#your writing style and characterization have been an inspiration to me as well; from the time I first delved into Persona RPC

I’m to punch your writing bad vibes so get your butt ready.
To be slightly personal, your writing has been one of my inspirations for a while now. If I had to describe your style, it doesn’t dip into overly flowery purple prose that makes it difficult to tell what is going on, but it's meaty enough to put me into a character’s shoes and really give me a sense for the emotions they feel and why they feel that way. Little details like usage of punctuation, bolds, italics, caps, etc. truly sell your muses as their own person, complete with distinct voices. These little things may go unnoticed, but to me, It’s the little things like these that really show how much care and effort you put into your writing.
And generally, it really gives me motivation to sit down and write, whether it’s for a reply or something personal.
Your writing is very satisfying to read, and I know I’ve said it multiple times before, but it has truly opened my eyes to characters I would have normally been apprehensive or understood little about if not for you. There’s something about how you write P5 related content that makes me wish you were in charge of the game. You really hit all the things I enjoy about the game and seamlessly incorporate it to your writing, as well as improve its shortcomings.
(To be slightly personal again, your enthusiasm for this game, through IC content or OOC posts, is one of the reasons why I’ve been able to slowly come up with ideas on how to slap my P4 muses into P5, but more importantly, enjoy the game for what it is. Without you, I have no doubts that it would have taken me much longer to appreciate it.)
Of course, your writing achieving this effect would not be possible without your understanding of the game, its themes and its characters. Not just P5, mind you. P4, too. Despite me knowing the events of the game almost by heart, you always bring up something fresh about it that makes me view it in a new light and keep the P4 era going in my heart, and by P4 era, I mostly mean Naoto.
I know you’ll make me fall in love with P3 all over again soon, so I’m looking forward to that :^)
There is a lot more for me to say, you being a cherished friend is one of them, and also that you are a horrible little gremlin for encouraging my illness known as Naoto Disease, just to name a few things, but that’s for a later date, since I don’t want to make this ask stretch on for miles.
PS remember that I won’t stop loving you dani-lion xoxo

((You are a damn good, genuine friend, Liz. I needed to hear this.))
#out of cards#mun stuff#chibitantei#long post#((....I really have nothing I can say to this#there have been times recently where I get too into my head about my blogs here and whether or not my writing has been bland or boring#and I let it get to me...which then kills my motivation to write anything#whether it's long form or something short#I don't feel like I'm portraying their voice the way they want me to or I'm doing a horrible job characterizing them#it's an internal struggle because then I have my logical side start fighting this emotional side#I know it's just me letting my thoughts get to me but man...it tires me out when I'm fighting with myself#this is a hobby and it's supposed to be fun; that's what I remember at the end of it all#I think I just let my perfectionist side get to me sometimes because there's a lot of amazing writers here#and I feel like I have to keep up with them in order to be seen as a good writer#including you Liz#your writing style and characterization have been an inspiration to me as well; from the time I first delved into Persona RPC#I needed this...I really needed to hear this so thank you so much for punching the bad vibes and negativity#I know I put this all in tags but...thanks to anyone who happens to read all of these#we'll be back to the regularly scheduled shenanigans and fluff and angsty-riddled threads#but again thank you thank you THANK YOU Liz; you know I love you so so much as my friend and the friendship we have is so important to me#I won't let these writing bad vibes stick around <3))

"I like you." You said with big bright eyes.
"But no one can know about this. Just you and I. That's enough." He answered, hand tracing the side of your face.
You blink rapidly. You have always been daydreamer. It caused you tons of problems although you tried to do your best when you were out on missions. Ghost is walking ahead of you, boots sinking in the sand beneath your feet. The waves crashing on the shore is something you like listening to and seeing too but under different circumstances. Both of your gear clink with every step you take, it's the only sound as well as the sea that swallows the tense silence that falls between the two.
Things have been rather... strange since two days ago and you've tried to talk to him about it. It wasn't weird for Ghost to push you back every now and then, he was a complicated person and you couldn't be more different from one another.
You were the sun and he was the darkness that came at night or so he had said one night at the common room back at the compound. He was stoic, grumpy and hardly found himself enjoying somebody's company. You on the other hand, even though you wouldn't consider yourself the most outgoing person like Johnny, still you liked talking unlike him. You loved going out with the task force. And most importantly you loved when Ghost joined because you loved him, you loved having him around, despite his gruff responses or annoyed looks.
You jog though your legs shake and tiredness sets in your body.
"How much farther until we get there?" You ask, ignoring the fact that his frame goes rigid when you speak . He doesn't acknowledge you at first. All you hear is a small sigh leaving his lips. You kind of wish he wasn't wearing the damn sunglasses so you could see his eyes.
They always said a lot.
"Thirty minutes. Give or take." The answer is short and cold, breaking your heart a little more than before. Still, you decide to try again.
"Sir, is something bothering you?" Before he can stop it he scoffs, shaking his head. "What?" Brows furrowing on your features. "Simon..."
He stops all of the sudden, turning to face you with a tense stance.
"First of all don't bloody use my name out here. Secondly it's your own fault we've been walking for hours. So don't go asking if something's bothering me, Sergeant."
Taking a step back you open your mouth.
"My fault? I was doing my job!"
"Didn't know your job was to get your fucking head blown off!!" He seethes. "Fucking hell you can't be this reckless and expect me to clap at your poor acting on the field." Your heart begins to race, he had never said such things to you. Taking a small step back your grit your teeth, you hated that his words were making your eyes blurry. This was the Simon you never wanted to see. And yet there he was. "Now we lost the damn intel thanks to you." He spits. But something isn't adding up.
"It's not just that. You've been acting strange for a few days now, Ghost. Don't come and tell me it's just because I did what I was supposed to do!" He stiffs yet again. Jaw clenching so hard you fear he might break it. "Not missing the way you avoid me ever since..." you close your mouth shut. "The pub..." he shifts his weight from one foot to another. The waves are increasing and now reach your feet, dampening your boots. And then you remember him storming off the local pub before he even finished his own drink. Everyone had heard the hard slap to John's arm when he had tried to calm him down. God why didn't you pay more attention to that moment? Because you both had agreed to keep your distances? And going after him was out of discussion? Then the next day you'd barely seen him, just for a short moment during debriefs and that was it. The moment you had gotten up from your seat he was gone. And today you were supposed to go to a special op that had soon become a problem that eventually led to the two of you in the middle of a beach, it was a cloudy day and if it weren't for the heavy layers you wore you're certain you'd be shaking. Sometimes –and you were ashamed of it– you were oblivious to many things and it seemed that Ghost's anger toward you was one of them this time. "What happened?"
He inhales deeply.
"It's over. That's what happened."
Your heart sinks and you swallow hard. Your whole body loses color when he mutters those two words. Out of all the things, all the possibilities you thought he'd say to you, he decided to end everything. Shaking your head you try to touch his hand but he doesn't let you.
"Ghost where is all of this coming from I don't understand!" You choke out. "We were fine..."
"No. You were fine. If I wasn't enough you should've just said so."
"Stop... you... what the hell are you talking about???"
"Nothing that matters anymore. Keep walking and don't say another word. That's an order."
He turns and keeps walking as if nothing just happened. As if he didn't just completely broke your heart.
'You were fine'.
What was that supposed to mean? You think, walking a few meters behind him, scared to even say anything else; to even try to grab him by the arm and force him to talk. It would only make things worse right now.
By the time you reach the safe house it's started to rain the silence between the two is deafening and tense. Ghost's cold demeanor and hurtful words have left a scar. Never in a million years would you think you'd be here, with a broken, shattered heart and no explanation from his part.
Words that pierced through your soul.
That day something died inside you. And he was the reason.
-
Two weeks, three days and seven hours.
That's the time that's passed since that day at the beach. Two weeks since Simon broke you and gave you no reasons.
You're a disaster.
You barely eat or get any sleep. There's dark circles under your eyes and you're sure you've lost some weight too. Ghost has been gone on a mission alone with Johnny for a week now, which left you with a lot of spare time to think about the two of you.
More tears stream down your face when you remember that day. Had you missed something important? Was Ghost's mind somewhere dark? Somewhere it shouldn't be? God knows he was... difficult to say the least. But every single time you tried, tried to be there for him. Did those late nights at your home meant nothing? Had he not seen the way you looked at him? Had you not shown him enough of your affection? Everything you'd do for him if he simply asked?
Getting up from your bed you get ready for another day. Not bothering to lace your boots just shoving them inside your shoes you walk down the hallways until you get to the training room. Gaz is talking to John in the far corner, the Captain's arms are crossed over his chest while Kyle frowns and shakes his head. You don't to even go and salute them as you normally would do, instead you put your earphones on and hit the treadmill.
It doesn't last long though; after one minute someone stops it by pressing down the off button. Your brows knitted together as you stop, turning to look up at Gaz who smiles politely.
"Sorry for that, sweetheart. You okay?" You nod, but say nothing more. "Come here." He pats your shoulder and helps you down from the treadmill. If you could smile now you would. But no even the faintest, softest grin leaves your lips. Gaz takes a quick glimpse at your face and rubs the back of his neck. "You know, Soap and Ghost just got back. Heard Lt. was asking about you."
"Oh." You murmur. "Okay." You don't move nor dare to meet his eyes. "I'll just head back to my room."
"Uhmm. I- what I meant is he's looking for you..." Shaking your head you walk away, not having the energy to face Simon right now. And why did he need to see you? Made pretty clear that you two were done, therefore was no need to see each other unless it was work related.
-
"You really do like it here don't you." Your body goes rigid. This was supposed to be your safe place. The roof of the armory was rarely visited by anyone at this hour. Simon's voice seems softer than ever before but you don't answer. Not even turn to acknowledge him. You hear muttered words and then he crouches down to your level. "Price said you're not eating. Do we have to send you to the military counselor now?" How dare he? After all he caused this. You know he doesn't mean it in bad way, somehow he cares for you deep down. Your hands ball into fists, fighting the urge to snap at him, to push him down and just break him the way he broke you. But you don't because you still love him, and could never bring yourself to hurt him. Simon is staring intently at you, waiting, hoping for any sign. He knows he shouldn't be here. Bloody hell he knows you shouldn't even look his way never again. He deserves it. Every bit of it. "Talk to me, love. Please." It's a low whisper. A plea.
"What do you want Ghost?" You ask softly. Simon leans closer, sitting down with his legs propped up against his chest and arms resting on his knees. It's a funny look for someone his size.
"Jus' wanted to see you." You scoff playing with your hands, refusing to lock eyes with him because if you did you'd be done. "Wanted to explain..."
"Then just do it!" You sob. Your lower lip trembles. "And then leave."
"Fine." He agrees. "But I'm not leaving. I- I made a mistake, and took it out on you okay? I was scared."
"Scared?" Your head snaps to where he is sitting. It's painful just to look at him. "Why would you be scared Ghost?" You retaliate
He grumbles, never fancied when you called him that when you were alone. Quite the contradiction given the fact that he told you not to call him his name that day at the beach.
"Because I saw you." He points out. "That night. Everything you're missing for being with someone like me. Can't even show proper affection because it's not me... and you deserve more than that. More than me."
"Ghost..."
"No. Lemme finish, love." He swallows. It's always amusing how controlled he seems. "I lost it, yeah? You looked so happy. How on earth do I deserve you, on what universe do I deserve ya'?"
Sucking in a sharp breath you recall the moments that preceded the events. The sound of music blasting through the speakers, when you joined the rest of the soldiers on the other side of the pub. Private Miller had slung his arm over your shoulders in a friendly manner. You laughed and drank too much that night, it was joyful. Everyone was there, your team. You never thought he felt that way about it.
"Oh my... Simon." You cover your mouth and cry silently. He hesitated for a moment before pulling you close and into his lap. "Should've known something was wrong. Forgive me... I should've stayed with you, follow you after you left." You cry out.
You were scared too, for very different reasons. That he'd get tired of you eventually, that if you weren't cautious enough your secret would be known. Both would get suspended thus separated and discharged.
"No, love. You shouldn't have to go running after me. I should be running after you. Now forgive me, say you will. Or else I might just lose myself for good." You cradle his face in your hands lifting the balaclava just above the bridge of his nose. Thumb tracing his lower lip. Your tears have dried.
"I've missed you so much, Simon. All you gotta do is talk to me, always." He tightens his grip around you. "You think Price would let us go home tonight and not ask questions?"
His chuckle is short and soft.
"Yeah. I think he's known for a while now."

