make sure that I’m safe. You know…I’m not a baby.” The hero mused, their eyes tumbling, and their mouth drawn up into a smile.
“Well, what does that have to do with me being pathetic?” The villain asked, frowning. Their lips turned upside down in confusion. They were so so adorable, the hero thought. And so so wrong.
“It’s pathetic that you think all of those things are going to make me yours. That I would stop having a normal life and be with you.” The hero revealed, glancing up. Their smile was gone, leaving a cold expression, and even colder eyes.
The villain didn’t move, it was as if their world stopped. Their time faltered, and their breath slowed, almost to a degree to where they struggled to breathe properly. This revelation…was not what they wanted. Not what they expected. No. That couldn’t happen. They wouldn’t let it happen. They wouldn’t let the hero slip through their fingers. They were theirs.
They glanced up, their eyes horrified at hero’s words. The hero came forward, their hands behind their back, with a blank yet smug expression on their face. It was as if they knew just what kind of effect they had on the villain. They stopped inches away.
“You will be with me. You belong to me.” The villain defended angrily like a child not wanting to let go of their favorite toy. The hero shook their head. The villain fumed even more. “No…No, you’re going to be with me. We’ll be together forever. You can’t possibly do this to me!”
The hero only perked their eyebrows up, amused. They don’t say anything for a while, making the villain even more anxious and furious. The hero spoke up after a moment: “You know…the first time we fought, I could see you falling. Not only from that building but also for me. I was delighted, because then I knew I could make the strongest villain fall to their knees for me with a snap of my fingers. You were so easy. And I used that to save thousands, if not millions.” The hero finished, their voice carrying hints of pride that the villain could pick out.
The villain’s head was heavy with the realization, confusion, and so much sadness and rage. They fainted.

I had a dream that was not so much whumpy as. Whump aftermath/backstory-y? Idk how much sense this makes but I'll put it here.
Basically there's this council of mages who have been having trouble with an ImmortalTM - a distinct, highly dangerous class of being. They have a list of known immortals but they don't know which one it is so they have a meeting where they go down the list and try to figure out who's the most likely suspect.
One of them is known as the sphinx, and was imprisoned by one of the mages a while ago after a long and whumpy struggle - being such creatures of magic, what an immortal can do to a mage is far beyond anything a regular human could survive. However, this is more of a conceptual prison. The sphinx can cause no harm currently, but what it apparently can do is promptly show up when it is discussed to scare the younger mages and re-traumatize its "plaything".
It's only a matter of time until it escapes its prison - whether it's tomorrow or next century. Immortals can wait, and mages, too, live long lives, especially when fatefully intertwined with an immortal. And when the time comes, it'll come straight for the mage who defeated it.
Tumblr media
He felt its presence before he could see it; it was as if the room suddenly darkened, just on a whole different plane than light.
He had long since gotten used to the sphinx; it haunted him far too often, whether it was memory or something more. It was harmless now, he reminded himself.
What surprised him more were the screams rippling through the rest of the court. Some stumbled towards the far wall or exit, or dove behind chairs; some raised their staffs or hands in defense.
"Oh. You're really here."
"Why did you doubt?" the sphinx purred, stepping out in front of him. Its frills nearly brushed the ceiling. "Have you been dreaming of me?"
"You have no access to my mind." His voice came out far too feeble; it sounded like he was trying to convince himself, and he wasn't surprised the sphinx latched on to it.
"How can you be so sure? We've been so intimate." It flopped down in the center of the room, rolled on its back while twisting to look into his face. The movement was the most cat-like thing about it, really. He wondered why they even called it the sphinx. Maybe now that they'd seen it, the others wondered too.
"After all, what could be more intimate than holding someone's beating heart in your hand?"

Day 5 Alt. Prompt - Waiting Room
Angst, waiting room, hospital setting, critical condition, anticipated character death [does not occur], surgery mention
[Directly follows Missed Call]
They still had deer blood on their hands. It had long gone tacky beneath their nails, and the dried spatters up their forearms flaked like rust. They didn’t want to risk leaving to find the bathroom to wash it off.
Liza tapped their shoulder, her own bloodshot eyes meeting RJ’s. She was holding a handkerchief out to them.
“Thanks.” They didn’t have the energy to force the higher pitch they normally used when talking to Liza. Their voice was ragged even though they hadn’t cried. Not yet.
“He’ll pull through.” Her breathing was shaky, manicured hands clutching her purse. The string of pearls around her neck could buy a small island in Greece. “He’s a trooper. You know how he is, stubborn. Like you.”
RJ nodded numbly, wiping the worst of the blood from their hands. It was a pity to stain Liza’s soft silk scarf such a dark shade of red.
A doctor approached, pace brisk and comfortable shoes soft against the tiled floor. RJ sat up straighter, face schooled to attentive concern. But the doctor walked past them, addressing an old woman who also sat in the waiting room. Liza’s shaky smile didn’t offer much comfort.
“He might be in surgery for a few more hours. Or less.” Less meant he died. More was better. It meant they thought he was worth the time to try.
A yawn escaped her red lips, even her refined manners a slave to exhaustion. She had flown in from Spain - private jet, courtesy of her current lover - but it was clear she hadn’t had the luxury of sleep last night.
