PSA: If Tav fails the weave scene…

So, I’m assuming that most players (like me) thought that you *had* to pass the “channeling the weave” scene with Gale in order to begin his romance. Makes sense, right? Gale is a learned scholar, he tells you magic is his life, so it’s understandable that even he might hesitate to romance you if you are unable to follow his simple instructions and share a moment with him.

…but nope! Nope. Of course Gale is so wonderful that even if you fail the scene, he’s still down bad for you, and to top it off? His response is one of the sweetest lines in the whole damn game.

If you are a Galemancer and you haven’t seen this before, please stop whatever you are doing, sit down, view his expression + hear his line delivery, and try not to pass out:

Tav: It was a pity your lesson in the Weave ended so soon - I was enjoying our moment alone. Do you think about us being alone again?

Gale: Do you?

Tav: Yes.

Gale: So do I. You see, I'm not a big believer in fate, but I do believe in serendipity.

Gale: Life is a tempest of events that sometimes we brace against, and sometimes embrace.

Gale: You're one such event that one day soon perhaps, I'd like to embrace.

Eddie insists on cleaning the gutters because it’s “too risky” for Steve, in case he slips off the ladder and hits his head or something. Needless to say, Steve is standing in a hospital room several hours later waiting for Eddie to get out of surgery for his broken arm.

Steve’s not mad at Eddie but he’s really tense because he can’t stand it when Eddie gets hurt, especially for something stupid that Steve was perfectly capable of doing himself. He’s still stress-ranting to Robin when Eddie gets back and the doctors say he may be a little out of it when he wakes up.

Steve finally eases when Eddie blinks awake, “Hey, stupid,” he says softly.

Eddie blinks dazedly up at him, a dopey little smile forming on his lips, “Whoa, man. You're pretty."

Steve shakes his head fondly, realizing Eddie has no idea who he is, "Thanks, and you're so high right now, aren't you?”

"No, I'm single. Do you have a wife?"

"I have a husband.”

"Shit... Can he fight?"

Steve snorts, looking over at Robin who’s snickering quietly behind her hand.

"He's you, Eddie, remember?"

A big grin lazily breaks out across Eddie’s face, this unrestrained happiness that makes Steve feel like the sun just rose inside his chest.

"What? You're my husband?” Eddie exclaims, much too loud for a quiet hospital room but Steve doesn’t care, “Holy shit!” He keeps repeating it, blinking and rubbing his face with his uninjured hand, looking at Steve like he can’t believe his eyes, like he’s falling in love for the first time all over again.

As the nurses come in and out of the room, Eddie just keeps telling everyone, “Look at my husband, I hit the pretty boy jackpot,” giggling deliriously when Steve holds his hand. It’s cute enough to make Steve forget how mad he is for now.

i'm suddenly thinking about rockstar!eddie shooting a music video on some naval ship and meeting actual sailor!steve who's all dressed up in his whites 'cause eddie's a big name star and the captain said everyone had to look their best and eddie immediately folding for the pretty guy in uniform

just: eddie wanting a couple of the guys to act in the video 'cause hopefully then they'd actually know what they're doing, and asking the capt to point out his most competent sailor. the capt immediately points out one of his low-ranking ensigns (like, brand new baby officer 'cause that's the kinda shit an officer would pull) and eddie, having been raised by wayne (who i'm hc-ing as a navy vet) knows better and is immediately like "No sir, I said your most competent, not your least. someone point me to THE second class. Where's he? I need an enlisted guy." and a higher-ranking chief that's been following the band around the ship all day bellows out a laugh and says "You're gonna want Harrington, Mr. Munson."