Creator Spotlight: @min-play
I’m Min! I’m an animator and storyboard  rti t who also posts comics and fan art online. So far, I have worked on the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and LEGO Monkie Kid. I run on AAA batteries.
Check out our interview with Min below!
How did you get your start in animation and storyboarding?
Fanart! My hyperfixations kept me drawing and posting online since I was around 16. Later I dropped my Computer Science degree to study animation. After graduating, I worked as an In-between Animator, Key Animator, and Storyboard Artist. My fanart of a couple funny skeletons played a big role in getting hired.
What do you wish you knew when you first started out creating content that you know now?
It’s ok to make mistakes. All the flaws in a drawing make it look much more interesting. Also, it’s a lot more fun than spending ages perfecting one line.
Tumblr media
Have you ever had an art block? If so, how did you overcome it?
I always get 3 different flavors of art block (that I remember):
Art block from perfectionism
Sometimes there’s this self-enforced pressure that what you make has to be of a certain standard. Gotta loosen up and forgive yourself for not meeting an imaginary quality. Do it for the fun of it. Instead of thinking’ needs to be better,’ think ‘eh good enough lol.’ It’s cool to strive for improvement! Just don’t do it to the point it becomes self-deprecating.
Art block from burnout
Art hibernation! It’s ok to take breaks. Not every waking moment needs to be productive. Treat yourself to something yummy, hang out with people you’re comfortable with, or pick up a new anime series. Take the time to get some well-deserved rest.
Art block while drawing as a full-time job
WELL DANG.
Switch your ‘drive.’ If you’re running off on passion or interest as a motivator for work, that’s great! I do too! But also, it’s finicky. Set up routines for when that high runs out. I have a ‘Do task’ mode where I play a song or a movie I already watched on loop in the background (sometimes for weeks on end). I don’t know why but it helps me concentrate. Last week, it was the movie Cars.
These are personal methods and may not work for everyone, but I hope it helps!
What are 3 things you can’t live without as a creator?
Music + Noise-canceling headphones + Big blanket = Comfort force field
Tumblr media
What is a medium that you have always been intrigued by but would never use yourself?
Does blacksmithing count as a medium? I’d like to try it out at least once, though.
How do you want to evolve as a creator?
To connect with other creators more. Especially writers. They are so powerful.
Warm tones or cool tones?
Cool tones! Especially this one particular blend of blue and green.
Who on Tumblr inspires you and why?
So maaaanyy. At the top of my head, though: @northpen. I am obsessed with their vivid-imagery writing style, and immaculate characterizations. Their character banters always have me in a gigglefit. They have this fic I binged in one sitting and left me crying and empty in a good way.
Thank you for such amazing answers, Min! You can check out more of Min’s creations over at @min-play!

Cursedvibes, what are your favorite Kenjin fanfics/art/comics or just what is your favorite JJK fanfics/art in general
I don't actually read that much jjk fanfiction and most of what I read isn't JinKen, but I still have a few faves I'd like to recommend.
theft of witness by iamsomebody One of the first jjk & Kenjaku fics I ever read and I absolutely loved it. It follows Kenjaku through their transition from Kaori to Geto and gives brief glimpses into their experiences. Partially inspired me to write my own stuff. I absolutely love the writing style and the confrontation scene between Kaorijaku and Wasuke is my favourite. Might be responsible for why I like their dynamic so much. Also, you should check out the art that's linked in the fic notes, it's one of my favourite.
死的静观 by Innersol Jin/Kamojaku, background Jin/Toji (don't ship it, but it also didn't bother me much), sort of a Gothic Modern AU It's in Chinese, but I think with a translator you can still follow very well what's happening and not too much of the prose is lost. Jin is a medical student in his 20s aiming for doctor and Kenjaku (Kamo Noritoshi) is financing his studies, eventually inviting him to live at their house to collaborate at times with their research. It's not specified what exactly Noritoshi does, but you find out that some Death Painting-esque experiment is going on in the background. Since this is a ship fic, Jin and Kenjaku eventually go from studying to fucking. It's not too heavy on the feelings, but Jin does get attached and curious about Kenjaku and over time the same happens to Kenjaku, with them developing a strong wish to have a child with Jin, eventhough that's physically impossible for them in this AU. There's also some brainfuckery going on at some point, Jin just can't keep his fingers to himself. Really love this one for the creepy vibe and because I'm just happy to see more of Kamojaku.
Innersol is also a great artist with some exceptional jjk fanart. You can find them here @karama08 and on Twitter
Complicity by SenZen_Travers My favourite MahiKen fic. Characterization is on point, the atmosphere is calm but also so intense at the same time. I always get a bit dizzy when reading it. The smut is really juicy too and feels natural (I'm always a bit bothered when Kenjaku is shown as overly dominant, and Mahito as this dainty submissive bottom. That's not the case here, they're just having a fun time together)
King's Ascent by Anonymous (registered users only) A SukUme fic with ace Uraume. It takes place during the Nara period and details Sukuna and Uraume's first meeting and how they grew to be partners. The world building here is really good with lots of details to flesh out the setting as well as the characters. Really well written too and the best SukUme fic I've read so far. It has 5 chapters so far, I'm really hoping the author will continue it at some point.
light of a new morning by flyfreebird (@urostakako on tumblr) A Tsumiki Lives AU, mainly revolving around Tsumiki and Yuuji bonding over their past trauma and relationship with Megumi. It's so well written, I want to insert it directly into my brain. Tsumiki's struggle of loving her brother, but also being angry at him for how ignorant he has been of her and her emotions all her life is so well depicted here, makes me wish it were canon. This is the Tsumiki I wanted to see. It feels so satisfying to read this after the disappointment I felt over how her character was handled in canon.
Kissing Strangers by magrealism_conspirology Jin/Kenjaku, fanart not fanfic but since it was posted on AO3 I thought it would make for a good transition to other artists Always love it when Jin interacts with Kenjaku's brain and the pose here makes it look especially good. Very tender, as if he's just giving them a kiss on the cheek (but juicier).
For fanart recommendation, I'm gonna shout out
@trung-roi Currently creating a lot of TenKen art that makes me go absolutely insane. Can also recommend him for Mahito and Sukuna/Uraume fans. His art always manages to make even gore look beautiful and enthralling. I particularly like this Pixiv album. It has a lot of my faves. Kenjaku and Tengen playing Mario, Kenjaku swallowing Tengen, them holding hands, Edo era meeting, Tengen holding Kenjaku's brain (I particularly like this surreal style here) and a Barbie meme.
Twitter Pixiv
Warlock1000 or 1000YEAH Already love this artist for drawing all incarnations of Kenny. I rarely see this much EdoKen and Kamojaku in one place. They also really nail Kenjaku's personality, from the grotesque to silly. Just can't emphasize enough how amazing their art is. You should really check them out. Also have a lot on Sukuna and Uraume.
Lofter weibo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(My two strongest arguments for why you should go check them out right now. I also wanted to give you a glimpse of their art here because I know weibo links in particular can sometimes be difficult to open from overseas or on the phone and I want to encourage you try to seek them out regardless)
reynis var emrace I recently recommended her Kaorijaku (& Geto) art, so here is my call again to give her some more attention. She does a lot of stsg stuff too. What drew me to her was intense gory art. And I mean real gore, guts hanging out and everything. Every time I look at her art, I feel like I can actually smell the blood. Especially for a character like Kenjaku that is very fitting. Not gonna lie, the art where Kenjaku is licking Gojo's ripped out eyeball inspired me quite a lot. I like this one a lot as well.
Most of her older stuff you can find on vk
planetsandmagic I think if you're looking around the fandom here, you will have inevitably come across them, but I still wanted to highlight them. They draw pretty much anything jjk and every piece looks fantastic. Their art often has this melancholic, dark and eery vibe I really like. Recently I fell absolutely in love with their TenKen art (predictable as I am).
Twitter
There are like a dozen more I can think of , plus individual art pieces, but I'm trying to contain it to a manageable list