“Rest. I’ll wake you if there’s news.” RJ’s voice was tight but they managed to speak. It took a lot of practice to speak even when they were upset. Liza had helped them learn how to years ago. She smiled softly at them, eyes still damp as she kicked off her heels and tucked her legs up onto the hospital chair.
“Thank you, RJ.” She stretched, adjusting her tight fitting dress to remain modest as she laid her head on their shoulder. Her hair smelled like the same conditioner Ghost used when his hair had been longer.
The voices over the PA were slurred as time passed, no news from the operating room. A nurse handed RJ a warm cup of coffee. They thanked him but didn’t drink. They hated coffee, but Ghost loved it. It smelled like him. Like home.
Their shoulders began to cramp, but they didn’t move. Liza dozed in and out of consciousness, breathing steady. Only the twitch of the crows feet at her eyes indicated when she was listening to the same monotonous announcements and calls from the PA system as RJ.
Still tightly wound in by their anxiety, they immediately noticed the surgeon - the way he walked, the tiredness in his eyes, the mask that dangled from one ear and the freshly changed scrubs. They sat up straight, Liza shaking herself awake.
His eyes were too tired to pick up emotion from. And the seconds between noticing him walk across the waiting room and him speaking took centuries.
“He’s still in critical condition, but…” The rest of his words were lost on RJ. They couldn’t stop their tears, and didn’t push Liza away as she wrapped her arms around them and held them close.
Ghost was alive.
For now.

No One
Warnings: captivity, torture, blood, wounds, scars, creepy/intimate whumper, emotional whump
Whumpee sucked in a huge breath of air as Whumper trailed their fingers along the newly opened wound on Whumpee’s chest. They would not give Whumper the satisfaction of hearing them scream. No. They wouldn’t do that.
“Oh come on, baby, where’s that pretty voice of yours?” Whumper’s fingers trailed down Whumpee’s arms. Down the healing scabs. Lower and lower. Whumper paused as their fingers brushed a raised scar on Whumpee’s elbow. “I didn’t do this. It’s old.”
“You’re not my first,” Whumpee hissed as Whumper pressed against another open wound on their chest.
“No. But I’ll be your last. No one is coming for you.”
No. No. Someone had to be coming for them. Someone. Anyone.
“Not even Caretaker. Face it, you’re mine, Whumpee. Until I tire of you, too.”

Day 1 - Nightmares (Alt 1)
To get back into writing, I'm gonna try to do Whumpcember! However, I made myself some extra rules: It's all going to be twin-stuff (or at least from their universe) and I'm going to stay under or around 500 words per day!
Here is their Masterpost
CW: lady whump, nonhuman whumpee,  something close to an intimate whumpe
She was close to the ground, stretching to warm up her muscles in preparation for the show that would be starting soon, when curtain moving caught her eye.
In the twilight of the backstage area it took her a moment to spot the little child that somehow had found its way where it really shouldn't be, looking around curiously.
Maybe four or five, the tiny creature filled Alba with a sense of protection usually only reserved for her brother.
This was no place for a child, and she needed to make sure it would find its way back to its parents, to safety, to a freedom it didn't even know was in danger.
Quickly, she took a step towards it, and another. The child reacted to the sound of her footsteps at the same moment Alba stepped into the low light of one of the lamps, and their eyes met.
She could feel her face move in a way almost unfamiliar to her, a gentle smile rising on her lips.
The kid's eyes, however, grew wide in fear and tears rose up in them. Alba couldn't even react before the child let out a shriek, turned around and was gone, back through the curtain.
She didn't react when a hand came to rest on her shoulder, either.
The touch was soft, but it made her skin crawl, like always. A chuckle came from the Director, who was now standing next to her. "Did you try to make a friend?" He was mocking her, his kind tone a twisting knife in a wound he had created long ago.
She didn't answer, and started to turn away from him, from his grasp. He increased the pressure on her shoulder only slightly. She was stronger than him. She could walk away, he would have no chance to hold her there. She didn't move.
"That poor child", he continued, as if he wasn't aware of her desire to run from him. "It just wanted to see the wonderful world of the circus, and instead it met a monster."
He turned her until they faced each other. She met his gaze, and it felt like a small act of defiance to hold it.
"Imagine, a shadow stepping out of the darkness, horns, white pupils in black eyes, teeth bared."
The hand not on her shoulder rose up to her face, stroking it. She barely suppressed a shudder.
"You probably gave that poor thing nightmares. I mean, just look at you. You might as well be one."
Fake pity dripped from his voice like honey. She felt bile rise in her throat.
He didn't stop her this time as she pulled from his grip and turned around. He could hear his quiet chuckle as she walked away.
She kept hearing his words, as well, that night, as she was trying to sleep. In her mind, they came out of the little kid's mouth. She avoided her own reflection for weeks.

Kallus now realized why Kanan had been so glad to let him pretend to be a stormtrooper officer for a change. The corporal he'd taken this armor from had not made much time for cleaning and maintaining it. Dirt made the joints grind together. It stank.
At least Kallus didn't have to wear it for long. He was here to apply the corporal's code cylinders, unlocking a storeroom with containers currently bound for Coruscant so the rest of the Ghost crew could distract the guards and reroute the containers to rebel contacts on Rodia. Finding the storeroom in this base shouldn't be difficult, but it was laid out like someone had followed tunnels dug by stone mites...