Too shy to ask off anon🤭
I love your writing and style and even more so the way you write sevika specifically - I think you have an amazing grasp on her and her character.
I was wondering - if you‘d wanna - if maybe we could get your thoughts on a Housewife!femReaderxSevika …. Sfw, nswf, both, bullet points, dialogue - whatever you feel inspired to give
Just… the thought of doing things for her….and her 👀appreciating…rewarding…being happy….. idk you get why it‘s enticing✨
Aww don't be shy nonny! (Although I'm shy too, so I get it). I hope I'm not scaring you though. I'm so glad you like my writing and the way I characterize Sevika! I enjoy writing her so much, but it means so much more when I hear readers are happy with my writing as well! 🥰
I have to admit, this was a bit challenging for me. I am not the least bit housewife material. I'm the breadwinner in my family, so technically I'm the one who needs a housewife. 😆 But I'll tell you this; for Sevika, I'd wear a damn apron, or even a skimpy maid outfit and heels. I'd cook her fresh meals everyday and clean the house till it shined. I'd even massage her sweaty feet when she comes home from a grueling day of work for Silco. But for anyone else? GTFO!
Anyway, here's some headcannons/imagines below the readmore (came out WAY longer than I intended). Hope you enjoy, and thank you for the ask! ❤️
This contains some NSFW smutty stuff (although not explicit), so MDNI
Sevika is a busy woman, so the last thing she wants to spend her miniscule bit of free time on is housework. So she would be more than happy to have a sweet, cute, doting housewife to come home to every day.
She could have the worst day, but the moment she comes steps through that door and sees you all dolled up and the house sparkly clean (so very unlike anywhere else in Zaun), most- if not all- of that tension just melts away.
Your smile alone could wipe her glum expression clear off her face.
Sevika drags her feet warily through the door to your shared home, shoulders slumped, head hung low, and brows pinched tightly together. It’s been another one of those days. But, before she can even close the door, she glances up to find you running at her full speed, arms spread wide and grinning like a damn idiot. And it’s all for her simply appearing.
“Sevika!” you squeal as you leap into her barely prepared arms. Wrapping your arms around her neck and your legs around her waist, you giggle as she stumbles backwards from the sheer force at which you threw yourself at her. That grimace she came in with instantly melts into a soft lopsided grin that only makes you beam more. “I missed you!”
She wraps her arms around your back tighter as she carries you far enough into the house to kick the door shut behind her. “Missed you too baby.” She no more than gets those four words out before you’re peppering her face with kisses. Her throaty chuckle rumbles through where her chest presses to yours. When she’s had her fill of affection, for the moment at least, she slides her hands down to your thighs and gives them a playful squeeze.
“How was your day?” you ask when you pull back to admire her face.
“Doesn’t matter,” she replies as she carries you towards the bedroom.
Brows furrowed, you ask, “Why not?” She usually likes to tell you about her day.
“Because I’m with you now,” she replies and gives you one of her bone-melting little smirks. “It can only get better.”
Sevika loves food, but she has no time or desire to cook it. Not after working grueling hours and dealing with so many insolent people. Before meeting you, she lived off the most bland, unhealthy, overly processed food. Sump waste in a can you so affectionately called it. Not that she disagreed. She just had priorities. And cooking or shopping for ingredients was not one of them. So to have a housewife to do all that for her- that’s a damn dream come true.
Too focused on the array of foods you're cooking on the stove, you don’t hear Sevika coming in through the front door.
The savory aroma hits Sevika the moment she steps past the threshold. She immediately gravitates towards the kitchen, not even bothering to remove her boots. She’s starving and there's nothing more filling and satisfying than one of your home-cooked meals. Sneaking up behind you, she wraps her arms around your waist and leans over your shoulder to inspect what you're making. "Smells delicious," she whispers into your hair before leaving a trail of kisses down your neck and shoulder. “And so does the food.”
You giggle sweetly at her little joke, and revel in her affection and praise. It’s more than enough of a reward for the hard work you put into making her a healthy, hearty, tasty meal to enjoy.
But Sevika rewards you in many other ways as well. Coming home with little gifts. Your favorite flowers, jewelry, chocolates, wine, cute dresses and skirts, and/or lingerie (which may sound more like a gift for herself, but what it leads to is certainly a gift for you. Both of you.) And of course she’ll also use more physical displays of affection to say thanks. She’ll fuck her good little housewife on the kitchen table, the counter, the couch, you name it. She’s gonna make sure you feel real good. If you’ve been extra doting and helpful, she might even let you pick the location and position.
On special occasions, you’ll treat her by wearing a little something… less conventional while you’re cooking. And then she’ll treat you in return.
Donning nothing more than an apron over one of Sevika's recent gifts- a matching pair of skimpy red panties and bra- you rush to set the table before she gets home. Tonight the two of you are celebrating your anniversary, so you’ve prepared her one of her favorite meals. Just as you’re finishing pouring a glass of her favorite spiced rum, you hear the rattle of her keys in the lock of the entry door. You quickly straighten the front of your little white apron and stand beside her chair to patiently wait for her.
She strides in, human hand behind her back, donning a haughty smirk. She eyes the elaborate dinner laid out on your quaint kitchen table, humming in approval. However, the moment her eyes land on your scantily clad figure, that crooked grin of hers gets noticeably more… devious.
“Hi,” you say coyly, unable to contain the excited grin that spreads wide enough to reveal teeth. Rocking back and forth on your heels, you watch as she stalks closer. You remain in your spot while she circles you, and you can feel how her eyes roam over your body, taking in every bit of skin that’s exposed. And there's certainly plenty.
“Hi,” she husks from behind you.
And Janna, her voice is in that sultry, raspy tone that she gets whenever she’s in the mood to take you to bed. Somehow even sexier than her typical voice. You can just imagine what she’s thinking right now. What she's going to want to do to you later. You’re unexpectedly ripped from your thoughts when you feel the startling, cold drag of one of her metal fingers ghosting along your bare thigh, just beneath your ass cheek.
Sevika chuckles at the little squeak and jump that gets out of you. She lets that teasing finger slowly follow the same path beneath your other cheek as she brings her mouth to your ear. “You look… delicious,” she purrs.
Knees threatening to buckle at the sensation of her breath against your ear and those undeniably sexy words, you quickly grasp the back of her chair.
After giving your ass a gentle pat, she moves back to your front side again. “Got you a little something too.” She brings her other hand out from behind her back to reveal a bouquet of red roses.
Your face lights up brighter than a Christmas tree. Taking the bouquet, you bring it to your face, pressing your nose against the soft petals of one of the roses. Closing your eyes, you inhale deeply, humming as the sweet scent fills you with delight. “Thank you,” you say softly, “They smell so sweet.”
“Not as sweet as you,” Sevika husks as she steps closer. Her gray eyes darken, locking on yours as she gently takes the flowers from your hand and places them on the table.
Your cheeks flush. Both at the compliment and the obvious intentions of her advance. And when she slips her warm hand across your cheek to tilt your head back and pull you in for a kiss, you momentarily forget all about the fancy dinner waiting on the table. Her lips press against yours and you release your grip on the chair to grab the collar of her top in your fists as you return the kiss.
She slips that cool metal hand of hers across your bare waist, leaving behind goosebumps in its wake. Traveling lower, over the curve of your ass, she pulls your body closer. Her other hand skims down your neck, over your shoulder and down your back until it’s gripping your other ass cheek. Gently kneading each one, she runs the tip of her tongue across the line where your lips meet.
More than happy to oblige that silent request, you part your lips to allow her entry. The moment her tongue delves inside, your resulting moan turns into a startled gasp as she bends down to hoist you up by your thighs. You immediately wrap your legs around her waist, arms around her neck. Wide-eyed, you gaze into her stormy gray eyes. They’re dark, hungry and promising.
Sevika carries you to the small kitchen island, plopping you down on the top at the very edge. Her crooked grin grows when you suck in a breath at the cold press of the counter against your mostly bare, but very heated skin. Standing between your spread thighs, she flips the bottom of your apron out of the way.
You move your hands back on the counter to stabilize yourself, bumping into the bottle of whiskey you had gotten out for Sevika to go with dinner.
Dinner!
“S-Sevika,” you stammer, struggling to clear your mind of the dizzying arousal. “W- What about dinner? Aren’t you hungry?
Still smirking, Sevika grabs a nearby stool and takes a seat between the spread of your legs. Running cool and warm hands up the length of the top of your thighs, her eyes drop to your panties. Your very clearly soaked panties. “Famished,” she husks.
“But- but the food- the food will get cold,” you protest weakly as her thumbs slide to the insides of your thighs, dangerously close to the apex.
Her metal thumb pulls aside your underwear and your body shudders as you watch her tongue slip out to drag along her top lip hungrily.
“I want my dessert first tonight.”
Similarly, if she finds you tidying up the house while donning a skimpy little maid outfit (another gift from her of course), she’s going to be awfully eager to reward your hard work. Bonus points if you’re up high on a stepladder, stretching to dust an oh-so-hard-to-reach spot and revealing the tiny, sad excuse for panties beneath your skirt. She’ll stalk over to you quietly. Hungrily. You won’t even know she’s there until you feel the familiar contrast of warm flesh and cold metal fingers smoothing up the back of your exposed legs and beneath your tiny skirt. Worried about ladder safety when she’s feeling you up? Don’t be. She’s got you. Not to mention, you won’t be up there long before she’s carrying you off somewhere to fuck you silly.
Now if you ever want to see Sevika turn to putty at your doing, give that woman a massage after a long day and she’ll simply melt.
Having a drink and/or smoke ready for her too is just the icing on the cake.
Just as you’re finishing tidying up the kitchen, you hear the familiar clop of Sevika’s heavy footfalls heading towards the living room. Though it’s actually considerably earlier than usual, you know she’s had a particularly hard couple of days. Grabbing a fresh cigar from the humidor on the counter, you clip the end and hurriedly make your way into the next room.
Sevika sits on the couch, her back to you, but you can still see just how tense her shoulders are. Coming up to her from the back of the couch, you slip your arms around her neck and bring your face beside hers.
“Hey,” she says gruffly, and you can hear how exhausted she is, but she still brings her human hand up to touch yours affectionately.
Pressing a kiss to her scarred cheek, you bring the cigar to her mouth.
“Thanks, baby,” she says and she takes it between her teeth.
“Another bad day?” you ask as you bend over her to fetch her lighter from the pouch at her side. Flicking it open with a snap of your wrist, you bring it up to her cigar.
She hums in response, eyes staring blankly at the dancing flame. After taking several quick drags, she leans back against the couch and sighs, smoke billowing from her flaring nostrils.
Flicking the lighter closed again, you slip it back into her pouch. You kiss the top of her head, arms still wrapped loosely around her neck as her tired, gray eyes gaze up at you.
“How would you like a massage?” you offer.
Removing the cigar from her mouth momentarily, she replies with an appreciative grin, “I could really use that right now.”
Straightening back up, you grip her shoulders and you can already feel the knots lining her muscles. But the moment you start to work your fingers into them, Sevika is groaning in appreciation.
She lets her eyes flutter shut and her head fall forward as you continue to work her muscles, paying particular attention near the junction of her flesh and prosthetic. Her cigar hangs forgotten between metal fingers, smoke slowly curling into the air and filling your nose with the sweet and spicy scent that always reminds you of her.
You can feel each knot start to melt beneath your fingertips. And see the days worth of stress leave her body as she sighs deeply and her shoulders finally relax.
“That feels good, baby,” she whispers.
Janna, the way her praise makes you smile.
But she enjoys the touch of your soft, delicate hands on more than just her shoulders, neck, and back. A good head massage- whether it be in the bath, shower, or just while she’s lying or sitting around- that will definitely get her motor running.
Sevika sits on the couch, belly full after just finishing the home-cooked meal you’d made for her.
You come up behind her, unannounced, and carefully slip the tie from her hair, watching as the soft, dark strands fall forward around her face like the finest silk. The moment you run your nails across her scalp, she’s all but purring like a house cat. And you can’t help but smile proudly when you watch her toes curl from where they rest on the footstool.
“Oh fuck,” she groans. It’s a full body response when you drag your nails clear from the front all the way down to the back of her neck. From her deep moan to her whole body shuddering and her skin prickling with goosebumps.
When you think you’ve damn near put her to sleep with your ministrations, you bend down to kiss her shoulder. “You awake?” you whisper.
Her gray eyes open just enough to peer up at you. “C’mere,” she husks.
“What? Why?” you ask, unsure of her intentions. But when she lies back on the couch, propping her head up on several pillows, you’re pretty sure you can guess what she has in mind.
“I want to show you just how much I appreciate you, sweetheart,” she replies while you move to the front of the couch beside her. She slips a hand behind your knee and tugs you onto the couch near her head. Her lips curl up at the corner as she watches the apprehension melt from your face only to be replaced by anticipation. Excitement. Both hands behind each of your thighs, she guides you onto your knees on either side of her head. The tiny little skirt you’re wearing gives her a full view of what lies between your legs. Or rather, what doesn’t. And judging by how her lips curl higher and those gray eyes twinkle in amusement, she’s discovered that you were hoping for something tonight.
“Expecting this?” she husks as she slides her hands up the backs of your thighs and your bare ass to lift your skirt up to your waist and tuck it beneath the band, out of the way.
“Not this specifically,” you admit, cheeks flushing in a mixture of embarrassment and arousal.
“You should. You deserve this,” she purrs. And then her tone and expression take a complete turn. Eyes dark with lust, she digs her nails into your ass and tugs. “Now sit.”
She’ll show her appreciation all night if you let her. She’ll have you cumming over and over until you’re so fucked out you can’t see straight, let alone walk. Good luck keeping up with the chores for the next few days.
But the ultimate massage? The one that really drives home just how much Sevika’s perfect housewife loves her? Her feet.
“My feet are fucking killing me,” Sevika groans as she drags her feet through the front door.
“Want me to draw up a nice hot bath for you and massage your feet?” you offer as you take her cloak and hang it up. You drop to your knees and start to untie the laces of her boots.
She stares at you for a moment as if you just offered to bring her the moon. “Baby, that’s- Fuck- Yes.”
You beam up at her, thrilled to have left her struggling for words.
The moment Sevika sinks into that warm water, much of her tension rises and fades along with the steam that fills the bathroom. She sighs heavily, eyes drifting shut and scowl slowly fading.
And when you kneel at the opposite end of the tub, where her feet rest just over the edge, you know you’re going to make her feel like the queen she truly is. Proud smile on your face, you take one foot into your hands and start with gentle squeezes.
"You're too good to me, sweetheart," Sevika says with a quiet sigh. She slowly opens her gray eyes, just enough to peer adoringly at her pretty little housewife.
When you start to really work your thumbs into the soles of her feet, she’ll get so worked up you’ll find her clenching her teeth, just trying so damn hard to withhold the appreciative moans that threaten to burst from her chest.
"Fuck! That feels so good, baby," Sevika groans.
After giving both feet equal attention, she lies so limp and boneless in the tub that one could almost mistake that blissed out expression of hers as post orgasmic.
“C’mere baby,” she breathlessly beckons you with a curl of her metal finger.
Obediently, you move to sit on the floor just beside the arm she has draped over the edge.
She slips her metal claws into your hair at the back of your head and pulls you down until your lips meet hers in a passionate kiss.
She truly, and dearly, adores you.
Though she’s normally short on words and not one for chitchat, with you it’s different. Letting her talk to you about her day, asking her questions, showing your genuine interest in her, that really melts that icy exterior of hers.
Though she may not admit it, coming home to lay on the couch with you is something she longs for the most. Those soft, tender moments- be it in companionable silence or a quiet conversation- it’s something she never knew she needed until she’d married you and brought you into her home. Her life. She loves laying her head in your lap while you comb through her hair and listen to her tell you all about her crappy day, or brag about how she beat the shit out of someone, or won at gambling. She trusts you enough to tell you anything. And she loves that you’ll just simply listen and smile down at her with more love than she ever thought she deserved.
“Did you have a nice day for once?” you ask as Sevika flops down on the couch and sneaks her head onto your lap beneath the book you’re holding.  Sevika’s gray eyes meet yours when you set your book aside. They’re full of mirth, and match the crooked grin she wears. Clearly she had a good day. Finally.
“Yeah. Took out this dumbass chembarron that’s been trying to overthrow Silco for some time,” she replies as you remove her hair tie. Her smirk grows wider as she continues, “And not only that, I let Silco think I was switching sides myself. Pretty sure he shit his pants when I swung my sword across his desk.” She gazes off in the distance as if reminiscing what had taken place. Turning her attention back to you she adds proudly, “You should have seen it, baby.”
You smile down at her fondly while you comb your fingers through her silky hair. “I bet you were amazing!”
When she comes home super late, she loves that you have everything ready for her in bed. A clean pair of PJs lying at the foot of the bed. The covers pulled back and ready on her side of the bed.
It’s late. Very late. Not that it’s entirely uncommon for her to come home in the wee hours of the night, but tonight you couldn’t quite stay awake long enough to greet her.
Lying in bed, you’re barely roused awake, teetering on consciousness when you hear the front door open then softly shut. Heavy footfalls proceed into the kitchen. The creak of the refrigerator door followed by the click of the stove burner tells you she’s found the meal you’d prepared for her. You smile drowsily to yourself with the knowledge that you were able to provide her with a nice meal to come home to.
Apparently having dozed off again, you stir when you feel the bed shift as Sevika sits to slip on the boxer shorts you left at the foot of the bed for her to sleep in. Somewhere in the back of your sleep-dazed mind you realize she is trying not to disturb you, but she’s just too large and heavy. If you were fully awake, you’d giggle at that fact.
The bed shifts again, this time nearly causing you to roll over as Sevika crawls into bed and scoots closer to you. You remain still, eyes closed, while she presses her naked chest against your bare back. She drapes her metal arm carefully over your waist and pulls you even closer until her large body perfectly melds to yours.
Nose buried in the hair at the back of your head, she takes a deep breath and sighs softly. With your back to her, and the room pitch black, she doesn’t see how all this leaves you absolutely beaming. And not knowing that you’re actually very much awake now, she whispers softly against your hair.
“Thank you, baby.”

loved loved loved the mimzy fic! i was curious: are there any other characters/relationships in hazbin you're really interested in writing about but haven't quite found the right inspiration? and one follow up question: where do you usually get inspiration for your fics (art, other works, comments, random lightning bolt in the middle of the night, etc.)
Well, aside from the scheduled weekly breakdown I have about desperately wanting to write soggy Lucifer and Lilith hurt/comfort but not having any canon point of reference for Lilith's personality...
I've been really craving radioapple, but I've outlined like three different takes on my radioapple idea and still have liked none of them. I'm letting it percolate (read: trying to ignore it but coming back to fuss with it constantly, haha). I also just want to write more Lucifer fics in general where he interacts with the hotel crew more, but I've run into that good old trouble of wanting to do character work but not having any solid (even simple) plot ideas I like to set up as the scaffolding for said character work.
Normally my inspiration comes from things like music and just pondering what I'd personally like to see written, but the Hazbin Hotel hyperfixation has been strong enough the past couple of months that I've been going about it lightning bolt style, except if I lived in the middle of a thunderstorm. Comments, asks, art, other writing, and also just daydreaming on the way to sleep and going, "WAIT!" have all spawned something at some point, hahaha. A lot of the time, seeing good character meta posts that I want to translate into fic, also.
And thank you! I'm really happy you liked the Mimzy fic—that one in particular was inspired at first by a Reddit comment I saw about how well her presence served to further expand Alastor's characterization (on a post where people where complaining about her song interruption), which got me thinking about HER characterization in tandem.