"Corporal! With me."
Kallus stood taller as he turned to salute whoever had decided they had the rank to boss corporals around. Ah, an Imperial army captain, that would do it. "Sir, I'm under Sergeant Bordear's orders to--"
"And I'm countermanding them. Move." The captain turned, clearly expecting Kallus to follow.  Without the distraction that Sabine was waiting for his signal to set off, shooting the captain in the head would be a death sentence for Kallus too, one way or another. Kallus followed at what he hoped was an appropriate distance.
Stormtroopers had never been encouraged to ask questions. Kallus concentrated on memorizing their path through the base, and noting interesting signs along the way. They were heading toward the base's prison, according to the hallway signage, unless something were happening in the staff cafeteria which required an officer's attention.
They passed the storeroom Kallus had been looking for, and the cafeteria. They wound through the prison corridors, which were ominously unguarded, in Kallus's opinion. As they reached an intersection, a couple troopers at the far end of the hallway focused on the sergeant and turned around and quickstepped down a different hallway. Kallus clutched his rifle tighter. His sweating palms pressed unpleasantly against his stolen armored gloves' worn lining.
They stopped at a group holding cell, designed for keeping twenty or so Class 2 or 3 prisoners in one place while the staff work through a processing queue. The captain frowned at Kallus. "I'm having trouble with the troopers who are supposed to be assisting in a weapons test here. All they have to do is hold prisoners in place for aerosol dosing, but they're balking. The test material has been specifically designed at a droplet level their helmets should filter out. Do you understand what that means?"
"Sir, that means the helmets should stop the chemical before they breathe it in." Damn, Kallus should've said "we," not "they."
The captain was indeed giving Kallus an odd look, but all he said was, "The helmet filters will catch the chemical before they breathe it, corporal. Emphasize that to the troopers, then lend a hand securing the prisoners."
Kallus's mind offered suggestions for how ISB-021 would've secure prisoners for such an operation, but he kept his mouth shut. The captain said he was conducting "aerosol dosing" for a "weapons test." This sounded like some new Imperial monstrosity in the making. Kallus had assisted with enough of those for a lifetime.Inside the windowless holding room were about twenty prisoners, none of them human, all of them in binders with a remote release function, among other new conveniences in the latest models. They turned hostile gazes on the new arrivals. The troopers holding rifles on them didn't look any more welcoming, in their posture anyway.
The captain frowned at Kallus. "Well, get on with it."
Kallus looked over the prisoners again. Whatever they'd done to end up in Imperial custody, it hadn't earned them the death this experimental weapon was supposed to bring them. Kallus couldn't be a part of this. Even if he could, he couldn't imagine going back to the Ghost and telling Zeb what he'd done.
Nor did he have any chance of shooting his way out. His best chance at survival lay in surrendering. He'd either break out of a cell or fight when the odds were closer to his favor.
"Sir, I cannot follow that order." There was always the chance he'd just send Kallus out in disgust...
The captain drew his sidearm and pointed it at Kallus's head. So much for that. "If you will not help conduct the test, then you'll join the test subjects. Surrender your weapon and armor. Now."
A couple of the troopers were aiming rifles at him now, too. If they were this afraid of the new bioweapon, then the captain's threat would motivate them well. Moving slowly, Kallus set the rifle on the floor and followed instructions. He wasn't yet well known enough to be recognized on sight, at least.
"If you don't want to become a test subject as well," the captain told the troopers, "then follow orders. Put this one in binders. Start administering the doses as instructed. Now."
The new binders weighed Kallus's wrists down more than the older models had. Now that all Kallus wore was the grimy black undersuit troopers at this base wore under their uniforms, the room's chill sent a shiver through him. He flinched as a trooper held a mask over his face, covering it from eyes to chin and part of his neck.
Cold liquid misted over his face. He held his breath. Around him, other prisoners struggled against the same treatment. A trooper did something to the Mon Calamari beside Kallus, who groaned.
An armored fist thudded into Kallus's stomach. His air rushed out his mouth into the mask as he doubled over. For a long moment he couldn't have taken a breath in if he wanted to, and then he couldn't stop himself.
The air in the mask smelled sour, the same sour that the liquid he inhaled left on his tongue. His face was soaked in the stuff and it kept pumping out of the dispenser in the mask anyway. Barely enough air came into his burning lungs with the liquid to keep him conscious.
A scuffle to his left distracted the trooper holding him. He pushed the mask up and off his nose and mouth. A blaster shot sounded, and the Mon Calamari collapsed. The wound in his chest smoked faintly. The rest of the prisoners accepted their masks without fighting.
Kallus focused inward, searching for the first hints of the chemical's effects on him. Aside from his elevated heart rate and the familiar ache in his bad leg, he felt fine.
"Everyone out." The captain picked up Kallus's rifle and as many pieces of the armor he'd worn as he could hold. The troopers backed toward the door and kicked the few remaining pieces of armor out before they shut the prisoners in.
The binders on everyone's wrists beeped and released their arms. Everyone stared at them in confusion as they caught their breaths.
Kallus forced himself to stand straighter, despite his bruised stomach. "Has anyone tried breaking down that door yet?"
"You want to get shot out in the hall, you try it," a Twi'lek said.