I'm so glad someone else brought up how insular IDW felt, I thought I was insane for thinking along the lines of a similar thing. To me IDW1 felt like a continuity made by the fandom for the fandom, and despite some of its great writing decisions it often felt flat and hollow in a lot of important aspects. The lack of communication between writers and failure to maintain basic narrative and thematic cohesion as well as characterization reminded me a lot of in-fandom arguments over interpretations and headcanons
It took on too much and stretched itself thin resulting in sidelined characters, bastardized character dynamics/relationships or forgotten plots. People praised IDW1's lore and worldbuilding but personally I don't think there was much of it at all and very little of it was to a good enough standard when you consider how long IDW held the licence. It told us a lot and yet nothing at all, which would have been a genius move had it at all been intentional– something I often found myself saying in relation to IDW1 and content inspired by it, which was around post 2010-ish give or take probably
Like I said, I firmly believe that IDW was essentially made by fandom, for fandom, but a very, very narrow cross-section of such. James Roberts, who was arguably the architect for most of it, was a fanfic writer and someone who wanted to make elements of his fanfics canon. Many of the writers were buddy-buddy with TFWiki moderators and the dingus behind Shortpacked, oftentimes parroting their opinions, which was that if you didn't like what they were making, you were a chud or a creep that wanted the entire brand to be Kiss Players. Especially as romance became more and more of a focus on the series, the idea was not "This is boring, I want to see robots punching each other and blowing things up", but "I don't want to see this because it's gay", which is a far easier position to defend. Even when they lost the license, Kit Harrison of IDW insinuated that the complaints were all homophobic in nature.
Tumblr media
As an aside, while I think Kiss Players was terrible, it was literally nothing but a side-story manga and some collector's toys. That would be like me saying all the Western-created Transformers media is garbage because of The Car Wash of Doom, Afterdeath, that scene in Age of Extinction where the guy spells out the Romeo and Juliet Law in detail, the complete waste of Sir Anthony Hopkins that was The Last Knight, The Rebirth, numerous parts of Cyberverse, the WFC Trilogy, etc.
Anyway, because the audience was so narrow, it made sense that the audience that it did cultivate was so passionate about the material, but Greek to any audience outside of it, resulting in low sales and general dismissal from a casual audience. Any similarities to how fanfic is written, especially fanfic that has an active follower community and people addressing the work in progress, were purposeful, because that was the world that the writers came from, and the world that they were used to.
And then there were the attempts to integrate those ideas into shows, as shown by WFC not getting a sequel because Netflix said no, as well as Cyberverse and now Earthspark toys rotting on shelves in your local Ollies or Lot Less.
My conclusion remains the same. IDW was overly insular, fanfic-style writing, for people who liked that, and they could not care one iota about anyone outside of that little circle. Especially if you were a fan of super robots, humans that weren't complete jerks, or the mystic elements of the Transformers mythos. And this is why now even Duke's miniseries pretty much outsells anything that IDW published. (To be fair, Duke's miniseries is pretty good).

MY VERY SPOILERY THOUGHTS ON THE LITTLE MERMAID
I’m going absolutely feral after seeing The Little Mermaid. My inner child has been FED, and I HAVE NO ONE TO TALK TO ABOUT IT YET so here I am to spew my thoughts. Spoilers below:
1. Halle was perfect. I will accept no criticism on this point. The only thing I cared about when this live-action movie was announced was that our new Ariel would have a voice to match Jodi Benson’s, and Halle did more than deliver. She epitomized the spirit of Ariel in every way. She was playful, she was inquisitive, she was joyful and bright and fun, she was so good at tugging the heartstrings (even without dialogue!!!) and appealing to our innate wanderlust and desire to discover and experience,  and she was so so EARNEST in her portrayal I can’t even.
2. THE DEPTH THEY ADDED TO PRINCE ERIC’S CHARACTER OKAY!?!?! LIKE?!?!?! Okay, I will NOT GET OVER THIS. It was SO CLEVER of them to mirror Ariel’s journey with his desire to break free of his position’s restrictions. It worked incredibly well and did not once detract from our heroine’s spotlight. Rather, it ENHANCED their connection and sold me on their three-day love story in a deeper and more meaningful way than the original did (more on that below). ALSO ALSO ALSO SO COOL of them not to kill off his ADOPTIVE mother. ADOPTIVE. Marvelous choice! Truly. His mother’s fear of the sea gods offered a parallel to Triton’s fear of the surface world, and *CHEFS KISS*
3. Melissa McCarthy’s Pour Unfortunate Souls was a FUN TIME.
4. Awkwafina as Scuttle? Inspired.
5. MAX WAS ADORABLE AND THE STAR OF THE SHOW EVERY TIME HE WAS ON SCREEN. BEST BOY.
6. Wherever they filmed? The castle? Fucking gorgeous.
7. JODI BENSON CAMEOOOOOOO
8. Grimsby is the GOAT. Enough said.
9. NEW SONGS
I may get some hate for this, but I’m not the biggest fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda.  Idk how to put this. He has an insane amount of talent, but for...untraditional musicals. I wouldn’t say he’d be my first choice to write new songs that fit the more traditional Broadway-like musical vibes that characterized so much of the Disney Renaissance.
That being said, The Scuttlebutt was the strongest of the bunch, I think. It was very much a Miranda song, and in most instances, I’d be a little irritated by how they included a song that has a style so different from the rest of the lyrical music we know and love from the original animated movie. But it worked here, likely because it was delivered by Awkwafina’s Scuttle and FIT the character.
Honorable mention to Wild Uncharted Waters, only because WOW Jonah Hauer-King went OFF on that performance. This boy said “I get one musical number and I’m going to KILL IT” and he did.
Also very much liked the Part of Your World (Reprise II)! It tied everything together really nicely.
10. THE OTHER NOTABLE CHANGES I NEED TO SCREAM ABOUT
I LOVE THAT ARIEL HESITATED BEFORE CHOOSING TO GO THROUGH WITH THE SPELL.
I LOVE THAT ARIEL WAS FORCED TO FORGET SHE NEEDED A KISS FROM ERIC. --> THIS. THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING. I can’t even express how much more I felt for Ariel and Eric’s love story. How much more real it felt. How much more believable and true. I don’t buy in to one-day (or few-day) love stories very easily, especially when physical intimacy/attraction is a driving force. My little aroace ass dug the fact that kissing Eric literally was the last thing on Ariel’s mind. She got to be herself, explore this new world, AND do it with someone who appreciated her curiosity and found joy in how much joy she was experiencing, who could have just as much fun as she could. God. Goals.
I LOVE THAT ERIC KNEW SOMETHING WASN’T RIGHT WITH VANESSA, EVEN IF HE COULDN’T PUT HIS FINGER ON IT. Very reminiscent of Prince of Song and Sea by Linsey Miller (a YA AU retelling told from Prince Eric’s POV. It’s a fun, easy read, if you’re curious).
I LOVE THAT ARIEL ACTIVELY TACKLED VANESSA AND BROKE THE SHELL NECKLACE HERSELF.
I LOVE THAT ARIEL WAS THE ONE TO STAB URSULA. I LOVE THAT SO MUCH. WE LOVE A BADASS HEROINE WHO DON’T NEED NO MAN TO SAVE HER.
All of these changes were important and mean a lot to me. I think it challenges a lot of the issues people have with the original animated movie, in that, here in the 2023 version, no one can argue that Ariel made her choices because she was lusting after a man. Or that she’s a damsel in distress. Very good stuff there.
11. My critiques
Some of the cinematography was weird. The transition between acting scenes and singing scenes didn’t always flow right. They felt abrupt and awkward. I definitely worried a bit about the CGI too, and it wasn’t too terrible imo.
And my biggest complaint: idk what it was about the ending, but it didn’t *quite* hit right. In the original animated movie, one of the last bits of dialogue comes from Triton, when he says, “...how much I’m going to miss her.” The finale of the animated movie is then a spectacle of swelling music and a heartfelt case of “show” rather than “tell.” The hug between Ariel and Triton on the wedding barge is perfect. The way in which the mer-people come to witness the wedding and send off Eric and Ariel is perfect.
The live-action ending felt...a little too somber. It became too much about Triton letting go and not enough about Ariel and Eric setting off on adventure together or about their worlds colliding in peace. I wouldn’t say that the last conversation between Triton and Ariel in the 2023 movie cheapens the line “...how much I’m going to miss her” and the bittersweetness with which he gifts her back her human legs, but it came close. I would have MUCH rather had a little more from Eric and Ariel than from Triton. LIKE HELLO??? WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT RING GRIMSBY KICKED AWAY!??? THERE WAS SOMETHING THEY COULD HAVE USED RIGHT THERE. Or better yet: if they wanted to do something super touching, they could have had Eric’s mother and Triton do a short aside by themselves, or perhaps even have a sort of moment where they acknowledge each other with respect/compassion/understanding before we all refocused on Ariel and Eric for the grand finale. But nah, they did what they did, and I’ll be a bit salty about it forever.
But anyway. Overall, I was very pleased. My disappointment with the lack of emotional impact from the ending does not supersede my enjoyment of everything else.
If you made it this far, please share your thoughts! I’m eager to talk to people, because all my friends aren’t like me and didn’t go see it opening night, lol.

book recs request ❤🖤❤🖤 🙏🙏🙏 in this case, book recs that you feel have inspired your writing style, or inspired your fics somehow?
Hmmm...this is a fun one but a tough one, because I'm not sure I'm really self-aware enough to know the true answer here. But I'll try! A lot of books/authors I believe shaped my writing style did it when I was pretty young, so we're getting some YA over here.
Robin McKinley
I must have read The Outlaws of Sherwood a dozen times between ages 10 and 15. I love me a hero who literally doesn't want to be here and got conned into this by pushy, well-meaning friends. Marian was the most badass Marian I'd ever encountered. Random, complicated, weird side-characters, my beloved. Cecily somehow speaking directly to whatever was unhinged about my own childhood feelings about my gender. Flawless, 10/10, should really re-read to see if it holds up.
This is not to minimize the ridiculous number of times I read The Hero and The Crown, The Blue Sword, Beauty, and Deerskin, because I also read them So Many Times that they've probably become a part of my psyche. Literally none of her heroes want to be heroes. But they've been informed that they are. Apparently. Ugh. Love to hate that for them.
Lloyd Alexander
I also re-read The Chronicles of Prydain at least once a year for many years. It has almost certainly messed with my mind. I was especially unhinged about The Castle of Llyr, because Princess Eilonwy. The best, the worst, the angriest princess. Love and respect. Taran I could take or leave, particularly during his Taran Wanderer phase (I was less sympathetic to his growing pains than I was to Eilonwy's), but The High King was a fantastic payoff, loved everything, no notes.
...Damn, I need to reread this series, also.
Lois McMaster Bujold
I didn't read The Vorkosigan Saga until college, but it immediately hit my brain hard. Fantastic characterization. The way she writes trauma and recovery from trauma, amazing.
Miles. What a character. What a mess. What a problem. He is only a little guy, literally and figuratively, and he's going to do his best to convince you that he didn't mean to offend that guy, set that building on fire, or end that empire. You know. Like a liar.
Sarah Rees Brennan
My number one fanfic influence--her style of writing is so delightful that, particularly when writing Harry Potter fic, I'd sometimes find myself paraphrasing her. I had to Sarah Rees Brennan-proof my fic to make sure I wasn't being an accidentally plagiarist, because her turns of phrase would just go subliminal in my brain. This honestly may still be happening, and if it is, I'm so sorry, Sarah, it's not on purpose.
My favorite of her books is In Other Lands, the story of a boy who is whisked away to magic school in magic land and is extremely annoyed to find himself there. Like why. Why is the plumbing medieval. Why don't phones work. Why is this magical Sparta.
...He's not wrong, is the thing. But he won't bend and he won't break and he won't leave, so apparently he's just going to have to fix the world himself. God help everyone! Love him. Love his friends. Love the entire world and setup and every single side character.
Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
I have been informed that you can see the Pratchett and Gaiman influences in my writing. I think this is a lie people have told me to make me feel better, but you know, I Want To Believe. So I'll include them.
Pratchett: Love for virtually the entire Discworld series, with an especially fondness for the Watch books and Susan. Still obsessed with Vetinari after all these years. What if Machiavelli but chill, though.
Gaiman: Lost track of how many times I've reread Sandman. The characters, the coolness, the weirdness, the meta! Especially obsessed with Death. Just someone being very calm and collected in the face of all kinds of horrifying nonsense. I admire that. Love nearly all of his books, but my favorite is probably Anansi Boys. Bet your stupid family drama doesn't involve gods. Or at least. I hope it doesn't.
Erin Morgenstern
I'm cheating by including her, because she didn't actually influence my writing, I just WISH SHE HAD. She can't, sadly, because my outline game will never be that strong. I know my limits. But DAMN. ENVY.
Both of her books are without flaw, but I did love The Night Circus just that little bit more, probably because I am weak to a circus. I firmly recommend The Starless Sea also, though, because it features an Unhinged Library. The characters and settings and descriptions--delightful.
But the best part is the WAY the stories are told. They're not chronological--they're like little intricate puzzle-boxes, where you open one panel, and there's a story, and you open another panel, and there's a different story, and by the fifth panel, there's a story that connected to the first panel, but also a little to the third panel, and--
LOOK, I CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE IT. It should be confusing, but it isn't. It's perfect. Just the right amount of information at the perfect time connecting to other pieces of information in a complex, interesting, deeply satisfying way. I would kill to be able to do this. Kill. I actually tried to do this in 'Mirror Image', and I had to give it up, because the level of incoherence was off the charts. ffffffffffff howwwww does she dooooo eeeeeet.
Anyway, I think those are the big ones. Special mentions to: Tom Holt, a deeply weird writer who strongly influenced one fic in particular (Some Confusion, DGM), Patricia C. Wrede, because Dealing with Dragons in general and Cimorene in particular got to me, and Dennis Lehane, because a) his historical fiction is inspiring, and b) I love his handling of The Unhinged Friend in the Patrick and Angie books. The best unhinged friend. He booby traps his own home. Love him. What is wrong with him? We'll never know.