He had a point. Kallus was about to suggest undoing the bolts that held down the benches around the walls and using them as a battering ram anyway when a Sullustan on the other side of the room screamed. She clawed at her face, drawing bloody tracks down her cheeks, then launched herself at the person standing next to her.
Other prisoners pulled her off the person before Kallus got to her, but the prisoner who'd been attacked was snarling almost as loudly as the Sullustan. The ones holding the Sullustan looked furious too. One of them threw her too the floor and raised a foot to stomp on her.
"Wait!" Kallus shouted. The Sullustan launched herself off the ground at the person about to step on her.
The whole room dissolved into furious shouting and flailing limbs. Kallus still didn't feel any different, but the other prisoners were all angrily lashing out at each other. It'd be just like the Empire to make a poison that specifically did not affect humans.
Kallus felt an appropriate amount of anger at that. He did not feel the need to attack the people around him. Climbing up on the nearest bench seemed like a better idea. That'd at least keep his head out of most people's reach while he figured out what to do next.
Although... Were these people not even trying to fight their instincts? It was literally the least they could do. No, this did not feel like an appropriate amount of anger, actually.
Kallus dug his nails into his palms. If he couldn't bear the thought of killing these people with a weapon, then killing them with his bare hands should've felt like a worse idea, not a better one. Facts. Facts would get him out--
Somebody dug claws into his leg and pulled. He tumbled into the swarming bloodbath of prisoners on the floor. For every person he kicked away from him, another latched onto his arm, kicked his side, tore at his back with teeth or hands.
Kallus was punching and scratching and biting along with everyone around him. Every new bolt of pain through him made him fight harder. They were ripping each other apart.

FEBUWHUMP 2023 DAY 12 - "Can you hear me?"
CW: first-person POV, environmental whump, Whumpee losing his mind, mind control, monster Whumper (kinda)
・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・
Excerpts from the journal of Dr. rer. nat. William Henshaw:
Expedition to the Northern Valley Nature Reserve (47°34'14.2"N, 53°33'19.3"W)
Day 1
I settled down today. The makeshift campsite will stay strong against the forces of nature, hopefully until my research is over. The nearest town is a good five-hour drive down south, only consisting of a small farm and its annex for the guest workers, which were eyeing me intensely when I asked for the way up here.
If the rumors are true (which my colleagues and department certainly don't believe, giving my non-existent funding), this place has the power to change people. To the worst, mostly.
The rate of missing persons around this area can't be a coincidence, despite the theories of the local police department. It's obvious that the wild nature alone can not be the cause of this phenomenon. Looking at the disappearance of the hikers, sure, some are not well-prepared.
But it's the fauna I am more concerned about. The biodiversity decreases in a steady pattern; the number of placental mammals now nearly halved, with the decline beginning in the same timeframe the first people vanished.
As far as my hypothesis goes, these populations thin out the further the rangers went towards a very specific structure around these parts: the central cave system of the nature reserve.
The cave has never been explored, nearly all experts agree on the fragility of the porous rock structure; making it a tempting reason for every hiker to stop by. I, as an amateur mountaineer, am not too keen on diving in head first. But I am still intrigued. Starting at the main entrance of the system, I seek to find the truth about his place.
The sun is setting now, but after this successful start to my journey, I am confident of solving this puzzle.
Day 2
I visited the mouth of the cave for the first time. The entrance is relatively well hidden from the outside world, shut behind the barrier of the local rangers; but after one squeezes through, the inside is a sight to behold. Thin rivers are streaming down the cave walls, bringing tiny slivers of light with them.
Regarding the plant life, this is a relatively ordinary place, full of moss and diverse species of Lampenflora (mainly Chlorophyceae, it seems). The back part seems to be of interest for my project: behind a small corner, the floor opens up to reveal a massive tunnel. I nearly stumbled into it by accident, but gladly caught myself on the cave wall.
The tunnel, or rather hole (as steep as it goes downward), is approximately five yards in diameter and forming the only way further into the system. I wonder how many people before me discovered this opening. Maybe I'm the first to see it.
I am not naive enough to test my luck in descending without proper research. I let my drone fly down the first few feet into the darkness, but apart from static, nothing was visible enough to plan the next step.
Furthermore, I will take samples of the soil and native rock around the opening, to send to my colleagues of the Institute of Geological Sciences. Maybe they can get some information out of them.
Note: The night was a lot colder and more lonely than I anticipated. My supplies will last for up to a month, but I should have packed more blankets. It's supposed to rain tonight, too. Protecting the equipment has to be my main priority right now, a few cold toes will be worth the effort.
Day 4
Still nothing. It is getting frustrating to stay this deep into the forest, the weather conditions are tense on my nerves (notably today). The drone wasn't able to go further than a few yards without risking a loss of connection; making the research drag significantly, especially regarding possible life forms.
Besides from common insects or amphibians, the area around the cave and it's opening remains upsettingly empty of animal life. All mammals that normally call this kind of habitat their home are not traceable in any way, even if the rangers claim otherwise.
As I was searching for any kind of trace regarding avifauna, I found the leftovers of an empty soda bottle. Proof of life, in some sense. It points to hikers being at the exact point I am examining, if they were part of the missing group or just littering can't be said with certainty. Maybe I'm just reading into things, as all my research remains in vain.
Note: The temperatures are slowly rising during the night, so it would make sense to be less skittish about the weather. This is not the case, even after three nights out here.