20 questions for writers
Thanks to @thequeenofthewinter for the tag <3
Tagging: @elavoria @atypicalacademic @gilgamish @nuwanders @ladytanithia @sheirukitriesfandom @throughtrialbyfire @lucien-lachance @miraakulous-cloud-district @bostoniangirl21 @terendelev
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
6
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
704,291 😅
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The Elder Scrolls and probably only ever the elder scrolls. Mostly Oblivion but I have one Skyrim lonngfic in the works. I read fic in several other fandoms, but this one has me by the throat.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Well, I only have 6 in the first place so it's not saying all that much.
5. Do you respond to comments?
I do the best I can to! Sometimes one slips by me on a particularly busy week, and then I'm too mortified by the lapse of time to answer. I don't think it's happened too often, but please know I read them all and am always grateful for them ❤️
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Haven't finished either of them yet, but it's gotta be The Illusionist Part 2, which is an Oblivion novelization with emphasis on the Dark Brotherhood and Mages Guild, or Beyond the Break, which is just me crying about Mathieu Bellamont.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Treacle which is still hella angst lmao, but Scar-Tail does live happily ever after, and it's all thanks to @atypicalacademic for the inspiration ❤️❤️❤️ I have also vowed to make my Skyrim fic, Slither and Writhe happier 😤 Thus far, it's going... well, it is going.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven't, and the few dissenting opinions that I have received I wouldn't consider hate either. They're just opinions. I hesitated to mention this, but since I was LITCHRALLY talking about Lucien Lachance on one of Ray's posts a few minutes ago, in the past I have receive messages detailing how my interpretation of Lucien is distasteful, given he is unabashedly a villain in my story and 1/2 of a toxic relationship (also he's... kind of pathetic lol). It's a darkfic and not for everyone, I'm well aware. Fortunately, many of my very lovely, talented friends and mutuals write great Lucien fics that are different from mine, so at the end of the day we all get what we want :D Variety is the spice of life, and you can pry grossnasty Lucien out of my cold, dead fingies.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I write sexual content (idk what counts as smut). Originally, I wrote all the sex scenes as fade-to-black, and while they're not super graphic, while editing a few months ago I thought "you know what, this needs more cunt." So yeah. The sex scenes have become a bit more explicit now than they were in the first iteration.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Nah, and I don't think I ever will.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, and unless people are out there lifting passages of my writing and inserting it into their fics, I'm not going to claim ownership over ideas. We're all playing in the same sandpit, and while the execution is my own, I find it quite difficult to say the stories are totally original or novel because all my writing, from concepts to style, have been influenced in some way by the works of others.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
No, but I've tossed around some ideas with @zomboidatomic that may or may not one day bear fruit...
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I've worked them all out of my system at this point, tbh. Romance doesn't really do anything for me on its own without compelling characterizations and intriguing plot. I select by other tags over ship most of the time too. That said I've been driven crazy by some of my friends ships with characters I've never even spoken to before. If it's good it's good, you know. (Though I am currently re-watching Hannibal and I will confess that I am still ill about Hannigram ajkfhalg)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'm going to finish them all, dammit!
16. What are your writing strengths?
Characterization, I think, especially when writing people who are awful lmao I've received a lot of compliments when it comes to writing villains and morally grey characters.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Ugh, I am so self-indulgent. Sometime last year I edited The Illusionist part 2 and trimmed out 60k words. It was so BLOATED (probablly still is). I think there were times when the plot got sidelined because I had an idea for a fun scene. Yes, I love writing Lucien and Nim hate-fucking and tearing each other apart in some weird mashup of Tommy Wiseau in The Room and the alien in The Thing. No, I did not need three chapters of this back to back, but I wanted it...
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
If the plot calls for it, then by all means 👍
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Hmm, now that I think of it it may have been a Fallout 3 Harkness fic that I kept in a composition notebook when I was 12. It will never see the light of day, obivo.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
OoOoh, that's tough. Slither and Writhe already feels stronger to me because I'm a more experienced writer, and I actually planned it out, but The Illusionist is my first baby.

20 Fic Questions
Thanks for tagging me, @angelosearch! This was a lot of fun and I tag everyone else who wants to play. :)
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 20.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 230,251.
3. What fandoms do you write for? Just FFVIII.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Dinner.
Interzone.
Body Poetry.
Gorgeous Cohesion.
It's a tie between And Death Shall Be No More and Sunset Cadet (She's A Class Act).
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I always respond to comments, not only out of gratitude, but also because I love getting to engage with people in the fandom!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I'm emotionally incapable of writing angsty endings, so I don't have any fics in this category. 🥰
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? ...All of them. 😂
8. Do you get hate on fics? Thankfully, no. I've met some truly amazing people through this community.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? So far, I've written a three-part mini-series that contains smut. My primary tags for these ficlets are Forbidden Love and Mutual Pining. I would describe the style as emotional and poetic.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I've never written a crossover. I'm not sure that I could, mainly because I don't feel that I know another universe (besides FFVIII) well enough to pull it off.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I've discovered.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No translations.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, but I always thought that would be cool.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship? Since I was a little girl, Seifer x Quistis (Seiftis) has been my OTP!
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? None, as I personally restrict the number of WIPs to prevent this exact scenario.
16. What are your writing strengths? Based on readers' feedback: excellent characterizations, imaginative storylines, and magical use of language.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I always have this nagging thought that I need to write more, though I don't want to base "success" on a word count. However, it's true that I could fill my chapters with plenty more descriptions.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I encourage this when the context requires it! Just be sure to do your research properly. Until I was asked this question, I didn't realize that I do this all the time when I'm translating dialogue from Korean to English (as you may have noticed, I am inspired by many K-Dramas). 😉
19. First fandom you wrote for? FFVIII.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written? It is impossible to choose. They are all my favorite, each for a special reason. 🩷

Hi! I've read many times from many different writing blogs that the best way to improve your own writing is to read a lot- and draw inspiration from what you read. My question is, how exactly do you do that? I read and watch lots of things that I think are really cool and want to emulate in my own work, but I'm not sure how to do that without straight up copying it.
That's a great question.
As I see it, there are two parts to this: what you write and how you write.
For what you write, that can be topic, genre, trope--all things that you enjoy in that you decide you want to write about. Maybe you read a bunch of vampire books and decide you want to write a vampire book. Maybe you read something about whale fall and decide you want to write about the space equivalent of a whale fall. Maybe you decide to write a story set in a coffee shop because you read a lot of coffee shop AUs.
it can also be much more distant or narrow inspiration. I have a book that I've been working on on-and-off for well over a decade now that was inspired by an early scene in Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy. The book itself is quite different from Vampire Academy in a lot of ways (to start, there are no vampires) but the things I liked about that scene gave me a jumping off point for my own idea.
In terms of how you write, this can be style, pacing, structure, characterization, or even how you describe or conceptualize certain things. The way I write characters' interactions with and experience of magic has been informed by urban fantasy authors like Lilith Saintcrow and Ilona Andrews--but nobody will read it and think oh this is Ilona Andrews magic because I've taken what I liked about how they (and many other authors) write magic and folded it into my own style.
You can do this with how books are structured, how sentences are written, how characters act, think, or speak. You can get inspiration from how an author using italics or parentheses, from the way their shape a point of view, from the distance from the narrator to the characters.
You will find things while you read that strike you--as good, as bad, as different. The real trick is taking that extra step of thinking about what makes it striking. What makes it work or not work, what makes it stand out, what do you like or hate or otherwise feel about it? And then you take that and figure out how (and if) you want to fold it into your own writing. This will be trial and error--you may try styles that you like in others that you hate in yourself, or that make you miserable to write, and you can discard those. That's still learning from other people's writing.
The key is to make it your own, to have it fit within your writing style, to augment rather than replace.

How do you get into the perspective of your OC(s)? What were the first few things you did to get into their character and understand them better?
I absolutely love this question bc it led to me re reading my own work 😂
I somehow got to my my characters very well without ever putting my book in first person. It’s all third person, sub for one character who breaks the fourth wall and sometimes speaks without quotation marks.
I was inspired by Shannon Hale’s run of Ever After High (Ever After High has at least three different book series by three different authors, plus a Netflix tv series- it’s like a miniature MCU but with better characterization lmao) and I can arguably say that Shannon Hale has the best material on all of Ever After High.
Here is an example (the image is sourced from Etsy) of how a character breaks the containment of using proper formatting of quotation marks and speaks directly to the narrator
Tumblr media
I do this as well. Different font, and then I write it like a text message going back and forth, disregarding quotation marks or proper formatting. However this only happens a couple of times per book for my character, and a handful (4-5) times in Ever After High.
I know my characters far too well. The main eight are like children to me, I know their deepest desire and darkest fear and coping mechanism and guilty pleasure. I have been with them for over 5 years without finishing my novel. The time has been spent with making playlists and drawing pictures and creating Pinterest boards and writing things that I don’t intend to publish or include in the final manuscript (hehehe fanfiction by the author) because I simply like to explore them in different situations. My books are going to be in third person, but I ocassionally write in first person, even if I’m planning on just deleting it, because I just like to practice getting in my characters’ heads when I have writers block.
I follow the “worst” writing advice ever. I base many traits for my OCs off of myself, which could be seen as making them Mary Sues. I write them like real people, adding in stupid dialogue of them stuttering or accidentally interrupting one another and then saying “oh sorry, you go first”. I write smut about my favourite OC ships knowing that I’ll never include it in the final draft of my book, just because I want to write about what’s happening “off screen” and what my characters are doing when the reader isn’t looking (although there are indeed some sex scenes in my book, I do like to write additional ones that aren’t nearly as eloquent or have any plans to include it in the published novel). I started my second draft before my first draft was finished, solely because I understood my writing style had improved so abruptly and the characters had evolved so much, I needed to start fresh. I look in the mirror and act out my character’s conversations with one another or their fight scenes or how they wave their hands around like Elsa conjuring magic. I take breaks for months and when I finally sit down and write, I’ll either write 5 words, or 2205 words in one sitting, and not often anything in between.
I have horrible writing advice, and I suggest you take any of it that you’d like or that resonated with you, because it has brought me so much joy in my life and has helped me gradually get to know my characters like new friends who become family.
I’ve been told that my writing “flows like butter” which is so odd because I juggle 4 protagonists, 2 antagonists, and 2 deuteragonists. They don’t “all fit”, but they all have a role to play. Like the delicious fries on the side of the burger, the whole meal. Your characters don’t need to be stars. They just need to be memorable. And I know they will be. Your mind is more capable than you think.
Like honestly, just word vomit on the page and write silly stuff. It will be the most human, glorious, flawed, messy, endearing, and passionate writing you’ll see. Just go create chaos. And play with your characters like Barbie dolls. In a little while, you’ll know them like you know yourself.
At the end of the day, anything you write will be an achievement because you took nothing and turned it into something, transformed a blank page into a series of words and letters. That’s god behaviour right there. Even if it’s shitty writing, you created it from scratch.
But also, don’t worry about setting deadlines and timelines. I’ve been at this since grade 10 and now I’m in university and I’m still not done. Let your characters marinate and soak and rest in your mind. Let them grow. There is no rush. All is well 💜 and one day your characters will grow like little plants from seeds 🫂🫂🫂💕💕💕 just be patient with yourself, and have fun with getting to know your characters!

Hello! It’s been a while since I said anything, I seemed to have taken to just admiring from afar. But I thought I should say something! I’m currently living at a residential facility for my eating disorder that came back with a vengeance when I tried to go to college this fall, and we’re not allowed our phones most of the day, so I brought my (revised!) copy of ABM in hopes that I might find the courage to read again. My autism makes it hard to read, as I get overwhelmed by the words on the page, so I don’t do a lot of physical book reading, but I knew if one book could make me read again it would be yours. Today is my third day at the hospital and I’ve read 100 pages today! Reading feels fun again, I can’t express how thankful I am for that. The only book I’ve been able to read and enjoy this much has been my trusty copy of Paradise Lost, I’m so glad I can read something new. Your prose style is exactly what I’ve been searching for in modern literature, it feels so good and I want to eat it!! I’m writing my own Michael x Lucifer book series and it’s been amazing seeing the differences and similarities between our characterizations of the angels. Before I came to the hospital I was too sick to write, even though it’s my favorite thing in the world, but today I got permission to use the computer and started rewriting the beginning of my book. And I can honestly thank you for that. A fellow man loving trans author obsessed with angels… you’re everything I’ve wanted to find since I was just a little kid writing shitty poems. I’m rambling and I know that but I just wanted to tell you that you’re so inspiring, from the way you interact with your readers to the way you write, you’re truly the author I want to be someday. The cell reception out here is pretty bad but I hope this goes through. Tumblr is struggling to load text posts and images but know that I am mentally liking all your posts. Lots of love!
Hello, hello !! I hope you're doing well and that recovery is really kind to you and that angels bring u comfort :( I'm really sorry to hear about what you're going through, though I'm glad my book has given you something to keep your mind off things at least and that I can be a little inspiration to you. Thank you..
I hope writing goes well for you!!! I'm cheering for you!! Sending you so much love !

I've got a few questions for ya! Where did you learn to write like you do? I read through your newest fic and I'm blown away from how could you write!
And the other question I have, do you ever get worried? I hurt my brain and went down the SP confession rabbit hole, and now I'm worried about my writing now. I'm afraid of falling into tropes and writing these characters to be one dimensioned. How do you get past that?
First of all, thank you!! I never really know how to react when people compliment my writing as a whole, because truthfully I’m still very insecure about the way I write! It really does help to hear that people enjoy my writing style! (,,> ᴗ <,,)
I have a couple of answers to your first question. Learning to write has been a weird process for me if I’m being honest. I’ve always been told that reading is the best way to learn, and while I think reading lots of different things is a huge factor in being able to write confidently, there’s really no substitute for actually doing the thing.
I’ve always loved storytelling, but only really began writing stories down in middle school. Then I started finding RP partners online, and spent several years writing all kinds of stories and absorbing tons of skills from those people.
I’ve also spent an embarrassing amount of time listening to people talk about writing. Story structure, character development, all that jazz. There are several really great YouTube channels that discuss different writing techniques that I’ve taken bits and pieces from throughout the years.
Writing style is a very personal thing though, and while I’ve learned a lot from the way other people write, I’ve also spent a lot of time experimenting with my own voice. I’ve drafted tons of unfinished projects just to see what perspectives I enjoy writing from the most, or what sort of narrative voice I prefer to have. As you may glean from both TSOB and EWILY, I tend to take on a sort of sarcastic tone as a narrator, and for the most part I do that because that’s just kind of how I talk! I’m a smart ass by nature I’m afraid, though I think it also works well in the context of the sillier stories I tend to tell with my SP inspired works.
To answer your second question, yes! I’m always worried that my interpretations of certain characters won’t be enjoyed by the greater fandom, especially as someone who tends to not really vibe with a lot of really popular head canons. My solution to that? I pretend not to care!
Seriously though, I have spent a truly, horribly embarrassing amount of time studying these characters. Between watching the show, playing the games, listening to the episode commentaries, watching character analysis videos on YouTube (I’m a Johnny2Cellos girly myself), and reading some really, really good fan fiction I have put in the time to feel at least a little bit confident in my characterization of the main four boys, and sometimes Butters.
The fun thing about SP is that even Those Bastards play pretty fast and loose with their characterization, though.
Characters like Cartman who tend to have very consistent traits are usually the easiest for me to write. When I ask myself the question “how would Cartman respond to this?” the answer is usually whatever the worst possible response I can think of would be. Then I dial it back a little bit because I’m not trying to get cancelled.
But characters like Stan or Kyle are a lot more fluid. Sometimes they care very deeply about things, sometimes they don’t give a single shit. Sometimes they support one another through everything, sometimes they’re very quick to part ways. Characters like this can be really challenging, especially when you have them alongside characters who are often so cartoonishly villainous like Cartman.
My best advice for writing any characters, but especially for these particular characters, is to lean into their positive traits and flaws equally.
Cartman is actually a great example of this. He’s bigoted, crass and quite frankly kind of terrifying if you think about the things he’s done for more than thirty seconds. But he’s also extremely creative, pretty smart when he wants to be and, in many instances, is shown to actually care about his friends. Balancing all of these traits can be challenging, but it can also result in a more fleshed out, well rounded character.
Another character I see a lot of discourse about is Butters. To avoid making him too ‘uwu sweet baby’, as I often see it said, I balance a few things with him. Yes, Butters is generally very kind and sensitive to others’ feelings, but he’s also extremely gullible and can be a real asshole when he’s around the wrong people for long enough.
Of course, you don’t need to take my advice as gospel. I’m someone who has tried to keep the characters pretty close to canon (less so in EWILY than I did in TSOB, truthfully), but I’ve seen many incredibly written, extremely interesting SP fics that throw much of canon in the trash. Do what feels right for you and helps you to express the kinds of stories you want to tell!
At the end of the day, if you write for you and you enjoy the content you’re creating, then it shouldn’t matter what anyone else thinks of the interpretations you make. I especially don’t take anything on confession blogs personally, because if one of my head canons really offends someone they can talk to me about it. (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Thank you so much for this ask! I had a lot of fun thinking about my own journey with writing these fics, and I hope some of my advice will be helpful for you! Much love, anon! ♡⸜(˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)⸝♡

A, H, N, O
For the writer ask game :)
A: Of the fanfic you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?
I don’t know if I have a single favorite, but one of my favorites is Elastic Heart. I’m very proud of being able to juggle the ensemble cast, writing nine Links is hard! Also I’m so happy at the response it got. But either way, I think it was some of my better writing, especially with scenarios and characterization and descriptions. And I love giving Sky the limelight - he shines just fine in the background but he should never be forgotten and deserves to have his moment <3
H: How would you describe your writing style?
Oh gosh… right now, a mess. But generally… character driven.
N: Any fic ideas brewing that you’d care to share?
Well, I’ve talked about it plenty, but haven’t published it so… it’s called The Legend of Zelda: Golden Mercy. It’s a tale of redemption, it takes place during Hyrule Warriors (which I’ve never played, which is a big reason I’m struggling lol because… lore and characters and stuff…) and is inspired by @silvercaptain24’s desire for a fic where Ganondorf is a good guy, Zelda is a bad guy, and Link’s caught in the middle with Gan trying to convince him. I tweaked the premise a little because, honestly, I can’t see Zelda being a total bad guy from the get go, not if I’m working with canon. So it’s a journey for all three characters - Ganondorf is trying to find redemption from the losses he suffered after being sealed away for so long, Link is trying to figure out his place in all this insanity, and Zelda is struggling to be the ruler Hyrule needs. I really love the ideas I have for it, but trying to turn it into a story has been a bit of a struggle.
O: What are your thoughts on people writing fanfic of your fanfic?
I love seeing people write fanfic of my stories! Like… good grief, I never imagined anyone would care enough or be excited enough about my writing to create something based off it, whether it’s writing or art. That just… blows my mind. It makes me very happy <3