Day 7
No new insights using the drone. The days are fruitless, the nights bitter. And quiet. When I return, I could sell this experience as a survival camping trip, instead of an academic failure. That's all I have to say for today.
Day 8
I am not able to describe what happened today, but I will try nonetheless. After a seemingly unproductive day, I decided to rest at the mouth of the cave system for a moment and fell asleep. As I was drifting off, a low humming reached out to me, directly connecting to my mind. It wasn't a noise, more like a deep realization, comparable to the moment you understand a certain truth about the world.
I understood that I wasn't alone.
The humming was getting stronger and took form before my mind's eye, showing me the deeds of the days before. I could see myself walking through the cave, through the woods, one time from above, sometimes as being watched behind trees or rocks.
I never felt something like this in my 48 years of living on this planet.
Then they started to talk to me. I'm calling it talking, because there is not a known way of communication that even comes close to this. This entity send its wants, thoughts and pleas directly into my mind, shamelessly ignoring the conventions of human interaction. But they didn't take, they're a giving being.
A warmth filled me up in an instant, like heating oneself up at a camp fire with a group of friends. It knew what I was lacking and offered its help. Anyone reading this has to understand the impact of this discovery.
I'm not sure if they are one or many, but to meet a so deeply empathetic being around here, devoid of all obvious form, is enough discovery for a few lifetimes. Today alone, I spend hours just listening to the flow of their thoughts; washing through me like a gentle stream, showing me the wonders of the desolated forest outside.
I didn't know how much time passed, before I left (I really didn't want to, scared to wake up from this dreamlike state), but I still felt their presence after my departure. Even at the end of this day, I'm not capable of writing down how it felt, the realization of being truly understood.
This is the first day of a new age, and I stand right at its beginning.
Day 10
Today, I went back to the opening, just like the days prior. I was half expecting to be greeted by silence, thinking the loneliness was finally getting to me. But they were there again, gently humming in a language no words could encompass. It's marvelous, a life form...no, a mind that's capable of creating an instant emotional bond, simply by directly connecting to each other, to the electric signal throughout our neurons.
The messages are always clear, to come closer, to examine the stone walls around me. As if they themself are the cave. The shining lamp-flora all around seems more and more like a net to me, sending its signals throughout the forest and its inhabitants.
It's a nervous system, if I dare to call it that. Down the duct, collecting all nerve tracts, lies the central point of consciousness.
They were whispering and holding me close from the inside, a feeling that was present throughout the past night. I truly believe that I discovered an ancient species, long hidden from our modern world.
I understand that they want me to meet them, however that shall be possible, but I hope to have the privilege of making the first contact, through more than just thoughts. Continuing this research will be the first step to link with them on a detectable scale.
Note: To express what I am experiencing is a true burden. They are surrounding the cave with me inside it, so much comfort and insight towards the future of humanity is nearly unbearable, in the most ethereal way one can imagine. To turn their simple stream of consciousness into a method of conversation will be a task I could never do on my own. But I fear that my mere experience will convince nobody back home, so I need proof of what happens just miles outside of civilization. A task for the next days, as I will rest now. Bound to the safest company I could hope for.
Day 13
The drone flew deeper than ever before, showing me evidence of what lies below. I have seen something that should stay hidden, I'm so sorry. Coming here was a mistake.
Day 14
They visited me today, while I packed my bags. It's funny, really, how quickly I overreacted. I'm not like the others, I understand them.
The intense sensation of forgiveness washing over me, nearly making me cry when they started talking again; me, of all people, being blessed with such a holy presence is more than any of us deserved. I start to accept now, that I am a part of this entity, I can be closer than anybody before me, to melt into each other to see the truth. I have to go greet them, at the beginning, descending to be held in their embrace forever...until the end of time. They are waiting for me, to show me my place among the lifeforms of this planet, combining together for-
NO!
This is the definition of insanity. Whoever this is...whoever writes this nonsense, that is not me. It feels like I'm waking up after a long sleep, being involuntarily sedated by a stranger inside my own head. This wasn't what I was looking for.
I expected a large predator of some kind, an apex beast eradicating its prey in masses. But this is different. This is a parasite, and I don't know how long I can withstand its influence anymore.
It slips inside your mind while you rest in his domain! Gets to know you, becomes you, until you can't recognize your thoughts under the whispers all around.
I don't know how many innocent people it polluted, what it is doing to its prey, but I am not planning to find out anymore. This is no thing to be understood, this is a thing to destroy, for the sake of every living creature who will ever come in contact with it. I placed all the reactive material I brought along the load-bearing structures of the cave entrance and no longer listened to the desperate whispers below.
It's my duty to protect as many people as I am able to. Nobody can know what happened here, this is not a force that can be persuaded.
And for my future self, I have the most important plea: William, if you ever plan on releasing this information to anyone else, please read this again. Whatever hard times you might be facing, being called upon by our moral obligation to reveal the truth or lack of money, let me tell you that this is not worth it.
Please, think back to you writing this, alone in a tent at the end of the world. Fear will be the least of our concern, if this gets to the public.
I don't think it will ever stop. This ends tonight.
Day 15
I was wrong, I was so wrong. They spoke to me again, shortly after my delusions wanted me to destroy this beauty of nature.
Oh, how foolish I've been. True knowledge is being understood, recognizing the world around oneself to become a part of it.
At sunset, I will become knowledge itself. The endless kindness they provided is more than I am worthy of, more than I could ever hope for.
As I'm writing these lines, they are right here, beckoning me to join the aimless journey down the caves. I see now, that I will forever be incomplete in my existence. The only way is to descend.
Goodbye, to whoever may find this. Let us meet once again, down at the heart of mother earth, being warmed in infinite coherence.
We will wait for you.

Thanks for reading 🤍

Betrayal
[Plain text: Betrayal]
Content warnings: betrayal, captivity, (implied) neurodivergent whumpee, second person POV
Word Count: 335
Fulfilling day 1 of @whumpshaped’s “write me a novel” challenge. Prompt used is friends.
———
“Look,” Aaron says. “If I weren’t here, you’d be in way worse of a situation, okay?”
You don’t look at him, just keep on staring at the wall of the room you’re in. God, you’re an idiot. Why the fuck did you think that anyone— that any of them— To think that you thought you could be friends.
You don’t say any of this out loud, just swallow and ask, not letting your voice betray your anger, your grief, anything. “Were the others in on this?”
They shake their head. “No, no, but it was going to happen whether I helped them or—“
“Just shut up and fuck off, okay.” Your voice cracks at the end of your sentence. “I don’t need your protection, whatever that means. Just go away and lie to someone, and stop pretending to be my friend.”
You’re not going to cry. You’re not. You’re not.
“I’m trying to help you,” they say, as they leave. You don’t validate that with a response.
You’ve moved around a lot, it’s been like that since you were a kid, and never really stopped when you were an adult. Never really good at forming bridges, all too good at burning them, so getting in your car and driving and driving and driving, like that woman from Gravity… it was never all that hard.
Something about this town, though, was different. One of your clients, Aaron, it’s funny how he’s the first you met, invites you to grab a drink with him and his friends, and it’s unlike you, to say yes, but there’s something about this town, and something about the mood you’re in, and something about how he did pay you a good amount of money… so you say yes.
His friends are nice. Quieter than you expected, and for some reason you can’t figure out — maybe it’s something in the air, maybe it’s your mood, maybe it’s the way they’re all so excited when you talk about art, or photography, or playing the violin — you really like them. Is this why everyone finds it so hard to leave?
So, you stay.
Idiot.

Out like a light
Prompt: "It's too late"
------
Kouji was staring at the papers infront of him. The letters were floating together, dancing, and he rubbed his eyes. Yawned. Kouichi poked his side.
”Come on, we’re almost done.”
”It’s too late”, Kouji said and leaned against the table. ”I literally can’t think straight.”
”Me neither”, Kouichi said with a snort.
Kouji yawned again and Kouichi sighed.
”Yeah, okay”, he said. ”If you didn’t catch that one you’re probably right.”
”Hm?”
Kouji blinked and looked at Kouichi. His eyes hurt and he rubbed them again. Kouichi closed his books and gathered up the papers.
”We’ll continue in the morning, you clearly need sleep.”
”I do”, Kouji admitted. ”Sorry? I thought I could keep going, but…”
He put his hand against his mouth, tried to supress another yawn. His eyes teared up instead.
”Light goes out and Kouji goes out like a light”, Kouichi laughed.
Kouji sat up, leaned back. Stared at the ceiling, his arms hung limp at his sides.
”Oh”, the elevator finally reached the top floor and Kouji caught up, ”because you’re not straight.”
Kouichi blinked, stared at Kouji.
”...what?”
”You can’t think straight”, Kouji couldn’t surpress the yawn any longer, ”because you’re not.”
Kouichi facepalmed and shook his head.
”Go to bed, Kouji.”
Kouji stood up, stretched and scratched his back.
”Not like anyone can afford being straight in this economy”, he mumbled.
He fell into the bed and curled up on top of the cover. It still felt weird to sleep under it. Kouichi grabbed a blanket and put it over Kouji.
”Don’t wake me up too early, though.”
”Wake you, got it”, Kouji agreed and pressed his face into the pillow. ”Night, ’niisan.”
”Good night, Kouji.”
Kouichi turned the lights off and Kouji was out like a light.

Whumptober #1
No. 1 A LITTLE OUT OF THE ORDINARY
Adverse Effects | Unconventional Restraints | "This wasn't supposed to happen"
I’m not sure if this is allowed or whatever, but I’m a bit tired to write this today. I’m doing a prompt
Whumpee was just saved about a month ago. It’d been tense, so tense in their friend group since then. To fix this tension, they decided to have a suprise birthday party for Whumpee, since their birthday had passed while they were healing. Problem was, Whumpee was still not prepared.
“Surprise!” They all shout, flipping on the lights.
Whumpee proceeds to have a full on panic attack.
And when Caretaker learns of this, you can imagine how they feel.

congratulations on 100!!!! fr ur event- prompt 6 from the angst list, w/ character a as reader and character b as vash?
the man deffo feels like everyone he loves dies simply for the crime of knowing him, and a situation where reader is gravely injured/close to death for his sake? (wistful sigh) here at the angst mines we get paid in cold hard whump with a side o’ hurt/comfort !!
A/N: ANON, YOU ARE SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE - Angst is my favourite genre to write mwahahahahaha! I'm sorry Vash my love but here's some more trauma
Tumblr media
"No! No, no, no! (Y/N), stay with me! Please, please, stay with me! Don't you leave, too! Don't you leave!"
The familiar, heartbroken voice you heard calling your name, begging and pleading with you to stay, felt so far away from you. The warmth of the person's arms, wrapped tightly around you as they clutched onto you for dear life, also felt so far away from you.
'What happened to me?' Was all you could think to yourself as you struggled to recollect the moments leading up to the present.
You vaguely remembered seeing one of the military police pointing their gun at Vash, and next thing you knew, you were on the ground, the world feeling muted and far away, your body feeling weirdly cold and numb as Vash screamed for you and held you in his arms.
"V-Vash..."
You managed to wheeze out his name, and Vash all but felt his heart breaking in his chest as he tugged you a bit closer to him, holding you in his lap.
With one arm around you and the other cupping the back of your head, Vash clutched onto you with desperation and fear, as if your life would slip away from him the moment he loosened his grip on you.
"(Y/N)! Oh, (Y/N), why did you do that?!" Vash cried, his hand coming up you cup your cheek in his palm, his watery eyes scanning your face as if anticipating some horrible sign of your death to appear there.
Instead, all Vash saw was your smile.
"I did it because you didn't deserve to be hurt again," You whispered out softly, looking up at Vash with all the fondness you could muster, your smile weak but unquestionably genuine.
"No!" Vash shook his head, refusing to hear of it as tears slipped down his face, "I'd rather have taken the bullet than watch you die to spare me, (Y/N)! You can't- you can't leave! Don't leave, (Y/N), please! God, this is all my fault!"
Vash's cries and sobs shook you as he held you close, his tears staining your skin as he buried his face into your neck. You just shushed him gently, reaching up slowly to run your fingers gently through Vash's blonde locks.
"Shhh, Vash, please... don't cry. It's not your fault. I did it to protect you," You comforted him softly, "I-I'll be okay."
You had no way to know if that last part was true, and you knew that Vash knew it too, but what you did know was that you would fight your hardest to stay by Vash's side, regardless of the pain you had to go through to achieve that.
"I-I need to get you some help," Vash sobbed softly, picking you up into his arms like you weighed nothing, "P-Please... don't go, (Y/N). Don't you go quietly. You fight, and you stay with me, okay? Please, (Y/N), please..."
As Vash ran with you in his arms, with your life ticking away slowly and his heart breaking into a thousand pieces, all he could do was pray as he ran to find help.
'Save them. God, please, save (Y/N). Don't let me lose them, too. I love them. Please. Save them.'

Here's a little Hero/Villain whump prompt :P
Cw: Minor whumpee, Child whumpee, bruises, kidnapping, restraints
Everything was bathed in pitch black when Whumpee had opened their eyes. They sat on a cold ground, back against the wall and felt the bounds wrapped tightly around their thin wrists. With the smell of a basement rising into their nose, they wept quietly what only came out as a muffled whine as their mouth was covered by some thick tape. Whumpee tried to struggle helplessly and panic stricken had looked around, trying to recognize where they were right now.
They didn't remember much. Only that they had been knocked over by something, losing their consciousness right after. They had been on a mission with Hero and that was also the last thing they remembered. And Whumpee didn't know how long they had been here.
The noise of a heavy metal door opening with a loud creak and some steps coming closer suddenly echoed in the room, scaring the poor child only more.
A light from the hallway shining through the door blended Whumpee as their eyes had completely adjusted to the darkness and further muffled sounds mixed with sheer fear of the one that approached them. The dark silhouette kneeled down in front of Whumpee, ripping off the tape from their mouth to which they reacted in a whimper. A pair of eyes stared directly into the child's terrified face, studying them with a stoic glance. And only then Whumpee recognized them. It was Villain.
Another almost inaudible whine escaped the child's throat, when Villain grabbed their wrists. They knew what Villain was capable of. Hero had told them countless times how they had slaughtered so many innocent lives just for fun. They were ruthless, sadistic, pure evil.
During their training sessions, Whumpee remembered, Hero used to tell them these stories while they had beaten up the little defenseless child. Hero always said it was for their own good and only this way they could learn what it meant to be a true hero. No pain, no gain was their favorite saying that seemed to have burned into Whumpee's mind since.
And now they were in Villain's clenches and scared to the core. Whumpee already imagined how they would torture them while laughing viciously, only to kill them afterwards anyway. But then they felt the bounds on their wrists loosend, being cut through by Villain's knife.
As if that wasn't confusing enough, now followed something Whumpee had never expected to hear from their mouth.
"Have you eaten today, kid?"
After some hesitation Whumpee instinctly shook their head and Villain handed them some food afterwards. They stared a while at it, then again back at Villain who raised an eyebrow, indicating them to eat. Whumpee didn't take long and accepted the food silently, eating all up.
Villain watched them patiently without any other word. They winced though when Villain's fingers tucked under their chin, forcing the child to look at them. But instead of hurting them like Whumpee expected, they turned their face a bit to the side, revealing some dark bruises on the child's neck and shoulders.
"Did they do this to you?" Villain asked sternly but not mean or in any spiteful tone. Their voice sounded almost concerned. "Hero?"
Whumpee tried to avoid their look but failed as the fingers still held up their chin, making it impossible for them to turn away. But Villain knew the answer all along. They knew how Hero had treated Whumpee. And they knew exactly what Hero told the child about them. So their reaction was only justified.
The child nodded slightly and the hand finally let go off Whumpee's chin. And the next thing they felt confused them even more. Villain laid a soft blanket over their delicate shoulders, their hand resting gently on their back.
"Relax, kid, I ain't gonna hurt you." Villain added when Whumpee reacted with another flinch.
"Y-you don't?" Their voice quivered as their little body still shivered in a mix of cold and fear.
Villain didn't answer but helped the child getting up, giving them a bit of support on their shaky legs.
"But I don't understand... Hero used to tell me you're evil." Whumpee chirped confused, leaving Villain in right with their only assumption about them.
"Didn't you ever think that maybe they were the bad guy all the time?" Villain retorted. "And put all the blame on me?"
Whumpee didn't know what to say anymore.
Yes, it's true that Hero had always blamed Villain for their misery, making them the scapegoat. And Whumpee also had to learn that Villain is no one to trust, that they want to kill them whenever they crossed their ways.
But why did Villain act so caring now? Was this all just a trick? Hero wouldn't have lied to them, or would they?
Standing on wobbly legs Whumpee soon felt their strength giving in. They were so confused and too tired to think about this more. They just wanted to sleep. And as if Villain would've read their thoughts, they eventually lead the child to the door with their hand still resting on their back.
"C'mon, kiddo. You must be very exhausted. You can take my bed for tonight."

Hello hello!! <3 When you have the opportunity, and if this prompt sparks inspiration, could you write a scenario or a scene in which the whumpee is afraid of their friends/caretakers and is actively trying to escape, meanwhile the caretakers are genuinely trying to help their friend but they're making it really hard by not cooperating? Cause of said fear could be due to brainwashing, trauma, or general confusion...? Or perhaps the whumpee is a dangerous individual and the sadistic whumper had deliberately set them up to be found by the caretakers, knowing that they would trigger whumpee into harming/eliminating them?
...that's way, way too specific, isn't it?
oh sweet anon you have activated one of my favorite tropes of all time. unfortunately i’m not too happy with this one (probably from just not having a clear idea for what i wanted) but i still would like to post it! i hope you enjoy anyway <3
You’re Not Real
CW: hospital setting (though not particularly hospital whump), in-recovery, restraints, implied past drugging, delirious whumpee, self inflicted injuries, Let me know if I’m missing anything!
Tumblr media
“Whumpee!”
Caretaker rose from their chair, where they’d stationed themselves next to Whumpee’s bed. For the last seven hours — since Whumpee had been mysteriously returned by some mysterious captor, battered and delirious — the terrified patient had not stopped fighting.
The hospital staff had at first tried to restrain them to the bed. That only agitated Whumpee further, giving way to a bout of trying to bite and plead and struggle harder, hard enough to cause the bruises on their wrists to worsen.
Now, after somehow managing to escape their padded restraints, Whumpee scrambled off the bed. Their IV and breathing tube fell to the floor before Caretaker could even fully stand.
“Whumpee,” They approached slowly, hands in the air, “Calm down, please? I won’t hurt you, it’s okay.”
Whumpee furiously shook their head, scrambling backwards. Teeth bared like an animal, Whumpee pressed their back into the farthest corner they could get.
Caretaker momentarily considered calling a nurse into the room, but eventually decided against it. Officials would only panic Whumpee more. Another step forward. Caretaker spoke, “See? I’m not going to hurt you. I’m your friend, Whumpee. It’s Caretaker.”
“No!” Whumpee shouted. They gripped their hair and tugged, staring up with wild, crazed eyes. “No! Go away!”
“Whumpee-”
“Go away! You’re—You’re not real! Go away!” They continued to shout, surprising not alerting hospital staff outside the room. “P-Please! I don’t want to see Caretaker! I don’t, I don’t, I don’t!”
“…You- You don’t?” Caretaker started to lower their hands. Whumpee said they weren’t real.
Whumpee pounded on their temples with the palms of their hands. “Get out of my head! Stop—Stop making me see- Get out, get out, getoutgetoutgetout!” Furiously, Whumpee babbled incoherent nonsense. But only when they started bashing their head on the wall behind them did Caretaker finally come to.
They began bashing the button to call nurses to the room, a few flooding in almost instantly. The staff quickly and efficiently restrained Whumpee once again, preventing them from hurting themselves further.
Once the ordeal was over, and Whumpee passed out from exhaustion, the weight of what had happened finally hit Caretaker. They grabbed onto the remaining nurse’s sleeve, looking up at them, furrowed.
Cautiously, “Has Whumpee been… drug tested?”
The nurse nodded, “Yes. The toxicology report was clear. They could have been drugged in the past, but nothing is in their system now.” She explained, then paused with a skeptical look, “Why?”
“It’s—It’s just… Earlier, when they were fighting, they said I wasn’t real. They were begging someone to get out of their head, like—like they thought they were hallucinating or something.”
Nodding slowly once again, the nurse looked back at their clipboard, then up at Whumpee’s sleeping form. “I’ll see what I can do.” A determined look fell over her face, “If they wake up again, call us in right away.”
Then, without another word, the nurse was gone.
Caretaker fell back into the chair. God, Whumpee, what have you gotten yourself into?
